Top Ten Perfumes of 2022 (Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen) + A Very Good Year Giveaways

Michelyn and Ermano’s Top Ten Perfumes of 2022

In Part 1, Editor Ermano Picco and I began with an overview of the best perfumes as well as the top trends of 2022. Ermano lives in Milan and I live in New York City. We haven’t seen each other in three years!!! Often, I am asked is there a difference between how people from different countries judge perfumes? This year there are only two overlaps, but I believe it’s based on access more than anything. In no particular order, we present our top ten perfumes of 2022 and my 15 honorable mentions. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Best Perfumes of 2022

Ermano’s Top Ten Perfumes of 2022 collage by Emmanuelle

Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio (Antonio Alessandria): After Rusty Vibes, created in 2020 to celebrate 10 years of ÇaFleureBon, Perfumer Antonio Alessandria is back after a hiatus due to the pandemic with a much-awaited release. Amado Mio is a dance cheek to cheek with rose and tobacco following the rousing music of yummy honey, raspberry, and bran absolute over a bed of dark woods. For lovers of Antonio’s elegant and multifaceted touch will go nuts for his unique take on rose. A must sniff. -Ermano Picco

April Aromatics Lost in roses (Tanja Bochnig): I was happy to meet natural perfumer Tanja Bochnig in June and to smell her latest creation focusing on roses. It was an extremely difficult year for me and smelling the beauty of Lost in roses where Tanja unashamedly poured rose extractions with their kaleidoscope of sensations that gave me a burst of joy. That’s what this perfume is at every spray, a burst of joy.-Ermano

Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu (Dominique Ropion:) Born from an incredible collaboration between Perfumer Dominique Ropion and perfume anthropologist Annick Le Guérer in the collection Trois Parfums Historiques, Le Dieu Bleu strikes as an incredible reconstruction of the mythical Kyphi. Balmy, vinous, honeyed and floral, Le Dieu Bleu is the headiest concoction in the trio and distils the perfect balance between sacred and mundane. -Ermano

Zoologist Cow (Nathalie Feisthauer): I must be honest: I was expecting from Cow a monolithic load of condensed milk blended with sticky caramel and heavy notes reminiscent of treats and cakes. That’s probably how many would have played it but no, not Zoologist founder Victor Wong and perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer. Cow is a lighthearted green floral with such a mellow drydown bringing ingenuously happy vibes that succeeds at getting me back to childhood. Spray, inspire, and smile. -Ermano

Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels (Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal): Slow perfumery at its best. Everything about this perfume, from its beautiful name, its stunning scent and artistic bottle immediately won us over. Ermano got a preview last June in Milan by perfumer Isabelle Doyen, as Camille Goutal couldn’t attend. Michelyn was fortunate to receive tiny sample from Indigo Perfumery only recently. Immortelle is an incredibly complex raw material with spicy, herbal, chypre, woody and edible facets and here they are all super enhanced; drenched in a boozy, thick, and ambery syrup. With exceptional sillage and longevity  not usually expected  for a natural perfume. Simply addictive. -Ermano and Michelyn

Top Ten perfumes of 2022

Zoologist Sacred Scarab (Sultan Pasha): In ancient Egypt scarabs were considered celestial symbols and were carved and engraved in stones as amulets to be placed on the heart. What could have been a cliché dealing with musty mummies and middle eastern balms, Sultan Pasha turned it to a lesson in entomology, perfumery and history. Since the first whiff I applauded Sacred Scarab as an iridescent perfume unfolding aldehydic glows, peachy suave blossoms, heady wines and beautiful resins. A fragrant amulet for 2023.-Ermano

Houbigant Figuier Noir (Céline Ellena): Fig has been so much exploited during the past two decades as a symbol of summer easy living that nowadays it might smell redundant and boring. Perfumer Céline Ellena interpretation is so crisp and multifaceted with acidulous, sappy and woody velvetiness it grew on me during this yeas as a brilliant diorama of this simple fruit. When simple is not banal. -Ermano

Fragments by NVC Nemus (Bertrand Duchaufour): Fragments by NVC debuted last spring as a more approachable line by creative director Neela Vermeire, and I must admit I was eager to smell it for Neela proved with her main line to be a daring, visionary player of indie perfumery, but at the same time I feared about a “downgrade” effect. At first smell the line was a total thumb up, but especially the sparkling Nemus made it more than others Oud is sublimated in a gorgeous herbal and citrus dryness like perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour never did before. -Ermano

Frassaï Victoria (Irina Burlakova): These days of loud, monolithic, uninspired perfume blockbusters, it takes courage to go your own way and create a classy, yet modern symphonic beauty built around the Diva of flowers, tuberose juxtaposed with oud. That’s why I couldn’t help falling in love with this perfume inspired by a bold, intelligent woman like Argentine writer and publisher Victoria Ocampo. So chic!=, which is why it is on my top ten perfumes of 2022 list.

Masque Milano White Whale (Christian Alori): Big dreams need ambition, infinite horizons need strong hearts, their smell needs capable lungs to deeply inspire. White Whale is not just the smell of sea, but the adrenaline of reaching the impossible like touching a block of precious ambergris and smelling your fingers in awe. That’s what the creative team of Masque Milano and perfumer Christian Alori achieved with White Whale, and what we all need after all from perfume, to bring us a little awe every day.  -Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen

What are the top ten perfumes of 2022

Michelyn’s Top Ten (11) Perfumes of 2022 (nine here because of the above overlap with Ermano) collage by Emmanuelle

Firstly, this was an exceptional year for artisan and independent perfumery. I had a lot of difficulty narrowing it down to 10, plus 15 honorable mentions. What they all had in common was the way they made me feel….-Michelyn

Fragments by NVC Thyina (Fabrice Olivieri) is a luminous perfume with a vintage vibe. It is a study in simplexity- you really need to wear it for at least an hour so that the many facets and layers of lavender, sandalwood, hazelnut, Peru balsam, coffee reveal themselves. Neela with perfumer Fabrice Olivieri managed to create a truly comforting and easy to wear fragrance. The sandalwood is amongst the finest I have smelt and weaves its soothing song throughout the composition. It smells like the highest quality natural ingredients were used, and no wonder, M.Olivieri is the perfumer who composed Undergreen Black, Gold and White. I wear it when I want to wind down from a particularly stressful day, which lately is every day. -Michelyn Camen

Olivier Durbano M.Oldavite (Olivier Durbano): Named for a rare glass, which is believed to be formed by a meteorite that landed in Southern Germany about 15 million ago. It literally glows on the skin as it wraps you in the healing embrace of Palo Santo, which is thought to strengthen the immune system. The green herbalcy of angelica and vetiver, the soft incense and the golden resins, play both with warmth and coolness. Did Oliver create M.Oldavite as a perfume talisman during the pandemic? Whatever his intent, the fragrance is a scented spiritual journey, a true jewel that reminds us of the transformative and protective properties of perfume. – Michelyn

Amouage Royal Tobacco (Cecile Zarokian): This is my favorite Amouage perfume of all time. Cecile Zarokian, who was my best perfumer of 2021 when she returned to Amouage after 11 yrs. She was given an antique cigar box from Chief Experience Officer Renaud Salmon in order to explore it olfactively in context of Cuba and Oman. As Karl wrote, “Her brief was to align both cultures to create a ‘Real’ tobacco through a contrast of hot and cold accords; to search for the best quality of tobacco absolute bringing across the fusion of cigars and woods”. And she  accomplishes this and more. The licorice root note is unexpected and adds depth and sweetness.  Amouage’s signature frankincense runs throughout, weaving curls of smoke around resin, spices and a hint of aromatics.  Along with Vero Kern (RIP) 2017 NAJA) Royal Tobacco is the best tobacco fragrance of the past decade -Michelyn

Matière Première French Flower (Aurelien Guichard) celebrates the intoxicating Queen of the night: tuberose. In my interview with Aurelien Guichard, he wrote that the perfumer he would like to meet from the past was Germaine Cellier, who created the landmark tuberose Piguet Fracas. French Flower was cultivated in his own field in Grasse, using tuberose enfleurage and tuberose absolue. This interpretation of the polarizing white flower will appeal to those, like me, who usually shy from its indolic qualities.  French Flower is elegant and built on a classical construction, with ginger and tealeaf oil adding a a modern twist. Aurélien Guichard was one of my perfumers of 2022 for good reason as once again he shows his love for raw materials and his mastery of them from start to finish.-Michelyn

Top Ten perfumes of 2022

Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur (Maurus Bachman): In all my years of writing and testing thousands of perfumes, only twice has a fragrance had such a profound effect on me. While I wear Fragments by NVC Thyina before I go to sleep, Eau Coeur is my scent of seduction. I will wear it out at night and literally heads turn and more than one person (usually a man) asks me what is that fragrance? Since I wear perfume for myself. I wear it any time I want to feel glamorous and sexy. Thomas de Monaco and perfumer Maurus Bachman have created a heart stopping beautiful perfume. If you read Part One it was my fragrance of the year, so of course, it is on my top ten perfumes of 2022 list.-Michelyn

Der Duft Privilege (Nathalie Feisthauer): It is a privilege to name this as one of my top ten perfumes of 2022. It is the best Der Duft to date, composed by Nathalie Feisthauer who is also one of my best perfumers of 2022, literally arriving to me less than two weeks ago. This is why I wait to the last moments of the year before finalizing my list. It is a green scent at the top, initially with a burst of galbanum. It mellows and shifts with sea notes that are more mineralic than aquatic, but at the core of Privilege, is a mélange of fruits, soft woods and musk. If Privilege was a path, it takes me to a happy place. One I have only visited in my imagination-Michelyn

Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato): Marc-Antoine Corticchiato best perfume of 2021, Mal Aime, is a masterpiece. His new Vetiver Bourbon is another example of why he is one of the best  perfumers in the world (IMHO)). He doesn’t follow trends, just his own path. With Vetiver Bourbon, he goes back to his roots, literally. As Emmanuelle write in her review, “As he did for Parfum d’Empire Mal-Aimé, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato pays tribute to his deceased friend Lucien Acquarone, an incomparable distiller of plants used in perfumery; they  went on many trips in search of  the finest raw materials. Whenever Marc-Antoine and Lucien went to their extraction unit located in Madagascar, they would always stopover in La Réunion to stock up on vetiver essential oils, and watch the harvesting of its roots, which requires incredible strength. They then came up with the idea of recovering “Bourbon” strains to plant them in Madagascar and perpetuate the unique quality of this rare and multi-faceted vetiver.” Unique and multi-faceted it is, initially quite challenging too in its boldness. This is not some iteration of a crowd-pleasing designer vetiver fragrance. Vetiver Bourbon is never harsh; it is rounded by ambrette, cloves and iris facets. Vetiver is known as the oil of tranquility, and although this a powerful fragrance, it also is as healing as wild nature. You have never smelled anything quite like it. -Michelyn

L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc (Alexandra Carlin): I named L’Artisan Parfumeur my best niche house of 2022 because of their new innovative Le Potager Collection. When Elise and I were at The World Perfumery Conference we learned about a technology SymTrap® from Symrise, an extraction technology making it possible to create ingredients from by-products of the food industry, promoting upcycling.  Out of the five fragrances, Tonka Blanc is the only one that actually uses a natural vegetable extract, cauliflower. Now there is a reason to wear your vegetables; perfumer Alexandra Carlin was inspired by the naturopath Jennifer Hart-Smith’s cauliflower cheesecake recipe. Tonka Blanc is warm, cozy fragrance with creamy, lactonic facets that the cauliflower imparts pairing beautifully with the sweetness of tonka bean.

Azman Killer Vavoom (Miguel Matos): AZMAN is my best independent fragrance house of 2022, so it was an “eeny meenie miney mo” situation as each appeals to me and each is unique. After testing all five of the new releases, Killer Vavooom won as one of my top ten perfumes of 2022. Decadently rich with deep dark chocolate and plum, it tempts you with heady florals heightened by a deep dose of orris which glides on an oakmoss, musky base. In Karl’s review he likened Killer Vavoom to a Tango. Let’s Dance- Michelyn Camen

Always a fascinating read and take on the years releases, as it has been my privilege to smell most, I have great affinity with both Michelyn’s and Ermano’s selections. Truly a year full of masterpieces, Sacred Scarab, Cow, Lost in Roses, Amado Mio, Royal Tobacco, Privilege, Eau Coeur, killer Vavoom, so many yes, yes, yes…. A stand out year in which so many wonderful brands and perfumers stood out strongly. Always a pleasutre to read and I look forward to the rest of teh team’s conclusions. Thank you, for me I too, was completely enamoured with French Flower, truly exquisite , so of course that would be my first choice, followed by Neela’s Thyina, a masterfully crafted herbal lay of great depth. Thank you, I live in France

  • The winning selections are each outstanding!
But so is this huge undertaking to not only smell thousands of perfumes, then to narrow them down only to arrive at the daunting chore of describing them all to us in such expressive and vivid terms.

Kudos to the entire Cafleurebon team!!

  • Any of these scents would be unbelievable to own but the Voyages Imaginaires would be my pick.
    Oklahoma

  • Wow these sound stunning! If I could choose any, it would be French Flower. This sounds stunning with its note of tuberose. From CT USA. Happy New Year!

  • Wow, a fun list! I am a sucker for end of year lists, and remembering all the good things that someone has experienced. What a lot of work narrowing it down must have been! Most of these I have not smelled, so I enjoyed reading and imagining. I’d love to try Voyage Imaginaire L’Eau des Immortels if I won. I’m in the US.

  • Once again an incredible review by Ermano and Michelyn with new perfumes to check out. I see a few familiar perfume houses like Amouage, L’Artisan, Zoologist that I’ve heard a lot about while researching perfume houses, but the rest are completely new to me, except for Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur that I discovered in the last post. Will definitely need to check out Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels and Fragments by NVC Nemus based on the detailed descriptions provided by both Michelyn and Ermano (even more so since they were recommended by both.). If I won would love to have a bottle of Thyina Fragments by NV, and thank you CaFleureBon for hosting such an amazing series of giveaways. From TX, USA.

  • I have a sample of Amouage’s Royal Tobacco. You really cannot go wrong with that. A fine powerful and aromatic mix of incense and tobacco. Heavenly! The true style of Amouage! Unfortunately, the rest from the list are still unknown to me, but hopefully I will get to try some of them soon.
I am in Europe and I am mainly curious about Neela’s Vermeire Thyina, but also about Parfum d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon.
    Thanks!

  • Lots and lots of interesting choices! I think that it is hard to go wrong with any of these if you were to play the roulette of blind buying.
I am in Europe and I would love to win French Flower by Matiere Premiere. Firstly, because I love tuberose and, secondly because I feel like I am the only person from the community that has not smelled anything from this house.
Thanks and good luck to everyone!

  • Your selections are incredible. I can’t imagine having to narrow it down. Just the honorable mentions have some of the most stunning scents – Moving on by St Clair for example. The vetiver Bourbon was a really touching back story. The French Flower as well, to return to a moment and to start with something so personal as flowers in your back yard…I really love the behind the scenes stories you bring us.
That said, now my difficult decision of choosing only one if I am so lucky!
L’Eau des Immortels I think is the one that best matches me. Thank you for your great work all year! And these opportunities to smell the great work of the artists among us.
    From USA

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

French Flower is my choice because I love tuberose and when I see one I want it. I am adicted to tuberose.
    I am from EU.

  • I am intrigued by the choices of both Michelyn and Ermano but I am drawn to bourbon vetiver by parfums d empire mostly. If I am lucky I would love to win this particular fragrance. Thanks a million from the UK

  • harvesting of its roots, which requires incredible strength. They then came up with the idea of recovering “Bourbon” strains to plant them in Madagascar and perpetuate the unique quality of this rare and multi-faceted vetiver.” Unique and multi-faceted it is, initially quite challenging too in its boldness. Vetiver is known as the oil of tranquility, and although this a powerful fragrance, it also is as healing as wild nature. You have never smelled anything quite like it. -Michelyn. A beautiful description by Emmanuel, Michelyn and Ermano I am really fascinated by Parfums d empire Bourbon vetiver if I am successful I would love to win this. Thanks a lot from the United Kingdom

  • Wonderful list of the winners of the year, I will try to sample them all! My interest is especially oriented towards Zoologist and new Neela Vermeire line, then also French Flower, Royal Tobacco and M.Oldavite. I enjoyed reading Michelyn’s emotional review of Eau Coeur Thomas de Monaco, but I don’t feel that such fragrance could suit me (but need to try it first). “What we all need after all from perfume, to bring us a little awe every day” – my favorite quote from Ermano. Thank you for all the good moments, Cafleurebon!

My choice for this draw is NEMUS Fragments by NVC (I live in the EU).

  • Wow, what a year of fragrances! You both did an excellent job choosing your favorites. I know that is an arduous task, for me it’s like picking a favorite child. I was thrilled to see some scents I am familiar with on the list, but was more excited to discover ones I had completely missed such as Azman Killer Vavoom, both of the Fragments by NVC offerings, Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon, and various others. Michelyn’s praise of L’Artisan Parfumeur and their Le Potager Collection also reminded me that I seriously need to get my nose on them – I really want to try the Tonka Blanc Michelyn spoke about, but also the one based on beet root. As far as which one I would choose if I won, hmmm, that is no easy task. I believe, though, that I would have to go with Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon as I love an unbridled vetiver and it sounds like it would deliver. I live in North Carolina, USA.

  • Now these are some interesting choices! Some I’ve tried, most not yet. Lost in roses is beautiful, but Ermano and Michelyn sparked my interest in L’Eau des Immortels calling it “Simply addictive” and in White Whale saying it’s a perfume bringing us a little awe every day.
Out of the 15 honorable mentions, I’m familiar with only one, but most sound delicious, especially Der Duft Privilege because I love tge work of Nathalie Feisthauer!
I’d love Matière Première or Voyage Imaginaires.
    Hugs from Croatia, EU.

  • Katalin Kadar says:

Both of your winning selections are amazing! I think my favourite would be April Aromatics Lost in Roses.
From the Giveaway bottles the French Flower is my favourite, but I’m living in UK, London, I’m nit sure this is possible for me.
I wish you a Happy New Year! 🙂

  • Both of your selections are amazing! My favourite would be April Aromatics Lost in Roses, I think.
From the Giveaway bottles my favourite is French Garden, but I’m from London, UK, I’m not sure if I can enter for that one.

  • As expected, these are some awesome selections for the best fragrances of the year. I get how you feel, though, having to single out just a few, when the whole year has been filled with amazing new launches. White Whale by Masque Milano is indeed a stellar, awe-inducing fragrance, and I am happy it made the cut. Some of your choices, however, I have not heard of before, so it was very exciting to learn of new fragrance houses and what they have to offer. I can’t wait to hear what fragrances the other writers here at Cafleurebon will crown as the best of the year.

If I were lucky enough to win, I think that I would love a bottle of Vetiver Bourbon by Parfum d’Empire. The backstory was really touching, your review of it piqued my interest, and I really need another Vetiver scent in my collection. Thank you for this opportunity.

    I live in Sweden/EU.

  • Wow, Ermano and Michelyn, these are some amazing choices. I couldn’t have done it better myself. Many of these I have not heard of before, but Amouage’s Royal Tobacco is *amazing*. It can’t be properly underlined how stellar it is, it’s the pinnacle of tobacco in perfumery, in my honest opinion. Cecile Zarokian’s works make my nose cry tears of happiness, words can’t describe how highly I rate her. I hope 2023 is her year, where we see many more works of art with her name attached to them. Michelyn’s honourable mentions truly make me understand her pain in choosing only 11 as the best of the year, I couldn’t possibly to that myself.

The giveaway options are absolutely fantastic, and if it was possible I’d like to win them all (haha), but I know that is not possible. If I had to single one out, it would be Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels. Sadly, I didn’t win the first giveaway of this perfume, which was brilliantly reviewed by Emmanuelle Varron, so I am grateful that I have another opportunity of winning the fragrance dubbed one of the best fragrances of the year by both Michelyn and Ermano. Thank you.

    Writing from the EU.

  • These choices are spot-on, if you’d ask me. I couldn’t have compiled a better list, myself. I truly understand why Michelyn decided to have 15 honourable mentions, because it would be a crime to not acknowledge some of the perfumes released this year by artisan and independent houses. Nathalie Feisthauer’ works speak to me on a molecular level. She’s a generational perfumer and I am glad that she recieved some well-earned attention in this article, and in general.

Any of the scents available in the giveaway would be a nice addition to my fragrance collection, but I am particularly drawn to Vetiver Bourbon by Parfum d’Empire. It sounds absolutely amazing, and I would love to have it here next to me. Many thanks for hosting this giveaway, for the brands who hooked you up with the bottles making this possible, and this informative and impressive article.

I live in Sweden, EU 🙂

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

I love this review. It rounded out 2022 nicely. I really enjoyed royal tobacco this year. The story about Cecile’s return to amouage and the cigar box is cool. I’d love to win French flower. I live in Indiana.

  • Wow, what a great list Michelyn and Ermano! In a perfect world, it would be like the list of presents of the three wise men (los Reyes Magos in Spain). It is so good to see that in the list there are well stablished (“Seniors”) perfumers such as Ropion, Feisthauer, Duchaufour, Cortichiato, …) and new blood (Alori, Burlakova, Guichard, Bachmann, Carlin,…) The perfumer world has a bright future as the present we enjoy. I agree 100% in the way people from different countries judge perfumes, obviously there are different markets to prove it. Perhaps very well trained noses like yours and Ermano differ little. It is amazing to see that 2 houses made 2 perfumes each to the top ten: Fragments By NVC ( one of the reasons made Neela Vermeire best creative director of the year) and Zoologist. As a fan of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, I am so happy his latest creation Veitiver Bourbon made it to the list again after the amazing Mal-Aimee. I would choose if I win, Parfum d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon or L’Eau des Immortels. I live in Spain, EU.

  • What strikes me about both your top picks is that they contain so many different genres of perfume. I find it fascinating that you both can appreciate and wear so many different styles. I usually tend to stick with a few genres but your picks motivated me to get out of my comfort zone. I haven’t explored vetiver fragrances any deeper than the reference Guerlain (which is lovely) so I’d be honored to enter the giveaway for Vetiver Bourbon.

    I am from Sweden.

  • Fantastic selection, there is something for every taste and even the honorable mentions are totally worthy perfumes in their own!
I would love to win any of the 4 perfumes, from the EU.
    Happy and fragrant holidays everyone!

  • This is a great list to wrap up the year 🙂 It’s nice to have both well known houses like Amouage while at the same time exposing us to the new kids on the block. I’m also quite intrigued by Masque Milano White Whale seeing that you both had it in your top-10 list. The honorable mentions were also a treat with Solstice Clover and Wood Smoke catching my eye. I would choose Matière Première French Flower from the giveaway and this would be an absolute treat to win. Thank you and Happy New year everyone. I’m in USA

  • Fascinating choices! 2022 was a good year for perfumery.
I’m a bit surprised to see Zoologist made it to the top 10 twice – I really wasn’t aware of this brand’s quality… Love that Tanja Bochnig and Céline Ellena are here too! Nice list of honorable mentions, though I must admit I’d push out some top 10 to make space for some of those honorable 15. (Der Duft Privilege, Azman Killer Vavoom)… 🙂
My choice: first L’Eau des Immortels, second French Flower. 🙂
    EU

  • My pick for the draw would be L’Eau des Immortels as it reads like something I’d like an it’s an overlap. Not much else to say as I don’t live in an area to sample these in brick and mortar. US

  • Wow, what a great list, Michelyn and Ermano! I highly doubt I could have done it any better myself. I am quite new to the wonderful world of fragrance, as well as your esteemed perfume blog, and I can tell for certain that you know what you’re talking about. Cecile Zerokian has quickly become one of my favourite perfumers out there, from Tango by Masque Milano to the one you’ve featured here, Royal Tobacco XIV by Amouage. I hope she gets to put her stamp on more fragrances in 2023 and the future. Have a happy new year, and may the next year be better than it’s predecessors.

I would be blessed to win any of these fragrances, especially since this is only the third giveaway I’m partaking in. However, if I were to win, I’d want it to be Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels. It sounds truly exquisite.

    Cheerishly writing from the EU.

  • Thank you for your informative article. Sacred Scarab is one of my favs from Zoologist. I enjoyed reading about your favorites, and am adding a few to my wishlist. If lucky, I’d choose Vetiver Bourbon or L’Eau des Immortels. Mich USA

  • Great list and I love the royal tobacco from Amouage. Der Duft sounds like a cool company and I would like to go to a happy place. What got me excited was that Michelyn talks about Parfum d’Empire as being bold and not like any other Vetiver.
    That would be my choice

  • An amazing summary. Loved the article. Definitely agree about the access, but it makes things that much more interesting! Personal tastes are personal tastes after all. Had to look up what Kyphi was. I suppose that would expain the myrrh! A great description from Ermano. I know a lot of people that had that same expectation for Cow too. Amazing paragraph on L’eau des Immortels. Seems like quite a few goodies this year. Would love to try Thyina since Michelyn made it sound so comforting and certainly high praise for Royal Tobacco (some would say that the celebrated era of Chris Chong is woefully over); but that description of Vetiver Bourbon was something else. Honestly didn’t know that bourbon was a strain of vetiver. And choosing to round it with iris and clove just sounds divine. There may have been a time when I would’ve ran from such an ostensibly bold creation, but that time has long since passed. I say bring on the kaleidoscope of nature! Vetiver Bourbon would be my pick. Yet to try LAP’s Le Potager collection! Canada.

Ps, I wonder if Ermano could expound a bit on the “downgrade” effect? I’m very curious…

  • Always a treat to read the Best of Scent list ; to have COGNOSCENTI No.44 Fire and Rain included in the Top 25 is a special honor. Thank you Michelyn for the nod and for diving deep into so many fragrances all year long. Really curious to smell Royal Tobacco now that it is your fave of all time. The list of fragrances to smell always starts with your Best of Scent for the year. thanks again. oh and if I get picked any of the bottles would be a treat. USA

So many suggestions I’ve never heard of. As someone who has just started diving into the world of niche and indie perfumes, I’m excited to try out the suggestions listed here. I’m from NJ, and I’d like to try Fragments. Thanks for the great reviews.

  • And again an incredible review by Michelyn and Ermano with new perfumes.
There are few familiar perfume houses like Amouage, L’Artisan which I love, but the rest are completely new to me.
Will definitely need to check out Voyages Imaginaires, Thomas de Monaco, Azman.
I am intrigued by Azman Killer Vavoom- plum, dark chocolate and flowers, oakmoss will be amazing together.
Would like to win a perfume from FRAGMENTS by NVC or French Flower.
    USA

  • It really shows how much work you all put into this. I am familiar Amouage, Matiere Premiere, Masque Milano (own a botle of Russian Tea) and Parfum d’ empire. I guess my favorite based on the descriptions are matiere Premiere, FRAGMENTS Thyrina and Voyages Imaginaires. I live in the EU.

  • The CaFleureBon’s best of lists are my favorite way to end every year! Both of your descriptions of your best of are impeccable. Michelyn, we need to read more of your writing. 🙂 Remember readers there are links on the home page of CaFleureBon where you can order samples or whatever your heart delights. I would love Vetiver Bourbon, and I am intrigued by this take on Vetiver.
    I am in the USA.

  • It must be fun and educational to be surrounded by Ermano and Michelyn while reviewing fragrances for a season, or year.
The level of knowledge of both is amazing.

From all the ones listen, I have only smell Amouage Royal Tobacco, which is, and I agreed, it’s also my favorite from that house.

From Ermano’s list, Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon is an interesting one to me. I love bourbon as a drink and I don’t have that note on any fragrance I own, and Vetiver is something Ano long ago I started to appreciate.

From Michelyn’s list, Fragments by NVC Thyina with sandalwood and lavander, already caught my eyes.

Great work done, ÇaFleureBon, and happy 2023 to all of you.

    From Massachusetts.

  • Kudos to Michelyn and Ermano and the entire CaFleureBon team for compiling such a detailed and fun list. It took a lot of work which so trust was mostly enjoyable! I see quite a few selections that are on my sample list including; Lost in Roses, Cow, Nemus and White Whale. I would be delighted to win any of the following; French Flower, L’Eau des Immortels or Nemus. MD, USA

  • This year, for me, was a bit harder. I did not have many opportunities to test and enjoy fragrances. But I did what I could and from what I have tested I really liked Acrasia by Beaufort (not mentioned on editors’ lists) – dark, smoky, gothic (Wednesday-vibe if I were to use movie metaphor) incense-rose scent. From editors’ selections I have only ested Sacred Crab and Cow and, honestly, I wasn’t wowed. But I have high hopes with Thomas de Monaco and Frassai – these I will be testing really soon.
I would like to win: Vetiver Bourbon, French Flower, L’Eau des Immortels, Nemus.
    I am from Poland (EU).

  • “I wear it when I want to wind down from a particularly stressful day, which lately is every day.” Michelyn nailed my year in perfume! All comfort scents all the time. Some depth and complexity, yes please…but also something soothing. I’d love to have a bottle of Thyina. (USA)

  • You both had such thoughtful and well-rounded lists, and featured fragrances I can appreciate for their artistry even if the notes themselves are not my personal taste. I also love so many of the perfumers you named, especially Nathalie Feisthauer, Dominique Ropion, and Cecile Zarokian. I was glad to finally try Royal Tobacco recently, and it is the most perfect tobacco scent I have tried. This year, I hope to try more of L’Artisan Parfumeur’s scents and actually ordered a sample of Molten Ambra (from your HMs) earlier today!

Thank you for this wonderful list. I would especially love to try L’Eau des Immortels. I live in the US, in Illinois. Thank you!

  • Love all of this! Cow is my favorite from this year. Unfortunately I dont have access to any od these . My choice for the giveaway would be Thynia. I live in eu

  • I love your selections! I have not tried everything from the list, but those that I tried are amazing. I can not wait to try the new one from Antonio Alessandria – I am a huge fan of his works, and I have no doubt that the new one is amazing, too.
Also, I love Neela Verlmeire’s works, so it’s so good to see Fragments by NVC in both of the lists.
As for Michelyn’s picks, I am stunned by Eau Coeur, it is one of my best discoveries this year, too. Also, would love to try Royal Tobacco, sounds like something I would love.
I would love to win NVC Thyina.
    Lithuania, EU.

  • Merry Christmas and happy new year!
Thank you for all you do!
I am quite enamored with Sacred Scarab and am looking forward to the attar version next year!
    Thanks from Canada.

  • Thank you for your top tens! Glad so see Sacred Scareb in there. I managed to get a travel spray and love it! Amouage Royal Tobacco & Zoologist Cow are the onkly other ones I have tried so I have a few more to seek out. Would love to add French Flower to the list! In the US

  • Thanks for the reviews Michelyn and Ermano!
I hope you two can meet up again soon and catch up. I haven’t seen some of my friends in 2 years and I am looking forward to having an absolute blast seeing them again this summer!

It’s always an incredible difficult task to shortlist so many great fragrances. I’m gad I’m not in your seat and I’ll just enjoy taking on your recommendations and try them out!

I’m not suprised to see AZMAN in Michelyn’s shortlist. I’ve seen many of their incredible fragrances highlighted here on CaFleurebon and feel a bit embarresed I have not tried them yet. In 2023 I will definitely give this house a try!

Ermano’s choices aren’t bad either! Whilst I’m not a big fan of wearing Zoologist fragrances myself, I do appreciate the craftsmanship of their releases and will have to try more of their offerings. I have not tried Sacred Scarab yet, but as a fan of Middle Eastern style fragrances, the brief introduction sounds incredible promising and I can’t wait to try it!

I would love to win Parfum d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon!

    Greetings from the UK!

  • I thought that these selection were absolutely incredible. I agree with them and I’d for sure recommend these perfumes to my friends and family if they would need any help in deciding what to choose out of the gigantic fragrance market. I would also highly recommend ÇaFleureBon to them. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. I would like to win a 100 ml bottle of French Flower.

  • jonathan VICTORIN says:

There are many interesting scents in Michelyn and Ermano’s list. Those on my wish list: Eau Coeur, Royal Tobacco, White Whale, Figuier Noir, Sacred Scarab, l’Eau des Immortels, Lost in roses and Amado mio.
Personally, I like the work of Marc Antoine Corticchiato, I smelled Vetiver bourbon and Mal aimé at Jovoy and I would like to have the chance to own one of the two. I find that there is sincerity, honesty and frankness that emanates from his creations.
    I live in France, EU

  • Ermano and Michelyn have given me so many fragrances to check out! The only one I’ve actually tried is Sacred Scarab, which definitely belongs on the list. Michelyn’s selections speak more to my taste I think, and I would love to smell the smoky licorice in Royal Tobacco, the herbal angelica of M.Oldavite, and the lavender-coffee combo in Thyina. I relate to Michelyn’s indecisiveness when trying to pick favorites as well! There are a couple on that list I’ve been wanting to try, including Echoes of Silence and EDP20.

If I’m lucky enough to win the giveaway, I’d pick NVC Thyina! I’m in MN, USA.

  • “Ermano lives in Milan and I live in New York City. We haven’t seen each other in three years!!! Often, I am asked is there a difference between how people from different countries judge perfumes? This year there are only two overlaps, but I believe it’s based on access more than anything.”

100% there a difference, and not just a difference, but a HUGE difference between how different people from different countries judge perfumes.Back in 17′ I’ve spent a few months in Milano, and I went to every trendy coffee shop, bar and club , and believe it or, unlike in US and UK , for close to 5 months I never, I repeat never met Italian man , even during Winter months , wearing modern day , dripping sweet gourmand in the vain of Italica by Xerjoff for example. Maybe things changed a bit since then , i don’t know, but also unlike in US and UK the ladies, doesn’t matter of the age , were not found of smelling gourmands on men. Not that i care much , like Michelyn i wear fragrances for my own pleasure only, but i received dozens of questions why do i wear such a sweet perfume, both from men , and ladies. It’s not just Ermano not liking gourmands.
I’ll share my thoughts on the fragrances I know, or want to try starting with Ermano choices:
    Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio
    Must try
    April Aromatics Lost in roses
Lovely but quite fleeting on me
Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu sounds good,
    Balmy, vinous, honeyed and floral
    Zoologist Cow
Like Ermano I was expecting if not full time gourmand, at least lactonic fragrance, quite a surprise
    Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels
    Another must try.
“With exceptional sillage and longevity not usually expected for a natural perfume.”
Bold claim for mostly natural perfume…
Zoologist Sacred Scarab I’ll sample too
Houbigant Figuier Noir , classy fig
    Fragments by NVC Nemus
“I feared about a “downgrade” effect.”
    Exactly my thoughts.
Masque Milano White Whale is literally the hunt for the mythical Moby Dick
    And Michelyn choices:
    Fragments by NVC Thyina
Complex, resinous and kind of sappy, second best from the line in my opinion ,after the awesome Purpureum .
Olivier Durbano M.Oldavite , green, woody and herbal. Arguably the fragrance will the least amount of incense by Olivier Durbano
    Amouage Royal Tobacco
Absolutely gorgeous fragrance, but also a changeling, smells different on different people. On me it’s thick dark scent, with more peru balsam than tobacco, incense, licorice and hefty dose of plum. The plum in Royal Tobacco reminds me of the plum in Plum Japonais by Tom Ford, my all time favorite fragrance
Matière Première French Flower is way too indolic for me
Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur is really good, magnolia , pink pepper, rose with blast of honey in the base ,at least to me .
    L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc
Wait….what?!? Why I was not aware of Tonka Blanc ????
“When Elise and I were at The World Perfumery Conference we learned about a new technology SymTrap® from Symrise”
The technology is actually not new at all, refined and upgraded maybe, yes , but definitely not new. Our beloved Sarah McCartney spoke about such technology being used frequently by the bigger corporations , in much details close to 5 years ago, as a guest during live YouTube event with famous UK fragrance reviewers by the name of “Waft from the Loft” . Video is still available in case someone wonders.
    Azman Killer Vavoom
    “eeny meenie miney mo” situation
I had such wanderings too , to me Killer Vavoom and Majnoon are equally as good.
From Michelyn honorable mentions i like Isabelle Larignon Milky Dragon, Meo Fusciuni Encore du Temps and Maher Olfactive Walking Dream
I have high hopes for L’Eau des Immortels because of all the praises , the fragrance i’d like to win.
Both profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • This is awesome and mouth-watering besides the low budget to have all the perfumes mentioned in the article. Luckily I have the AZMAN collection but my favorite from Azman is MAJNOON. My top priority to buy is Cecile Zarokian’s creation of Amouage Royal Tobacco and Zoologist Sacred Scarab (possibly Attar) by Sultan Pasha.
Thanks for the generosity, count me in, please. My choice, if I win, is a 50 ml bottle of Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon.
    Pakistan

  • Theenzofdaworld says:

That Vetiver Bourbon sounds fantastic – both of my favorite notes right in the title!! The Orris and Ambrette sound like they’d make for a great support system to the headliner notes. Ship to Pittsburgh PA, crossing my fingers!!!

  • I wish I had access to fragrances such as the ones presented in this article. Your articles are the next best thing. I would love French Flower, I have become a tuberose lover and a fan of Guichard’s work, quite a few of his creations have found their way in my collection.

  • Amado Mio seems like an interesting tobacco rose composition with honey note, too. Zoologist Cow seems like it defied everyone’s expectations of being a lactonic fragrances and is instead a green floral. Amouage Royal Tobacco has received quite a high praise and I am eager to try it. My choices for this draw are

    Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon
    Matière Première French Flower

    I am in US.

  • I would love to win Vetiver Bourbon from Parfum d’Empire. I remember with great pleasure how I was offered a sample bag of all the available Parfum d’Empire by a sales associate back in 2010 or 2011. Every single one of them had something good going on – enough to satisfy every demand. I am curious how the house evolved over the years, as I did not keep touch with their latest releases. I actually forgot about Parfum d’Empire, but once in a while I enter this blog and I see that they have a new launch. Thanks for keeping me updated!

  • Merry Christmas to all and congratulations for a new great post.
In both Tops, Ermano’s and Mychelin’s, I find perfumes that I LOVE and agree would be some of the Best 2022 releases and another that unfortunately I had no opportunity to try yet.
In Ermano’s selection I would choose of course the Last April Aromatic releases, one of my Favourite houses, and Cow by Zoologist.
From the Mychelin’s top I would like to mention the Miguel Mato’s perfume for Azman, a real bomb gem which males understand why he has choose Azman as BEST independent niche firma, and Privilege by Der Duft, one of my Favourite Germán houses.
As for Mychelin’s special mentions… I would do the same! It is too difficult for me to decide when you need to choose between such a wide selection of pieces of art released in 2022.
I am posting from Spain and would like to win Thyina by Your choice of fragments (Neela Vermeire)

  • I’m so excited that niche and independent perfumers made such an impressive showing this year. I gravitate to niche perfumery and added a bunch of fragrances to my to-try list as I read through your top 10’s. Zoologist’s Cow holds the best memory for me. I received a sample when it first came out. I happened to open it while my sister and her two young boys were visiting. We all took turns smelling the perfume and giving our thoughts. It was a hit among everyone!

Of the fragrances listed in the giveaway, I think L’Eau des Immortels is my choice (it was hard to decide between Voyage Imaginaires and Neela Vermeire). I live in Indiana.

  • Wow! To recap all of these new fragrances must have been daunting! Thank you for doing it though. It’s like a condensed version for your readers. I know I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Cow was a favorite of mine this year, I was pleasantly surprised too,Michelyn and Ermano! The Matiere Premiere brand was an exciting new discovery for me as well. Radical Rose took my breath away.

This coming year’s fragrant resolution is to try a few all natural brands since that is an area of perfumery I’ve not researched before. April Aromatics is a name I’ve seen mentioned several times so they will certainly be part of my discovery.

As for this year, French Flower is next on my list to try from Matiere Premiere so that’s what I would choose for the giveaway.

Thanks to you and Matiere Premiere for the chance. In the USA.

  • Since I have discovered your site at the beginning of 2022, I’ve been a daily reader and an avid explorer of the world of artisan perfumes. I’ve purchased a few ( more than 6, let’s say) based on your alluring stories. It looks like 2 of them are amongst the top ten in Michelyn’s list for 2022!!!
Azman House is absolutely my favorite by the way, and I would blindly buy anything from them!

I’d like to win Voyage Imaginaires’ L’Eau des Immortels. I live in Portugal, EU

Thank you for your generosity and inspiration.

  • This is the best overview ever. So many I want to explore. I am glad Michelyn put Puredistance MV2Q on the list as it is something I want to test. I did try White Whale and sorry to say did not like it. My taste is more in line with Michelyn as I LOVE Royal Tobacco. Eau Couer sounds like it would be great for date night with my man .NVC Thyina and Voyages Imaginaire would be my top choices.

  • Wonderful list- it’s so helpful to see all the recommendations like this. With the large number of perfumes coming across your noses all year, this is the sure way to see the best of the best. I’ve read about many of these here on the blog or in other reviews. I am especially intrigued by Thyina, L’eau des Immortels, M.Oldavite, Killer Vavoom, and Waking Dream. I would be thrilled to win either Thyina or L’ea des Immortels. In Texas, US.

  • Over the course of last year, Cafleurebon has reviewed or talked about many of these perfumes so the lists were not very surprising. We’re I to win this generous draw, I will go with French Flower because of the twists on tuberose in it. Not sure if I will love it, but I am mighty curious about this perfume. Maher Olfactive and St. Clair in honorable mentions, along with most others, were expected, though I haven’t tried their latest creations. Thanks for all the work done in compiling these lists. From USA.

  • wandering_nose says:

What a great year for perfumes 2022 has been! Happy to be able to read such a fantastic and inspiring compilation from Michelyn and Ermano. Azman’s Killer Vavoom speaks to me in capital letters, I know I would love it as much as Michelyn does. Zoologist’s Cow sounds intriguing, happy to see it among Ermano’s picks. L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc shows that modern perfumery is going in the best possible direction by searching new ways to be sustainable while surprising with new creative ideas. I feel Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur is bound to be amazing with its seductive power. While Whale sounds special for an ambergris lover and I appreciate the stories behind Masque Milano’s creations. I have ot been able to experience any of the honorable mentions but the range seems wide and seeing Aftelier Perfumes, DSH Perfumes, Sarah Horowitz Parfums, Christele Jacquemin or April Aromatics on Michelyn’s list I know we are talking masterpiece level fragrances. My pick would be L’Eau des Immortels – I feel my view on it would overlap with Michelyn and Ermano’s. Thank you from the EU

  • “Often, I am asked is there a difference between how people from different countries judge perfumes?”

I don’t know about Italy, and specifically Milan , but I can tell there’s a difference between how people from Spain and USA judge perfumes. I don’t think the access is the only factor , style of perfumery is way more important. Most men in Spain, if they are not heavily into fragrances, do buy fresh, aromatic, woody, spicy fragrances, chypres too . For the most part the fragrance needs to be loud, with nice trail , but unlike in USA it’s not rare ,but uncommon to detect sweet fragrance on a men.
    Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio
Like I said in Part1 , Antonio fragrances do feel nostalgic and lively at thesametime, like suitcases filled with memories. Gattopardo I own , Amado Mio is in my wish list now
April Aromatics Lost in roses, sensual rose
Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu sounds good,
Balmy honeyed and made by famous perfumer
Zoologist Cow , no milk but green floral
Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels , Emmanuelle Varron said it smells like opera in Paris , but I’m more into jazz clubs , and live music events , L’Eau des Immortels checks all the boxes for one special artisanal fragrance suited for such occasions . Good performance is a bonus
Zoologist Sacred Scarab , balsamic with aldehydes
Houbigant Figuier Noir fig for grown-ups
Fragments by NVC Nemus from Ermano , and Thyina from Michelyn ,top quality ingredients fragrances , created by one of the best perfumers out there , disign , anesthetics , positive vibe all combined is certain recipe for success. I still need to try Fragments by NVC collection
Frassaï Victoria , classy tuberose and oud
Masque Milano White Whale Grandpa used to love deep sea fishing, and took me to a lot of trips with him. I remember learning about Moby Dick from him .
Olivier Durbano M.Oldavite woody, herbal and green
Amouage Royal Tobacco hmmm Michelyn favorite from Amouage , in wish list.
Matière Première French Flower is heady floral
Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur glamourous and sexy
Der Duft Privilege , green fruity and woody
Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato)
Classy and versatile Italian cologne, Saluté i ordered because of Ida Meister review here , on Cafleurebon.
L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc unique gourmand, made with the help of SymTrap technology
Azman Killer Vavoom , decadent chocolate and plum perfume for grown-ups
From all honorable mentions I’d like to sample Walking Dream and Encore du Temps
Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels I would like to win
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Thank You for one more wonderful review, I enjoyed reading the 1st part. You made a great job listing the top 10 fragrances – in perfumery world it is too difficult to filter out as there are too many masterpieces and each of them create us different emotions and are incomparable.
In Ermano‘s list I saw Houbigant Figuier Noir and was surprised – this creation is adorable and this is one of my most beloved brands – classy, elegant and timeless. Also I was pleased by seeing Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu in this list, as it is created by Dominique Ropion – even dust turns to gold in his hands. Ermano‘s choices also inspired me to discover more of Zoologist brand‘s creations.
I am happy that almost all of Michelyn‘s top fragrances are well known to me, excluding Fragments by NVC. I think Thomas de Monaco‘s Eau Coeur was one of the biggest discoveries this year, this is the fragrance that contains really interesting and exceptional combination of notes (Raw Gold is another gem that I adore). Matiere Premiere and L‘Artisan Parfumeur creations are bright and gentle at the same time. Unfortunately, I was slightly disappointed with Royal Tobacco by Amouage, of course it is an exceptional creation by my beloved immensely talented perfumer Cecile Zarokian, but this time I skip this one as tobacco in the fragrance is too aggressive for my emotional state right now. I will try it again in a month. But I am happy to see the novelty of Parfums D‘Empire in the list.
Wonderful to see Puredistance MV2Q in honorable mentions from Michelyn – this creation was well-considered and very matching to brand‘s ideology. Puredistance has got it‘s unique and classy style.
I would like to win Thyina Fragments by NVC, their fragrances are unknown to me and Thyina‘s notes sound lovely and intriguing.
    I live in Lithuania, EU.

  • Thank you Michelyn and Ermano for this great article. For me it felt like a walk in a perfumery exposition and since I live in East Europe I don’t get many of those. You made me feel like a tourist in Milano sniffing and trying all this amazing scents and having small talks with other perfume lovers. At the end of the day I would have Zoologist Sacred Scarab (Sultan Pasha) on one half, Amouage Royal Tobacco on the other half and Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels all over (my choice for the draw).
Happy holidays everyone and hugs from Romania

  • Oh no! I think my Huge Long comment was lost… lol
I’m not sure I can retype it!
I’ll just say that I Adore these selections (including the Honorable Mentions) and I would be Thrilled to win Any of them! ❤️❤️ USA
I promise my original comment was very high quality (it just didn’t post for some reason ).

  • After reading the first part, I was very excited to read this article about Michelyn’s and Ermano’s top ten fragrances of 2022.

I loved reading about Ermano’s top ten fragrances of the year. Although I’ve yet to try it, Amado Mio sounds stunning with notes of rose, tobacco, bran, and woods.

I enjoy various creations from April Aromatics but I have not tried Lost in Roses. I love rose, so I am sure it’s beautiful.

Myrrh is one of my all-time favorite notes, so Le Die Bleu is very appealing to me. I love Ermano’s comments that it’s balmy, honeyed, and floral; I can imagine it is quite sacred smelling.

Zoologist Cow was one of my favorite releases of 2022 and I’m not surprised to see it on the list.

I really enjoy immortelle and Voyages Imaginaries’ newest creation sounds amazing. I’m glad to know that it has exceptional sillage and longevity even though it’s natural.

I am not surprised to see a second Zoologist fragrance on the list. Sacred Scarab appealed to me since I learned of it.

I agree with Ermano that fig is quite overused in perfumery. I have not tried Houbigant Figuier Noir, but it’s nice to know that this simple fragrance is not boring.

The three Fragments by NVC were intriguing releases. Although I’m generally not a big fan of strong citrus, I have no doubt that Nemus is a high-quality fragrance.

Frassai has many great offerings. Victoria sounds beautiful with its notes of tuberose and oud.

I enjoy various fragrances from Masque Milano. White Whale sounds perfect for summer with its strong ambergris note.

Michelyn’s top eleven fragrances were great choices. While I haven’t tried Thyina, it sounds like a must-try for me based on Michelyn’s comments. If it helps her relax after a stressful day, I may need to try it ASAP!

M.Oldavite also sounds quite meditative and a perfect stress-reducing fragrance. I love transformative fragrances and Palo Santo is so calming.

If Royal Tobacco is Michelyn’s favorite Amouage fragrance of all time, as well as being the best tobacco fragrance of the past decade, I will have to add it to my test list. Amouage is one of my favorite houses but I wasn’t in a rush to try Royal Tobacco. After reading Michelyn’s comments, it’s going straight to the front of my test list.

I imagine French Flower is quite elegant with its prominent note of tuberose. Like Michelyn, I also tend to stay away from indolic florals; therefore, it’s good to know this tuberose is not.

After reading Michelyn’s comments about Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur in the first part, I decided it needed to be added to my test list. Anything described as being “heart stopping beautiful” must be excellent.

I enjoyed reading Michelyn’s comments about Der Duft Privilege. I don’t generally wear aquatics, but I do enjoy mineral facets in fragrances.

Vetiver Bourbon sounds like an interesting fragrance. I enjoy vetiver but it’s not one of my favorite notes. However, the other notes of ambrette, cloves, and iris sound beautiful. It does sound like a healing fragrance.

L’Artisan is one of my favorite houses, but I have to admit that I wasn’t too excited about the Le Potager Collection. While I love eating vegetables, I don’t really care for the aroma of most of them (with the exception of a few). However, after reading Michelyn’s comments that Tonka Blanc is warm, cozy, and creamy, I have completely changed my mind. Tonka Blanc sounds like a must-try fragrance for me; it has gone straight to my test list.

I am embarrassed to admit I still haven’t tried Killer Vavoom, but it sounds right up my alley. Dark chocolate, plum, heady florals, and orris all sound amazing.

Michelyn’s honorable mentions were all excellent choices. While I haven’t tested all of them, some of my favorite houses were included in her picks, such as DSH and Solstice Scents. Boheme Confection and Milky Dragon have been on my radar since their releases. Solstice Scents had some of my favorite releases of the year, as well.

It’s hard to choose just one fragrance from the beautiful selection, but if I had to pick one, I would love the opportunity to own Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels. They all sound great though!

Thank you, Michelyn and Ermano, for such a great recap of the best 2022 fragrances. Thank you to all four houses for their generous giveaways. I am located in the USA.

  • I am new to the scent scene so I’ll try and make this comment worthy of a winning comment. Out of all these fragrances I’ve only put my nose on Amouage Royal Tobacco. I was at Neiman shopping for my family and was browsing the fragrance section sense I’m just now getting into the scene. I put my nose on everything you can think of that they carry. And for some reason I kept coming back to Naxos, Royal tobacco, and Rose Incense. I actually enjoyed Royal Tobacco a bit but I know I needed more time to see how it progressed on my skin. I was already sold with Naxos. My girlfriend didn’t quite like Royal Tobacco, but I just knew I had to get my hands on it. It’s for sure something I can have as my staple to my collection which isn’t big at all. Maybe 7. It’s a start. But I’m thankful for the opportunity to win this. I may not be as experienced as everyone else or smelled a lot of things but we all have our journey so I’m happy where I’m at. I live in PA USA. Royal Tobacco would be PERFECT for the weather we’re having here at the moment

  • What a list!! Obviously a good year in fragrance. So many of these I haven’t smelled. Happy I have read this article before I head off to my local shop today. Sadly they don’t carry many of these lines, but I will get my nose on White Whale today and Encore De Temps. Ermano paints a pretty picture of Cow, I will add that to my sample list to order. Thanks for the chance. I’d love to win French Flowers. USA.

  • I am a sucker for best-of-the-year lists and celebrating all the sparks of an ending era. As usual, Ermano and Michelyn did a great job highlighting the gems of 2022. It is s not a job for wavering ones, especially considering how many fragrances have been released this year. 🙂

I enjoy reading about a few well-known perfume houses and getting acquainted with fragrances from less familiar – at least to me – houses. There are some that I was already very passionate about when reading the first review on Cafleurebon (Zoologist Sacred Scarab, Masque Milano White Whale, etc.). Michelyn’s choices have been more aligned with my »current« list of fragrances to sample as is French Flower – I am a huge Matiere Premiere lover and Royal Tobacco. There is a lot of hype about the last one, but based on Michelyn’s short review seems to be justifiable. The Cafleurebon reviews also catapulted the house of Azman into the »must- get- familiar- with«.
From Ermano’s picks, I am drawn to the concept of Fragments by NVC. Thyina seems up to my alley, but Nemus and Purpureum are also calling my name.
If I am lucky, I would like to win Thyinga Fragments by NVC.

    Holiday greetings from Slovenia (EU).

  • Oh boy, its been a fantastic year for perfumery and many gems were created this year. I loved both Mychelin and Ermanos list because they collect what is good in perfumery nowadays.
My favorites one from this year was Royal Tobbaco from Amouage, such a great fragrance! I also love Azman Killer Vavoom.
I think the list is amazing because you have everything you need for every ocassion and they are all amazing fragrance.
I would love to win L’Eau des Immortels by Voyage Imaginaires.
    USA here.

  • “Often, I am asked is there a difference between how people from different countries judge perfumes?”

If it’s not some small indie brand , you can buy fragrances from all over the world. Location, climate, temperatures, traditions , type of fragrances are what matters most i think. People from US, UK ,EU and Middle East often like , and but different fragrances from the same brands. Pissara said she has four different bestsellers in US , UK , EU and the Middle East.

Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio .If Amado Mio is on the same level as Gattopardo , I’ll buy it. Tobacco, honey and raspberries , where is my sample? I also like Fleurs et Flammes, and Fara
April Aromatics Lost in roses, joyful rose

Zoologist Cow , milk is not there , but the grass is

Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels , so there’s also boozy facets too,I’m sold

Zoologist Sacred Scarab I’ll have to try because of the heady wines and the resins

Houbigant Figuier Noir you can’t go wrong with good fig fragrance

Fragments by NVC Nemus and Thyina i don’t know yet, I’ll go to Neela Vermeire website, I presume there’s a sample set available

Masque Milano White Whale and Moby Dick? Talking about blasts from the past.Mysterious marine , and magically smoky

    Olivier Durbano M.Oldavite perfume talisman??

Amouage Royal Tobacco , my favorite brand and upscale fragrance. In Royal Tobacco i see some strong One Thousand and One Nights , and Scheherazade connections. The resinous base, and the plum, together with the tobacco are the other most interesting aspects of the fragrance. To me the unexpected sweetness comes more from the plum, than the liquorice My favorite Amouage is still Jubilation XXV , but Royal Tobacco is up there too .

Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur is the scent of seduction for Michelyn. Quite sexy i guess

Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato) .I knew Parfum d’Empire name for many years, and after reading Ida’s lovely review of Saluté , I decided to sample the whole range.
I don’t know Vetiver Bourbon, since it was released after I ordered the sample set the vetiver , playing with both lightness and darkness.Out of all Parfum d’Empire samples , Wazamba i like the most

L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc SymTrap technology and gourmand together

AZMAN Killer Vavoom , the florals are not so noticeable, the prunes and chocolate are , with strong boozy feel.

Let’s see the honorable mentions Maher Olfactive ,Walking Dream , Isabelle Larignon Milky Dragon and Encore du Temps

Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels I’d love to win
Thank you for the time , and effort, and for the opportunity

  • This terrific list covers a lot of stylistic ground—rose and tobacco perfumes, two new Zoologist releases, natural perfumes, and big thematic designs like White Wale and M.Oldavite. As usual, I haven’t tried a single perfume on this list, though I recall reading your earlier coverage on many of them. Now I want to try a few of these more than ever; Zoologist Sacred Scarab, Masque Milano White Whale, Amouage Royal Tobacco, and Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon all stand out to me. I also liked your runner ups; I’ve tried a few of these and both Cognoscenti Fire and Rain (hyper realistic and dynamic progression) and Molten Ambra (smoldering in its drydown) are real knockouts.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I’d love to win any of the prizes listed, but if I had to choose, I’d go with the Parfum d’Empire 50 ml bottle of Vetiver Bourbon. Thanks and Happy New Year!

  • What a wonderful review, with so many interesting and already partially tried fragrances.
The Azman brand is extraordinarily glamorous and they are waiting for their rose/oud fragrance (Two Minutes After The kiss). I love the Amouage brand, and I tried their Royal Tobacco, but it seems to me very strong in the licorice note.
I would like to participate for Matiere Premier – French Flower, Neela Vermeire Nemus and Vetiver Bourbon by Parfum d’Empire.
    Riccardo, Italy EU

  • Beautiful selections! It’s always a pleasure to read your honest and authentic description! So many I want to explore and any of these scents would be a dream to own but I am most curious about Vetiver Bourbon by Parfum d’Empire and Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels. You made these sound amazingly beautiful. I love Immortelle, It’s therapeutic properties are on another level. Thank you!

  • I enjoyed seeing a lot of houses that I have not tried yet in honorable mentions like Maher Olfactive, DSH perfumes, April Aromatics and Aftelier Perfumes. Thank you for curating this lists of favorites. These lists help me narrow down my wishlists. I need the following immediately- lost in roses, sacred scarab, royal tobacco , killer Vavoom and French flower.
If I win, I would love french flower by Matiere Premiere. Love to experience this fragrance based on the description of elegant , ginger and tea leaf oil adding a modern twist.
    Greetings from Maryland, US.

  • People from different countries judge perfumes differently, and that’s a fact. It’s person to person of course, but also the weather plays major factor , traditions . Some styles of perfumery are liked in some parts of the world, and not so much in others.

    -Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio
My favorite Antonio Alessandria Parfums is Noir Obscure
, it’s boozy and overly spicy in a good way opening , and in the base leather is pretty prominent, there’s fruity sweetness too. It’s kind of Gothic, incense is so well done.
I’d love to compare it to Amado Mio, must sniff like Ermano said.
-April Aromatics Lost in roses rosy kaleidoscope
-Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu (Dominique Ropion:)
    Heady concoction
-Zoologist Cow is my personal disappointment of the year, the sage and milk accords do clash badly . Sacred Scarab is significantly better, I even bought 10ml travel sprayer
    -Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels
Fragrances like Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels i like , is artistic natural fragrance, having both fougere and aromatic features.
-Zoologist Sacred Scarab Uplifting fragrance, I bought 10ml travel sprayer
-Houbigant Figuier Noir, if it comes from Houbigant I expect certain level of maturity
    -Fragments by NVC
I hope the collection will be on pair with Mohur, Trayee and Bombay Bling quality.
    -Masque Milano White Whale
In my possession is Tango Masque Milano = Holidays and festive season fragrance.
White Whale is very different, marine and woody fragrance for a free spirited person.
-Olivier Durbano M.Oldavite , completely new brand to me
    -Amouage Royal Tobacco
There’s a different story behind each and every Amouage fragrance, and i think the brand is loved by most Cafleurebon contributors.
Frankincense, tobacco , resins , and mild sweetness, Royal Tobacco is upscale nighttime fragrance , with Middle Eastern , but also Cuban flavor. I don’t smell liquorice through.
-Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur Michelyn seduction in a bottle
    – Matière Première French Flower of its not indolic,I’ll have to try it
-Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato)
Vetiver Bourbon spicy, woody and musky characteristics are appealing to me.I do own Ambre Russe, and Aziyadé .
-L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc , the fusion of modern technology and gourmand in a bottle
-AZMAN Killer Vavoom Succulent cocktail of chocolate, plum and iris
From the honorable mentions i like Maher Olfactive Walking Dream , Isabelle Larignon Milky Dragon i actually bought
Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels would be great
Thank you again Michelyn, Ermano and all the brands
    USA

  • Great review and ranking. I do agree with several of them, like for example Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur, which I sampled recently, and French Flower from Matiere Premiere. This brand, in my opinion, is one of the most interesting in the last here
Would love to enter for French Flower and Vetiver Bourbon!
    Claudia, Italy

  • Frassaï Victoria Was this year discovery and one of the perfumes I brought from Esxence! I was not familiar with this brand before this year and I truly believe that it’s amazing! Also, glad to see that I added Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu. Not many people know about these three creations from Astier de Villatte although I think they are really original (my favorite is les nuits). I live in France, EU and would love to win L’eau des immortels.

  • You can never go wrong with Amouage! I want to try it soooo bad! From this list I had a chance to smell Der Duft Privilege – I’m not that much into green fragrances but this one stole my heart! From this list I need to try Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur – notes sound so great and so “me”. You just read them, taking a look at the bootle and you can smell this sexiness… Gotta be a masterpiece! And wow what a prize to win! L’EAU DES IMMORTELS – i need to have that! If I don’t win I’ll buy it anyway 🙂 Poland, EU

  • This was a fascinating read. I only learnt about Ca Fleure Bon this year and I feel like every time I read a review it opens a door for a small, intricate world. Although I knew of some brands in this list such as Matiere Premiere, L’Artisan Parfumeur or Amouage, I’d only tried out Zoologist’s Cow from the list and quickly became one of my favorites from the brand.
I would love to enter the draw for L’Eau des Immortels from Spain (EU). The original review stuck in my brain so long, that losing its draw felt like a little heartbeat. Immortelle is one of my favorite herbal notes and Voysge Imaginaires’ all natural interpretation seems like the perfect way to do it justice.

  • Another excellent end of year list – these are such a treat to read! I wish I could say I had tried more of the perfumes mentioned to give comparative notes, but I am so happy to see a number of deserving names familiar to me show up on this list, like April Aromatics and Sultan Pasha, and others in the honorable mentions like DSH Perfumes and St. Claire Scents.

If selected for this generous giveaway, I’d love to try L’Eau des Immortels, French Flower, Vetiver Bourbon, or Thyina. Best wishes from the US!

  • Regis Monkton says:

Michelyn’s and Ermano’s list of fragrances is helpful to me because I’m always adding to my list of fragrances to sample. Also, their list of fragrances is an interesting way of looking back on this year in regards to perfumery. I’d like to win Parfum d’Empire “Vetiver Bourbon”. I live in the U.S.A.

  • wallygator88 says:

    Thanks for the nice lists!

I would love to win either Vetiver Bourbon, Nemus or Thyina.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I haven’t had the pleasure of smelling many of the perfumes you’ve chosen, but some of your descriptions certainly pique my interest! April Aromatics Lost in Roses sounds lovely, as rose scents are a treat. Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu must be an amazing interpretation of the legendary Kyphi. I am most interested in Voyages Imaginaires L’eau des Immortels because my favorite brand is Annick Goutal and I’ve yet to smell her daughter’s natural house’s creations. A natural fragrance in a chypre style with the quintessentially French ingredient of immortelle sounds amazing! Houbigant Figuier Noir sounds most welcome as a unique interpretation of fig. Lastly, Michelyn’s recommendation of Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur sounded so intriguing, I had to go back and read more details in her previous post!

I live in CT in the U.S. and if I had the great fortune to win, I would love the offering by Voyages Imaginaires: L’eau des Immortels. Many thanks!

  • Because of my girlfriend migraine we had to stay at home , she already went to bed, so I’ll eat some Chocolate Ganache Cake, with Macerated Plums, and spend some time with Cafleurebon contributors, and they’re takes of the 22′ .
I do believe that there’s differences between how people judge perfumes depending on where they are located. As a Pastry Chef, and gourmand lover , I can tell USA is the most gourmand friendly country I’ve been to.
☆ Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio (Antonio Alessandria):
Nuit Rouge I’ve sampled , smells like Rhubarb Grapefruit Custard Cake. How about Honey and Stem Ginger Traybake Cake, with slightly candied raspberries on top ,and some woody touch?
Nuit Rouge bottle, and Amado Mio sample is what I need right now
☆ April Aromatics Lost in roses (Tanja Bochnig):
    Romantic elegance
☆ Astier de Villatte Le Dieu Bleu (Dominique Ropion:)
Balmy honeyed and floral i like
    ☆ Zoologist Cow (Nathalie Feisthauer):
Not sure what to think of Cow , or because of Bee and Camel my expectations were too high?
☆ Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels (Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal):
Vacation in Normandy, coffee shops , leather sofas, cozy atmosphere and nice praline desserts.
☆ Zoologist Sacred Scarab (Sultan Pasha):
    Resinous, fruity and boozy
☆ Houbigant Figuier Noir (Céline Ellena):
I can’t get bored by a fig fragrance
☆ Fragments by NVC Nemus (Bertrand Duchaufour):
I’m not sure what’s my favorite Neela Vermeire Creations fragrance is Bombay Bling, Mohur Extrait or Trayee , but I’m sure i need to get my hands on Nemus, Thyina and especially Purpureum
    ☆ Frassaï Victoria (Irina Burlakova):
Tuberose and oud, and modern beauty
☆ Masque Milano White Whale (Christian Alori):
Everything about it reminds me of my dream one day to have my own boat restaurant….
☆ Olivier Durbano M.Oldavite (Olivier Durbano):
    Spiritual journey
    Amouage Royal Tobacco (Cecile Zarokian):
☆ Amouage Royal Tobacco (Cecile Zarokian)
Amouage Royal Tobacco makes me think of making Licorice Cake, with Macerated Plums and Walnuts, and later on sharing it with friends, while all smoking some top of the line Cuban cigarettes.
Decadent tobacco fragrance , I still slightly prefer Jubilation XXV
☆ Matière Première French Flower (Aurelien Guichard)
    Not so indolic tuberore
☆ Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur (Maurus Bachman):
I was expecting to be good, but heart stopping?
☆ Der Duft Privilege (Nathalie Feisthauer):
    Melange of fruits, and woods
    ☆Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato):
AZIYADE is awesome, I wonder what Marc-Antoine Corticchiato cooked with Vétiver Bourbon , formal occasions vetiver if I have to guess.
☆ L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc (Alexandra Carlin):
I’d add the whole L’Artisan Parfumeur Le Potager line to my personal disappointments . I adore Noir Exquis and Traversee du Bosphore , my kitchen and garden, but I don’t want to smell like a squashed pea , just sliced beetroot or fennel. The artisanal approach is present, and appreciated, but despite being a Chef , when I’m on a walk with my girlfriend for example, I definitely don’t want to smell like just sliced Fennel – Cédrat Céruse , or cornflour.
    ☆Azman Killer Vavoom (Miguel Matos):
AZMAN Majnoon smells like Zwetschgendatschi , the famous German Plum Cake, with a big cup of 100% Arabica made espresso. I so need to get my hands on the whole range of fragrances.
Killer Vavoom actually kind of reminds me of the cake I’m eating at the moment, Chocolate Ganache Cake, with Macerated Plums
Milky Dragon, Encore du Temps, For the Scent of It Molten Ambra and Walking Dream are the honorable mentions I’d like to try.
I’ll be happy to win Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels
Appreciate Michelyn and Ermano 2nd fine work, and the giveaway campaign
    USA

  • Fantastic article Ermano and Michelyn! . I thought Ermano’s choice of Zoologist Sacred Scarab by Sultan Pasha is a great one – it’s one of my favorite of the year with it’s iridescent and luminescent beauty and it’s inspiration that verges on the mythical. I love zoologist and I love Sultan Pasha and their collaboration does not disappoint!

I also really liked Michelyn’s choice of Amouage Royal Tobacco. I agree with her that the contrast of hot and cold with the unexpected licorice root note adds depth and sweetness and an untraditional twist to a run of the mill tobacco fragrance.

As for Michelyn’s honorable mentions I love that they are almost all lesser known fragrances without as much hype. I have not tried any of them as of yet, but St. Clair Scents Moving On and Christele Jacquemin’s Echoes of Silence are at the top of my list to try!

I would be thrilled to win any of these but my first choice would be Voyage Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels, 2nd choice would be NVC Thyina and then Nemus, my 3rd choice would be Matière Première French Flower, and my 4th Parfum d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon.

  • For the second day in a row I’ll summarize the amount of pleasing to the eyes, and mind fragrance information
Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio (Antonio Alessandria):
Rusty Vibes is a dream come true if I’m not in a mood, same thing I’m expecting from Amado Mio
Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels (Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal):
Natural Perfumery was not appreciated by most ,is because of the bad performance most of the time. Now houses like Voyages Imaginaires not only smell great , but they found a way to make naturals more potent .
    Zoologist Sacred Scarab (Sultan Pasha):
    Resinous – boozy – sexy
Fragments by NVC Nemus (Bertrand Duchaufour):
Neela is one of a kind person , LOVE Bombay Bling, and Mohur, and I’m pumped for Fragments by NVC
Masque Milano White Whale (Christian Alori):
When I saw White Whale name , I knew the new Masque Milano fragrance is inspired by Moby Dick , so at least i got one part right.
I don’t think i have smelled such scent before , with incense, candles, salt and woods .
Salty fragrances are always a bit animalic to me , that’ both bothersome , and really intriguing at the same time.
    Amouage Royal Tobacco (Cecile Zarokian):
    Favorite Amouage for Michelyn?!?
Amouage fragrances are just different. Even if you like all the notes , In my opinion you should never blind buy , without trying the fragrance you’re interested on skin. Some do smell very different on different people, when sprayed on skin .
I’m not questioning Michelyn of course, but I’d like to spray Royal Tobacco on skin . I wonder if I’ll smell the best tobacco , with resins and upscale spicy sweetness…or something different?
My favorite Amouage is Sunshine Man
Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur (Maurus Bachman):
    Loved by many I see
Parfums d’Empire Vetiver Bourbon (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato):
Parfums d’Empire i have heard, but I never had a chance to try them out.Michelyn is recommending their fragrances quite often
Artisanal vetiver, Vetiver Bourbon sounds like a fragrance i’d enjoy
L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc (Alexandra Carlin):
    Interested
    Azman Killer Vavoom (Miguel Matos):
    Pure seduction in a bottle
If lucky I’d like to win Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels
Thanks for the draw, and Happy New Year
    USA

  • Phillip_Barkley says:

Greetings everyone ,and Happy New York for the never sleeping Paris
Let’s see what Ms Camen and Mr Picco best fragrance experiences for the whole year are
Antonio Alessandria Parfums Amado Mio (Antonio Alessandria):
I’ve never seen Antonio Alessandria fragrances in Paris, I hope there are points of sale because Amado Mio sounds awesome, woods with honey and raspberries. I messaged him on Instagram
Zoologist Cow (Nathalie Feisthauer) / Zoologist Sacred Scarab (Sultan Pasha)
    Not available in Paris
Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels (Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal):
Voyages Imaginaires are available at NoseParis. Other than L’Eau des Immortels Azahar and L’échappée Sauvage are also nice
    Houbigant Figuier Noir (Céline Ellena):
    Chivalry fig
Fragments by NVC Nemus (Bertrand Duchaufour):
I found the address of their boutique
    11bis Rue d’Édimbourg, 75008 Paris
    CAN’T WAIT
    Amouage Royal Tobacco (Cecile Zarokian):
Phenomenal experience, thick dark tobacco with liquorice
Matière Première French Flower (Aurelien Guichard)
Best 2022 Perfumer for me .Matiere Premiere perfumes are really good, Oud Seven and Encens Suave , i just don’t like tuberose
Thomas de Monaco Eau Coeur (Maurus Bachman):
Thomas De Monaco I’ve not seen in Paris , messaged them on Instagram
L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc (Alexandra Carlin):
L’Artisan Parfumeur is one of the oldest niche brands as far as I know, but I don’t like the direction they are heading. Some would disagree, but I think vegetables belong in my fridge, and table . Personally I don’t want to smell like beetroot juice
Tonka Blanc us actually the best from the vegetable collection
    Azman Killer Vavoom (Miguel Matos):
    Deep and rich floral chocolate
Because of the scent profile, and the fact I’ve smelled the fragrance a couple of times, I think I’d enjoy Voyages Imaginaires L’Eau des Immortels the most
Thank you, American living in Paris France

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Ermano’s and Michelyn’s top 10 fragrances of 2022. Ermano’s first two picks Amado Mio and Lost in Roses both sound like fantastic Rose fragrances. Zoologist Cow is a unique grassy green and lactonic fragrance. Figuier Noir was a beautiful Fig Fragrance from Houbigant Paris. Michelyn’s list resonates more with me having more sweeter, gourmand, and tobacco fragrances such as L’Artisan Parfumeur Tonka Blanc, Azman Killer Vavoom, Amouage Royal Tobacco, and NVC Thyina Fragments to name a few. For the honorable mentions I loved Maher Olfactive Waking Dream and For The Scent of It Molten Ambra. I am from the USA and would like to win Voyage Imaginaries L’Eau des Immortels.

  • The only quality winning comment here is EMORANDEIRA, the rest are just a mish mash of words trying to win the giveaway.
