Plume Impression Que Tal Review (Jordi Fernández) 2021 + What’s Up? Giveaway

Plume Impressions Que Tal

Plume Impression Que Tal by Karl©

Plume Impression Que Tal is a standout perfume from the new collection “Plume Encounters” which I awarded best of show at Esxence in Milan. I found Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami who are the owners of the brand to be charming and sophisticated and we bonded over their impressive creations. The concept and fragrances behind Plume Impression reflects their mutual vision and presents a clear representation of their “plume”, which travels to far away destinations and experiences visual impressions of these encounters.

Founded in 2019, Plume Impression offers up scents as portraits within one’s mind, each takes on a special persona of both softness and strength.  This duality is the hallmark of the brand. Presently there are two main collections, Elusive Spirit presented in white and silver describing the first three stories. These are invigorating scents easing the wearer into a new fragrance discovery and journey. The second Royal Spirit collection in black and gold are more powerful intense creations based on vibrant memories, be it Venice or Ascot and these provide deeper emotions.

“Plume Encounters” has been developed with perfumers, photographers and painters in mind using the feather as the facilitator of these fragrant formulas. Each experience is an extremely personal journey. For Plume Impression Que Tal they once again enlisted perfumer Jordi Fernández of Givaudan (who also composed another favourite of mine ‘Rivalite Imperiale’) and here he was given complete freedom to create Que Tal.

“Whilst he may be introspective his passion for utilising the finest raw materials make this collaboration a perfect match as he loves to express himself through his fragrances.  It is Jordi’s signature. Que Tal encapsulates passion with patchouli jasmine and the touch of sweetness comes from his adoration and vision of Eastern culture.  Special, vibrant and cosy Que Tal has character and spicy nuances.  Jordi is a wonderful person with a passion for constantly looking out for the perfect match, putting all his favourite ingredients together for this amber scent… It is such a special fragrance for us.” -Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami talk about their collaboration with Jordi Fernández at Esxence 2022.

Plume Impression Que Tal (Que Tal roughly translated from the Spanish means what’s going on or what’s up?) encapsulates the feeling of the warmest embrace in the summer months with a loved one.  It is bright, explosive,  comforting and warm; a truly gorgeous juxtaposition of fragrant emotions. The spiciness of pink pepper works wonders with a luscious apricot to provide one with a very voluptuous experience.  Que Tal moves in a circular motion, and we pick up on the array of notes time and again which seem to reflect the embrace we are met with. It does not transition in a top-middle-base journey, rather it wraps itself around you lovingly giving you an experience that is dreamy and rather delicious.

Plume Impressions Que Tal review

Plume Impression Que Tal by Karl©

The woody facets are offset by the floral jasmine and a whirling musky softness which acts as a pillowy cloud.  One does not eagerly try to decipher this composition, instead just enjoy the wearing in a blissed-out state.  Orris and sandalwood create a creamy aspect and with patchouli you sense a dreamy and deep experience as opposed to a powdery one.  The sensation is sensual and slightly sweet.  Cedar, dry amber and musk here add to the exoticism and alluring quality, whilst the apricot continues to be present hours into the wearing.  Que Tal is a fantastic release and one I will be treasuring all through the summer and into the autumn.

Notes: Pink Peppercorn, Apricot, Patchouli, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Orris, Cedarwood, Dry Amber, Musk

Plume Impression Que Tal kindly sent to Karl for review purposes. Thoughts are my own.

I love apricots and peaches in perfumes. I never tried this house. The philosophy is nice, the “plume” ppgathers visual experiences and they are making them olfactive. I live in London, UK.

  • Plume Impression Que Tal seems like a woody fragrance with fruity aspects. The description that particularly caught my attention is that it has orris and sandalwood, two notes I really enjoy, and together they create a creamy effect. I am in US.

  • Karl!! ❤️❤️❤️ Lovely to get to know the exciting new houses you’ve discovered! Apricot is not a note I’ve often experienced in fragrance, so I’d be delighted! Always, orris, jasmine, and sandalwood are wonderful! Thank you for this wonderful opportunity and new learning!!! ❤️ USA

  • GennyLeigh says:

The concept of the softness and strength duality in Plume Impressions is really interesting. There’s an inherent contradiction which makes for a complex olfactory experience. Que Tal sounds lovely with the pop of the apricot/pink peppercorn playing against the softness of the orris/sandalwood/musk combination. I also like that the fragrance is circular rather than adhering to the head/heart/base structure. I would live to try this! MD, USA.

i just love the notes and am a peach fan. i like the brands philosophy of using quality ingridients. I live in Europe, in Croatia

  • I liked that Que Tal was described as comforting and warm. It sounds like a beautiful fragrance to enjoy while relaxing at home while reading. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

  • I love the concept Plume has been developed with perfumers, photographers and painters in mind. The notes sound interesting fruit & creamy. I can see wearing this Summer into the Fall. Love the art work. Wonderful review. Thank you USA

I love how Plume encounters has been developed with perfumers, photographers and painters where each experience is an extremely personal journey.
Karl intrigued me with his opinion how Que Tal encapsulates the feeling of the warmest embrace in the summer months with a loved one. It is bright, explosive, comforting and warm; a truly gorgeous juxtaposition of fragrant emotions.
    Hugs from Croatia, EU.

  • This sounds magnificent and is a perfect scent to bring in the fall season. Apricot is one of my favorite fruits and is very underrated in my opinion. Thank you so much for the draw! Tennessee, USA

  • Warmest summer embrace with a loved one” sounds just like a perfect summer treat! If you add the list of notes: pink peppercorn, patchouli and jasmine, sandalwood, orris and musk coming and going in circles, this becomes a beautiful and personal journey through the perfume!

Wow, I’m dying ti try this brand and the composition sounds amazing with the apricot note! Also the name seems quite perfect like a soft but yet strength like the notes of the parfume

  • Fascinating idea created with painters, photographers and perfumers in mind. I am a sucker for Sandalwood, Orris and Patchouli. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • RiccardoC says:

Very interesting review, that thorougly describes the brand and the fascinating philosophy behind it: the duality of strenght and softness is something I’ve never heard of in perfumery, and I would like to better know this brand.
The ingredients and notes seem very interesting!

  • intoperfumes says:

It seems to be an interesting discovery – I love both apricot and pepper notes in perfumes. Thank you for the review, Karl.

  • Nice review Karl! I guess Jordi Fernández did a great work here ( I love his Carner collaborations) collaborating with Sabine and Gabriel. This couple show their love for perfumes and the memories that come with it without limitations or boundaries. The duality of softness and strength is key in the portraits of a special persona in the perfumes of this brand. Jordi with total freedom created a scent that mix passion and a touch of sweetness, obviously with his preferred ingredient: patchouli to give deepness. The summer months are present with a beautiful ingredient: the apricot that he mixes with pink pepper to gives us a warm and voluptuous embrace. The eastern culture of spices is present here with the woody musky facet of the aforementioned patchouli with sandalwood and orris. Notes of amber and cedar fill the air to finish this exotic journey we embark. I live in Spain, EU:

  • Plume Impression Que Tal encapsulates the feeling of the warmest embrace in the summer months with a loved one. Yes, this is how summer fragrances are so bright and warm!
I liked the duality that is presented as the hallmark of the brand.

  • Sweet summer dreams wrapped in apricot and patchouli. Yes, yes, yes!

  • patrick_348 says:

I liked Karl’s description of how this scent unfolds in a circular way, returning to notes in repetitive alternation. It sounds like Plume Impression has envisioned this fragrance as a portrait of Jordi Fernandez’s consciousness and passions, and that makes it all the more interesting as something personal, rather than just a commercial product. I live in the US, in North Carolina.

  • I was intrigued by Karl’s words, “It is bright, explosive, comforting and warm; a truly gorgeous juxtaposition of fragrant emotions.”
I love that they use the feather as the facilitator of these fragrant formulas. Also, each experience is a personal journey, and I am in the USA.

  • Ooh I love a good apricot note. The orris and sandalwood with patchouli coming together to create something creamy and deep also sounds really nice along with the fruit. I like the bottle as well. It’s pretty understated but feels unique with the art. I am from USA.

  • Starlit12 says:

Apricots are very reassuring, “homely” fruit to me, and so is their scent – so having a perfume capture their essence in both a romantic way and one full of devotion and intimacy sounds wonderful and comforting.
The “Plume impression” collection sounds innovative and very poetic.
    I live in the EU.

  • Hola, qué tal?
I appreciate their intention to relieve a moment or an image trough a scent, it may be a very difficult task to do, but I think its a beautiful way to transmit an emotion. And this fragrance sounds fantastic, sounds juicy and super attractive, I would like to have the fortune to enjoy its aroma. From Mexico, thank you.

  • NituNicolae says:

I find Orris(iris) scents to be a bit polarizing, given their natural inclination to smelling “lipsticky” or make up-like. But nevertheless, they are a great scent profile that always gets me compliments. Excited for the giveaway. EU

  • I love the vision of the house. Expression of ideas through fragrance is admirable. I like the use of jasmine to soften the patchouli. I am also a fan of iris and sandalwood’s creamy effects. I think it’s an excellent introduction from the new house that started in 2019.

  • I find the amazing unique philosophy of this barnd the most interesting. I live in Poland, EU. I find the notes of this fragrance something really special and fabulous.

  • It’s fascinating how your sense of smell can instantly transport you to a destination in an instant. I don’t think I’ve tried Apricot in a fragrance, but I’m interested in where Que Tal transports me when I smell this.
    United States

  • I love the idea of a fragrance to just enjoy rather than having to break down every note. (I Like that too) but this fragrance sounds nice.
Would love to enjoy this one. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Southirina says:

I love it because it is “bright, explosive, comforting and warm” and it is described as a summer fragrance. For me, Qué Tal means Barcelona, with its fuzzy sparkling vibrant joyful vibe and I’ve got a feeling that the perfume Que Tal is the same.
    Hugs from Romania

  • The idea of creating two different categories of perfumes that are supposed to reflect different depth of emotions is so interesting! I love pink pepper so I was won over with the review saying that the spiciness of pink pepper works wonders with a luscious apricot to provide one with a very voluptuous experience.
    EU

  • I found it interesting when Karl said that in Plume Impression Que Tal there is not the usual top-heart-base hierarchy but more of a wrap around feeling of lovely notes that don’t change and envelop you in a dreamy deliciousness. The listed notes are familiar ones and are lovely (sandalwood, musk, patchouli, orris, etc.). Apricot and peppercorn will add some sweet spiciness to a earthy perfume. I have not tried this brand, yet. Thanks for the review and a generous draw. I am from the USA.

  • Oh boy, I love apricot on fragrance and this one with the pink pepper, the floral jasmine and the patchouli seems like something I have not tried before and I would love it.
The thing that got me the most interested in the fragrance is how this perform in the warmest months.

Thank you Karl, for introducing this beauty to us humble readers. Oh how I need a fragrance that I could rest upon like on a pillowy cloud! Que Tal sounds like an ultimate dream come true. The choice of notes sounds like it comes from heaven, I cannot find words how beautiful, captivating and comforting it comes across to me. And interesting by deviating from the typical top-heart-base structure. The brand’s philosophy is truly intriguing and would be curious to find out more about their other creations based on their >>plume’s<< travels and escapades. I am based in the EU

  • Very interesting review!!
Worm, soft and gorgeous perfume about “warmest embrace in the summer months with a loved one” – sounds beautiful!
I am not familiar with this brand.

  • I am most interested to try because of the pepper- apricot combination, and the vibrant-cozy descriptor. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • Wow, Plume Impression Que Tal must have made quite an impression for Karl to award it best of show at Exsence 2022! I also liked the idea of scents as portraits within the mind. The notes listing also has my favorites in the lineup. Thank you for a wonderful review and for the giveaway. I’m in USA

  • Delightful review Karl
Que Tal is a woody-ambery fragrance i need to know , blend of woods , apricot sweetness , and spices.
I believe the fragrance would have sensual trail , with seductive properties
    Thanks for the draw

Intriguing fragrance… if I had to pick up this one just looking at the notes I wouldn’t… The review was very detailed and I really liked it!!!! Very curious!!!! I’m from Massachusetts, US.

  • Thanks for this interesting review Karl!

This is my first impression of Plume Impression and… I’m impressed! It’s great to hear Sabine dedicated this to the painters, perfumers and photographers who probably receive a short brief, but are free to unleash their creative freedom and give their personal touch. I’m sure Jordi has enjoyed this assignment!

I love Iris and Orris fragrances, but haven’t tried one that isn’t powdery yet. I’m really curious about Que Tal and hope to be able to try it soon!

What really piqued my interest was your description of the Cedar, dry Amber and Musk, that add to the exoticism and alluring quality, whilst the Apricot continues to be present hours into the wearingone. I love the way this sounds!

    Greetings from the UK!

  • I don’t have much experience with amber fragrances, but I’m starting to develop a nose for them after being introduced to Christophe Laudamiel’s Amber Classico Modern. Karl pointed out in his review that Que Tal captures a “warmest embrace in the summer months.” I’m intrigued by an amber that not only works in the summer heat, but is made for it, and spicy pink peppercorn and woody cedar are two of my favorite perfumery notes. I’ll admit that I find the philosophy behind Plume Impression a little cryptic, but I love perfumes that bring me to a place or render a setting in detail. Thanks for the review Karl!

    I’m in the midwest, USA.

  • Karl Topham take on Plume Impression Que Tal made me think of my last year Summer vacation in Valencia, Spain. Of course as a Pastry Chef I always try to compare fragrances to some sort of food , making Apricots and Spice Pecan Cake, and later on giving my girlfriend iris bouquet, and sharing the cake with her. That’s how I believe Que Tal would smell, like sensual vacation in Valencia.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

Plume Impression is a brand I was not aware of, Que Tal possesses the qualities of a smooth first date , and possibly even close encounters fragrance. The scent is sweet, floral and woody, all blended to perfection by famous perfumer like Jordi Fernández
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Not always the biggest fan of sweet fragrances but this sounds like the sweetness in this fragrance is not overwhelming. Bright, explosive, comforting and warm. With woody facets, floral Jasmine musky softness. A sensual and slightly sweet fragrance. A fragrance for summer that can take you into autumn.

I loved Karl’s review of Plume Impression Que Tal is learning more about Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami the creators of this brand that I’ve heard so many great things about from the quality of their fragrances to the packaging and presentation. Karl goes into great detail about the beautiful Que Tal which means what’s up in Spanish and the brands philosophy using perfumers Jordi Fernández of Givaudan to have free reign creating Que Tal. “Plume Encounters” has been developed with perfumers, photographers and painters in mind using the feather as the facilitator of these fragrant formulas. Each experience is an extremely personal journey. I would love to try this one. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • WaltherP99 says:

I’m well familiar with all Plume Impression fragrances, and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1.Rivalite Imperiale
    2.Que Tal
    3.Pop Heart

“Que Tal encapsulates passion with patchouli jasmine and the touch of sweetness”
Maybe that was the idea behind the fragrance, but on my skin it develops differently. I barely get any jasmine, if at all, and the fruity sweetness is so well pronounced, that pushes the fragrance into almost gourmand territory , with really pleasing powdery iris, and creamy sandalwood in the base.
Jordi Fernández is one of the famous noses, working with the brand, together with names like Quentin Bisch , Dalia Izem and Mark Buxton

“Presently there are two main collections”
If I got Karl right, I do believe he implied about the fact how Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami are the people behind the parent company ScentStory .
They actually started 24 brand around 10 years before Plume Impression, and at one point of time the 2 brands were managed by one Instagram account.
Due to some licensing issues , Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami “paused” 24 , and at least for now continued with Plume Impression only , I love the 3 fragrances I’ve mentioned, but I also really hope they will revive 24 in one form , or the other .
All profiles I already follow , including the still active @scentstoryfragrances , @waltherp99bg

The list of notes for this fragrance is very appealing to me, and Karl’s review caused me to think that I should insist on trying this fragrance. I’d like to see how the apricot is like, and in combination with the other ingredients. I’d like to see what Jordi Fernandez’s use of the finest raw materials is like. I live in the U.S.A.

I love that duality is the hallmark of this brand. I believe that everyone, man and woman, needs opportunity and acceptance to b both soft and strong. I am very interested in the pink peppercorn and, especially, the apricot notes.

I’m a tailor, and I believe an artist too , and when I’m working with clients, or looking for a new fragrances, I’m always looking for the right balance, just like Jordi Fernández with Que Tal. Its woody, spicy , floral, with subtle sweetness profile i find quite tempting.

Thanks for the great review Karl.

I love how this is a fragrance that evolves in a circular fashion, one that the user should be present for, instead of trying to understand it.

The juxtaposition of fruity and luscious peach, with cedarwood and jasmine and a return to creamy sandalwood, comforting orris and huggable musks, makes this such a fascinating fragrance.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Because of Karl Topham cozy , free spirited review, I’m now aware of the exotic journey type of energy, coming from “Que Tal ”
When I think of it , I love everything about the fragrance , it’s almost like the air around me is filled with the sweet scent of apricot , iris , cedar and amber.
Jordi Fernández made one really fine scent , harmoniously blended , and adventurous
    Thank you for the opportunity
