THAMEEN Chords Review (Nathalie Lorson) 2024+ Handel’s Sarabande Giveaway

“Its mind-blowing to witness how Nathalie Lorson takes my tribute to Handel with her own twist focusing on Sarabande, in which she deconstructs the movement and applies each musical element to form her own olfactory chords, It’s similar to how Stanley Kubrick rearranged Handel’s Sarabande with an orchestration for his iconic film Barry Lyndon. I love this postmodern approach by adding a touch of yourself to another person’s creation to form a chain of belonging and timelessness.” Christopher Chong via Instagram

Cologne is mainly composed of light and volatile citrus notes in lower concentration than Eau de Parfum. For Thameen Chords not only did I rely on a higher concentration of 25 % of raw materials than in traditional cologne, I also opted for extreme contrasting notes, with a vivid opening that evolves into a base of dark woods which are powerful bit above all, very long lasting with intoxicating sillage”Nathalie Lorson via Instagram

There’s a lot Hype about this one. I’m a big fan of honey and tobacco. Thank Steven and Cafleurebon and Twisted Lily for your generosity. Stay safe

  • I love fragrances that take the traditional cologne structure and modernize / expand on it. My SOTD is one of these: Nishane’s totally underrated Safran Colognise. It sounds as if Chords, like Safran Colognise, is a fairly heavy scent. But it has a very different note breakdown. Steven makes Chords sound like a fascinating variation of the tobacco + honey combination, with a honey note that leans animalic. I’m also a fan of that kind of honey…I even liked Serge Lutens’s divisive Miel du Bois! Finally, though I haven’t tried any Thameen fragrances, I am a huge fan of a lot of the fragrances that Amouage put out when Christopher Chong was in charge there. All of which is to say that it sounds like I really need to get my nose on Chords. I’m in Oklahoma, USA.

Thames is truly one of the best niche houses out there. I own Royal Sapphire and Peregrina but I have not yet tried any of the fragrances in the Britologne collection. I knew this was coming but had no idea it would be a honey/tobacco mix which is one of my favorite combinations in fragrances. Love the aesthetic of the bottles on this collection! Interesting that this one also has a higher concentration than the others and this one will be very popular because leather/tobacco/honey mixes tend to do very well (Naxos). I don’t mind it’s on the heavy side, tobacco is probably the reason and yet again Red Tobacco is one of my favorite fragrances. Cheers from USA.

  • I prefer dark scents over citrus and aquatic scents. Steven mentioned the honey being a more raw animalic honey piqued my interest, the tobacco raised it even more. Would love to win this one…

  • PerfumesforLife says:

Thameen sparked my interest a while back with carved oud. I am glad they are putting out tobacco-honey creation. It’s about time. The Tobacco/honey combo has been around for a while but I would love to see what Thameen did with this popular combo. The problem of this combo is that it could lead to overly gourmandish and I am glad they added some animalics here. I would love to try it.

  • I’m a fan of Nathalie Lorson’s creativity and would love to try Chords. Steven mentioned that it has an almost animalic side, which I like in fragrances. Thanks for another wonderful review and draw. MI USA

If it is somewhat close to Frapin’s 1270, i will absolutely love this! I want to participate in this giveaway!

  • Sherin Thomas says:

I have been a huge fan of Thameen Fragrances in general. I have carved oud which is my favorite from the line. Cant wait to try this out lovely frosted bottle so good …From PA,USA

I like how Christopher Chong together with Nathalie Lorson made Chords , honoring British traditions , and also paying homage to Handel and Stanley Kubrick.
In my Pastry Chef mind after watching Steven’s take on Chords, and reading the two introductions I imagined making Orange Blossom Honey Cake and serving it to Christopher Chong and Natalie Lorson in the antrakt of their favorite Handel spectacle , while the two of them sitting on a leather sofa and someone is smoking Cuban cigar near by , the mixture is how I imagined Chords.
Elegant honey , tobacco and leather , confirmed by Steven himself.
Appreciate the review, Christopher Chong and Natalie Lorson introductions , and the giveaway campaign

    P.P.
Maybe because I’m Classically trained Pastry Chef, and I do work with honey every single day , but if I don’t count :
    ☆ Some honeydew honey
☆ The very rare , and expensive Asian , mostly Nepalese hallucinogenic honey
☆ If the nectar comes from plants in the aster family, for example goldenrod and small daisy-like flowers that grow in clusters. The taste is great through.
Otherwise I don’t find the smell of honey even slightly animalic.

  • donovanreich says:

I’m most intrigued about the juxtaposition from opening to dry down, hearing that it has fleeting freshness as it’s rather “gregarious” as Steven put it. I live in Arizona, U.S.A.

  • Steven described this as a drag opening that quickly becomes dark with the honey and leather that is very bold! A very robust cold weather fragrance. This sounds very appealing to wear next weather! The combination sounds very unique too..

  • Johnmc5000 says:

Orange, tobacco and honey notes sound like a great combination.
I have only smelled a couple of Thameen scents.
Can’t wait to smell this one and explore the house.

Quite a surprise to learn about a fragrance inspired by Christopher Chong fondness for opera and postmodern approach to Handel . I also enjoyed Natalie Lorson own experience creating Chords , with all the contrasting notes and 25% concentration.
Thameen London i usually relate to Royalties , and maybe because I’m a tailor, the way they dress.
I like the fresh opening in Chords , the honey and leather, and I’m also curious about the tobacco accord. Well polished I’d say elegant creation by Natalie Lorson .I’m expecting craftsmanship , and a classy aroma. The balance between the sweet, leather and floral aspects i find stylish.
My favorite Thameen fragrance is Carved Oud
Thank you Steven , Christopher Chong, Natalie Lorson and Twisted Lily

  • That raw honey, tobacco combo has piqued my interest a great deal! I wonder if it’s like the tobacco honey from Guerlain?

  • Bubeto_GG says:

My younger cousin bought Thameen sample set, and the extra samples from Twisted Lily, and after trying all on skin I’ll admit I should’ve smelled them way earlier.
Thanks to Steven i know Chores is a stunning creation , quite complex too. Starts citrusy, then the tobacco, honey and tobacco kicks in , regal aroma , Natalie Lorson made a symbol of elegance suited for the British aristocracy.
Even though I’m a huge Amouage fan , I’m more than happy to know that Christopher Chong is honoring Thameen heritage while developing the brand , and not trying to turn Thameen into something like Amouage II .
Royal Sapphire i now own , my favorite Thameen London fragrance
Cheers with Remy Martin XO Gold limited edition, and thank you for the opportunity

I’ve heard of Thameen but haven’t really explored this house. Leather, Tobacco and Honey with a fresh opening sounds amazing as described by Steven. Glad it’s not a suede leather. Also love the fact that it’s strong & long lasting.

According to Steven this fragrance: “Is not afraid to make its presence known”.

  • I just found Redolessence’s channel on You Tube while searching for reviews of Emir Factory Edition Rich Santal. His review is informative and engaging, so I subscribed. Well, Chords sounds so interesting. As a newbie, I’m intrigued about tobacco and leather notes.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

Steven does such a great job in his reviews. He describes all aspects of the perfume. This one sounds so bright and fresh. I’d love to win and live in Indiana.

  • I became interested when the reviewer spoke of the contrasting aspects of the notes and the almost animalic side. US

  • jlsteckley says:

The description above and Steven’s review reiterate why this is so hyped. It sounds like an awesome fragrance!

  • WillRhodes says:

Honeyed tobacco and leather I always find to be so wearable on me and I just love that combination of notes, and I appreciate that Chords can still teeter with a slight animalic presence with its notes. And to hear Steven say this is a new expression of leather excited me, especially when he says what a statement it is and that it has a heaviness to it. Which I love…boldness. Also, that longevity of 12+ hours-awesome! Thameen is such an excellent line.

  • Joseph w. Gibbs says:

I enjoy all of the Thameen products immensely, but I’m drawn to the subtle aromas of Chords for some reason I can’t fathom as of yet. I suppose I’ll have to continue use of your product. I’m a lucky and blessed man.

  • I love my Thameen fragrances and this one looks like it would not disappoint. Chords: Honey leather tobacco with a brightness. Thameen fragrances have wonderful longevity. OKC OK

  • extremetraveler says:

“Dark, leathery, spicy-tobacco, honey-sweet… with an animalic side.”

I hate to confine myself to a signature scent, but… that description could basically be my funeral eulogy. I’m really excited to try this, Steven always gives a great descriptive overview… I would love to be daring and wear this unique fragrance in spring and summer here.

  • Chords fresh opening seems like the perfect contrast to the honey and leather. Although I am not personally familiar with this house I have heard good things about it. This continues in that thread. In maryland.

  • madamepeace says:

Oh my gosh! Honey and tobacco fragrances are such a hit with me! Would love to see how the performance does and I love this concept of being inspired by someone else’s art to create your own. From OR, USA.

  • Omg Thameen how I love this brand. Never tried Chord and is super interested. Ylng Ylang Honey what else can one dream about?! Please and Thank you

  • NewSmells says:

Learned about THAMEEN from prior cafleurebon reviews and have kept my eye on them since. The rawness of the honey that Steven mentions is definitely an interest for me. Longevity is a must for cold weather fragrances, and the general dry-down of Chords sound incredible.

Citrus, honey, leather, tobacco, long-lasting, and Nathalie Lorson. I’m not really sure what you could add to the aforementioned to make it any better…Oh yes, a phenomenal review by Steven… Perfect 🙂

  • I love a Cologne with oomph!! Ala Atelier Cologne and some others! I’ve been so curious about these new Thameens and really was surprised how much I loved the first releases! All of them gorgeous.
In California, thank you for the opportunity.

  • Thank you Steve for the review of Chords and Twisted Lilly for the kind giveaway. Tobacco and honey sound like a winning combo to me. Steve’s description of a dark, fresh, sweet, bold fragrance sounds quite intriguing. I’ve only tried Regent Leather from Thameen and was quite impressed and would love to try out Chords. I’m in TX USA

  • petergigov says:

One of the reasons why Chords is so appealing to me , is because of Christopher Chong coming to Thameen, and changing the brand with his creative genius.
The fragrance falls into the elegant woody , and leather category, and the honey and tobacco are making it more suave . The perfumer Natalie Lorson i know for Close to Midnight from Musicology
Bohemian Infusion and Carved Oud are the two Thameen London fragrances I like the most
    Another overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Ryan Apostolo says:

This fragrance sounds really interesting because I don’t have any fragrances with honey in them. I really appreciate Steven’s reviews because I think he is very detailed in his descriptions.

  • First of all, thank you so much to Twisted Lilly and CaFleureBon for organizing this giveaway! Steven’s thoughts on Thameen Chords are very detailed and it excites me as the combination of honey and tobacco is one of my favorite in perfumery. Thameen as a house always intrigued me as their creations are very artistic, but I never had the opportunity to smell any of their creations before. Would love to be considered in this giveaway! Thanks again. Love from USA!

  • I love a classic cologne profile, but I’m also an admitted performance snob so I don’t reach for them often. I’m always excited when I see someone take a cologne DNA and beef it up with deeper notes and a higher concentration. Reading Mrs. Lorson’s comments not only about the 25% concentration, but also the base of dark woods has piqued my interest quite a bit. I am also intrigued by the leather and animalic honey that Steven talked about. Definitely sounds like a very interesting take on a cologne. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • Trinity33 says:

I’ve not tried anything from Thameen yet but I do like the citrus, honey, leather and tobacco notes in this one. I appreciate the animalic notes mentioned in his review. I’m in the US.

  • WaltherP99 says:

I’m familiar with not all but most of Thameen fragrances, and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1. Nassak / Carved Oud
    2. Amber Room
    3. Cullinan Diamond
    Nassak is in my possession
I’m not into Opera or Stanley Kubrick fan ,but i like the way Christopher Chong spoke of NatalieLorson, for a very good reason I believe , Blossom Love , Lilac , Sun Goddess, Close to Midnight, Oriana are all great. High concentration, contrasting notes , darker base – Natalie Lorson introduction is so stimulating.
Chords is appealing to me for a variety of reasons, Natalie Lorson own words, her first collaboration with Thameen London snd Christopher Chong , the look on Steven’s face .
Posh and slightly daring fragrance playing with sweet, woody , tobacco and dark undertones . I’m definitely intrigued by such sophisticated fragrances.
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Steven’s video review of Thameen London Chords. He is so well spoken and always gives a thorough and in depth analysis of everything he reviews. This sounds really interesting because I like tobacco based fragrances especially when combined with honey. Steven says it’s a raw and animalic leaning honey which I would love to try. He also said there is a prominent leather note that is not suedelike but not overly smoky and animalic like tuscan leather. Steven also said this is a great performing fragrance which is also a plus for me. I love everything I’ve tried from Thameen Fragrances, so I would love to win this. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • Interesting introduction to THAMEEN Chords. Chong’s comments about the artistic conversation at play with this perfume are thoughtful. Lorson mentioned using “extreme contrasting notes,” which I assume makes for a dramatic progression as this fragrance dries down. Steven’s video review highlighted the raw honey note, which has an animalic bite; the leather accord also sounds unique. Being on the “heavier, more daring side of things,” THAMEEN Chords will be a wonderful cold weather wear, especially with the robust longevity. It sounds like heady stuff.

    I’m in the USA.

  • y1NYang69 says:

Leather, tobacco, and honey sounds like an awesome combination of notes. The review seems to describe it as something well balanced between lightness and darkness. Would love to try this! Love from NY

  • Sounds heady! I enjoyed Steven’s description of the contrast between the dark and the sweet/ bright in Chords because while I love the main notes, some of the more mass appeal variations are a bit sweet for my taste. I also love a perfume with great longevity. Thanks and hello from CO, USA!

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the wonderful review Steven and the nice writeup.

Nathalie Lorson’s fragrances are quite interesting and she’s done a lot of tobacco fragrances over the course of her career. I like that in this fragrance, there is a good contrast between the light and fresh. An animalic honey just adds to the charm.

I would lvoe to sample this.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • foreverscents says:

I love that this fragrance contrasts the dark leather, tobacco and honey opening with the freshness of the neroli and bergamot. The raw animalic honey sounds perfect for cool days, but a soft touch would be good on warmer days. I think the gregarious and bold nature of the fragrance really appeals to me. I am a big fan of Nathalie Lorson’s artistry.
    I live in the USA.

  • Thameen Chords sounds like a beautiful fragrance. I have yet to try anything from Thameen, but have a few on my wishlist to sample. Thank you for the draw! In the US.

  • roxhas1cat says:

I don’t know anything about Hanel’s music, but Steve’s description of the honey has my interest. I am a fan of Nathalie’s fragrances. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • The only Thameen London I’ve smelled is Carved Oud , and it’s just great, one of the best in the genre. To my knowledge the house most popular fragrance , at least on social media . Of course I know Christopher Chong for his previous work with Amouage , and I’m glad Natalie Lorson is the perfumer behind Chords , the two had some beautiful collaborations in the past , and now are making exquisite fragrances for Thameen London.
Chords feels so upscale , and refined. I like the tobacco, dark woods , novelty leather and playful honey accord.
Judging by Christopher Chong work with Amouage, his level of respect for Natalie Lorson creativity, and affirmed by Steven, sure enough Chords is special , I’m thrilled . The “very long lasting with intoxicating sillage” words by Natalie Lorson do excite me even more.
    Thanks for the draw

Leather and honey is a combination I rarely smell these days. Steven is one of my favorite fragrance reviewers. If he enjoys it, then it must be great. Really looking forward to a smelling it.
