SHOPPE OBJECT New York Summer Market, the premier home and gift trade show, was held this year from August 3rd to 5th. For 2025, Shoppe Object has a new location within the bright, sprawling, open-concept 3rd and 4th floors of the historic Starrett-Lehigh BuildingCompletely sold out to exhibitors, this was the largest show ever, featuring over 800 hand-selected brands. The new space allows for an expanded roster of hand-selected exhibitors while maintaining Shoppe Object’s approachable, elevated atmosphere and intimate feel. I spent nearly five hours meeting and speaking with some new and familiar brands.

The female-led brand La Jolie Muse was founded in 2016. Based in California, they make the magic of premium fragrance accessible to the world. With a love of art and a deep respect for nature, they design the little luxuries that make a space feel like you. The eco-conscious brand uses non-toxic premium soy wax blend, lead-free cotton wicks, and phthalate-free fragrances to ensure every burn is clean, safe, and indulgent, and is housed in artful, reusable vessels.

Brooklyn’s The New Savant’s mission is to reshape the world of fragrance by creating expansive scent stories across all cultural identities. Founders Ingrid Nilsen and Erica Anderson work with a women-led team that creates custom-made, premium fragrance oils, which are vegan, paraben-free, and phthalate-free. Ingrid Nilsen, co-founder, is a modern nose, developing new scents and bringing them to life with perfumers at Givaudan. A new scent experience (meant to be worn on your body) is Future Lovers Perfume Mist (citrus|floral). Earlier this year, they landed their candle collection at Blue Mercury. Kudos!

Founded in 1752 in Newport, Rhode Island, Caswell-Massey holds the distinction of being America’s fourth-oldest continuously operating company and its oldest consumer brand. From a small apothecary to the quintessential American luxury fragrance and soap brand that is esteemed by ten generations of customers, celebrities, and Presidents alike, they designed their scents to honor the places and people that shaped the brand’s history. The brand has recently undergone a leadership change and new ownership. Here’s hoping for a continued bright future.

TRUDON’s illustrious history as a brand that is constantly evolving in the present. As the former royal wax manufacturer for the royal families until the French Revolution, Trudon helped create glorious and enchanting moments at the Versailles castle with its candles. Their motto, which you can read on their emblem, is “Deo Regique Laborant”, which means: the bees work for God and the King. Trudon has just launched the Nuit Rouge Collection, a new trio of fragrances: 45°, Midnight Omen, and Mystique.

Carriere Freres has a rich history that dates back to 1884. The brand was awarded a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. Part of the succession line of The Royal Wax Factory, today known as Trudon, they manufacture in the TRUDON factory in Normandy. The candles are all handcrafted and come in a range of singular scents inspired by exotic or indigenous oils. The brand has a close association with the National Museum of Natural History and highlights one of their mutual values: the preservation of Earth’s biodiversity. Paying tribute to botanical research, the brand is organized around a table of scents that epitomize the natural biodiversity of the plant kingdom: the scented candles regroup a range of single-note perfumes that include exotic, indigenous, and aromatic essences unveiled by 18th-century botanists and explorers. A contemporary take on a prosperous era of discoveries.

Poured New York was founded by Dennis Green and Ricky Tiscareno. Armed with extensive backgrounds in fashion product development and the tech start-up world, they spawned an innovative retail and hospitality concept that allows customers to hand-blend bespoke scented candles and perfumes, customizing them with a variety of colors and shapes to complement their décor. The Poured Candle Bar, opened in 2020, offers customers the experience to create candles, perfumes, and diffusers.

Founded in 1996 in the Italian Alps, luxury beauty and wellness brand  HöbePerghis offers a collection of skincare products designed to restore balance, vitality, and skin health. Rooted in Alpine heritage with a commitment to purity, the products are formulated with hand-harvested herbs. From the vision of a naturopath, the name means “Mountain Herbs” in Cimbrian, the ancient language of the Asiago region.

What’s the world’s first scented candle? RigaudWhat were Jackie Kennedy’s favorite candles? Rigaud. Word has it that Jackie Kennedy had these in the White House. The Rigaud story starts in 1852 when Jean Baptiste Rigaud moved to Paris from his native Auvergne. Fascinated by the world of scent, he began developing distinctive perfumes for which the Rigaud brand would later become famous. The clear glass vessels allow the beautiful colors of the wax to fully reflect the style of your home. The candles are poured, prepared, and packed by hand – even the ribbons are hand-placed and tied in the tradition of the great French luxury houses. They use unique fragrances at a generous concentration of between 8% and 12%. And, they smell SO good!

Austin, Texas, Flora Vesta fragrances begin at the blending table of founder and formulator Kate Faulk. Her ongoing studies in herbalism, aromatherapy, and natural perfume deepen each formula, bringing in the wisdom of plant traditions and the quiet power of botanicals. Each creation is made in small batches to honor the integrity of the ingredients and preserve the natural beauty of every blend. Flora Vesta is inspired by the Roman goddesses Flora, the goddess of flowers and spring, and Vesta, the goddess of the hearth and home.

Catskills Candle Studio is a story of Nicole Andrick’s passion, creativity, and deep connection to her surroundings. Originally from New York City, Nicole was drawn to the peaceful allure of the Catskill Mountains. This contrast between urban sophistication and natural tranquility became the foundation for her unique candle business. Combining her fashion design background with modern design elements and the fresh, earthy scents of the Catskills. She uses 100% natural soy wax sourced from American-grown soybeans, ensuring a clean, eco-friendly burn.

The history of Féret cosmetics is, above all, a family story. The family has been creating and manufacturing skincare products in France since 1878, when the Féret brothers, Lucien and Roger, succeeded their father. The perfumes are a bridge between the past and present. The two original perfume creations tell the story of the Féret family, childhood memories, French elegance, and refinement. The signature, unique, quality fragrances that trigger these memories are L’Eau de Madame and L’Eau de Monsieur.

MON OEIL (pronounced [mo(n) neuy]) means “my eye” in French, but the phrase also means something like “no way” or “I don’t believe you.” The agency’s goal is to bring the highly curated brands it represents to the American market. They have recently taken on L.T. PIVER, one of the oldest perfume houses still active in France. I was most impressed with the brand and its range. Founded in 1774 in Paris, our manufactory has upheld the tradition of Master Perfumers, using only the finest raw materials. L.T. Piver continues to build on craftsmanship and tradition instead of annual new releases with flanker succession. The successful fragrances Rêve d’Or, Pompeïa, Héliotrope Blanc, Eau des Princes, À La Reine des Fleurs, and Cuir de Russie still make up the perfume product range. Production takes place in Chartres, to the west of Paris, in the heart of the “Cosmetic Valley”. Perfume raw materials come from Grasse.

In closing. It’s impossible to spend the time to discover all the quality brands presented in one day. No matter how much you schedule your visit, you will always miss a few. One thing is certain: I always leave feeling inspired and impressed.
