Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée (Jordi Fernandez) + Captivating Leather Giveaway

Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée by Jordi Fernandez

There are hundreds of leather-centric fragrances on the market, so what differentiates Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée created in 2019 by perfumer Jordi Fernandez ?

Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan and Elizabeth Dubicki as Jordan in Baz Luhrmann’s version of The Great Gatsby (still courtesy of Warner Bros).

Elégance Cuirée is an interplay of strength and subtlety. The opening is sparkling and fresh but the perfume transitions to the scents of burnished woods and leather saddles. The leather is rich and resinous, juniper adds a crisp gin and tonic touch as a thread of incense weaves throughout.  If you are a fan of 2013’s movie The Great Gatsby, the character of Jordan, Daisy Buchanan’s best friend, who is sporty and chic would wear Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée a easily as Daisy’s ex-husband the alpha-male Tom Buchanan. -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Top Notes: Bergamot, Juniper Berry; Middle Notes: Gaiac, Patchouli, Olibanum(incense) Base Notes: Amber, Leather, Vetyver

Never knew this brand until today but this bottle is to die for. Leather fragrances (strong ones) do scare me a little as they wouldn’t be my first to go choice (I love my gourmands) but this one has peaked my interest. The bergamot at the top gives it an effervescent opening so I think that may ease the load for me. When Steven said I’d smooth and luxurious, it relieved me a bit. Cheer from NJ, USA.

  • Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée seems like a leather fragrance that would suit The Great Gatsby era gentlemen. Frankincense plays a major role in this leather composition though that does not make it similar to other leather fragrances like Italian Leather. I am in US.

  • Very excited about the gear giveaway never tried anything from this brand but I love leather fragrances and I am super interested to learn more about this brand and this perfume I live in the United States. Thank you.

I heard about the brand and I am glad I can find more reviews here. Jordi is an excellent perfumer and I am a fan of leather fragrances. Michelyn’s introduction peaked my interest and Steven helped put things in perspective. I was confused about the amber note and Steven explained it was not the vanillic amber but rather the dark balsamic one. Also I am glad the leather note here is not suede and does not go the direction of tuscan leather or ombre leather. the Earthy notes also sound great.
I would love to try it.

Beautiful review Redolessence on the offering from this house. Sadly its my very first time hearing about this house, but I’m more than ready to give them a try….As far as the Elegance Cuiree ” LEATHER” need you say anything more. I love fragrances with leather and im pretty sure that this one will be a big hit also. Hope I blessed enough to get my hands on the free bottle….Good luck to all on the drawing……

  • I’m starting to dive deeper into leather fragrances, while I have a few I’m looking to explore more, especially for this upcoming fall/winter season. Michelyn mentioned resinous leather and I love smoky scents. Steven mentioned it’s a mature scent. Sounds like a beautiful fragrance.

  • I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU and I really liked the description of the fragnace in Michelyn’s introduction and how beautifully woody and leathery it is. Steven’s video review was in my opinion mesmerising, very professionally made and informative. I am a IG follower and my nick there is: insztagramekphoto

  • Lavieest forgot to mention I am a follower of
@cafleurebonofficial@redolessence on instagram, please count me twice

  • I like that Michelyn mentioned juniper and incense. Sounds perfect for warmer weather. Steven describes it as “on the dark side” which is right up my alley. Thanks for another wonderful review and draw. Mich USA

  • Rivalite Imperiale Steven referred in the beginning of his video is a fantastic fragrance, smells like Grilled Cinnamon Plums with Sweetened Mascarpone
Elegance Cuiree is a very different , compared to Rivalite Imperiale, smoky amber with incense, gin and soft leather. I do believe I’ve seen The Great Gatsby starting Leonardo di Caprio, but I don’t remember Tom Buchanan role.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • I am curious about your brand.I would you like to have in my collection. Do I chance win for giveaway from you guys?

  • Leather + olibanum? Sounds impressive, my kind of perfume. I like Steven’s review, very nice presentation and love his final verdict on Elégance Cuirée.
Thanks for the opportunity. Kind regards from Mexico.

  • Top Notes: Bergamot, Juniper Berry; Middle Notes: Gaiac, Patchouli, Olibanum(incense) Base Notes: Amber, Leather, Vetyver. A wonderful review by Michelyn describing this as sporty and chic. Steven said this was smooth and luxurious. This is a house that I have got no experience with but I am intrigued by nonetheless. I am fascinated by the notes especially Patchouli, Leather, Frankincense, Amber, Vetiver. This sounds like a magical concoction. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I am glad this does not go in the direction of Tuscan leather or ombre leather. Also the amber is dark and balsamic and not vanillic amber. The notes sound great especially Patchouli, Frankincense and leather in particular. I follow @Cafleurebofficial. Thanks a million from the UK

  • First time hearing about the brand. Incense with woods and leather, dark and not too sweet, elegant…that’s a winner description for me. I guess I should put this under my radar, because it sounds very nice!
Would love a bottle of this! I’m in the EU.

I love how Steven desrobes everything from versatility to longevity. Sounds Like leather MVP. Im from eu

  • Laurentiu says:

I really like the bottle as I find it very neat and elegant. The name of the fragrance fits the bottle. I think it would look great on my shelf. Also the notes sound like a safe bet that you can’t go wrong with.
    Thanks

  • I’m delighted to discover more reviews about Plume Impression and their beautiful fragrance, Elégance Cuirée. As a fan of leather fragrances, I’m particularly interested, especially the perfumer, Jordi is exceptional. Michelyn’s introduction caught my attention to what I can expect, and Steven provided valuable insights. Initially, I was unsure about the amber note, but Steven clarified that it’s not the sweet vanilla-like amber but a rich, balsamic one. I’m also relieved that the leather note doesn’t lean towards suede or the style of Tuscan Leather or Ombre Leather. The inclusion of earthy notes is the most intriguing thing to me. I’m really excited to give it a try.
    Cheers from Florida, USA.

I love sparkly openings and the Great Gatsby era of opulence. Thank you for the review from Slovakia

  • Ken White says:

This is a house that I am unfamiliar with, yet it captivates my interest. I find myself drawn to the enchanting blend of notes it offers, particularly Patchouli, Leather, Frankincense, Amber, and Vetiver. It evokes a sense of a mystical elixir, a fragrance that holds great allure. New Jersey, USA

  • I adore Michelyn’s evocation of The Great Gatsby in association to this perfume, as well as Steven’s guidance in helping us discover it without even smelling it. I liked how, according to his presentation, this was neither a very heavy, smokey burnt leather nor a lightweight one – a classic leather perfume with a certain weight, without overwhelming the wearer. I’m especially intrigued about the bergamot, juniper and vetiver in combination with the leather. Those are some of my favorite notes and they make the concoction sound slightly effervescent.
Living in the EU and following you on instagram as “elmas.zeynep”.

  • Haha love that Great Gatsby reference. Edgerton actually did a fair job in that role. But the addition of juniper is what intrigues me in this one. That gin vibe usually does well as part of a green accord to enhance the sheen of a leather fragrance. I recall Benaim mentioning something about its importance when he was working on the formula for Ralph Lauren’s original Polo – another fragrance worthy of a Gatsby character. Haven’t smelled anything from Plume Impression myself, but from what Steven mentioned about the amber lacking sweetness, methinks it’s more likely a woody amber. In small doses they can certainly lift up darker compositions. Really appreciate the Memo comparison too. I’m a fan of Italian Leather! Overall, very well reviewed and I adore the presentation. Gorgeous bottle that looks like it would accompany a smooth leather perfectly. Ps, don’t be afraid to wear leather perfumes on summer evenings! They can actually make excellent companions to herbal daytime citruses reminiscent of the mediterranean countryside. Happy sniffing 😉 From Canada. Following @donilight!

  • This one sounds really nice. The notes remind me a bit of Atelier Des Ors Cuir Sacre, which also has a prominent vein of incense and aromatics running through it. I was happy to see Michelyn’s comments about the juniper giving it a gin & tonic pop to brighten things up, a facet that I find very necessary in leather fragrances. Diving straight into the leather can be a bit much sometimes. Steven talked a bit about the amber facets here being dry and a bit dark, which is right up my alley as I am growing tired of sweet/vannilic ambers. I’m all about smooth and suede-like leathers and this seems to fit the bill. I would like to give it a shot. I live in NC, USA. My insta handle is thearronq

  • I’m always keeping an eye open for a nice leather fragrance, and this one sounds like it may hit the nail right on the head! Both descriptions mentioned the strong, unisex, Great Gatsby sort of vibe the scent carries. Amber notes often make me a bit wary because of their normally sweet pairings that Steven mentioned. Very interested to see it in a different application! – NYC, USA

  • Suggesting Jordan and Tom Buchanan from the Great Gatsby as people who would wear Elegance Cuiree tells me exactly what kind of fragrance this is. The sparkling opening and the burnished woods and leather with a hint of icy gin and tonic says chic and rich. Steven says it’s a scent for mature individuals with a smooth leather. I’m in the US

Thank you for the introduction of Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée, Michelyn! And thank you for the wonderful video review, Steven!
Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée sounds like a gorgeous perfume really highlighting the versatility of the leather note. I would so love to win this bottle.

  • Steven mentions that this is a leather fragrance with dark ambers, so I was immediately interested. I do like smoky, peppery ambers, but I want dark, resinous amber in a leather fragrance. I appreciate the frame of reference. I have not tried Italian leather, but I’ve tried other Memo leathers and I do like the leather, so this should be good. I appreciate Michelyn referencing a particular article of leather. Leather boots and saddles don’t smell the same. I actually grew up in the countryside so I know how different leathers smell, I can even tell if a leather is brand new or has been used for a decade. Overall this looks like a great composition. I want to try more stuff from Plume impressions, they seem to use unique combinations. I AM following cafleurebon on IG. Cheers from IL, USA!

  • Steven’s review and Michelyn’s introduction of Plume Impression were greatly appreciated. Steven share his thoughts of how luxurious and grown up this leather fragrance wears. Also loved how Michelyn said, “the character Jordan, who is sporty and chic would wear Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée” Following:@cafleurebonoffical from @calicalnurse.
Thank you Plume Impression and Cafleurebon for the giveaway. Greetings from the USA.

  • Elégance Cuirée is a ambery leather fragrance i need to know , blend of rich and resinous leather, gin and tonic, and incense. Not sure about Tom Buchanan character in The Great Gatsby, but I can tell Elégance Cuirée is made for alpha male and females , always feeling good about themselves.
    Thanks for the draw

  • Enjoyed Stephen review of ELÉGANCE CUIRÉE he really explained that it was a dryer leather but really well made.
Michelyn ‘s intro was really nice because I have read the book great Gatsby in high school but saw the movie with DeCaprio.

  • Great introduction by Michelyn and fantastic review by Redolessence.
Plume Impressions seems like a great fragrance house that I definately need to try asap. Elégance Cuirée is surely an enchanting leather based fragrance with the vetiver, wood and amber. I would love to have it in my collection. I love that it is not overly dark fragrance, but something that appeals for most.

  • I live in Canada. I appreciated Michelyn’s introduction as this is not a brand I have ever come across – this is always the site I continue to visit in order to learn more about niche brands and scents. Michelyn described imagery of the great gatsby that came through with the leather notes, and I otherwise would have never heard or encountered Plume Impression And now I am curious to explore more from this brand if I am able to find it locally one day! I enjoyed the review from Steven because it is always fun and engaging, he is very adept in breaking down the perfumes. Thank you for the giveaway!

  • Fun introduction to Elégance Cuirée! I enjoyed Michelyn’s description of the notes, as well as her reference to The Great Gatsby’s Jordan and Tom, which really set the scene for Steven’s review. In his detailed review, Steven helpfully compared Elégance Cuirée to other popular leather perfumes and highlighted its “heavy-hitting,” darker qualities, lack of sweetness, and smooth leather. That sounds great, as does the astringent juniper threaded down to the balsamic amber. Elégance Cuirée sounds like a striking and well-composed leather.

I’m a big time audiophile , not so much of a cinephile yet I remember well The Great Gatsby . Speaking of cinephiles sorry for the off-topic, but I miss Despina articles on Cafleurebon, i hope she’ll come back at some point , at least part-time like Danu did 🙂
I’m well familiar with Plume Impression fragrances, Jordi Fernandez , and even Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami previous work. If I have to rate my favorite Plume Impression fragrances:
    1.Rivalite Imperiale
    2.Pop Heart
    3.Que Tal
Elegance Cuiree I believe is the most challenging fragrance from Plume Impression catalog, it’s rich and resinous i agree, yet on my skin there’s no animalic aspects…at all. Juniper berries I barely get, but instead patchouli, and hefty dose of both incense, ashy tobacco , and a pinch of sweetness. Two of Steven claims actually surprised me
    1. He said Elegance Cuiree is not smoky, it very smoky and ashy to me
    2. He’s comparison to Italian Leather by Memo Paris , to me the two are very different. The tomato leaves and galbanum green and vegetal combination in Italian Leather is not something I’m fond of , I believe Elegance Cuiree is way better fragrance, to me at least.
All profiles I already follow , including the still active @scentstoryfragrances , the previous and for now paused Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami brand account/project @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • I’m a huge fan of leather fragrances and the way that Steven and Michelyn describes it makes me want it even more <3 (juniper and incense makes it more intriguing for me)
    Greetings from Romania, EU!

  • I’m really loving leather lately, so thank you for bringing Elégance Cuirée to my attention! I love Michelyn’s description of the interplay between the rich leather and the crisp juniper. I also enjoyed Steven’s description of the amber base, since I prefer my amber to be not very sweet. I follow you on instagram @ra7chel. Thank you for the chance to win!

  • Nicolas89 says:

Some time ago I had the opportunity to visit Jovoy and I saw the Plume Impression stand, however, that day I did not test any of this brand. Big mistake because from the review I see that he has olibanul, which I adore, as well as juniper that should give him greenery and freshness. Thanks for the review! I didn’t know the Redolessence channel and I see that you know how to explain the fragrance in a very approachable way! Im from the EU.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’d like to try Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée. I appreciate it that Michelyn mentions what is prominent in the fragrance, e.g. rich and resinous leather, juniper, and incense. I appreciate Steven’s review, e.g. when he mentions that the amber in this fragrance is not a sweet type of amber, but instead it’s more of a dark amber. I like to hear that it has a piney aspect to it. I like leather fragrances, and I’d like to add more to my collection. I live in the U.S.A., I follow Steven’s channel and I follow @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram from: @regismonkton

Jordi Fernández has such a bubbly personality , I like how he developed Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée . Last week I read a long interview with him , when he spoke of his his affinity for oud and patchouli true artist if you ask me.
Being a tailor, and I believe i’m artist too. Every time I’m working with clients, or looking for a new fragrances, I’m always looking for the right balance, just like the balance in Elégance Cuirée. Its mostly a seductive leather fragrance , but also has a boozy feel , patchouli , incense, and overall fearless texture. The whole profile i find quite tempting.
Thank you Michelyn, Steven, Plume Impression

    Greetings everyone
Elégance Cuirée co-review by Ms Camen and Mr Gavrielatos is in line with my opinion , I like the parallel with Jordan from The Great Gatsby movie.
Since I have smelled the fragrance at Jovoy Paris, my impressions are pretty much in tune , the only aspect where I differ is the the smoke , unlike Mr Gavrielatos I perceived a lot of it when I smelled Elégance Cuirée. I like the juxtaposition of leather and woody accords, and burning incense , Elégance Cuirée is such a fascinating fragrance.
Thank you , American living in Paris France

  • Jordi Fernandez to me equals Carner Barcelona , and Latin Love , I guess he likes making such fragrances, because Elégance Cuirée is alpha-male and lady Bosses fragrance 😉
Adventurous leather, incense and hopefully “crisp Gin and Tonic” creation i really like to win
    Thank you for the opportunity

I loved Michelyn’s Introduction and Steven’s video review of Plume Impression’s Elegance Cuiree. It sounds like Jordi Fernandez created a beautiful and chic leather centric fragrance. Steven describes this in such intimate detail with incense, woody, and ambery background this sounds very accessible and completely unisex. I am following your Instagram page @cafleurebonoffical on my page @michaelprincefragrance I am from the USA.
