The mysterious, glowing beauty of this gem is so enchanting. It has enraptured people for centuries, breeding greed, wars, and blood spilled over the pursuit of owning this nature’s treasure. KAJAL Almaz is encased in a bottle that is bound to mesmerize, encrusted with gems and the carvings; it feels like a precious jewel on the vanity. Treasured throughout history, Almaz’s precious gemstones have been sought after on many quests. By far the most desired and cherished is the Almaz, a gem of legendary sparkling brilliance which symbolizes everlasting love, strength, and good health. Thankfully owning this gem doesn’t require any bloodshed…4

It’s no wonder Moe Khalef of KAJAL Paris chose to dedicate its fragrance to this precious stone. Almaz, the Arabic name for diamonds, are renowned for their sublime beauty and timelessness as they withstand millions of years of immense pressure to form. A glimmering glass-like mineral is an allotrope of carbon in which four others surround each atom in the form of a tetrahedron. KAJAL Almaz is structured in a similar manner, with every facet slowly revealing itself and the cap of the bottle luring you in with its glowing design.

KAJAL Almaz opens with a beguiling fruity combination of bergamot and blackcurrant, a juicy and mouth-watering mixture of fresh sweetness with a slightly spicy edge. It feels almost as if you squeezed fruits in your palm, let all the juices drip down, and blend them into one healthy drink. The heart slowly reveals an elegant blend of raspberry, Flower notes, and heliotrope, which gives off a soft, alluring floral embrace. A bit creamy and inviting, it slows down its initially vibrant rhythm and sits closer to the skin. The base is built upon a delicious fusion of musk, wood notes, vanilla, amber, and brown sugar that adds a spoonful of sweetness without making it sticky. I wouldn’t call the DNA of this composition a breakthrough.

We have certainly encountered it in various shapes and forms before. If you enjoyed Tiziana Terenzi Kirke or Xerjoff Erba Pura, you would fall hard for KAJAL Almaz. I did not expect such tartness from this fragrance. Looking at the bottle, I envisioned something green and aldehydic or something along the dark and mysterious path. The luscious fruit cocktail was a bit of a surprise. The sparkling fruitiness that bursts out of the bottle at first spray is fun and bubbly and does not hide any dark secrets as one may expect. KAJAL Almaz is fun and flirtatious and would suit almost any fragrance wardrobe as a sumptuous, vacation vibe fruity-floral accessory. An optimistic blend. Don’t be too quick to judge it from the top notes; its sensual side does kick in midway as you get to the heart, and just like that, you feel the soft touch of heliotrope on your skin, giving you a much-needed hug.

Notes: Calabrian bergamot, Black Currant, Amalfi Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Raspberry, Turkish Rose, Heliotrope and Orris, Madagascar Vanilla, Brown sugar, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Musk and Amber.

The bottle was kindly gifted to me but the opinions are always my own.

Olya Bar, Editor

Editor’s Note: Rania Jouaneh is also the  perfumer for RANIA J. who in a 2015 review described her perfumes as jewelry for the skin.

I have fallen in love with this Brand and collection through Lamar. It is one of the most well crafted and unique scents I have smelled in a while. This one sounds like it would be right up my ally! Juicy fruits and citrus with a creamy woody dry down, it sounds perfect! Also Olya has a way with words and she sold me on this. <3 I would love to win this! I am in the U.S!

  • What a beautiful review by olya and great images
    I love Lamar
Rania j is a really great perfumer

  • From the review, it seems that KAJAL Almaz is a fruity-floral composition with a woody-gourmand base. I didn’t know that Almaz stands for diamond in Arabic. I thought it may be referring to Emerald, given the green stones incorporated in the bottle design. I am aware of Erba Pura so this gives me a good idea of how Almaz smells like. I am in US.

  • Olya’s review was great, with the intro encompassing the beauty of the bottle and the meaning behind its name. I too was surprised to read that this was a fruity floral based on the presentation. I would have assumed something more dark and mysterious, maybe green like Olya assumed. This combination intrigues me though, and would love to experience the transition from the fruity opening to the sensual notes in the heart. My favorite from the brand is Lamar. Thanks!

  • Great descriptions by Olya, sounds like it may be good in the Vegas heat. I have not smelled anything from this house. NV, USA.

  • I really like the tie between the beauty of the gen and the fragrance. The tart and juicy quality is not something I have experienced. The transition to darker and more sentual notes seem quite dramatic. I have not tried anything from the brand. I am from CA, USA.

Greetings! I deeply enjoyed the skillful manner in which this article is poised between the misty realm of legend and scientific knowledge, pulling together different strings of information that make it rich in detail, yet to the point. What appeals to me the most is the highlighting of the way in which scent and bottle defy our common idiosyncrasies regarding the olfactory correspondences of colors, by means of a thorough and almost ‘tactile’ description of how the perfume’s development on the skin transcends the expectations evoked by the verdant iridescence of the jewel-like bottle – as instead of “something green and aldehydic or something along the dark and mysterious path”, there arose a “luscious fruit cocktail”. It somehow feels tributary to the mirage of wealth and prestige that lured many on a quest for the ‘mythical’ diamond. Unfortunately, as an anbsolute beginner, I haven’t got the chance to test KAJAL’s renowned creations yet, however I am enthusiastically looking forward to do so in the future. I am extremely grateful for such reviews that spark curiosity and feed the imagination.

KAJAL Almaz a jewel of a mysterious green a perfume that is at the same time fresh, floral, slightly sweet but also elegant at the same time. I hope I have the privilege of being mine. I am from Bucharest Romania Europe

  • Nice review with a very vivid description of Almaz, Olya! But the bad thing is: now I want this perfume I never got the chance to try any perfume of this brand, but it caught my attention several times.
My favourite scents are happy, fruity and kind of sweet. So, I hope I win this one! To bad I never win anything (perhaps because I am lucky in love). But, optimistic as I am, I never give up

I really dig these bottles of Kajal and I am curios about the juice inside, if they make the beautiful bottles justice.
    Thank you!

Love the pictures of the bottle and I would definitely love to tempt my skin with a heliotrope hug from KAJAL Almaz

Oh, I looooove summer and everything related, perfumes especially! Olya described it as a luscious fruit cocktail with sparkling fruitiness that bursts out of the bottle at first spray and that’s exactly what I want from my summer scent! Truly an optimistic blend! Don’t have a favorite from the house, as I haven’t had the chance to try it.
    Hugs from Croatia, EU

  • Wow, wouldn’t have expected a fragrance inspired by diamonds to be in the same vein as Kirke or Erba Pura! Yet, the sweet fruity tartness with a bubbly, optimistic core can’t fail and I’m sure Almaz is the perfect summer perfume (albeit preferably sprayed with a light hand).
I don’t have any favorites from Kajal because I haven’t sampled enough.
    I live in the EU.

  • As fun and flirty , fruity and flowery delight, Kajal Almaz may become my not so guity olfactory pleasure if i win it! From Romania with love!

  • I daydream, I make a definitely impossible wish, to own this jewel. Everything is extremely fabulous, the fragrance, the bottle and above all its creator. I love the perfumes of Rania J., everyone !!!!!!!! I don’t have any perfume from this brand.
THANK YOU OLYA, FOR LETTING US DREAM.

  • Notes: Calabrian bergamot, Black Currant, Amalfi Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Raspberry, Turkish Rose, Heliotrope and Orris, Madagascar Vanilla, Brown sugar, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Musk and Amber. I am intrigued by fruitiness as well as the heliotrope note in particular. My favourite from this house is Kajal homme. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Yum! Your review sparked my interest in both this fragrance and the house! I have not heard of either before. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • I am not a big fan of Erba Pura from Xerjoff. But, once I saw Rania J as the perfumer I knew I should try this one. Thanks for the review and draw. I am in the US.

  • The contradiction between the look of the bottle and Olya’s description of the fragrance is striking. I like that it seems like a joyful surprise. And I would love a heliotrope hug. I don’t have a favorite from Kajal. I am in the US.

  • GennyLeigh says:

What a gorgeous bottle! It’s definitely reminiscent of a precious jewel. It a perfect time of year for tart, sparkling fruitiness. Kajal always seem to source quality ingredients and it seems Kajal Almaz is no exception with the Turkish rose, Almafi lemon and Calabrian bergamot. As Olya said, it’s not necessarily a breakthrough fragrance but is well composed. I’ve tried several Kajal fragrances, including Lamar and Yasmina. MD, USA.

  • This bottle cap is cool! I try not to usually be swayed by bottle design but sometimes it’s hard to resist. I appreciate how this perfume is described as not being a breakthrough because frankly, not everything can be. Myself I really enjoy fruity perfumes, and I know that’s not the coolest thing to admit amongst frag snobs, but sometimes something with a fun vacation vibe is just plain appealing. USA

  • Gorgeous notes in a gorgeous bottle! I love the connection between perfume and jewels. I think we could all use “a much-needed hug” from heliotrope! Thank you for the generous draw, US.

  • This is such a beautiful presentation! The bottle is absolutely stunning! I love that it is such a tart fragrance. Those drydown notes sound wonderful. I have never tried any scents from this perfume house and would love to add this to my collection.

Vacation vibe fruity-floral!!!! What else you need? Perfect!!! I didn’t had the chance to try any of Kajal fragrances yet so I don’t have a favorite. I live in London, UK and would looooove to win this. The bottle is mesmerizing without being too much!

  • I like the naming of the fragrance to the precious stone Almaz, the Arabic name for diamond. I have not yet tried anything by this brand. From EU.

  • Heliotrope always intrigues me in a perfume. It seems as if the combinations of fruits and heliotrope would be a fruity-softness that would be hard to resist. That bottle! I immediately rushed to look up the house, thank you for the opportunity. I am in the US.

  • KAJAL Almaz bottle and name are both beautiful. Like Olya says in her review, I too was surprised that this perfume has a floral-fruity character (expected it to have dark, woody, incense, as in Middle Eastern perfumes). KAJAL Almaz seems to have a fresh, happy, cheerful vibe. I have never tried Kajal perfumes so don’t have any favorites, yet. Thanks for the review and draw. From USA.

  • Almaz seems to open with fruity combination of bergamot and blackcurrant and that’s beautiful. Dry down is raspberry, Flower notes, and heliotrope and that coupled to the top is superb! A beautiful description by Olya really made it very interesting including the notes of brown sugar, heliotrope in the base. A house that I have got no experience with but I am curious and interested to find out more about this house. Olya compared it to Kirke and Erba Pura and I love those! Thank you. USA

  • I am so happy Kajal Paris made a new perfume, since I love all from the house I have smelled, being Lamar my favorite.
The fruit cocktail, the freshness, mixed with a slightly spicy edges sure makes this fragrance amazing.
I would love to smell this one soon; I know I would love it.

  • Sorry for the amount of comments. I thought that I couldn’t post a comment so I tried a couple of times and now I realised that they were actually being posted.

  • Thanks for the review and the amazing picture Olya!

Moe is one of my favourite perfumers. Homme and Lamar are incredible fragrances I enjoy wearing often (a maybe little bit too much!) so I will have to stock up on more bottles very soon!

Almaz sounds just as amazing. I sampled Erba and considered buying a full bottle, but now you really got me interested in Almaz. I love the fruitiness of Erba and I believe you when you say I would fall hard for this! This does sound like a fun and flirtatious fragrance perfect for a lovely date-night this summer!

    Greetings from the UK!

Thank you for the beautiful review, I particulary liked the introduction, with the beautiful bottle presentation, and the perfume description…from the name I would have assumed it was an oriental, spicy one, not a fruity floral…would really love to try it!
I’ve never tried Kajal fragrances, this would be the first

  • Beautiful Bottle and the fragrance itself sounds Nice! Haven’t tried much Kajal but so far Lamar is my favorite. I like that this is like a luscious fruit cocktail as mentioned by Olya. Thanks for the giveaway, Ca

  • Half classy and refined, and half playful and maybe even slightly lustful , i think I can make a statement wearing Almaz .
I like the rose, the citruses, and the tart and mildly sweet fruity base , sophisticated fragrance at its best.
No wonder Almaz means a diamond , uncommon inspiration for a fragrance. Thank for the information Olya ‍♀️
I know Joorie, because my sister in law wears it regularly, but it’s the only Kajal scent I know. High quality spicy sweet rose ,with honey , I like it a lot.

It’s almost like Almaz was made for me , and all other gourmand lovers worldwide.
I love both Tiziana Terenzi Kirke, and Xerjoff , Erba Pura and after reading Olya’s take on Almaz I imagined making, and eating Cassis and Almonds Ganache Cake , drinking bergamot juice, and enjoying time somewhere in Dubai Marina .
It also feels like Almaz is logical continuation of my two favorites from Kajal, Dahab and Lamar.
Being a Pastry Chef I always relate fragrances to some sort of food.
Dahab is really musky, woody and kind of dusty , with mostly natural fruity sweetness. The smell reminds me of eating Granny Smith Mousse Cake with passion fruit, and non candied slices of the apple on top , while sitting next to just cut Cedar Lumber.
Lamar i own , the best Kajal in my opinion, smells like Vanilla Cake with Strawberries and Pineapple , I do it almost every day at my bakery.
I so want to win Almaz, Pastry Chef fragrance
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

Just recently saw a youtube video about this fragrance. I have always wanted to sample Kajal fragrances because I hear they are very sweat and sensual ones. This is no exception. Rose, orris and brown sugar, sign me up! From Romania, EU.

  • Thanks Olya for bringing another creation from Kajal. I fall in love with this brand when tried Lamar. If there the star was the gold through rose and jasmine, here in Almaz is a gemstone, the diamond. How to translate this sparkling brilliance into a scent? Well, with every facet of the cut stone slowly revealing itself: Sparkling and juicy fruitness in the opening with bergamot , blackcurrant and the tart raspberry announcing creamy and embracing florals to finish with musk, wood, vanilla and amber. As Olya say is “an optimistic blend” to give us fun, sensuality and loving hugs. I live in Spain, EU.

  • I was thinking the same thing – the DNA of this composition isn’t any breakthrough and it’s been seen before, but Olya was surprised when first smelled it “The luscious fruit cocktail was a bit of a surprise.” Of course now I’d like to test it…. My favorite Kajal is Yasmina.

  • Olya’s review was enticing, with the introduction about the captivating bottle and the meaning behind the name of the new perfume. I enjoyed Olya’s photos of Almaz, which are minimalistic with the bottle in the center.
I’ve gotten acquainted with Kajal recently, but I have not yet had an opportunity to sample any of them.
    I live in the EU.

  • Thank you Olya. Ajmal sounds wonderful and I was intrigued that you compared it to Kirke which I just sampled recently and really liked. The notes lineup also has most of my favorites so this does sound like a keeper. I’m in USA

  • LeeHino21 says:

Great review Olya! The history of the name and the description of the bottle is my favorite part of the review. Olya does a fantastic job really describing the beauty of the bottle and actually gets me excited to one day see it in person. I also really enjoy Erba Pura so this one is one I can get my nose on soon. My favorite from the brand is Lamar it is just a stunning fragrance and the gold bottle looks amazing also. Thank you for the opportunity to enter the giveaway!

  • Wonderful review. I really loved her description of the gourmand-like notes. I want to drink that healthy fruit smoothie! I have only tried Lamar by KAJAL and it was a bit sweet for my taste. But I have the feeling that I’d love this one. Cheers from NC, USA.

  • Christos GX says:

The fragrance seems awesome, from the gorgeous and mesmerising bottle to the description of the fragrance. I enjoyed the story behind Almaz’s gemstones and the fact that at first from the bottle there was the thought that the fragrance would be green and aldehydic. From the samples i have tried only (Kajal Homme, Homme II and Jihan), Kajal Homme II was my favorite. I live in Greece, Eu.

  • Great review, very informative and descriptive, especially when Olya mentions how the fragrance slowly reveals itself. I love Kajal, especially Lamar and Warde. My favorite is Lamar. Indiana USA

  • i, for one, was expecting something oriental – maybe from all the shiny studs on the cap. wouldn’t mind trying out this beautifully green …gem [!?] :).
haven’t tested out many Kajals, in order to sort out a favourite, such a pitty.

Let me tell you.. It s the first time i am reading a review about a fragrance and my mouth starts watering. The incredible vivid, palpable description of this fragrance DNA …. mouthwatering. It was very interesting learning about the Almaz gem. Never smelled a fragrance from the house but i smelled both Kirke and Erba Pura, and i love them. Thank you for the opportunity! • sephrenia300 says:

Lovely review Olya. What appealed to me about Olya’s review is her description of the unexpected luscious fruit cocktail that transitions into an elegant and sensual floral heart. I generally don’t love fruity fragrances but Olya’s caution to not be too quick to judge from the top notes alone intrigues me.

My favorite perfume from the brand so far is Lamar, but there are many I have not yet tried. I live in the US.

  • Wonderful review as usual Olya! Your sparkling definitive description of Almaz is great 🙂 I did not have the chance to try any fragrance from KAJAL, although it caught my attention several times. The thing that attracted my attention is the beautiful bottle, it is hard to match the notes with the bottle. the bottle gives the impression that the scent would be a little bit dark, eastern and mysterious, but the notes are actually bright, pleasant, citrusy, and fruity. I hope I win this one! greetings from Bosnia 🙂

  • Khalil Nasir says:

I love how Olya describe the fragrances by comparison of Tiziana Terenzi Kirke and Xerjoff Erba Pura by doing so it gave me more of what the fragrance smelled like since I was familiar with those in the past. And that the fragrance gave a sensual presents of a much needed hug which sounds amazing. Durham, NC

  • Regis Monkton says:

I certainly am interested in trying this fragrance. I haven’t tried anything yet from this company, but I’d like to try all of their fragrance releases. I think that the list of notes for this one makes it appealing to me. I want to see what the sparkling fruitiness and the heliotrope in this are like. I live in the U.S.A.

  • Olya!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️Love Love this review!!! Thank you for presenting us with such a precise & realistic description of this scent! I feel like I really know what to expect (which is definitely not always the case with reviews). Almaz sounds lovely & knowing how much I’ve enjoyed Lamar & other Kajal fragrances, I feel super confident knowing I want to try this! ❤️ Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity! USA

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Olya’s review of KAJAL Almaz. I loved learning more about the brand Kajal and the brilliant Moe Khalef which named it Almaz which is Arabic for the word diamonds. I’ve always been mesmorized by the initricate designed and detailed bottles of Kajal Perfumes and this one is no different. Olya describes this as a sensual and flirty fruity and musky style fragrance with similarities to Tiziana Terenzi Kirke and Xerjoff Erba Pura which I love. My current favorite fragrance from Kajal Perfumes is Fiddah. I am from the USA.

  • I would expect a fragrance called Almaz to have a sparkling or effervescent quality. Olya described the opening as a fruity sweetness reminiscent of a healthy drink. However, I am more intrigued by the dry-down as Olya stated it’s creamy and inviting. I wouldn’t have expected Almaz to be that tart either. Overall, Almaz does sound like an optimistic fragrance that would work very well in the summertime. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to try any KAJAL fragrances but I am very intrigued by Warde (it sounds very beautiful). Fiddah sounds quite nice, as well. I would love the opportunity to own a bottle of Almaz. Thank you, Olya, for the review, and thank you to KAJAL for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

  • Heliotrope, Orris, Madagascar Vanilla and Brown sugar surely seem pretty. The bottle is a work of art.
Thank you! Kind regards from Europe.

I tend to believe Almaz will suit me well .The quantity of the perfume is there , and I can’t stop admiring the designer’s work , Kajal hired someone very talented , astonishing work again.
I’ve sampled Kajal Homme II , and Dahab .
Homme II is dressed up fragrance, and Dahab sweet juicy gourmand done really well . Smells natural to me, with nothing artificial in it
Thank you Olya , and Kajal

  • Olya, thank you for the review of Almaz. I appreciate the chemistry lesson about almaz. I like the description of the opening, heart and base of Almaz, sounds like a fragrance I would like. Sweet but not sticky and is kinda tart. Fun and flirtatious with fruity- floral vibes. I heard a lot about Kajal Lamar, so that is one I really want to try.

I have been fascinated by gems since my early years and seeing this astonishing radiant green diamond here has made my heart beat faster. There is a whole separate level of artistry that has gone into creating the bottle for this perfume and I cannot think of a perfume lover who would not be delighted to have this beauty to enjoy via eyes and not the nose only. I like that Olya links the chemical structure of Almaz with the olfactory one, marked by the facets revealing themselves over time. I love the addition of heliotrope and all notes used in the base so I would definitely enjoy Almaz as a joyful and luscious summer fragrance. My favorite from the brand is Lamar. I have the pleasure of knowing most Kajal fragrances, and analyzing Olya Bar opinion, I do believe Almaz is in a way continuation of the fun , going out line of fragrances the house has, particularly Lamar.
Being a vain guy i was so impressed by Sebastian review of Kajal Homme here on Cafleurebon, and bought it ,spectacular fragrance.Homme II is fresh, invigorating, and refined perfume i also own . I love both, but higher compliment factor goes to Kajal Homme II , if you care , I sure do.
Almaz feels a bit younger than Homme and Homme II, still keeping the same posh vibe. The fruitiness, tartness, the sandalwood, i thinking Almaz could become Kajal’s biggest compliment getter , all factors I can’t ignore !!! I need to try Almaz … asap.

    Diamonds last forever, forever….
“Almaz, the Arabic name for diamonds”
Almaz means diamonds on a few languages, Russian included, I’m not sure why Oly of all people skipped this info.
Kajal is getting more and more traction last few years, but still I believe is underrated house , more people need to know their fragrances , they are on pair with brands like Roja Dove
I know all , including the two new creations Fariz , Almaz
If I have to rate my favorite ones
    1.Lamar/Almaz
    2.Dahab
    3.Kajal Homme/Fiddah
Almaz is everything Olya said it is, it’s mouthwatering juicy , sweet and VERY loud. I also get spicy rose , earthy iris and almonds, probably coming from the heliotrope.
