Mancera Tonka Cola Review (2022) + A Fizzy Giveaway

Mancera Tonka Cola

Mancera Tonka Cola is scented tribute to the storied past of the iconic cola drink. Few brands possess the global influence and enduring connection to communities worldwide quite like Coca-Cola. For years, it has stood as a symbol of universal appeal and cultural resonance, reaching into the hearts of people across the globe.

Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol’s famous painting via wiki

The late Andy Warhol said, “What’s great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you can know that the President drinks Coke. Liz Taylor drinks Coke, and just think, you can drink Coke, too.”

The fragrance opens with a burst evocative of a blissful first sip of a sparkling cola on a sun-drenched summer day. It’s a vibrant, jubilant splash of Sicilian lemon, bursting with life, reminiscent of my childhood days when cola was a treasured treat reserved for special occasions. Those days were filled with delicious anticipation, the house abuzz with the arrival of guests, each moment a celebration in itself.

As the fragrance unfurls, it transforms into a sumptuous cola accord, carbonated and richly infused with a succulent cherry heart. Each note in this symphony creates a fizzy, tantalizing sensation akin to the lively dance of effervescent bubbles that playfully tease the tongue. A whisper of sweet cinnamon weaves through the scent, adding a comforting warmth reminiscent of cozy evenings spent by a crackling fire, wrapped in the embrace of nostalgia and contentment.

The overall olfactory focus on the kola nut, with its robust, stimulating flavor, pays homage to the fragrance’s invigorating qualities and its deep cultural roots. Revered in West African traditions, the kola nut is more than a mere ingredient; it’s a symbol of hospitality and societal bonds, often shared ceremonially in gatherings, bridging the past with the present.

In its final act, the fragrance reveals a base of complex tapestry woven from threads of time, and reminds me of the classic cherry soda floats. Roasted tonka bean, with its deep, almost edible warmth, melds seamlessly with the creamy, comforting embrace of vanilla. Indonesian patchouli leaves add an earthy depth, grounding the scent with its resonant soulfulness. Orange blossom lightly kisses the blend with a hint of floral freshness, while benzoin and labdanum impart a resinous, create a golden amber accord oozing with warmth and sensuality, mystical quality akin to a secret whispered in the twilight hours.

Mancera Tonka Cola is a love letter to bygone eras, a romantic ode that captures the boldness of historical cola tonics and the sweetness of treasured memories. It’s a scent that invites you to relive moments of joy and warmth, which Coca-Cola has been excellent at capturing with every single ad campaign they ever launched. As we are getting closer to Christmas I find myself rewatching some of their old commercials and feeling the craving for that fizzy iconic drink. Mancera Tonka Cola is now my olfactory portal to days filled with wonder, a timeless embrace of the past, present, and future in every spritz.

Notes: Cinnamon, Cherry, Sicilian Lemon, Nutmeg, Coca-Cola, Indonesian Patchouli Leaf, Orange Blossom, Tonka Bean, Vanilla, Benzoin, Labdanum.

  • I enjoyed reading about the history of the kola nut and what it means in West African culture. Lovely. For me, (me), moi, the notes are to die for. I’d much rather wear cola than drink it, so . I live in NY.

  • I’m very interested in smelling this, and wonder how it ocmpares to Penhaligon’s LP No. 9 & Xerjoff’s Casamorati 1888, both cola-infused scents, to my nose. I’m also interested in how the lemon plays into the composition.

  • I loved reading more about the history of Coca Cola! I find their history fascinating! I think it’s only natural that Coca Cola would now journey into fragrance since it’s such a staple beverage and taste!! I would love to try this fragrance!!

  • I’ve been intrigued by this fragrance but have not tried it yet. I love cola accords in fragrances as I find them very cheerful and fun. Olya mentioned this one having a nice burst of cherry, which sounds like it would work perfectly with the cola. Sounds like a sold release that would work well hanging around with the family during the upcoming holidays. My current favorites from Mancera are Hindu Kush and Red Tobacco. From the sounds of it, though, this could very well dethrone either of them. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • Never tried anything from Mancera, I like some fragrance from sister brand Montale, but I’m very curious about this one. I love cocacola in real life, and I like fuzzy fragrance, this sounds something like that.
Also I really appreciate the aspect of reminding something from the past reconnecting with the Christmas vibes of this period since coca cola is so Christmas related to our imagination
    Greetings from Italy Milan

  • Actually very interested to try the new Amore Caffe because I’m a huge fan of coffee scents, and especially ones that nail the dark, roasted accord. Heard some great things about this one, but I’m glad Olya mentioned the whole nostalgia factor. If you grew up in the 80s and 90s like I did, that cola fizz could sometimes make your day. Glass bottles were key. And let’s not unwittingly mention those polar bear Coke commercials. 😉 Not sponsored. lol Also loved the reference to the kola nut being a symbol of hospitality – another incredibly important theme during the holiday season. Haven’t sniffed a new Mancera release in a while, but I am a fan of Vetiver Sensuel and vintage Red Tobacco. Nothing really resembling the cola accord in my collection apart from the opening of Creation E edp, so this would be a welcome treat. Minus the sugar rush of course. Dense syrupy affairs can be so comforting during the holidays. Enjoy responsibly!

  • I loved learning more about the history of Coca Cola and how the cherry would balance out this fragrance! I would love to get my nose on this fragrance!

  • I completely agree with Olya. I smelled this fragrance for the first time yesterday and it indeed takes me back to my past and my childhood days. It smells exactly like coca-cola gummy candy. Exactly. I remember the old days, eating these candies, and old Coca-Cola comertials. It’s really cool. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • Memory lane…….back to when I used to drink Cola. Didn’t realize it came from a Kola nut. I’d love to be drinking a Coke on a sun drenched day and we haven’t even gotten to winter yet!! I’ve heard good things about this scent. I’d love to win this. Thanks Twisted Lily and Mancera. Great review Olya. My favorite of the line is Roses Vanille. USA.

  • I loved how delicious this review was. So much history and facts, loved it. I think Tonka Cola would be my favorite from the house it’s just something so unique, I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • I’m a lover of cola, and Olya’s description of the cola accord made me want to wrap my lips around an ice cold bottle. This sounds like a fragrance I’d love to try.

  • Mancera Tonka Cola seems like it succeeds in capturing the note of coke, taking advantage of notes like cinnamon that, indeed, play a part in that unique coke taste. I am in US.

  • wandering_nose says:

Oh how lovely, thank you Olya for the great and so heartfelt review! I love how Olya refers to the anticipation accompanying the moments before one was able to taste this universally adored fizzy bliss. As a kid, I personally used to see Coca Cola more as a symbol of good times during a Sunday afternoon family gathering than a taste I’d cherish, however that has changed over time and these days Coca Cola is like a mood booster in a bottle to me. Love the color of the liquid, scent, the fizz, the taste and the way it makes one feel. Recently I have discovered that I love cinnamon in perfumes, and the combination of cinnamon and cherry in Coca Cola is just one of a kind. I also happen to love and really appreciate lemon, tonka, patchouli, vanilla, benzoin and labdanum as perfume notes, so I know Tonka Cola would be an even better mood booster for me, with the added pleasure of smelling it all over myself and improving the mood of those around me. My favorite Mancera fragrance so far has been Roses Vanille but Tonka Cola would be a more spicy, grown up pleasure on my skin. Thank you from the EU.

  • Olya’s review beautifully captures the nostalgia and cultural significance associated with Mancera Tonka Cola. The description vividly portrays the fragrance’s journey from a blissful cola-inspired opening to its complex, evocative blend of cinnamon, cherry, and other rich notes. Her attention to detail in highlighting the fragrance’s homage to the kola nut’s heritage and its final act with warm, sensual undertones is commendable. Her personal connection to childhood memories and the association of Coca-Cola’s ad campaigns with festive nostalgia resonate with me.
My favorite Mancera is Velvet Rose

  • The review took me back to childhood summers, sipping cold soda! The basenotes of this sound amazing for winter too! I haven’t a favorite Mancera yet.

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

This fragrance is quite an intriguing offering. I enjoyed how Ms. Olya drew on the past history of Coca Cola and tied it in with the idea for this scent profile. Warhol’s quote about how the beverage crosses economic and cultural divides could be a symbol for the potential appeal of this scent. I really hope to win this one as I’ve never tried a Mancera fragrance. Appreciate the generosity of this giveaway. Many blessings from Virginia, USA.

  • I love cola-forward scents; this one having cola as a heart note means the cola essence should last down through to the dry down. I love the description of the carbonation element and the cherry accord. My favorite scents from Mancera are Wild Cherry, Choco Violet and Soleil D’Italie. USA.

  • I’m in love with Mancera and I own 8 and counting. This is a house that has offerings that appeal to anyone regardless of age and attitude. What interested me about tonka cola is how the cherry note comes off and how much does lemon dominate the opening. I only have two of their gourmands and I would love to get my hands on this as it’s hard to get. Plz let me win the bottle from my favorite house. From Jacksonville NC.

I to love cola. Growing up I drank it all the time and even remember some of those commercials from the 80s. I did not know there was an ingredient called kola nut. I like how Olya said about this kola nut ingredient: “it’s a symbol of hospitality and societal bonds, often shared ceremonially in gatherings, bridging the past with the present.” Pretty cool.

  • I really enjoyed diving into the backstory of Coca Cola—it’s pretty darn interesting! Considering how it’s become a classic beverage with a distinctive taste, the idea of Coca Cola delving into fragrances sounds like a natural move. I’m genuinely curious and totally up for trying out this fragrance! New Jersey, USA

  • I just love this review Olya as you said it perfectly that the effervescence and taste of a Coca Cola (and simply the eras of what it symbolizes) is what makes Tonka Cola a love letter to a childhood, a simpler time, a commercial during the holidays…a feeling. Comforting with its fizzy nature and sweetness of vanilla. I can feel myself already transported to a sweet moment and immediately I’m deeply nostalgic. Tonka Cola sounds so special.
    I’m John from USA!

  • From reading the review I liked the nostalgia aspects of this perfume. I don’t yet have a favorite from the Mancera house. US

  • My favorite from Mancera is Cedrat Boise but have not yet tried the intense flanker. From this Tonka Cola intro, I am intrigued by this fragrance paying tribute to the universal appeal of cola drinkers around the world in every nation. Reminds me of the old 70’s commercial… “I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony…”. USA/KY.

  • Ryan Frazier says:

I Love in the review that she brought up the kisses of orange blossom rounding out the fragrance as I have been really warming up to fragrances with orange blossom. My favorite Mancera fragrance is undoubtedly Precious Oud. Mancera Tonka Cola sounds really intriguing!

  • AttentionSpann says:

I love Mancera and this seems like another great release up there with Red Tobacco and Cedrat. I love the history of African roots tied to Kola. I hope to visit someday. This was very interesting to tie this fragrance to a time gone by.

  • I really enjoyed this and learning about the kola nut. Amazing read. My favorite mancera fragrance is probably Instant Crush. Been dying to try this one! I live in the US.

  • What I enjoyed about Olya’s review is how the the kola nut is more than just an ingredient; it’s a symbol of hospitality and societal bonds, often shared ceremonially in gatherings, bridging the past with the present in West African traditions. I haven’t tried any Mancera perfumes. Thank you for the opportunity. New York, USA.

  • Interesting history of Coca Cola and the development of the cola tonic. Mancera Parfums Tonka Cola pays homage to the history of Coke with its blend of citrus, spice, vanilla, cherry and Tonka. The iconic soda is such a part of so many people’s childhood, I’m sure experiencing perfume is a walk down memory lane. I’m in MD.

  • who doesn’t love a delicious glass of fizzy cola? i’d love to smell like a soda shop! olya has reminded me of the classic coca-cola christmas campaigns and i can’t wait to try this festive fragrance. i haven’t tried anything by mancera yet, but hopefully tonka cola will become my new fav.

  • Oh Olya, from the first time I ever knew this was coming and the name revealed, J knew I had to seek it out somehow. Who doesn’t love Coca Cola or soda in general? It’s a sweet fragrance but because of the fizziness I see this being worn in the summer to provide a freshness on very hot days. My favorite Mancera is still Cedrat Boise as it has stood the test of time. Cheers from NJ, USA.

  • I am not surprised that so many people have come to love this fragrance already! Just as Olya mentioned, the memories that Coca Cola evokes are numerous and shared by so many people around the world! And you know that flavor! You know that scent! I can only presume that this will end up being one of Manceras finest along with Cedrat Boise and Instant Crush! Two of my favorites and for good reason!

  • I don’t own any Mancera in my collection yet, and Tonka Cola has been in my radar for a while.

As an anecdote, when I go to the movie theaters, and before the movie starts the Coke ad comes up, in my mind, I can smell the Coca Cola from the images. The flavor, the fizz, the refreshing aspect. All comes to mind.

The same happens here, when I see or read about Mancera Tonka Cola, that’s the impression I got.

    From Massachusetts.

    Cheers

  • I love that syrupy note of cola in fragrances. I’ve never had a chance to actually smell this particular Mancera fragrance but I love just about every one I’ve ever tried. This one has such an interesting combination of notes. The drydown sounds beautiful.

    I live in the USA.

  • Hello from Florida, and thank you to Olya for the review!

I’ve heard a lot about Tonka Cola, and it really does sound like a beautiful scent — a “romantic ode” at every stage of drydown. I’d love to give this iconic perfume from Mancera try!

  • Kola nut and fizz.
Mancera has long been a favorite.
I would absolutely be honored to win this fragrance.
    Thank you for the giveaways.

  • Ever since I saw this release a year ago I’ve been intrigued by it. I love fizzy effervescent type scents. Definitely would like to give this one a smell. NYC

  • Sparkling , cherry, sweet cinnamon, edible warmth, Olya showed all the beautiful aspects of Tonka Cola
Romantic, yet bold fragrance, relieving the moments of joy with ice cold Coca-Cola and Tonka Cola – sounds great to me.
Mancera do have a lot of fragrances, so owning 5 is not enough, I’d like to try and buy more. Aoud Black Candy + Roses and Chocolate + Sicily + Blue Notes + Choco Violet are my 5 Mancera’s.
Judging by Olya’s love letter to a bygone era Tonka Cola could easily become my favorite Mancera fragrance
    Thanks for the draw

  • Break cola down to its individual elements and there’s a lot to love in a perfume, including juicy lemon, herbs, fruit, and spice (in the case of Mancera Tonka Cola, cherry and cinnamon). The tonka and vanilla base is a clever way of capturing that creamy-sweet finish below the initial blast of flavor in a cold soda, while I assume the patchouli, benzoin, and labdanum make it more balanced and complex. Mancera Tonka Cola sounds like a fun, nostalgic wear, and less sweet than many gourmands.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Mancera perfumes, but I’d love to try this one.

  • Although I don’t drink soda, I have always liked the taste and smell of Coca-Cola. Therefore, I tend to really love any fragrance that smells like cola. I try to test any fragrance that features a cola note or is said to smell like cola, so I tried Mancera Tonka Cola after its release. It definitely smelled like fizzy cola! I agree with Olya’s comment about the fragrance transforming into a “sumptuous cola accord”. I also love how she mentions that a “whisper of sweet cinnamon weaves through the scent”; it absolutely does and makes it a warm and cozy fragrance. I can definitely see the association with a cherry soda float. The tonka and vanilla are perfect base notes for the fragrance. The resins also stand out, which I particularly love. Like Olya, I find myself craving Coca-Cola during Christmastime. I would love to own a bottle of Mancera Tonka Cola to satisfy those cravings long-term!

Before testing Tonka Cola, my favorite fragrance from Mancera was Aoud Orchid or Velvet Vanilla. However, after I tried Tonka Cola, it definitely became my favorite fragrance from Mancera. I love resinous, spicy gourmand fragrances and it fits the bill perfectly.

Thank you, Olya, for the amazing review, and thank you to Twisted Lily for the giveaway! I am located in the USA.

I remember the old Coca-Cola commercials that aired during the Christmas season! What nostalgia. I used to drink coke with lemon when I was a kid. I thought it was so fancy. Now I no longer drink coke, unless I have a very bad stomachache. The smell cheers me up. I love that the

  • Freedom of choice in life is essential, doesn’t matter if it’s clothes, perfumes, or overall styling. Mancera have solution for your taste, and the guys who had very much the opposite taste than you. Olya presented Tonka Cola in such a great cozy-stylish way . I do remember the Coca Cola special occasions period, cultural influences are known to everyone worldwide i believe.
The fizzy edible warmth, floral freshness, comforting vanilla and resins all add to the composition in a great way. I also like the Andy Warhol quote, true artist I’m a fan of.
Not all , but most people associate Mancera with Cedrat Boise , I own it too , just like millions of other people worldwide. Sicily and Vanille Exclusif are the other two Mancera fragrances i own.
My favorite Mancera is Cedrat Boise
    Thank you Olya, Twisted Lilly

  • I like Olya reviews a lot, she always has some interesting, extra information to add to every review, and every fragrance. This time she told us more about the history of Coca-Cola and the cultural impact it had for such a long period of time.
Olya’s take on Tonka Cola made me think of making Kola Nut Wedding Cake, and later on eating some on the wedding day with some Coca-Cola , definitely my kind of fragrance.
At the moment I own Cedrat Boise , Instant Crush , Crazy For Oud and Aoud Black Candy.
Favorite Mancera is Aoud Black Candy , Love the lakritz candies accord in it. Worldwide most use “lakritz” , but in States it’s known as licorice .
Appreciate the review, Coca-Cola info , and the giveaway campaign

  • I like the Mancera fragrance Olya chose for the Winter season , Tonka Cola more oriented towards colder weather i believe.
The carbonated Coca-Cola accord , the cinnamon , cherry and the comforting vanilla are so appealing to me. Haven’t drank Coca-Cola last few years , still just like Olya i know the feeling.
My favorite Mancera is Precious Oud , also I’d like to say the one that gets me the most compliments is Aoud Cafe.
    Exciting giveaway, USA

  • Tonka Cola became a hit in the fragrance community for a good reason, such a bubbly and happy fragrance. I love the childhood memories Olya had with Coca-Cola, and the way the fragrance warm up all , sweet fizzy , fruity and just a bit boozy
Wild Cherry is my favorite Mancera

  • Mancera catalog is vast, there’s a fragrance for every fragrance lover, no matter the preferences of the buyer. To my point, the brand clicks with me really well , and on top of all performance is always there.
What surprised me a lot in Olya’s thoughs of Tonka Cola is the fact she never mentioned Cognac, it’s very much a boozy fragrance I believe. Sweet, cozy, even festive beauty Not sure about how edible it is , but I think it’s unequivocally drinkable. I think Tonka Cola smells like Cognac and Coke coctail , with lime wedge and a few maraschino cherries for garnish. I’ll treat myself with the cocktail 🙂 Resonant soulfulness i agree , both the cocktail and Tonka Cola
My two favorite Mancera fragrances are Choco Violet,Wild Fruits and Tonka Cola , first two i own
