On Saturday, April 5th, New York City experienced unseasonably cool and rainy Spring temperatures, but this did not dampen the passion of the fully attended event, the 37the edition!!!. Our starting point, Elizabeth Street, smelled alluring. The eleven participating stores were prepared for the group’s fragrant enthusiasm. Three new stores were added to the rotation: Commodity Fragrances, Granado, and Amouage.

Malin + Goetz downtown NYC

Malin + Goetz Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

The Spring Fling kicked off at 10 am at Malin + Goetz. The entire skin, hair, and body product line was well displayed. The brand has a collection of luxury fragrances and candles inspired by traditional apothecary ingredients. Two new home fragrances were launched this year, the Otto and Sage Home Spray. Both are the first alcohol-free home sprays with odor-neutralizing technology that transforms unwanted smells into refreshing clean scents. All the products are made locally, and only the highest quality natural ingredients are used. Best, they are never tested on animals.

LE LABO Soho

LE LABO Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

Le Labo‘s Flagship boutique’s atmosphere is pure artisanal, and its quintessential fragrance and candle collections are all on display. The attentive staff had their hands complete with a large group this morning. The brand’s most recent release, EUCALYPTUS 20, had many comparing the notes of Eucalyptus, leathercedarlabdanummusk, and frankincense. The ancillary line of laundry wash, and Body-Hair-Face, is on par with the fragrant counterparts. The adjacent extension fills the grooming and beauty requirements for men. Le Labo is a significant destination to experience.

Korres, one of Greece’s iconic beauty brands, has been producing skincare since 1996. It’s internationally renowned for its all-natural line of cosmetics and grooming products, the seed-to-skin brand focuses on clean, ingredient-first Greek beauty formulations. Everything is sourced exclusively from Greece, supporting Greek farmers. Korres is certified by Peta.

The Naxos Apothecary and Korres Retail Manager, Shannah Pryatel, conversing with John Bressler, Founder of LAFCO New York Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

The Naxos Apothecary, directly across the street, is the sister boutique to Korres. Retail Manager for both stores, Shannah Pryatel, was engaged, showing the exquisite, luxurious, natural fragrances that evoke the history, culture, heritage, and endemic flora of the Aegean Island of Naxos. Interwoven with scientific expertise in phytotherapy, this sophisticated apothecary offers personalized herbal cosmetic remedies and soulful storytelling through fragrances and candles.

Scent Bar store manager, Vijay Uttam, with co-workers Madison Gates and Lance Valadie

Scent Bar store manager, Vijay Uttam, with co-workers Madison Gates and Lance Valadie Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

Luckyscent’ retail store, ScentBar, anchors Elizabeth Street as the primary destination for scent enthusiasts. Fragrance specialist and store manager Vijay Uttam and his knowledgeable staff welcomed us into their sanctuary of scent. They are always spot on with their suggestions for just the right scent from their old, new, and upcoming selections of top-notch independent niche brands. Their store’s selection of fragrances and candles is unmatched. Customers were drawn to Eladaria Eau de Parfum by Creed, Kimono Eau de Parfum by d’Annam, and Torino24 Eau de Parfum by Xerjoff – Join the Club among many.

Mizensir on Prince Street is a magnificent boutique that highlights the creations of Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas. General Manager, Jennifer DiCesare, and staff presented the extensive and impressive collection of fragrances and candles captivated all. Two new releases, Legend Leather (a masculine-leaning modern take on Leather) and Palissandre Night (Sandalwood forward, feminine-leaning) received many compliments.

Olfactory NYC downtown NYC

Olfactory NYC Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

The Olfactory NYC store on Mott Street is a popular destination for a younger demographic of scent lovers, due in part to the fragrances created by top perfumers at a fraction of the cost and the ambiance. The customization and personalization program allows the scents to be styled to personal specifications and bottled on-site, ensuring a freshly made creation every time. The recent expansion to Atlanta, Miami, and a second Washington, DC., boutique proves the business model is right on target.

Granado Prince Street

Granado Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

Granado’s second Manhattan boutique opened at the end of last year on Prince Street. I do not believe there is a more colorful fragrance store! It’s like entering a lush, tropical forest. The classy, feminine, ambery vanilla Esplendor (Gabriela Maldonado) is the brand’s most recent offering. Besides fragrance, the SoHo outpost of Brazil’s oldest perfumery, which dates back to 1870, stocks skincare, cosmetics, and home goods.

Commodity Fragrances on Crosby Street

Commodity Fragrances Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

The new Commodity Fragrance store on Crosby Street opened late last year, was a major draw for the group. Store manager Bryson Ammons and Mason Reed had all the scent enthusiasts fully immersed in the brand ethos and experience the innovative Scent Space blends. I highly recommend exploring the Archives Fragrances while they are available and the new Luxe Candles. Milk was a clear winner. Welcome to the scent ‘hood!

D.S. & Durga Fragrance Foundation Winner 2025

 D.S. & Durga Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

On Mulberry Street is husband-and-wife duo David (D.S.) and Kavi (Durga) of D.S. & Durga boutique. They bring their passion for music, art, travel, and design and wrap it into all elements of their brand. The scents, candles, and the design of their uber-hip stores reflect their ethos. Just released is Brown Flowers, which in short order has risen to become a top seller. A second D.S.& Durga boutique opened in Silver Lake (Los Angeles), complementing their Venice (Los Angeles) location. Congratulations on winning the 2025 Fragrance Foundation’s Innovative Fragrance Product of the Year for the Murder Mystery Set!

Lunch at Little Italy’s La Mela is a five-course affair paired with a line-up of nine speakers. Buon appetito!

Euphorium Brooklyn

Stephen Dirkes presenting Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

Perfumer Stephen Dirkes (Euphorium Brooklyn) and Isabelle Slinger, of The Tower Estate’s set their 3rd Sniffapalooza Edition to the Island of Grenada for April 25- 29th. The theme for this trip is “French Heritage.” The Tower Estate features curated garden tours of floral, citrus, spices, fruits, herbs, and grasses used in perfumery. The pairings, tastings, and delicious palate training are exceptional. Having attended the inaugural trip, and can highly recommend the trip for a fragrant one-of-a-kind scent fest. The customized, private, small-group tour is limited to twenty. The Spice Isle of the Caribbean waits for you.

Nils Beeman, President of North America for Trudon, presented the exquisite floral woody fragrance Absolu EDP (Antoine Lie). Nils spoke expertly on Trudon’s illustrious history as a brand, which is constantly evolving in the present. As the former royal wax manufacturer for the royal families until the French Revolution, Trudon helped create glorious and enchanting moments at the Versailles castle with its candles. The scent comes with green and floral notes inspired by the legendary gardens of Versailles. Their motto, which you can read on their emblem, is “Deo Regique Laborant”, which means: the bees work for God and the King.

Alexis Wintrob, Author of Za Za’s Scent-Sational Super Power, discovered her passion for writing children’s books through her experience in perfumery at Procter & Gamble. Working alongside fellow STEM professionals, she was inspired to conceive a story about a young girl’s journey to create magical scents. It uses hands-on STEM activities to spark children’s curiosity about the science of scent when they follow their nose!

Hez Binkowitz, Founder and perfumer of Hez Parfums

Hez Binkowitz of Hez Parfums at Spring Fling 2025

Much has changed for Hez Binkowitz and Hez Parfums since his last Spring Fling presentation. They released a new chypre fragrance, Jackson Square extrait de parfum, which is inspired by the vibrant street artists and performers of Jackson Square in New Orleans. Notes include blueberry, coriander, violet leaf, black peppercannabis, Bulgarian rose, lily of the valley, patchouli, bourbon vanillasandalwoodambergris, and musk. The entire Hez Parfum collection is now available in both 50ml and 10ml bottle sizes, and the bottles and packaging have been upgraded to reflect a more luxurious standard. Hez recently released Fantaśia Eau de Parfum in collaboration with recording artist Daniela Milagros from Argentina, to accompany her new hit single of the same name. And if that wasn’t enough, Hez started perfuming for Tempus Vitae Parfums. His first fragrance for them, High Tea, debuted in March 2025. Hez has also started to offer bespoke fragrance services.

Karen Dubin presented three fragrances from Essential Parfums (2018): Bois Impérial (Quentin Bisch), Nice Bergamote (Antoine Maisondieu), and Orange X Santal (Natalie Gracia-Cetto). Founded by industry veteran Géraldine Archambault, Essential Parfums puts fragrance and the perfumers’ talents at the heart of its creative process, eliminating unnecessary packaging, marketing, and commercial intermediaries whenever possible. She incorporated sustainable development as a core principle of her creative philosophy. She achieved her ideal balance: exceptional, sustainable fragrances at fair prices.

Nate Jenkins, Founder of NJJ Fragrances and custom tailor, presented his inaugural scent, Whiskey & Smoke (Justin Frederico). With notes of whiskey, leathertobacco, and wood, it’s meant to transport you to a yesteryear of bespoke suits, a chilled martini, and a hot streak on a cool Vegas night.

Fragrance Specialist David Ecker

Fragrance Specialist David Ecker presenting at Sniffapalooza Spring Fling 2025

David Ecker presented two new releases: Oud Nebula by The Harmonist and L Red Tea Vetiver by Clive Christian. With much passion and with much enthusiasm, David described each scent in explicit detail. Oud Nebula by The Harmonist (Guillaume Flavigny) is a classy modern Oud that highlights the rich intricacy of the interplay of the amber and oud. A Bulgarian Rose gives it freshness. Other notes include saffrontonka beansandalwood, and cedar. David described it as an amazing everyday buttery wearable oud fragrance that’s not overpowering and lifts your spirit. Rare, precious, and unique. L Red Tea Vetiver by Clive Christian launched in late January this year. From the Private Collection. David described it as a statement, a sensory journey, a bold expression of sophistication. Notes include bergamontvetiversandalwood, and musk.

Two post-lunch stops were highly anticipated and worth walking off the generous lunch: the new Amouage Petite Boutique and Trudon’s jewel box boutique.

Amouage Petite Boutique Spring Fling 2025

Amouage Petite Boutique Spring Fling 2025

The Amouage Petite Boutique, their first in NYC, made its debut at the very end of 2024, and it marks the second global installment of the Amouage Petite Boutique permanent concept. From the Omani Desert to SoHo, the boutique has a look of its own. Scents that impressed were Guidance 46Purpose 50 (both by Quentin Bisch), and from The Essences Collection, Reason (Bertrand Duchaufour) and Lustre (Julien Rasquinet and Paul Guerlain). A great addition to the scent neighborhood. Welcome to New York!

Trudon, founded in 1643, is the world’s oldest candle manufacturer and is still producing hand-crafted masterpieces at their atelier in Normandy today. The boutique gives all a chance to luxuriate in the essence of the legendary candle creations and explore the Eaux de Parfums. The latest candle and diffuser launch of Altaïr, a wonderful oud and rose (Émilie Bouge), and the exquisite floral woody fragrance Absolu EDP (Antoine Lie) were clear standouts for the group.

  • This post has me grinning like I just caught a whiff of fresh nutmeg! As someone from the Caribbean, with Grenada just a stone’s throw from my own island, the theme of French heritage wrapped in the scents of spices, citrus, and florals really hits home. A scent fest in Grenada? Yes please! I can almost smell the magic already. CL – Texas

  • As a Texas dad who enjoys leaning into that rugged, masculine vibe, Legend Leather sounds right up my alley. I can already imagine how good that Mizensir boutique must smell—leather, sandalwood, and a whole lot of class. Would love to get my hands on a sample and soak it all in! VP – Texas

Very Musc sounds whispers a sweet shout…yes a shout that is calling my name. I love that energy. For my guy? Legend Leather is giving smooth operator with a side of ‘who is THAT?’ energy. Manifesting that goodie bag—because smelling amazing should be a team sport!

I have not attended any of the Sniffapalooza events but they looks like a lot of fun. Love the variety of brands and scents presented during the event as well. The Amouage petit boutique looks absolutely breathtaking and I must definitely stop by the next time I am in New York. Another standout was the Trudon store and Commodity was already in my radar to visit. I always love reading articles like this one because you get to discover an array of different scents for everyone to enjoy. I’m located in CON USA.

  • I am very envious of such an excursion. From the perfumes smelled and the shops visited to the lunch and the speakers, it sounds like an amazing experience. I would love to win the swag bag. In maryland.

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

I enjoyed reading about Le Labo and their most recent release called Eucalyptus 20. Le Labo is a company that I love to sample whenever possible. I love to sample all kinds of fragrances, and winning a swag bag would be an amazing prize. I live in Maryland USA.

  • I had never heard of Sniffapalooza until reading this post! It sounds like a joyous scent adventure for fragrance lovers! So many amazing experiences, people, and places! I have only ever sampled one Mizensir fragrance and would love to try another such as Palissandre Night — but also am itching to try one of the Commodity fragrances — or have a first sniff of Brazilian perfumery with Granado’s Esplendor…. so many wonderful things to try! From MA.

  • I have never been to a Sniffapalooza event, and boy, do I envy those of you who have! What an incredible experience! I wish the Fragrance Alliance Network had a Chicago outpost. Perhaps someday!

Seeing that Korres was one of the stops prompted me to put a bottle of their Ginger Lime body cleanser on my shopping list. And there was another important reminder for me in the D.S. & Durga coverage: I need to try Brown Flowers!

    Many thanks, Hernando!
    I am in Chicago, USA.

  • Marcia Lins says:

Wow, so many fabulous sounding scents and so many cognizant, thoughtful and progressive perfumers! I wish I’d been able to go to this, it sounds amazing. Eucalyptus 20 and Whiskey and Smoke are especially intriguing, as is Oud Nebula. Everything on the page sounds amazing, and the descriptions in the writing are excellent for getting across a suggestion of what they must be like to experience. Thanks for bringing us a taste of the event.

  • Never been to a Sniffapalooza Spring Fling, but thank you for the detailed report! Will check out Van Dang’s line. Have also heard lots about Hez, so going to look into that brand as well. Trudon’s Versailles candle sounds like a mass-appealing fresh scent for summer. Wish I had a Trudon store near me. CA USA

  • Le Labo and Amouage are my two favourite brands and I try to get my hands on a sample of any new release as soon as it comes out. Having said that I must cheer “GO KORRES!!!” because that brand makes me proud as a Greek for their evolution while maintaining their origins – it started from a small apothecary and now you can find their products around the globe (excellent skin care btw)
Bag of samples is THE best present a fume head can hope for. Thanks ÇaFleureBon!

  • This sounds like a great learning experience. So many special unique brands. I love Amouage and hope to visit the NY boutique. I also enjoy Korres, Commodity, Lelabo and many other brands mentioned. I got a sample of red tea vetiver a beautiful tea scent. I would love to experience this one day. I love how the review included so many perfumery and houses that deserve more recognition. I learn about new scents by reading these articles. I like that the article brought some new fragrances and brands to my attention such as Kim-Van Dang and the perfume farm to fragrance oils. Hi there,

Much love to the Sniffapalooza crowd and I’m sorry I couldn’t join in. I’ve been 2 or three times in the past, and it has always been such a joy. I loved reading about Karen Dubin’s presentation on Essential Parfums; this brand has been popping up on me lately and eventually I will not be able to resist its charms! I also found it funny that the other day I was trying a sample of Flower by Kenzo, created by Alberto Morillas, and here we are years later able to celebrate his accomplishments in a dedicated boutique. I look forward to a free afternoon this summer to explore the shops featured. Thank you very much. Such great inspiration, and letting some joy out of the bottle at a time when we could all use a little boost.

    Deborah

  • My favorite part is discovering new perfumers and I’m most excited to try Jackson Square. Thank you. Seattle

  • teatreesoil says:

Wow, what a busy day! I’m actually really thrilled to hear about Le Labo’s new release Eucalyptus 20 as I have gotten my best friend to join me in dabbling in fragrances, and her favorite scent is eucalyptus. So far we haven’t found many eucalyptus forward fragrances, most notably D.S. & Durga’s Big Sur Eucalyptus, so I think we will have to make a trip to the Le Labo store (luckily there’s one in DC close to me) to get our noses on this new release! I am also curious in Van Deng Perfumes and will have to hope my local Neiman Marcus has Veldt and Solaire in stock!
I am starting to plan out stops on a future NYC trip, and this review has put several more locations on the list… Grenada, Commodity of course, Mizensir, Scentbar, and D.S. & Durga all sound like must visits!

  • Sniffapalooza Sounds like I would be a kid In a candy shop. I love these type of events. Also Le Labo is one of my favorite houses ever.
    I live Bergamont22 and another 13

  • sillage4ever says:

I would give my left arm for a blueberry-forward chypre scent like Jackson Square extrait hints to be. Truly many goodies promised by this entire exquisite fling, tantalizing for sure, much appreciation for the write up.

Never been before, and Hez Parfums has me interested the most. In the USA, thanks for the heads up on what’s coming our way in the perfume world.

  • I especially loved reading about the Mizensir boutique in Hernando’s report, and the new Palissandre Night sounds right up my alley! I’ve never attended a Sniffapalooza event before, but would absolutely love to experience the fragrance community firsthand. I’m in NC, USA and would be thrilled to sample these niche beauties!

  • Hernando’s detailed descriptions have me itching to book a trip to NYC! I’ve never been to a Sniffapalooza event but certainly would’ve loved to experience that Grenado Esplendor fragrance with its ambery vanilla notes… living in the south, I’m always looking for sophisticated fragrances that work well in our warm climate.
    Contiguous US!

  • What stood out to me in Hernando’s report was learning about Fragrance Alliance Network’s educational programs – I had no idea there were dedicated spaces in NYC where fragrance enthusiasts could learn to train their nose and study perfume history! As someone in the suburbs who’s never attended a Sniffapalooza event, I’m particularly excited to try the Trudon Absolu EDP that was showcased- floral woody is my jam lol!
    CON USA 🙂

  • Some interesting highlights here—EUCALYPTUS 20 combines a surprising medley of notes, Whiskey & Smoke is wonderfully nostalgic, Olfactory NYC looks like a blast, and I’m intrigued by Alexis Wintrob’s presentation about youth STEM education. Also, a good reminder to check out Hez Binkowitz’s Tempus Vitae High Tea.

    I’m in the CON USA.

  • The Tower Estate’s fragrance trip to Grenada sounds absolutely magical my goodness – garden tours with the flowers, spices and plants used in perfumery would be such an incredible experience! I’ve never attended Sniffapalooza but would love to someday. From USA, I think I’m most excited to sample Essential Parfums’ sustainable creations
