Launched in 2016, BDK Parfums quickly became a prominent international independent niche perfume brand. Founder David Benedek, grew up in a magical scented universe thanks to his grandparents and his parents who were perfume distributors from the 1950s (and still are). BDK Parfums started with five fragrances, and now has sixteen, divided into four collections (Parisienne, Matières, Azur and Exclusive), to which must be added hair perfumes, and even “Eau de lessive” detergents! BDK Parfums also asserts its choice of “made in France”, with the bottle cap (developed by a goldsmith jeweler from the Paris region) whose shape pays homage to the dome of the Grand Palais. The bottle is made in Normandy, the label is produced by a printing press located in the Parisian district of Le Marais and the boxes are crafted in Le Mans.

A few weeks ago, BDK Parfums released Ambre Safrano exclusively at Harrods and on their website. Here in Paris there is a lot of buzz as the fragrance’s name evokes two raw materials that many perfume lovers are fond of and that symbolize travel and sensuality (that’s usually what we are looking for, aren’t we?) If you want to test BDK Parfums Ambre Safrano, you have to travel to London, order from the BDK Parfums website or wait until July 2022, when it will be available worldwide. BDK Parfums Ambre Safrano, David Benedek chose IFF Perfumer Julien Rasquinet, with whom he also collaborated with on BDK Parfums Tabac Rose. As ÇaFleureBon opens doors, and thanks to David and his collaborator Lauren, I had the chance to discover, test and wear BDK Parfums Ambre Safrano in preview.

BDK Parfums Ambre Safrano review

Ambre Safrano is a true ray of light – collage ©Emmanuelle Varron.

As an amber fragrance fan, and a lover of spices in perfumes, especially saffron, I was immediately attracted by the name of BDK Parfums Ambre Safrano. Julien Rasquinet is quoted from the official press release: “saffron’s symbolism is very rich. During the Antiquity, it embodied sensuality and exquisite pleasure. In India, it represents luck. It can suggest color, wealth, joy, opulence… Working on a saffron imagery is telling all these stories simultaneously.”

Ambre Safrano is a fragrance that delivers from the first spray, with confidence and character that brings to mind a musical score where there are both short and long notes ( punctuated by olfactory minims, crotchets and various rhythms).  BDK Parfums Ambre Safrano hides (despite its name) many other raw materials precisely shaped by Julien Rasquinet which remain warm and luminous on the skin, from the first spritz until ten- twelve hours later. Saffron is king here, accompanied throughout its evolution by a burst of black pepper which intensifies its heat. The black leather-absolute rose duo brings a very sensual, velvety, almost animalic intensity, playing on the leather- floral contrast. The plum note works beautifully and is both juicy and sweet. Oakwood and sandalwood provides a foundation for the spices, flowers, fruits and leather which crackle like fireworks; this woody facet is embellished with a solar vanilla, and a note of olibanum brings its mystical spirit into  Ambre Safrano’s olfactive sensuality. Ambre Safrano is akin to a scented armor that protects from the current gloom and also delights the senses.

Notes: saffron accord, black pepper oil, plum accord, rose absolute, olibanum absolute,  black leather accord, oakwood CO2, sandalwood oil, vanilla bean extract C02.

The black leather-absolute rose duo brings a very sensual, velvety, almost animalic intensity, playing on the leather- floral contrast with sweet of plums note. I am from Bucharest Romania Europe

  • This one looks wonderful! Just like every other creatiom from this house. I like this house’s DNA, so I am sure Ambre Safrano will be another hit on my list from BDK Parfums.
    Thanks!!

  • Dubaiscents says:

Loved the review Emanuelle and congratulations on the new role of Senior Editor! I adore Julien’s work and I can’t think a better perfumer for this style of scent. I can’t wait to smell this one!

  • Ooh I love saffron notes. I’m really intrigued by the plum note as well and love to see that it includes some C02s. My favorite from BDK so far has been Gris Charnel. USA

  • All of the BDK scents I have smelled have been amazing.
I have really been enjoying amber fragrances.
    I am in Oklahoma, USA

  • This one is a gorgeous prize, i’m a huge amber and BDK Parfums fan, Ambre Safrano mastered by Julien Rasquinet is a delight! From Romania with love!

  • Karl Topham says:

A David and Julien collaboration… For sure, would love to experience this scent. If it is on par with Nuit De Sable then consider me overwhelmed.

  • twiggy3634 says:

What interests me is easy, the mention of my favorite fruit note; plum! And with spices, resins and woods to give a rich complexity, this is surely to be a hit. Would love to win this, cheers from Indiana USA.
p.s. congrats Emanuelle on climbing that ladder!

  • Congrats Emmanuelle on your promotions. BDK Parfums Ambre Safrano comes across an amber fragrance for both amber lovers and non-lovers. Some amber non-lovers have complaints that amber tends to overwhelms other notes but that does not seem the case here. as saffron, black pepper, and leather also play prominent roles. Plum sweetens the composition and it seems this will please many people. I am in US.

  • The concept of a scented armor amuses me. I love ambers and this sound wonderful. Tabac Rose is a current favorite. USA

  • joetelegram says:

Greetings, All four collections of perfumes produced by BDK and its founder, David Benedek–Parisienne, Matières, Azur and Exclusive–sound incredible.

I love the concept of saffron, amber, black pepper, and leather in Ambre Safrano. The plum seems like it will really add some interesting character to this composition!

Along with this fragrance, I’m also interested in sampling Tobac Rose (also composed by Julien Rasquinet).

A special thank you to Emmanuelle Varronon for this entry, and also congratulations on your promotion! Also, thank you to CaFleureBon for the opportunity & BDK for your generosity.

  • I use Saffron and rose oil in my hair, I’d love to experience that combination on my skin, too.

    Emmanuelle’s review is inciting.

Congratulations for your promotion, Emmanuelle!! I had the chance to learn about sofran when i travelled to spain and found out that most of it s value is given by the hard work required gathering enough of it. Not very accustomed with the smell, but i know it s value. Big fan of amber fragrances, sweet, warm, misterious. This sounds like an incredible fragrance. Sadly i never had the chance to smell a creation from BDK Parfums. Thank you for the opportunity! I live in Romania, EU.

  • Love the Fragrance house BDK. Ambre sounds wonderful love all the notes. The Rose and leather Wow must smell great. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • When I was surfing BDK’s website I was intrigued when I stumbled across Ambre Safrano as I have never heard about it. With amber and saffron both being some of my favorite notes I was filled with joy and excitement to get my hands on this one day. Julien Rasquinet makes some of my favorite fragrances like The Moon and Russian Tea. He is a brilliant perfumer and I’m sure Ambre Safrano will be a hit for BDK. BDK has some outstanding fragrances that I enjoy: Gris Charnel, Creme de Cuir, Wood Jasmine to name a few, hopefully add Ambre Safrano soon! Thank you so much to BDK for the generous giveaway and good luck to everyone!

  • Emmanuelle!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Wonderful review!!! You make this fragrance sound so so tempting! Rasquinet does wonderful work and Ambre Safrano must be fantastic. ❤️ After Olga’s review of Gris Charnel I ordered a sample set from BDK, so I can’t pick a favorite until I’m done going through it! I would love to be a lucky winner of this bottle! I’m drawn to how saffron works with the other notes like plum, olibanum, pepper, etc. Sounds exciting! Thank you for this opportunity! USA

  • Ambre Safrano sounds like a great evening scent. I’m drawn to the plum and olibanum notes. On my wishlist it goes! My favorite BDK is Rouge Smoking. Congratulatiions Emmanuelle on your promotion. Thanks for introducing another wonderful fragrance from BDK. Mich USA

Ambery, sweet, spicy, and leather … sounds like a dream, right in my lane. I enjoyed how Emmanuelle highlighted how everything is so well blended as to present very velvety and sensual. Emmanuelle, KUDOS on all of the good things and promotion – well done!

From this house of BDK, Gris Charnel has my heart. A truly enduring scent, a forever fragrance for me. USA.

Beautiful review by Emmanuelle, especially this part: “Ambre Safrano is akin to a scented armor that protects from the current gloom and also delights the senses.” My favorite BDK is Tubereuse imperiale.

  • Love the bottle & the color of the juice. Would live to add this to the collection, it would be my first BDK. Seems it would perform in cooler months but possibly year round.

  • AMBRE SAFRANO seems both a powerful and enveloping creation. This perfume combines many aromas with a strong character: saffron with its spicy touch and rose absolute, with its sensuality and plum accord that usually brings a carefree touch to the fragrance.
I have nothing of this brand but I would like this perfume very much …

  • What a wonderful review from Emmanuelle Always clear and well written
    This Fragrance sounds Amazing

  • Nice review Emmanuelle and congrats on your promotion!!much deserved!! I think David Benedek knows what he wants and focusing on the keynotes, usually a couple, he is building a beautiful collection. As Emmanuelle I love saffron (azafrán in spanish) and it is the “king” in this composition amongst other spices and fruits. Mixing it with ambers is a heaven in Rasquinet hands! He adds a winner duo too: black leather-absolute rose and the final woods (Oakwood and sandalwood) rounds this shining and straightforward scents in this aftergloom times!. I tried once velvet-tonka BDK and loved the marzipan touch. I live in Spain, EU.

  • Yum! I also love ambers and would be so interested to try this- I haven’t much experience with saffron either so I would love to try it just for that. I haven’t smelled any fragrances from this brand yet. Thank you for the review! Writing from the EU.

  • BDK is one of my favorite houses and amber, saffron, and plum are some of my favorite notes; with those two things combined I would love to try this fragrance! I live in the USA in the state of Virginia. Thank you for the opportunity to enter this draw.

  • wowza @”warm and luminous on the skin, from the first spritz until ten- twelve hours later” – say no more, I’m in for all the saffrony, peppery, leathery and solar mmmmmmmm vanilla goodness 🙂
so far, my fav is Crème de Cuir and I am living in Europe.

  • I adore BDK and am so excited for this release! I already have Gris Charnel and Pas Ce Soir. It would be nice to add Ambre Safrano to my collection as well. The saffron accord sounds delightful! ~Indiana, USA

  • Emanuelle, congratulations on the new role of Senior Editor and Brand Ambassador!

I got the impression that BDK is one of the most omnipresent and cherished houses in the Youtube fragrance community. I was surprised to read that it was launched in 2016, to me it seems that has been around for more than 10 years. I had the pleasure to be wearing their Roughe Smoking, which I really liked. Unique, chic, and contemporary. Based on different reviews, I would conclude that most of their fragrances channel confidence and modern vibes.

Preview of new incoming release confirms that house continues on his selected path. As a follow amber and saffron fragrance fan, I can only agree with Emmanuelle that already the name Ambre Safrano sounds very attractive. The note and accords breakdown consists of some of my favorite ones. I loved Emmanuelle’s description of how notes appear and interact. I was especially intrigued by leather – rose dance.

Getting the tester before the »real« launch seems such a privilege for CaFleureBon reader(s). Thank you Cafleurebon and BDK for that opportunity!
    I live in the EU.

  • My interest was sparked by the combination of black leather and rose. I have no favorite from the house as I haven’t yet tried any. US

  • Riccardo Calcagno says:

Wonderful review. I especially liked how the author made a comparison with music and notes…also loved the thorough description.
I’ve tried some of Rasquinet works before, but never bdk…hope to try this.

    Hello,

  • BDK strikes again!!!! This sounds like another beautiful creation, amber being one of my favorite notes, with the addition of plum, rose and leather, OMG. This sounds incredible!!!! BDK never fails to impress me and this one sounds impressive. My favorite BDK is Tabac Rose

  • Congratulations Emmanuelle on your promotion, WELL DESERVED! Great review, as always! The description of the fragrance, as well as a short history on saffron was enlightening to read! This one sounds incredible – these notes are truly incredible saffron accord, black pepper oil, plum accord, rose absolute, olibanum absolute, black leather accord, oakwood CO2, sandalwood oil, vanilla bean extract C02. WOW, WOW, WOW!!! My favourite BDK perfume is Rouge Tabac – the only one I’ve tried, but I’ve loved it! 😀 I live in Croatia, EU

  • I really like this house! I had a few samples from them and each fragrance had a special thing going on. I think it’s very hard for one, even the most unexperienced nose, to try a perfume from BDK and to say that one does not like that particular perfume. You can’t go wrong with any of them and I am sure you can’t go wrong either with Ambre Safrano.
I am in the EU. Thank you!

  • Félicitations Emmanuelle pour la promotion! I anm very interested in trying Ambre Safrano (I am based in Luxembourg), I am very interested by the mention of leather absolute and rose notes, a combination I find appealing (off course Saffron is also an enticing prospect).
    Thanks for the excellent reviews!
    Ramon

  • Constancesuze says:

I love Gris Charnel, but I would like to explore the whole range more. I’m generally an amber fan but less sold on saffron, so this would be an interesting one to try. Although the positioning of it as a Harrrod’s exclusive does suggest it might be aimed more to the Middle Eastern market.
    I’m in the US

  • I’ve never owned a BDK perfume. Ambre Safrano says it all. I love amber and I love any spice I use in cooking, saffron being a major one. Sometimes I think I can imagine how a fragrance may smell by reading the notes but quite often I’m surprised by how it smells which is a wonderful experience in itself.

    U.S.

    Congrats Emmanuelle!

  • For me, Emmanuelle’s review caused this fragrance to seem very interesting and high-quality. I love saffron in fragrances, and I like a lot of the other notes for this fragrance. Also, I appreciate discovering a fragrance which has good performance. I haven’t tried anything yet from BDK Parfums. I live in the U.S.A.

  • Congratulations Emmanuelle! I love BDK’s Gris Charnel. It works so well on my skin! I am always impressed with BDK’s base notes and this one looks like it has a fantastic line-up of them! I am always a sucker for incense and leather notes and when they are together the combination smells so good on skin! Thank you! I am in the US.

  • I have the BDK French Bouquet it is wonderful This new Fragrance is intriguing with the heavy saffron and rose. I want to crackle like fireworks

  • Thanks for this wonderful article Emmanuelle, and congratulation on the promotion to Senior Editor and Paris brand Ambassador!

As a fan of good looking bottle it’s nice to read a little bit more information about the bottle, the cap and the rest of the packaging. Presentation is important to me and a good looking bottle with a heavy cap can do a lot to spark my interest.

I love your description where you write that Saffron is king.
I am a fan of Saffron and when you mention that it’s accompanied by a burst of black pepper which intensifies its heat you’ve got me quite excited. I would love to wear this on a cool summer night at the fireplace.

I have bought Velvet Tonka for my partner who adores it, but I would love to have a bottle of Ambre Safrano to myself!

    Greetings from the UK!

  • A mix with Amber and Saffron is something I would love to smell. I really got hooked with this fragrance because from the review it surely looks something different, something really special and would love to try it. My favorite BDK Parfum fragrance is Seld d’argent.

Oh thank you for the fantastic review Emmanuelle! Ambre Safrano has been added to my to-test list the moment I saw the header of the review on here! I have heard about David Benedek’s roots but it was a delight to discover where the bottle, cap, label and boxes are made – the entire concept is so well thought through and executed that the brand is an instant attraction. I love Emmanuelle’s description of saffron being the king, warmed up by the fiery black pepper, intensified by velvety and sensual black leather and rose absolute, sweetened by juicy plum and all jointed by oakwood and sandalwood. And there’s also vanilla! I absolutely love the notes and the overall sound of this creation. My favorite BDK fragrance have been Rouge Smoking and Pas Ce Soir but Ambre Safrano might inevitably become another one. I am based in Dublin, Ireland, EU

  • GennyLeigh says:

This seems very classic yet sensual. The leather and rose combination with the spice, fruit and saffron blend is a velvety animalistic dream. I do not have a favorite BDK perfume but this sounds wonderful. Congratulations on your promotion Emmanuelle! MD, USA.

Saffron, leather and rose means this one is an oriental stunner! Such a well chosen name, Ambre Safrano has me very intrigued. Thank you for the opportunity and I hope to win. From Romania, EU.

  • What sparked my interest was how many of the notes i enjoy and the review suggests they work together so well, for example, “this woody facet is embellished with a solar vanilla, and a note of olibanum brings its mystical spirit into Ambre Safrano’s olfactive sensuality. Ambre Safrano is akin to a scented armor that protects from the current gloom and also delights the senses.” The scented armor part doesn’t sound bad either. I’ve not tried many but so far Gris Charnel is my favorite BDK. Thanks for the generous draw, from USA.

  • is akin to a scented armor that protects from the current gloom and also delights the senses.

Notes: saffron accord, black pepper oil, plum accord, rose absolute, olibanum absolute, black leather accord, oakwood CO2, sandalwood oil, vanilla bean extract C02. Congratulations to Emmanuel on her promotion. I am intrigued by the notes and the perfumer is my all time favourite. A house that I have got no experience with but I am intrigued by nonetheless. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

A beautiful description by Emmanuel has really piqued my interest in this house. A warm congratulations to Emmanuel. A house that I have not tried anything by as of yet. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Congratulations for your promotion! Beautiful review! I know that soffran is used mostly for it s coloring ateibutes. In this fragrance seems that is represented as so much more. Such a complex and beautiful creation. Never had the chance of smelling BDK fragrances but it looks like this has a chance to be my first from the house and a true amazing fragrance. I live in the EU.

  • Saffron, black pepper oil and plum? On top of vanilla? Oh, this is really interesting! The ingredients are striking, like I’m in my mom’s kitchen. Still haven’t tried any BDK perfume…
    EU

  • Congratulations Emmanuelle!
Ambre Saffron sounds quite intense. To me, the description seems suited to a winter fragrance, but this is coming out for the warm months. It will be very interesting to try on a hot day. And who couldn’t use some scented armor? I am in the US

  • Congratulations on the promotion and another interesting review, Emanuelle! I have never tried anything from BDK but the fragrance profiles really speak to me. I’m a lover of amber perfumes and with saffron this sounds incredible. If I’m near Harrods I will see if I can have a sniff of this. Especially the leather and rose accord intrigue me in this. Marit UK

  • I will never turn away from an amber perfume. But, this sounds like so much more. Saffron is a newish note to me and this combination with leather, pepper, and plum sounds unique to the world of ambers. Thank you for the inspiring review! I have yet to try a BDK perfume.

  • Like Emmanuelle I too love amber and spice notes in perfumes, so truly enjoyed her review of Ambre Safrano. Unfortunately I haven’t tried anything by BDK Perfumes, yet, so don’t have a favorite. I love the notes in Ambre Safrano and liked what Emmanuelle said in her review “Ambre Safrano is akin to a scented armor that protects from the current gloom and also delights the senses.” Perfect. By the way, it seems that this perfumes is available to US buyers, going from the link provided in this review. Thanks for a very generous draw and review. From USA.

  • I am a saffron lover and a huge BDK fan. Reading the review, I discovered some interesting things about saffron. I’m very excited about this new release. I also have on my wishlist Gris Charnel. Iana from Bucharest, Romania

  • Jake Dauod says:

What sparks my interest the most is the saffron. I absolutely love the note, but I have hardly tried any of them. I really like how much effort goes into each fragrance. I didn’t know where they sourced the bottles or caps, so learning about that was quite interesting as well. The notes sound harmonious, and I love the fact that it lasts 10-12 hours. I cannot wait to try this one, once it becomes available. Kind regards from IL, USA.

  • Emmanuelle Varron take on Ambre Saffrano , the fragrance being limited to UK, reminded me of the traditional for modern day Indian cuisine Chai Saffron-Plum Cake . I imagined eating it while in one of London parks.
My favorite BDK Parfums is Gris Charnel, I sampled it because of Olya Bar review for Cafleurebon . My girlfriend loved the way it smells, and I bought her a bottle. Smells like Cardamom Fig Cake i do on regular basis in my bakery , and drinking black tea . Such a comforting fragrance , i have a feeling Ambre Saffrano shares some of Gris Charnel characteristics
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Rouge Smoking is the only BDK Parfums i know. Complex alluring fragrance , with tart sour cherries, pink pepper, lots of vanilla, slightly musky smell. To my surprise it’s a powerful one. I was not expecting the Rouge Smoking to radiate as much . Cold weather fragrance, in late spring and summer it becomes cloying.
Ambre Safrano is just as complex , but more settled down, laid back spicy saffron fragrance with rose , and leather. It also feels sexy
Thanks for the draw , and congratulations to Emmanuelle for the promotion

  • Everything about it sounds intriguing.. Safron, peper, plum, leather, oakwood, vanilla…. It probably smells amazing on skin. Aistria.

  • Forgot to say I have not tested any BDK perfume yet. But this could be a nice beginning

  • I’ve actually never tried any BDK fragrances before. But I absolutely love the composition of notes in this perfume. It sounds so warm and sexy. I really enjoy the note of saffron mixed with a note of rose in a scent (Tom Ford’s Rose Prick immediately comes to mind).
    I live in the USA.

  • Thanks for giving us a heads up for another great oriental ambry perfume. I am a fan of Julien Rasquinet’s works. Thanks for the draw! I am in the US.

  • It seems that i have the same taste as Emmanuelle since i am an amber fan too and saffron is one of my favorites notes in perfumery. I would love to see how those notes will work with the sweetness of plum. My favorite Bdk is rouge smoking. A reader from Greece.

  • WaltherP99 says:

All the hype surrounding BDK Parfums is well deserved. I’m well familiar with all, but the latest Ambre Safrano , and Gris Charnel Extrait
I’m bald , and I’m shaving my head twice a day, so hair perfumes Emmanuelle mentioned, are not exactly my thing hahaha
If I have to rate my favorite BDK Parfums:
    1. Tabac Rose
    2. Rouge Smoking
    3. Gris Charnel
All three are fantastic, Tabac Rose i own.
Saffron already has leathery facets, and it’s usually paired with rose , leather or incense, and I see all present in Ambre Safrano. What actually sparked my interest is the addition of my all time favorite note in perfumery, Plum.
The “juicy and sweet” plum ,and Julien Rasquinet being the nose behind the fragrance makes me want to try Ambre Safrano as soon as possible.
Congrats to Emmanuelle climbing up the Cafleurebon ladder
Just followed @davidbdk1 ,the other profiles I follow for a long time, @waltherp99bg

  • This new offering from BDK parfums sounds delightful based on the combination of notes. Emmanuelle’s description of the fragrance experience makes it so appealing.
I love Gris Charnel from BDK.
    Maryland, US.

  • Outstanding review by Emmanelle who sparked my interest in BDK Ambre Safrano from the note broke down. This fragrance sounds sensual and lovely. I have never tried any of BDK fragrances. Thanks for the giveaway and generosity. I am in the USA.

  • foreverscents says:

My Francophile heart loves that everything about BDK is made in France. I love saffron and I wish I could afford to put it in my “golden milk” (turmeric will have to suffice). I love that there is plum and black pepper in Ambre Safrano. I haven’t tried anything from BKK, but I have heard many good things about Velvet Tonka.
    I am in the USA.

  • As soon as Emmanuelle mentioned Ambre Safrano embodying the ideas of travel and sensuality I was hooked. As someone who seeks a fragrance that performs consistently, knowing that I’ll be in this scent’s bubble for ten to twelve hours is very alluring. My favorite BDK scents are Oud Abramad and Tabac Rose, and I have no doubt this fragrance lives up to the mastery of the other two! Thanks a lot!

  • I can’t say I’ve tried a fragrance built around saffron; my experience with it is only through fine dining. I also haven’t tried any BDK Parfums offerings. However, I adore the smell of black pepper, so I gravitate to any fragrance utilizing that note forcefully. Pair that with a leather accord sweetened by stone fruits, and I’m very intrigued. Ambre Safrano sounds like heady stuff and I’d love to try it.

I’m in the midwest, USA. Also, congrats Emmanuelle!

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Emmanuelle’s review of Ambre Safrano. Congratulations to Emmanuelle on her promotion to Senior Editor and Paris Brand Ambassador I loved learning about David Benedek and his family’s history in perfumery and what has became such a popular niche brand in the fragrance community. I personally love everything I’ve tried from BDK Parfums. My favorite fragrance from BDK Parfums is Wood Jasmin and I would love Ambre Safrano because I am a huge fan of Amber based perfumes. • Saffron symbolizing wealth in India is something I didn’t know prior to reading, so thanks for that. The blend of notes sound interesting, but much as how you hear pineapple and think Aventus, I hear saffron and think BR 540. My favorite from the house is Tabac Rose!

Thanks for the great review Emmanuelle. I love the interplay of the saffron, rose and pepper trifecta. There are a lot of beautiful embellishments to this fragrance, like the vanilla and the black leather accord.

I haven’t smelt anything from this house and would love to get my nose on this.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Congratulations on your promotion, Emanuelle!

Simply the word “amber” is enough to spark my interest. The idea of this perfume being an armour is very intriguing. Who couldn’t use one of those, these days? I have respect for BDK perfumes in general and find them to be high quality. Thank you for the review, and for holding this drawing.

    I’m in Texas, USA.

“saffron’s symbolism is very rich. During the Antiquity, it embodied sensuality and exquisite pleasure”
Of course in some cultures saffron is considered to be Aphrodisiac since ancient times. Ambre Safrano is appealing to me because of its darker elements , leather, smokiness , and black pepper , the sweeter plum and vanilla even the scale nicely.
Emmanuelle , congrats on your promotion
I don’t have a favorite BDK Parfums, the brand is new to me
    Exciting giveaway , USA

  • Emmanuelle’s comparison of Black Afgano to a musical score is just lovely! I can almost see the notes dancing about on the sheet of paper. My favorite BDK fragrance is Pas Ce Soir.

  • No youngsters allowed , Ambre Safrano is here. I expect it to lean slightly mature , because of the “almost animalic intensity” of the leather and spices . The jammy plum is unexpected, but so welcome . Ambre Safrano is unique both retro , and modern. Best of both worlds.
Julien Rasquinet is really talented, I know his work for other brands like Histoires de Parfums, Amouage and so on
Bdk i discovered last week, I need more time with my samples, but according to my initial impressions Tabac Rose and Rouge Smoking i like the most.
Thank you for the opportunity , and congrats to Emmanuelle Varron on her promotion

I like how Ambre Safrano is made , a lot of saffron, succulent plum ,rose , black pepper, and sandalwood. Classy fragrance, no questions asked.
Dress to impress, if Ambre Safrano was a suit, it would’ve been a Double-breasted bespoke navy blue suit. Sophisticated , avant-garde fragrance for dressed up, special occasions only.
I’ve heard BDK Parfums, but never had a chance to smell their fragrances.
Thank you Emmanuelle , and congratulations on your promotion . I’d also like to thank BDK Parfums

Lovely review Emmanuelle and congratulations on your promotion! What sparked my interest about Emmanuelle’s review is the idea that while saffron is king of this fragrance, it’s paired with the the absolutely intoxicating combo of black leather and absolute rose, bringing out the sensual and animalic aspects of the saffron. That sounds like the perfect combination of very appealing notes to me and I can’t wait to try it. My favorite BDK Parfums today is Nuit de Sable. I live in the US.
