Top Ten Perfumes of 2024 (Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen) + Part 2 Giveaway

Top Ten Perfumes of 2024 CaFleureBon

Michelyn’s and Ermano’s Top Ten Perfumes of 2024

In Part 1, Editor Ermano Picco and I began with an overview of the best perfumes as well as trends of 2024. Ermano lives in Milan, Italy and I live in New York City. We finally saw each other at Esxence in 2024, after five years. Often, I am asked is there a difference between how people from different countries judge perfumes? This year there are only two overlaps between us but as we continue with the teams of editors throughout the next few days, who hail from many countries, there are quite a few that made their respective top ten perfumes of 2024.

Ermano’s Top Ten of Perfumes of 2024

In the ever-evolving world of perfumery, 2024 has proven to be an interesting year where, among a plethora of derivative uninspired launches, creativity and artistry found their way through emerging talents pushing boundaries, and prominent perfumers still outdoing themselves with crafting fragrances as a proof perfumery can still be a true works of art. These perfumes do more than catch compliments and please crowds; they tell stories, evoke emotions, and reflect a deep interplay of culture, innovation, and craftsmanship.

That’s what I look for in my top ten perfumes of 2024, exceptional quality and flawless execution, but also the power to become a unique expressive medium. Let me unveil the artistic and high-quality perfumes launched this year that not only impressed me, but also spoke to my heart, making them an unforgettable olfactory experience. Join me as I delve (in alphabetical order) into my fragrant top ten of 2024.

CaFleureBon 2024 Top Ten Perfumes

Masque Milano Alcove (Karine Chevalier): Inspired by the tale of Bahram Gur visit to the sandalwood pavilion of Princess Yaghme, the daughter of the Emperor of China, Masque Milano’s Alcove is not just among the best releases of 2024, but for offering an olfactory journey in a fabled realm. Independent perfumer Karine Chevallier succeeded to elevate the matter of what fragrant dreams are made of, Mysore sandalwood, to a kaleidoscope of sensations where the nose spins around from the sparkling opening with fruity greenery from the pavilion garden, down to a sensuous spiral landing on the Princess alcove, feeling the almost human warmth of precious sandalwood, rose, and troubling vetiver.  The sumptuous amber trail in the base is totally captivating, and although it doesn’t make Alcove smell like love, for sure it makes it a sandalwood perfume for the records. @masque milano  @karine.chevalier

Estée Lauder Azurée Legacy (Anne Flipo): Disclaimer: I always had a soft spot for the original 1969 Azurée, not for specific links to any personal memory, but for the unmistakable Bertrand Chant signature that connects it to an era of subversive aesthetics, and gender fluidity ahead of the times. Part of the Legacy Collection, Azurée Legacy reimagined by perfumer Anne Flipo under the creative baton of Frédéric Malle strikes for its woody-green profile, so up to date to wear like an “emerald” ancestor of Malle’s Synthetic Nature. The intense aromatic floralcy of the heart with tarragon, jasmine and carnation makes it so deep and provocative still nowadays, to make it something for the records and sets it to be the best revival of 2024, making it one of my top ten perfumes of 2024.

Frassai Dormir al sol (Irina Burlakova): Slow perfumery for a slow living. This could be the perfect claim for Frassaï Dormir al Sol. Indeed, this fragrance sweeps you away to an ethereal coastal dreamscape where perfumer Irina Burlakova elevated sun-laden mimosa blossoms to a wellbeing golden pillow where you can snuggle and forget every toil. Opening with vibrant notes of peppery green citrus, Dormir al Sol magnifies the heart of mimosa with a dash of boozy vanilla and saffron that fade into a sweet tobacco bed inviting to relent and enjoy the beauty of simple (yet not banal) things in life like an exquisite perfume. @frassaï @natalia_outeda @perfumer.irina.burlakova

Jacques Fath Encens Copal (Jean-Christophe Hérault): The collaboration with master perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault already yielded the brand two exquisite fragrances like Jasmin de Toscane, and Vetiver Gris. The latest outcome Encens Copal though, really exceeded for its take on a classic note like incense, set vivid mediterranean colors. It’s white copal incense on a joyride from Mexico to the French Riviera, hurling down the citrus trees, rolling in mastic teardrops, and gathering iris flowers and fresh hazelnuts.  Sacred yet glamorous, Encens Copal sparkling trail conveys Jacques Fath’s legendary “Joie de Vivre” through flawless balance. @jacquesfathparfums @jeanchristopheherault

Best Fragrances of 2024 award

Eau de Boujee Infleurno (Pia Long): I already knew Creative Studio Olfiction Limited founders Pia Long and Nick Gilbert, but it’s only earlier this year that I had the chance to smell their brand.  One of the top ten perfumes of 2024, Infleurno not only bears a brilliant name, but it’s also a textbook example of creative coherence when it comes to perfume development. Inspired by the myth of Persephone rising from hell and blooming on earth, this amazing fruity floral renders the cruelest month with the crispness of magnolia smoothed by velvety apricot hues of osmanthus. Pia Long seems to enjoy heavenly spring for the climate, but to prefer hell for the company as the sulphur tart notes and burnt incense make the chypre baseline among the sexiest ones I have recently smelled, solidifying Infleurno among the year’s best releases this year and for both of us top ten perfumes of 2024. @boujeebougies @perfumer.pia @nickrgilbert

Cartier La Panthère Elixir (Mathilde Laurent): Crafted by Cartier’s in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent, La Panthère Élixir stands out as the best commercial release on the shelves, and surely best flanker of the eponymous successful fragrance launched ten years ago (it’s a tie with the Édition Soir). The restyle of the refillable bottle emphasizes now the panther’s head with more organic features, matching all the way Cartier’s iconic jewelry.

Oz Parfum Lilith – Sombre héroïne (Pierre Bénard Ségu): When a sublime inspirational imagery meets masterful craftsmanship in a daring olfactory shape a perfume lover can’t help but rejoice greatly. When the resulting fragrance is also housed in an exquisitely handcrafted porcelain flacon, the only word is gesamkunstwerk. This is the case of Lilith – Sombre Héroïne by Pierre Bénard Ségu, an emblematic tuberose interpretation perfectly balancing all the aspects of the mystery flower absolute: the sharp greens of minty cardamom, the dewy muguet crispness, the milky voluptuousness, as well as the ravaging trail of sensuous sandalwood. Its authentic, bold signature along with its undoubted refinement are the ultimate expression of the French savoir faire when it comes to indie perfumery, and on my top ten perfumes of 2024 for sure. @oz_parfums @osmoart

If you live in the New York Area, meet Pierre at The Fragrance Alliance Network February 15th, read more and buy your ticked here. -Michelyn

Hiram Green Philtre: Inspired by the legendary love story of Tristan and Isolde, independent natural perfumer Hiram Green launched in 2024 Philtre, which immediately won me over for the richest, multilayered rendition of carnation  I  have smelled in decades.. Opening with a peppery blast, it reveals a captivating floral and balmy explosion that’s totally awesome. @hiram_green

Le Jardin Retrouvé Violet Kew (Maxence Moutte): “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance” – In 2024 I attended 3 international perfume shows, and smelled more than 500 new launches, but nothing like Le Jardin Retrouvé Violette Kew embodies at best these words of Coco Chanel. Crafted by perfumer Maxence Moutte, this optimistic field of violet flowers sings its charming classic melody orchestrated with deeper modern counterpoints. Effortlessly elegant, Violet Kew is something you long for when nothing seems to fit your bill, olfactory speaking. @lejardinretrouve @maxencemoutte

Tayshaba Cache Myrrhe: Mentored by Perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, Ms. El Khalifa crafted her own brand Tayshaba pouring French savoir faire and her Sudanese heritage. Cache Myrrhe is the composition that struck me as the best example of this cultural encounter, for myrrh shines like a cabochon chatoyant gemstone glowing in crimson rose reflections set against the hypnotizing peach-chypre tiger eye grain. Blending classic perfumery and unconventional African hints, El Khalifa’s creations like Cache Myrrhe are so qualitative, multifaceted, and unique they gave me new hope that Artistic Perfumery’s not dead. @tayshaba.paris

Ermano Picco, Editor

What are the top ten perfumes of 2024

In no particular order my top ten perfumes of 2024 (I have 13, a lucky number). –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Astrophil & Stella In Extremis (Meo Fusciuni): When I learned Meo Fusciuni was the nose, and that Caravaggio was the muse, my heart quickened. I was not disappointed; Astrophil & Stella In Extremis is the essence of the revolutionary painter made liquid. There is an intense realism, perhaps a bit unsettling at first that draws you in. Dark and light, a study in defiant chiaroscuro.

Badar Parfums Estelle (Margaux LE PAIH-GUÉRIN): The first launch from Badar Parfums, my best discovery of 2024, Estelle, is an example of a gourmand done right. Rich, resinous and luxurious with a stunning honeyed plum note, it smells uniquely modern yet with a touch of classic French perfumery.

The Different Company Red Burning Night (Marion Costero): Created by Brazilian perfumer Marion Costero of Givaudan, Red Burning Night is quite possibly the most sensual jasmine I have smelt in quite some time. Jasmine flowers bloom through the baked and dusty ground under a canopy of stars. @thedifferentcompany

Eau de Boujee Infleurno: Perfumer Pia Long and Creative Director Nick Gilbert bottle the myth of Persephone, the goddess of spring and Queen of the Underworld as she waves goodbye to Hades in this charred sulphuric fruity chypre. You will see Infleurno in a number of our editors top ten perfumes of 2024-Michelyn Camen @boujeebougies @perfumer.pia @nickrgilbert

Hiram Green Philtre: Our natural perfumer of 2024, Hiram Green has composed a modern day love potion is the most photorealistic carnation fragrance I have smelt, with a nod to Caron’s Belladogia, (although Hiram goes his own way). With a crisp dark clove-like bite this is what carnations were meant to smell like. I am under its spell.  @hiram_green

Meo Fusciuni BUIO (Guiseppe Imprezzabile)

Everything is dark around the house.

I was little when I prayed to the Angels.

I was little when I believed in the sky.

I would like to cover everything with this darkness,

I would like to close my eyes and smell only its scent. -Meo Fusciuni

A great perfume must tell a story that is authentic and resonates with the wearer. In BUIO  (dark or darkness in Italian) Guiseppe Imprezzabile, (my perfumer of the year) gives us a glimpse into his soul as he battles the darkness that surrounds him. BUIO is indeed a dark perfume, it challenged me with its inky dark notes of cade, Frankincense and then transformed slowly into the equivalent of olfactive hope; the warmth of amber and labdanum is like a shaft of sun through the starless night. We have all battled despair in our lives, and BUIO reminds us we must embrace it before you see the light. @meofusciuni

Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova (Patricia de Nicolaï): Pavlova is an elegant and impressive olfactive dessert that elevates  the gourmand category into haute Parfumerie. Madame de Nicolai has created a luscious, yet airy fruity delight, that winks at the renowned ballerina Anna Pavlova, which some sources credit for the cake’s name. En Pointe, Madame.

Voyage Imaginaires Comme Un Gant (Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal): There is something to be said about a perfume that you wear each night before going to sleep. Sandalwood, vanilla, and coconut create a soft aura, an olfactive pillow, that quietly sings a soothing song on my skin, lulling me into slumber. Serenity in a bottle; brought to us by two of the most revered women in perfumery.

Top Ten Fragrances of 2024

Marc-Antoine Barrois Tilia (Quentin Bisch): In a year of outstanding florals, Tilia shined like the star in the brand’s imaginary constellation. Tilleul is the French word for Linden Blossom, and here it is intoxicating and softly sensual in the best possible way, surrounded by jasmine and seductive woods. Where I grew up, the streets were lined with linden blossom trees. I remember as a young girl, my dad taking me out at dusk as the sun was setting and lifting me to smell them. I remember almost fainting from pleasure as the air was filled with their heady aroma, and a hint of the bark  clung to my fingers long after. That is the magic of perfume, to instantly recreate a scent memory in a single spray. @marcantoinebarrois @quentinbischperfumer

Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge (Chris Maurice): In an orchard of peach perfumes this year, Peach’s Revenge was a real standout. Is she juicy? Yes, but she’s also a little tipsy from the amaretto she’s been drinking. Peach’s Revenge has an old Hollywood glamour vibe reminding me of Jean Harlow, silky and curvy, but with sharp nails of amber and a bad-girl edge. @houseofsarahbaker @cdlaniche

MATIERE PREMIERE Santal Austral EXTRAIT(Aurelien Guichard): I referred to the many extraits that were released in 2024, some of the best were from MATIERE PREMIERE and it was difficult  to choose  just one to feature in my top ten perfumes of 2024. I chose Santal Austral Extrait as it seamlessly brought together two dualities; silky white woods with the hero ingredient Black Cardamom Absolute from Nepal (which is unique to MATIERE PREMIERE). Sandalwood is known for it calming effects, but Santal Austral Extrait is sexy and ready for an evening out.

Essential Parfums Neroli Botanica (Ann Flipo): In the masterful hands of Ann Flipo, Neroli Botanica brings me summer all year long. More floral, than citrus, this genderless fragrance is a new spin on orange blossom; lush, green, solar and woody. It is one of the best orange blossom fragrances I have ever smelt, with exceptional longevity. Neroli Botanica (the 10th for Essential Parfums) takes me to a warm, happy place with each spray. @essential. parfums  @annflipoperfumer

Kajal Äican (Huseyin Erdogmus, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel and Gokhan Simsek EPS Fragrances): As I wrote in Part 1, “Äican, pronounced “I can” is an Arabic term representing gold that has been purified of all imperfections. A piece can be hidden beneath layers of earth and stone, yet even through the darkness, its radiance is not lessened.” This is very much how Kajal Äican unfolds, in layers. Opening with tropical fruit blended seamlessly, so that there’s no need to pick out each note. The next layer uncovers a spicy and dramatic complexity that reveals hints of gold in the ginger at the heart. As we near the drydown, more gold brilliance shines in amber and tawny vanilla. Äican is one of my top ten perfumes of the year because of its radiance and the confidence I feel wearing it. @kajalperfumes @epsfragrances

I just adore these lists. I’m excited to get my nose on some of these listed to see for myself what makes them worthy. I have no doubt I’ll be able to detect excellent craftsmanship and unique profiles. I especially would love to get my nose on Estelle, as I can see wearing her would bring me joy. As far as the draw, it’s very hard to choose. I think Kajal’s Äican would be something fantastic to wear and the most versatile for me. I hope everyone had a joyful holiday and that you bring in the new year with gratitude and blessings. I live in Oregon.

  • Roshan Mathew says:

Great selections! Influerno and Comme un Gant, Dormire el sol and Encens Copal all sound really good to me! Have tried Tilia but Getting samples of the others right away! I am in the US and would love to win Frassai Dormire el sol!

  • I also love these lists. I can tell I have similar tastes to Michelyn. I’ve sampled some of the fragrances she mentions and loved them as well. I’m now going to look up all the others she has on her list and work on getting samples. I would love to win Kamala Aican.
    Utah, USA

  • I think that it’s a great list that’s useful and helps to chose some beautiful perfumes and I really appreciate this. I would love try out Kajal ÄICAN. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU. I would love to win Kajal ÄICAN

  • I just started a list and I’m writing down all that I need to sample based on your top fragrances. This year I have only tries a few of those that are mentioned in this post. For example Tilia…it is such a magnificent fragrances. I proudly own a bottle! The most interesting that I really need to tru next is the Frassai Dormer al Sol and Boujee Bougies Infleurno. Both sound amazing. I already love Frassai and I’ve heard great things about Boujee Bougies even before this post. From those that are offered as a giveaway I’m choosing Frassai Dormer al Sol of course. I’m from Illinois, US. Cheers!

  • These blogs make me wish there was there was a shop down the road from me where I could try all the various fragrances listed in one massive browsing spree. Although, the beauty of niche perfumes is that they’re always slightly out of reach. They might only be available in one shop across the globe or cost an absolute fortune, but that just makes them so much more enticing. I’m hooked on this stuff and I become more entranced by the day. I love that so much credit and praise goes towards the perfumers in these reviews. It makes it feel personal rather than being a lifeless advertisement designed to glorify everything. After inspecting the three fragrances on offer for the giveaway, I was scratching my head, wondering what to go for. They all look amazing. I’ve never tried any of them before though, so I had to choose the one that’s most probable to align with my taste. Frassaï Dormir al Sol immediately stood out to me. Anything with natural, woody notes will inevitably suit me but I also love the simplicity of its design and the inclusion of notes such as mimosa and black pepper. Had it not been for the blog, of course, I would never have heard of it. Happy new year and thank you for sharing these wonderful fragrances with us. Greece, EU.

  • Thank you for sharing your top ten fragrances of 2024. I am particularly intrigued by Tilia by Marc-Antoine Barrois. The idea of a fragrance inspired by the linden tree and its soothing qualities captures my imagination. I am drawn to how this scent could evoke both elegance and comfort, and I would love the opportunity to experience its artistry. Thank you for the chance, and warm holiday wishes to the ÇaFleureBon team!

  • I haven’t tried any of the listed scents, though I have sampled from some of the perfumers who created them. I actually made a list of things I’d like to try from these descriptions, starting with the Estee Lauder, which is a suprise as it’s never been my go-to brand, and ending with Red Burning Night, another suprise as jasmine can go odd on me. But such persuasive description leads me this way. If picked, I would select teh Encens Copal (yup, on the try list now). I live in the US.

  • Among your best perfumes, I want to try Tilia, Infleurno, buio, neroli botanica but the one that intrigues me the most is Aican “Äican, pronounced “I can” is an Arabic term representing gold that has been purified of all imperfections. A piece can be hidden beneath layers of earth and stone, yet even through the darkness, its radiance is not lessened.” I find it so powerful as an inspiration, I really have to smell it! I live in France, EU.

  • PerfumesforLife says:

Excellent review of a busy year. I found out that I did not smell enough new productions this year. I was intrigued by Kajal’s Aican since I am a fan of spicy fruity creations. Neroli Botanical also is super interesting as a summer unisex fragrance. Peach’s revenge is also super interesting as I am a fan of fruity notes. I would be interested in trying Kajal’s Aican from the items offered. Thank you very much.

  • As I have been reading your articles, I have noticed how well put together your perfume takes are. I can tell these reviews come from people who admire the craft of perfumery. As for the fragrance that caught my attention, Äican Kajal is the one that pulled me in. First off, I mean the bottle looks beautiful. And the juice inside seems like a tropical get-away(that would be nice just about now). If I were to win the giveaway, I would choose this one. I live in Ma, Usa.

  • Wow! Michelyn, I am delighted to let you know that 7 of your 13 “Best Of” choices are at Indigo Perfumery!

And we agree- In Extremis by Astrophil and Stella, Infleurno by Eau de Boujee, Philtre by Hiram Green, Buio by Meo Fusciuni, Comme Une Gant by Voyages Imaginaires, Tilia by Marc-Antoine Barrois and Neroli Botanica by Essential Parfums are stellar perfumes!

  • Michelyn and Ermanno’s ‘Best of Fragrance’ post part 2
beautifully captures the essence of a remarkable year in the perfume industry. Their top 10 selections highlight the incredible diversity and creativity that emerged, showcasing innovative compositions and unique scent profiles. It’s a testament to how perfumes can evoke emotions and tell stories, allowing us to explore different facets of olfactory artistry. An inspiring round-up that truly celebrates the richness of fragrance! I would love Encens Copal I am in the USA.

  • I love how varied the selection is and no overlap between Michelyn’s and Ermano’s picks. These Matiere Premiere extraits are certainly fragrances I’d like to sample as well as Kajal’s Aican. I love that also smaller niche houses and independent perfumers are getting their moment in the spotlight and being featured here for pushing the boundaries. Sometimes what prevents us from trying many of these fragrances is accessibility as they’re not readily available everywhere but we can only hope that changes soon. If I were to win, Kajal’s Aican would be my choice as I have been looking for an invigorating fruity fragrance for the summer. I’m located in the USA.

  • I’m not really a gourmand guy, but Pavlova sounds interesting! The Fath Encens Copal would be my preferred bottle for the drawing. Thanks!

  • What an array of perfumes 2024 brought us! I can’t help but wonder what direction we’ll be going in, olfactorily speaking, for 2025.

Thank you for your reviews, and I’m looking forward to Nikoleta and Ida’s wrap ups as well. It’s so interesting to hear what speaks to everyone individually.

I live in the USA, and would absolutely love to win Encens Copal.

  • I’m looking forward to sniffing Alcove. I’m drawn to the sandalwood. I love myrrhe and Cache Myrrhe is already on my wishlist. Neroli Botanica, by Ann Filipo sounds perfect for warmer weather with its orange blossom vibe. If lucky, I’d choose Encens Copal. MI USA

  • What sparked my interest is the trend of creative experiments and artistry in perfumery amidst many repetitive releases. I am drawn to the idea of perfumery as an art form and a means of self-expression.

From Ermano Picco’s list, I’m particularly interested in Jacques Fath Encens Copal—a blend of incense, citrus, and florals with a “joie de vivre.”
I’ve also tried Frassai Dormir al Sol—such a delightful mimosa fragrance!
Another intriguing one for me is Tayshaba Cache Myrrhe with its exotic combination of myrrh and rose.

From Michelyn’s list, I’m fascinated by Astrophil & Stella In Extremis, a dark and dramatic scent inspired by Caravaggio. I’ve also tried Essential Parfums Neroli Botanica, which for me is an unusual interpretation of neroli with earthy patchouli. The fragrance plays on contrasts of light and dark, and I appreciate this balance between classicism and experimentation.

It’s truly remarkable how many of these perfumes emphasize cultural roots, craftsmanship, and individuality, making them well worth attention.

I would love to win Jacques Fath Encens Copal.
    I am from the EU.

  • another great fragrance list, infleurno and alcove sound very interesting, but the fragrance that spikes my interest the most is kajal by aican, i’d love to win it
    I am from serbia, EU

  • Lovely list. I have been hearing of Kajal’s Aican for a while and reading if its rich history with the Arabic expression of gold has made it more interesting for me. I would love to own a bottle of it.

    Boston, USA/ Ottawa, ON

  • Love a good list, or two! I know a couple of these, Violette Kew and Frassai’s, and they are indeed noteworthy. I am growingly disappointed by the myriad “niche” launches with fancy background stories but little substance, so your lists give me hope around artistic perfumery surviving against easy moneygrabs. Encens Copal has been on my wishlist to try for a while now, so I would have to choose that, though I will go have a look at Tayshaba now… Best wishes to all from the UK.

  • I just adore these lists. I’m excited to get my nose on some of these listed to see for myself what makes them worthy. I especially would love to get my nose on Estelle, as I can see wearing her would bring me joy. As far as the draw, it’s very hard to choose. I live in USA.

  • just a stunning list of masterpieces.
I love this site because chooses to value each perfume as an experience, describing in all the reviews the images that brings to the mind, and only in the end the notes not really essential to describe parfumes of this caliber.
I would be happy to try any of the three parfumes, but if I have to choose I’d say Aican.
    cheers from Italy.

  • Happy to discover not one but three of this year’s favorites in Michelyn’s list: Santal Austral Extrait, Tilia and In Extremis- I must admit that I purchased them based on your reviews here.

I would love to try Kajal ÄICAN, and winning a bottle would be like an extended Christmas.

Thank you for your generosity of time and information to educate my palate. I must say you guys always spark my interest.

    I live in Portugal/EU

  • These lists are always so much fun! I love to see what I have or have tried and what I missed! Or what I believe should have been on the list. I’m so pleased to see my beloved violet note getting space and Violet Kew is one of my favorites for sure, along with Meo Fusciuni’s Viole Nere. His Little Song is addictive too! There are some others I am completely in agreeance with a few I’d long to try like Infleurno and Cache Myrrhe. I do think Teone Reinthal’s Night Train to Surat Thani should have made the list.
As far as the generous giveaway… ooof tough choices! I think the Encens Copal by
Jacques Fath edged forward by just a hair.
    I am in the USA.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Interesting list of perfumes! Pavlova is my favorite desert but in parfumery I like floral perfume. I am from EU

  • These few words to tell you that I am very proud that Lilith, sombre héroïne has been selected among the Top Ten Fragrances of 2024.

Michelyn and Ermano, this message to thank you for this surprise, this end-of-year gift!

    To your stars!

  • I want to try anything I haven’t tried. For the draw I’ll chose Encens Copal. I’d like to try AICAN soon as well. US

  • The top ten countdown this time makes me want to go shopping. I’m trying to “shop my collection” instead but there are so many exciting perfumes on this list that I haven’t tried. Dormir al Sol sounds positively spectacular, my love for mimosa is intense and my trust in Frassai is through the roof. I love the name and the review likening it to a ‘dreamscape’ with a ‘wellbeing golden pillow’ makes it sound like a balm for the soul. Every Frassai perfume I’ve tried has been sumptuous and meticulously composed. I’d LOVE to win that one…. I’m in the USA, thank you for another great year of blogging and for the draw.

  • Great choices both form Michelin and Ermano. Äican, pronounced “I can” is an Arabic term representing gold that has been purified of all imperfections. But Aican really stood out for me particularly the tropical fruits, vanilla, spices and amber. Thanks a lot from the UK

It was really difficult to choose but Aican with spices, vanilla and amber just sounds mesmerising. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Hello:
I would love to win the Jacques Fath one. I love your content especially on the American indie perfumes. I loved the Francesca Bianchi Voluptuous oud, Sarah Baker Peaches Revenge and everything i tried from Olympic Orchids and Papillon Artisan perfumery. Have a great 2025.

  • Wonderful selection of fragrances. I hope to sample them all. I’m mostly excited about Kajal ÄICAN. This fragrance house is a favorite of mine. The bottle’s are a work of art. My pick would be Kajal ÄICAN. Thank you for this chance USA

  • excellent list, they all sound nice, but Dormir al sol sounds especially captivating, the sweet tobacco scent sounds great, i’d like to try Encens Copal
    EU

  • Thanks for the interesting overview. As always very nice selection. I personally would like to try Meo Fusciuni Buio, Santal Austral Extrait and Jacques Fath Encens Copal. They sound very intriguing for my taste. I would like to win ENCENS COPAL by Jacques Fath as I am a big fan of the brand. I already own Vetiver Gris and Tempete d’Automne which are outstanding in their categories. I like incense based scents, so Encens Copal could be my next favourite one. I find such perfumes very calming and meditative. Greetings from EU.

  • Masque Milano’s Alcove sounds absolutely transcendent. The way Karine Chevallier has transformed sandalwood from a single note into a complete olfactory journey is remarkable.Would love to win the Kajal ÄICAN.

It’s wonderful seeing indie brands like Eau de Boujee receiving recognition alongside established houses. Their interpretation of the Persephone myth through both spring flowers and hellish elements shows such creative vision. I’d love to win Aican.

  • I just discovered Meo Fuscini this past year, having sampled some of his fragrances in a Florence boutique and purchasing a bottle of Spirito, so the two new fragrances did draw my interest. I also smelled Nicolai’s three new gourmands and thought that Pavlova was the best of the three (and gifted a bottle this holiday season). Encens Copal did catch my eye and, if I was lucky enough to be chosen, I would be very interested in this perfume. It sound like a fragrance I would truly enjoy. I live in the US.

  • Citrus Paradise says:

Badar Parfums’ debut with Estelle shows such promise. The combination of modern appeal with classic French perfumery techniques sounds perfectly balanced. Entering for the Kajal’s Äican – their thoughtful approach to composition really appeals to me. (US resident)

  • The description of BUIO particularly moved me – both the perfumer’s raw, emotional poem and Michelyn’s interpretation of the journey from darkness to light. LOVED IT…
Its difficult to choose but I think I’d go with the Kajal ÄICAN.

  • goknitintheocean says:

What varied and tantalizing choices! My interest has been sparked by seeing which scents overlap between your two lists…But I am also surprised by how compelling the choices are which refer to longstanding creators and champions. A New Different Company scent? New Hiram Green? And also, so excited to read about the Legacy Estee Lauder creations. I think the most exciting tidbit was reading about the new Essential Parfums Neroli Botanical, as I’m always in search of an orange blossom/neroli scent with any kind of true longevity. Looking forward to seeking this one out. “Slow perfumery for a slow living” sounds just my speed, so if I win this drawing, I’d prefer Dormir al Sol. Many many thanks, from NYC/USA.

    Happy New Year!

    Deborah

  • Voyage Imaginaires Comme Un Gant represents everything I love about perfumery. The combination of sandalwood, vanilla, and coconut sounds like the ideal bedtime companion. Would love to win the Aican – even though Encens Copal seems more energetic, I’m fascinated by former.

  • I am very curious in the house of Mr. Moe Khalaf. I have yet to try anything from Kajal, but I read and hear only good things when it comes to their creations. Please count me in for Aican. Thank you and good luck to everyone! EU

  • Frassaï Dormir al Sol Looks super cool and ty Michelyn for taking your time writing these up so beautifully

  • wonderscent.mari says:

I am very pleased to read your lists cause most of the houses are quite unknown to me and many of them are already have sparkled my interest to explore them further and to know more about the concept of their creations. I have heard so many about Tilia by Marc-Antoine Barrois, so I want defently to sniff it soon as possible this unique floral and complex scent, and also Alcove by Masque Milano, which sounds so special and such a captivating scent, really love the notes on this one!
If I am lucky enough to try sth of your beautiful selections I would love ÄICAN by Kajal, which is one of my favorite house and also Kajal has been releasing so good gems lately!
Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity! Wish you all a Happy New Year!

  • So, so, so many releases came at us in 2024. it was quite hard to keep up, but I kept on sniffing and came across some real gems. As I mentioned on the previous post Kajal Aican was a winner, as was Iris Palladium from Les Eaux Primordiales. Peach’s Revenge was a homerun for me too. I was afraid it would be too feminine for me to wear comfortably, but its amber and boozy qualities keep it well within the realm of unisex. Of the ones here that I’m most interested in trying, I’d have to go with Meo Fusciuni BUOI and Astrophil & Stella In Extremis. I will have to try and hunt down some samples. If my comment was to be chosen, I’d choose Kajal Aican – it’s lively fruits and spices are truly magnificent and I’d be honored to add it to my collection. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

  • So many perfumes, so many great reviews. I’ve tried and fell in love with Essential Parfums Neroli Botanica and Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova.
I’d love to try Cartier La Panthère Elixir (love Cartier’s work) & Marc-Antoine Barrois Tilia – Linden Blossom, intoxicating and softly sensual in the best possible way, surrounded by jasmine and seductive woods
Brands I’m dying to try are Masque Milano, Kajal & Frassai.
    I’d like Kajal Äican.
    I’m from Croatia, EU.

  • Fragrance collector says:

Would love to win the Kajal Äican – the concept of revealed radiance through layers of scent sounds incredible.
It’s fascinating to see how both Michelyn and Ermano appreciate different aspects: Ermano focuses on the technical mastery while Michelyn connects with the mythological storytelling. So good to read what they have to say.

  • The Different Company’s Red Burning Night has captured my imagination completely. Marion Costero’s vision of jasmine blooming through baked earth under starlight is so intriguing. Entering for the Kajal’s Aican draw.
    I live in the US.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

Looking at the colour pallette of Michelyn’s and Ermano’s top picks, you can tell that they go in somewhat different directions.
I’d personally like to test the scents that both chose , to me, this is an indication that greatness is to be found in those bottles.
I loved Ermano’s motivation when judging & choosing his 2024 favourites from the vast quantity of scented rivers that basically flew this year :).
If Santa would come again this year , I’d be thrilled to win Aïcan. Thank you for your amazing work and a Happy New Year!

  • Having followed Masque Milano since their early days, seeing Alcove recognized is wonderful. The progression from sparkling garden notes through sensuous wood sounds absolutely magnificent. I’d love to win the Aican- another fragrance that seems to excel at storytelling through scent. NYC

  • Entering for Kajal ÄICAN
Reading about itn gave me goosebumps especially the way they described those seamless layers unfolding reminds me of my grandmother’s jewelry box, each layer revealing something more precious. Really want to smell it myself.

  • Great selections! I never heard about a lot of fragrances mentioned here but its really fascinating to learn about them. I’d really love to try Tilia by Marc-Antoine Barrois. The notes profile and the overall description of it is really fascinating.
If I were to win, I’d like to win Kajal’s Aican.

  • whispering moonlight says:

The history behind Estée Lauder’s Azurée Legacy fascinates me. As someone who studies fashion history, the connection to that era of gender fluidity through Bertrand Chant’s original signature is remarkable. Entering for Äican in the drawing.

  • fragtrail909 says:

Sarah Baker’s Peach’s Revenge absolutely delights me! The combination of juicy peach with amaretto tipsiness sounds irresistible. Dormire el sol and Encens Copal all sound really good to me! I think Kajal’s Äican would be something great to wear and I would like to win it.

  • As a vintage film buff, I love the Jean Harlow reference – that mix of silk and curves with sharp amber nails perfectly captures both the golden age actress and what sounds like an incredibly sophisticated peach fragrance. Would love to win the magnificent Aican. I live in the US.
    Thanks for the opportunity.
    Happy Holidays

  • I can’t stop thinking about BUIO after reading the review. The way Guiseppe has translated his emotional journey through fragrance is incredibly moving. His accompanying poem adds another layer of depth to the experience. Entering for the Äican draw.
    US

  • Can we just talk about how bold Eau de Boujee Infleurno sounds? That contrast of fruity and sulphurous notes is something I’ve never encountered before. And then there’s Meo Fusciuni BUIO, which feels like it would ground me after such a wild ride. Both are on my wishlist!
I am in the US and would love to win Aican. Cheers.

  • wow, such great choices. the Hiram Green sounds loveley. sadly none of the shops here has it. of the offered scents the Fath would be my first choice. i live in germany

  • Great selections on both lists. They show that there are quite a few perfumes that achieve what Ermano defines as exceptional quality, flawless execution, telling stories and evoking emotions. That is what defines a great perfume. Only two perfumes are on both lists: Philtre and Boujee Bougies Infleurno by the greats Hiram Green and Pia Long who, not by chance, appear on the first list as Best Natural Perfumer and Most Valuable Perfume Person respectively. I am not a fan of the more floral perfumes but one of my favourites is mimosa and I would love to try Frassai Dormir al sol; I am a fan of incense and sandalwood, I am attracted by Alcove and the journey proposed by Ms. Chevalier; the cozyness of Voyage Imaginaires Comme Un Gant; Santal Austral Extrait with that black note and the sexy black cardamom and the incense that the great master Herault sees through Mediterranean-coloured lenses. I live in Spain, EU and I would like to win the Jacques Fath Encens Copal perfume to embark in this travel to Copan in mexico to mediterranean shores.

  • I will bookmark this page for reference so when i want to try something new, I will have a reference. I would love to try Neroli Botanica, as this is one of my favorite notes, as well as Santal Austral or Comme un Gant (I’m getting into sandalwood, and would rather try one of the year’s best instead of a sandalwood that is simply on sale, esp with the cardamom), the story told by Alcove! So hard to choose! I think I will wish for Dormir al Sol, here in the rainy PNW. Thank you so much for the wonderful reviews and draws through our the year! And thank you to all the perfumeurs who share their knowledge and talent with us in your draws.
    I’m in the US.

  • rachel wiener says:

These list are so incredibly helpful to weed through, as Ermano says, the sea of uninspired releases. I’m definitely going to check out Infleurno as I’m intrigued by the story and I love mythology. I also love anything incense forward so my pick would be Encens Copal. In US

  • I love the complexity of the picks this year! Though I have not tried most of them, I can appreciate the artistry implied in their descriptions. I did have the privilege of sampling Meo Fusciuni’s Buio, which I agree was intense journey over the course of a few hours – it kept changing between light/dark, and did have the sensation of closing in around you…Would love to try them ALL, but most intriguing to me personally are Pavlova, Tilia, Neroli Botanica and Kajal ÄICAN. Thank you for this generous draw, I live in the US.

  • I appreciate Ermano’s take on selecting a top ten fragrance. That it has “exceptional quality and flawless execution, but also the power to become a unique expressive medium”. I’ve had my eye on Kajal ÄICAN for awhile. The warm radiance of the perfume is so appealing in the cold of winter. MD, USA.

  • Encens Copal, a powdery-tart iris in the leading role, coated with sweetish-balsamic notes and subtle citrus nuances – a high-quality, elegant creation that I would love to win. Thank you for your top 10 Michelyn and Ermano, it makes me curious to try your selection.
    I come from Europe

  • Loving the end of year list. I am happy to see Violet Kew getting recognition and managed to purchase a bottle myself. Thank you for all the effort out forth in these polls. Jacques Fath Encens Copal seems most enchanting. I live in the US

  • Love that quote regarding Buio, embracing the darkness before we see the light. Had enough of the darkness lately. Shocking that I haven’t tested any of these favorites. I need to get a sample order going after reading about some of these gems. Peach Revenge, Estele, Pavlova and Tilia are the ones I was most excited about. I’d love to win Aican. Thanks for the chance. USA. Happy New Year!!

Who else but Moe Khalaf would come up with the idea of putting different positive affirmation cards and 2 extra samples , what a gorgeous presentation ÄICAN has. The “purified gold” beauty is not like any other Kajal fragrance , not like Dahab or Lamar , my two favorites , both in my possession. I’ve smelled the fragrance and to me it smells like Passion Fruit and Pineapple Gâteau with buttery shortcrust , crunchy praline and vibrant ripe fruits , delicious dessert and delicious fragrance lookalikes.
All above are fragrances from Ermano and Michelyn overview / Part 1 of 2024 I’d personally wear. I’ve smelled ÄICAN , the fragrance i’d like to win
Appreciate the hard work, and the giveaway campaign

  • Happy Holidays. So many I haven’t been able to try yet. Don’t know how you can possibly pick a top 10 but you did.

It’s a toss up between Kajal ÄICAN & Encens Copal. Since I recently got a Kajal discovery set for Christmas I’ll go with Encens Copal.

  • Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year Cafleurebon
I’m picky about fragrances I’m wearing, and i have to say I’m impressed by Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen choices , quite a lot I’ll gladly wear myself.
Masque Milano Alcove is a journey to the daughter of the Emperor of China with precious sandalwood, rose and vetiver.
Frassai Dormir al sol is boozy vanilla, saffron and sweet tobacco.
Badar Estelle rich are resinous gourmand.
Eau de Boujee Infleurno I own .
Pavlova is one of Parfums de Nikolai gourmand fragrances i was not expecting.
Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge is juicy and tipcy .
I was expecting Matière Premiere Encens Suave Extrait to be here but Michelyn Camen chose Santal Austral instead.
Kajal Äikan is pure gold fragrance radiating love according to Michelyn Camen. I like the fleshy fruits , woody accords , praline, patchouli and the dance between the uplifting appeal and Middle Eastern essence . Everything in Äikan i find rich and inviting. Kajal is one of my favorite brands, intricate fragrances with unique genetic core, always long lasting and with one of a kind bottles. Lamar I own, my favorite Kajal , and my choice today is Äikan.
    Thanks a bunch

From Best Fragrances of 2024 ,the overview of Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen the trends and fragrances I’m drawn to are
“Often, I am asked is there a difference between how people from different countries judge perfumes?”
    I very much believe so
“That’s what I look for in my top ten perfumes of 2024, exceptional quality and flawless execution, but also the power to become a unique expressive medium.”
    I’m with you
“Frassai Dormir al sol (Irina Burlakova): Slow perfumery for a slow living.”
First time hearing about Frassai, Dormir al sol pace i like
“Jacques Fath Encens Copal (Jean-Christophe Hérault):
really exceeded for its take on a classic note like incense, set vivid mediterranean colors.”
Interesting fragrance with incense, mastic and hazelnuts.
“Badar Parfums Estelle (Margaux LE PAIH-GUÉRIN): The first launch from Badar Parfums, my best discovery of 2024, Estelle, is an example of a gourmand done right.”
    Done right?
“Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova (Patricia de Nicolaï): Pavlova is an elegant and impressive olfactive dessert that elevates the gourmand category into haute Parfumerie.”
Never been to a patisserie of such level so I’m curious about Pavlova.
“Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge (Chris Maurice):”
    Old Hollywood glamor vibe fragrance
“MATIERE PREMIERE Santal Austral EXTRAIT(Aurelien Guichard)
Austral Extrait as it seamlessly brought together two dualities; silky white woods with the hero ingredient Black Cardamom Absolute from Nepal”
Woody , spicy and mysterious fragrance with spectacular performance.
Kajal Äikan the pure/ perfect gold fragrance sound fantastic, more than delicious, like a basket case with exotic fruits , lots of fun and positive emotions . No wonder it’s one of Michelyn Camen Top10 of the year.
Kajal Äikan I’d chose if I win
Thank you for the draw EU

  • Really loved your picks!! Aican definitely sparked my interest and I think it would work fantastic in Greek weather. Wishes for a happy new year to all of you, Manos from Greece EU

  • Some love pushing the boundaries fragrances, while others are more into compliments. I’m glad Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen focused on the unique expressive medium. Reading Part 2 of and all the mini reviews makes me want to try 6 asap, Frassai Dormir al sol, Eau de Boujee Infleurno, once again Badar Parfums Estelle and Nikolai Parfemeur Createur Pavlova, Peach’s Revenge and Matiere Premiere Santal Austral Extrait .
Dormir because of mimosa, saffron and boozy vanilla
Infleurno because of the myth of Persephone
Estelle because of mixture of French haute perfumery with the complexity of Arabic perfumery
Not just Pavlova but the whole Gourmandises collection because of elevated by Patricia de Nicolai to haute Parisian patisserie level not one but three gourmands.
Peach’s Revenge because of tipcy and juicy peach
Santal Austral Extrait because of my love for Vanilla Powder and how powerful it is
Äikan is elaborate juicy passion fruit, praline and pineapple fragrance I sampled, I’d love to win
    Thank you kindly, from EU

I want to try Tilia because it evokes the charm and serenity of linden trees in bloom, a scent that feels both nostalgic and timeless. The idea of a perfume inspired by linden flowers captures my imagination, as it promises a delicate blend of floral sweetness and soft, leafy freshness.
Tilia seems like it would be a comforting yet elegant fragrance—a reminder of quiet walks under linden trees, bathed in golden sunlight. I’m curious to experience how this perfume translates nature’s beauty into a wearable form, and winning this giveaway would allow me to embrace its poetic essence firsthand.

  • Thanks for sharing your 24′ Best . I’m intrigued by Masque Milano Alcove offering an olfactory journey to a fabled realm, Jacques Fath Encens Copal white copal incense, Badar Parfums Estelle of course , rhe whole Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur Gourmandises collection , Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge glamorous tipsy peach , Matiere Premiere Santal Austral Extrait silky white woods with black cardamom and last but not least the representing purified gold
Kajal Perfumes Äikan. The tropical fruits opening, the ginger at the heart and amber and tawny vanilla are shining near the drydown, absolutely spectacular.

  • Reading about Encens Copal, it feels like stepping into a sacred ritual at sunrise. The bright burst of citruses awakens my senses, while the smoky embrace of incense and resin grounds me in a profound stillness. I would select Encens Copal by Jacques Fath because I love incense, and meditative journeys…

Thanks for the nice writeups and lists Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen.
I’m not quite sure why 2024 has seen so many new fragrances – it is a trend that I am quite curious about. There are daring, pushing the boundaries fragrances as well as compliment getters of all kinds. I’m pleased by unique expressive medium Ermano was able to find, exactly what I was looking , still showing the proof of perfumery as true works of art.
I’m glad that Kajal Perfumes Äikan has made it to the lists. I really think that Kajal is a brand that with Moe Khalaf creativity and different talanted perfumers are always doing some interesting things with every single new release.
Some of Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen list i have had the pleasure of smelling already Frassai Dormir al sol, Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge, Matiere Premiere Santal Austral Extrait and Essential Parfums Neroli Botanica , two of which are in my possession Dormir al sol and Santal Austral Extrait. I’ll keep my eye on Masque Milano Alcove, Jacques Fath Encens Copal, Badar Parfums Estelle, Nikolai Parfemeur Createur Gourmandises line , especially Pavlova .
I would love to win Kajal Perfumes Äikan because of its tropical fruits opening, spicy and dramatic complexity and shining like a gold amber and vanilla.

  • As usual these list are filled with fragrances that I have been looking at all year and added to my wish list. I was able to grab a bottle of Peach’s Revenge and I can see well why it made Michelyn’s list for the year because it definitely made my favorite pickups for the year. It always amazes me just how many different scents their are out there that I have yet discovered and these list from you guys help to give me a guideline for sure.

I live in Dallas, TX and I would love to get a bottle of Kajal Aican. My birthday is on the 4th and I was planning on possibly getting it.

I enjoy reading these end-of-year lists to learn about houses and fragrances that maybe flew a bit under the radar. It is so much fun to discover fragrances via well-written articles. I have nothing against social media videos, but the written word is just so much more powerful. I would love to try Estelle from Badur, Infleurno from Eau de Boujee, and Lilith from Oz Parfum.
If I were to win the draw, I would choose Encens Copal.

  • A lovely list and have to say I haven’t tried many of these yet. Peache’s revenge, Infleurno and Tilia big loves. Dormir al Sol I definitely want to try soon and Jacques Fath’s Encens Copal sounds divine.
It was a busy year fragrance wise and it is nice to see some great releases highlighted here. Marit UK

  • I’m always surprised how little overlap there is from list to list. From Ermano’s, I’d love to try Masque Milano Alcove’s tribute to Mysore sandalwood, I’m intrigued by Jacques Fath Encens Copal’s mediterranean combination of citrus over incense, and Tayshaba Cache Myrrhe sounds like a terrific introduction to El Khalifa’s work. Both Ermano and Michelyn called my attention to Pia Long’s Inferno. Michelyn’s recommendation of Essential Parfums Neroli Botanica suggests it’s a best-in-class orange blossom and I’m intrigued by the way tropical fruit fits into Kajal Äican (and that bottle is an attention-grabber).

I’m in the USA. If I were to win, I’d choose Frassaï Dormir al Sol. Thanks and happy new year!

  • I deeply appreciate the passion and care you put into your perfume reviews. Each one reads like a beautifully written story, rich in imagery and detail, that captivates the reader. Your vivid descriptions truly bring the fragrance to life, making it easy to picture its essence even without having smelled it.

From the list I loved two. Marc-Antoine Barrois Tilia and Hiram Green Philtre. Both scents draw inspiration from natural elements and both feature prominent green and floral tones.

I would love to win of Encens Copal.

Of the listed fragrance I’ve sampled Le Jardin Retrouvé Violet Kew and Kajal Äican and found them both to be very nice. I’m in Ohio USA and I’m hoping to win Encens Copal as I’m looking to add more incense and iris to my collection.

  • I am torn between trying Frassai Dormir al Sol and Jacques Fath Encens Copal. One sounds like a warm summer escape, and the other feels like it’s bringing a fresh, modern twist to incense. If lucky, I’d choose Kajal ÄICAN.
    I live in USA.

  • The poetry in Meo Fusciuni’s buio description touches my soul. The progression from cade and frankincense to warm amber sounds like an olfactory poem itself. Would love to win the Encens Copal – another scent that seems to balance sacred and earthly elements.
If I were to win, Kajal’s Aican would be my choice as I have been looking for a fruity fragrance. I’m located in the USA.

  • The second 2024 exotic cocktail Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco made for us made of creative perfumes capable of not just catching compliments but to reflect a deep interplay of culture, innovation and evoking emotions . My favorite ingredients are Masque Milano Alcove, Frassai Dormir al sol, Badar Parfums Estelle Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova, Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge, MATIERE PREMIERE Santal Austral and Kajal Perfumes Äikan.

As someone deeply interested in natural perfumery, seeing Hiram Green’s work recognized by both editors is significant. The mention of that dark clove element alongside the classic spicy floral elements sounds incredible. Interested in the Kajal’s Aican.

  • I enjoyed reading Ermano’s top ten perfumes of 2024. The only one I’ve tried from the list is Philtre! I love mimosa, so I’m very intrigued by Frassai Dormir al Sol. Violet Kew sounds like a beautiful violet fragrance, as well.

I’ve only tried three fragrances from Michelyn’s list! Estelle sounds gorgeous, so that’s on my test list. I absolutely love jasmine, so Red Burning Night is also a must-try for me. I agree that Comme Un Gant is soothing, and I can see why it would be a great bedtime perfume. Linden blossom is a favorite of mine, so I’ve been meaning to try Tilia since its release.

I would love the opportunity to win a bottle of Frassai Dormir al Sol. I am located in the USA.

Thank you to Ermano and Michelyn for sharing, and thank you to the perfumers for their generous giveaways.

  • I have always been fascinated by incense-based perfumes, so Jacques Fath Encens Copal and Meo Fusciuni BUIO are must-tries for me.They seem like such innovative takes on a classic theme. The fragrance that spikes my interest the most is kajal by aican, i’d love to win it. From USA

  • I love these lists. I’ve sampled some of the fragrances she mentions and loved them as well.Matiere’s innovation with their exclusive Black Cardamom Absolute from Nepal is fascinating. The way they’ve paired it with sandalwood in Santal Austral shows such thoughtful composition. Would love to win the Kajal Äican.

What strikes me most about both lists is the beautiful balance between commercial expertise and artistic vision. From Mathilde Laurent’s work at Cartier to independent creators like Hiram Green, it shows how perfumery can thrive at any scale when there’s genuine creativity involved. Would love to win the Kajal Äican. Thanks

  • The description of myrrh glowing like a ‘cabochon chatoyant gemstone’ with those crimson rose reflections and peach-chypre notes sounds absolutely magical in Myrrhe. Would love to win the Kajal Äican because the concept resonates deeply with me, especially how they’ve interpreted purified gold through layers of fragrance. I am very fascinated by the list.
    Good job Ermano and Michelyn

  • In Part 2 i wonder should I start with Ermano Picco passion for art , craftsmanship and beauty, the unique expressive medium he found, the precious rose and sandalwood in Masque Milano Alcove, the sweet tobacco and mimosa in Frassai Dormir al sol, the plum in Estelle, the Pavlova elegant dessert like smell, Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge amaretto MATIERE PREMIERE Santal Austral EXTRAIT calming effects, silky woods and black cardamom or the golden named Äikan. Such a special, bubbly and delicious scent i can feel it. Exotic fruits like pineapple and passion fruit, treats like praline.. I came to realization I need a tropical voyage in January , and I need ÄICAN.

  • I just love these lists. I have heard so many great things about Kajal Aican, which would be my choice should I win

  • Round 2 : Michelyn Camen (New York) vs Ermano Picco (Milan) once again, trends + fragrances
Ermano Picco demanded quality, originality and craftsmanship all through the the year.
Variety is a factor in both contributors picks. After reading the article I can say i like Michelyn picks more. Out of Ermano Picco Top 10 I like
Masque Milano Alcove – i like good tea and good sandalwood fragrances
Frassai Dormir al sol – floral and boozy vanilla with tobacco
Out of Michelyn Camen Top 10/13 I like
Badar Parfums Estelle – rich gourmand with plum
Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova – haute perfumery level gourmand
Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge – old Hollywood glamor juicy peach
Matière Premiere Santal Austral Extrait – sexy and ready for evening out sandalwood
Kajal Perfumes Äikan – thanks to Michelyn Camen review i started thinking about all of the warm and tropical moments I’d like to experience right now in late December. I’m now curious about Äikan and the way it evolves. The blend of delicious fruits, ginger , amber and vanilla , day and night, innocence and temptation is to die for.I own 2 Kajal Perfumes already, Lamar and Almaz and I can say the happy burst of juicy tropical fruits and cheerfulness is so common for the brand.
My easy pick is 100ml of Kajal Perfumes Äikan.
    Thank you, and fingers crossed

  • I have no doubts about not the theory but the fact that there’s a difference between how people from different countries judge perfumes.
Ermano Picco do have a point about the amount of derivative uninspired launches and on contrary the original, telling stories and evoking emotions new releases. Two of his favorite I bought in 2024 Frassai Dormir al sol and Jacques Fath Encens Copal.
Badar Parfums Estelle, Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova, Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge, Matiere Premiere Santal Austral Extrait are fragrances I need to try, Äikan I sampled in September. I can’t say I smell a lot of ginger in Äikan like Michelyn but the gold brilliance shines bright . Big fanof Dahab and I’m glad Äikan is a different kind of passion fruit fragrance. It’s also It’s interesting how no matter who the perfumer is , Kajal never disappoint its fans.Kevin Mathys won the Art and Olfaction Awards for Kajal IV giveaway , Äikan is fantastic made by EPS Fragrances team and Lamar Noir by Patrick Müller.
    I’d prefer Kajal Äikan
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

Wow! What an impressive roundup of the year once again, artistry and craftsmanship finding its way is the tsunami of uninspiring launches, people from different countries judging perfumes differently, beautiful presentations too .
From Masque Milano I only know Russian Tea , Alcove smells like love to Ermano. All other fragrances and brands from Ermano Picco list i don’t know. From Michelyn Camen list I know Kajal, Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur (New York Intense) and Essential Parfums. Fragrances I’ll sample are Badar Parfums Estelle, Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova, Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge, Matiere Premiere Santal Austral Extrait and Kajal Perfumes Äikan. Tropical fruits, ginger, spices and vanilla are favorites of mine, let alone how Michelyn Camen said Äikan gold brilliance shines in the drydown – wonderful fragrance.
Kajal Perfumes i strongly associate with my favorite Lamar , and if I happen to be the winner I’d like to experience Äikan.
Thank you very much Kajal Perfumes, Frassai and Jacques Fath, and special thanks to Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco for the hard work . Looking forward to Part 3 of best of the year list

  • I’ve started a list of fragrances to sample based on your top recommendations. So far this year, I’ve only tried a few mentioned here, like Tilia—such an exquisite fragrance! I’m thrilled to own a bottle. Next on my must-try list are Frassai, Dormer al Sol, and Eau de Bougies Infleurno; both sound incredible. I already adore Frassai and have heard great things about Boujee Bougies even before reading this post. If I had to choose from the giveaway options, it would definitely be Kajal ÄICAN. Wishing you all the best and a joyful New Year ahead! Greetings from NY.

If a perfumer can both catch compliments and please crowds , yet the fragrances can also tell stories and evoke emotions is easy to say the unique expressive medium Ermano Picco spoke about was achieved. Bottle of Jacques Fath Encens Copal i acquired a month ago, out of all other fragrances part of Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco lists I’m enthusiastic about Badar Parfums Estelle, Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova, Voyage Imaginaires Comme Un Gant Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge, MATIERE PREMIERE Santal Austral and Kajal Äikan.
I like all the different layers, tropical fruity tawny vanilla and ginger and In light of Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco lists and reviews I have no doubts Kajal Äikan is spectacular , i’ll be happy to win a bottle.
    Many thanks, EU

  • Fragrances that speak to the heart: it seems Philtre is agreed-upon, and top of my to-try list, but would also love to try Tilia and the new Frassai-they have done many scents I love, including my top-five-ever love Tiesenddu. Happy New Year!

  • Can’t say about Italy, but absolutely people in US and in Germany are judging perfumes differently.
Daring and mysterious fragrances with a small pinch of pleasing the crowds characteristics is what both Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco are mostly looking for.
I know most of the brand in Part 2 but not the fragrance Michelyn and Ermano enjoyed the most. I’ll gladly wear Masque Milano Alcove Frassai Dormir al sol, Eau de Boujee Infleurno, Tayshaba Cache Myrrhe ,Badar Parfums Estelle, Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Pavlova, Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge, MATIERE PREMIERE Santal Austral EXTRAIT Essential Parfums Neroli Botanica and Kajal Äikan.
Based on what I learned in Part 1 and 2 I think Äikan is high end , refined and alluring tropical fragrance with some spicy and golden exoticism , as usual with heavy metal caps, and the whole presentation is top notch.
Big fan of Kajal Homme I and II, and my choice is clear Äikan.
    Thanks to all involved

  • In the ever-evolving world of perfumery, 2024 has proven to be an interesting year where, among a plethora of derivative uninspired launches, creativity and artistry found their way through emerging talents pushing boundaries, and prominent perfumers still outdoing themselves with crafting fragrances as a proof perfumery can still be a true works of art. These perfumes do more than catch compliments and please crowds; they tell stories, evoke emotions, and reflect a deep interplay of culture, innovation, and craftsmanship.
    – Ermano Picco

He’s so speaking like a true adept, and definitely not like a salesman. Despite some mediocre releases and overcrowded marker the year way good. I’m curious about Alcove, Estelle, Pavlova Peach’s Revenge, Santal Austral EXTRAIT and absolutely want to win Äikan . It has been a pleasure learning about the idea of making the fragrance based on optimism and positive energy.
I’m impressed how Moe Khalaf is non-stop trying new things, and ways to get better in every sense of the way , the affirmation cards in the box I’d read one by one.
I’m a fan of beautiful things, opulent aura, passion fruit and pineapple fragrances , Moe Khalaf creativity
    Much obliged
