Founded in 2010 by entrepreneur, global women’s rights activist, and author Barb Stegemann, The 7 Virtues was born from a promise made in a hospital room. Stegemann’s best friend, a CIMIC officer, inspired her to carry forward his mission of peace after being wounded during discussions about providing essential resources to an Afghan village. This promise fueled her bestselling book, now in its 8th edition, “The 7 Virtues of a Philosopher Queen (A Woman’s Guide To Living & Leading in an Illogical World).

“Make Perfume Not War” resonates as the brand’s mantra, and is intricately woven into the cap of every fragrance as a reminder of their noble cause. The 7 Virtues cherishes a vision where perfume transcends its aromatic nature; symbolizing peace, empowerment, and positive change. The unveiling of The Seven Virtues Cherry Ambition is a momentous occasion, a symphony of scents  created to exhilarate and empower. Imagine sinking your senses into the ripe, succulent flesh of a cherry, a burst of juiciness caressing your taste buds. This olfactory journey begins with an enticing opening, a delightful mingling of mandarin and cherry blossom petals on the skin.

As the fragrance unfolds, a playful dash of osmanthus takes center stage, infusing an added layer of fruity essence. This joyful note is then gracefully tamed by a dash of fragrant saffron, introducing a subtle spicy character that keeps you enchanted.  Imagine a dance of gourmand vanilla, intertwined with the sweetness of fluffy marshmallows and bursts of cherry blossoms. This dance crescendos into a harmonious blend, crowned by the warm embrace of amber and musky guaiac wood, leaving an enduring sweet scent of success in its wake.

Cherry Ambition is a fragrance that boldly embodies life and optimism. More than just a perfume, it is a mood-enhancing elixir, a scent associated with achievement and determination. With each spritz, you manifest your desires, drawing from the power of scent association. Isn’t that one of the reasons we love perfumes so much anyways? Douse yourself lavishly, bask in the pleasure of its beauty and let it be a testament to your accomplishments, a reminder of your capability to conquer and overcome obstacles. Every pulse point touched by The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition carries a message of empowerment—breathe, reflect, and spray with intention. Let it envelop you in a fragrant embrace, keeping you mindful throughout your day and remind you that success is but a scent away.

Notes: Cherry, Pink Pepper, Mandarin, Marshmallow, Cherry Blossom, Osmanthus, Orris, Saffron, Vanilla, Amber, Musk, Frankincense, Guaiacwood.

The bottle was kindly gifted to me by the brand but opinions are always my own.

Olya Bar, Editor

We were introduced to The 7 Virtues by Deputy Editor Tama Blough in 2013 (who passed away January 9, 2015). She wrote, “The words “sustainability” and “fair trade” are bandied about quite often lately, mostly in the area of food and farming. But what do they mean for perfumery? A new Canadian-based company called The 7 Virtues is working to bring those practices to the manufacture of scent”. Sustainability  and female empowerment has become “buzz words” for so many brands, but few have made it their mission for over a decade. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

As part of the brand’s partnership with Days For Girls, partial proceeds from each Cherry Ambition bottle will advance menstrual equity in North America by funding education, advocacy, and product distribution.

  • I live in NJ and what resonated with me with how she mentioned that this fragrance embodied life and optimism!

  • I love the concept of 7 Virtues perfumes. I have never tried any of their fragrances, but this Cherry Ambition sounds delightful! Based on the notes alone, I have to agree with Olya that this could be a “mood enhancing elixir”….I live in NH, USA.

  • I actually just sampled this one yesterday! Love the synchronicity. Definitely has that same benzaldehyde-benzoin combo found in most cherry scents ala Lost Cherry and its droves of dupes; but the lack of liquor and addition of orris makes it far more wearable and layerable imo. Definitely agree with Olya that it’s a mood enhancer – cherries being my favourite fruit – and there’s a woodiness to the base that provides a nice contrast. Until now, Vetiver Elemi has always been my favourite from the brand with its unique, long lasting and incredibly addictive zingy take on a woody floral (dare I say perhaps my favourite casual elemi ever), but I can see this one coming in a close second. Layer it with a smoky vanilla, bready oud or incensey sandalwood and watch me salivate. Or….imagine me salivating. LOL Seriously, cherries rock. Wonderful take from Olya! From Canada.

  • I had been debating putting this in my online shopping cart and was already so so curious and excited to sniff this one! I love cherries and find it hard to find a scent that is as deletable as the fruits tastes and smells in the summertime without being overly sweet on the skin. So on top of this, Olya’s review makes this scent from The 7 Virtues even more appealing as they describe the warm musky guaiac wood and the bursts of cherry blossom notes. I already enjoy The 7 Virtues – it is a company I already like a lot in terms of their scents and the values they stand for. Thank you for the giveaway! I am in Canada

I enjoyed Olya’s description of Cherry Ambition as a mood-enhancing elixir — I am drawn to the idea of a fragrance that is empowering. Plus, cherries! I have never tried a perfume from The 7 Virtues before, but I am excited to try this one! I love that they donate to Days for Girls with each bottle; menstrual equity is such an important and often overlooked topic due to the taboos around the area.

  • I have not tried any of The 7 Virtues perfumes, but I’ve heard good things about Santal Vanille. The notes of cherry, marshmallow, vanilla and guaiac wood in The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition sound lovely for fall. Olya mentioned the mood-enhancing effects of Cherry Ambition and I love fragrances that can boost my mood! NY, USA

  • I live in Michigan. The part of the review I liked was the dance…Imagine a dance of gourmand vanilla, intertwined with the sweetness of fluffy marshmallows and bursts of cherry blossoms. This dance crescendos into a harmonious blend, crowned by the warm embrace of amber and musky guaiac wood, leaving an enduring sweet scent of success in its wake. This fragrance sounds amazing. I can’t wait to try it!

  • Cherry seems to be such a popular note lately. I have not had a chance to try anything from this house yet, but I love how accessible they are. In maryland.

Ooh! Definitely looking forward to trying this at Sephora! This sounds like another great release from 7 Virtues, so happy to see how far this Canadian sustainable brand has come since they first launched! My favs from the line are Vanilla Woods & Blackberry Lilly (try this if you love a sweeter note of blackberry!) I live in Canada.

  • I have tried several of the 7 Virtues fragrances in a peace discovery scent and I admire the impetus behind the creation of this line. Fragrance as an ambassador of positive change is inspired especially since scent is such a powerful sense. Cherry Ambition sounds delightful with the combination of cherry blossom and osmanthus and bed of amber, vanilla and guaiac. I’m in the US.

What resonates with me is the way this perfume will enhance your desires, your mood. It’s such an easy thing being influenced by a feeling or a mood that drives us. I love that 7 virtues is following such an aromatherapeutic and sweet way to romance yourself in an age where so many negative things can reach in to influence on a daily basis. I think of perfume as a kind of shield or aura. This sounds like a magical way to surround yourself. Cherries are a fave note for me!

  • Hello from Florida, and thank you to Olya for the review!

I’ve never tried anything from The 7 Virtues, but Cherry Ambition sounds very fun. I love a marshmallow note, and this scent seems like it makes great use of that pillowy sweetness.

  • Thanks for the wonderful review Olya.

Been following the work of this brand, ever since I discovered them on CFB. I love the idea and the messaging.

Wonderful sets of notes – ripe cherries moving into a wonderfully grounding osmanthus orris middle and a base of vanilla, frankinscence, guiacwood and musk, really takes this away from a gourmand/liqueour into a more wearable form of the fragrance.

Would certainly love to sample/try this out.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • What appeals to me about Olay’s review of The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition is the way she describes the notes, telling a story if you will, and how they play an integral part in enhancing the other notes to work in synchrony and how they embody life and optimism. I’ve never tried any of The 7 virtues perfumes. Thank you for the opportunity. From New York, USA.

  • Cherry Ambition sounds like a nice fruity-floral blend. The saffron, guaiac wood, and amber also sound essential to balancing the composition; cherry, cherry blossom, mandarin, and gourmand notes (marshmallow in the notes list) can all be very sweet. This one sounds like a fun wear if you love cherries or osmanthus perfumes.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any The 7 Virtues perfumes.

  • Wow, this sounds lovely “Imagine a dance of gourmand vanilla, intertwined with the sweetness of fluffy marshmallows and bursts of cherry blossoms.” Thanks for sharing!

  • I’ve been a long-time lover of cherry, it’s one of those notes where I see and immediately needs to get a sample of. I find that achieving the perfect cherry scent has been something I’ve been on the hunt for a long time.
I resonated with Olya’s review when she said “douse yourself lavishly, bask in the pleasure of its beauty and let it be a testament to your accomplishments, a reminder of your capability to conquer and overcome obstacles.” I’ll never forget the feeling of wearing a sample of Magic Dancing Roses and smelling it as I walked around, I could feel the confidence surge in me.
    I’m from ON, Canada

  • I love a cherry note in fragrances, it is a note that definitely lifts up my mood. What entices me is that ripe succulent cherry with a burst of juiciness, dance of gourmand vanilla intertwined with the sweetness of fluffy marshmallows and cherry blossom. Great to hear 7 Virtues partnership with Days For Girls! I love Coconut Sun and Vanilla Woods and would love to discover more from the brand. Thank you. TX USA

I haven’t tried anything yet from The 7 Virtues, but I’m interested in trying all of their fragrance releases. I’d like to try The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition. In this one, I’d like to see what the florals are like in combination with the amber and guaiacwood base. Another reason I’d like to try it is when Olya describes it as: “More than just a perfume, it is a mood-enhancing elixir, a scent associated with achievement and determination.” I live in the U.S.A.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Olya’s review of The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition. I haven’t tried anything from this brand, but I’ve great things about them through CaFleurebon. This sounds sweet, seductive, resinous, and borderline gourmand in nature with the sweet Vanilla, Cherry, Marshmallow, as well as resinous touches of Amber and Frankincense. I think I would really love and appreciate this fragrance. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • Michelyn really delivers fantastic reviews.
The 7 Virtues looks like an amazing fragrance house and one that I totally need to try.
As a cherry lover I would love to have Cherry Ambition in my collection. The gourmand vanilla, the marshmellow note and the cherry bloosoms, just wow!
I hope I win this one
    USA here.

  • I live in Germany and I am attracted by the fact that this fragrance embodies optimism, I would need a good dose now!
