Kajal Faris Review (Urs Castelletti and David Chieze) 2022 + Contemporary Classic Giveaway

Kajal Faris

Kajal Faris by Steven©

My first encounter with Kajal fragrances was at Esxence 2019 where I met Moe Khalef, the owner and creative director of Kajal Perfumes (a truly great man, so humble) and I quickly became a fan.

Kajal bottle stoppers

Kajal’s stoppers were designed by Moe Khalef© photo by KAJAL

He explained art in all its different forms are all sources of inspiration for his perfumes. This is apparent not only in the quality of the perfumes but in the flacons and “signature” intricate stoppers. One of the two newest releases, here  is what Mr. Khalef has to say about his inspiration of Kajal Faris: A masculine name of Arabic origins, Faris means Knight, someone who carries himself with impeccable etiquette yet manifests courage, honor, and loyalty. “We wanted Kajal Faris to embody the definition of strength, respect and courage…for that we went with the silver metalized effect on the bottle, box and cap” -Moe Khalef

Kajal Faris is perfect for the office and according to Steven this might bethe brand’s biggest compliment getter to date. Perfect for the warmer weather and any time you want a versatile fragrance. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I don’t have the pleasure of owning non of these fragrance and by how Steves describes it is awesome

  • baker1128 says:

After reading the article and watching Steve’s review I found the description of the notes very appealing and this bottle coloration very appealing to me I don’t own and Kajal fragrances so just wining this one or any would be great and would definitely wear it so here’s hoping thanks

  • I would love to win Kajal Faris. I really liked Michelyn’s description of classic but young and sweet without being cloying. I also liked Steven’s description of the freshness and masculine/classy lavender notes. I am in CA, USA.

  • Both Michelyn and Steven say the opening is bursting with citrus note and the drydown is more on the sweeter side. Steven adds it also has herbal notes in the middle such as mint and also incorporates other notes like nutmeg. Faris may also remind some of Percival. I am in US.

  • I enjoyed the amazing notes of the fragrance from Steven’s video and the fabulous bottle from Michelyn ‘s Introduction. I would like to win KAJAL Faris. I live in Poland, EU.

  • As usual Steven delivers a great review, always concise but descriptive. I am really intrigued by Moe Khalef‘s description of the fragrance “embodiment of the definition of strength, respect and courage”, I have Lamar and it’s beautiful, so I can’t wait to smell this, it sounds amazing. I would love to win Faris.

  • Starlit12 says:

Very interested by the fact Steven described this as an an “unsolicited compliment getter” which is also a modern and enthusiastic blend of lavender and citruses with a little sweetness at the core. I also appreciated Michelyn summing it up in a few words, as well as explaining the meaning of the word “faris”.
    I live in the EU.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I’d love to win a bottle of Faris. I enjoyed learning that this may be the most complimented fragrance from Kajal, and that its a good choice for spring and summer. Michelyn’s mention of the classic but young and modern flair makes it sound really appealing as well. I live in Maryland USA. I follow cafleurebon on Instagram and my user name is bpwool.

  • hshinkoda says:

I really love Kajal house!!!! They have some of my favorites fragrances!!! Faris seems a perfect spring/summer perfume fresh and citrusy!!!! Even it’s leaning masculine I would love to get my nose in it!!! Following you on Instagram as @hshinkoda. I’m from Massachusetts, US.

  • Logan Simpson says:

I can’t wait to smell this. It sounds amazing and Kajal is always high quality.

  • This sounds like a fragrance that would inspire it’s wearer to exude the qualities of courage honor and loyalty that it’s name represents. The citrus opening with the lavender and subtle sweet and woody background also just sounds like something that I would really enjoy wearing to the office. I would love to win a bottle. Thank you!

  • As always, I loved Steven’s breakdown of the notes snd how they come across to him. Thank you Michelyn for the intro. I love learning the inspiration for the fragrances. I would love to win a bottle of kajal Faris. Thanks for the giveaway. Georgia USA.

  • What I like that Michelyn described Moe Khalef as a great and humble man. Sure, I like fragrances, but when the people behind it are well grounded people that are humble makes me want to support them and buy their product. Steven nails it, as always. I really enjoy Percival so I would most definitely enjoy Faris. Also the fact he points out in his opinion this is the most complimented fragrance in their house is a great thing. I own Kajal Homme and Homme II and love them both. I read about Mr. Matea’s passing earlier this week. That was very sad news to hear, but I thank him for his wonderful contributions to the fragrance world. I’ve also followed the instagram with my handle @cdub5_ . If I won I would choose Faris, for sure! Thank you Kajal for the giveaway and good luck everyone!

I found you via Steve’s Youtube channel; Steve is a key resource for many of us interested in Frags. This KAJAL bottle. The biggest reason is that before Steve’s review, I know nothing about the house. After Steve’s review, I was excited to try it!

  • I alway trust Steven’s review’s.KAJAL Faris sounds wonderful, love the notes. Michelyn’s comment Perfect for the warmer weather. Thank you for this Chance. @maryjeannyc USA

  • So far I have only put my nose on Homme, Homme II and Lamar. I love the density of their fragrances, and I’m hopefully that RNGESUS will bless me this time!

  • I love PDM’s Percival and I’m really interested in how Faris compares to the compliments you get from Percival.

  • Braeden Gann says:

I am so interested to see what this smells like. I am a big fresh lavender fan and this article as well as Steven’s video describe it so well. I would be very interested in receiving a bottle of this juice. Thanks!

  • Hi Michelyn & Steven!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Wonderful introduction & video review!!! I remember the wonderful review of Kajal Lamar here on CaFleurBon and how the wonderful people at Perfumology helped me to find a bottle! I think my husband would love Kajal Faris, as all those fresh & classic notes really suit him (plus he has courage, honor, and loyalty in spades). Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!!! USA

Great review as ever Steven. The house of Kajal has always intrigued me but I’ve never smelled any of their creations. This seem right up my alley in terms of notes and the bottle is absolutely stunning. Thanks for the chance, appreciate y’all!

  • Both reviews were great as always! I enjoyed the intro by Michelyn, describing what Faris is meant to embody, which is really powerful! And I enjoyed Steven’s review really going in depth about the beautiful blend of these notes with the citrus abs lavender really appealing to me. I would love to win Faris! Thank you!

Art unlocks the souls of those that seek beauty in its greatest form.

I love how Moe Khalef fragrances are inspired by art in all of its forms. That to me is the key ingredient that makes his fragrances stand above other fragrance creators.

What stood out to me in Stevens video is that unlike most fresh scents that have hints of lemon in its DNA Kajal Faris does not. That in its own right is unique and set apart from other spring and summer fragrances. I also look forward to see how the scent of rose is integrated in the complexity of Kajal Faris.

I would be honored to have Kajal Faris as a part of my fragrance collection.

I follow you on your new Instagram page. My username is garykerr19799791.

  • liberation says:

I follow your new page @cafleurebonofficial as @liberating_me, and I didn’t have a chance to smell any of Kajal fragrances (to my knowledge at least), but I’m very interested in Lamar, Kajal, Almaz and of course Faris. Description of Faris opening with a mix of citruses and lavander sounds right in my ally, and the fact the the rose is not that pronounced but that nutmeg is the most noticeable spice give a feeling of nicely fresh but cozy fragrance. Located in Austria, EU

  • From my understanding, Kajal is usually heavy and resinous. Because of Steven, I’ve been wanting to get Lamar, and him saying that Faris beats it is amazing. I like the idea that Faris is fresh and would be more like an office wear or everyday wear. Also, I wouldn’t mind getting compliments.

Kajal fragrances are so aromatic and sweet, they actually kinda make me hungry! I also enjoy any and all rose based fragrances. This is a great opportunity! Thank you and good luck to everyone. From Romania, EU.

  • RiccardoC says:

I loved how Michelyn described the botte in detail and Steven’s description of the note…the opening, the fresh notes of lavander and the sweet part of the perfume seems really interesting.
Would love to try it, also because I’ve never tried this brand
    Riccardo from Italy, EU

  • From the opening it was nice to hear of Mr. Khalef’s inspirations. From the video I was pleased to hear the rose does not overshadow the lavender. I’m not sure what it means when I read, “(name as many as you would like but you can only win one, be specific please)”. I only see Faris as an option will if chosen I’d gladly welcome. US

  • Laurentiu says:

Thanks for the great reviews on this house! I know I have seen quite a few here, on the blog.
Faris looks interesting and perfect for summer. A modern and aromatic mix suitable for every gender.

  • This bottle is beautiful! Love the vintage motif. I find the sweet-not-too-sweet description appealing and appreciate how in depth Steven gets. USA

  • Bryant Worley says:

Michelyn’s review was excellent, especially since she was able to talk to the Creative Director of the brand, getting his thoughts on the fragrance. Steven was very good with his review (as he always is, IMHO). His review almost sounded oxymoronic when he was singing the fragrances praises, and then said it was “nondescript”. But his description of it as “Masculine, refined, modern and contemporary”, as well as its potentially being a huge compliment getter, has my attention.

I follow you guys on IG: @Brygantor_1, and live at Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

  • Michelyn’s intro intrigued me, and Steven’s review sealed the deal. I am always on the lookout for this style of fragrance, especially for hot Las Vegas summers. I follow CaFleureBon on IG as Neefast. NV, USA.

  • Steven mentioned that it could remind people of PDM Percival. While I’ve never tried Percival, it’s often compared to a niche qualify Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce which I do adore. I would love to sample this at the very least, although I have a feeling I’ll more than likely be a fan of this fragrance!

  • I liked Michelyn’s introduction of Kajal Faris and the quote by Kajal founder and their inspiration behind Kajal Faris. It seems to be a very elegant perfume indeed. I have never tried Kajal perfumes, unfortunately, so I don’t have any favorites from this brand. I am a Redolessence subscriber and enjoy Steven’s video reviews. I liked Michelyn’s description of Faris being sweet without being cloying. I also liked Steven’s description of the freshness and masculine notes in this perfume. Thanks for the reviews and draw. I am in the USA.

  • As always Steven’s review was thorough. Kajal Faris sounds like a gentlemanly fragrance with a classy vibe. Unique but accessible. Pleasant and a good scent for an office environment. It seems like it would be one that would garner a lot of complements.

  • GennyLeigh says:

I think of lavender as an old fashioned scent but the addition of the citrus and apple gives it a modern flair. The spices, floral notes and amber seem to round it out. I’ve never smelled this one before but Kajal is a quality line so I’ve no doubt it’s well composed. MD, USA.

  • Greg Graham Sr says:

Hello Steven and Cafleurebon, thank you for that great video and review. I Love the name meaning Knight and Apple and Lavender sounds Devine. I would be honored to win. Thank you

  • Thanks for this wonderful article Michelyn and thanks to Steven for the in-depth review!

After I was born, my mom painted a picture of a knight called ‘Knight Ronald’ for on my bedroom wall. It was a knight in shining armour on a white horse, with his sword drawn, ready to charge into battle.
I don’t know if looking up at the painting from my crib sparked an interest in medieval times, but I have always enjoyed playing with wooden swords and spend many hours reading fantasy and historical literature of anything that involved knights.

Anytime I hear Steven praise a fragrance I know I need to try it! His comprehensive descriptions and in-depth reviews always help me understand what to expect. I feel confident that I will enjoy Faris as much as Steven does.

    Greetings from the UK!

  • So classy, so refined, so elegant , i think I can make a statement wearing Faris. I like the rose, the citruses, and the tart and mildly sweet base , sophisticated fragrance at its best.
No wonder Faris means a knight, uncommon inspiration for a fragrance. Thank for the information Michelyn ‍♀️
I know Joorie, because my sister in law owns it, but that’s the only Kajal scent I know. High quality spicy sweet rose ,with honey , I like it a lot.
    Thanks for the draw
    USA

  • Firstly, I loved Mr. Khalef’s inspiration of Kajal Faris. I imagined Faris as a perfect scent for a well- groomed businessperson who is fearless, impeccable in their style and, behaves with utmost courtesy. Michelyn’s short review indicated Faris is just to my and my husband’s liking.

Secondly, after watching Steven’s video review I felt convinced that we are going to order it if we do not win a draw, since it seems to be a perfect fragrance for upcoming summer. My husband is an avid collector of citrus fragrances and I am a huge admirer of more tarnish fragrances, so I am particularly interested how apple mingles with other notes in the opening. Fresh and vibrant citrus opening, a modern rose heart and warm base sound like an unique and likable fragrance. I have to admit that I love fragrances that are liked by other people around me, too.

Thank you, Steven and Michelyn, for a great introduction to a new release and Kayal to a generous giveaway. Greetings from Slovenia (EU).

I’m glad Michelyn pointed out it’s sweet, but not cloying. I’m getting burned out on the heavy fragrances. And Steven is a fan of this house so it’s saying something if he thinks this will be their biggest compliment getter.

  • I love how Michelyn uses the phrase “ mélange of bright citruses” just a beautiful way to describe the opening. Stephen, of course, gives a wonderful full review. I love the presentation on this one!

  • I am a fan of Kajal parfums but I haven’t tried all of their offerings yet. Love the look of the bottles and they have really nice scents as well. I like how Faris is based on a Knight/Warrior and hope to get a chance to try this and Almaz. Enjoyed the review. Thanks for the draw, ca

  • A melange of bright citruses, apple and lavender surely is something unique in this fragrance. I love Kajal, being Dahab my favorite one, I hope I get to smell this soon. Great review by Steven and a clear introduction by Mychelin.
I loved how this fragrance is still a magnet of compliments and classic at the same time.

Loved the review! Kajal Faris sounds fascinating for me, expecially that it started to be so warm where i live. I love that the name means knight, power, and the fragrance is fresh, modern, compliment getting. That states that not just sweet, in your face fragrances can be a beast. Steven, as always an incredible youtuber and that passion of his is what makes me watch every video he makes. I am in EU.

  • wandering_nose says:

Thank you both, Michelyn and Steven, for introducing me to the new fragrance from Kajal! I have been after male fragrances more than female ones recently and I need to say love the note structure. Lavender adding the classy sophistication, gentlemanly vibe. Tonka bean giving off the ambery vibe along with vanilla and sandalwood. Extremely happy to see my beloved patchouli in the base as well. I like how Steven emphasizes Kajal creations as quality fragrances and how he sees Faris high up there with the compliment factor. I wear fragrances for myself mostly but then, compliments can serve as a good reminder that the dark days of separation are over. And that goes well with wearing Faris in the office environment. I follow @cafleurebonofficial on IG under the name of _cathy_reilly_. Thank you from Dublin, Republic of Ireland, EU

  • petergigov says:

I have the pleasure of knowing most Kajal fragrances, and analyzing Michelyn and Steven opinions, I do believe Faris is in a way continuation of the classy line of fragrances the house has, particularly Homme and Homme II.
Being a vain guy i was so impressed by Sebastian review of Kajal Homme here on Cafleurebon, and also his claims it’s one of the best masculine fragrances on the market .
Sampled it , and bought it a few days after. Spectacular fragrance.Homme II is fresh, invigorating, and refined perfume i also own . I love both, but higher compliment factor goes to Kajal Homme II , if you care , I sure do.
Faris feels a bit younger than Homme and Homme II, still keeping the same posh vibe.
The fruitiness, tartness, both Michelyn and Steven thinking Faris is probably Kajal’s biggest compliment getter , all factors I can’t ignore !!! I need to try … asap.
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

Enjoy the review of this fragrance! I can’t wait to get my nose on it!

  • I have had the pleasure of testing out a handful of Kajal Perfumes’ releases and Faris sounds like it might too all of the others (at least for myself and what I like in fragrances). Indeed, Steven did (much as he always does) such a fantastic job of hyping this one up and really driving home many of the things that I look for in perfumery. Accessible, modern, masculine, fresh, and compliment-getting are absolutely some of my favorite buzz words when it comes to the kind of fragrances that I gravity towards. On the other hand, one also has to appreciate the absolute beauty and artistry that is Kajal Perfumes. You would be hard pressed to find many other houses who consistently release fragrances with such beautiful presentation and unique design. Each and every bottle is a work of art in itself and Faris is certainly no different in that regard. I love that Michelyn reiterated this fact when speaking on the design of the flacons and their iconic stoppers. Would love to try Faris so thanks, as always for the opportunity and cheers from Illinois, USA!

I’m always intrigued by contemporary takes on classic DNAs, and Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews do suggest that this is one such offering – a twist of apple on top of a citrus-aromatic backbone sounds unique! I’d love to try this 🙂

  • I loved Steven’s review. And since he sees a similarity to Percival, I know I would love this. I own a sample of PdM Percival and love it on both myself and my boyfriend. I’ve never tried any fragrances from Kajal so this would be a wonderful way to start with the perfume house!
    I live in the USA.

  • Kajal’s bottles are stellar and it was great to learn that he designs them. I am looking for a great frag for my husband for Father’s Day, and FARIS is at the top of the list

  • I dig the bottle from this house and I think they would look good on any shelf. As for the perfume inside, I have not got the chance to try anything yet, but I would love to. Thanks! EU

  • I found it interesting from Michelyn that the word Faris means “knight,” I really liked the story behind this fragrance. I liked Steven’s description of the freshness and the fact that he thinks this will be a great compliment getter. And of course, the bottle looks incredible. Thanks for the great review Steven!

Kajal always has beautiful presentation. I also love the name and the brief on this fragrance This sounds like a really nice fresh take on a fougere.

It’s cool to hear about how the apple plays in with the sweeter notes in the base.

  • I like how Michelyn describes the owner of Kajal and his inspirations.
Steven from Redolessence has again made an interesting video and I liked the notes he mentioned such as a lot of citrus (lemon, orange, bergamot), clary sage, lavender, nutmeg, clove, among others.
    I live in EU.

  • TriumphAnt says:

Kajal Faris sounds like the ultimate dumb reach fragrance for me. The notes from the introduction and review look great. Steven’s review made it seem mass appealing and in the style of Percival. Kajal Homme is one I really enjoy from this house so I am looking forward to eventually trying Faris.

  • jaysmells says:

I appreciated that both Michelyn and Steven remarked on this being a contemporary gentleman’s fragrance. I’m very interested in the lavender and clary sage here—sage has become my new obsession in fragrances. Above all, I have to say I was completely swayed by Steven saying this might be Kajal’s biggest compliment-getter!

  • Uncle1979 says:

There are quite a few Kajal fragrances i like, and two that I love , Dahab and Lamar.
Dahab is really musky, woody and kind of dusty , with mostly natural fruity sweetness. The smell reminds me of eating Granny Smith Mousse Cake with passion fruit, and non candied slices of the apple on top , while sitting next to just cut Cedar Lumber.
Lamar, the best Kajal in my opinion, smells like Vanilla Cake with Strawberries and Pineapple , I do it almost every day at my bakery.
Faris to me is different than Dahab , and Lamar, upscale , polished around the edges fragrance i can wear on more dressed up occasions.
Courage, honor and loyalty are words , that I rarely hear , good to know Moe Khalef embodied such characteristics himself, and for his fragrances.
Since being a Pastry Chef I relate all fragrances to some sort of food, when watching Steven’s video, i also thought about making some Lemon And Lavender Madeleines .
Appreciate Michelyn introduction, Steven’s review, and the giveaway campaign

Kajal is a brand that I’m intrigued by as they have come to prominence with a few of their offerings yet I haven’t sampled them. As is always the case, Stephen’s comprehensive review gives a good sense of what you’re going to get with this offering…a versatile, compliment-getting lavender fragrance. Michelyn’s characterization of this fragrance as classis, yet young and modern is right in my wheelhouse. I hope to win this one and do appreciate the generosity of the giveaway. Blessings from VA, USA!

  • joetelegram says:

I really like how Michelyn describes the citrus, apple, and lavender combination as pushing a sort of “young and modern flair” and how Steven brings up the fact that Kajal Faris takes on a masculine vibe. I am also finding that I am a fan of fragrances that come across as tart, so that tidbit especially stood out to me. I also appreciate how Moe Khalef brings up the fact that this fragrance speaks to a masculinity that combines etiquette with courage and honor.

I’m in tailoring business, and liked all I heard about Faris, from both Michelyn and Steven.
Very classy, very refined, very gentlemanly fragrance, with some playful sweetness in the base.I tend to believe Faris will suit me well.
The quantity of the perfume is there , but like Michelyn said “the flacons and “signature” intricate stoppers” are present too.
Whoever designer Kajal hired for creating the design of the bottles , astonishing work , If I have to rate the bottles alone 10/10 .
I’ve sampled Kajal Homme II , and Dahab .
Homme II is dressed up fragrance, and Dahab sweet juicy gourmand done really well . Smells natural to me, with nothing artificial in it , which is rare for gourmands
    Thank you Michelyn, and Kajal

Dahab I know, it smells like picnic basket full of fruits , juiciness and other surprises.
Faris sounds like a mixture of high end casual, and a business meetings fragrance. Fresh and clean start , citrusy, woody and rose. The addition of sweetness is making it even more versatile.
The bottle design is fantastic , no doubt.
“Lady Boss” expression Michelyn used last year Is so stuck in my head . Fits me , and Faris really well

Wonderful review! What I enjoyed about Kajal Faris from Michelyn’s introduction was learning that the inspiration of the fragrance is the Arabic origins of the name, Faris, which means Knight, and the embodiment of the perfect balance of strength, courage, honor, and refined etiquette. That definitely sounds like a worthy concept to try to capture in fragrance, and one that interests me very much.

What I enjoyed about Kajal Faris from Steven’s video is how the lavender heart combines with the citrus opening to contribute a masculine, refined, sophisticated, and gentlemenly repose. I appreciate how he describes the lavender accord because those are the typical feelings and connotations that lavender bring to my mind. It’s nice to hear that the notes of this fragrance come across the same way I would expect person, as that is not always the case. I am a Redolessence subscriber and I live in the US.

“A masculine name of Arabic origins, Faris means Knight, someone who carries himself with impeccable etiquette yet manifests courage, honor, and loyalty.”

Not exactly , there could very well be a wider meaning in modern day Arabic , I get that , but fāris means a horsemen, not a knight , since faras is a horse.
A knight has to be a horsemen, but not every horsemen is a knight.
To oversimplify , every fāris and a knight had to do go through a long training, and to be sufficient in warfare on horses , and to follow in a way similar chivalric code , but a knight for the most part had to be born of nobility – traditionally sons of knights or lords , but fāris were either free men , or slave soldiers, or mercenaries….
    Back to the original topic
Kajal is getting more and more traction last few years, but still I believe is underrated house , more people need to know their fragrances . I’ve smelled or sampled all , except for the two new creations Fariz , Almaz
If I have to rate my favorite ones
    1.Lamar
    2.Dahab
    3.Kajal Homme/Fiddah
Faris I think is classically structured woody aromatic, with some modern touches implemented into the composition
. I can’t wait to get my samples i ordered.
It’s interesting how Michelyn thinks the sweetness is more pronounced, we’ll see.
By the way I’m wearing another Kajal right now- Fiddah.
Just followed @davkze , all other profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • I really enjoyed how Steven explained this fragrance. It’s popped up in multiple of his top 10 lists which makes Kajal Faris very appealing to me!
