Initio Parfums Paragon Review (2022) + Superabundance Giveaway

Initio Parfums Paragon review

Initio Parfums Paragon Image by Karl

“Life starts over when it gets crisp in the fall.” F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Initio Parfums is a brand with which I am extremely well acquainted. I love the universal appeal of previous offerings such as Oud For Greatness, Rehab and Side Effect. Sensuality is synonymous with the brand and the new Initio Parfums Paragon delivers. The latest addition to the Hedonist Collection of three mantra fragrances, joining Rehab the Physical and Musk Therapy the Emotional; Paragon takes the Hedonist DNA a dichotomy of freshness and depth and weaves in a luscious plum accord into the mix for the wearer to have a ‘Spiritual’ connection.

Autumn In New York City

Autumn (N.Y.C) by Michelyn

Initio Parfums Paragon represents, ‘A path of accomplishment’ (note from the brand). Here Initio Parfums have created a fragrance which uses uplifting notes at the forefront backed up with deeper soulful ones throughout the heart and the base. The timing of this release could not be better with the piney crispness and carnelian colour palette of Autumn in full effect and the pure white flacon with an auburn metallic insignia reflecting the vibe of the perfume in an ideal way.

The opening of Initio Paragon is explosive and has a spacious effect with bergamot, lavender, and white sage a sparkling concoction, which is attention grabbing. This provides one with a crisp and fresh experience and is extremely likeable. Quickly, Paragon shifts gears into a sensual and spicy scent as we notice black pepper and plum. These blend smoothly with the lavender, which tempers the pepper and allows the plum to take centre stage. It is exciting, silky, and slightly syrupy. The Palo Santo Wood compliments the bergamot and sage bringing subtle hints of mint and citrus and wraps the plum in a light incense. The effect is a hazy uplifting one with a deep and delicious heart.

As we delve into the base of Initio Parfums Paragon we are met with a creamy sandalwood and exceptionally light touches of Agarwood (oud). The sandalwood is much more present than the Agarwood, which is not discernible to my nose.  More to the fore is Palo Santo, which carries throughout the wearing experience and blends seamlessly with the milky sandalwood. It is a fine composition and one with great commercial appeal. The beauty of the Hedonist Collection is the versatility of all three fragrances. Paragon wins on being a scent that can be worn casually or dressed up and has the unique twist of using plum as a central theme with citrus, woods and incense playing supporting roles. One certainly feels the experience of superabundance with Paragon. The presentation is top class, and the scent delivers on being a feel-good fragrance and one which garners many compliments.

Notes: Bergamot, White Sage, Lavender, Plum, Palo Santo, Black Pepper, Sandalwood, Agarwood.

  • This sounds so good for fall and winter! I don’t have a plum perfume in my collection, and I love plums, so I’d love to try Initio Parfums Paragon. Looking at the notes, I think the sage and black pepper would be wonderful with the stone fruit–like a sweet and savory tart.
    I’m in the USA.

  • This fragrance sounds incredible. I love the note breakdown. Unfortunately, I havent had the opportunity to smell anything from Initio Parfums, but I would love to try them all. I live in Houston Texas and would like to enter the giveaway. Thanks

I just bought side effect, and i just die to have paragon! I hope that I win this time. I’m from Orlando – usa

  • Lavender, plum and sandalwood sounds like a winning combination! “The effect is a hazy uplifting one with a deep and delicious heart.” Sounds terrific – I don’t own any plum fragrances so this would be a welcome addition! I must admit I have not sampled anything from this brand yet. Thank you for the draw!
    From Canada.

  • Plum with citrus, incense and woods along with great versatility and uniqueness is a definitely a winner. Initio has wonderful fragrances, I’m partial to Oud for Greatness. The black bottle design is out of this world too. From Canada.

  • Magnificent review! I really adore Initio Parfums house! It’s seductive, has amazing silliage and last all day!!! Paragon seems amazing and right up my alley… I love sandalwood and plum!!! I would be sooo happy to add Paragon to my collection!!!! I’m from Massachusetts, US. Fingers crossed!!!!

  • Sound like a good spring & fall fragrance. Always hear good things about Initio fragrances. Pretty bottle as well.
    Martinsville, Virginia USA

  • Initio Parfums Paragon seems like a fragrance that will really appeal to those who enjoy woody fragrances. It has agarwood and sandalwood. Similarly, the notes of plum and pepper seem to add playful vibe to the composition. Def. feels more suited to the cold weather that has begun making its presence felt. I am in US.

  • The Palo santo sounds like a spiritual experience. Just got Oud for Greatness.
    I love Initio Parfums.

This sounds incredible. I love plum. It’s one of the most underrated fruit. I like this brand but don’t know if I have a favorite.

  • Wow! Wow! Wow! The notes sound incredible in this and I’m just dying to try. I do love lavender in fragrances. Plum is hit or miss for me so I am hoping to try and see what this has to offer. I love side effect from Initio and would love to be given this as an opportunity. From Connecticut, USA.

  • I love the notes perfect for Fall weather very uplifting. I have sampled side effects another wonderful Fragrance. The bottles are also beautiful different colors. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • Super cool review Karl. Plum wrapped inincense with the bright opening sounds amazing. Love all the photos used as well.
Musk Therapy is my favorite Initio Parfum.

  • My favorite is Atomic Rose and Side Effect. What strikes me about this newest is the juxtaposition of warm autumn plum with crisp lavender and sage, that sounds glorious. I love Palo Santo and always welcome it in a great blend.
    Opalbear California

  • I would love to see how Palo Santo and Agarwood works.
This combination sounds utterly remarkable and intriguing

  • This blend of notes sounds like it would be an amazing fragrance for this time of year. I love spicy fragrances and it sounds like this one takes you from fresh to spicy to smooth and sensual. My favorite from the brand is Oud for Greatness. Excited to have the opportunity to try Paragon. Thanks! U.S.

  • What struck me was the description of the middle, the plum and black pepper. I have not tried any from this house. US

  • I love Initio as a brand and I also love the note of plum, so this one looks like a winner. The plum + Palo Santo, sandalwood, and Oud sounds like a great combination for fall. My favorite Initio fragrance currently is Rehab.

  • I haven’t smelled an Initio that I did love instantly. I’m sure this will be the same and I’d love to win. New Jersey, USA.

  • Very intrigued by the description of freshness and uplifting notes backed by depth and soul. Sounds right up my alley. I enjoy the house of initio. Very beautiful and long lasting scents but favorite has to be absolute aphrodisiac closely followed by Oud for greatness. Thanks for the giveaway! Based in the US

  • Hello!

I think what strikes me more about Paragon is the base of the notes. Sandalwood and Oud are a favorite pairing of notes for me personally. Combining that with Palo Santo and the creamy tones of sandalwood. It sounds like a delightful treat. It also helps to know the top has lavender (another note I’m a fan of). From Initio, my current favorite is Side Effect, the vanilla rum warmthness of it is especially cozy for us during winter in the North East (USA).

  • I have really been enjoying plum notes recently, probably because they pair nicely with the crisp weather. Paragon sounds like another from the house that I will enjoy. My current favorite is Rehab, with Musk Therapy coming in close second. ~Indiana

  • Never was a fan of Oud for Greatness, but Rehab and Side Effect I can certainly do. Love the sound of the piney crispness in Paragon as well as the peppery plum. The hint of mintiness also sounds intriguing. I recall Steven mentioning in his review that the sage made it rather aromatic too? Or maybe it was the palo santo? Anyway, I was originally expecting it to be a super syrupy delight, but it certainly doesn’t sound like it anymore. Uber versatile more like. And there’s nothing wrong with a mass appealling scent! Appreciate Karl’s take. “My opinions are his own” From Canada.

  • Though I am a big fan of agarwood or oud perfumes and Karl says it’s not discernible in Initio Parfums Paragon, I am still intrigued by the other notes, such as sandalwood and lavender. I have tried Oud for Greatness and like it’s quality and strength. Going by that experience I am sure Initio Parfums Paragon is going to be a delightful perfume. Thanks for the review and draw. I’m from the USA.

  • I havent been lucky enough to sample.the brand but I really shoudl get my hands on Oud for Greatness. Paragon’s concept is interesting ans I am drawn in by the plum. Very curious about the opening and how prominent the lavender is. USA

  • Karl take on Paragon made me think of making, and later on eating Japanese Ume Cake , drinking bergamot juice, while sitting on a wooden bench somewhere in Japanese countryside, with some lavender scent also detectable in the air. Happy Pastry Chef in the house ‍
There are two Initio Parfums I know now , and really like, Oud for Happiness, and Side Effect.
When I think of Oud for Happiness ,i’m thinking about Space Cake , with lots of ginger, you can get in most coffee shops in Netherlands, and now in some states in US.
The other Initio Parfums fragrance i know is Side Effect, smells similar to Vanilla Bean Bundt Cake , drizzled with Rum.
I like the versatility , sophistication and the cozy Fall vibe coming from Paragon . Thanks to ,I now need a sample 🙂
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • I had a chance to watch Steven’s video about this fragrance a couple weeks ago and am so excited about it! He mentioned a similar fresh type of spice as Rehab while taking on the sweetness of the plum and that particularly draws me to Paragon. Rehab is my favorite Initio fragrance so I’m wondering how this would shape up! Thanks as always for this review and giveaway!
    USA

  • Paragon sounds perfect for Fall! The central plum note supported by citrus, woods and incense conjures up images of leaves changing color and a feeling of crispness to the air. I’ve tried Rehab from the Hedonist collection and I can see the olfactory “DNA” from the listed notes. Lovely review Karl. I’ve only ever tried Rehab from Initio Parfums. MD, USA.

  • Dproductive1 says:

The plum / black pepper combo has me very curious. But the most striking thing to me is the white sage….I don’t think I’ve ever experienced it in a fragrance. I’m in the States.

  • Robert Rolfingsmeyer says:

Oh man! Anything with Pablo Santo wood is amazing! I’d love to smell this!
My favorite Initio fragrance is Side Effect

  • JaMichael Sanders says:

Initio has an abundance of great fragrances such as side effect, Oud for Greatness, Musk Therapy and so on. What drives me to this fragrance is the notes of plum and Palo Santo. The combination of the two I haven’t experienced before. If it’s well crafted like the other Initio fragrances I know that this will be a instant hit for the masses.

    I reside in Virginia!

  • i have always wanted to try this house. I really appreciate the opportunity to win this and enjoyed the review. Oud has always been one note that I have been very careful with. as a novice when it comes to oud really, I have always tried ones that seemed more conservative. As you say this one seems to have light touches of oud along with some of my other favorite notes such as sand the wood and bergamot. I have also never experience the Palo Alto wood note and I’m rather interested to try it period. As I have heard so many great things about their other fragrances I’m sure this one will not disappoint. Thank you. USA.

  • Bryant Worley says:

What strikes me is the balance and cohesion of the fragrance. All of the notes work together, starting from the “explosive” and “sparkling” opening to the spicy mid, and to the creamy base. But, to be pointed, I like the Plum effect in the fragrance. I really enjoy a fragrance featuring plum.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

I’ve only tried Initio Side Effect, so that’s my default favorite.

  • Jacob D Savitt says:

Paragon sounds deep and sensual which is what strikes me the most about it. Initio is so good about getting that richness in its frags which is why I love Side Effect, Blessed Baraka, and OFG the most. But this would be a great add!

  • I love the sound of Plum and Sandalwood, I would love a chance to win this! The bottle also looks amazing and classy. I’m from Puerto Rico.

  • What more needs to be said, Lavender, Plum & Oud. That blend in itself would be a mesmerizing scent now with the added creativity from Initio im sure this is a masterpiece of a scent. Both my wife and I are huge fans of Musk Therapy as we both wear it and enjoy it greatly.

  • kelvinz6820 says:

What strikes me most about Paragon is the transition between a citrusy freshness with a clean floral note to a juicy sweet plum. Usually plum is combined with rum accords. This unique transition makes me wonder the degree of versatility of this fragrance. I’m from New York, USA.

  • I am most intrigued by the uplifting notes in the forefront combined with deeper, soulful ones in the mid and base. THe combination of notes sound perfect for this autumn. My favorite from the house thus far is Musk Therapy. USA

  • Omg, I am a huge fan of Initio Parfums, being Oud for Hapiness my favorite one. I think that the quality they manage is just outstanding and I am sure this one is just another masterpiece.
The lavender, sandalwood and white sage make this an uplifting fragrance and something I am eager to try.
    USA here.

  • I have tried various fragrances from Initio and Paragon sounds right up my alley. I enjoyed reading Karl’s description of Paragon; a fresh opening leading to sensuality and spiciness sounds perfect for autumn. Anything described as having a syrup-like quality is a must-try for me. I really enjoy the smell of palo santo and the combination of notes sounds especially intriguing. Plum, sandalwood, sage, and lavender sound like great additions to the palo santo and other woods.

The image Karl took of Initio Paragon is beautiful, as well as Michelyn’s photo of those autumnal leaves.

My favorite fragrance from Initio is Psychedelic Love but I greatly enjoy Side Effect, as well. Thank you, Karl, for the great review, and thank you to Fine Fragrances Distribution for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

  • I love plum notes and the combination with incense sounds really unique! I haven’t had the opportunity to try any Initio scents yet but Paragon sounds like the perfect place to start. I’d love to be entered in the giveaway! I’m in MN, USA

  • This sounds/reads as a fantastic new release from Initio house. I love the combo of black pepper, lavander, and sandalwood. My favorite that I have tried is Oud for Greatness, once it dries down. Thanks for the draw! US.

  • I own Oud for Greatness , considered by many the best one in Initio Parfums catalog , and I’m sure I’ll also enjoy Paragon . The first is formal occasions only fragrance , the way i wear it at least, but the Paragon relative is more versatile, and easy to wear , from day time family gatherings , playful nights, to going out with friends , or weddings . The fresh start, and fruity-spicy base , with hints of incense combination Karl told us about i find really tempting.
Long lasting fragrances are always welcome , and I think all Initio Parfums fall in the same category.
I’ll be happy to win elaborate fragrance like Paragon
    Thanks for the draw

  • This one has my interest. I’ve seen a few of my favorite Youtubers talk about this one. I love incense fragrances, but not too much incense so a supporting role sounds good to me. Always great artwork in your articles. My favorite of the line is Blessed Baraka and Side Effect. I know Oud of Greatness is super popular, but too much oud for me, so knowing that the sandalwood is more prominent puts it on my ‘interest’ list for sure. Thanks for the info!! USA.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’ve heard good things about this fragrance, e.g. when Steven G. mentioned it on his channel. From this company, I’ve only tried “Side Effect” and I didn’t like it because it smelled too much like burnt rubber. I’m not giving up, though, on trying to discover a fragrance which I can like from Initio. This new one sounds good and I’d like to see what its notes are like in combination with each other, e.g. the plum with the palo santo, the incense, and the sandalwood. I can like the idea of freshness and depth concerning fragrances. I live in the U.S.A.

  • Thank you Karl. My only experience with Initio fragrances is Side Effect which instantly shot up my all-time favorites list. Paragon sounds truly delightfully suited for the season and I’d be stoked to win the giveaway. I’m in USA

  • IvanVelikov says:

I know 4 Initio Parfums fragrances Side Effect , Oud for Greatness , Atomic Rose and Psychedelic Love , and also in my possession is 7.5ml travel sprayer of Side Effect , my favorite. Now all Initio travel sprays are 10ml , previously they were 7.5ml .
Paragon is right up my alley kind of fragrance, not overly aggressive, cozy , woody, slightly sweet, with really round up characteristics.
Because of Karl I saw myself wearing Paragon with tailor made Maroon wool suit, preferably with Zegna fabrics and made by me.
Thank you Karl, and Fine Fragrances

Thanks for the great writeup Karl.

Initio fragrances are always fun and this is no exception. The combination of plum, with palo alto, paired with creamy sandalwood and that little hint of agarwood to create a contrasting depth of woodiness, along with the pepper, certainly makes for an interesting set of notes.

My favourite would me Oud for Greatness.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • We have one modern, multifaceted fragrance today , with high compliment factor . Being a vain man I need to smell good, but also compliments are important to me.
With Paragon I’ll get a lot of positive attention, smelling amazing. The citruses, the incense, lavender and the plum are all so appealing to me. The plum will give the fragrance the modern feel i’m looking for, making it more enigmatic.
Side Effect i like a lot , and now is in my collection
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

  • “Therapy the Emotional; Paragon takes the Hedonist DNA a dichotomy of freshness and depth and weaves in a luscious plum accord into the mix for the wearer to have a ‘Spiritual’ connection.”

Nice , exactly what I thought it would smell.
It’s interesting how before even reading Karl Topham review,I was wondering if Paragon would share some similarities with the other two Hedonist fragrances
Rehab is one of my husband’s favorite fragrances. Since i wear it too , i can say on him is really spicy, woody aromatic, exactly what he likes , but on me smells similar to Lavender French Hard Candy from L’Ami Provencal i purchase for many, many years from Amazon.
I’m happy for the addition of plum , black pepper in Paragon.
I’ll treat myself with Plum Negroni
    Thank you for the opportunity

What strikes me about Initio Parfums Paragon is how Karl’s detailed review of this sensual, attention, and compliment getting fragrance with a DNA I think I would really enjoy. Sweet and spicy with notes I really enjoy such as Plum, Sage, Lavender, and Palo Santo to name a few. I’m a huge fan of Initio Parfums and can’t wait to try Paragon. My favorite fragrance from Initio Parfums is Side Effect. I am from the USA.

  • What a beautiful review. I really enjoy sandalwood in a fragrance – it creates such a smoothness and comforting vibe. I like that you feel this can be worn both for casual and dressy occasions. That plum note really does sound like it adds such an interesting twist to the composition.
My favorite Initio scent is Psychedelic Love.
    I live in the USA.

  • foreverscents says:

I am here for the plum, one of my favorite notes in perfume. I also love sandalwood and palo santo, and I am happy to read that the agarwood is not too pronounced. The Hedonist collection sounds like a very pleasing and easy-to-wear group of fragrances. I haven’t tried anything from Initio.
    I live in the USA.

  • It sounds amazing. The bright crisp opening to the silky woods stage! I’m always looking for a good representation of Palo Santo in perfumes. This is an Autumn Journey!

  • Paragon features a compelling mix of notes. I’ve enjoyed syrupy plum in other fragrances, but I don’t think I’ve encountered it combined with palo santo, and I’m curious how it melds with the pepper, bergamot, lavender, and white sage. This indeed sounds like a wonderful wear for autumn and I absolutely love that matte white bottle and detailed inlay. Thanks for the review, Karl.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I haven’t tried any Initio Parfums perfumes, but hope to try this one.
