Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale Review (Dalia Izem) 2019 + explosive tête-à-têtes giveaway

Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale review

Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale by Karl

You may ask, “What sets a fragrance apart from most others.” I will share with you dear reader, a special fragrance that stands out statuesque and splendid.

This is not a careful room, although there is much to appraise…

You thought this was going to be a wasted evening but now you are not so sure.” -Penny Dreadful Ballroom scene, Dorian Gray to Vanessa Ives.

Mises en Scene: An epicurean establishment where haute couture and nobility take centre stage. Outside may be a tumult of chaos. However, here there is entertainment and intrigue in abundance. We saunter through lavish galleries and take to the centre stage. This is where the buzz of convivial energy and exuberance is on show as people intermingle and converse. Through the throng something takes our attention, a whisp of sheerest subtlety but the effect hits like an arrow straight to one’s heart. A moment in time captured as clearly as a photographic image and etched in our memory. I liken it to the meeting in the television series ‘Penny Dreadful’ where Vanessa Ives and Dorian Gray enjoy exchange glances and a flirtatious exchange. As those of you may know, random invitations can lead to explosive tête-à-têtes. Plume Impression (Winner of Best of Show Exsence 2022) founded by Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami delivers lavish, artistic perfumes and Rivalite Imperiale is one of my most beloved from their Royal Spirit collection. Its sensual and sophisticated nature makes for a fragrance of luxury.

This is the experience of Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale, a perfume of romance and refinement. It is an invitation to explore another side of yourself, donning your finest attire. This fragrance is high class and glamourous. So, what makes it so special from other luxury perfumes in today’s market? The opening is a fruity, spicy, and slightly honeyed experience. Blending cinnamon and plum with exotic fruits, the perfume is immediately sumptuous and syrupy but also airy and this leaves a captivating trail. It melts into your skin creating a layer of addiction. The heart combines a wet and light tobacco with tonka bean and patchouli. The key here is that these notes are reigned in somewhat and beckon in a light caress of sweet, earthy, and boozy tones like the softest whisper in one’s ear. This leads one to abandon their sweet nature and give in to its allure. The base of vanilla, amber and sandalwood takes the juicy and sweet facets and provides a silky-smooth base to proceedings, ever so slightly carnal with a touch of the gourmand. The classical structure of this fragrance ensures that it makes a bold statement yet keeps things genteel but enraptures you.

Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale evokes a mysterious individual who has poise and self-confidence. It is never overbearing whilst has the power to capture one’s attention. When wearing it I feel this sense of relaxation, safe in the understanding that this is me at my absolute peak. For those who also wear it I can imagine a presence of grace, sophistication, and magnetism. This is a special perfume, one to cherish and love for its beauty and rarity. One feels unique with it.

Notes: Dried Fruits, Cinnamon, Mirabelle, Tobacco, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood.

Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale kindly sent to Karl for review purposes. Thoughts are my own.

Love the tenderness and intimacy and tenderness hinted at with the notes, images, and vibe of the scent. Many of the notes (especially tobacco, tonka, plum, amber, dried fruits) are go tos for me. This almost sounds like it has a Lutensian feel to it, and I’m eager to try anything in that direction. Thanks for the generous draw! I’m in the US.

  • I really enjoyed reading the review. The way Karl painted the picture in the beginning makes the fantasy run wild. What I found the most interesting based on Karl’s review was definitely the perfume being described as mysterious, unique and self-confident with the power to capture attention. I loved all the notes even before reading the review, but the review made me fall in love with it even before having a chance to smell it. I live in Slovakia.

  • Yeah, romance… spicy honeyed opening, tobacco in the heart, and amber in the base… You described what could be my favourite fragrance. Incredible, for sure it is an unique experience. I am not very accustomed with the note of plum in fragrances, but it can not go wrong with the notes described in this. Thank you for the opportunity! I live in Romania, EU.

  • Claumarchini says:

Thank you so much Karl for this extremely evocative review and for introducing me to the brand! I have read about it but never had the chance to experience it, and Rivalité Impériale sounds absolutely fabulous: I am especially intrigued by the fruity-spicy opening, and although I don’t have a “sweet tooth” I think I would definitely enjoy this beauty. As summer is slowly saying goodbye, I am starting to think about warm and comforting scents! Greetings from Italy

  • Loving this brand, which is very hard to find in Italy but it deserves all the hype behind it. Very elegant, well blended, finest quality fragrances!
This would br amazing for the autumn season.
    Greetings from Italy !

  • I can almost smell this perfume just by reading the review. The exotic fruit sprinkled with cinnamon, with a layer of amber, sandalwood and vanilla can only create the creamiest, coziest blend, romantic and sensual. I recently find myself to be drawn to these oriental fragrances which are not harsh or too “in your face” so I am sure I would love Rivalité Imperiale.

Thank you, Karl, I am enchanted! What a lovely review. A perfume which is sensual and sophisticated in nature, high class and glamourous appeals to my aesthetic senses. The quality of catching others’ attention without being overbearing is something I truly appreciate about classy fragrances. Feeling at the same time unique and at one’s best cannot be beaten so I am swooning over the images so skillfully painted by Karl. And the notes are just delicious! Thank you from the EU

  • Very nice article.
Rivalite Imperiale sounds luxurious and romantic, I would love to try it. Hugs from Mexico.

  • katyakotovskaya says:

It’s easy to spoil a plum note with too much sweetness, but somehow I’m sure it’s not the case here. Karl painted the perfect balance in this perfume, so I’m super curious to try it. Europe

  • From Karl’s review of Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale, I get the impression it is a very elegantly designed romantic perfume. I must say, however, the notes are somewhat common and familiar, except Mirabelle for me, so I am really curious as to the final product which makes it one of Karl’s favorite perfumes. Thanks for the review and draw. From USA.

  • I desperately want to try it! “Parfume of romance and refinement and at the same time a high class and glamourous”. What a nice description, I almost feel the scent before testing it…I live in Greece, EU.

  • The combination of the dried fruits, spice, patchouli and vanilla makes this sumptuous fragrance perfect for cooler weather. This sounds like a very sophisticated yet comforting gourmand. I remember watching the entirety of Penny Dreadful a few years ago and I completely get the over the top lushness this perfume aspires to. I’m in MD, USA.

  • I certainly like the sound of a glamourous fragrance and the syrupy interplay between the dried fruits and the vanillic amber and tonka base make it just right for the upcoming cooler weather. Boozy tones on fine mists of tobacco and cinnamon are what it’s all about! Interesting about the sense of relaxation too. Personally, I find these kinds of sweets scents very comforting amidst the damp smell of decaying leaves, aspirating wood and soily undergrowth. Served with a hot tea or coffee in a puffy sweater….yes please. 🙂 Canada.

  • This is one of the most well written reviews I’ve ever read on here. It was like a story that I couldn’t put down. Loved it.

  • As we transition into fall, the notes of this fragrance are some of those that I look forward to wearing. The tobacco/vanilla/patchouli blend can be amazing when blended well. Looking forward to trying this one. Thank you. USA.

  • This sounds so yummy. I loved the image of an airy plum trail floating through a room, surprising and intriguing the occupants. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • I love that Karl presents Plume Impression as “an invitation to explore another side of yourself, donning your finest attire.” Fragrance has this magic power to ignite a long ignored fire inside us, to mirror a facet of us that has long been asleep.
I would love to try Plume Impression.
    Hugs from Romania

  • This sounds like it would be perfect for the coming Fall season. I love all of the notes listed. The review makes it sound like such a regal and elegant perfume. I’ve never heard of this perfume house before. Where have I been that I missed such an amazing sounding fragrance house?!
I also really liked the description “For those who also wear it I can imagine a presence of grace, sophistication, and magnetism.” It sounds magnificent!

  • The pyramid notes list in this Rivalite Imperiale sounds just perfect. Great review and description, plum and cinnamon combo got me hooked in a second, pretty sure this is a special kind of a perfume. I’m in the EU.

  • Great writing in this article! I have never heard of this house, so I thank you for something new to look into. I have since read this one is similar to Oajan from PDM, which I enjoy, but not enough to pull the trigger on a bottle. This one though is supposedly more refined, or better blended, and has more intricacies going on inside the bottle/juice. Thank you for the draw as always! US.

  • I love the scene, and how air around it carried just a hint of warmth and subtle flirtation. Summer may be over soon, nevertheless the sweet scent of such special perfume can carry on.

    Greetings from Portugal

  • So sensual and I would love to be welcomed into the posh world of Dorian Gray and Vanessa Ives. Mirabelle the plum got my attention as did the base of vanilla and amber

  • Can’t go wrong with dried fruit notes! This one does sound quite refined and elegant based on this review. For some reason I am brought to mind of a hermes fragrance. I am not at all familiar with this house at all. Thank you from Canada!

  • Another delightful review Karl

Karl’s review was done quite well. What I appreciated about his review was his telling me how the fragrance would make me feel – HIGH CLASS, and then his breaking down the fragrance, telling me why: “It is an invitation to explore another side of yourself, donning your finest attire. This fragrance is high class and glamourous. So, what makes it so special from other luxury perfumes in today’s market? The opening is a fruity, spicy, and slightly honeyed experience. • Thanks for another great review Karl!

I don’t recall reading about this brand before so I appreciate the introduction. Another fantastic house for me to explore and discover!

Rivalite Imperiale is the type of fragrance that I love to wear everyday. A scent that makes me feel unique and at my absolute best. I would enjoy the attention it would give me and the mystery that would surround me.

Everything, from your excellent review to the note breakdown, screams to me that this is a fragrance I have to get!

  • I finally watched Penny Dreadful about a year or two ago, long after it originally aired. That show was a lot of fun. Getting back to the perfume at hand, Rivalite Imperiale sounds like a wonderful option for late summer evenings or the crisper days of autumn. The combination of dried fruit, cinnamon, and vanilla must smell marvelous, but also balanced by tobacco, amber, and sandalwood. Thanks for the review Karl.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Karl’s review of Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale. This is a brand I’ve heard so much and the packaging and bottle presentation are second to none winning Best of Show at Exsence 2022. Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami founders and creative directors for Plume Impression have done an incredible job. Rivalite Imperial is my kind of fragrance with warm, cozy, ambery, vanillic, and tobacco. I would love to try this beautiful fragrance. I am from the USA.

  • Let’s start with these notes…Dried Fruits, Cinnamon, Mirabelle, Tobacco, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood. All of those together just sound like they are about being close and setting an intimate moment. Karl’s review paints that scene perfectly. The tie in with that scene from Penny Dreadful(still mad it was cancelled) is definitely what I imagine when hearing how this fragrance is described especially when he mentions how the scent seems to melt into your skin. That’s something I need as the cold months approach us and there will be more time spent cuddled up.

  • Greetings from the USA! I created a post last night but it hasn’t shown up on here. I apologize if this mistake is on my end. I had to make another post though because THIS perfume, wow, I can’t think of anything I’d love more in a perfume than tobacco, some booziness, plum, cinnamon, vanilla, tonka, my goodness…these are all of the notes I search for in my next bottle. You talked about how it leans gourmand. I can’t think of anything Iobe more in a fragrance!! This was a beautifully written review, so descriptive. I’m new to the world of niche but reviews such as this one are important to me because unfortunately, I live in a place where I’m unable to sample and unfortunately also, many decant sites don’t have everything. You mentioned this fragrance to be “honeyed”. I feel like I MUST HAVE a bottle of this, almost as a card saying “Welcome to the amazing world of niche!” Thank you for the beautiful and descriptive review. And thank you for the generous giveaway, even if I’m not the lucky one. I’m in the Philadelphia region of the US.

  • It’s fascinating how Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami developed Plume Impression , with the help of other creative people, refined brand if I have to guess.
I’m a tailor, and I believe an artist too. Every time I’m working with clients, or looking for a new fragrances, I’m always looking for the right balance, just like the balance in Rivalite Imperiale. Its woody, spicy , and the subtle sweetness profile i find quite tempting.
Thank you Karl , and Plume Impression

Karl’s review of this fragrance gives me the impression that it is a high-quality fragrance, e.g. when he says “When wearing it I feel this sense of relaxation, safe in the understanding that this is me at my absolute peak.” I’d like to try this fragrance. I like it’s list of notes. I live in the U.S.A.

Oh, I remember that scene in “Penny Dreadful” very well. It was so charged! I love what Karl wrote about random invitations that can lead to explosive tête-à-têtes. Oh, how true that is. I love perfumes that have dried fruit openings. I find that very alluring,
    I live in the USA.

  • I never saw “Penny Dreadful” , but I’m well familiar with all Plume Impression fragrances, and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1.Rivalite Imperiale
    2.Que Tal
    3.Pop Heart
Ever since I came to Cafleurebon world ~5 years ago the thing that fascinates me the most, is reading about fragrances I know, if the reviewer opinion is different than mine.
I follow Karl on Instagram years before he became part of Cafleurebon, and today our opinions are in a way similar, but also quite different.
I do agree that Rivalite Imperiale is glamorous , sweet, addictive and you could easily catch peoples attention wearing it . On the other hand I get non of “sense of relaxation” , “safe” , “grace” and a lot of the other characteristics Karl thinks it has.
To me Rivalite Imperiale is syrupy sweet, thick and voluptuous full time gourmand . On my skin it’s quite linear, and it never abandoned its sweet nature, or get into carnal territory.
I don’t see the fragrance as some refined gentlemen, but on the contrary like extrovert , “Party Like a Rockstar” clubber , who always announces its presence.
Oh’ , I almost forgot, other than the official ones, and the notes Karl spoke about, I also get hefty dose of coconut. Not like a freshly cut , but more like “Bounty” chocolate bar type of coconut.
All profiles I already follow , including the still active @scentstoryfragrances , the previous, and temporarily (i hope) paused Sabine Schaffer and Gabriel Chami “24” brand account , @waltherp99bg

  • Fantastic review Karl! What I find most interesting based on Karl’s review of Plume Impression Rivalite Imperiale is how Karl describes it as embodying a sophisticated setting of haute couture and nobility but with an air of mischief and a whimsical encounter that can turn explosive. This tension and juxtaposition between the refined and the naughty sounds absolutely perfect for me in a perfume. I can’t wait to try it! I live in the US.
