Top Ten Best Perfumes 2023

This year has indeed been a remarkable one in the world of fragrances. The industry, spanning niche and designer sectors, has been prolific, unveiling many imaginative scents sprinkled with a perfect dose of nostalgia and delightfully wearable. Narrowing down this bounty was challenging, as the initial list was nearly double in size. It’s as if the industry shook off all previous constraints, simultaneously releasing a cascade of noteworthy compositions. As a millennial, I’ve observed the resurgence of my adolescent fads with a blend of nostalgia and bemusement. It’s exciting and perplexing to witness these trends coming back. This year’s narrative was beautifully crafted, with a dominant theme of luscious fruits, savory facets of nuts that found their way into many compositions, and a poignant homage to vanilla. This beloved ingredient was transformed in myriad ways, showing varied intensities, sweetness, and a bold edge across numerous houses. Ai has entered the chat in a more mainstream way, and as the conversation unfolds about fear of it taking over the world, I have a more optimistic outlook, seeing it more as a tool we can use when it comes to research, visual creation, and so many other creative areas. We noticed a shift away from skin-like aromas to perfumes that make a statement, a change that was refreshing to experience. There’s an undoubtful surge in the global interest in perfumery, which is now diverging paths. Some enthusiasts continue to seek detailed insights through long-form content on YouTube and blogs, while many newcomers prefer the quick, vibrant presentations on Instagram reels and TikTok. One thing is sure: regardless of where the market chooses to consume their content and get their information, the industry is growing at the speed of light.

With it comes both innovation and a degree of market saturation, with an unavoidable amount of repetition. However, our olfactive duty remains to explore, assess, interview, and review. This way, readers, viewers, and anyone eager to delve deeper into the world of fragrances can find a reliable reference and a valuable tool in their olfactive journey. With that in mind, for our annual summary, here are my top ten fragrances of 2023, along with five honorable mentions I look forward to wearing and adding to my ever-growing and evolving perfume archive. My top ten best perfumes of 2023 are in no particular order:

Top Ten Best Perfumes of 2023 according to influencers

Top Ten Best Perfumes 2023 collage by Olya©

Thameen London Bravi Cologne Elixir (Bruno Jovanovich): Thameen London Bravi Cologne Elixir truly stands out as one of this year’s most luxurious releases. It’s a masterful blend where the heady scent of tuberose flowers is elegantly entwined with the sweetness of honey and the rich, creamy essence of walnut milk. This fragrance marks a grand finale to a year of triumphant launches at Thameen London. It’s celebrated by the fragrance community for its lush, intoxicating character, infused with a hint of boozy warmth and delicately balanced with a touch of spicy ginger. A festive ode to sensory indulgence. @thameenfragrance @cchonguk @brunojovanovichperfumer

Akro Bake (Olivier Cresp): The latest gem in the Akro collection, “Bake,” has been all the rage on social media lately. It’s like everyone’s talking about this addictive scent that smells just like a lemon cupcake with a meringue topping – and let me tell you, I’ve totally fallen for its gourmand charm too. When it comes to creating mouth-watering fragrances, Olivier Cresp is definitely the guy you want on the job. “Bake” is this perfect mix of comforting, balanced, and it almost feels like you could eat it! It’s like a celebration in a bottle for those of us who can’t resist a bit of sugar. @akrofragrances @oliviercresp

Parfums De Marly Althair (Hamid Merati-Kashani and Ilias Ermenidis): Surprisingly fresh take on vanilla – think elegant, generous, and oozing with boozy orange blossom charisma. Imagine the zest of orange flower and bergamot, paired with the warmth of cardamom and a hint of cinnamon. At the heart, a lavish overdose of vanilla beans creates a rich, textured allure. @parfumsdemarly @hamidmeratikashani @ilasermenedis

Amouage Guidance (Quentin Bisch): Guidance has been a real talk of the town this year. It’s like a masterful interpretation of sensuality, all wrapped up in a gorgeous blend of fruits, flowers, and resins. An ivory tower, right in the middle of shreds of clouds. There’s this delicate, dewy mist of pear, the inviting richness of almond milk, and those little beads of frankincense that just outline what feels like a dreamy haven. It’s like the olfactory version of the most heartwarming, poetic embrace you can imagine. @amouageofficial @quentinbischperfumer

Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum (Jordi Fernandez): Thibaud Crivelli is like a global wanderer, and his travels are nothing short of extraordinary. He’s got this knack for weaving his adventures into his fragrances. Oud Maracuja teases your senses with the tantalizing tartness of passion fruit set against the smokiness of slightly animalic oud. Playing with contrasts and shadows, it feels wildly untamed, yet intoxicating and oddly addictive. It’s like each bottle holds a piece of his adventurous spirit. @maisoncrivelli @thibaud.crivelli @jordi.perfumer

Arquiste L’Or de Louis Rodrigo Flores-Roux): In the heart of Versailles, in the arms of the Orangerie, Arquiste L’Or de Louis weaved a fragrant tale—a testament to the enduring romance that has graced this historic palace for centuries. A scent that whispered of timeless love stories, intoxicating betrayals, and passion, where every note was a tribute to the eternal beauty of Versailles and the heart of Louis himself. A delicate blend of aldehydes, slightly bitter brightness of bergamot set against the dry down of smoky firewood. Its resinous, balsamic grip creates a perfect balance to the animalic sweetness of orange blossom dripping with honey. Bravo Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Carlos Huber. @arquiste @rodrigofloresroux

Blocki Brazilian Lily (Michelle Bruckmann): Blocki Brazilian Lily was spot on with the fig trend which seemed to take everyone by storm. It’s a fragrance that begs to be deeply inhaled, filling your lungs with its airy essence. With each spritz, a cascade of vibrant red currants and lush white figs comes to life, weaving seamlessly with the noble scent of driftwood, evoking the enchanting forests near Brazil’s captivating shores. The gentle caress of amber and musk adds depth to the woody base, complementing rather than overshadowing the heart’s fruity floral notes. Crafted with the finesse of an artist and the soul of a poet, Michelle Bruckmann has created Blocki Brazilian Lily not just as a fragrance, but as a portal to the jungle’s soul, a narrative in every drop, speaking volumes of heritage and whispered stories.@blockiperfumes

The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition (Barb Stegemann and Julie Pluchet): Cherry Ambition, a viral TikTok hit is the juicy, olfactory delight of a ripe cherry, each bite(spritz) bursting with flavor that dances on your taste buds. The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition kicks off with a playful mix of mandarin and cherry blossom, creating a scent that feels like a light touch on the skin. As the scent unfolds, osmanthus steps up, bringing its own fleshy fruity twist, reminiscent of suede like leather. But then, there’s a hint of saffron, adding just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. Warm vanilla and marshmallows swirling together, with cherry blossoms popping up in between – it’s like a sweet, gourmet dance. This blend then cozies up with warm amber and musky guaiac wood, wrapping you in a scent that feels like a sweet victory. @the7virtues @barbstegemann @julie.pluchet.perfumer

Lilanur Parfums Zafran Boise (Honorine Blanc): Perhaps one of my favorite releases from LilaNur which was staged as an immersive dinner experience for the launch. From the jasmine of Madurai to the roses of Aligarh, sustainably sourced precious Indian ingredients are at the heart of every LilaNur perfume bringing it even closer to the origin of all its olfactive stories. Inspired by Kashmiri Kahwa Tea, the latest fragrance symbolizes warmth, hospitality, and a sense of community as the smoky tea elixir’s tale dates back to the 15th century. As the scent unfolds, a decadent honeyed praline note emerges, tantalizingly hinting at the gourmand territory. The scent transports you to the awe-inspiring landscapes of Kashmir, floating down the lake in the early morning hours when the fog was covering the lake, making it hard to see too far ahead. Brava Honorine Blanc, who has masterfully crafted an unforgettable story that resonates deeply with the soul of Indian heritage—a fragrance that captivates, enchants, and leaves an indelible mark on the senses and a decadent trail behind it. @lilanurparfums

 M. Micallef GNTONIC (Sidonie Grandperret and Geoffrey Nedjman): The most refreshing release of the year. If you tried it you would agree. M. Micallef GNTONIC is the olfactive equivalent of a gin and tonic, just as refreshing and invigorating. Encased in a stunning light green, frosted glass bottle, it’s a shot of a rare aromatic vivacity to be savored anytime. The opening is slightly masculine due to its cologne-like structure, yet it quickly switches flavor gears into something softer and gender neutral. It’s stimulating, mouth-watering, revivifying on a hot day and feels effortless. Like an oversized white button-down, it equally works its refreshing magic on anyone, anywhere, anytime. @parfumsmicallef @geoffreynejman

Top Ten Best Perfumes 2023 Honorable Mentions

Electimuss Vanille Edesia (Cecile Zarokian): A deep complex vanilla, structured with so many ingredients layered and woven together into a perfect blend. Centered around a vanilla absolute that is rich, dark, and intriguingly salty, its lavish feast for the senses, blending the richness of creamy vanilla with a medley of exotic fruits and zesty citrus, complemented by the sharpness of bitter almond. It’s seasoned with an array of exotic spices like warm cinnamon and zesty pink pepper, creating a captivating aroma. The heart of the scent blooms with the opulent notes of ylang-ylang, the comforting sweetness of heliotrope, and the delicate allure of rose centifolia. Underneath it all lies a seductive, carnal base that combines the deep resonance of amber and musk with the refined boldness of leather, enriched by indulgent gourmand and woody undertones. @electimuslondon @cecilezarokianparfumeur

Snif Citrus Circus (Gino Percontino, Patricia Choux and Ugo Charron): Guess what? The perfect orange popsicle fragrance does exist, and it’s all thanks to a trio of perfumers: Gino Percontino, Patricia Choux, and Ugo Charron. Ugo, especially, is making waves as an up-and-comer on the Mane team. He’s already left his mark on multiple Snif fragrances and adds a unique twist to his work. When he’s not in the lab, he’s traveling the world with his band, Cosmic Gardens, putting on these incredible music shows that blend the scents with the music’s concept and visuals. ‘Citrus Circus’ is one very bright citrus scent that strikes this perfect balance between warm woods and the freshness of ocean air. The mix is spot-on: a creamsicle accord, tangy grapefruit, a zing of lime zest, the fizz of sparkling water, cozy white amber, and a hint of cedar. It’s like they’ve bottled the essence of a summer day – ultra-realistic and just perfectly balanced. @snif.co @ugoartperfume  @patriciachoux @cosmic.gardens.official

Personal message to perfumer Patricia Choux, Happy Birthday December 30th-Michelyn

Mancera Tonka Cola: This fizzy celebration of cola’s nostalgic taste warmed my heart. A spot-on recreation of a blissful first sip of a sparkling cola on a sun-drenched summer day. It’s a vibrant, jubilant splash of Sicilian lemon, bursting with life, reminiscent of my childhood days when cola was a treasured treat reserved for special occasions. Not only did the brand focus on the trendy direction of beverages we saw starting to pick up strength last year, but it also played on the concept of the cherry accord, which was all the craze in 2023 in fashion, beauty, and no fragrances.@mancera

Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis (Bertrand Duchaufour): Truly one of the most noteworthy toasted pistachio releases this year, paying ode to the artistic mind and boundless creativity. In his studio, the artist’s mind wanders to a volcanic island in the Mediterranean. He reminisces about the vibrant colors and intoxicating smells of Tangier, where the scent of pistachio mingles with the richness of saffron. He reflects on his travels, both real and imagined, that continue to stir his senses. For him, inspiration is a journey that dances between the memories of the past and the desires of the present (review coming soon). @vilhelm_parfumerie

Parfums Dusita Rosarine (Pissara Umavijani): Rosarine by Parfums Dusita is like a dreamy stroll through a rose garden, the inspiration came from Pissara’s first enchanting encounter with the rose gardens at Bagatelle Park in Paris. I wore it on my skin through multiple outings in Milan and it made me feel like I was in a personal cocoon of roses dusted with cocoa. The weather was quite crisp and it morphed into a sensual, comforting and transportive scent trail. @parfumsdusita

Top Ten Best Perfumes 2023 Best Trend of 2023

The standout trend of 2023 in the fragrance world has been the inventive use of nutty accords. It’s a fascinating shift, bringing an intricate savory twist to many scents. Take, for example, the hazelnuts in Amouage’s Guidance, artfully blended with Omani frankincense, or the toasted pistachios against salty driftwood in Vilhelm Parfumerie’s Faces of Francis. And Thameen London’s Bravi is a particularly delightful creation, with its rich walnut milk infused with ginger and honey. It even showed up in the more commercial brands like Kayali with Olivier Cresp behind its pistachio based Yum. This trend has expanded the horizon way beyond the usual nutty players such as almonds and coconuts, and introduced a new layer of depth and complexity to fragrances, marking several as my personal favorites for the year. It seems the perfume industry has gone ‘nuts’ in the best way possible, and I’m definitely on board with this evolution.

Disclosure bottles and samples were gifted me throughout the year, but opinions are my own

Top Ten Best Perfumes 2023

2023 has been an eventful and transformative year to say the least, especially when it comes to the perfume industry. While many flankers have been released, we have also observed both niche and designer brands put out some highly original creations. There have been some reinterpretations to classics such as Jubilation 40 and Ganymede Elixir. On the flip side of the same coin, original creations such as Jany and GNTonic have graced us with their olfactory splendor. Finally, it is time to go over some of the favorite releases of 2023, and here we have some true gems in what seemed to be an interminable sea of releases. My top ten best perfumes 2023 are in no order.

Top Ten Best Perfumes 2023 collage of Steven’s selections by Olya Bar©

Parfums de Marly Althair (Hamid-Merati Kashani and Ilias Ermenidis) While Parfums de Marly is no stranger to the note of vanilla (Carlisle, Oriana, etc.), Althaïr is a gourmand expression of vanilla with spicy accents of cinnamon and cardamom. A gourmand touch of praline is present in the base, and elemi resin joins the vanilla to create one of the most unique amber accords. This highly anticipated release proves the consistent quality of the Marly brand. @parfumsdemarly  @hamidmeratikashani @ilasermenedis

Guerlain Tobacco Honey (Delphine Jelk): Honey and tobacco are notes in perfumes that have been presented as a pair many times in the past. However, this special release by Guerlain throws vanilla, anise, and sesame seeds into the mix for a gourmand experience like no other. Oud and tonka bean occupy the base for a finish that is both mysterious and tenacious. It takes a drastic turn for a tobacco fragrance to be unique in today’s olfactive landscape, and Guerlain managed to create magic once again.@guerlain @delphinejelk

Sora Dora Jany (Perfumer Undisclosed): Gourmand perfumes seem to be ubiquitous. However, Jany crafts some unique accords of puff pastry and baked apple for a perfume so delicious you’d want to eat it. This warm apple sensation marries nutty notes, caramel, and vanilla for a medley of sweet tones that will leave you salivating. Jany is a novel gourmand experience, and with this holiday season being the perfect time to wear such a fragrance, it’s hard to resist owning a bottle! @sora_dora

Creed Absolu Aventus (Jean Christophe Herault): Absolu Aventus is the much-anticipated flanker that is released 13 years after the release of the original. This new expression of the Aventus DNA spotlights notes of grapefruit, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, and patchouli. The darker twists make this what many people call the “sophisticated older brother” to the iconic Aventus. One thing is for sure: consumers did not wait to sample this new release from the niche giant, and most have found a new love in their olfactory wardrobe. @jeanchristopheherault @creedfragrance

Amouage Jubilation 40 (Bertrand Duchaufour): Jubilation 40 is a reinterpretation of the classic Jubilation XXV. This perfume combines the iconic blackberry and opoponax opening with a tart and lively blackcurrant ingredient. The smoothness of the blend is noticeable at first sniff, and the oud dry down provides strength and sustenance. Spices like clove and cinnamon intermingle to pique our interest with their enigmatic charm. The allure of patchouli and ambergris are present in the dry down. Jubilation 40 is a modern masterpiece with longevity and intrigue. @amouageofficial @renaudsalmon

Electimuss Vanilla Edesia (Cecile Zarokian): Perfumer Cecile Zarokian has utilized vanilla in some of the most enchanting ways in the past. One example of this is Ani from the Turkish brand Nishane. However, in 2023, she combined vanilla with frankincense for an experience that is meditatively sweet. An abundance of spices occupies the heart, and they include cumin, coriander, and cinnamon. Pink pepper combines with rose for a floral and spicy sensation. Vetiver and patchouli establish the verdant qualities in the base. Vanilla Edesia is the best vanilla composition released in 2023. @electimusslondon @cecilezarokianparfumeur @jovoymayfair

Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede Extrait (Quentin Bisch): Immortelle is such a unique floral ingredient. While it doesn’t smell floral in a typical or expected sense, it instead adopts aromas of honey, tobacco leave, and even dry hay. This is used in Ganymede Extrait, and this unique flower is joined by incense, myrrh, and saffron. The experience of this fragrance is altogether enigmatic, mysterious, meditative, and harmonious.@quentinbischperfumer @marcantoinebarrois

Aaron Terence Hughes Hard Candy Elixir (Aaron Terence Hughes): Hard Candy Elixir is the follow-up to the ever-so-popular Hard Candy. This sweet perfume opens with honey and strawberry. A pairing of mint and lavender is both bright and aromatic. The sweetness in the base is comprised of sandalwood, tonka bean, and vanilla. If you’re in the market for a fragrance with unparalleled longevity, you will find precisely what you are looking for with Hard Candy Elixir! @aaronterencehughes

Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale (Bertrand Duchaufour): Leave it to perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour to craft a unique composition spotlighting some of the most unorthodox and unexpected ingredients. That’s what you will get with Ambrosia Imperiale. This amber fragrance opens with a banana note that is soaked in spicy and intoxicating rum. Dates add to the fruity and exotic sweetness while vanilla, caramel, and whipped cream offer a medley of sweetness in the dry down. This fruity amber perfume is a testament to the originality in the perfume industry. @navitusparfums #bertrandduchaufour

Micallef GNTONIC (Sidonie Grandperret): With a name like GNTONIC, one expects refreshment, relaxation, fizziness, and perhaps even intoxication! You will get all of the above with this summer release by M. Micallef! An opening of tonic water is effervescent and bubbly. Hints of mint add to the brightness while the citrus zest is inviting and charismatic. The green base is comprised primarily of vetiver and moss, which both also add to the longevity and the complexity. @parfumsmicallef

  • I had to catch up on my blogs after a well deserved holiday and what better way to start than with 8 great lists from CaFleureBon. And what a finale this is!

Steven’s recommendations never fail to impress me and Olya’s choices seem to line up with my partner’s taste, so we went through the list thoroughly and updated our wishlists accordingly!

We both have a soft spot for M Micallef. I love DesirToxic and my significant other enjoys her bottle of Ylang In Gold.
The bottles are a work of art themselves and the scents are truly amazing.

I won’t come as a surprise that I would choose GNTONIC!

    Greetings from the UK!

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

Another amazing list of fragrances to check out. I love tonic themed fragrances, and GNTONOC sounds like something that I’d really enjoy. I’d love to win a bottle of GNTONIC. I live in Maryland USA.

  • Interesting insights about the use of AI in perfumery. Thanks for the great selection of top scents of 2023. Akro Bake is intriguing with its perfumer and concept. Unfortunately the brand is not imported in my country and hard to find in Europe. M. Micallef GNTONIC sounds amazingly fresh and stimulating with the gin and tonic composition. The bottle design looks incredible too. Rosarine by Dusita is really a great dreamy perfume of a rose garden. It’s my favourite rose centric scent.
I am posting from EU and would like to win GNTONIC. Have a great start into the new year, everyone!

  • Sandi McDonald says:

Happy New Year! Dying to get my nose on so many of these top picks. Oklahoma we have very limited access and depend on sites like this to provide great content. Thank you for a great 2023 of fragrances.

  • Steven’s and Olya’s another great list. I was happy to see Parfums M. Micallef GNTONIC on both list. such a wonderful Fragrance house. That will my choice as well. Thank you for this chance USA

  • AromaDulce73 says:

Great top 10’s by both Olya and Steven. The one that pops out and seems to be a winner amongst them all is Parfums de Marly’s Althair. I had the chance to smell this recently at the Parfums de Marly boutique in LA. I even got to meet Yvan Jacqueline (Creative Director). I definitely would like to get this in my collection in 2024. I pick GNTonic.

    Los Angeles Ca. USA

  • Again amazing lists with some I am familiar with and some to look for this next year.
I have never heard of GNTONIC,
But it sounds amazing. Hope to win!
    Thanks for the giveaways.
    Oklahoma USA

  • Olya and Steven your taste and choices are fabulous! Steven I LOVE GNTONIC and would be elated to win that draw. Olya, Guidance really blew me away. As it was viral it always a little suspicious but it really was one of the most beautiful creamy florals. Sweet and with the perfect nuttiness. Love at first sniff!
    John from USA

  • I think Olya’s and Steven’s Top ten best perfumes of 2023 are very well-curated and reflect their personal tastes and preferences. They have also included some interesting facts and stories behind each perfume, which make their article more engaging and informative. I appreciate their passion and knowledge for the art of perfumery. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. I’d absolutely love to win GNTONIC, It sounds very magnificent.

  • Olya and Steven has the best top 10!

I love how Olya talks about Akro Bake. As a fan of Oliver Cresp, this is definitely on top of my list to try ASAP. Everyone has been indeed talking about Bake and I see it everywhere in social media. All of these hype makes me want to get it ASAP. “When it comes to creating mouth-watering fragrances, Olivier Cresp is definitely the guy you want on the job.” Yes indeed Olya. Yes indeed. Oliver Cresp does not disappoint!

Now Steven got my attention on Sora Dora Jany! I have seen, read, and heard so many good reviews on Jany that it makes me want to get this one ASAP along with Akro Bake. “This warm apple sensation marries nutty notes, caramel, and vanilla for a medley of sweet tones that will leave you salivating.” My mouth is watering Steve. My mouth is watering. Say no more. I am sold!

I would love the opportunity to win Ambrosia Imperiale by AI The Great. I am a huge fan of her and I’m in love with her latest release Amorous Intense! The banana note and the rum sounds so intoxicating. And I don’t have any banana perfumes in my collection. I would love to get my nose on this as I know it will be a love at first sniff just like Amorous Intense!

Happy New Year! From Seattle WA, USA ❤️

  • Ramses Perez says:

Truly the best list so far, every single major house is featured here. Especially, I love the inclusion of Althair, Jubilation 40 and Vanilla Edesia. Iconic compilation! I feel like each year more and more fragrances hit the market and 2023 was no exception. A variety of scent profiles too which makes for a complete collection if you ask me. I’d love to win the GnTonic Bottle as it has been on my radar for quite some time. Cheers from the USA.

  • My gawd this list was superb! I love how detailed every description was. Makes me want to buy every bottle (I will totally do that) the love for fragrances is just giving in this blog! I’m feeling that Ambrosia big time! Las Vegas USA

  • Another wonderful list of fragrances. I enjoyed reading about GNTONIC with its frosted glass bottle. The frankincense in Vanilla Edesia caught my attention also. If lucky, I’d choose GNTONIC due to its bottle and fuzziness. Happy New Year all. Mich USA

  • I would choose GNTONIC, I’m in maryland. This particular list is so different from the previous lists. I’m was kind of excited to see a SNIF scent on the list, but of course it is one I don’t own (yet). There have been so many exciting releases this year, I can’t really keep up. I would like to try the Thameen scent.

  • Warm thanks to Steven and Olya for their picks. So many wonderful creations came out this year and it is difficult to narrow them down to a select few. I was excited to see some new entries that had not been mentioned in previous lists. Akro Bake, Sora Dora Jany, and Aaron Terence Hughes Hard Candy Elixir are all wonderful picks, especially for those who like the neo-gourmand style. Personally, I am most intrigued by M, Micallef GNTONIC as I have heard much fanfare surrounding it but have yet to get my nose on it. I would certainly choose it if my comment were to be selected. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • whimsical diva says:

This was a great list, and very interesting to see some fragrances like Althair, Electimuss Vanilla, Guidance, Bake etc show up on multiple lists. These overlaps make them the most intriguing fragrances to sample in the new year. I’ve never tried anything from Navitus before, but Ambrosia Imperiale sounds very interesting, especially the banana note. I’d love to enter the draw, and live in the US

  • Happy Birthday Patricia. I never knew I needed an orange popsicle fragrance until now. Very interested in Bravi with the walnut note. I literally just got home with a 50 ml of Faces of Francis. Happy to see it on at least an honorable mention. Aisha must be thrilled to see her Ambrosia Imperiale on the list. Congrats to her. I was reluctant to blind buy due to the banana note, but if I am the lucky winner that is my choice. Thanks for all the informative wallet emptying suggestions. USA.

  • I enjoyed this year-end recap of niche luxury fragrances. I was most excited for Parfums De Marlys release of Althair. I live in Louisville, Kentucky. I would love to win a bottle of Ambrosia Imperiale. The combination of floral notes (jasmine, orchid), saffron, with edible notes (rum, dates, whipped cream, vanilla, orange) sounds very interesting and like a good warm, spicy scent for the winter. Thanks for offering this!

  • Good to hear still more likes and picks from people whose opinions I value. I’m deifinitely seeing crossovers through all these lists of scents that won a LOT of hearts! Again, the Want To Try List grows larger and larger….

I live in the US and would choose Ambrosia Imperiale if I were to be selected.

  • Solid top ten choices by Olya and Steven. Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale sounds so tempting with the banana note which I’ve noticed, almost a rarity in its utilization in perfumery. Soaked in spicy and intoxicating rum, mingled with dates, vanilla, caramel and whip cream to give it that amber appeal and uniqueness. A banana split sundae beckoning to be tasted is what my mind conjures when I think of this. Another house I’ve never tried Amouage Jubilation 40 piqued my interest with its iconic blackberry and opoponax opening and a tart and lively blackcurrant ingredient. Spices, cloves, intermingled with an oud, patchouli, ambergris dry down sounds like a tempting palette with a warming allure. Wishing the entire team at ÇaFleureBon a healthy and prosperous New Year. My choice if I’d win would be Ambrosia Imperiale. Thank you for the opportunity. New York, USA.

  • Definitely a great list by Steven and Olya to end off the series and year. Can’t say that I’ve experienced all of the fragrances on the list, but the ones I have are all solid picks. I have a sample of PdM Althair that I’ve been wearing for the past few days and it is an INCREDIBLE vanilla fragrance that for some reason reminds me of brown sugar boba. Definitely will be checking out the fragrances on Steven and Olya’s list (Creed Absolu Aventus was an amazing rendition of the original). If I were to win I’d love to try Ambrosia Imperiale for the banana note (first time I’ve seen it in a fragrance), but would be delighted with either.

  • Like I said in Danu Seith-Fyr and Rachel K. Ng takes on Top 10 of 2023 article , I’m not a fan of anything AI constructed, staring with images and definitely do not want AI in perfumery. On the other hand I’m loving everything in some of the other trends Olya Bar mentioned :

“This year’s narrative was beautifully crafted, with a dominant theme of luscious fruits, savory facets of nuts that found their way into many compositions, and a poignant homage to vanilla. This beloved ingredient was transformed in myriad ways, showing varied intensities, sweetness, and a bold edge across numerous houses.”
    ☆ Thameen London Bravi
I imagined making Ginger and Walnut Cake
    ☆Akro Bake
Oh’ you could definitely “eat it” , Bake was inspired by Crumbs & Dollies lemon cupcakes
    ☆ Parfums De Marly Althair
Orange Blossom Vanilla Cupcakes , sprinkled with Cinnamon is how Althair smells to me
    ☆ Amouage Guidance underated fragrance
☆ All Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja, Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis , Guerlain Tobacco Honey , Sora Dora Jany I’ll sample as soon as possible
    ☆ M. Micallef GNTONIC
Olya Bar take on GNTONIC made me think of making , and later on eating the Gin and Tonic Drizzled Cake with Lime Slices on top I do on private orders only, and drinking Sprite Soda with Lime again.
    ☆ Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia
Cécile Zarokian made a very special vanilla with Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia , the fragrance is quite complex going into multiple directions, from fresh , sweet, to smoky, fruity, boozy , leathery and even just a bit animalic . If I have to guess Cécile Zarokian used Vanilla Pompona some call Mexican Vanilla. Some Pastry Chefs rarely cook with it , because of its distinctive smoky, cherry and cinnamon nuances. To me Vanilla Edesia makes me think of making Chocolate Ganache Cake, and later on eating it while sitting on a leather couch with burning incense cons next to me. The whole thing is I how I think Vanilla Edesia smells , Olya is in the same page.
    ☆ Mancera Tonka Cola:
Olya’s take on Tonka Cola made me think of making Kola Nut Wedding Cake, and later on eating some on the wedding day with some Coca-Cola , definitely my kind of fragrance.
    ☆ Parfums Dusita Rosarine
There is a bit of sweetness in Rosarine , to me smells Ike Lychee Kheer dessert you can find in Thai restaurants and coffee shops.
    ☆ Amouage Jubilation 40
Original Jubilation XXV is just great. Smells a bit like a mix between BlackBerry crumble traybake and BlackBerry Swirl Muffins with honey butter both with cinnamon. Something smells like bay leaf to me in Jubilation 40.
    ☆ Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale
It sounds delicious fruity amber with banana soaked in rum ,caramel and whipped cream.. beautiful
Bertrand Duchaufour career is remarkable , he cooked so many successful, beautiful and popular fragrances , from Jubilation XXV from Amouage to Timbuktu and Noir Exquis from L’Artisan Parfumeur.
Being a Pastry Chef I’d love to win the beautiful gourmand called Ambrosia Imperiale
Appreciate the hard work, reading about your best , and the giveaway campaign

  • I would like to win gintonic and live in Spain.

I LOVE again their selection. Playa just caught me with Rosarine, cherry ambition, oud maracuyá and gintonic.

I agree with Steven in ambrosía imperiale, ganymede extrait and vanilla edesia. However I LOVE all of them.

  • Happy New Year to Cafleurebon Team! Wishing you all the best in the upcoming 2024!

Wow, what an impressive lineup of fragrances for the Best of 2023! Olya and Steven have curated an exquisite collection that truly captures the essence of this year’s olfactive masterpieces.

The description of Thameen London Bravi Cologne Elixir immediately drew me in with its luxurious blend of tuberose, honey, and walnut milk. It sounds like an olfactory dessert, perfectly encapsulating a festive celebration!

The Akro Bake by Olivier Cresp caught my attention with its gourmand charm resembling a lemon cupcake topped with meringue. The idea of an addictive scent that’s comforting and almost edible is utterly intriguing.

Parfums De Marly Althair’s fresh take on vanilla, paired with orange blossom and cardamom, presents an alluring contrast that I’m eager to experience. The combination of zest and warmth seems captivating.

Amouage Guidance, described as a masterful interpretation of sensuality with pear, almond milk, and frankincense, promises a dreamy olfactory journey. The poetic embrace and the blend of fruity richness sound divine.

The diverse range of Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum’s notes, from passion fruit to smoky oud, creates an adventurous and addictive aura.

Arquiste Louis de L’or’s blend of aldehydes, bergamot, and orange blossom dripping with honey evokes the romanticism of Versailles. It feels like a captivating journey through historical elegance and passion.

The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition’s playful mix of mandarin, cherry blossom, and saffron, combined with warm vanilla and musky guaiac wood, sounds like a sweet and intriguing fragrance. There is never enough of good cherry fragrances!
Overall, Olya and Steven have beautifully highlighted fragrances and each scent seems to carry a unique character!

I am from the EU (Germany) and would be happy to win M. Micallef`s GNTONIC as it seems like a refreshing and invigorating essence, akin to a gin and tonic, and really sounds perfect for any occasion!

  • floating down the lake in the early morning hours when the fog was covering the lake, making it hard to see too far ahead. Brava Honorine Blanc, who has masterfully crafted an unforgettable story that resonates deeply with the soul of Indian heritage—a fragrance that captivates, enchants, and leaves an indelible mark on the senses and a decadent trail behind it. A beautiful description by Olya really fascinated by the notes especially Tea and Praline in particular. is a reinterpretation of the classic Jubilation XXV. Jubilation 40 sounds like a magical concoction Spices, Patchouli, black currant, oud and ambergris sounds like a winner. A great choices by both Olya and Steven
If I am lucky to win I would love to win GN tonic micallef. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Thibaud Crivelli is like a global wanderer, and his travels are nothing short of extraordinary. Just tantalising combination of passion fruit and slightly animalic oud just sounds great. A wonderful description by Olya. Absolu Aventus is the much-anticipated flanker that is released 13 years after the release of the original. Another beautiful description by Steven I am loving darker ambience added to original Aventus dna. If I am successful I would love to win M Micallef GN tonic. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • David Furman says:

Where to I even begin. You obviously saved the best for last. Prior to this article I think SEVEN of these were on my radar and had my antennas in the wind, LOL. Jubilation 40, Gn Tonic, ATH Hard Candy Elixir, Ganymeade Extrait (I’ve never smelt only head about the orginal). Althair not so much. Heard great things but after owning an 8ml Pegasus if I buy my first PDM it’d be that or another heavy hitter from the house but also not too popular. I’ve been blessed to own Mancera Tonka Cola. It didnt disappoint but there’s a complexity lacking in a fragrance of the quality. That’s far from a knock to it, I’ve bought 12 Mannys in the last 5 months since introduction. All are unique creations, thoughtfully crafted, and have a place but with so many great options most of the attention goes to the most mentioned. I bought Roses Jasmine for a special person in my life. Had to try myself because so many mixed and moreso negative reviews. I dont like most women’s perfume but this is a regal beauty, plain and simple.
Lastly, with the Electimuss and Nativus you’ve covered all bases as well as remind all fragheads abroad to step out game up. 2023 has been a great year in the community and I anticipate the next one will keep things moving in the right direction. Thanks Cafleurbon family. Whatevers to win I want in…hoping to win bigtime. With love, from Jacksonville, NC

  • My favorite from this ‘top ten’ list is Amouage’s Guidance. First time I tried it it was incredible! The hazelnuts, vanilla, the fruitiness of the pear, the flowers in it… everything is blended to perfection! This can easily be signature scent if one is looking for such thing. Needless to say that the silage and longevity remain true to what we know from Amouage.

I am in Europe and I go for M. Micallef’s GNTONIC. It seems perfect for the upcoming spring! Thank you and Happy New Year!

  • I’ve been hearing/reading about Thameen all year, so I’ll have to seek that out to try. For the draw I’ll choose GNTONIC. US

  • How can one chose from so many creations without the guidance of our beloved experts at ÇaFleureBon? I do like to see two of my favorites perfumes of 2023 here: Ganymede Extrait and Oud Maracuja.

    GNTONIC, please! Cheers

    I live in Portugal

  • This sellection plays on my search for exoticism and complexity – especially with the blends like Oud Maracuja and Zafran Boise. I also have a long term penchant for well crafted blue bottles. GNTONIC with mint sounds so refreshing.
    I live in the EU.

  • Of these Amiuage Guidance is the only one I ha e been fortunate to try and it is lovely. Placing Dusita Rosarine, Akro Bake and Electumus Vanilla on my sample list. I agree w manybof the reviewers on the trend of vanilla and nutz/savory..both which I enjoy. Not sad to see fewer skin like scents..they are just a little less fun to me. I live in the US and wouls love to try the Navitus Ambrosia Imperiele

  • Micallef GNTONIC sounds so refreshing. That bottle is stunning. Olya: Fan of Guidance by Amouage. I hope that 7 virtues Cherry Ambition come to Italy. From Steven’s list Sora Dora sounds wonderful. Creed? (thanks for crediting the real perfumer)!! I live in the EU

  • Steven and Olya have wrapped up the year and the series with a fantastic list of scents. I haven’t tried them all, but the ones I did were impressive. PdM Althair is a sample I’ve been rocking lately and it’s a stunning vanilla scent that somehow makes me think of caramelized tapioca pearls. Definity need to get my nose on Jubilation 40 as the original is amazing and I’ve heard the new ones have been diluted. Also can’t wait to see what Aaron Terence Hughes is going to put out in 2024. I would love to win GNTonic which has been on my radar all year. NYC USA

  • Wishing you a joyous New Year! Eager to experience many of these. It’s hard to pick what want to win. I love G&T’s and I always enjoyed Ambrosia. I’m going with Ambrosia Imperiale. New Jersey, USA

  • The two adepts Redolessence and Olya Bar are found of the fragrances they found in 2023 , Olya more of nostalgia, luscious fruits, nuts and vanilla , Redolessence both of reinterpretations of the classics and also original creations
Out of all the best of choices they made i have smelled Parfums de Marly Althair, Akro Bake, Amouage Guidance and Creed Absolu Aventus.
I’m curious about, on Olya Bar side
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja due to tantalizing tartness of passion fruit, and smokiness
    M. Micallef GNTONIC due to olfactive equivalent of a gin and tonic refreshing report.
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia due to explosion of goodness report. Such naturally smelling , dark and creamy vanilla fragrances are not easy to find
Mancera Tonka Cola due to sip of sparkling Cola with Sicilian lemon report
Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis due to roasted pistachios and dancing better memories report
    On Redolessence side
Guerlain Tobacco Honey due to oud , tobacco and gourmand experience like no other report
Sora Dora Jany sure to warm apples, caramel and nutty sweetness report
Amouage Jubilation 40 due to blackberry and blackcurrant, incense and honeyed tobacco
Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir due to being an attar , 35% rose absolute, leather and vanilla
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale due to banana and rum , whipped cream and caramel report.
The olfactive equivalent of a gin and tonic M.Micallef GNTONIC I’d enjoy the most
    Much obliged
    EU

  • Another great list of fragrances! I enjoy cocktail based fragrances so both GNTONIC and Ambrosia Imperiale are appealing. I appreciate the crispness of a good gin and tonic and the spicy rum note sounds intoxicating. I would love to win Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale. I’m in MD, USA.

  • Happy new year!
Thanks for the inspiring list to Olya and Steven. It was a great pleasure for me to have this as first reading of 2024♥️
Must admit that M. Micallef GNTONIC is right on my alley. I imagine it’s the scent that wakes up the energy and pushes away the laziness.
    Hugs from Romania

  • Amanda32828 says:

Happy New Year, wishing you all another fantastic year full of excitement opportunities and many many perfumes. I think this is a list full of amazing perfumes, some that I have had the opportunity to enjoy and some that I have only heard about it, nevertheless a list full of top quality and very well known niche offerings. From this very well curated list, I am very impressed by Guerlain Tobacco Honey, Creed Absolu Aventus, Amouage Jubilation 40, and off course Micallef GNTONIC, being the 100ml bottle of GNTONIC my favorite in the event that I happen to win this awesome giveaway.
I think the Micallef GNTONIC will be fantastic for the summer time and in Florida undoubtedly a great performer.
Thank you for the opportunity to participate, commenting from Orlando, Fl, USA

  • I really enjoyed reading the two different perspectives on GNTonic so I would love to win that one. I’m in the U.K. Happy New Year!

  • Where these overlap and/or converge is interesting. I love the nut direction noted by Olya and that Guidance made both lists. I love everything about that one. Based on the reviews I now can’t wait to try GNTONIC, Altair, and Ganymede Extrait. And so many others of these! USA

  • I have so enjoyed reading the many top 10 lists this year. The crossovers between reviewers have been particularly noteworthy, given the many releases in 2023.
If I win, my choice would be Ambrosia Imperiale for several reasons. I’ve never purchased a Navitus fragrance, I admire Duchaufour and I enjoy Steven’s reviews and videos. I’m in the US.

  • Happy New Year!
Getting acquainted with both Olya’ s and Steven’ s picks, I feel like I’ m window browsing high end confectionery boutiques – mostly gourmand, mouth dripping aromas.
You can tell these are young people 🙂 One can only hope that skin scents will make a comeback, soon.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying the blitz reviews, imagining myself sipping on a GNTONIC. Or wait… that’s what I’d like to win, since I’m living in EU and wondering what a gin scent would feel on skin.

  • Sun-kissed memories faded after my vacation, but CaFleureBon’s fragrance lists rekindled the flame. And what a flame it was! Nestled amongst Steven’s usual brilliance and Olya’s perfect partner picks, I found an olfactory oasis: M. Micallef GNTONIC. Imagine the most refreshing gin and tonic on a desert day, its invigorating coolness captured in a stunning frosted green bottle. Astier and Nejman have woven magic here, a citrusy masterpiece that transcends gender and season. It starts with a whisper of cologne, a masculine nod, then bursts into a vibrant kaleidoscope of grapefruit, juniper, ginger, and delicate florals. GNTONIC isn’t just a scent, it’s an experience – a shot of summer happiness, savored anytime, anywhere. This one’s going straight to the top of my wishlist, a fragrant souvenir from my vacation that promises to chase away any UAE blues. Greetings from Abu Dhabi, UAE

  • I agree with Olya about the dominant themes of the year are luscious fruits, savory and nutty more powerful fragrances , and with Steven about the amount of flankers , and reinterpretations. No AI for me .
Thameen London Bravi falls into the elegant spicy and sweet floral category, and walnut milk accord is making it more suave .
Akro Bake Is delicious, other than the lemon cupcakes with merengue i smell something boozy too.
Parfums De Marly Althair Being a vain man compliments are really important to me. Althair with its amber accord , orange blossom , and spicy vanilla sweetness , for sure will get me unsolicited compliments , while smelling amazing.
Amouage Guidance i like fruits, flowers and resins fragrances
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Interesting contrast between the passion fruits, oud and incense
    M. Micallef GNTONIC
Olya Bar review of GNTONIC made me feel I’m in Ibiza and waiting for some big party on the beach to start.
    Electimuss Vanille Edesia (Cecile Zarokian):
Vanilla Edesia by Electimuss London i think is modern, multifaceted fragrance with a high compliment factor. All nuances i find attractive, the spices , the leather, the fruits and well dosed animalic alter ego.
Good performance, and complint factor are always welcomed , Cécile Zarokian known well how to make it happen
    Mancera Tonka Cola:
The carbonated Coca-Cola accord , the cinnamon , cherry and the comforting vanilla are so appealing to me. Haven’t drank Coca-Cola last few years , still just like Olya i know the feeling.
Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis can’t wait for the full review
Parfums Dusita Rosarine is high grade refined , and elegant fragrance. The modern rose with slight gourmand nuances, keeping the classy profile definitely sparked my interest.
Amouage Jubilation 40 I like the smokiness, the patchouli, the oud, fruits the honey sweetness, and everything else in its sophisticated character.
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale .I’m always ready for sensual, deep and rich cold weather fragrances done right ✅
Coziness, positive emotions , romantic occasions all are part of the festive sensation coming from Ambrosia Imperiale .I’ll gladly wear it on dates, or concerts.
I’d prefer Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Tobacco Honey is a great choice on the top ten, and Guerlain never disappoints. While I love honey fragrances in general, and can see how immortelle can mirror the note, I have yet to understand immortelle in a perfume formulation, so I am intrigued by Barrois Ganymede Extrait. Thank you for the wonderful recap and opportunity to try one of the fragrances. My choice, if I win, would be GNTONIC. Reader from Florida, US.

  • Beautiful lists again. If I would be the lucky winner, my choice is Micallef GNTONIC. Thank you for the chance. I live in Europe.

  • 2023 has ended , I enjoyed learning about Redolessence and Olya Bar 23′ best and I’ll try to express my opinion on the topic.
About brands making more nostalgic, more powerful, and more sweet fragrances I agree, flankers are on the rise too , all I agree with.
    ■ Thameen London Bravi Cologne Elixir tuberose, honey and boozy warmth
    ■ Akro Bake not on every day basis, but when on more festive occasions I’d love to smell like lemon cupcakes with merengue topping
    ■ Parfums De Marly Althair fresh vanilla with boozy orange blossom charisma
    ■ Amouage Guidance fruits, flowers and resins
    ■ Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja partially fruity, partially smoky and animalic
    ■ M. Micallef GNTONIC when I’m clubbing I’d love to smell like gin and tonic, mouthwatering and refreshing cocktail
    ■ Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia (Cecile Zarokian) spicy and edgy vanilla pushing the boundaries to the whole different levels.
    ■ Mancera Tonka Cola
Fizzy, sparkling and boozy , I have a sample
    ■ Parfums Dusita Rosarine
For a long time I want to try Parfums Dusita fragrances
    Olya Bar
    ■ Guerlain Tobacco Honey love everything Guerlain
    ■ Sora Dora Jany delicious puff pastry
    ■ Amouage Jubilation 40 original plus deep base of woods, blackcurrant and a touch of animalic , more daring than the original
    ■ Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir highly concentrated attar with 35% rose absolute , 5% oud , raspberries and vanilla
    ■ Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale
Amber fragrance with boozy banana ?
    Micallef GNTONIC is my choice
Thanks to Redolessence, Olya Bar and for the giveaway

Thanks for the nice lists Steven and Olya.

2023 certainly seemed to be the year of the gourmands.

I would love to win a bottle of Ambrosia Imperiale – such a unique fragrance with the banana note.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

GnTonic is characterized by its tonic, fresh, sensual and refined trail. A shot of a rare aromatic vivacity to be offered anytime, anywhere.
    I am from EU

  • Industry is indeed growing at the speed of light . I’m one of those enthusiasts who’s looking for more detailed information on mostly Cafleurebon, and also YouTube, TikTok is not for me.

    Thameen London Bravi
Heady tuberose scares me a bit, on the other hand the walnut milk excites me

    Akro Bake
Big fan of Olivier Cresp, genuinely love gourmands especially when there’s anything boozy, even in smaller doses , Bake is a winner in my book. I can see the lemon cupcakes comparison but where’s the boozy part Olya? 🙂

    Parfums De Marly Althair
Althair is so tranquil , fresher than expected , not as heavy on the sweetness vanilla and sweeter and more musky to Steven. I can smell more cinnamon than cardamom actually

Amouage Guidance gorgeous blend i agree, to me pear is briefly detectable in the opening only. I can smell leather, maybe there saffron in Guidance.

Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja why was i not aware of such beauty?!?

    M. Micallef GNTONIC
I believe GNTONIC possesses a distinct “Enjoy your life the way you think it’s appropriate” spirit ,with a classical cocktail, beach atmosphere with some surfing too.

    Electimuss Vanille Edesia
Fragrance with a few interesting ideas and twists. I like how the vanilla is not ultra sweet and animalic, but more comfortable and cumin is on the spicy, rather than BO side.

    Mancera Tonka Cola
What surprised me a lot in Olya’s thoughs of Tonka Cola is the fact she never mentioned Cognac, it’s very much a boozy fragrance I believe. I think Tonka Cola smells like Cognac and Coke coctail , with lime wedge and a few maraschino cherries for garnish.

Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis adventurous fragrance, I’ll be looking for your review

    Parfums Dusita Rosarine
    Elegant and cheerful fragrance

Guerlain Tobacco Honey Honey and tobacco will never get out of style

    Sora Dora Jany
I’m not familiar with the brand, Jani sounds delicious

Amouage Jubilation 40 at least the opening smells like a different fragrance to me compared to Jubilation XXV but I smelled it briefly on a blotter only so ..

    Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale
Banana soaked in rum, whipped cream and caramel…sold .
I own Navus , XO Brandy, Absolutio , and Vivamor , and I’d absolutely love to win Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale

    Thank you for the opportunity

  • Happy new year dear members,
Thanks for the great selection of top scents of 2023 i’m entering for the GNTONIC giveaway as i’m from EU and also in need of fresh scents 😀

    Best regards everyone

  • So interesting choices!
MAbB Hanymede Extrait is better than original one!
    Would like to win GNTONIC.
    USA, DE
Read all descriptions with please but intrigued by Vanilla Edesia especially because love vanilla and Cecile Zarokyan creations!

  • I Realky Want to Try gintonic, smells like my to go drink. Love all the year end lists. Im from eu

  • I really enjoyed reading all these end of the year lists. There’s a wide range of interesting releases to check out and I appreciated the interesting blurbs highlighting each. Thanks!

Olya made an interesting point about interest in perfumery and where enthusiasts gather; I feel like I can barely keep up with all the information out there, prefer written content, and am just totally out of the loop on TikTok. I haven’t tried any new releases that focus on nutty accords, but I finally picked up a bottle of Fat Electrician. From her list, Lilanur Parfums Zafran Boise stands out for me, with its unique focus on Kashmiri Kahwa Tea. It sounds transportive. GNTONIC also sounds like an excellent choice aspirational wear in the winter and obvious choice for a hot summer day. Cool bottle too! From Steven’s list, I’m really intrigued by that tobacco-gourmand combination in Guerlain Tobacco Honey, Absolu Aventus (we didn’t need another take on Aventus, but this one does sound interesting), Marc-Antoine Barrois’s focus on immortelle in Ganymede Extrait, and (again) Micallef GNTONIC.

I’m in the USA. I’d love to win the bottle of Parfums M. Micallef GNTONIC. Thanks!

It has been a lot of fun to read the top 10 lists of ÇaFleureBon editors and contributors. I have especially enjoyed when different editors have the same favorites as other editors–I like comparing the descriptions and impressions.
I will definitely try Zafran Boise which was on Olya’s list. Her description completely sold me. I want to try Ganymede Extrait from Steven’s list.
If I were the winner of the draw, I would choose Ambrosia Imperiale.
    I live in the USA.

  • I read this article with big pleasure – so many perfumes that I haven’t tested with intriguing description!
Love Jubilation and Jubilation 40 is amazing!
Also love Dusita perfumes and even not fan of roses but want to test this perfume!
Would happy to win, especially GNTONIC

  • What an amazing way to finish the year with amazing Olya’s and Steven’s list!
It was an amazing year for perfumery and these lists are just a fantastic way to know more gems.
I think that I could have these fragrances for a year and be more than happy. I hope I get my nose on everything that I have not tried yet.
I would love to win Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale.

The two fragrances that have been on my radar are also on both Steven’s and Olya’s lists. They are Parfums De Marley Althair and M. Micallef GNTonic. I’m a vanilla fan and a gin and tonic fan… easy choice 🙂
Should I win the giveaway, my choice is GNTonic.

  • For the Best of 2023 fragrances Olya Bar observations are based on nostalgia, fruits, vanilla and the industry growing exponentially, for Redolessence on original fragrances and reinterpretations of the classics
Out of all the picks , including honorable mentions I’m interested in
Thameen London Bravi because of the boozy warmth and honey
Akro Bake because of the lemon dessert idea
Parfums de Marly Althair because of the orange zest ,cardamom and vanilla
Amouage Guidance because of the incense, fruits and resins
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja because of how fruity and woody it is
Arquiste L’’Or de Louis because of the cozy enchanting escape
M.Micallef GNTONIC because of the refreshing aromatic cocktail idea
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia because of the quality of raw ingredients, combination of rose ,incense, heliotrope on top of exquisite vanilla with spicy edge
Mancera Tonka Cola because I own it too
Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis because of the toasted pistachios and rich saffron
Parfums Dusita Rosarine rose garden and cocoa
Guerlain Tobacco Honey because of how tenacious the vanilla and tobacco are
Sora Dora Jany because of the novel gourmand experience
Amouage Jubilation 40 because it’s a build on top of Jubilation XXV, changed but still relying on the classic0
Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir because it’s the only attar here , and the very high concentration of rose absolute and oud.
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale because it sounds delicious, and I never smelled banana fragrance before.
My preference would be M.Micallef GNTONIC
Thank you for your 2023 observations, and the generosity

  • Regis Monkton says:

I would like to win either Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale or Micallef GNTONIC, but if I have to choose just one to be entered for, then I choose Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale because I’d like to try more fragrances made by Bertrand Duchaufour. I ‘d like to try all of the fragrances mentioned by both Olya and Steven. I appreciate learning more about Olya’s taste by means of her recommendations, and I appreciate how descriptive she is. Steven and I seem to appreciate a lot of the same fragrances, e.g. from the fragrances released in 2023, I’m very interested in trying Amouage Jubilation 40 and Creed Absolu Aventus. I live in the U.S.A.

  • Besides the great picks from the editors in this article, I must say that my full attention is caught by GNTONIC from M. Micallef. From somebody who regularly drinks gin tonic as the first choice while out in town, I must say that this creation of M. Micallef could be a suitable companion to a memorable spring/summer night out when the weather is at the border between warm and chilly – just perfect -, and the friends, overall vibe and atmosphere are something to be remembered for months to come. A great fragrance only amplifies those feelings and the memories are easier to be remembered when associated with a particular smell.
Now I really crave one of those nights with my friends out while having a cold gin tonic.

Thanks for the reviews and for the giveaway!

  • Olya Bar is on point, industry is changing, for good or bad it’s changing fast.
Cafleurebon and YouTube > Instagram , TikTok i believe is a childish platform. Never been a fan of skin scent perfumes , so longer lasting and loud wave is something I’m looking for anyway.
Thameen London Bravi (Bruno Jovanovic) boozy floral with ginger
Akro Bake (Olivier Cresp) is a lemony dessert gourmand, but not super sweet i own a decant.
Parfums De Marly Althair (Hamid Merati-Kashani and Ilias Ermenidis) rich textured arure ,with spices and vanilla
Amouage Guidance (Quentin Bisch) milky smoky pear
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum (Jordi Fernandez) adventurous fruity woody fragrance
    M. Micallef GNTONIC (Jean-Claude Astier and Geoffrey Nejman) most refreshing release of the year? I like refreshing magic ,and I like Desir Toxic and Eden Falls too .
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia (Cecile Zarokian)
Spicy sweet leather, rose and a spicy edge, and made by Cécile Zarokian? I can tell Electimuss London commitment to artistry and innovation continues with Vanilla Edesia.
Mancera Tonka Cola cherry Cola, lime and maybe even slightly boozy
Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis (Bertrand Duchaufour) i like toasted pistachios and saffron
Parfums Dusita Rosarine (Pissara Umavijani) cocoa on top of roses
    Olya Bar
    XX
Guerlain Tobacco Honey (Delphine Jelk) give me, give me
Sora Dora Jany novel gourmand with baked apples and caramel
    Amouage Jubilation 40 (Bertrand Duchaufour)
One of the biggest transitions? Jubilation XXV is pretty much linear fragrance, I wonder how different Jubilation 40 is.
Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir (Aaron Terence Hughes) real deal Unicorn Elixir
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale (Bertrand Duchaufour) unique gourmand with caramel ,rum and bananas
    Redolessence
Again speaking of access problems, unlike in US, here in Germany unfortunately I don’t have access to Navitus Parfums.
    M.Micallef GNTONIC is my choice
    Thanks to all involved

  • Utmost respect for people who have high standards , and want to smell good yet unique.
If I’m looking to buy €200 and above fragrance I’m looking for lots of details, and not reels , I don’t use TikTok at all.
Reading Olya Bar and Redolessence mini reviews makes me want to smell literally all , and 13 asap .
Thameen London Bravi lush and boozy floral
Akro Bake mouth watering lemon cupcakes
Parfums De Marly Althair fresher vanilla with orange zest and spices
Amouage Guidance almond milk , flowers and resins
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum
    M. Micallef GNTONIC stimulating aromatic cocktail
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia novelty vanilla, overdose of raw materials ethically sourced by local farmers, rich and woody.
Mancera Tonka Cola cherry cola in a bottle
Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis traveling with roasted pistachios
Parfums Dusita Rosarine cocoa and roses
    Guerlain Tobacco Honey tobacco magic
Sora Dora Jany baked apples with nuts
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale intoxicating caramel and banana gourmand
The fizzy zesty M.Micallef GNTONIC would be great
    Thank you kindly, from EU

  • Fantastic article, kudos to Olya and Steven who made it possible . I’ll share my thoughts on the topics, and of course fragrances I know, or want to try , and compare them with what Olya and Steven are getting.
In terms of fruity, and savory nutty , vanilic ambers being trendy i agree , at the same time there are a lot of the chypre , woody , super green, animalics , and heady florals too . AI has entered the chat , thankfully not big time in perfumery. I fear that in a few years human perfumers may not be needed at all , such ideas are making me mad and sad at the same time.
Younger demographics are fans of TikTok, to me is a joke.
Thameen London Bravi composed by Bruno Jovanovic
I’m interested in Thameen fragrances , anf creamy floral with honey, with cozy milky accords.
Akro Bake composed by Olivier Cresp
Bake is a happy fragrance , lemony , zesty, a bit boozy , realistic and definitely not gooey sweet.
Parfums De Marly Althaïr composed by Hamid Merati-Kashani and Ilias Ermenidis
My opinion of the fragrance is quite different from what Olya is getting, Steven is on my side
To me Althaïr is full time syrupy sweet spicy gourmand, very loud too. There is some slight freshness in the background, but personally I would not call the fragrance fresh .I believe every fragrance, vanilla and gourmand lover should sample Althaïr no doubt a beautiful , well composed basket full of boozy bourbon vanilla, cinnamon, elemi resins and hefty amounts of cardamom.
Amouage Guidance composed by Quentin Bisch Fruity, lactonic, nutty and incensy.
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum composed by Jordi Fernandez
Tropical fruity-woody fragrance done right. The oud is not animalic at all to me , the leather in the drydown is.
Arquiste Louis de L’or composed by Rodrigo Flores-Roux
The jasmine goes into indolic and slightly carnal territory
    M. Micallef GNTONIC composed by Jean-Claude Astier and Geoffrey Nejman
I’m a strict teetotaller, so no sips for me , but I absolutely love boozy fragrances, Iikr the beach and fun characteristics , on top of musc and creamy sandalwood.
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia composed by Cecile Zarokian is both alluring and captivating, in my opinion in a more grown up way . Deep and complex foundation with a bit of cumin, and personally I get a bit of leather.
    Mancera Tonka Cola
Tonka Cola became a hit in the fragrance community for a good reason, such a bubbly and happy fragrance. I love the childhood memories Olya had with Coca-Cola, and the way the fragrance warm up all , sweet fizzy , fruity and just a bit boozy
Vilhelm Parfumerie Faces of Francis composed by Bertrand Duchaufour
A was expecting a different fragrance, to me it smells like a close relative to Baklava Royale by Navitus, again composed by Bertrand Duchaufour, maybe a bit fresher and leathery.
Parfums Dusita Rosarine composed by Pissara Umavijani
Rosarine is Rosarine more contemporary , younger cousin to Nahema by Guerlain with slightly jammy rose cacao, vanilla and the fruity nuances.
Guerlain Tobacco Honey composed by Delphine Jelk I haven’t smelled the latest Guerlain fragrance, both from the regular and higher end lines. If Steven thinks it’s unique i presume he’s right.
Sora Dora Jany composed by …
I like the idea of baked apples
Amouage Jubilation 40 composed by … not sure who , I mean at first the fragrance was officially announced by Amouage on their Instagram as Renault Salmon made , then they changed it to co-created by Renault Salmon and Bertrand Duchaufour, and now Renault Salmon was removed from the creators list , and only Bertrand Duchaufour is listed as sole creator?!?
Jubilation 40 opening to me is very different from its predecessor, to me it’s very herbal , medicinal and healthy on the bay leaf. When it settles down the magic happens
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia composed by Cecile Zarokian is both alluring and captivating, in my opinion in a more grown up way . Deep and complex foundation with a bit of cumin, and personally I get a bit of leather.
Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir is a gem I need to know soon
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale composed by Bertrand Duchaufour
Most bananas in perfumery are either super artificial, or too green, I wonder what kind of fragrance Bertrand Duchaufour composed, a stunner if I have to guess. So bananas, rum, caramel? I’m all in.
Bertrand Duchaufour Ambrosia Imperiale I’d like to win
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • This list is amazing and had several eye grabbers on there like the Aventus flanker and Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede Extrait that I’ve had on my list for a little while. If lucky, I would love to win Micallef GNTONIC for the effervescence and bubbliness 🙂 I’m in USA

  • All in all the two adepts Olya Bar and Redolessence are found of the new fragrances they discovered in 2023 , although Olya
believes there’s maybe too much…dusting off artisanal offerings wow , to use the words of another adept Karl Topham.
Out of all the best of year choices they made i have smelled a few Parfums de Marly Althair, Akro Bake, Mancera Tonka Cola, Parfums Dusita Rosarine and , Creed Absolu Aventus .
From the ones I don’t know I’m curious about, on Olya Bar side
Thameen London Bravi due to tuberose and walnut milk
Amouage Guidance due to the name of the brand alone, it’s Amouage after all
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum due to smoky animalic oud and sweet and tart fruits combination
    M. Micallef GNTONIC due to the frosted glass bottle, rare aromatic vivacity and gin and tonic cocktail
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia due to exotic fruits, leather and bitter almonds
Guerlain Tobacco Honey due to tobacco and honey and Redolessence calling it unique
Sora Dora Jany due to caramel and baked apples
Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir due to being attar , 35% rose absolute, leather and vanilla
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale due to the fact I’ve never smelled banana fragrances before ,and it’s not banana rum and dates too.
The bubbly intoxicating M.Micallef GNTONIC I’d enjoy the most
    Much obliged

  • If I have to summarize the amount of pleasing to the eyes, and mind fragrance , and fragrance trends information I’ll start with what Olya said about the industry, perfumes are now more powerful, more nutty ,and also a lot more people are looking for niche and indie fragrances.
    Thameen London Bravi
The only Thameen London I’ve smelled is Carved Oud , Bravi feels so upscale , and refined. I like the saffron , ginger and vanilla cozy and inviting embrace, and the playful tuberose and honey.
Akro Bake I’m happy to have
Parfums De Marly Althair is refined sweet and musky amber , centered around delicious bourbon vanilla ,resins, different spices and positive emotions.
    Amouage Guidance
    Poetic gourmand
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum teasing the senses fragrance
    LilaNur Parfums Zafran Boise
Floral gourmand with tea and saffron
    M. Micallef GNTONIC
When I saw the name of the fragrance, immediately I thought “Summer is finally here” .
I no longer drink like I used to in my younger years, but I’m all for a few nice cocktails ones in a while , on the beach or in front of the fireplace.
    Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia
Vanilla and Cécile Zarokian is a match made in Heaven, Cafe Cabanel, Ani , Material , and the latest beauty Vanilla Edesia
    Mancera Tonka Cola
Sparkling , cherry, sweet cinnamon, edible warmth, Olya showed all the beautiful aspects of Tonka Cola
    Parfums Dusita Rosarine
    Relaxing fragrance
Amouage Jubilation 40 fruity resinous sweetness, tobacco and classic feel
Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir real deal fruity leather with oud
    Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale
Happy to know the fragrance is made by such a great, and accomplished perfumer like Bertrand Duchaufour.
I’m on a diet right now, and the soaked in rum banana, vanilla cream and caramel puts Ambrosia Imperiale in a drool worthy category. Maybe the low carb diet amplifies the feeling , but I’m literally drooling at the moment.
Aubade (Lyrik) , The Embrace and Navus are the Navitus Parfums fragrances I own , and if lucky I’d like to win Ambrosia Imperiale
    Thanks for the draw

  • Let the Top 10 of 2023 games … continue with the last 8th round
    Olya Bar vs Steven Gavrielatos
Variety is a factor in both contributors picks. After reading the article I can say i like Olya and Steven picks equally
The amount of new releases is staggering, more and more strong fruity gourmands with nuts are on horizon , rightly said.
Out of Olya Bar picks I like:
Akro Bake – lemon cupcakes gourmand charm
Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum – tart passion fruit, smokiness and adventures
    M. Micallef GNTONIC – fragrance that can make me feel like it’s Summer, relaxing and drinking ice cold gin and tonic
Out of Olya Bar honorable mentions I like
Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia – novelty , high quality ingredients, lots of interesting nuances fresh , spicy , gourmand and woody , stunning creation
Mancera Tonka Cola – cherries, childhood days and Coca-Cola.
Out of Steven Gavrielatos picks I like
Guerlain Tobacco Honey – mysterious tobacco and honey
Amouage Jubilation 40 – both Jubilation XXV and bolder Jubilation 40 are new to me. I like how complex the fragrance, it’s not just a high concentration. Honeyed tobacco, different dark berries and incense.
Sora Dora Jany- sweet warm baked apples
Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn Elixir – the attar moved Michael to tears
Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale – fruity amber made in a different way, with bananas , whipped cream and rum
    My pick is M.Micallef GNTONIC
    Thank you, and fingers crossed

  • Big time yes to artisanal perfumery, daring approaches and aesthetics, loud fragrances and big time no to artificial intelligence.
I’m picky about fragrances I’m wearing, and i have to say I’m impressed by Redolessence Olya Bar choices , 6 are in my collection Akro Bake, Parfums de Marly Althair, Amouage Guidance, Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja, Mancera Tonka Cola interestingly enough all chosen my Olya Bar, Redolessence is a fan of Althair too. Personally I’m looking for not just quality fragrances, but quality fragrances that do perform, I need to be able to catch whiffs of the fragrance I’m wearing for at least 5-6 hours. Skin scents are not something I look for. Other than Cafleurebon and YouTube there are insightful people on Instagram too , but I won’t take seriously advices or reviews on TikTok .
    -Akro Bake
I like lemon cupcakes, the natural and close to the real desert aroma of Bake , its chewy feel , and the fact it’s made by Olivier Cresp.
-Parfums De Marly Althair I’ve never smelled before, I like the citruses , vanilla, the amber accord too.
-Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja Extrait De Parfum playing with contrast smoky oud , and tropical fruits.
    -M. Micallef GNTONIC
Personally I’m glad GNTONIC is not super boozy and sweet juvenile cocktail , but made of finest ingredient in familiar , but modernized gin and tonic combination , with musk and sandalwood.
-Electimuss London Vanilla Edesia every man needs a perfectly fitting tailor made suit suit , brown loafers and a fragrance like Vanilla Edesia. I like the colors of the bottle, the non sugarike gourmand vanilla , the sense of refinery is tickling my fancy even more.
    -Mancera Tonka Cola
The fizzy edible warmth, floral freshness, comforting vanilla and resins all add to the composition in a great way
-Parfums Dusita Rosarine full of the joy and amity fragrances
-Guerlain Tobacco Honey up until now I’ve never smelled Guerlain fragrance i’d call tenacious
-Amouage Jubilation 40 better than Jubilation XXV but not by a lot
    -Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale
Huge names working on a fragrances for Navitus is to be expected , I’m so pumped for Ambrosia Imperiale. Bertrand Duchaufour is a famous perfumer for a good reason, double-breasted. Aged rum , caramel, spices and bananas …can’t wait.
    Ambrosia Imperiale would be great
Thank you Olya, Steven , Navitus , M.Micallef

  • Michael Prince says:

I love so many new releases of 2023! Steven and Olya did an incredible job of picking so many great fragrances. Vanilla Edesia by Cecile Zarokian seems to be an amazing resinous Vanilla fragrance that is shared by both of them and I am a huge fan of Cecile Zarokian’s work. Parfums de Marly Althair has been getting a lot of lot of well deserved hype and has been one of my favorite releases as well. Guerlain Tobacco Honey is another fragrance that has a DNA that truly resonates with me, but I haven’t tried it yet. If I win I would pick Navitus Parfums Ambrosia Imperiale which sounds like a gourmand masterpiece. I am from the USA.

  • Sherin Thomas says:

Another amazing list of fragrances to check out. I love tonic themed fragrances, and GNTONOC sounds like something that I’d really enjoy. I’d love to win a bottle of GNTONIC. I live in PA USA.
