As a fan of gourmand and vanilla perfumes, I was eagerly awaiting Parfums de Marly Althaïr to arrive in the U.S. Althaïr is composed by Principal Perfumer Hamid Merati-Kashani (he is the nose for Parfums de Marly Layton, Pegasus, Layton Exclusif, Percival, Sedley, Percival Exclusif, Darcy, Akaster and co-composed Oriana) and Ilias Ermenidis.

Parfums de Marly Althaïr (pronounced al-TI-EAR) is as an ode to Bourbon Vanilla from Madagascar. Althaïr is “vanilla-forward”, but not overly sweet on my skin, nor is it heavy. There is freshness from the citruses, showing the skill  required. Hamid Merati-Kashani, told me “it is not easy to combine citrus with vanilla without it turning sticky”. There is depth  from the amber accord (I believe uses the resin elemi with its multi-faceted scent profile- citrusy, woody, bright and spicy). Althaïr is a genderless fragrance that I am excited to wear when the temperature is cooler, as I suspect the richness of the star ingredient will be amplified. The ambery colored flacon is a good clue of what is inside, so if you are looking for a new vanilla fragrance for Autumn and you do not want to smell like a cupcake, this is an elegantly crafted perfume, you will reach for again and again. –MIchelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Top Notes, Orange Blossom, Bergamot, Cinnamon; Heart Notes; Bourbon Vanilla, Elemi; Base Notes Guaiacwood, Ambrofix©, Praline, Musk

Finally it’s here! I love the direction Parfums De Marly is going in adding more colored bottles to their line. Yes, I could tell from the notes the color of the bottle reflects what’s on the inside. Steven said this is a vanilla heavy fragrance which lucky for me, it’s my favorite note! Also, thanks to Michelyn for disclosing how to pronounce Althaïr (I won’t be disclosing how I was pronouncing it). Cheers from NJ, USA.

  • I am so excited for this launch! Steven mentioned this is a vanilla heavy fragrance, and boy oh boy am I excited! I can’t wait to add this one to my collection! And I am so glad to know that Michelyn enjoyed this!

  • From the reading I learned this fragrance is “vanilla-forward” with citrus notes. From the video I enjoyed hearing this was “a little musky, a little fresh”. US

  • Very stoked on this fragrance! Citruses and vanilla are some of my favorite notes. Felt like I was there smelling the fragrance with steven lol! He definitely is my favorite fragrance youtuber. Definitely am looking for a vanilla that doesn’t make me smell like a cupcake like MIchelyn described. I am located in the USA. I do follow @cafleurebonofficial on instagram ( my username is bbyboyishh ) Cheers!

I was waiting for this review from Steven and he delivered. I am excited to hear his thoughts and I absolutely love the color of the bottle…The article is very informative and I love that Michelyn taught us how to pronounce it. I would love to add this to my collection. The notes sound Amazing. I live in the USA.

  • Loved Steven’s detailed review! Looking forward to trying that amber accord in Althair. Michelyn’s introduction beautifully set the stage for this fragrance journey. Can’t wait to experience Althair!

  • Huge Fan of Parfum de Marly and have all of their men’s fragrances. My tastes align heavily with Steven’s so from his review I’m sure that I will love this release.

  • Renato Carotti says:

Steven’s review is really insightful and Michelyn has helpful info as well. I really like vanilla scents and this would be perfect for the Fall season! Great pumpkin color bottle too, almost perfect for Autumn!

  • From Michelyn’s introduction I loved the enthusiasm for this new release and especially their mentioning of how the perfumer was able to combine the citrus and vanilla scents without it becoming too sticky or smelling like a cupcake.

From Steven’s review I loved that I could hear him pronounce the name properly and his breakdown of all the notes. Also appreciate his comparison to a few other fragrances for reference.

Super excited to try this and would LOVE to win a bottle!

  • I just recently got into fragrances, and I´ve had the pleasure of trying out a lot of de Marly perfumes as I´ve only heard great things. And since both Steven and Michelyn said that its a Vanilla heavy fragrance, I am even more excited to try it out too. Sot far I am looking forward to Spicebomb Extreme or maybe Calvin Klein Eternity, as it fits my current budget more than basically any Parfum de Marly.

  • I love this house and have been waiting for a new release from them for some time now. This one has me excited to try it. I’m a big admirer of alot of vanilla fragrances and that includes many gourmands. I like that this one has some freshness mixed in with the vanilla and spices. I hope to be able to try it soon.
    Cheers, Chris

  • I can’t wait to smell this I would love to add it to my Husbands collection.
Michelyn’s Description sounds like a very lovely scent and similar to Pegasus exclusive

  • I was just reading some user’s opinions on this new scent and I WANT It!!! I lover the PDM DNA. Now, reading MIchelyn’s review and learning it’s a vanilla forward version of that DNA, I really want it! Steven’s review added to the notes with the amber and resins. I also love sweet scents that are addictive. I must have this! New Jersey, USA

  • I love vanilla fragrances and am so excited about this release from Parfums de Marly. Althaïr sounds like the perfect autumn scent. Steven and MIchelyn‘s description of this scent has me anxiously awaiting a whiff of some wonderfully sweet, vanilla, and spicy combination I can not wait to try! TX, USA

  • I really love Steven reviews and cafleurebon is the best site about perfumary in this world!! I really hope win this giveway because I’m a gourmand lover!! I’m from Miami Florida!

  • Dariush Ilghari says:

I love PDM and looking forward to trying the new masterpiece! I enjoyed Steven’s review and Michelyn’s introduction. Thx

  • Exited for this new drop! PDM always smashes it out of the park. Also perfectly just in time for the season!.

  • I am really excited for another parfum de marly frag I was watching it ever since the leaks started to come out. Parfum de marly does all their fragrances so well. I can’t wait to get my nose on this. The perfumer who worked on this fragrance is also so well renowned so I know it’s going to be a brilliant creation.

  • What I liked about Steven’s YouTube video is how he explained that Althaïr is being released at the right time as it is best suited for colder weather. What I liked about Michelyn’s review is the description of the flacon being indicative of what’s inside. I followed @cafleurebonofficial on instagram username on there is also Qwapie!

  • Vanilla seems to be a big trend in masculine perfumes as of late and I always find myself struggling to find something unique. For the most part, I have yet to find the right balance of vanilla and spices to make me feel confident. So many times things are overly sweet. I am a big fan of PDM and have a history of liking their gourmand masculine offerings. The thing that intrigues me is the difference of opinion between Steven and Michelyn. One says it’s “not overly sweet” and won’t have you “smelling like a cupcake” while the other says “this will satisfy your sweet tooth.” Perhaps this is the one that rides the line well enough to put a vanilla focused fragrance as a cold weather daily driver. I would love to get a chance to wear this one this fall, I know my wife would approve.

  • I appreciate MIchelyn’s description of PDM Althaïr as vanilla forward, but not too sweet. I’m picky about my vanilla fragrances and do not want to “smell like a cupcake”. Steven mentioned an unconventional amber accord and the addictive quality of Althaïr. Sounds like a real unique vanilla fragrance for fall! I follow on Instagram: @candy_hxo

  • Very cool that they combined the vanilla with some citrus, really interested to try this one. Steven seemed to love this one talking about the uniqueness of the amber accord. I only wish they had named it something a little easier to pronounce lol. Cheers from NYC

  • hammyfragrance says:

I’ve been very interested in learning about this new PDM fragrance. Steven always does a really good job of communicating how a fragrance comes across and the right situations to use it. I appreciate his input in videos. Michelyn is so descriptive and does a great job conveying to my mind what this fragrance is like. I’m looking forward to smelling this one and wearing it in the coming months!

  • From the reading I learned this fragrance is “vanilla-forward” with citrus notes. From the video I enjoyed hearing this was “a little musky, a little fresh”. US

  • Excited about this new release from PDM. Michelyn and Steven both agree this is definitely a great fragrance for cooler weather (Fall). Love how the notes are from different countries. They sound amazing. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • I have been so eager to try Althair. First, I appreciated Steven telling us how to pronounce it (and the linguistic breakdown)! But he also had me at “vanilla heavy”, and the unconventional amber accord being smooth and resinous. Similarly, Michelin’s mention of it being vanilla forward without being cloying, and with some citrus for freshness. I just know I would love this one! I am in IL, USA. Thanks!

  • A gourmand vanilla that’s addictive smelling, sweet, and doesn’t smell like a cupcake? Sign me up! I am in agreement that this release is well timed. Nothing goes better with cardamom and vanilla than a New England Autumn/Winter. Hopefully I can test drive this new edition to the PDM lineup. Stoked for this fragrance, purely from the perspective of the artform, PDM is my favorite house.

  • FragranceIsMe says:

Oh My GOODNESS. I had the opportunity to get my nose on this fragrance earlier this week. It is a TOTALLY ADDICTIVE creation from Parfums de Marley. The Vanilla in this is so sophisticated and smooth. This is a “Love At First Sniff” fragrance for me. As always, both Michelyn and Steven’s reviews are SPOT ON…and like Steven, this ranks in my top 3 from this house. This will be one that will be in my collection for life!
    USA

  • I love how MIchelyn explained that Althair is elegantly done vanilla fragrance without smelling like a cupcake. It was also great when Steven revealed the countries of origin for the main ingredients. I currently own Layton and Carlisle but would love to add Althair to my collection. KY/USA

  • I have been anticipating this fragrance for a while now. The way Steven broke it down just let me know that it’s going to be the perfect fall/winter scent for me! PDM rarely disappoints!

  • perfumebull215 says:

Excited, and hopeful to get my nose on this one guys. PDM is one those always masterfully blends their fragrances. Thank you.

  • I am excited for this release as PDM is a favorite house of mine and I love vanilla, particularly bourbon vanilla. I enjoyed Steven’s review as always as he follows a clean and professional format. I enjoyed that Michelyn included a thought from the actual perfumer in her review.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

Wow michelyn makes this sound so warm and inviting. Stevens reviews are always so helpful. I’d love to win and live in Indiana.

  • Vanilla and resins, although I love dark fragrances so I can’t wait to try this on, this one isn’t dark which would be a welcomed addition …

    Indiana USA

  • Fernando Fernandez says:

Great details by Steven and Michelyn. Good to know when’s the best time to wear this. Been waiting for this one. Can’t wait to try it out. Great bottle color, too.

  • Huge fan of the Parfums de Marley brand, I am also a gourmand lover. I would greatly appreciate this in my collection. Steven’s review really covered this new release. I am excited to test this fragrance and potentially own a bottle.

  • House of PDM is my second favorite house. I have several of there offerings. I would love to get a sample of this and eventually a full bottle. Sounds great. Thank you for the article.

  • I LOVE the house of PDM. I have recently got a full size bottle of Percival as my swiss-army knife signature scent. I’m looking forward to smell Althaïr

  • What I enjoyed about Steven’s YouTube review is how he described the notes and conjured a visual in my mind of walking amidst a cozy and lush escape during the fall season while the notes of Althaïr permeate in the air and combine into one scrumptious composition which satiates the senses. What I enjoyed about Michelyn’s take is how it’s an ode to bourbon vanilla from Madagascar. One of my favorite notes in perfumery is vanilla and the way it plays with the other notes sure sounds delicious. Also the color of the bottle exudes a warmth to it which plays nice with the transition from summer to fall. Followed @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram. Thank you for the opportunity and have a blessed day.

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

This offering definitely is intriguing. PdM is one of my favorite houses. I like how Steven drew on some of the other popular PdM fragrances to give us a frame of reference. Michelyn’s statement about this fragrance not being overly sweet or heavy adds to the appeal. Hope to win this giveaway. Many thanks and blessings from Virginia, USA!

  • I am excited about this fragrance. I’m glad steven compared it to other fragrances so I can kind of judge how I think it’s going to smell. I absolutely love vanilla and PDM fragrances so hopefully I can win this one and add it to my growing collection

  • I love Marly scents and I’m looking forward to a vanilla forward scent that isn’t sticky sweet to wear during our Kentucky autumn….Carlisle is amazing and I’m sure this will be a hit!!!

  • Very thorough review from Steven. His comparison to other fragrances was helpful to get an idea of how it smells. Also very interesting to include first hand insight from Hamid Merati-Kashani in the article. I love vanilla so looking forward to this one.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Very stoked on this fragrance! Citruses and vanilla are some of my favorite notes. Felt like I was there smelling the fragrance with steven lol! He definitely is my favorite fragrance youtuber. Definitely am looking for a vanilla that doesn’t make me smell like a cupcake like MIchelyn described. I am located in New York Usa.

  • toni schiavon says:

This sounds right up my alley! Michelyn’s introduction was an in depth look into just what this fragrance would smell like and now I know how to pronunce Althair! Steven’s review was great, as always, describing the scent well also. The bottle color is perfect, reminding of when the leaves change in the autumn. I’m looking forward to trying this or better, winning a bottle! Steven said it rose to his top 2 PDM and that’s enough info for me to know I’ll love this!

  • Oh my, this may be the one that gets me back into PDM fragrances. I’m happy Michelyn mentioned that it’s not too sweet. I love vanilla but prefer them a bit more ambery than full-on gourmand. This seems to veer more in my direction so that’s already a huge plus. Steven talked about it the cardamom going in an interesting direction, which is also a plus because I adore that spice. The slight leathery tones he talked about also sound intriguing. I’m just excited that its a vanilla that appears to do its own thing. Other reviews I have seen seem to say this is one of the best scent PDM has done in a while and I can’t wait to get my nose on it. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • In general, I liked Steven’s review about the Altair perfume specifically his thoughts about the longevity and projection of the Parfum as those are the most important determinants for me to buy a fragrance.
Additionally MIchelyn provided a nice background about the perfumer and notes used which I greatly appreciated.

So excited to try this new fragrance soon.

  • galenbrennan1 says:

very excited to try this new parfums de marly fragrance. I love nearly all their fragrances, so I am sure this one will be no exception!

  • neal_buatti@yahoo.com says:

Steven’s review goes into detail of how Althair stands out from other Frags.

Michelyn’s introduction is well worded and informative.

I followed on IG my name there is @NealBuatti

  • I’ve been waiting to get my nose on this fragrance for a while! I love the notes of vanilla, orange blossom, cinnamon etc. It seems the note breakdown of Althair was personally made with me in mind. Reading that this fragrance has an air of freshness makes it a great choice for Arizona “autumn”. I’ll keep my fingers crossed hoping to win this fragrance.

  • Walter Barnaba says:

Wow! Sounds like it smells good. PDM IS MY FAVORITE FRAGRANCE SO FAR. I only have the “Layton” one and it’s the best smell I ever smelled before. Need more PDM.

  • Gilbert Simon Baidya says:

Absolutely delighted to stumble upon this article after watching the Redolessence review on YouTube! It’s always a treat when Steven talks about Parfums de Marly releases, and his enthusiasm for Althaïr was absolutely contagious. As a long-standing aficionado of gourmand fragrances, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by a vanilla-centric fragrance that promises not to overload the senses with saccharine notes.

The genius of Hamid Merati-Kashani shines through yet again; his knack for layering and blending is truly masterful. From what I’ve gathered, Althaïr is not just a ‘one-note wonder’ but a sophisticated tapestry of aromas. The citrus notes of orange blossom and bergamot juxtaposed against the warm, creamy undertones of Bourbon Vanilla and elemi—it’s like a decadent dessert paired with a zest of freshness. It’s exciting to hear that this fragrance has the capacity to evolve in colder temperatures, elevating its complexity and depth.

I find the choice of amber for the flacon color to be a sublime touch, an aesthetic hint at the amber accord in the fragrance. It’s a stylish yet subtle touch, much like the perfume it holds.

As Autumn begins to announce its arrival, I’m looking forward to making Althaïr my signature scent for the season. The promise of a vanilla fragrance that doesn’t relegate me to the realm of cupcakes and candied treats is nothing short of a revelation.

Thanks, Cafleurebon, for such a thorough and eloquent review, and of course, a special shoutout to Redolessence for introducing me to this fragrant gem in the first place!

Fingers crossed for the Bourbon Vanilla Giveaway!

    Warm regards,

  • I just started my fragrance journey and have been following steven, I only have 2 PDM fragrances and have been waiting with baited breath from reviewers on this release.

Gourmand, vanilla spicy smooth leathery? YES PLEASE

  • Parfums de Marly is my favorite house. A decant of Layton is what got me into the niche world. I’m sure this would even be a safe blind buy based on your description. If I can handle Arabians Tonka in the heat, I’m sure I’ll love it.

  • From the color of the bottle to the description of the scent, beautiful!! Can’t wait to smell it.

  • Matthew Tramel says:

Hamid Merati-Kashani is a master at his craft. I love his fresher takes like Ingenious Ginger and Sedley for myself. My wife (and I) 🙂 love Oriana. Such a beautiful gourmand fragrance for women. I am really looking forward to getting my hands on Althair, as I am a big fan of Vanilla forward fragrances.

  • steph_Alvillar says:

Steven always does a great job. I love his content. I am also a fan of elevated vanilla gourmand fragrance. The color of the falcon looks great! Looking forward to the sweetness without smelling like dessert.

  • I love how open and honest the review is. It was mentioned how great it was but did say it was similar to Babycat and Pegasus Exclusif so that the viewer can have an idea of what this smells like (amazing!). I really like how down to earth the descriptions are in this video. It’s not just the creator giving a bunch of notes where the viewer has no idea what that smells like! But he puts it in such a way that the smells come to life. Well done!!!

  • Love to be enteredni to grove away., Steven says it will be on his top 3 possibly top 2 list for autumn frags this year. Michelyn, yes it’s a winner if you want vanilla without smelling like a cup cake. 🙂
    Sounds right up my ally,

    Colin

  • A lot of reviewers have been talking about this, but Stevens description really caused me to take notice. Michelyn’s write up convinced me that I do want to get my nose on this. A vanilla that doesn’t make you smell like a cupcake is great.

  • Cameron Kennedy says:

Great review by Steven! I love gourmand fragrances. This looks like a perfect autumn fragrance. I appreciate the very descriptive introduction by Michelyn as well. Thanks!

  • Both Steven and Michelyn emphasize this is a vanilla forward scent but not cloyingly sweet like many vanilla scents. They both mentioned the amber and elemi undertones that add depth to the fragrance which makes it very unique. Both reviews state it’s a versatile unisex fragrance that’s great for the upcoming Fall season and can be worn causally and formally.

  • I love how both reviews don’t drag on like most other reviewers of fragrances, it’s straight to the point while giving me plenty of confidence to want to purchase my own bottle. I’m obsessed with what this fragrance has to offer and I can’t stop researching and hearing what people have to say about it! I just need to smell it for myself! Huge fan of PDM!

  • I have been waiting for this to come out since the moment I heard the rumor about it. As Althair is a vanilla forward like Michelyn mentioned, this will be a hot pick for the coming colder months. I have not had a vanilla scent in my collection yet so this will be my next bottle for the end of this year. Thanks to Steven, I already can visualize how this scent will perform on me. Cannot wait to try this beauty.

  • I’m so excited about the new fragrance drop and can’t wait to smell it. Fingers crossed about the giveaway. May the odds ever be in my favor

  • Jacquana Comeau says:

I’m interested in the new PDM fragrance, please consider me for the giveaway. I love gourmands! Thank you Steven Redolessence for the heads up on your channel. I messed up the first comment, had to come back again. Thank you!

  • MichaelSinner1 says:

I really like how Steven described it I smelt it and he described it very good, Michelyn also had a good description and good insight on it. I would love to own a bottle.

  • Steven’s review was great I loved how he said it was top 2 fall or winter fragrances by PDM. Michelyn’s review was also good, I liked how they braked It down and made it easy to understand the fragrance.

  • Love the detail in your reviews, Steven and Michelyn. Been waiting for this one to drop. Looking forward to getting my nose on it soon.
    (I’m a follower on IG: Jason_Steakummz )

  • I live PDM fragrances. I own Herod, Layton, and Sedley, and thoroughly enjoy all three. I’m really looking forward to Althair because both reviews make it sound incredible for rhe colder months. Living in Wisconsin, I’m always tooking to add new cold weather fragrances to my collection.

  • I was hoping that Steven or Michelyn would have explained a bit about Ambrofix and what it is like other than “adding a freshness”. That being said I’m looking forward to it this Fall, I’m excited after having heard on the video that Steven thinks this will be a new favorite. That’ is saying a lot!! I’m also really glad Michelyn said it doesn’t make you smell like a cupcake, because too often that vanilla is overly sweet. Thank you guys!

  • thanks for reviewing this new fragrance by my fav house Parfums de Marly. I eagerly await to get my hands on the Althaïr . thanks for your professionalism and I enjoy your reviews.

  • I love Steve’s breakdown especially on the proper pronunciation of”althair”because I’ve been butchering it to say the least. I also loved michelyns introduction because hamid is one of my favorite perfumers along with a few others.

  • I have not liked either reviewers from just bad talk from others. Was very impressed with knowledge and relaxed chill video. Thank you for opportunity.

  • I love how Michelyn describes the scent and also how Hamid Merati-Kashani, said “it is not easy to combine citrus with vanilla without it turning sticky” Now this statement has piqued my curiosity. These are not two fragrance notes that are often combined. So now I really want to get my nose on it.
Steven showed all aspects of the fragrance in his video including the presentation, and the structure of the fragrance and with him describing it as a unique fragrance, he really makes me want to try it!

PS, I’m now following @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram

  • I love love love vanilla based fragrances, they are some of my favorite fragrances to wear. I’m super excited to try PDM Althair and add it to my collection!!

  • Stephen Stephan says:

I keep going to Nordstrom’s hoping they’ve got it in so I can get my nose on this. I’ve heard some comparisons to Mercedes Benz Club Black, and if that’s the case I’ll have to keep it away from my daughter. She kept stealing mine until I relented and gifted he my bottle. This one will be guarded!

  • brockdiesel212 says:

ALTHAÏR has been one of the most anticipated niche releases of the entire year! I cannot think of another fragrance release that has been as anticipated as this one. Steven of Redolessence summed it up perfectly, this is going to be the most amazing gourmand fragrance for fall. I have just been so crazy about trying it. I have been going to Nordstrom, Neiman, Saks, and Bergdorff’s trying to find a sample for at least a month now. Sadly, it wasn’t available yet in department stores. I hear the projection and longevity are off the charts, as well. PDM nailed it with ALTHAÏR! This is going to be a huge winner. I am absolutely looking forward to trying this one-of-a-kind gourmand masterpiece. A masterclass fragrance that I no doubt, as MIchelyn Camen puts it, will be reaching for again and again. I now like, follow and subscribe to @cafleurebonofficial on all social media outlets to up-to-date and enjoy more exciting content in the world of fragrance.

  • PDM is one of the only brands I find myself going back to for full bottles. Steven’s review and covering of the notes tells me that I might have to add just oneeeee more to the collection. Cheers!

  • I recently acquired my first PDM and I can already tell I’m going to love everything they have! And the fact this shares names with one of the greatest video game characters is awesome!

  • JourneywithTiffany says:

Second time writing this! But second times a charm. I love perfume de Marley and I own my own special bottle of Delina, who is the princess of all of my perfumes. One day I aspire to have every single one of them but for now as a single mommy I’m doing good to have that one. What an awesome opportunity to get such a beautiful sounding perfume. The bottle is beautiful and it is my favorite color for fall. Who doesn’t love vanilla it’s a Classic scent that can be worn Anytime, any day, any weather and the stronger the scent better as well. It’s also always awesome to get to know the geniuses behind our favorite things.

From the way cafleurebon and Steven describe this fragrance an image immediately comes to mind. I imagine myself enjoying a glass of bourbon with my wife at the bar which wearing this. One of my favorite notes is vanilla, but I’ve yet to venture into the niche world of perfumery. I’m not huge fan of super sweet fragrances, so this sounds like it’s right up my alley. I’m super excited for this release!

  • Praline, musk, cinnamon… omg. This sounds like heaven. I am obsessed with perfumes but funnily enough have never owned anything from the house of Parfums De Marly. This sounds amazing for fall… I hope I get to try it✨

  • I can’t wait to get my nose on this!!
Big lover of vanilla and bourbon!!
I’m very excited to add this to my PDM collection.

  • Stevens reviews are always comprehensive and easy to follow. Michelyns introduction was vivid and gave me a great idea of what the scent might be like

  • I seriously can’t wait to put my nose on this. I am a big gourmand fan and it sounds right up my alley!

  • Ra'Qim Suleiman says:

this sounds like a tremendous fragrance. would love to add this to my rotation. Herod, Oajan, Layton & Carlisle are my favorites from the House, Althair sounds like its ready to rival the best of the house.

  • PerfumesforLife says:

Hamid Kashani is one of my favorite performers. I am so glad PDM is doing a fresh vanilla fragrance. And as Michelyn reported, vanilla-citrus combo requires a skill to make it non sticky. Steven mentioned an “unconventional amber accord” of Elemi. Also Steven described that it’s a fragrance that works in multiple seasons which I love. it’s not too fresh or too sweet. I would love to try it.
Thank you for introducing it to us.

  • Terence Douglas says:

I’m excited to get my nose on this one for two main reasons. First, vanilla is my favorite scent note and second, I’m hoping PDM brings something unique to the table this year. I really haven’t been impressed with any of the releases this year except for JPG Le Male Elixr. Although vanilla is my favorite scent it can get boring fast so I feel like this was a challenge for PDM to do something different.

  • Seanna Huffman says:

I am a female, but I got a sample of this and absolutely love it! Its completely genderless. I love all of his creations! This perfumer knows how to make masterpieces! I would love to win a bottle of this!

  • I’m excited with this new iteration of perfume to the PDM collection. I love and appreciate the art that goes into making gourmands especially ones with high quality vanilla!

  • Elemi Resin from the Philippines wow! Im a big fan of PDM and I’m Filipino, now this makes me more curious how this fragrance smells overall. Bourbon Vanilla is what intrigues me in this PDM entree and i cant wait to get a hold and experience another beautiful fragrance from the house. Thanks for the review Steven!

  • I love PDM, and would love to add this to my collection. Fall vibe it is, cinnamon and vanilla with a twist of orange. I think this scent is perfect for the upcoming holiday. I would definitely wear this on Thanksgiving. It’s giving me a sweet potato pie or pumpkin pie vibe.

  • It was very interesting to read from Michelyn’s introduction about how Hamid Merati-Kashani talks about the difficulty of working with citruses and vanilla to combine them without it turning sticky…Interesting!

Steven mentions in his youtube review that the cardamom in Althair is similar to that in Pegasus Exclusif (also by Hamid) being similar but moves in a different direction with this new release. I am a cardamom lover so I can’t wait to experience it.

Finally, Steven teaches us how to pronounce Althair correctly.

  • Taí M. Smith says:

Perfect scent and bottle color for the upcoming fall season. I would love to have this to help start my Parfums de Marly collection.

  • Fernando Arroyo says:

I definitely see the passion and inspiration for this fragrance from his creator and the fact of being able to have a magnificent video review from Steven and a great knowledgeable introduction from Mlchelyn, makes me wants this perfume a lot more. One way or another, I will have a bottle.

  • Loved the detailed descriptions about Althaïr both in Steven’s video and in Michelyn’s written introduction. Both made me want to get a bottle for this upcoming Fall and Winter. Hopefully I get lucky with the draw!

  • Mustafa Mosleh says:

I have most of PDM perfumes for men and I am so excited to try Althaïr especially the cool weather is around the corner.

  • Been really pumped for this since I heard about it back in august Steven is great at describing fragrances he’s convinced me to buy a bunch of blind buys and they all smelled exactly like his descriptions also thanks to Michelyn for the correct pronunciation been saying it wrong all this time! Hopefully I can get my hands on this scent

  • Octavian Fiscu says:

I love watching the reviews because he is so professional when he speaks. Of course I do learn a lot about the scents too.
I would love to be able to win the free cologne. I don’t own any PDM colognes but I do love gourmand scents.

  • II have never owned a PDM fragrance, but seeing reviews on this new release made want to own it, Especially the review by Steven.
I have also never won a giveway so let me take my shot again 😀
I also do follow @cafleurebonofficial on instagram ( my username is anasshth )

  • I love how the scent is overly heavy and overly sweet . I need to get my nose on this . I trust these reviews .

  • Thank you. Im a PDM collector and Gourmand lover. So very exited for this new releash and wish to have it soon.

  • Scott Sirchio says:

Great review, Steven. I love this vanilla forward fragrance, as well. Michelyn, I agree that the bottle color really does match the smell of the juice that is inside.

  • erwinthegreat says:

Amazing review as always! I am excited to get my hands and review this masterpiece myself, especially for Filipino fragheads here in the Philippines. Cheers!

  • Like always, loved the detailed review from Steven! He always delivers and always provides trustworthy descriptions of fragrances.. Glad I found out about this blog. I am also a vanilla and gourmand fan and reading this post just made me so much more excited about Althaïr!! I love well balanced gourmands that don’t make me smell like I just ate or spilled a bunch of cupcakes all over me. Also, thank you for including how to properly pronounce the name lol!

  • Thanks for introducing Althair. I think this one could be the one I was looking for. I am excited because Steven and Michelyn mentioned being/staying fresh and not too sweet. Thanks again!

  • Altair sounds amazing! I love that a Michelyn described it as not being too sweet, sticky, or heavy, since those are often problems I have with gourmands. And I love that Steven said that the cardamom is prominent, because that is a note I really enjoy. Thanks for the chance to win! I’m in MN, USA.

  • Charlie Greene says:

This sounds amazing PDM always come with bangers. HOPE i hit this giveaway would love to have this in my collection will be perfect for this time of the year. Love the content yall do!

  • I have a fragrance that Hamid Merati-Kashani was the perfumer of. It’s AMAZING. His work is outstanding for my reads on forums.

I own another Parfums de Marly fragrance (Godilphin) and it’s an amazing leather fragrance.
I would love to win this hice away of Althaïr Bourbon Vanilla. And as Steven said, this would be get a lot of wear in the coming fall and winter.

    From Boston, MA.

  • Cristian Torres says:

Parfums de Marly is back again with a great gourmand selection. Both the article and video has me curious about the use of vanilla in this scent. I am a huge fan of vanilla in perfumes and I would like to try out this scent especially if not as sweet as most others. I loved the description of the note and would love to try it out in person.

  • I am very excited to try this fragrance . I am new to the fragrance community. I just purchased Herod and I’m so satisfied with this fragrance . Just all around class and quality with this house . So glad to be able to experience this and share with others.

  • I’ll be honest Althair should be excited to get it’s scent in MY nose and furthermore, on my body. I’ve got a beautiful presentation, if I do say so myself. Very classy (and humble.)
My notes are well balanced: Spicy and smooth. Salty and just a little bit sweet. I’ll go beastmode sometimes and project for like a good 12 hours. A real banger…sometimes.

In all seriousness, thanks Steven/Michelyn! Love the content from Redolessence. Steven knows his stuff. If he says that Athair is perhaps 2nd to Carlisle for the House of Marly…that’s saying something!! Michelyn, I love the quote from HMK and the added editorial emphasis of not “smelling like a cupcake”. You guys got me all excited!!

  • hello

i really want to win, i love all the pdm parfums and i think they do a really great job, id would love to win and try the new pdm.

i follow on instagram, and fingers is crossed

    have a NICE DAY <3

  • Looking forward to experiencing yet another great Gourmand fragrance from Parfums De Marly, just in time for the fall season too.
Vanilla with citrus & wood notes definitely sounds enticing!

  • Can’t wait to get my hands on this one! PDM fragrances are always appreciated. Love the color of the bottle too.

  • I do enjoy an spicy fragrance during the autumn. The notes of orange blossom and vanilla remind me of a Creamsicle. I liked that Michelyn mentioned that it’s not too sweet. Steven mentioned that it’s season appropriate and unisex. Thanks for the wonderful reviews and draw. Mich USA

  • I love the description and review of this fragrance by Steven!!! I MUST get this! I love the citrusy notes at the beginning and adore that this is a vanilla-dominant scent. It sounds so perfect for the upcoming cooler weather.
    I live in PA.

  • would love to try this, PDM is usually way out of my $$ range. Steven’s description really made ready for autumn and winter; and this is actually a new site that I am going to enjoy exploring !!

    Thanks all !!

  • Esther Chibangulula says:

I loved that they made it very clear that this was a vanilla forward fragrance made for vanilla lovers.

  • William Goodson says:

I’ve been a fan of Parfums De Marly for years as they have a fragrance for EVERY occasion. I’d love to get my nose on this new release for the cooler months.

  • orientalscent says:

Parfums de Marley is one of the best houses that mastered the craft of perfumery, especially oriental perfumery. I can’t wait to try this new release as a gourmand fan.

  • Michelyn had me at gourmand lover and vanilla which is my favorite note. It’s nice to hear some insight from the perfumer as well and the central focus of bourbon vanilla. Steven always articulates his views well and what I appreciate is his ability to convey the overall vibe of a scent as that’s ultimately what you’re left with during the wearing experience. Sounds divine! Cheers from MN.

  • I always enjoy Steven’s reviews. Between both Steven and Michelyn’s I am greatly anticipating this gourmand PDM because gourmand fragrances are my absolute favorite! I’d love to win the giveaway! Blessings

  • Rossel Yojari Paz says:

I am an enthusiastic fan of PDM, and I have 10 in my collection, I love how they mix vanilla, they are not cloying fragrances and they are very well balanced in their compositions. I would like to wear this recent release.

  • Steven is so well spoken. I always enjoy hearing him. I liked him describing the projection as arms length then how it goes into elbow’s length. Great visual. I also enjoyed that MIchelyn shows the perfumer because it’s really giving due credit to the art/ artis as well. Thank you for the opportunity for a win

  • I’m so grateful that you’re doing this giveaway; I’ve been a fan of Parfums De Marly for years, and if this fragrance is anything like you described, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

  • I can’t wait for this fall to smells like Althaïr. On my first date with this new like I have Humm hummm smell to sweet…

  • How generous! Love many from Parfums de Marly, and definitely interested in winning this amazing fragrance. Vanilla is one of my favourite notes. I live in USA

  • I’ve been getting into fragrances over the past year, and PDM is definitely one of the best houses out there! I can’t wait to get a bottle of Althaïr

  • ashrabel01@gmail.com says:

PDM produces heavy hitters and this will not be any less. Never been able to own a full bottle, but would love for this to be the first! Vanilla heavy… yes please!

  • boozy bourbon vanilla with a smooth soft spiced praline/cinnamon on a heavy musk base love this stuff 10/10

  • bigdannyslade says:

Sounds like another win from PDM. Praline, vanilla, orange blossom, and amber. Sounds interesting!

  • Shannon Higgins says:

Great, thorough review from Steven and Michelin! I was definitely on the border of passing on this one before but Excited to try this fragrance!

  • Adam Laouchet says:

I liked the overall review and detailed explanation regrading the fragrance and the article that led some more descriptions about the
    Par fum!

Plz pick me for the giveaway

  • I really enjoyed Steven’s review and take on this fragrance. I’m very excited about the vanilla in this fragrance and the cardamom. Michelyn’s take on this fragrance is very interesting as well. There are some opposing opinions between hers and Steven’s that makes me want to smell the fragrance for myself. The thought of this having similarities to Pegasus exclusif is exciting.

  • I’ve seen a few reviews on this new release from PDM. I think the timing is perfect for this kind of vanilla and cinnamon inspired scent.

  • Citruses and vanilla sounds etheral. Felt like I was there taking the fragrance in with steven!.He definitely is my favorite fragrance reviewer. Definitely am looking to a delicious vanilla-forward fragance as MIchelyn said. I am located in the united states

  • Steven has really gotten me excited to try this, we’ll have my husband or son try it, but seeing how high he puts this on his PdM selection, I think it is a winner. In maryland.

  • Thank you for the great video review, Steven! And thank you for the introduction, Michelyn! PDM is such a fantastic line, and I have been on the hunt for a vanilla fragrance that isn’t too gourmand and sweet, and this sounds like the perfect match! I would love love love to wear this in Fall and Winter this year as it sounds like it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. The orange blossom and bergamot sounds like it really balances the vanilla to make it not such an edible version of the note.

  • Gourmand fragrances are always very interesting and I have been a big fan of PDM. Michelyn mentions in this article about the fragrance being citrusy and vanilla based which sounds delicious. Steven’s video explains the perfume in such detail. Can’t wait to get to try this fragrance.

  • Steven’s reviews are always incredibly thorough and this one was no different. I’m excited to smell the “unconventional amber accord” that he talked about. I also liked that Michelyn said that this is not your typical vanilla cupcake gourmand. This sounds like it will be perfect for the upcoming weather, and I’m loving the pumpkin colored bottle. I am a follower on IG.

  • The notes listed in the intro and the comment about the vanilla NOT being sticky (something I run into a lot) really piqued my interested. I love the pumpkin color of the bottle and Steven’s remark about seasonally appropriate match that for sure, with fall coming on where I live. I was also happy to hear him say that the Guaiac and Ambertone don’t add harshness as I’ve run into that too in wood base notes. Overall, this sounds wonderful!

  • Dannon C Vick says:

As always, I appreciated Redolessences’ review with the breakdown and note’s discussion.

As far as the introduction, I enjoyed the balance of information without fluff!

Thanks for the giveaway- I’m in central Florida,US.

  • When I think Parfums de Marly , I always think Pegasus. Thanks to Michelyn and Steven I know both Althaïr and Pegasus are made by Hamid Merati Kashani. No surprise he also made other famous fragrances.
Althaïr I’ve never smelled before, I like the citruses , vanilla, the special amber accord Steven told us about, and the whole uplifting balance achieved by the perfumer.
I’d pair Althaïr with Peak Lapel , Brown Double Breasted Suit, fusion of classic style and 2023 flair, just like Althaïr
Pegasus I cherish most out of all Parfums de Marly fragrances, fantastic fragrance with great performance.
Thank you Steven , Michelyn, Parfums de Marly, and Fine Fragrances

  • Oh boy, I am a fan of PDM Fragrances and they have never dissapointed me. I am pretty sure Althaïr is another masterpiece.
Both, Michelyn and Steven made a fantastic job here.
I love that Althaïr is a vanilla heavy fragrance but with an amber accord that makes it different. I would love to try this one soon.

  • I love watching Steven’s reviews on YouTube and Althair is definitely a scent I would love to own. It sounds like a beautiful, and inviting scent!

  • Been waiting for this release.
PDM is one of my favorite houses and love that the same perfumer who did Layton is behind this also.
You giveaways never cease to amaze me.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter.
Looking forward to a great vanilla scented fall.

  • MIchelyn’s introduction is defined, concise, and well written. The time and attention that went into it really is apparent. If there was ever any doubt for anyone about wanting to try Althair, the introduction puts that doubt to rest,

Last, but certainly no least, Steven has produced yet another high quality and in depth review. He really puts a lot of thought in to his reviews, and this one is no exception. His excitement about Althair and wearing it in the months ahead in intoxicating and makes me want to experience it myself now!

  • Parfums de Marly became one of the premier niche brands a short period of time , to my taste one of the best.
Althaïr sounds fabulous, my expectations are very high because of Michelyn and Steven, but also because Hamid Merati Kashani and
Ilias Ermenidis cooked quite a few fragrances i love.

“so if you are looking for a new vanilla fragrance for Autumn and you do not want to smell like a cupcake”

I love smelling like a cupcake, and I do every day since I’m a Pastry Chef 🙂 I’m always looking for new vanilla fragrances , and despite Michelyn warnings that Althaïr is not overly sweet, I actually imagined Orange Blossom Vanilla Cupcakes , sprinkled with Cinnamon.
In the official notes , and in the picture at 3:57 in Steven video praline is shown. The two perfumers worked on American perception of praline, because as a Pastry Chef I can tell you the term means two very different things in Europe, and in US. In Europe is mostly chocolate filled with a paste made of hazelnuts or other wonderful confectionery mixtures. At the same time for most of those , who’ve enjoyed pralines from the U.S. , especially the state of Louisiana, and other southern states , pralines are primary a melted blend of sugars, butter and almost all the time pecans.
It’s a 50/50 toss up for me between Herod and Oajan, for my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance.
Appreciate the double review, and the giveaway campaign

  • I enjoy hearing Steven describe the notes in this perfume and how it compared to other Parfums de Marly. I like the idea of this being a unisex “vanilla forward” perfume. Vanilla can be polarizing as it can smell “bakery” sweet and juvenile. I have such a hard time finding an interesting, elegant, and mature vanilla scent.

  • prestonsmith1126 says:

I always enjoy Steven’s videos as I have learned a lot as well as made purchase based on his input and breakdowns. I have PDM Layton, Greenley(my current fav), Sedley and I have Valaya and Oriana for my wife. Steven is the reason for many of those. I am excited to try Altiear in the future once I can find it and get my hands in a bottle for myself. It has autumn written all over it.

  • The way this PDM was described and compared to other top tier fragrances has me on edge . Great review! Shout out Michelyn on the pronunciation .

  • Farewellsmell says:

Really excited for this. Michelyn and Steven did an incredible job describing the vanilla in this fragrance, especially on the vanilla note without the cupcake stigma of vanilla notes. Can’t wait to see how this performs in the winter based on Michelyn and Steven’s review. Subscribed and registered.
    TX, USA.

  • By far my favorite niche house. Greenly is my favorite scent. As far as gourmand Im looking for something to beat Tom Fords Tobacco Vanille. To this day I haven’t found a gourmand to beat it. Maybe this is it?!

  • Parfums de Marly has been on a roll lately, I myself only own 3 fragrances from this brand and I wish to have more. I’m sure Althäir will be a perfect addition to my collection, I have Layton, Carlisle, and Percival but I need something like oajan and Althäir in my collection for sure.

  • Corwyn Cappello says:

I really like how the bottle looks on this and just adore vanilla fragrances. Steven had great insight on it and i also liked how he refrenced other fragrances that smell simlar too. Michelyn also let me know that thankfully it wasn’t mixed to where it would be overly sweet or smelling like a cupcake.cheers from Va,USA

  • As we move towards fall/winter, it’s finally time to dust off the heady winter scents. Conveniently, as of late, I have been on a major vanilla kick. Althaïr seems to be the perfect mesh of bourbon vanilla, orange blossom, and the ambery-elemi accord that Steven talked about in his video. I haven’t gotten a chance to try it yet, but it sounds delectable! And Michelyn’s description of the bottle showcasing what’s inside gave me a great heads up as to what I might expect when I sample this or (God willing!) win the giveaway. Thank you to both content creators for informing me about this delicious sounding fragrance, and thanks to CaFleureBon for putting this together!

    I followed @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram!

  • Love PdM creations! Most of them are so beautiful and wearable!
As vanilla lover would like to test this perfume, even more description of Michelyn and video-review of Steven promise very opulent vanilla perfume.

What I enjoyed most about Steven’s review is how detailed it was. Felt that I could almost smell the fragrance through the screen.

A favorite per from MICHELYN’S intro: Vanilla forward without bring overly sweet..

Vanilla is one of my favorite notes. Pairee with cinnamon sounds fantastic.

  • Informative introduction by Michelyns, and as always very professional and awesome review by Steven he is a PhD reviewing fragrances very eloquent

  • I am so excited for the new Parfums de Marly Althaïr. I love Kalan, Sedley, Cassili, as well as many other vanilla heavy fragrances. I would love to try this new fragrance!

  • William Falla says:

I have Haltane and hearing Stevens thorough review of the notes and this being a more vanilla focused. This has me excited to smell it. I lean towards more gourmand fragrances and Michelyn saying how warm of the fragrance this is perfect timing for the upcoming winter months

  • Thank you MIchelyn for the help with the pronunciation! Also loved learning about Hamid and Ilias, the perfumers. I have Calle Ocho from Fulton and Roark that Hamid also created. Also liked the statement about Althair being an autumn vanilla vibe without smelling like a cupcake. As always, Steven’s introduction to Althair was professional and thoughtful. Steven was the one to convince me to sample Haltane. To me, Haltane is PDM’s sleeper. I prefer it over Layton and even Carlisle, though both of those are great too of course. To my nose, Haltane is somehow deep and rich while also being clean and airy and sophisticated, all while being mass appealing. I would LOVE if Althair does to autumn sweet what Haltane does to oud sweet. 😉

  • Margaret Tolliver says:

In all honesty, I didn’t believe the new Parfums de Marly’s (PDM) Althair was for me. I am a true fan of the house, I enjoy the feminine centric PDMs but I do love Oajan, a unisex fragrance in their masculine fragrances. Oajan is a beautiful fall day in a bottle. Rich, bold, mildly sweet—it’s a stunning creation. A review of Althair by a fellow fragrance lover made me re-think my initial thoughts. The idea of a fresh sweet citrus with vanilla that is gourmand without broaching the “cupcake” territory is a grownup treat. I questioned my fellow fragrance lover and collector if Althair is a fragrance that a woman can enjoy, he gave what I consider a gold star recommendation—his daughter and her friends love it and asked to wear it more then he’d prefer. Looking at the notes, I believe the base notes of praline and Guaiacwood combined with the rich, sweet and boozy bourbon vanilla makes this one I have to own.

I have a sample of this and its so good My stylist said I can smell you all the way up here u smell so good. Steven is correct it will be good in the fall and winter but maybe spring summer to. I am a vanilla fan and would love to win a Bottle of this … Its soo go my sample is almost gone

  • I love parfums de marly and this one sounds amazing sweet n spicy. I currently have only two in my collection. Hoping to add this one. The notes are definitely my cup of tea.

  • I’m really excited about this fragrance release. The thing that stuck out to me from Michelyn’s introduction was the quote from the perfumer about the difficulty of not having citrus and vanilla turn “sticky” when combined. I don’t know if that was in reference to the oils themselves or the scent having a “sticky” quality, but it seems like “sticky” would be a good thing with a gourmand fragrance so I found it interesting to hear.
I was excited to hear Steven reference the return of the cardamom note from Pegasus Exclusif which I think should add a nice mix to this rich vanilla and citrus mix. Looking forward to smelling this in person.

  • I am very excited for this release. I have a collection of about 25 fragrances, and this would be a great addition. I already have Layton and Pegasus and I am in love with those fragrances. Parfums de Marly never fails with any of their scents. I’m extremely happy about this release and I would love to wear this all fall and winter!

  • I love vanilla centric fragrances and this looks perfect for fall, I enjoy Parfums De Marly fragrances and this looks like a welcome addition. I look forward to trying this release . Wonderful introduction by Michelyn. Good to know it’s not overly sweet. Thorough review by Steven as always. I’m in the US.

  • I have always enjoyed Steven’s channel and input on fragrances. I have purchased two different one’s that he suggested(Sedley and Layton) but I love Greenley.
I hope to get my hands on Altiear very soon.

  • Parfums de Marly Althaïr is refined sweet and musky amber , centered around delicious bourbon vanilla ,resins, different spices and positive emotions. Judging by Michelyn and Steven co-review it’s also a transitional weather fragrance ,versatile, and easy to wear , from day time family gatherings , to going out with friends , or weddings .Long lasting fragrances are always welcomed , and I think all Parfums de Marly fall in the same category , same thing I’m expecting from Althaïr . I love the way Michelyn portrayed Althaïr
“if you are looking for a new vanilla fragrance for Autumn and you do not want to smell like a cupcake, this is an elegantly crafted perfume, you will reach for again and again”
I also find the contrast between the orange bottle , and the silver cap .
Oajan is my favorite Parfums de Marly , but Delina Exclusif is breathing in Oajan neck all the time. Both are staples for me.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Unlike Olya, I don’t gravitate towards gourmand and vanilla perfumes, but Althaïr sounds very wearable and Bourbon Vanilla is a beautiful note in just about any context. I also really enjoy elemi’s bright qualities and its use here is intriguing; the citrusy aspects of this fragrance are an appealing spin on rich vanilla. Great into Michelyn—I definitely don’t want to smell like a cupcake! Regarding Steven’s review, first of all, thank you for explaining how Althaïr is pronounced. He really highlighted how unusual this clean, elemi-based amber is and how it supports the spicy opening. And like Steven said, this sort of perfume is going to be terrific in the cool weather.

I’m in the USA. I follow @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram as @mmerline.

  • I really think I’m going to love this fragrance. Steven says it’s sweet vanilla and I’m a sucker for that. And I appreciate michelyn for letting us know how to pronounce it because I had no idea. Thanks to both of you!

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Steven’s YouTube review and Michelyn’s Introduction of Parfums De Marly Althair. Loved how Steven reviews fragrances…Althair sounds like the perfect fall and winter fragrance that is Vanilla based, but approaches the Amber accord differently than most fragrances utilizing Elemi Resin instead of Labdanum or Benzoin. This also has warm and spicy Cardmom and Cinnamon facets. This sounds absolutely perfect. Hamid Merati-Kashani a well known perfumer which has created some of Parfums De Marly’s best fragrances has came up with another brilliant creation. I’d like to try Parfums de Marly Althaïr. I can like resinous, vanillic fragrances. I’m interested to see what vanillic aspect is like when it is blended with the citrus: it seems like there is an interesting way it’s done in Parfums de Marly Althaïr. I’m intrigued to see what its unconventional amber accord is like. I live in the U.S.A. I follow @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram from @regismonkton

  • Robert Jerrod says:

This sounds amazing for fall and winter. Steven and MIchelyn descriptions of the spice and elemi accords have me intrigued. Anticipate an initial freshness with MIchelyn’s mention of citrus as well. Overall excited for this latest expression.

  • Being a vain man compliments are really important to me. Althaïr with its “unconventional amber accord’ , orange blossom , and spicy vanilla sweetness , for sure will get me unsolicited compliments , while smelling amazing.
I approach work in a similar manner as Hamid Merati Kashani, I really like how he didn’t wanted to rush, and took his time to develop , and Althaïr to his , and Parfums de Marly level of expectations. Elegant vanilla fragrance done right.
Oajan is my favorite Parfums de Marly, it’s full , balsamic sweet , one of my favorites ever. Cafleurebon follower on social media

This was so awesome I didn’t love the previous launch from PDM. This seems like it is going to be THE ONE! Steven always sells me on a fragrance, which is trouble! And Michelyn always does a great job giving background and layering in details about brands or perfumers.

Can’t wait to smell this one!

  • Good article and really looking forward to this release by PDM. I own 5 PDMs and they all Garner compliments.

  • I have a deep affection for this house, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting a new fragrance release from them for quite some time now. This particular scent has me feeling enthusiastic about giving it a try. I’ve always been a fervent admirer of various vanilla fragrances, especially those with gourmand elements. Steven’s mention of the cardamom taking an intriguing direction is particularly appealing to me, as I have a fondness for that spice. The subtle hints of leather he discussed also piqued my interest. Furthermore, MIchelyn’s informative background on the perfumer and the notes utilized were greatly appreciated. I’m drawn to the idea of this fragrance blending freshness with vanilla and spices. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on it soon. Warm regards from Florida.

  • I have sampled / smelled all Parfims De Marly , and Initio Parfums fragrances, including Althaïr and I can say my opinion of the fragrance is quite different from what Michelyn and Steven are getting, especially Michelyn.

“Parfums de Marly Althaïr (pronounced al-TI-EAR) is as an ode to Bourbon Vanilla from Madagascar. Althaïr is “vanilla-forward”, but not overly sweet on my skin, nor is it heavy. There is freshness from the citruses, showing the skill required.”

“so if you are looking for a new vanilla fragrance for Autumn and you do not want to smell like a cupcake”

What can I say , other than the magic of perfumery in full force, my thoughts are diametrically opposite…literally 🙂 . Body chemistry, taste, perception or all ,but Althaïr on my skin is:
    1. Full time syrupy sweet spicy gourmand
    2. Very loud
    3. There is some slight freshness in the background, but personally I would not call the fragrance fresh .
    4. Quality vanilla fragrances are always appreciated, I don’t mind smelling like a cupcake, to me Althaïr actually resembles the smell of a cupcake
Steven’s opinion on Althaïr is closer to what I’m getting, still I don’t quite get the Pegasus Exclusif comparison, more like original Pegasus because the Exclusif is way market , and a bit funky. I can see the Oriana comparison because of the sweet orange blossom, but if I can make my own comparison between Althaïr and another Parfums de Marly fragrance, it would be Layton cardamom and green apple, from the opening until dry down. Something slightly reminds me of another Silky Woods by Goldfield and Banks, another fragrance composed by Hamid Merati Kashani.
I believe every fragrance, vanilla and gourmand lover should sample Althaïr no doubt a beautiful , well composed basket full of boozy Bourbon vanilla, cinnamon, elemi resins and hefty amounts of cardamom.
If I have to rate my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrances :
    1. Habdan , one of my top 5 fragrances ever
    2. Oajan
    3. Herod / Althaïr
Hamid Merati Kashani has two Instagram profiles , @hamidhmk and @hamidmeratikashani , I follow both. All other profiles I follow too , including @yvanjacqueline , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • As a Vanilla note lover, I am excited about this PDM latest release. It would be perfect to complete my PDM collection that has Layton, Carlisle, Pegasus and Herod. I live in Portland, Oregon

  • Autumn winds begin to blow
Colored leaves fall fast and slow
    Twirling, whirling all around
Till at last , they touch the ground
    -Kids song

Michelyn and Steven review of Althaïr was so tranquil , and considering the color scheme of the bottle i started thinking of Pumpkin Spice Late , and leaves falling to the ground.
Reviews involving two contributors are greatly appreciated because of the 2D effect. Now I know Althaïr is fresher, not as heavy on the sweetness vanilla to Michelyn, and sweeter and more musky to Steven.
There’s nothing overbearing in Althaïr,but the blend is really smooth , and uplifting , with a special amber blend , I’m thrilled.
Love both of my Delina bottles , the regular one and the Exclusif , also bought Byerley twice for my dad, he absolutely loves it.
My favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance is Delina Exclusive . Cafleurebon i follow on both Facebook and Instagram
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • This was a great read. So many Parfums de Marly fragrances by this perfumer I love. It would be an honor to be chosen. Have a positive and productive day. Blessings.

  • I love PDM’s. This sounds amazing. Would love to own this one. Hopefully one day some way or another.

  • Such an incredible release from Parfums De Marly. As someone who is slowly going blind I use perfumery like this to make me feel comforted when I’m anxious due to my blindness and this release will be perfect for that

  • I would love to win this cologne, I personally love Pegasus a lot and by the notes if this one I am pretty sure I would love it as much. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • I’ve said this before and I’ll reiterate it here, this master reviewer has a special exuberant tone when describing gourmand fragrances. His reviews have led to many of my successful blind buys! His description of where the ingredients are sourced entices me even more to get my nose on this. Stephen’s description of how this fragrance satisfies one’s sweet tooth, was deepening the hook already in after clearly stating it’s a vanilla forward fragrance. The cardamom and guaicwood appeal to the juxtaposition of spicy as well as sweet! Parfums de Marly delivers luxury fragrances that do not disappoint and reassure the buyer that the delicious, juice is worth every penny!

Huge fan of Parfums De Marley and I tend to gravitate towards more masculine leaning fragrances or unisex fragrances. I’m excited to see this new direction that popular niche fragrance houses are going in by including more white florals and sweet citrus notes to their masculine fragrances. Steven mentioned the fragrance is super vanilla dominate and that’s right up my alley, and I also enjoyed that Michelyn said it wasn’t overly sweet. I think it would a wonderful fall staple fragrance!

I also followed @cafleurbonoffical on Instagram in hopes of a second entry !

  • Jerarrin Kennerly says:

What I enjoyed both about Steven’s video and Michelyn’s intro are the breakdown of the notes. I love that it’s not animalic because I try to stay away from fragrances with that dna. Vanilla is my favorite note and this fragrance is right up my alley. I really hope I win because I have no clue when I’d be able to afford a full bottle. I also followed @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram. My username is @jerarrinjerome.

  • Thanks for the nice writeup Michelyn. Yes, it really is difficult to do citrus and vanilla without it turning into a sticky mess.

I love that this is a gourmand that has a lot of facets besides being sweet. The woods and the spices (cardamom, cinnamon) really do have a way of working with this to make it a totally fall scent.

I also love the color of the bottle.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Honestly haven’t been a big fan of parfumes de Marley but I have always love gourmand and vanilla fragrances and this one looks perfect for fall and winter and I can’t wait to try

  • Big fan of PDM Oriana so I’m definitely looking forward to trying out Althair. Thanks for the review.

  • For starters, I really respect Hamid Merati-Kashani for his dedication to the house of Parfums de Marly. It seems all his creations are very nuanced and full of character. After reading the description of Althaïr, I’m sure it meets the standards of his previous compositions. Also, I’m very interested in smelling how the citrus and vanilla were blened without turning sticky. With notes of boutbon vanilla, cinnamon and praline, this fragrance couldn’t have been released at a better time of the year. I’m a long time subscriber of the Redolessence channel and Steven has always done an amazing job reviewing fragrances. The description he gave of Althaïr makes me very excited to try it. When it comes to gourmand fragrances, vanilla has to be one of the most common notes used but I get the feeling that bourbon vanilla is what may set Althaïr apart from the rest.
