Vilhelm Parfumerie Fleur Burlesque develops at the same natural pace as the burlesque act. It is about movement, the slow and hypnotizing rhythm of the body, slowly unveiled. The anticipation of the next layer is meticulously hidden under each note.
Vilhelm Parfumerie Opus Kore is a story of the anticipation and arrival of spring, composed by Master Perfumer Jerome Epinette. And “compose” is an apt word here. It is as if Mr. Epinette is a master conductor of a grand orchestra with his baton poised still in the air. This orchestral burst of life is in the first spray of Opus Kore, an Ode to Spring. There is the joyous rush of vivid color – pinks, yellow, greens, all backed by a clear, cloudless (and finally warm!) blue sky.
Commodity Rose Bold has deep notes of vanilla, rose and amber which are even darker than the original,(composed in 2018 by Jerome Epinette) with an overdose of patchouli and labdanum. Dark and dense it certainly is. When I wear Commodity Velvet Bold I notice the spicy labdanum and dark and dirty patchouli almost immediately. It is as if I just rode my motorcycle out in the woods to a clearing where my friends have a roaring bonfire going strong
Liis Bo by Jerome Epinette is undemandingly beguiling; it doesn’t make you jump through hoops, challenge your nose, or attempt to impress you – because it doesn’t have to. That’s the point, in fact. In its own quiet way, Bo travels with you like a forest within which reveals itself upon the flesh, murmuring dulcetly to anyone who is willing to listen
In the award winning Floral Street Arizona Bloom, the combination of salted musks, oak moss, cashmere woods and black pepper create what I would call a ‘Sand accord’ – both the pre-sunrise kind of sand, cool from the moon, stars and night and the hot, sparkling, crusty, sun-baked kind of sand. There is also the mineralic scent of heated rocks, shining with a beautiful black patina. You get a sense of the vast expanse of time – the eons, the epochs, the ages – this rock has taken to achieve this shiny black tattoo patina from the sun, so gloriously shiny in that sun.
