Ateliers Des Ors Aube Rubis Review (Marie Salamagne) 2015 +  A Different Fruitchouli Draw

Michelyn Camen of CaFleureBon

Jean-Phillipe Clermont with Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief of CaFleureBon photo taken in 2015 by Megan Paki at Esxence debuting Aube Rubis and the inaugural line

I first met Jean-Phillipe Clermont, Creative Director of Atelier des Ors (pronounced Ah-Tahl-yay-Day-Ore) at Esxence in 2015 at a dinner hosted by Pierre Guillaume!  What a thrill to be there  when he launched his beautiful collection of five perfumes in collaboration with perfumer Marie Salamagne (Cuir Sacré, Lune Féline, Rose Omeyadde  L’Armes du Desert and  Aube Rubis) which as now expanded substantially. Jean Phillipe Clermont was also featured in our Creative Directors in Perfumery ( here).  If you are a regular reader of ÇaFleureBon you know that Atelier des Ors has won numerous Best of Scents from our Editors; including perfumes from the Black, White and Riviera collections— Atelier Des Ors Crépuscule des Âmes,  Bois Sikar, Iris Fauve and Riviera Drive.

Atelier des Ors Aube Rubis review

Atelier Des Ors Aube Rubis collage by Michelyn

What Iris Fauve did to show the many facets of iris, Atelier Des Ors Aube Rubis does for Patchouli, showcasing it in such a way as to gild the scent which opens fresh and fruity, then floral with Iris and earth-woody with vetiver then bathe Aube Rubis in a golden light.

  • Aube Rubis sounds wonderful. I am a fan of the fruitchouli genre and enjoy Tauer’s Fruitchouli Flash. Sebastian seems to indicate the fruit and gourmond notes are elusive, which makes it sound like a nice complex scent. Sebastian, as usual, is fantastic helping me visualize the fragrance. I do not have a favorite from Atelier des Ors since I have not had a chance to sample the house yet, although I have heard great things about others from the house! I would love to be entered into the draw. From Canada!

  • HiMyNameIsWaste says:

I love fragrances that are “earthy and dry.” Patchouli and iris are two of my favorite ingredients, so experiencing those together would be lovely.

My favorite Atelier des Ors scent is Bois Sikar – maybe my favorite guaiac wood scent of all time.

I live in Nashville, TN, USA.

I like patchouli so I’m curious already. And this brand I know very little. Winning a bottle would be awesome to learn more about the brand. Sebastian is always great doing reviews full of info and excitement about each scent. Got me curious about this one. My favorite from the brand is Larmes du Desert 🙂 I’m from Portugal. Thanks.

  • I love the note of patchouliits something I’ve recently just been after in all my scents be it designer or niche. Even today I wore CK Everyone only because if the patchouli note. I was fortunate enough to recently test the latest scent Rouge Saray beautiful scent will purchase soon. I would love to enter the giveaway. Best of luck to everyone entering. Ifty from London, UK.

  • i always love Sebastian’s reviews, but enjoyed this one as I am a fun of Patchouli fragrances that i first experienced when I first moved to San Francisco.
I live In Del Mar, near San Diego.
I have yet to try a Atelier des Ors fragrance, but the bottles and story are lovely, and am doing more research on you now.
    Cheers,
    Dana Shertz

  • Another quality review by Sebastian. I received a sample of Aube Rubies when I bought Thundra by Profumum Roma which is another great patchouli fragrance. I tried it for a few days and it slowly grown on me. On my skin it opens very fresh and green, usually I’m not a big fan of green fragrances, luckily for me it quickly transforms to a earthy powdery iris/patchouli scent with a hint of smoky vetiver. You can definitely smell the high quality ingredients in this one. I haven’t owned or tried many fragrances from this house, But I’m always very interested in how they put glod flakes in the juice. I would love to win this one, and good luck to all.
    Love from France.

  • I like that Sebastian gives a detailed description of all the scents he reviews. I will have to check this scent out. Thanks

  • I am so excited to get my nose on Lune Féline and Aube Rubis from this house and I would appreciate so much if I’d receive a bottle of this premium juice especially with my birthday coming up soon

  • GeminiMendez says:

Thank you for this opportunity! Sebastian’s reviews always paint a beautiful olfactory picture, such as how he described your Ateliers Des Ors Aube Rubis. The combination of sage, iris and patchouli is really fascinating to me. I have been on a quest for my very first niche fragrance for warm weather and hopefully this may be it. Honestly, I have never tried any one of your fragrances but I have always seen reviews on them and I will never forget their presentation. They’re beautiful and bright with gold flakes and all! I just imagine that the bottle is an understatement and the perfume itself is even more beautiful. I live in Chicago, Illinois. Have a wonderful day and take care!

  • Osama Mohamed says:

I like that Sebastian highlights this fragrance is mainly About Patchouli, Vetiver and Iris.. with a hint of gourmand and fruity notes. Amazing!
    From Berkeley California.

  • I always love Sebastian’s reviews. It was good to hear that this is more about the patchouli but the fruit and gourmand hints do sound nice. I’ve never tried anything from the house but I’ve always liked the bottles and the gold flakes from this house. I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • James Turner says:

This sounds fantastic. Still new to the world of fragrance. But catching up as fast as I can. LOL

  • I found it interesting how Sebastian described some of the notes as not fully exposing themselves. I also liked the description of the black currant and praline combination. I am from/live in Westlake Village, California. I have not yet smelled any of the Atelier des Ors scents. Just recently ordered some decants of Crepuscule des Ames because I had to get my nose on it.

  • Patchouli, vetiver ad iris – what a potent set of note. Haven’t tried this but love oriental-woody fragrances. Thanks Sebastian for a onderful review as always. Patchouli has a spiritual vibe, much needed in these times, to calm and uplift oneself. Like the fact that Aube Rubie is not gourmandish, especially as praline is not very strong. Thanks for the generous draw – I am in USA.

  • Leonicia Blue says:

He described Aube Rubis note characteristics very well. This fragrance appears to go through a number of phases before it settle into its base notes. This would be my first experience with this house. I am from the Ohio, USA.

  • Sibyl Haynes says:

I enjoyed Sebastian’s emote because he talked about the various aspects of patchouli. I am looking for a patchouli fragrance that I like because sometimes they are musty! And I live in Seattle, WA.

  • I always enjoy how detailed his reviews can be personally for me this house can be hit or miss. I did thoroughly enjoy the 3 Riviera scents they released last year. TN USA

  • This sounds like a very interesting fragrance and I would love o try it. should I thank Monsieur Sebastian for this? Anyways, he always does good reviews and is a very positive man.

  • Aube Rubis what a gorgeous name. Rubis dawn, so colourful just before sunrise. It’s like the sun wants to shine out of the bottle but is still restraint by the horizon. Just like the berries and the praline that are restraint. This hunkering for more is the addictive factor of Aube Rubis. My top 3 favourites of Atelier des Ors are Iris Fauve, Rose Omeyyade and Lune Feline. Would be nice for them to have another sibling here in Brussels Belgium.

  • Rosemarie Dages says:

I’ve first heard of this house by watching Sebastian’s videos. I have several now that I would like to try. I have not tried any yet so I don’t have a favorite but I’m sure I’ll be trying some very soon. I really enjoyed the description of how this fragrance changes over time. I do enjoy that in a wearing experience. I love patchouli and vetiver so this sounds very interesting. I live in New York. Thanks for the generous opportunity to win a full bottle! Amazing.

  • nikoleayala says:

An earthy dry patchouli that has praline… so intriguing! As always, Sebastian’s review are super detailed, which I appreciate. I’ve yet to try a Atelier des Ors perfume, but being dying to own one of these bottles, so gorgeous! I’m in Maryland, if anyone knows of a place I could sample them nearby, I would appreciate it 🙂 And of course I would be over the moon if I get lucky in this draw.

  • I liked how Sebastian said described the fragrance as being about the patchouli note. Vetiver and pralines with it sounds awesome too. I live in Chandler,TX USA. I have not had the pleasure of smelling any fragrance from this house. So, as of yet, I don’t have a favorite. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • I’ve always wanted a bottle of Atelier des ors. Their fragrances are gorgeous and classy. I am a patchouli lover and iris is also a note that I enjoy. The fruity touch in the opening made it sounds even better. I know Sebastian is also a patchouli lover, I have tried many patchouli fragrances he recommended(les nereides’s patchouli antique is my favorite), they are all really great. I’m sure this one would be fantastic.

  • Victor Caceres says:

Liked Sebastian’s video as I Trust his fragrance reviews. Would like to try the fragrances and love the bottle presentation with the Flakes…Unique

  • Love that new presentation! But what captured me about this one is the pairing with vetiver. Sebastian also mentioned sage, but anytime you get a patchouli that has that rooty green aspect, you can tell it’s a vetiver-in-patchouli (ViP) fragrance. You can have that one. 😉 Glad it doesn’t go fully gourmand though. That can sometimes be a turn-off with green scents for me. Sounds like an interesting one! Favourite AdO remains Lune Feline! Canada.

  • I’ve had my eye on Rose Omeyyade, but Aube Rubis sounds great with the patchouli note. Sebastian says it’s a good fragrance with a touch of praline, sounds yummy. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

  • noseknowsnonotes says:

I’ve only tried 3 Atelier des Ors and Aube Rubis is my favorite! Sebastian is the king of patchouli, so hearing him talk about the nuances of the patchouli is great. I live in the Netherlands.

  • Nice review as always, Sebastian. I love an earthy grounded fragrance. It’s calming and makes me feel at peace. Iris and patch are lovely individual notes and make a wonderful combination. I’ve not tried any of the Atelier des Ors fragrances before. I’m in MD, USA.

  • I like the note breakdown and im happy it doesn’t go to the gourmand territory as Sebastian mentioned.

  • based on Sebastians review this is an earthy dry patchouli with vetiver and iris being the key players while the fruity notes last for the first minutes. I havent tried anything from atelier des ors but id love to. Im in EU

  • Jake Dauod says:

Sebastian’s review was great as always. I love earthy patchoulis and I think the fruity touches would provide a beautiful contrast. I have never tried Atelier des Ors, so I don’t have a favorite, but I’ve always wanted to try Choeur Des Anges. Warm regards from Illinois, USA!

  • Amanda32828 says:

Love the presentation and love citricy notes in colognes. Sadly I only own one Atelier fragrance, Lune Féline and I totally love it. I think this one will be a great addition to my Atelier des Ors collection. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this drawn. I’m commenting from Orlando, Fl.

  • Patchouli is a challenging note for me but it seems Aube Rubis is a friendly patchouli composition, judging from Sebastian’s review. USA

  • Monica Beaton says:

I love Sebastian’s plain speaking reviews – easy to understand, and covers all the aspects of the fragrance. And, I too, am falling more in love with this brand with each release. They are truly beautiful – not just to sniff and wear, but to look at. I love the entire fragrance experience – the revealing of lovely layers, the final aaaahhhhh of the fragrance, the scent of the morning after, and the beauty of the presentation. Ateliers Des Ors is the whole package and I can’t wait to try Aube Ruis. I really cannot name a favourite – I have fallen in love with each one I’ve worn. Thank you Ateliers Des Ors and Caflerebon for yet another generous draw. I live in Australia.

  • Natalia306 says:

Love Patchouli in fragragrance, enjoyed your video about Aube Rubis by Atelier Des Ors. Found attractive your description and that you said about Aube Rubi’s: “unique on its own”! Great new packaging! Thank you Sebastian.

  • patrick_348 says:

I liked the distinction Sebastian made between chocolatey, cakey patchoulis, and the kind of dry patchouli he describes in Aube Rubis. His description of how the currant and praline notes are just hints and not full-blown presences made the scent sound all the more appealing. I am in the US, and am new to Atelier des Ors. I am in the US, in NC.

  • I love me some patchouli!!! The other notes like black currant and violet sound amazing too! I would cherish this scent so much! Thank you for your review and the opportunity! I’m in florida USA

  • Sebastian’s review really piqued my interest in this fragrance. He really knows his stuff when it comes to describing fragrances and this one sounds great. I’ve never tried anything from this house before but I’d love to. Thanks for the great review and the great giveaway. Commenting from Kentucky USA.

  • I absolutely love Sebastian’s reviews and this one sounds like he loves the earthy pathouli, with iris and vetiver. From his review, as a patchouli lover, I need to try this one. This house, Atelier des Ors is a fantastic one. I really enjoy and admire, Crépuscule des Âmes and Lune Feline. Thank you for the chance to try this one. California

  • besar_bears says:

I’m intrigued by Sebastian’s review on how Aube Rubis shows off the different facets of patchouli as it develops.
I’ve yet to encounter any Atelier des Ors fragrances yet… I reside in Singapore.

  • I’ve been really sampling/enjoying a lot of patchouli fragrances lately so Aube Rubis interests me greatly. It sounds wonderful based on Sebastian’s review. Really appreciate his straightforward approach and also it’s very helpful to know which are the dominant notes. Sometimes you can see a notes list and see something on it that piques your interest only to find out that it’s very minor in the composition. Très disappointing ! I have not experienced anything from Atelier des Ors as yet, so if I win this will be the first !

As always, I enjoyed Sebastian’s thorough explanation. He describes the scent of Atelier Des Ors Aube Rubis in such a manner that its scent nearly permeates through the screen. He makes me want to try, buy, and of course win the bottle of fragrance. I have never tried any of the scents produced by Atelier Des Ors, but have wanted to for years. Aube Rubis sounds like one that I would dearly adore. As for my location, I am in Bristol, Tennessee.

  • Hashim Madani says:

Being a patch ho just like Sebastian, I enjoy patchouli in all its flavors + the powdery touches make Aube Rubis even more appealing. VA, USA.

  • Sunny Chaudhary says:

I always love Sebastian’s reviews. It was good to hear that this is more about the patchouli but the fruit and gourmand hints do sound nice. I’ve never tried anything from the house but I’ve always liked the bottles and the gold flakes from this house. I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Firstly, thank you to Atelier des Ors and Cafleurebon for this extremely generous fragrance draw.

I haven’t had the opportunity to sample any fragrances from Atelier des Ors, yet I’ve always admired their stunning packaging with the gold flakes. Atelier des Ors Aube Rubis sounds delicious based on Sebastian’s description.

I am pleased to hear that the perfumer Marie Salamagne has created a fragrance to showcase patchouli in all its glory. I live for earthy, dense and dry patchouli fragrances, and I was most excited to hear that the fruit accords and the praline don’t overwhelm the patchouli in this composition.

Where I live, the Autumn and Winter seasons are quite cold, so a dense, dry patchouli would be suitable for the wintry conditions. I must check out more from this brand.

    Best of luck to all.

  • I love patchouli frags and I think I’ll love this one because I’ve tried Lune Féline and it’s a well crafted work of art. Sebastian hooked us up again with a great review!

  • I live in Yuma Arizona and I love patchouli frags and I think I’ll love this one because I’ve tried Lune Féline and it’s a well crafted work of art. Sebastian hooked us up again with a great review!

  • Laurentiu says:

I am always keen on trying a new patchouli fragrance and this one sounds rather nice with the iris and chocolate thing going on.
My favourite from this house is Lune Feline.

    Thank you!

  • NiceVULady says:

I always love Sebastian’s reviews as you get a real sense of what the fragrance is like. I’ve only tried two from this house and loved them both:Lune Feline and L’Armes du Desert. Patchouli is one of my favorite notes as is Vetiver, so I’m sure I would adore Aube Rubis. Thank you so much for the article and review. Thank you also for this most generous draw. I’m in the USA

  • What I enjoyed most about Sebastiane was the passion and enthusiasm he spoke with about the fragrance, it sounds small but often in reviews you don’t always get someones love for this to translate. So Sebastiane always makes me as enthusiastic about the fragrance as he is when he speaks.

My favourite from the house is rose omyead.

    I’m from Ireland.

  • I like when sebastian gets excited talking about patchouli. Patchouli, Vetiver and iris are my 3 favorite notes, this fragrance is right down my alley. I also own iris fauve from this house and absolutely love it. the bottles are gorgeous.
    from france

  • Great review as always from Sebastian. I really enjoy how he’s covering such a wide variety of fragrances. Many of which I would never have discovered. Have heard of Atelier Des Ors, but never had the pleasure of trying it. Would be honored to be entered in the giveaway. Cheers

  • Recently joined the fragrance game and Sebastian has produced many wonderful and detailed videos that I enjoy.

  • I enjoyed the way Sebastian explained this fragrance. By just looking at the notes prior to this I didnt know this was a patchouli forward scent. So it was nice to know it is but with some fruitiness from the black current, some powdery iris, and a bit of sweetness from the praline along with some woody and earthy vetiver alongside the patchouli. It sounds interesting and I’d love to try it. I also very much want to try Lune Feline and Iris Fauve and Pomelo Riviera as well if I remember correctly, but have not yet tried any from Atelier des Ors. I am in the U.S. Thanks for this great draw!

  • Earthy dry patchouli with vetiver and iris. This sounds fantastic. I’ve never tried this brand before. Would love to have a bottle =^_^=

  • Would love to try this, Sebastian again describes it in an elegant fashion. Love the patchouli and a dry and earthy feel to it. This would be one right up my alley. Haven’t tried any of the house before. Living in the EU

  • miguelm33 says:

I always enjoy Sebastian’s fragrance reviews on a variety of different types of fragrances. What I enjoyed about this fragrance is that it has a praline note and slightly gourmand. I do enjoy sweet smelling fragrances. I do not own any of these fragrances, but I am curious about their Riviera Collection, the fresher fragrances. From Bakersfield, California USA

  • sanvean79 says:

I love their fragrances, Marie Salamagne never gets it wrong. I like Aube Rubis as much as Lune Feline, and like Sebastian said, they could easily have gone full gourmand but instead they are dry and rich. Greetings from London, UK

I really like patchouli so I’m curious already. Winning a bottle would be awesome to learn more about the brand. I’ve never even tried any thing from

I’m a long time Sebastian subscriber, if I need an opinion on any house or fragrance I know I can find it on Smelli g Great Fragrances. Atelier des Ors and Aube Rubis are now on my radar, you made me curious about the fragrance, thanks Sebastian!
I have been searching for an Atelier Des Ors here where I live, in Spain, Madrid but I was not able to find a distributor so I don’t have a favorite Atelier des Ors fragrance. This seems the perfect occasion to start collecting Atelier des Ors.

  • Sebastian´s reviews are always a great insight and often highlight something I wouldn´t know about otherwise. Aube Rubis sounds great since I absolutely love vetiver and iris, and also like patchouli quite a bit. Unfortunately, I haven´t tried any from Atelier des Ors yet but I´m looking forward to trying this one and also Lune Feline, will have to look where I can get some samples.

    I live in Germany

  • I love Sebastian’s reviews for his passion, knowledge, great energy he gives to the audience and of course – he introduced me to the niche world telling about treasures an amazing parfume houses like Atelier des Ors. I had not any chance to smell any of your fragrances before, so now digging through youtube and fragrantica to learn more! Aube Rubis – what an exciting composition for patchouli lover this is. • Big fan of Sebastian and his reviews are always spot on! I particularly like this review because he compares the differences in Patchouli perfumes as they are all different! • abbie road says:

love how Sebastian speaks to each note and he’s so relatable. my favorite atelier would be Choeur Des Anges. usa

  • Sebastian is informative as always. What I liked about this one is the description of it not quite going fruity or gourmand. That the black currant and praline try to come through, but we really only get a hint of them. That sounds very interesting to me. I live in the US and have never tried an Atelier des Ors fragrance.

  • Anastasiia Novosad says:

  • Great review from Sebastian as always. I’ve tested all the juices from this house on my local perfumery shop and i was really impressed about the main line. A lot of quality and complexity in most of them, but the one that catched me the most was Lune Feline, beautiful luxuriant creation. Thank you for the awesome giveaway, i’m in the EU.

I really liked how he talks about the gourmand aspects of this patchouli fragrance and how it’s there in terms of the blackcurrant and pralines but not in an overwhelming sense.

Sebastian has touted many from this house and I always thought it was intriguing with the inclusion of the gold flakes. I’ve always wondered though…is the gold real and, if so, what about all the waste that goes to buyers but never gets used? Anyway, very interested in this scent and would enjoy trying it as I’ve never sampled anything from the house. Appreciate the opportunity for the giveaway. -Virginia, USA.

I’m very curious about the patchouli note in this. Based on Sebastian’s review, this sounds like an everyday kind of scent. And those gold flakes… Love the bottle. It’s Spring scent time here in Texas, USA!

  • I have to say, Sebastian sold me on this one. He is always fantastic, but I know he loves patchouli fragrances and I often shy away from patchouli’s “hippie” qualities. However, his descriptions of the supporting notes on blackcurrant and praline hint at my two favorite presentations of patchouli: the “fruitchouli” and the cocoa/nutty gourmandish patchouli. This is all coated in iris, one of my favorite notes in perfumery! Sebastian seems to have set the stage for what may finally be the first patchouli-dominant fragrance I truly fall in love with. This would also be the first fragrance by Atelier des Ors that I will have tried. I hope I get the chance to dive deeper into this lovely fragrance! I live in California, USA.

  • ElenaChiss says:

I am sure this one is great. Patchouli, iris and chocolate sounds wonderful! I don’t know any from this house unfortunately…

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Sebastian open for me the universe of smells. Larmes du desert will be my next purchase. Greets from Romania!

  • I love how detailed Sebastian is everytime with his reviews and how he described the patchouli in this fragrance as different than other patchoulis and unique. I would love participate to the draw because my appetite for patchouli seems to have opened and I am sure AdO can only do a great one. I am in the EU.

  • I totally enjoy calm of Sebastian, he is always essential in reviews. What i love in this review is that this fragrance is mostly about patchouli, iris and vetiver, they are my favorite scents. Also packaging of all series is amazing. My favorite fragrance from series is Atelier Des Ors Iris Fauve (Iris ^^).

If I’m honest I didn’t like Sebastian’s review that much. This was a first for me since usually I’m a big fan of him. This time his description seemed a bit chaotic and all around the place.

Also the way he described the fragrance I actually didn’t get interested in it, since a few notes he described as being prominent aren’t my favorite. But then I had a quick look at Parfumo and the reviews there and was reminded how different people experience fragrances. Over there it sounded like a completely different perfume. One I’d actually be really curious about.

So if a negative comment about Sebastian’s video doesn’t disqualify me, please enter me in the draw. I’m from Germany, EU and haven’t smelled anything from Atelier des Ors. So no favorites from them…

  • R Griffin says:

What I most enjoyed about Sebastian’s review was simply getting to find out about the feel of the scent in detail as it is often hard to find out about niche scents and if they are something I would be interested in as many reviewers only deal with the new or the most popular. Sebastian on the other hand seems to be on a permanent hunt to find as many scents that he enjoys as possible and tell his community about them in detail and I and may others appreciate this aspect of his videos.

    I am from the UK

I have only sampled a few Atelier Des Ors scents but Larmes Du Désert is the most superb of the scents I have so far tried as I am a fan of incense.

  • I thought Sebastian’s review was helpful in helping me imagine what Atelier des Ors Aube Rubis would smell like…a fruity and gourmandy patchouli sounds fantastic, especially with an undertone of blackcurrant which happens to be one of my favorite notes. Have not tried anyAtelier des Ors fragrances before but would love to check it out. Regards from the USA.

  • Sebastian’s Review accurately gave me a sense of what I can expect to experience from this fragrance. He mentions that the fruit is there but doesn’t really come through, which is great because I was hoping it wouldn’t be too fruity or sweet. I also like how he describes as “earthy” and there is Iris, which is also what I love. I live in the USA. I have Atelier des Ors Iris Fauve and love it!

  • I do like to listen to Sebastian reviewing a fragrance. His passion comes through the words. I was wondering how does it actually smell, the black currant and praline combination he describes.
I live in EU and I hope this will be my fav from the house

  • Camille Sheil says:

This sounds like such a great fragrance. From what I have sampled, I like a lot of the fragrances that feature Patchouli, especially the earthy, dry types. Again, this sounds like it has a slight deserty vibe to it!

I’ve not ever tried any perfumes from Aletier Des It’s but would love to! Thank you SO much for this opportunity! I live in New Hampshire USA!

  • cderrick says:

I am glad that Sebastian mentioned that the praline note doesn’t come through enough to make it a gourmand, because looking at the notes I my mind would have probably gone there. Also great presentation I really like it. I haven’t tried any fragrances from this house…yet. I live in Memphis Tennessee, USA.

I partially blame Sebastian for hooking me on patchouli fragrances!! I really love patchouli in all it’s forms. How Sebastian describes this as dry and not following a lot of the typical patchouli pairings such as chocolate really interests me. Citrus, iris, violet, patchouli, and woods sounds super interesting. I have not had a chance to try this line yet though hear about it all the time and would like to! I live in Germany.

  • serephia says:

I do love that there are little flowers in the bottle. Such a beautiful presentation, and I love the idea of a fruit + patchouli. It sounds delightful, fruity and gourmand. Definitely on my list to try. USA

  • What a amazing description by Sebastian. Patchouli, iris and vetiver – sounds very beautiful and powerful. But as I know Atelier des Ors – it will be very potent , but subtle and elegant. I like Iris Fauve and Lune Feline.

Aube Rubis is one of the few Atelier des Ors fragrances I do not know.
Earthy patchouli and vetiver, mixed with some fruitiness and sweetness to balance the fragrance in a right way. Why I do not know Aube Rubis?
I’d like to win a bottle of this beauty.
My gold medal for the best Atelier des Ors fragrance goes to Lune Feline, silver one to Iris Fauve and bronze to Bois Sikar.
    Thank you for the opportunity
I hope soon I’ll be able return to my usual routine of back and forth between USA and Scotland, but for now I’m in Virginia only.

  • Michael Prince says:

Sebastian, great review of Atelier Des Ors Aube Rubis. This sounds so good with an earthy patchouli fragrance grounded with vetiver and iris. I also like the fruity touch of juniper up top. My favorite Atelier Des Ors fragrance ia Riviera Drive. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • Modern take on the classical patchouli and vetiver combination, without making the fragrance childish. Well made I’m sure.
Rose Omeyyade is my favorite Atelier des Ors fragrance, birthday gift I received from my sister 2.5 years ago. I’m wearing it on special occasions only.
Thanks to Atelier Does Ors for the chance, and to Sebastian for his review.

  • I’ve never tried or sampled any of Atelier Des Ors so far, but this sounds like a wonderful entry into patchouli. It sounds like an overall lively scent grounded with vetiver! A sweet tinge but not too sweet as Sebastian alluded to, but along with the listed notes it seems like it can work well on both men and women. I’m in California, USA!

Sebastian’s reviews are always insightful. He provides a greater context to what a fragrance entails with regards to their notes, how it smells on skin vs paper, and his experience with the fragrance itself. Sebastian really knows how to personify his wording when describing and fragrance, so it feels like you’re smelling the fragrance he’s reviewing through your ears. This video was no different. Ateliers Des Ors Aube Rubis has recently piqued my interest since it incorporates iris. I originally thought this fragrance was very iris heavy, but after Sebastian gave a fabulous note break down of the top, mid and dry down I was even more satisfied! If I don’t win this giveaway (which I really hope I do) I might just buy the fragrance anyways.
    Love from Fremont, CA.

  • Uncle1979 says:

I have smelled 2 Atelier des Ors creations and Lune Feline is my favorite , even though Bois Sikar is pretty good too. Lune Feline is one of the few fragrances I bought the same day after initial testing. Usually I do like to sample first, especially when I’m paying retail prices.
For every gourmand and vanilla lover – try it. One of the best vanilla fragrance ever created. And I know vanilla well being Pastry Chef.
Aube Rubis reminds me of sitting on top of a pile on patchouli leaves, and eating black currant chocolate cake.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

I like how Sebastian fully explains all the notes and his impressions of how they reveal themselves. I’ve smelled this fragrance and love it because I am also a #patchho! I live in Maryland, USA and thank you for the chance to win!

  • quite interesting from sebastian: a bergamot grapefruit opening, and a fruity patchouli base—not a chocolate cakey patchouli. a definite try for me here in the US. no fav atelier des ors fragrance—yet! TY for the draw

  • I love the presentation of Atelier des Ors fragrances. My favourite are Iris Fauve and Nuda Veritas. I guess this one is also going to be a hit as I like patchouli notes. Sebastian is my favourite youtuber and this is the only perfume channel I subscribe. He is very accurate when it comes to describing fragrances (try yourself to see how difficult it is) and I bought some fragrance on the basis of his reviews. Tomasz from Poland.

  • I have never had a chance to try anything from Atelier Des Ors, but I always wanted to. Aube Rubis sounds fabulous from Sebastian’s review. I very enjoyed the video. Thank you very much for the chance. I live in Europe.

I adore Atelier Des Ors passion, history and bottle appearance. Hearing S. talking about them was a pleasure!

I’ve recently started livening and craving patchouli which is quite a shock to me as I’ve always thought I hated it! I’ve not yet tried any of this house but I’m looking forward to the IG Live discussion! These bottles are also so beautiful. As always, Sebastian’s review has peaked my interest in this one! Thank you for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • LORI LAWS says:

Excellent review by Sebastian! I always enjoy Sebastian’s description of the notes as well as his knowledge of the brand. This fragrance sounds amazing because I am a patchouli lover. I am intrigued by the black currant and praline notes with the patchouli in this fragrance. Thanks for the giveaway and I live in the US!

  • petergigov says:

Vetiver and patchouli is masculine combination. Suit fragrance I would wear on business meetings , and on dates. Not an everyday scent. Usually such fragrances are compliment magnets, and compliments are important to me.
I’m not yet familiar with Atelier des Ors.

  • Aube Rubis what a gorgeous name. Rubis dawn, so colourful just before sunrise. It’s like the sun wants to shine out of the bottle but is still restraint by the horizon. Just like the berries and the praline that are restraint as Sebastian so eloquently put in yet another of his great videos. This hunkering for more is the addictive factor of Aube Rubis. My top 3 favourites of Atelier des Ors are Iris Fauve, Rose Omeyyade and Lune Feline. Would be nice for them to have another sibling here in Brussels Belgium.

  • Teresa Parker says:

You had me at Patchouli!!! What a beautiful bottle and description so y

  • IvanVelikov says:

I don’t mind sweet fragrance, but this time I’m happy to know gourmand notes are present, but restrained. Multifaceted fragrance suitable for all ocasions is what I expect from Aube Rubis.
To me Atelier Des Ors equals class , beauty and creativity , but most importantly equals Rose Omeyyade . If i have to describe it with one word it will be phenomenal. Not only it smells gorgeous , but gets me huge amount of compliments. I do not wear fragrances just for compliments , but it’s nice to be noticed .
Thanks Sebastian – good job as usual , and of course thanks to Atelier Der Ors .

  • Great review. I’ve never tried anything from this house. It seems a good all year around scent. From California

  • As always Sebastian breaks down the notes, starting from the base to the top notes which I appreciate. I love the gold flakes in the bottle. I think they make it more desirable. My favorite is Bois sikar.
    I live in USA.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Being Atelier des Ors fanboy I have smelled all their fragrances, excluding the brand new Rouge Saray .
Aube Rubis opening exactly what Sebastian said earthy patchouli, but when it dries down sweetness is getting more prominent, like I’m smelling slightly burned caramelized plums, it’s a bit tart too. High class fruitchouli .
My favorite Atelier des Ors hmmm Bois Sikar maybe?
    Thanks a lot.
    Stuck in USA.

  • I know Atelier Des Ors by name , but unfortunately i have never smelled their fragrances . I do remember Sebastian did a few Atelier Des Ors YouTube reviews .There was Rose Omeyyade mini review , and some draws on Cafleurebon a few months back.
Everyone is praising this fragrance house for a reason i presume. It’s perfect time to dig in.
Aube Rubis is playful one, I’m certain I’ll enjoy a lot.
Thanks to Jean-Paul Clermont for this amazing giveaway

  • Always love Sebastian’s reviews–I’m always hoping he’ll narrow down my “must sample” list and somehow it just gets longer! Thanks for the review & the draw. I’m in the US and this line is new to me.

Aube Rubis is gorgeous. I only have a small sample…. Love it!! Also loving Lune Feline from this house. Beautiful presentation as well. Greetings from the UK seaside…
