Today, I am venturing into an aromatic narrative woven by perfumer Michelle Bruckmann with the latest fragrance, Blocki Brazilian Lily from the Heritage Collection. This collection is a historical tapestry, a revival of the true stories that perfumed the original Blocki creations of the early 20th century.

I imagine stepping into a scene where the relentless rain has just ceased its percussive symphony against the verdant earth. In its majestic authority, the sun slices through the remnants of a humid haze, asserting its warmth on the world below. There’s a distinct freshness of bergamot and neroli in the air that speaks of renewal and life—a sensory promise that something breathtaking is about to unfold.

As I traverse this olfactory journey, I find myself beneath a canopy of ancient trees where green light is filtered into a spectrum of emerald hues. In this enchanted forest, your senses are greeted by water droplets, each a miniature lens magnifying the vitality of the jungle. They bead-like precious jewels on surfaces of ripe fruits and berries that hang temptingly from the boughs and on the tender petals of myriad rain lily flowers that carpet the forest floor.

It’s here, amid this post-rain reverie, that the breeze becomes a perfumer’s apprentice, carrying forth the heady, intoxicating scent of lilies—the signature note of Brazilian Lily. Inspired by a Blocki perfume from 1903, this fragrance is a loving nod to its namesake, a concoction that captures the heart of an untamed garden in full, unabashed bloom.

Blocki Brazilian Lily is a complex bouquet of tropical florals that converge in a dance of exotic elegance without being overly heady. There is so much air in the fragrance you want to inhale it with every millimeter of your lung capacity. Each spritz releases a medley of lush notes of tart red currants and succulent white figs, intermingling with the distinguished aroma of driftwood—a reminder of the forest’s proximity to the alluring Brazilian shores. The soft warmth of amber and musk adds all their beauty to the enveloping woody trail without trying to steal the spotlight from the fruity florals in the heart. Michelle Bruckmann, with an artist’s precision and a poet’s soul, has composed  Blocki Brazilian Lily to be more than just a scent—it’s a moment of escape to the heart of the jungle, captured in a bottle. It speaks of heritage, of stories whispered in every drop.

Blocki Brazilian Lily is a narrative of adventure, a glimpse into a bygone era, and an intimate encounter with nature. In an age where the art of fragrance often bows to the pressures of commercial demands, Blocki’s Brazilian Lily is a testament to the brand’s commitment to storytelling through scent. It serves as a reminder that some stories are best told not through words but through the silent language of perfume.

Notes: red currant, neroli, bergamot, white fig, rain lily, driftwood, amber, musk.

The bottle was kindly gifted to me but opinions are always my own.

  • What appealed to me in Olya’s review of Blocki Brazilian Lily is how the perfumer Michelle Bruckmann composed Blocki Brazilian Lily to be more than a scent, an escape to the heart of a jungle captured in a bottle. Thank you for the opportunity. From New York, USA.

  • I like the idea of an enchanted forest where something breathtaking is about to happen. The older I become, the more I want to encounter nature. The city has lots its appeal. I would love to experience this. Thanks for the chance. USA.

Sounds like a spring and early fall banger. Once again introduced to a new house and what allures me on this is the fresh bergamot and neroli opening and what sounds like a green fruity base. Everything sounds balanced and I know they put alot of work and creativity in that 50 ml. Would love to enter and win. From Jacksonville NC

I am interested in Brazilian Lily because it reminds me of walking through the greenhouse in the SF botanical gardens. I enjoyed Olya’s comment that it has “so much air in the fragrance you want to inhale it with every millimeter of your lung capacity.” I am also excited by the notes! Lilies and figs mixing with amber and musk! Plus, the Red List Project for plant conservation seems like a wonderful organization.

How nice of the brand to donate a portion of the sales to a good cause, would love to see that more! Would love to win this fragrance and try it out.

  • Great review by Olya, as always.
This is my first time I read or know something about Blocki but it will not surely be the last time. I am intrigued how this beautiful bouquet of tropical florals smells like. Brazil is such and amazing place and knowing it is the inspiration of this fragrance makes me want to try it even more.
I hope I win Brazilian Lily.

  • Hello from Indiana, hearing Olya say that each breath is full of air, I think I know exactly what she’s speaking of. When I smell Lily done right in perfumerie it takes me back to when I was a teenager and I’d worked for a florist. One of the greatest olfactory experiences I’d had was smelling the refrigerated flowers and when I smell Lily in a fragrance, it takes me right there. Cool and refreshing, almost clearing. It’s so hard to find that in a fragrance that lasts and is of exceptional quality. This may be what I’m looking for.

  • Blocki Brazilian Lily sounds like a fragrance celebrating the terroir of the Amazon rainforest. The bouquet of tropical flowers in the presence of ripe fruit with an undercurrent of driftwood is reminiscent of the rainforest with its network of rivers and streams. Olya mentioned that there is so much air in the fragrance you want to inhale it with every millimeter of your lung capacity. That tells me it’s an olfactory journey to a place most of us will never experience. I’m in the US

  • Brazilian Lily sounds really intriguing. It sounds almost atmospheric in Olya’s review. I can picture smelling the after after the rain walking through a tropical forest. I love that part of the proceeds go to The Red List Project! From Virginia, USA.

I spend a lot of time in Brazil and Olya’s review made me think of the tropical rain showers that fall almost every afternoon in the summer. These showers are welcome because they cool the air and bring lushness to the landscapes. I think the driftwood note must make Brazilian Lily very special.

I like floral perfume. Olya described this in a very pleasing way. Driftwood is new to me, never heard of if before. Hopefully I can win. My brother has an address in USA.

Few fragrance are capable of telling a story well, let alone taking it’s wearer on an olfactive journey.

I really enjoyed reading about this scent. Florals can be cloying and it’s nice to see one that is airy and expansive, just like a subtle breeze through still plants.

    Would love to sample this.

  • Blocki’s references to their brand history are a clever way of distinguishing their perfumes, like the namesake floral in Brazilian Lily. While the central lily accord is obviously a fixture, and the combination of neroli, current, and figs sounds heady, the driftwood note strikes me as an unusually evocative choice. Olya mentioned, “There is so much air in the fragrance you want to inhale it with every millimeter of your lung capacity.” That sounds like a lovely attribute for a fruity-floral.

  • Michael Prince says:

What appealed to me in Olya’s review of Blocki Brazilian Lily is the beautiful assortment of tropical florals that really offers a burst of freshness to the overall composition. The warmth and resinous sweetness of the amber and vanilla it sounds lovely. I am from the USA.

  • I recently smelled lily flowers for the first time. Much like civet, you are taken aback by the strange smell, but for some reason, you want to keep smelling it. I appreciate brands that are aware of the environmental impacts of perfumery and find ways to be sustainable. It’s good to see that part of the profit goes toward the Red List Project. Olya always makes you imagine beauty in these reviews. I love the idea of a walk through a post-heavy rainforest. I know exactly what that smells like. This type of walk is one of my favourites, I can already see fresh mushrooms growing on the side of those ancient trees. Lily makes PERFECT sense for this type of environment. This seems lovely, I’ve gotta get my nose on it.
    Cheers from Illinois, USA.

Olya, I appreciate your in-depth review of Blocki’s latest creation. Being an outdoor person, your olfactive description lured me right in. I’m ready for “a moment of escape to the heart of the jungle.”
