At the gateway to the Moroccan Sahara is Zagora, a place of improbable contrasts. Whipped by sandstorms and stinging aridity, the Draa Valley city is hedged by an expanse of sand dunes, yet lush with date palms and citrus. Even as the Sirocco blows, Zagora’s air carries the syrup sweetness of orange blossom and ripe peach through its dusty streets in hypnotic incantation. Likewise The Different Company’s White Zagora, which aerates typically saturated flower notes and makes them inviting even in the height of summer. Created by Symrise master perfumer Emilie Coppermann as part of the brand’s 2013 L’Esprit Cologne collection along with Kashan Rose and South Bay, White Zagora is an easygoing yet vivacious tonic of summery tree blossoms mixed with citrus that feels sparkly, carefree and soothing in sticky heat.

The Different Company White Zagora is a scent souffle; its tree blooms and fruit are kept light and buoyant from start to finish. With the first spray there’s an avalanche of peach, light but textural and I can almost feel its fuzzy skin on my wrist, hoisted by clean, mineral musk. Right on its heels is a deliciously bitter squeeze of citron that sparks everything up and gives White Zagora its lively bounce. Everything remains peachy keen for a while as I wait for the orange blossom to arrive. But up next is whiff of osmanthus instead, lightened from its characteristic leather-dried apricot aroma to near transparency so that what remains is an airy tanginess. Something green and just slightly herbal enters the mix – reminding me of ferns – and I’m thinking there might be some hedione© in here.

The heart, however, is all fluffy white flowers; peach blossom, foamy neroli, orange blossom, all suffused with bergamot so that they nearly glisten. The representation of orange blossom here is downy rather than honeyed; likewise the peach blossom, which has the feel of pale pink muslin. I am searching for the listed tuberose here; usually, this flower is a fleshy, lactonic bombshell that announces itself roundly. But its presence in The Different Company White Zagora is subtle. Eventually, I can just detect its creaminess in the opacity of the mid-section, which keeps the fragrance from disappearing into ether.

Today, with the heat and humidity at its inevitable August pitch, The Different Company White Zagora works a treat. It’s airy but substantial, floral and fruity without overt girlishness, sophisticated rather than bridal. If you’ve been searching for that easy-to-wear but elegant hot weather fragrance, wander into the oasis and stay awhile.

Notes: Neroli, citron, bergamot, orange blossom, peach blossom, tuberose, osmanthus, white musk, amber.

Intersting frutty floral parfume! Because I love touberose and when I see a touberose I want it!

  • The fact that this beautiful perfume is airy but substantial, floral and fruity without overt girlishness really sparks my interest. Tokyo Bloom would probably be my favorite from this house. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • I’m testing a fragrance today called Zagara, now I know where the name comes from. I like that this fragrance evolves, so much more interesting than a linear fragrance. I like that it is sophisticated and not too girly. It’s 105 where I live today, sparkling, carefree and soothings sounds good. My favorite of this line (I haven’t smelled a lot) is I Miss Violet. Thanks for the generous giveaway! USA.

  • Very well done here, Lauryn!
I had the pleasure of trying many fragrances by The Different Company and my favorite so far is Tokyo Bloom. The quality that this fragrance house delivers is out of this world.
White Zagora is so intriguing to me with its tree blooms, the peach and the mineral musk. It is surely something very different from what I’ve tried before and I would love to get this on my collection.\

I’m interested in trying The Different Company White Zagora for multiple reasons. I can enjoy fragrances which include neroli with orange blossom. I like tuberose, and I like to hear that it’s prominent in this fragrance. I like to hear that it’s floral and fruity without overt girlishness, and also that it’s an easy-to-wear but elegant hot weather fragrance. I haven’t tried anything yet from The Different Company but I’d certainly like to. I live in the U.S.A.

  • I own a few the different company frags and really enjoy it. I would be interested trying White Zagora and it sounds really summery.
    Greetings from US

The combination of summery tree blossoms mixed with citrus sounds divine – my favourite note accords that I can’t tire of. USA

  • White Zagora sounds delightful with its orange peachy vibe. I liked the reference to ferns, which makes it sound earthy to me. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff. Mich USA

Summery tree blossoms mixed with citrus that feels sparkly, soothing, and carefree in sticky heat… sounds really nice for those really hot days in the summertime. I live in Maryland USA.

  • This sounds like a lovely perfume.
Fruit tree blossoms and citrus-what could be better?
I would love to experience ‘white flowers; all suffused with bergamot so that they nearly glisten’!
My favorite from The Different Company is Tokyo Bloom.
    Thank you for the drawing.

  • I enjoy tree blossoms a lot and they usually need something to keep them going; the tuberose for a creamy effect sounds like a good pair here. I enjoy a lot of TDC perfumes, but my favorite is Sel de vetiver.
Thanks, I am in the EU.

I’ve not been lucky enough to have tried a fragrance from Different Company but this one has me excited. A bright summer scent to holdover the heat and august memories as it transitions into fall. I’m also just a sucker for bergamot. In the USA.

  • I love orange blossom/neroli scents, that have also a kick – White Zagora seems to be just that, with the addition of citruses and tuberose.
I love Nuit Magnetique from what I’ve sampled.
Thank you for the review and the draw, from EU.

Another amazing review by Lauryn! This is what sparked my interest the most; The Different Company White Zagora is a scent souffle; its tree blooms and fruit are kept light and buoyant from start to finish.

  • Nice review Lauryn! An imaginated oasis in a flask by Ms. Coppermann is an sparkly mix of tree blossoms mixed with citrus. Everyones image of an oasis is a green lush with date palms and citrus surrounded by endless sand dunes and this scent brings the sweet narcotic orange blossom with citrus ( neroli, citron, bergamot) but in a light and airy way. Peachy, citrusy, tangy and even the tuberose here is tamed. In the middle of august many of our cities feel like a desert so the Different Company White Zagora is an elegant, easy to wear fragrance to endure this torrid season. My mother had a small vial of Sienne D’Orange by Ms.Coppermann too and I loved the cardamom and orange dance . I live in Spain, EU.

  • Oh, you had me at orange blossom. One of my favorite notes, especially for the summer
This sounds wonderful, abs unlike anything I currently have. I do not have a favorite from this house, but I bet it would be this scent. I’m in the US.

Thank you for the review of The Different Company White Zagora, Lauryn! This fragrance holds all notes that I love and that fuzzy peach sounds like a dream.

  • I’m intrigued by Lauryn’s description of the floral and fruity notes in this scent that typically present as heady and viscous, but in White Zagora manage to be light, airy, and diaphanous. This sounds lovely for summer, with a wide array of decadent notes that never overwhelm. I am located in New York, in the US!

  • White Zagora sounds beautiful, sophisticated yet fluffy and cozy. I’d love to win a bottle! My favorite from the Different Company is Oud Shamash – one of the few ouds I wear and love. I’m in MN, USA.

  • What a lovely summery floral fragrance! White Zagora seems to have some of the desert scent DNA with the emphasis on amber and musk. The fruitiness of the citrus and the tumult of white florals (orange and peach blossom and honeyed osmanthus) speak more towards a Saharan scent than something from the SW USA. Favorite The Different Company perfume is Bois d’Iris. I’m in the US

  • What an exquisite article! Lauryn’s description of this elegant but easy to wear hot weather floral, which opens with a blast of peachiness, continuing with apricotty-osmanthus and ending as a beautiful white floral fiesta, with glistening, sparkling bergamot on top. What a joy in white!

The notes sound enchanting. I really feel the desert and the citrus trees in this review. Can’t wait to try it. Usa

  • Karen Ruano says:

What intrigued about her review is how she describes the fragrance. It literally took me to sitting under a orange tree that has blossoms on it, drinking a citrus drink. I live in NJ and my favorite fragrance from this brand is Limón de Cordoza

  • White Zagora sounds, as Lauryn describes it, perfect for this late summer heat. I love peach and osmanthus notes, so I’d love to smell this one! I love Bois d’Iris and Rose Poivre from The Different Company: both restrained but beautiful.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I like the comparison of the scent with the place called Zagora, the place of improbable contrasts and the lightness of WZ has a great appeal to me, not a heavy fragrance lover.
From what I’ve sampled, so far, from the house, I loved Sublime Balkiss.
    I’m in EU.

  • Well written review by Lauryn of Different Company White Zagora. What interests me about White Zagora is its notes of tree blooms, peach and mineral musk creating a sparkling but soothing scent.
I have yet to try any fragrance from the brand but would love to try White Zagora.
Thanks for the opportunity to win. Greetings and gratefulness from the USA!

  • The Different Company has great fragrances. Two of my favorites are Oud Shamash and Oud for Love. I live in the USA. Great review of White Zagora it sounds lovely with osmanthys and orange blossom

  • Lauryn has convinced me that this lovely perfume could lighten the mood of a sticky summer day while still being sophisticated! I absolutely love orange blossom, but agree that it sometimes comes very “saturated” and a bit overwhelming. I have never tried any fragrances from The Different Company, but this sounds like a perfect one! Thank you for this generous draw. I live in NH, USA.

  • I really want to try Dance of the Dawn as the article here caught my attention. This one does too. The heat here is unrelenting and a “downy” orange blossom with peach and green notes does sound like utter perfection. I am always open to all iterations of the gorgeous orange blossom. In US.

  • Interesting that White Zagora manages to take relatively heavy and sweet notes—ripe peach, citron, orange blossom, neroli, creamy tuberose—and make them feel breezy. Emilie Coppermann clearly paid a lot of attention to texture and weight when composing this perfume. Even though it’s still darn hot out, I know the end of the summer is approaching, so now is the time to wear easy-going hot weather fragrances like this while we still can.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any The Different Company perfumes. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Lauryn’s mention of peach and osmanthus in her White Zagora review really made me prick up my ears, and I love so many The Different Company scents but haven’t tried this.

I live in the US and as always appreciate your generous draw opportunities.

  • What I liked in this perfume is that it’s an easygoing yet vivacious tonic of summery tree blossoms mixed with citrus that feels sparkly, carefree and soothing in sticky heat. It’s sophisticated, airy but substantial, floral and fruity without over girlishness.

I loved Lauryn’s review of The Different Company Zagora. I’ve been hearing so many great things from The Different Company. Lauryn goes into perfect detail about fruity floral with a very light and airy quality to it making it more elegant and perfect for the summer heat. My favorite fragrance from the Different Company is Sel de Vetiver . I am from the USA.

  • Thanks for the review, this seems like an ideal summer fragance. From the review it really intrigues me the mix of orange blossom and peachy osmanthus, the whole with a mineral background. I would to try this one! Im in the EU

Thanks for the nice review Lauryn.

The packaging of this fragrance delights me. I love that the notes are etched into the bottle.

My favourite part of this fragrance writeup is the tranquility in the notes and transitions. That is not easy to achieve with neroli and osmanthus and tuberose. Certainly a credit to the perfumers skill.

I’ve not had a chance to sample this company.

    Cheers from WI, USA
