Kajal Perfumes Kajal Eau de Parfum by Nicoleta
Kajal Perfumes, founded in 2013, is a project born out of one man’s passion for luxury fragrances. Moe Khalaf, the creative heart and brain behind the brand, with an impressive background in the luxury beauty industry, after having over a decade of experience with industry giants like Estée Lauder and L’Oréal, set out to create something unique. He envisioned a luxury brand that would be an ode to age-old traditions and cultural reverence while maintaining a modern and contemporary spirit. The name “kajal” is inspired by kohl, a natural product in Indian culture used to protect and beautify the eyes, with a deeper layer of meaning from the Arabic word “khajal,” capturing the virtues of humility, modesty, and respect for others.

Each fragrance blends inspiration and spiritual essence, while the packaging reflects a deep love for the timeless sacred beauty of geometric design. With a clear vision, a strong identity, and in-depth knowledge of the perfumery market, Kajal has achieved well-deserved success, recently winning the prestigious Art and Olfaction Awards 2024 Independent Category for Kajal IV by Kevin Mathys.

Moe Khalaf has collaborated with some of the best perfumers of our decade, including Chris Maurice, Rosendo Mateu, Alix Miral, Valérie Garnuch-Mentzel, Mark Buxton, Rania Jouaneh, and rising star Kevin Mathys. And it all began with Kajal Eau de Parfum, created by Chris Maurice – the first perfume launched by Kajal Perfumes exactly ten years ago.

“Eyes that seek beauty in all that they behold,
Cast light upon the overlooked splendor surrounding us,
Transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Veiled in understated allure and seductive whispers, Kajal draws inspiration from ‘Khajal’, an Arabic term signifying modesty and self-awareness, highly esteemed across Arab cultures for its profound respectfulness. By welcoming others with respect, regardless of their journey, we reflect our own integrity and acknowledge the inherent dignity that exists in every soul. The essence of our true spirit is often illuminated by the magnetic allure of our eyes. Captivatingly beautiful, eyes that radiate kindness, sincerity, and compassion highlight the luminous purity of a virtuous heart.”

Kajal Eau de Parfum is the definition of a clean, fresh my skin-but-better scent. Opening up with mouthwatering notes of Amalfi lemon, mandarin, and bergamot – it awakens, refreshes, and cleanses the mood. From the start, it has an unusual blend of strength mixed in with a special ethereal quality – and the crisp texture of the first moments feels both invigorating and smoothly serene.

In the heart of Kajal Eau de Parfum, a poised and powdery take on the red petals of Turkish Rose takes center stage. These graceful, velvety blooms blend seamlessly with the luxurious softness of orris, creating a lush and captivating floral bouquet that feels both grounded – classic and contemporary-ly imponderable.

The base notes of Kajal Eau de Parfum, where Chris Maurice’s signature shines through, envelop you in a warm, sensual embrace of musk, amber, tonka, and vanilla, with a hint of creamy Mysore sandalwood. Imagine the luxurious sensation of just-out-of-the-shower warm skin wrapped in a rich, cooling purple silk veil – just sheer femininity and sensual abandon. The fragrance’s beautiful purple hue perfectly matches its mood, exuding calm and a mystical sense of deep relaxation.

Kajal Eau de Parfum is a modern yet timeless veil of fragrance – an invitation to indulge in the finer things in life. A powdery ambery scent that retains a refreshing quality all throughout its light fabric, making it ideal for summer – although it is versatile enough to be worn all year round. For its smooth texture and comforting feel, I also love wearing it to sleep, feeling its musky ethereal purple embrace well into the morning.
Top notes: Amalfi lemon, Calabrian bergamot and Mandarine; Heart notes: Turkish rose, Orris; Base notes: Musk, Amber, Madagascar vanilla, Tonka beans, Mysore sandalwood.
