The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun review

It’s a challenging task to find a grown-up coconut perfume that is not overly sweet but I adore coconut in any shape or form it may come in. For me The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun brings to mind a perfect vacation in the tropics. It is lush, it is salty, and it is memorable.

This is my first encounter with The 7 Virtues brand but it will certainly not be my last. It seems as if they were creating this particular flirtatious blend for a true coconut perfume lover whoadores to bask in its milky warmth. The coconut water splashes you immediately upon the first spritz, infused with zesty and crisp citruses, sweet and enveloping, like a sip of a tropical cocktail with one of those cute colorful umbrellas. A beautiful sea saltiness is woven throughout as if you soaked the creamy frangipani petals in the ocean and wore it as a necklace around your neck. Native to Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, South America, and Mexico, frangipani truly conveys the story of the tropical paradises, with a multi-faceted aroma of creamy fruits, candy, and even bananas sometimes. This composition is nutty and almost savory but with a peachy, whipped cream banana pudding taste which hits you at the end.

The structure comes down to two main players here, coconut and frangipani. I love this little flower which always tends to bring a relaxed beachy vibe to any fragrance. It is delicate yet powerful in bringing up memories of sweet escapes to the sea, endless plunges into the warm Caribbean waters, and delicious pina coladas. If you want to immerse in the feeling of a lush tropical escape, look no further; The7 Virtues Coconut Sun is it. The soft alluring aroma of this creamy white flower comes to life as soon as the fragrance touches the skin; warmed up by the muskiness of the body, it creates an incredible layer of understated sensuality. What I love the most about The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun is the crisp saltiness washing the coconut and the floral heart with a refreshing wave, which results in a type of umami taste.

The dry down is a base of an upcycled rose and balmy vanilla, cocooning you like the rays of a tropical sunset, leaving a soft glow behind. I fell in love with this fragrance: all-white flowers, blazing warm air, and the salty ocean breeze. I can see an ongoing love affair with this solar perfume for years to come simply because when you find a great escape scent, you let it whisk you away.  As far as it can get you and soak up every drop of it.

Notes: Coconut water, frangipani, fresh citrus, crisp sea salt, jasmine, upcycled rose, vanilla.

The bottle was kindly gifted to me by the brand but opinions are always my own.

I have heard so many fantastic things about this fragrance.
I love the idea of the creamy white flower top being washed by the crisp saltiness in the coconut and the floral heart. Sounds like a beautiful summer perfume I would love to wear.

I’m a palm trees beach kinda of guy so I do want to immerse in the feeling of a lush tropical escape fragrance wise.

No, I never tried 7 Virtues perfume. This would be my 1st.

  • What appealed to me is the “a beautiful sea saltiness is woven throughout” idea. I have not tried any 7 Virtues perfume. US

  • I also have not had any experience with The 7 Virtues but I know a bit about coconut and one of my all-time favorite fragrances is coconut heavy. Coconut Sun sounds very much in the same vein with this favorite of mine. Thank you for the giveaway. I’m in USA

  • I haven’t tried it but the notes sound beautiful. I Find so many coconut scents just aren’t coconutty enough – I hope this one puts it front and center. In the USA.

  • For years I stayed far away from coconut fragrances. Aside from the immediate association with suntan lotions, the few I had tried in my youth were either cloyingly sweet or too gourmand for my liking. Last year, however, I decided to give the note another chance and discovered the beauty it can offer to bright spring/summer scents when used with the right florals and citrus components. Heck, I even discovered one dangerously dark and near-brooding coconut fragrance. Without rambling further, I’ll just say that coconut in fragrance has become something that I really want to further explore in the coming summer months and Olya’s description of this offering has me interested. Frangipani is a floral note that I already love due to the property Olya mentioned above: it’s ability to transport you to a lush tropical paradise. I imagine that the combination of frangipani and coconut together would only serve to intensfy this power and would whisk the wearer away to an island with just a couple sprays. I would love to have the chance to find out. I live in VA, USA.

  • This sounds so mesmerizing! I love creamy coconut perfumes. Never tried any 7 virtues perfume but am so in love with the sound of this one! From Ct USA

  • This is probably one of the first tropical coconut fragrances that I’ve seen, and I’m not quite sure why I haven’t looked sooner. I really like the idea of a oceanic / blue with floral notes. From TX, USA.

  • Wow just wow what a great review. Makes me wanna bask, swim and eat this fragrance.

Sounds perfect for my year around weather. I’ll definitely have to check out the house and fragrance at my local Sephora. Considering the price point the house won’t break you’re bank.

    Thanks from the USA

  • I developed a coconut craving recently but the coconut-inflected perfumes I’ve tried since then wink at coconut without putting it front and center. On the flip side, a lot of cheap and cheerful coconut themed bath and body products go a little too cloying or industrial. I’d like to try a coconut perfume that “cocoons you like the rays of a tropical sunset” for a change. I also appreciate the social enterprise aspect of 7 Virtues, I like their vanilla woods fragrance too. I am in the US, thank you for the draw!

I just got done reading the article and I have to say that did a really good job of getting me in the headspace of this fragrance. My experience with coconut fragrances aren’t vast but the couple i have got my nose on I REALLY like. a couple of those would be virgin island water, Light blue sun, and soleil blanc. Something about coconut really gets me in the vacation spirit and gives me a feeling of comfort. Id love to try this fragrance, Goodluck to everyone and as always thank you for the opportunity.

  • Just reading this review makes me feel relaxed! What a great combo of notes – a calming vacation in a bottle. I enjoyed learning about Barb in Dragon’s Den, being Canadian I am quite familiar with the show! I have not tried this fragrance.
Thank you for the draw, from Canada.

  • I have yet to try 7 Virtues perfume, but this review and looking further into the company has opened my eyes to what makes them special. When it comes to Coconut Sun specifically, the scent of frangipani drifting over the coconut base with a note of salty ocean breeze sounds exactly like the vacation I’d love to take but haven’t been able to yet. Best wishes from the US!

  • From Olya’s review, The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun seems to be a perfect summer scent to get away. Coconut, salt and florals make it a refreshing, summer/spring perfume. No experience with the brand but it is nice to know they donate to charitable causes. Thanks for the draw and review. From continental USA.

I love the idea that the dry down “cocoon[s] you like the rays of a tropical sunset” & I’ve been looking for a fragrance w/ coconut & salt for this summer. I haven’t tried anything by 7 Virtues before. In the US.

  • Coconut is definitely a summer note for me and probably most people Combined with the tropical white flowers, sea salt and vanilla, it sounds like vacation in a bottle. I fell in love with frangipani on a trip to Hawaii and the scent always takes me back there. I have The 7 Virtues Santal Vanille is probably my favorite of the ones I’ve tried. MD, USA.

I live in DC, but I lived in Indonesia for 5 years and I miss the coconuts from our trees, drinking fresh ones, and just the smell of that whole place. I imagine this fragrance will pull me back to those beautiful memories every time I smell it, and I’d really like to be able to close my eyes and imagine I’m back there.

  • Based on what Olga said, this sounds like something I would love to smell on my lady. We can pretend we are on a tropical vacation. New Jersey, USA

  • Beautiful review by Olya of The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun lustrous realistic coconut, sea saltiness and creamy soft white floral fragrance. Sounds like a sexy gourmand scent which is rare during the Summer time to spray on and be swept off into a paradise fantasy island. I would love to get my nose on it. Thanks for the giveaway!!! Greetings from, USA.

  • I’m a big fan of aquatic fragrances, especially if they have a pronounced salty note. I’m in the USA.

  • Fragrancebliss says:

I am in the sunny state called Florida! I truly loved this article and how Olya vividly expressed the scent of the notes and painted the picture of the scene as well. I am a nature and beach lover and therefore can’t wait to try this fragrance! I already know that I will love it because of the coconut, crisp salt, frangipani. All of this appeals to me.

  • Great review by Olya! To be honest, I have not tried any The 7 Virtues Fragrance yet, but after this review I will definately look for them.
I think that Coconut Sun is the perfect fragrance for summer or going to the beach, I love coconut so much, and seeing the add of vanilla and fresh citrus is just amazing. I would love to try it
    USA here.

  • It’s finally starting to feel like summer around here (apparently we skipped Spring altogether) so a tropical vacation fragrance feels appropriate. Frangipani and salt spray are always a nice pairing and I like that Coconut Sun plays up the refreshing aspects of coconut water, versus a heavier, creamier smell. This one will be a fun summer spray.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any 7 Virtues perfumes.

  • With summer approaching here in Southern California, Olya’s review of this as a relaxed beachy vibe sounds perfect. Also that maybe it’s a bit more grown up and not just overly sweet appeals to me too. Have not tried a 7 Virtues perfume yet. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • The combination of citrus, salty, jasmine, rose and vanilla with coconut water sounds absolutely amazing! I would love love love to try this one. I’ve enjoyed Santal Vanille by & Virtues. 🙂
    In the U.S.

  • I love The 7 Virtues and am so pleased that the fragrance house is growing and that they continue to put out scents that are lovely and sustainably produced. What appeals to me about the Coconut Sun is how it seems like vacation in a bottle. Olya’s review/description of the dry down notes and how they are reminiscent of the tropical sunset with the warm salty air sounds heavenl.
    Thank you, from Canada!

  • foreverscents says:

Coconut Sun sounds so balmy and sensual. I love coconut and frangipani in fragrances. The sea salt note that weaves through the fragrance definitely makes me think of a day at the shore. I think fragrances like this are so necessary when the world is losing its mind. I haven’t tried fragrances from The 7 Virtues.

  • Thanks for sharing the article!
I particularly enjoyed Olya’s review, where she described the Coconut Sun fragrance as natural and realistic. It was so evocative that it transported me to scenes from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Being far away from coconuts and frangipani’s warm climate I find the idea of bringing vacation in a bottle home very appealing.
Although I haven’t tried The 7 Virtues before, I’m hoping to get lucky with this new drop.
Sending love to the fragrance from DE, USA.

Thanks for the great review, Olya!

I’ve been following this company for a while, ever since the Dragon’s Den and the writeups on CFB.

What I find most fascinating about this scent, is the salty umami quality of this scent, especially as most coconut scents tend to lean towards sun tan lotion or sweet. My favorite memory is drinking fresh green coconut water by the beachside.

I’m excited for this and also the social mission of the brand.

    Cheers from WI, USA

What appeals to me abouy Olya’s review of The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun is how we get the fresh flowers, salty ozonic feel, sweet creamy vanilla and coconut. This sounds like the perfect warm weather fragrance I would love to try. I am from the USA.

  • sephrenia300 says:

Very nice review Olya! What appeals to me about Olya’s review of The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun is learning it’s a grown-up coconut perfume that is not overly sweet. I do not like sweet perfumes and I particularly don’t like gourmands, but coconut is one of my favorite food scents and I have always wanted a non-sweet non-artificial smelling fragrance highlighting and featuring coconut . A flirtatious lush and salty fragrance that blends coconut with creamy frangipani sounds like the perfect way to do a coconut fragrance to me. I have not tried a The 7 Virtues perfume yet. I live in the US.
