Top 10 Most Complimented Perfumes That Fly Under the Radar 2022 + Part 2 Giveaway

Most Complimented perfumes

We return with part 2 of our top ten most complimented perfumes and once again this list includes fragrances from designer, luxury, niche and artisan brands that we think fly under the radar. It is co-curated and in no particular order. These fragrances don’t require you to overspray but rest assured people come up to us and ask what is that perfume that you are wearing because you smell so great (see part 1 here).

Xerjoff Nio (2009): If you have never smelt vintage Guerlain Imperiale cologne then Xerjoff Nio, from 2009 is the next best thing (at least for me).

It reminds me of the song “Classic” from the MKTO Band “Thinking I was born in the wrong time, One of a kind, living in a world gone plastic, Baby you’re so classic,”

Nio is absolutely one of my favorites because it is neither masculine nor feminine and has a quality difficult to find in a citrus fragrance: it lasts, even in the heat. The bergamot in Nio is exquisite and curls around jasmine and spices until the drydown of vetiver and woods. I own many Xerjoff fragrances and this is one of my most complimented perfumes from their brand (along with Richwood and Lira Casamorati)-Notes: Tunisian neroli, Calabrian bergamotjasminecardamom, nutmeg, pink pepper, green leaves, cedargaiac wood, Haitian vetiver, Indian patchouliamber.-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Tom Ford Costa Azzurra Parfum (Yann Vasnier) 2021: Originally in the Private Blend offerings, Costa Azzura Parfum is now in the signature collection, and has been reworked by superstar perfumer Yann Vasnier.  It is a true aquatic fragrance, in the sense it has seaweed, facets of salt spray and driftwood. There are citrus and fougere qualities as well as a hint of amber. I prefer it to the original. I know Yann since 2009 and he always brings his signature polish to fragrances. Here is a quote from our young perfumer seriesI remember when big designer brands were launching daring fragrances. I miss these days; I hope they will come back. The future is bright although these wonderful times have past; I still am the most excited just after the briefing, when I start my ideas, bold, strong, hopeful, before days and months and sometimes years of polishing all the rough edges away…”-Michelyn and Steven

Rogue Perfumery Derviche II (Manuel Cross) 2021: Expect the unexpected from Manuel Cross and this would take Michelyn’s top spot. Derviche II is the 2021 follow up to 2018 Derviche, (an amber laden ode to Emeraude by Coty). Derviche II is one of my most complimented perfumes and uses many of the same materials but in totally different proportions. It is an amberwoody incense masterpiece laden with dried fruit and to my nose a fine quality oud hums in the background. The bright sparkling citrus introduction adds freshness and keeps it from being overwhelming or cloyingly sweet- Editor Karl Topham featured it in a standalone review and Steven had it in his top ten 2021 list of best fragrances. When three perfume aficionados agree it among one of their most complimented perfumes, that truly speaks volumes. Notes: Citrus, Mediterranean Herbs, IncenseAgar Wood, Sugared Fruits, AmberVanillaMusk.-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Ramon Monegal Atractone (Ramone Monegal) 2022: Aptly named, this new fragrance from Ramon Monegal attracts compliments, either on its own or layered with other perfumes. There is a sultry quality to this gorgeous musky floral. Red hot at the top, the jasmine is carnal and indolic,  the sweetness of kiss is hinted at with the red lipstick vibe from raspberry but wait there is an ocean breeze moving in until the “my skin but better dry down” of a mélange of musk. In the words of Sr. Editor Nicoleta Tomsa, Imagine a flower that dreamt it was human.

A note from the perfumer “… In my years as a perfumer, I’ve learnt that scents exist to identify and communicate values. This olfactory language is communicated unconsciously through the olfactory image the scent evokes. When I wear Attractone Musk it’s the law of attraction, desire and a connection with life that is communicated via myself.” -Ramon Monegal/ Notes: Top: Ozonic, Aldehydes, Baies rose, Cumin, Cashmeran; Heart: Jasmine, Lily of the valley, Lilac, Cyclamen; Base: Sandalwood, Musk cocktail, Amber, Raspberry-Michelyn and Steven

Parfums de Marly Darley (Francis Deleamont) 2009: With popular Parfums de Marly fragrances like Delina, Herod, and Layton, Darley is often overlooked and was one of the Houses first offerings 13 years ago!!  I find Darley to lean more masculine with realistic smelling lavender and mint, accents of cinnamon and mint. The vibrant opening is complemented by the sweet sensation of cinnamon and tonka bean. The power of this fragrance will get you noticed, and the complexity will keep you coming back for more. Top Notes: Mint, Lemon; Heart Notes, Lavender, Cinnamon; Base Notes: Patchouli, Amber-Steven and Michelyn

  • As usual, great introductions by Michelyn and great descriptions by Stephen. These all sound great, if I won I would choose Darley. NV, USA.

  • I like what Steven and Michelyn had to say about Derviche. I hope it’s not too feminine for my taste. Anyway, I’d like to try it. If I win, I chose Derviche. I’m in the USA. Thank you for the opportunity!

  • LATONYA GIPSON-BOWMAN says:

That review was something that we in the fragrance community want ….compliments and the one I would love to win is Atracton by Roman Monegal it sounds so beautiful and I have never tried this house

  • Greg Graham Sr says:

Thank you for that great video and list! I can’t get Imagine a flower that dreamt it was human…Wow! Thank Steven and Cafleurebon and also Michelyn. Stay safe

  • My choice I would like to win is the 50 ml bottle of Monegal Atractone. I thought that Michelyn’s written reviews were really detailed and beautiful. I thought that Steven’s video reviews were really professionally made and they are something really special to watch. I live in Poland, EU. I follow on Instagram. My Insta name: insztagramekphoto

  • I keep reading about derviche II and if I don’t win it here I am going to buy it at luckycent.
I would like to win the monegal ATRACTONE and rogue perfumery dervicheII
    you guys are amazing

  • shanonabston says:

Should I be the lucky winner, Darley would be my choice. Michelyn’s statement of “the complexity will keep you coming back for more” combined with my soft spot for lavender puts this as my top pic. Now Steven’s description of Nio did have me wanting it at first with the thought of the natural bergamote accord. But for now I’ll tip my hat to the lavender. I live in AL, USA.

  • I would Like to win bottle of Rogue Perfumery Derviche II. I love how detailed this written review is and the energy of the video. I Like that perfumes are unisex. I live in the EU.

  • katyakotovskaya says:

Agar wood obsession makes the choice so easy for me! I would LOVE to win a bottle of Rogue Perfumery Derviche II (Manuel Cross)! Both Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews were amazing, I got not only a detailed description, but a glimpse of the soul of each fragrance. Europe

  • Great reviews as usual. I also love Darley and Nio. I haven’t had the chance to smell anything by Rogue so I’m looking forward to the possibility of the giveaway.

  • Both reviews were very insightful and straight to the point. I would love to win “Derviche II” by Rogue Perfumery and I live in Portugal, EU.
    Thank you!

  • I have sampled all three house’s, but not any of the three offerings. Great review based on listed notes and what smell conjures certain feelings, by Michelyn and Stevens review. I enjoy all three house’s, but really love Ramon Monegal’s creations that I have sampled thus far. My choice would be Ramon Monegal’s Atractone. I am a follower of Cafleurebon on Instagram. And as always, thank you for the draw! I’m in the US.

  • Liked reading the background info on perfumes in Michelyn’s introductions, and then Steven’s more practical details and comparisons with other similar perfumes. Both the perfumes in this draw are beautiful, but after listening to Steven and reading Michelyn’s intro, I am inclined to choose Ramon Monegal Atractone, were I to win this draw. Thanks for the draw and reviews. I am a Redolessence subscriber and enjoy watching Steven’s down to earth reviews. From USA.

  • You guys knock it out of the park with your reviews. Steven always does an excellent job showing off the bottle and telling you what he doesn’t like as well as what he loves about a fragrance, which everyone really appreciates. Michlyn’s reviews are very good. I was introduced to Arcadia by Hiram Green and that has been my favorite pick up of the year so far. If she says a fragrance is her favorite, trust her that it is some quality stuff. Thanks to all the houses that provide a bottle for this giveaway. That’s very generous!
    United States of America
I would choose Rogue Perfumery Derviche II

  • I would like to win Ramon Monegal Atractone…imagine a flower that dreamt it was human! Thank you so much, your work is amazing! I live in Greece, EU.

  • I really enjoyed Steven’s explanation of each fragrance and what made it stand out. Michelyn’s written article expanded on and emphasized on what was said in the video well. If I won, I’d like to receive Atractone Musk by Ramon Monegal, I live in the UK.

  • Hi, I very much enjoy and appreciate both content (article from Michelyn and video from Steven) and my interest is really towards the Ramon Monegal concoction. Although if ever I get selected for this giveaway, I would prefer to win the Darley bottle due to the lavander and classic nature of the fragrance.
Cheers from Los Angeles, CA USA

  • Thank you Michelyn for introducing these fragrances and Steven wonderful job on YouTube. My choice would be Ramon Monegal Atractone. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • PhillySniff143 says:

Nio? Under the radar? Overlooking that, both reviews were excellent as usual. I love Michelyns description of Nio, and that she also enjoys Richwood and Lira, my other faves from the house along with Naxos. Stevens description of the musk in Atractone is a sticking point for me. I would choose Derviche 2 . I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania…. following @sobermindedmusic

  • I think Michelyn is right about Nio’s harkening to Imperiale Cologne, especially in the first half with that floral neroli. Haven’t smelled Costa Azzura parfum though! Definitely hope that designers will release more daring scents, but the times ain’t lookin’ so good. I can see why Darley would be so popular too, with its similarity to Kurkdjian’s creation for JPG – less that strong vanilla, and perhaps more suited to more masculine noses? Imo, the easiest to like from the entire PdM catalogue. Darley would be my choice. Also will need to sample Derviche II. Sounds just about right for this time of year with those dried fruits, incense and amber. Really resonate with Manuel as an individual creator. Canada.

  • I missed this summer without having xerjoff nio, but once westart next summer it will me on my early purchases

  • chad.steven.smith@gmail.com says:

Awesome content as always, I can appreciate how detailed the note breakdowns are in both Michelyn and Steven’s reviews. Nio is one I’ve had on my radar and I’ll have to look at adding the others as well. Thank you both Steven and Michelyn for sharing your passion for these masterpieces! Would love to add any of these 3 exquisite fragrances to my small collection. Follower from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, USA

  • After going through both parts of the written and video reviews, I figure I can’t be surprised at these gems being compliment getters. Right now I’m most intrigued by, and would dearly love to try Darley by Parfums de Marly. GA, USA

  • I like the fragrances from Ramon Monegal as they cover a wide range of olfactive groups – from leather to fruits and aldehydes. I would love to win Atractone Musk as it has some lovely notes that I am sure I will enjoy.
I am in the EU. Thank you!

  • I really enjoyed the detail in the video reviews, it’s refreshing to hear how well thought out the descriptions were, in the written as well. I’m now interested in the Darley scent! If I were to win I would choose Darley, in Canada 🙂

  • great writeup and introductions for the fragrances. i love that it also listed the perfumer and year of introductions as well. The notes or accords is a superb finishing touch. love it!

Been a fan of parfums de marly so my choice will be darley! from OR, USA.

  • It is always a difficult decision when tasked with choosing just one. Both of you made each stand out in its own right, I have familiarity with PDM and enjoy their DNA immensely. I believe I will try for the Ramon Monegal Atractone since I am still unfamiliar with their fragrances. Thank you for the draw. USA

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Nicoleta’s review inspired me to choose Ramon Monegal, a superb indolic floral perfume, carnal as I like it.
    I am from EU

  • Michelyn, your introductions went straight to the heart of each and they all sound like must-tries. I particularly loved your description of the jasmine and spice in Nio. Steven, your video really conveyed your respect for each fragrance, and I always enjoy trying to guess which bottle you are going to pull out next.

If I win, I would love to try Derviche II. Thank you for the give away, writing from the EU.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

I love how Steven talks about the performance of perfumes. This is quite helpful to me as my skin tends to eat perfume. I love the way Michelyn includes quotes from the perfumers. I’d love to win the PDM. I live in Indiana.

  • A great piece by Steven and Michelyn always so informative. I am intrigued by Derviche the fact that it isn’t too sweet and cloying is great because I am not a fan of overly sweet fragrances. I follow @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram. Thanks a million from the UK

  • Red hot at the top, the jasmine is carnal and indolic, the sweetness of kiss is hinted at with the red lipstick vibe from raspberry but wait there is an ocean breeze moving in until the “my skin but better dry down” of a mélange of musk. In the words of Sr. Editor Nicoleta Tomsa, Imagine a flower that dreamt it was human. A beautiful description by Steven, Nicoleta and Michelyn. I am intrigued by Ramon Monegal Actractone if I am lucky to win. Thanks a lot from the United Kingdom

  • I’ve heard only really great things about Rogue brand but never had the chance to test any of it. Derviche 2 sounds great and i would love to win a bottle, especially if it takes the top spot for Mychelin. Great review from Steven as always, thanks for the draw, i’m in the EU.

  • I thought Michelyn’s three descriptions were very thorough and made each choice inviting. From the video I learned Nio can be over-applied. US

  • I just loved the reviews because I haven’t tried any of these perfumes yet and I do love compliment getters! These will not fly under my radar!
I’d choose Atractone Musk by Ramon Monegal because of one sentence: “Imagine a flower that dreamt it was human.”

    Hugs from Croatia, EU

  • Great writing and video compliments galore on these.
Please enter me for Ramon Monegal Atractone and Rogue Perfunery Derviche
    USA

  • It would be a dream to win a bottle of Rogue Perfumery Derviche II. Both Michelyn’s and Steven’s reviews were very compelling, making me wanting more, more, more.

    I live in Portugal, EU.

  • I think that the article by Michelyn is so well written that it evokes the reader to literally smell the scents based on the vivid descriptions. Steven does have a special way with his very detailed descriptions that makes you want to go out and purchase the scents. I love the House of Ramon Monegal! His scents are so different and sexy! I already purchased Flemenco and Kiss My Name. Would love to win the Attractone to add to my collection. Thank you for the opportunity!

  • Bryant Worley says:

Michelyn really laid the verbal wood, as it were, with the way she described the fragrances. Very nice descriptions that makes them all spuns so appealing. BRAVA!!! Steven’s reviews were good but subdued, in my opinion, as they lacked the usual fiery enthusiasm.

I wish I could choose 2, but since I can only choose one, I have to choose Rogue Perfumery Derviche II, because this statement makes it sound more interesting than Darley: “It is an amber, woody incense masterpiece laden with dried fruit and to my nose a fine quality oud hums in the background.”

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

Some good stuff. If I have to choose, I’ll go with Parfums de Marly Darley followed close by Derviche II and Atractone. Greetings from Riga, Latvia.

  • I really like Rogue Perfumery, because of the quality of the perfumes. It doesn’t surprise me that Michelyn stated that Derviche II is one of her most complimented perfumes…really interesting notes and usual display of skills from Manny Cross.
Also Xerjoff Neo is very interesting, expecially because of the bergamot natural accord well underlined by Steven.
I would like to win Rogue Perfumery Derviche II.
I follow you on Instagram (name riccal65).

  • I liked the Xerjoff fragrances mentioned, and do enjoy a few. As a fan of Ramon Monegal, I’d love to experience Atractone Musk. Steven mentioned its beautiful bottle and I agree. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

  • Great choices, great perfumes. I always enjoy Steven’s reviews and like Michelyn writing.I would love to have the opportunity to win Ramon Monegal Atractone. It sounds amazing and I have been wanting to try that brand!
Thanks for this very cool opportunity. Hello from Poland, Gdansk!

  • Wow, Steven described them all so beautifully, that I feel like I’d like to sample them all! Some deeper and sweeter and more fit for winters, others musky or floral and more universal, and they all sound amazing.
I loved reading also Michelyn’s impressions about the same perfumes.
But what especially caught my eye was Nicoleta’s quote about Atractone being “a flower who dreamed it was human”, and that’s what made me wish for it. So I would love to win that one, should I be lucky.
    I live in the EU.

  • Thank you Michelyn and Steven, I have to agree Derviche II is quite stunning. I have a small sample I have been nursing for some time now. This is the only one from the list I’ve actually sampled! I would love to win Darly since I am in Canada. Thank you!

  • Michelyn says Ramon Monegal Atractone is a gorgeous floral musky and Steven repeats that sentiment that Ramon Monegal Atractone has notes like jasmine. Steven is also impressed with the bottle and presentation. I am in US.

  • Compliments again ? I like when people dig the way I’m dressed, and/or the way I smell, but I’d never actively look for praises, if it happens- good, if not I’m good again. In no particular order:
-Xerjoff Nio, fresh and classy . Naxos and La Capitale are my favorite Xerjoff fragrances , and most seems to like the way I’m smell while wearing them
-Tom Ford Costa Azzurra Parfum i don’t know, but I do know the perfumer and I like well made marine fragrances
    – Rogue Perfumery Derviche II , sounds really good , smooth fragrance with sugared fruits and candies, and long lasting incense .
-Ramon Monegal Atractone Musk , provocative, and almost bohemian.
    -Parfums de Marly Darley
    “Darley is often overlooked”
I think you are right, I was not aware of the fragrance, and I’m a fan of Oajan, and Delina Exclusive, both are staples for me.
Vibrant scent with mint, cinnamon and tonka bean, impressive- Parfums de Marly Darley would be great
    Thanks for the draw
    USA

  • I love warm, ambery scents so Steven’s description of Derviche II really left me wanting to try that one especially! I also like how Michelyn described the freshness of citrus notes to keep it from being overly sweet. Derviche II is the one I’d want to win. I’m in MN, USA. I follow you on instragram @ra7chel and am a Redolessence subscriber as well!

  • I first heard about Rogue Perfumery through CaFleureBon so it’s not surprising that Michelyn likes Derviche II so much. I appreciate Steven’s discussion of the performance of these fragrances on the skin. If I were chosen, I would love to have a bottle of Monegal’s Atractone. I have a soft spot for musky florals. I’m in MD, USA.

  • I think compliments are something that every fragrance lover seeks in fragrances, at least most of the times.
I loved this selection because they are guaranteed on the good comments of how they smell. I think Nio is one of my most complimented fragrances of all times, so it is amazing.
Both, Mychelyn and Steven did a fantastic job here and they explain fragrances like few people can. Love them
Would love to win Ramon Monegal fragrance if it is possible.
    USA here.

  • Thanks Michelyn and Steven for this second chapter about the most complimented perfumes that fly under the radar…( even they are from best selling brands as Tom Ford). Agree 100% with Michelyn about Nio from Xerjoff and its performance for citrus fragrance. I used a lot this summer and it is, as Steven says, the most natural smelling bergamot fragrance! The quote from the great Yann Vasnier is so good (it was valid in 2014 and would be even more today) and so true about the boring fragrances in the designer perfumery. The fuity take on sweet amber Mr. Cross has done in Derviche II is a piece of art to make a statement, a loud and complimentary one as Steven says. Ramon Monegal flies under the radar and has a beautiful collection. Atractone is his last creation and a great and long lasting musky floral. I live in Spain, EU. I am a Instagram. My Insta name:sonbahia. If I win, I chose Derviche II.

  • I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a Pastry Chef, but basically all of the compliments I had lately are for gourmand fragrances. I like getting compliments, but it’s my N1 priority. Like Michelyn said in Part 1 , it’s a bonus.
    ☆ Xerjoff Nio
I knew Xerjoff, but like Michelyn with Nio , I had similar experience with not only the best Casamorati, the best Xerjoff , and one of the best gourmands ever – Italica , the awesome Toffee Almond Cake (traditional recipe) , famous Italian cake smell. Quality difficult to find in a citrus fragrance for Nio , the same applies to Italica, quality difficult to find in a gourmand.
☆ Tom Ford Costa Azzurra Parfum , the fresher fragrances from the house i never tried
☆ Rogue Perfumery sample set is now in my possession , and I’m impressed. Derviche II remins me of Crème Anglaise Cake , with Macerated in Bourbon Berries, Sone Fruits, and Powdered Sugar . Woody yes , but to my nose there is not much of a incense in Derviche II
☆ The only Ramon Monegal fragrance i know is Bravo. Atractone is sweet, fruity and floral
    ☆ Parfums de Marly Darley
Personally I know Parfums de Marly for Herod first , Makes me feel like I’m THE king of the castle. It’s a toss up for me between Herod and Oajan, for my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance.
Darley is a elegant , formal fragrance I’ll be happy to wear in the rare occasion, when I have to wear a suit.
Darley is the fragrance i’d like to win
Appreciate Michelyn and Steven reviews, and the giveaway campaign

  • Michelyn and Steven!! ❤️❤️❤️ Love these expert lists!!! They truly help when deciding how to spend one’s budget. I always save Michelyn’s wisdom! ❤️ Steven’s detailed reviews are a Must-See! ❤️ Thank you for this wonderful opportunity! Of course, I must must select my fav! Manny Cross: if I were a lucky winner, I’d go with Derviche II (who wouldn’t want a scent that is an ode to Emèraude!)!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

  • Thanks for the recommendations Michelyn and Steven!

These fragrances have definitely gone under the radar for me as I have heard of these, but haven’t tried any of them! I feel like I’m missing out and will have to get some samples to try them soon!

I’m so happy to see I share my joy with Manuel’s creations with Michelyn. His innovative and simply groundbreaking work is the best thing since I’ve started my fragrance journey and I look forward to every new release.

Steven’s videos are a staple in my video feeds. Everytime a new video is released I know I’ll get some amazing recommendations, explained in a way that even a novice like me can have a great understanding what to expect.

If I were lucky enoug to win, I would pick Derviche II. I’ve become a bit of a fan of Manuel’s work and would love add Derviche II to my collection with Bon Monsieur and Mousse Illuminee!

I follow CaFleureBonOfficial on my @ronaldjapenga Instagram handle.

    Greetings from the UK!

  • Both Steven and Michelyn were completely right in their reviews of Darley. When the name of the house is dropped there are at least 10 fragrances that I think of before I think of this one but then I reminded of just how many compliments I received when I had a sample. That lavender and cinnamon in are AMAZING. Now Derviche is one that I have never heard of. I see Michelyn mention that it is an amber, woody incense masterpiece and that what I like. Steven mentions that there are fruity notes as well and that it is strong. I would love to have smell of it.

I would like to win Darley if I am choosen. I live in Dallas, Tx

  • No doubt i acknowledge the compliments I receive, but i get way compliments for the way I’m dressed, than for the fragrance I’m wearing. People are more likely to compliment me, and ask about my fragrance if I’m dressed up . Not all, but most of the compliments I received , were when I was wearing a suit, and very few when i was wearing something more casual.
Xerjoff Nio I had in the past, fresh, green and long lasting. My favorite Xerjoff is Lira , it gets peoples attention , Michelyn gets the same reactions i see
Tom Ford Costa Azzurra Parfum I’ll try
Rogue Perfumery Vetifleur and Rostracto i tried, really nice fragrances. is smoother and more refined, with a bit temperamental character. In Derviche II I like way the sweetness, woods and incense are complimenting each other.
Attractone Musk sounds different , floral , marine and woody fragrance
When I think Parfums de Marly , I always think Pegasus . Sure PdM do have all kinds of quality fragrances like Oajan , Herod , Layton , Greenley , the Exclusif stars , Haltane, still I do not get how regular Pegasus is getting so little attention. As much as I like the other I’ve mentioned , my 125ml bottle of Pegasus I cherish most. Smells fantastic , lasts over 10 hours on skin , and projects beyond strong – fills up a room. Compliments galore too.
Being in tailoring business, Darley I’d like to wear when working with clients at the shop , and also going out clubbing.
    My pick would be Darley
Thanks to Michelyn, Steven and all the brands.

  • I really like that Steven chose to add a lesser known PDM to this list, it has piqued my interest in a fragrance I may not have otherwise considered. I also enjoyed Michelyn’s description of Rogue Perfumery Derviche II, even indicating it would take the top spot in this list. I’d like to win Rogue Perfumery Derviche II, and I live in the US. I follow Cafleurbon on IG (username wrm_01)

  • The “jasmine is carnal and indolic, the sweetness of kiss is hinted at with the red lipstick vibe from raspberry”, totally captivated me. I’d love to win and smell those artworks in my skin. Thank you! I’m from Spain

Thanks for the great review Steven and Michelyn.

I enjoyed this second part of your “Compliment Getter” series. I also enjoyed reading the writeups that Michelyn and Nicoleta had to say.

It’s hard to do a full series of compliment getters, because a lot of them share similarities (I suppose that there are a lot of things common to fragrances that appeal to a large number of people).

I’m a huge fan of the work that Manuel Cross is doing and would love to win a bottle of Derviche II. I absolutely love how this fragrance merges a lovely amberiness with freshness, to make this such a wondereful fragrance.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • I did enjoy the reviews by Michelyn and Steven, found some new fragrances of interest that I want to try, though for many of these I can’t believe fall under the category of perfumes that fly under the radar.
My choice would be Ramon Monegal.

My choice I would like to win is the 50 ml bottle of Monegal Atractone. I thought that Michelyn’s written reviews were really detailed and beautiful. I thought that Steven’s video reviews were really professionally made and they are something really special to watch

  • Excellent review by Steven as he gives amazing descriptions of fragrances. Michelyns give us readers a great into to these works of arts.
I like Parfums death Marley Darley. Thanks for the giveaway. CA, USA.

  • FragranceIsMe says:

I thoroughly enjoyed both Steven’s video and Michelyn’s written review of these fragrances….a comprehensive presentation of all fragrances.
Both my beautiful wife and I share our passion of fragrances with each other. Fragrances that we add to our collection are based upon the olfactive message each conveys to us. We love our fragrances because of their appeal to each of us. However, with that being said, it is always an added bonus when compliments from others are received. If picked, our choice of fragrance is Ramon Monegal’s Atractone. USA

  • Honestly I wear what I like , niche , indie , designer, and I’m not flattered , or bothered by others opinions.
    1. Nio by Xerjoff
I’m surprised, love Nio , and went through 3 bottles during the years, but I don’t believe it’s a compliment getter.
    2. Costa Azzurra Parfum by Tom Ford , I too prefer it to the original, similar fragrances, but not the same. In the original version I get mastic , not present in the new , reworked version.
    3. Derviche II by Rogue Perfumery
Derviche II is fruity, effervescent , with ambery base , and pinch of incense.
Depending on the situation, both Derviche and Derviche II could be considered compliment getters. Original Derviche and Tabac Vert i own
    4. Atractone Musk by Ramon Monegal . I sampled it, and unfortunately it’s way musky-er , and animalic than I expected. In the other hand all Flamenco , Next to Me , Olé , Faisa,Soul of Oud and Bravo are fragrances that will get you noticed
    5. Darley by Parfums de Marly
Michelyn took the words out of my mouth, Darley is complex , well composed dressed up times fragrance , with slightly sweet undertones. I also agree with Steven about not the same, but in the same ballpark Reflection Man comparison.
    I’d like to win Darley
    All profiles i already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

I loved Michelyn’s written and Steven’s video review of compliment getters that fly under the radar. Xerjoff Nio is a classic and versatile. Tom Ford Costa Azzura is a classic masculine gem I really enjoy. Rogue Perfumery Derviche II sounds like my kind if fragrance with the resinous and oud undertones and has been on my wishlist for quite some time. Ramone Monegal Atractone sounds interesting with it’s musky and floral components. Steven really caught my interest with Parfums de Marley Darley with it’s lavender core accented with Mint, Cinnamon, Tonka, and Amber I am very eager to try it. I am following @cafleurebonoffical at @michaelprincefragrance If I win I would choose Parfums de Marley Darley. I am from the USA.

  • Thank you, Steven and Michelyn for the giveaway. After seeing Steven’s video, I ordered myself samples of Derviche and Darley. Liked Darley better; a perfect bedtime scent because of its lavender note. I would very much like to win a bottle of PDM Darley.

  • I love this list! Any of Parfums de Marly fragrances get me compliments all the time. I’ve never smelled Darley but I’d love to have that one be my choice if I am chosen as a winner.

    I live in the USA.

    Greetings everyone
Ms Camen and Mr Gavrielatos surprised me a lot today , 2/5 of your flying under the radar fragrances pt2 i own – the long lasting and exclusive Xerjoff Nio and Tom Ford Costa Azzurra Parfum .
Rogue Perfumery and Ramon Monegal are two niche brands i don’t know. From Parfums de Marly i do know Layton and Herod.
I’m interested in Rogue Perfumery Derviche II because of the fruity take on amber, and incense description.
    Thank you

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’d love to win Parfums de Marly “Darley”: it seems to be one which I’d like. I appreciate Michelyn’s information on these fragrances. When Steven described “Darley” it caused me to think that I would prefer that one the most because I enjoy the fragrances which he compared it to. I live in the U.S.A. I follow Cafleurebon on Instagram (@regismonkton).

  • Thanks for continuing this list of under-the-radar gems.

Michelyn’s comments on Azzurra Parfum caught my attention. I’ve tried a few Tom Ford fragrances, and none of them were to my tastes, but they also weren’t trying to smell in any way natural. The seaweed, salt spray, and driftwood in Azzura Parfum sounds totally different and very intriguing. I’d like to try a naturalistic marine fragrance.

Also, Derviche II is the only one on this list I’ve tried, and it’s one of a kind. I need to spend more time with my sample and wear it more often. It initially read as more sweet than I’d normally wear, but there’s also lots going on with the incense and wood.

Also, I like how Stephen commented on when these different fragrances are at their best, like spraying Azzurra Parfum right before you go out.

I’m in the USA and I’d love to win the Parfums de Marly Darley. I follow @cafleurebonoffical on Instagram.

  • The best fragrances in the second part of Most Complimented Perfumes are Xerjoff Nio , Rogue Perfumery Derviche II and Parfums de Marly Darley.
I have not smelled the two Michelyn is praising, vintage Guerlain Imperiale cologne , and Richwood too , but Nio is just awesome. If compliments are needed , i believe my favorite Xerjoff fragrances Cruz del Sur II , Golden Dallah , and my old love Lira do work better.
Derviche II i find impressive, since I have the sample set. The fragrance grabs you , and don’t want to let go , macerated fruits , cherry brandy , spices, and marzipan. Wood , incense and spice also show up in the background . The unexpected part of Steven and Michelyn co-review is the lack of even a word of something boozy?!? Maybe it’s just the way Derviche II smells to me …
Love both of my Delina bottles , the regular one and Exclusif , I also bought Byerley as a gift for dad’s birthday, but I never knew Darley is a thing . Talking about flying under the radar elaborate fragrance.
    My choice is Derviche II
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • Great reviews as always. I really enjoyed Michelyn’s description of Nio which I have to try. The bergamot that “curls around jasmine and spices” sounds very interesting. And Steven’s description of Darley had me curious of the fresh lavender offering from PDM. If I were to win I would choose Darley. Thanks!

  • Thank you for the introduction Michelyn, I didn’t know Darley was one of the original offerings of PDM. As usual Steve’s video review is on point – I have to try Xerjoff Nio since I’ve been putting it off. Rogue Perfumery Derviche II is calling to me and I would be super stoked to win it. I’m in USA

Thank you Michelyn and Steven. The reviews especially Steven’s were excellent giving us a glimpse into each of these. I am familiar with Nio only. I also like the fact that they are not well known. I am interested in trying Darley because I am a fan of lavender and mint. Thank you.

  • Fantastic review and video! What I thought of Michelyn’s review is that I love how she describes how Derviche 2 compares to the original and how she perceives the ingredients and the way they shine. As a big fan of the original Derviche I am glad to hear that the second version stands up! What I thought of Steven’s video is that I love how he describes not only all the major notes in each fragrance from begging to end paying attention to progression but how he also takes the time to note exactly how and when he likes to wear them. I appreciate learning from him which fragrances can be sprayed liberally and which will need to be refreshed during the day. Seeing how we are now bac to being able to test fragrances in store in person I appreciate this information because it’s something I can’t test when in the store.

I live in the US. I would be happy to win any of the three fragrances but my first choice would be Darley with Actractone as my second choice and Derviche II as my third. I am following your new Instagram page @cafleruebonoffical and my Insta name is momo.liu.121.

  • I LOOOVE this addicting fragrance. I do need a backup bottle. Please!!
I can’t wait to try more from this brand. There are no stores I can find to test these. I bought the Atractone musk watching a reading reviews.
It took a couple of wears to really appreciate this sent. And I DO
It is amazing. The scent, the sillage and projection
    Oh man is this beautiful
