I am the beginning, the end, the one who is many. I am the Borg.” The Borg Queen, “Star Trek Next Generation: First Contact Movie”- November 22, 1996

ÇaFleureBon x Aether Arts Perfume cyBorg Queen is the first post-modern “Queen” in the “Queen Series (White Queen, Red Queen, Dark Queen, Drama Queen, Warrior Queen and Pirate Queen) and was created to commemorate ÇaFleureBon’s 13th anniversary on March 22, 2023.

Alice Krige originated the role of the Borg Queen via IMDB

ÇaFleureBon’s Editor-in-Chief, Michelyn Camen, enlisted award-winning perfumer Amber Jobin of Aether Arts Perfumes with a creative brief expertly matched to Amber’s aesthetic approach. Inspired by their mutual love of all the Star Trek series and movies, they found the Borg Queen to be a natural fit. Her cyborg body, part machine and part flesh, is both beautiful and monstrous. From outside the collective, she is seen as a futuristic Frankenstein. Amber’s vision was to create a paradigm shift and invokes the view of the Borg Queen as seen by her collective, from the inside, a perspective from within the hive. It was a natural meeting of the minds. As Amber describes, “within highly organized, collective insect communities, status is conferred by pheromones. The queen is the queen because she has queen pheromones. This special scent is wielded by only one female and it is she who rules the hive. The queen’s pheromone accord is the heart of cyBorg Queen – a sexy, indolic jasmine to attract while a rich gourmand almond note conveys nurturing and comfort. Her body of skin, polymers, and metals wafts her signature perfume, a silent but unmistakable message of dominance but also protection.”

ÇaFleureBon x Aether Arts Perfume cyBorg Queen continues to examine important modes of inquiry found in Touchstone, including ideas of connectivity and safety. Encapsulated within this fragrant project are modes of connection, such as the “touchstone” of cyber communication and the talisman of cellular contact. ÇaFleureBon itself is a touchstone connecting fragrance lovers around the world with the vital sparks of what is happening in niche and artisanal worlds of scent. As the reference electronic media site developed for niche perfumery, ÇaFleureBon has expanded our connectivity as a community in its 13 years.

CyBorg Queen for cafleurebon

ÇaFleureBon x Aether Arts Perfume cyBorg Queen by Aether Arts Perfume

The Borg Queen’s cyborg body is created of metal, polymers, and flesh. She brings order to the Borg, a fusion of organic and synthetic matter, and leads the relentless pursuit of perfection through assimilation of all lifeforms in the galaxy. The Borg Queen is traditionally interpreted as a personification of our increasingly mechanized society, representing the darker sides of industrial development.

cyBorg Queen opens with a lush indolic jasmine paired with an almond accord. The jasmine is honeyed and textured, thick and fleshy and very human. A gourmand almond accord settles gently around the jasmine, creating a warm and calming atmosphere, much like the last few moments of the night feel unwinding to dawn. The scent of steel and grey circuitry, slightly ozonic, rises in the heart. This aroma is electric! Some aspect of the air just before a storm, something metallic and charged, is present. Warm musk envelopes the metallic charges, offering a close and connected dry down. What is especially unique and brilliant about ÇaFleureBon x Aether Arts Perfume cyBorg Queen is how it flips the script on these outdated and misogynistic views of powerful female characters. Strong and beautiful, this Queen offers the scent of unexpectedly sensuality along with comfort, and protection.

Top Notes: indolic jasmine and almond accord; Middle Notes: Warm Wires and Synthetic Skin Accord; Base Notes: Metals and Musk Accord

  • The unique notes and intriguing story of this perfume appeals to me. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. To be honest I’m not really a Star Trek fan.

  • Oh, I’m in a permanent search for the perfect jasmine, and this one sounds so intriguing and close to what I would envision the jasmine in fragrance to be. I loved Star Trek Next Generation, so much that I even read the books. CA, US

Love startrek! Really want to try the wire note, how is something cool Like that even possible? Im from eu

  • Wow what a great idea for a perfume. Indolic seduction, gourmand nurturing, but also steely interior of the Cyborg Queen. Curious about the metal and wire notes as the jasmine, almond and musk notes are familiar but not wire, metal etc. Thanks for the review and draw. From continental United States.

  • carlos_lager says:

That sounds really interesting. I love the note list. Warm wires, synthetic skin… I would love to smell this.
Thank you for the draw. Greetings from Austria (EU)

  • chrisskins says:

Amazing to smell like grey circuitry and hot and heavy jasmine and almond! Approach any women wearing this with extreme caution. I’d wear this on a date just to separate the wheat from the chaff. I live in NY and I’m specifically a fan of Spock.

  • chrisskins says:

I want to be Borg Queen! The jasmine, almond and circuitry – bring it! This is a scent to wear to separate the wheat from the chaff; it sounds amazing. I’m a Spock fan and I’m usually beamed up from NY.

  • Another queen! There is tension between fear and comfort described in Aether Arts cyBorg Queen that I find really interesting. Full disclosure, I am a fragrance fan, not a Star Trek fan, but I hope that doesn’t disqualify me from this draw, lol!

  • One of my favorite scents of all time is Ghost in the Shell by Etat Libre D’Orange, inspired by the landmark anime of the same name, with a similar creative brief — something that channels both the fresh, organic vulnerability of human flesh and the gleaming synethic futurism of the cyborg. The result is accessible yet otherworldly, comforting yet eerie, and remains deeply compelling to me after over a year of wearing it regularly. I’m really intrigued to experience another perfumer’s interpretation of the interplay between human and machine and how that intersects with today’s ideas about femininity and womanhood, especially in a world where near-daily breakthroughs in AI are changing the meanings of art, expression, and humanity. I live in New York, USA, and I am indeed a Star Trek fan!

Top Notes: indolic jasmine and almond accord; Middle Notes: Warm Wires and Synthetic Skin Accord; Base Notes: Metals and Musk Accord. Intrigued by the notes especially warm wire, indolic jasmine and metal accord. I am a Star Trek fan can’t resist it. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

Thanks a lot from the UK

I have never heard of such brand before and I am happy I got acquainted with Amber Jobin`s creations via Rachel`s article. This perfume sounds like something extraordinary. What struck me the most was the extraordinary combination of natural ingredients such as almond and jasmine, and technological futuristic accords such as wires, metal. These two contradictory sides of the same coin make up an extraordinary blend that truly conveys the essence of a cyborg woman. Resistance is futile! I would say that this is a contemporary art in the field of perfumery. I am a fan of Star Trek and I really like The Borg Queen by Alice Kriege and Susanna Thompson.

Thank you, CaFleureBon, for inspiring another interesting creation! And happy birthday!
Cyborg is a concept that has already got explored in various art formats, and recently in Fame and The Ghost In The Shell, though I find the latter two not very convincing.
I had some reservations about the name until Rachel denounced ‘the script on these outdated and misogynistic views of powerful female characters.’ Kudos! So well said! I am now very looking forwards to the interpretation!
    Love from Shanghai, China.

  • katyakotovskaya says:

Wow, this sounds fantastic! I’m deeply intrigued by the contrast between the notes representing human and artificial sides in this perfume. Warm wires and synthetic skin? Count me in! I live in EU

  • So intriguing and wonderfully described. I particularly love the knowing and serene look on the Borg Queens face in the first photo, it seems to go perfectly with your description. I also found the emotional description of powerful and protective very interesting. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • Do not enter me as i cant wear indolic jasmine, but i had to comment on how cool i think this is! Great new Queen for the line,
unique concept, intriguing story to tell! Love it!

  • I’m so pleased that almond is included and agree to the nurturing aspect of it. Jasmine is always boss lady! Intrigued by the metallic notes. This sounds like a lot of care and attention went into it. Our queen must be grand!!
Thank you for the generous giveaway.

  • I am indeed a Star Trek fan! Picard is pure fan service for those of us that grew up with TNG… in a good way!
I can’t help but think of another fragrance when I read about this one – Ghost in the Shell by ELDO. This fragrance sounds like it would lean more into a metallic aspect rather than a lactonic one like GITS.
    Thank you from Canada!

  • There absolutely had to be a metal accord in a fragrance inspired by the Borg queen. I also expected the ozone note which is represented by the wires and skin accord, The indolic jasmine and almond is a nice touch which firmly puts this in the realm of feminine to me. Jasmine and almond together usually gives me a honey vibe which is appropriate for the Borg “hive”. Aether Arts is always so creative. I’m not really a Star Trek fan but I do like Neal Stephenson who often writes of cyber realms. MD, USA

  • Maybe I’m just new to the olfactory universum but doesn’t sci-fi seem like a very rare source of inspiration lately? Besides Geza Schoen’s synthetic fetishes or old ads of Mugler’s A Men, vintage aproach seems much more appreciated. So what brought me here was a hope for avantgarde. With today’s pressure to keep everything natural, futurism almost doesn’t stand a chance. So I’m super happy to see ‘noses’ to go in another direction. Overall it’s a very exciting news.
As a part of X generation, Star Trek is almost tattooed all over our brain. It always seemed so restricted tho.. To this day I can’t really guess if it was a portrait of the cold utopian order or a metaphor for dystopian feeling of loneliness in the spce. I’m sure that You’ve figured it out better tham me, haha.
P.S. I live in the Milky Way galaxy, particulary Poland for the jokes1

I’ve been interested in metal and synthetics accords for a while, and this fragrance seems to be driving in the right direction. US.

  • It’s really cool to see CaFleureBon collaborate with different brands for their anniversary. For me, what initially appealed to me was the backstory behind the inspiration for this fragrance, but then it was the notes (like wires). From TX, USA.

  • I used to watch Star Trek when I was a kid, the series on TV. Well, this perfume has a really long name, hard to remember it. But would be interested to see what metals, skin and wires would smell like combined with the jasmine.
    I’m in the EU.

  • Based on this review and description, this strikes me as one of the most “think outside the box” scents I have read about in recent years. It sounds unique and almost intimidating? I am therefore super curious to try and smell this one! Thank you for the giveaway, from Canada.

  • Jenny Rickhuss says:

The notes sound amazing and I’d be so intrigued to smell them on my skin – I would love to imagine my own borg-self being expressed through my skin’s interaction with the notes! I’m in Houston, TX USA and I do enjoy Star Trek!

  • foreverscents says:

How interesting to read about the inspiration for cyBorg Queen, and, especially the notes that Amber Jobin chose to represent the cyborg body. I love metallic notes. The wire note also intrigues me.
I was a big fan of the original series, but I haven’t kept up with all the other series made since then. I am going to marathon a bunch of the series when I have more free time.
    I live in the USA.

  • What an unexpected addition to the Queen series! I like where Amber took the cyborg concept, leading with a strong jasmine note—rich, and heady, and organic—and then following it up with a metallic ozone to represent the Queen’s other half, with musk combining the two. This is a very cool design to commemorate ÇaFleureBon’s 13th anniversary.

I’m in the USA. The Borg Queen is one of my favorite Star Trek characters, so I’d love to try this one. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • emorandeira says:

I have not tried this brand ever but It really attracks me. This metallic Jasmine should be JUSt great… And very futuristic. All the ensenble really appeals me and of course the article is simply perfect!
I am not a Big fan of Star Trek unfortunately I must confess I even hate a bit ST and Star wars hahahaha but the perfume should be great.
I am Writing from Lugo in Spain!

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the lovely review Rachel.
I started watching Picard on a flight and I really was drawn into the story. I need to get back to finishing the series.

I love the idea of giving the Borg Queen a pheremone, one that is warm and appealing. I would not have associated “feeling” with the Borg and this is an intersting concept.

I certainly would love to sniff this

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • sephrenia300 says:

Wonderful review! What appeals to me about CaFleureBon X cyBorg Queen is that the fragrance is not only of a metallic synthetic nature but also focuses on the pheromone aspect of the borg queen as a queen bee – with sexy, indolic jasmine and a rich gourmand note that counterbalances the modern artificial elements. Such a juxtaposition sounds very intriguing and unique to me and I am very interested in trying it. I live in the US and I definitely a big Star Trek fan!
