Pissara and Ida at Esxence 2024

Ah, the poets! They appeared unbidden, as if conjured – the aromatic children of desire and longing – with my inaugural spray of Pissara Umavijani of Parfums Dusita upcoming release Pelagos (a parfum extrait), which will become available this May. Pissara previewed Parfums Dusita Pelagos a few weeks ago at Esxence 2024, and as she did so I experienced an unanticipated epiphany right there, on the spot. This parfum is so exquisite that I was left breathless and in a state of advanced awe. As you know, it is exceedingly rare for me to fall head-over-heels for an aquatic fragrance; Pelagos was the exception to the rule. Rhapsody was inevitable (by the way – Pelagos translates as “sea”: fitting indeed).  Although several perfumers/creative directors had expressed a desire to gather together in Milan, Pissara was among the few who reached out and specifically requested a meeting, quite a bit in advance – which touched me deeply. Perhaps this is her customary manner, but whatever the reason, I was thrilled and we agreed upon a time. She and I had not spent any significant time together since 2019, and I am always excited to experience a talented perfumer’s body of work.

It can be challenging to arrive at point A when you find yourself all over the place, especially if there are symposia you wish to attend. Very few events manage to run like clockwork, so you basically dash from booth to booth. Both my husband I were cordially greeted, offered coffee, chocolate, and water; Pissara was genuinely enthusiastic and put us at ease immediately. We were surrounded by her artistically adorned booth, resplendent with Pissara’s vibrant watercolors – in this case, an Aegean Sea island respite where she and her husband had been able to escape for a while during her pregnancy. The images evoked her experience of détente, and correlated brilliantly with her latest oeuvre – an abundance of synaesthetic elements.

“Tell me where my limit lies

so I may go up to it

and knock just so gently

to show I am human.” ~ Montri Umavijani

Pissara was inspired by one of her late father’s poems, in which he “exalted the vastness of the human spirit”, a sense of infinite possibility. As she contemplated the convergence of sea and sky in this eponymous village nestled into the municipality of Tripoli, Arcadia, and Greece, Pissara envisioned a fragrance which might encapsulate its legendary light and ambiance. In reality, Parfums Dusita Pelagos was a long time in the making – and when you experience it, you will understand why.

Pelagos is unique in its complex beauty, and I find it very challenging to attempt to categorize it. It is far more than the sum of its parts; the simplistic nomenclature “aquatic” doesn’t begin to describe it. This perfume is an immersive adventure: unique au monde while concomitantly echoing the grand structure of haute parfumerie. This is precisely what a modern classic should smell like: multi-tiered, radiant, all-encompassing – all the while emphasizing our kinship with the natural world. Firstly, Pissara undeniably employs the most exquisite materials available, and a mere sniff informs us of this posthaste. It commences with the clarion call of a bevy of citrus abundance which rouses the senses, followed by a ‘sea breeze accord’ that is photorealistic in scope – utilizing pine, cypress, clary sage, and oakmoss in a compelling, irresistible manner. The effect of this union is as dazzling as the reflection of the horizon upon the ocean’s gentle waves, and it is arresting. It demands that we halt in our tracks and inhale deeply, more than once. There is a profound sense of reverence which surrounds Parfums Dusita Pelagos. The perfume’s heart consists of a matchless herbal floralcy, weaving jasmine, white thyme, and tonka into William Blake”s cloths of heaven – which translates (to our noses) as a velvety leather presence, an olfactory sleight-of-hand. Pelagos’ base may appear classic to the naked eye, but its elegance and deep feeling arise from carefully considered proportions – and the presence of ambrette, sandalwood, amyris, patchouli and vetiver remind one of the hulls of ancient seaworthy vessels and the undulating coast.

Pelagos will definitely be included in my finest releases of 2024; how could it not? It has evoked a primal response which is overwhelmingly visceral, as well as possessing the ability to access the deeply spiritual in me. It is so clearly beyond gender constraints that Pelagos is truly a parfum for our time – and the times to come. It will never age, much like Cleopatra’s infinite charms. Allow me to close with the tender perceptions of the great Greek poet Cafavy:

Let me stop here. Let me, too, look at nature awhile.
The brilliant blue of the morning sea, of the cloudless sky,
the yellow shore; all lovely,
all bathed in light. ~ excerpt from Morning Sea, by Konstantinos Petrou Kavafis, aka Constantine P. Cafavy

Notes: bergamot, orange, litsea cubeba, sea breeze accord (pine, cypress, clary sage, oakmoss), orris butter, jasmine, white thyme, tonka bean, sandalwood, amyris, patchouli, vetiver, ambrette, incense, benzoin

Pre-order for Parfums Dusita Pelagos will commence on May 10th, 2024

I have not tried any Parfums Dusita fragrances yet. Pelagos sounds intriguing, and unlike anything I have in my collection. I love the idea of merging sea and sky, time and location. I am in CA, USA.

Oh, wow! Giveaway of the YEAR! Similar to Ida, I am not often swayed by aquatic scents, but my love of Parfums Dusita has me excited to give it a sniff. Melodie de L’amour and Erewan are the two Parfums Dusita fragrances that I’m constantly about to purchase full bottles of (still need to use my samples to the last drop!).

    I’m in Virginia, USA.

  • WillRhodes says:

Fantastic! Pelagos really does sound like it changes the entire scope of how we expect an aquatic fragrance to be, because this is obviously so much more than that, as Ida said. The sea breeze accord sounds so beautiful with the blend of pine, cypress, clary sage and oak moss. I can feel its breath of fresh air just by imagination. I do love how fragrance can open the spiritual parts of our beings and take us to places, often painting a picture of a special time or forgotten memory. I feel that Pelagos could take me somewhere I’ve been meaning to uncover.
    In Chicago!

  • For such a perfume to already be on your most loved list of 2024, it must truly be amazing, and to be an aquatic! Well done, I’d say. In maryland.

  • Owen Blackwood says:

I am yet to try a fragrance from Parfums Dusita. From reading about this Pelagos it sounds like a beautiful fresh yet sophisticated professional cologne if that makes sense. I love how it sounds aquatic fresh yet unique and challenging. I am in PA, USA.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Melodie de L’amour de Dusita is my favorite, but I am curious about this perfume. I would like to feel as glamorous as Cleopatra in the sea breeze. I am from EU

  • AleksCipri says:

If someone can do a multi-faceted and interesting aquatinc fragrance that’s for sure Pissara. I am also rarely blown away by aquatics, but when I do like one I tend to use it a lot as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer. My spouse also loves them especially when they are paired with aromatic and green notes, and of course, incense, which this one has. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • Similar to Ida’s experience, it is not often that I am instantly smitten by aquatic fragrances. (I think the last aquatic type fragrance I truly loved was Loumari’s Porthole.) To read Ida’s high praises of Pelagos tells me that there really must be something special here. I love the vivid imagery Ida provided us in her review – the sea breeze, the undulating coast. I can almost feel the salty spray. So far my favorite from Dusita is Rosarine, an incredible tribute to the queen of florals. Now I’m eager to see how they pay homage to the sea. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

  • Max Corvinus says:

This is, in essence, my father sitting on the shore, fishing rod in hand. He loves the sea and all the aquatic perfumes and I strongly believe he would fall in love with Pelagos. He has been supporting my perfumed path since I divulged to him that I want to write about perfume for a living, and for that I wish to give him a special present.

Pissara Umavijani is a master perfumer and I love her creation a lot . Can’t wait to get my hands on to this

  • This was a stunning review but this part stood out to me the most m: “ It demands that we halt in our tracks and inhale deeply, more than once. I’m looking for my fragrances to feel like full body experiences so this stirred me. This is also a little different than my usual scent profile so that’s exciting. I love Anamcara and Le Douceur de Siam from Dusita and am itching to try La Rhapsodie Noire and Issara

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

An aquatic fragrance that left Ida breathless. Count me in! I live in Maryland USA.

  • Ramses Perez says:

The Aegean Sea continues to be an inspiration to many perfumers and this one sounds like one of its most complete creations. I love the name as well as soon as I saw it, it’s very exotic. I’m not a huge fan or marine or aquatic fragrances either but I can tell by the notes this is more than that. Surely to be a great summer scent, this one will pair nicely on a hot summer day by the sea. Fleur De Lalita is still a favorite of mine from Parfums Dusita. Cheers from the USA.

  • Imagine redefining your perception of aquatic fragrances entirely. That’s the magic of Pelagos, as Ida rightly observed. It transcends the typical aquatic notes, weaving a captivating tapestry of sea breeze accord. Hints of pine, cypress, clary sage, and oak moss dance in harmony, creating an olfactory landscape that transcends mere description. Close your eyes and inhale deeply. A wave of freshness washes over you, transporting you to a place of tranquility. This isn’t just a fragrance; it’s an invitation to awaken the soul’s senses. With every breath, Pelagos whisks you away to distant shores, sparking cherished memories or igniting a yearning for unexplored destinations. For me, Pelagos whispers of the enchanting French coastline, a place I’ve dreamt of discovering.

The note breakdown looks very interesting to me. I enjoyed reading your review. I live in PA, USA

  • How lovely – a new Dusita! I really adore the inspiration that Pissara takes from her father’s poems – it’s a very nice tribute. The review has me excited to try this one, particularly the description of the photorealistic sea breeze accord. I think my favorite Dusita I’ve tried thus far might be Erawan – though I am a big fan of her fragrances in general. I’m in the USA.

  • oh, my, yes, aquatic that betokens the sea, not a men’s cologne! and the depth described here is delicious! I adore both Erawan and Issara, but I think Erawan is my favorite Dusita fragrance. I live in the USA.

  • jlsteckley says:

Sounds like a really interesting take on an aquatic. Can’t wait to smell it!

  • I have enjoyed every sample I have tried from Parfums Dusita. There is a signature base or something unique that all of the samples I have tried share. Meaning they all possess this scent profile/base that tells you its from house Dusita. Quality ingredients is something I detected immediately with the mutiple fragrances I have sampled from the house, and other than Oudh Infini (which is one of the best/realistic oud fragrances I have sampled), the ones I have sampled were soft, delicate fragrances that had this gentle sillage. Very natural smelling, with no screeching synthetic notes. The notes listed for Pelagos sound interesting. My favorite Dusita would be hard to choose, but from the ones I have sampled I would say Oudh Infini and Issara. Thank you for the draw! I’m in the US.

  • What a sweet warm review Ida! How lovely it sounds. I really gravitate towards the sea blends that don’t rely on calone/blue notes but instead pick up the drift wood and amyris and salt and cypress. And then balance with the shoreline citrus and warm toasty tonka and benzoin sands. I can’t wait to try this. I’m in California, thank you for the chance to win!

  • AromaDulce73 says:

This sounds like a great summer fragrance. Never heard of a “sea breeze accord” but I definitely would like to see what that smells like. This would be my 1st Dusita fragrance.

Notes: bergamot, orange, litsea cubeba, sea breeze accord (pine, cypress, clary sage, oakmoss), orris butter, jasmine, white thyme, tonka bean, sandalwood, amyris, patchouli, vetiver, ambrette, incense, benzoin. A wonderful description really fascinated by the notes especially Patchouli, Sandalwood, Incense, Ambrette and benzoin. Thanks a million from the UK

This perfume is an immersive adventure: unique au monde while concomitantly echoing the grand structure of haute parfumerie. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I am sick of most typical aquatics. This definatley sounds like something different. I would love to win/try this. NJ, USA

  • Pelagos seems to be a perfume that explores more than just the surface of the sea, but the depth of it, the mystery and the vastness of it. Would love to try it. And I love Splendiris and Rosarine by Dusita. The presentation is also truly beautiful. Greetings from Romania, EU.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

This sounds incredible. A modern classic that is beyond an aquatic. I’d love to win this and live in Indiana.

  • Lushestpanda says:

I am a big fan of aquatic fragrances, especially if they transcend the established boundaries of popular designer offerings. I found Idas review beautifully evocative, and the description of the watery accord based around pine, cypress, clary sage and oakmoss had me captivated. I would absolutely love to smell this. I know Parfums Dusita for their excellence and love Rosarine for its beautiful rendering of a succulent rose with a secret.
    I live in Germany. ^_^

  • Danu Seith-Fyr says:

Pelagos was one of my highlights also dear Ida, a veritable, uplifting revelation, that eureka moment when you find something that flashes upon you and instantly transports you to a sublime place. Beautiful words for such an exquisite creation. I live in SW France.

  • My interest is sparked by “modern classic” and “multi-tiered”, not to mention with nine months left in the year the reviewer already declares this a top ten for 2024. US

  • I haven’t tried any fragrances from Parfums Dusita yet, but I would be very excited to add Pelagos to my collection! I absolutely adore aquatic scents and this sounds enchanting with its citrus and ocean breeze accords. I find it most peaceful to be close to the water because I spent a lot of happy days on boats in the ocean with my father as a young girl, so whenever I smell coastal scents, it brings me happiness. New York, USA.

  • Honestly I can’t say I’m a always dressed up kind of guy like, or that i wear classy fragrances all the time like the person on Pelagos storyboard , but Ida Meister made me realize I need to buy a suit for the two upcoming weddings I’m invited to. Pelagos i could wear on such occasions , modern yet classy fragrance with citruses, pine and leather.
Thanks to Ida I also know not only how the fragrance smells, how classy it is but also how Pissara Umavijani was inspired by one of her father’s poems.

“Both my husband I were cordially greeted, offered coffee, chocolate, and water; Pissara was genuinely enthusiastic and put us at ease immediately.”

Love it ,how every guest should be welcomed.
From Parfums Dusita I enjoy the most La Rhapsodie Noire and La Douceur de Siam , in my Pastry Chef mind they smell like
☆ La Rhapsodie – Noire Rum Raisin Coffee Cake , with some whiff of a cigar nearby.
☆La Douceur de Siam to me smells like apricot and frangipani dessert cake . It’s popular in some Asian countries.
Appreciate the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Kelly Atwood says:

Wow this sounds incredible!!! I was actually moved to tears reading this review and hearing the depth of meaning for Pissara in the making of this perfume. I would absolutely love to be considered for this giveaway. I am in TX.

  • Leaving Ida breathless is a feat in and of itself! Never thought Pissara would attempt an aquatic, but I’m exceptionally glad she put her unique twist on the genre. I’ve always been a huge fan of pinenes in fragrances, and the fact that Pissara used them in her sea breeze accord makes me jump for joy. Very intrigued to hear about the herbal florals in the heart too – something that I particularly resonante with in traditional gentleman’s perfumery. And that matte black bottle….si si si. Certainly matches the velvety leatheriness Ida mentions. On the verge of celebrating my nautically obsessed father’s birthday, this would seem like a fitting gift. More affordable than the TUDOR watch anyway. lol “And may your voyages be everbright, swaddled by grace and awash with determined glory; may your bounties fill the vastness of your breadth and direct your compass to lofty shores. For you are the tide, and together we shall rise and fall, and bear the brunt of our eternal nature – to move, to discover and graciously meet the sands of time.”

  • Ida’s eloquent review of Parfums Dusita Pelagos sparks my interest with its vivid portrayal of the fragrance’s inspiration drawn from the convergence of sea and sky in the Aegean Sea village. The meticulous craftsmanship and use of exquisite materials promise an immersive olfactory journey that transcends simplistic categorization, evoking a primal and deeply spiritual response. I’m intrigued by the blend’s photorealistic sea breeze accord and the harmonious interplay of herbal florals, leather, and classic base notes, which reflect a timeless elegance reminiscent of ancient maritime voyages.
My favorite Parfums Dusita was Oudh Infini.

  • Ida’s review of Parfums Dusita Pelagos is incredibly captivating, painting a vivid picture of a fragrance that transcends typical categorizations and immerses the wearer in a multisensory experience. The poetic descriptions of Pelagos’ composition, inspired by the convergence of sea and sky, evoke a deep sense of reverence and connection to the natural world. I’m particularly intrigued by the use of high-quality materials and the intricate balance of citrus, herbal, and floral notes, which promise a truly unique olfactory journey. Pelagos seems to be more than just a perfume; it’s an invitation to explore the depths of both the sea and the soul. I love Erawan from this brand a lot!

Gorgeous review! I find myself very occasionally craving aquatic scents but only in particular situations. This sounds like such an interesting aquatic in that it seems to be able to transcend the category. I am always so impressed with Dusita’s compositions and am madly in love with Rosarine. Thank you for the generous draw. In the USA.

  • Wow Ida, what a great review. I have similar reservations about aquatic scents as you, but your words and the scent pyramid make me very curious! And what a coincidence that this sea breeze takes your breath away. The creations of Parfums Dusita are in a class of their own and I would be delighted to win one.
    I am from the EU

  • I do enjoy many fragrances from Parfums Dusita. One of my favs is Splendiris. I liked Ida’s mention of jasmine and white thyme as heart notes. Herbal scents are my favorite in perfumery. I always look forward to reading Pissara’s father’s beautiful poems that inspire her creativity. Thanks for another wonderful review and draw. MI USA

  • I find impressive how Ida Meister, the fragrance journalist was able to merge elegant fragrance like Pelagos with Esxence 2024 , Aegean Sea , poem by the late father of Pissara Umavijani and William Blake , sea breeze sandalwood and patchouli , all were able to amaze Ida . Top quality and artistry , say no more.
I just recently discovered Parfums Dusita – Issara and La Rhapsodie Noire I like the most

  • I’m not an aquatic fan per say but I’m not against it either. This article has made me rethink this though, especially based off the description, with phrases like “ complex beaut“ and “ immersive adventure”. I’m absolutely intrigued at this loint and with me building my spring/summer scents this sounds like a perfect addition.

I’ve been looking into Dusita a little but I haven’t tried anything as of yet.

    Indiana USA

  • I don’t like aquatic perfumes, but I like all the dusita perfumes my favorites are Oudh infini, Le Sillage Blanc, Le Pavillon d’or.
I would like to try Pelagos because I would like to finally find a truly beautiful marine perfume.
    I live in France, EU

  • This is a beautiful, poetic review of this new fragrance by the fantastic Dusita House. Having tried some of Pissara’s creations such as Anamcara and Oudh Infini, and based on my love of those, this new creation sparks my interest. Aquatic, or fragrances inspired by the sea, is a territory that has often been misundestood, perhaps by the many so called aquatic commercial releases of “designer fragrances” that simply are not what we expect. I hope i have the opportunity to try this someday, or win a bottle on this giveway! I’m in the USA.

  • Patricia R. says:

My interest has been sparked. Would love to try a new approach to the acquatics. I live in the EU.

  • It’s always a good thing when a fragrance can speak to us personally and the words that were mentioned about this fragrance clearly brought people to words of poetry which were the inspiration of the fragrance. This new take on an aquatic including tonka bean and sandalwood has my nose definitely wanting to take a sniff and the fact that Ida already has it on her list for best of 2024….definitely has me wondering.

I live in Dallas, TX and I have yet to try anything from Parfums Dustia

It could be a customary manner, but such personal experience, and making you feel not a customer but a welcomed guest is almost a forgotten act in 2024.
I like the Pissara envisioned a fragrance of light and ambiance, connected to the ocean and the breeze. Being a tailor i like elegant haute perfumery.
I own Erawan and despite the different profiles Pelagos Erawan do have the same vibe to me both classy fragrances , made with quality ingredients by Pissara , to me that’s more than enough , I’ll find a sample.
Thank you Ida , Parfums Dusita

  • So many aquatics are, frankly, dull. It used to be a genre that I avoided. But I’ve come to enjoy what great perfumers have been able to with it recently (Kenzo Homme EDP is a fave). I don’t have a favorite Parfums Dusita scent (yet), but Ida makes this one sound very interesting! I’m in Oklahoma, USA.

  • cc.alexandra8@gmai.com says:

Great article from Ida that paints a wonderful and clear picture of what sounds like a truly great perfume! • I’m not well familiar with Parfums Dusita, I only know two so reading about Pelagos in such details was fascinating . The way Ida Meister described it , and the whole experience she has visiting Pissara Umavijani makes me think it would be calming and relaxing fragrances , capable of putting me in a zen mode. With all the stress at work I had lately , and I need a 10/10 Zen fragrance , so bottle of Pelagos would be a dream come true with the power of the sea ,pine and sandalwood.
Keeping the artistic memories of your father alive, no matter what , i think Pissara process of making Pelagos was both pleasure, and a kind of nostalgic .
The two Parfums Dusita fragrances I’ve smelled are Issara and La Rhapsodie Noire , both are equally as good
    Thanks for the draw

  • Ida has such exquisite taste in fragrance. I know Parfums Dusita Pelagos must be something special. I’ve yet to try an aquatic perfume I love, so I’m looking forward to trying this. The sea breeze accord sounds lovely. I’m in the US.

  • Love Ida’s phrasing of “desire and longing,” and the Cafavy poem! Interesting combination of notes – jasmine is one of my favorites, and this sounds so complex. I can imagine a whiff of sea breeze with the citrus, pine, and sage – very Mediterranean! Thanks for sharing, and greetings from Colorado, USA!

  • This must be amazing if Ida is left breathless, especially for an aquatic. I would love to win this fragrance, but if not I will get my nose on it for sure!! Thanks for the chance. My favorite from Dusita is Erawan. USA.

  • La Mer poem by Charles Trenet made med play Dee Dee Bridgewater’s interpretation from 2004 or 2005 whichbin turn made me quite nostalgic… Pelagos sounds like a beautiful tribute to the Mediterranean!

  • Ida has written a beautiful review and several aspects of it piqued my interest very, very much and would truly like to smell it.

Some of the aspects that piqued my interest are:

Evocative Imagery: The review paints a vivid picture of Pelagos as an olfactory journey, transporting wearers to a scenic village in Tripoli, Arcadia, and Greece. The imagery evoked by the fragrance, inspired by the sea and the poetry of Pissara Umavijani’s late father, creates a sense of intrigue and curiosity about the scent’s ability to capture such depth and emotion.

Complexity and Artistry: Pelagos is described as a modern classic, crafted with complexity and precision, defying traditional categorizations. The promise of a fragrance that transcends labels and offers a multi-layered olfactory experience suggests a level of artistry and craftsmanship that piques the interest of fragrance enthusiasts.

Universal Appeal: The review suggests that Pelagos possesses a universal appeal that transcends gender constraints. Its ability to evoke a primal and deeply spiritual response suggests that it may resonate with a wide range of individuals, regardless of gender or personal preferences.

Timelessness: Pelagos is portrayed as a timeless fragrance that captures the beauty of nature and the human spirit. Its promise of a scent that is both radiant and all-encompassing, with the ability to evoke the grandeur of the sea and the serenity of ancient landscapes, creates an allure that transcends fleeting trends and fads.

There are a couple of Dusitas I TRULY LOVE – gorgeous and carnal animalics of Oudh Infini most of all, followed by beautiful timelessnes of Montri and brilliant elegance of Issara.

    I live in Croatia.

  • PELAGOS, evocative name, the fragrance is described as complex and at the same time intimate, unique, not the usual aquatic, it intrigues me a lot. The watercolor, beautiful, gives me a great sense of freedom. I have nothing of this brand.

A signature aquatic scent is one of my white horses. I long to find it, yet have not. I haven’t tried any of the Parfums Dusita offering, yet I have wanted to for a long time. And I am always looking to connect to women perfumers in this manner. The poem written by Pissara’s father recreates the space I am in right now. Wondering and pondering about the human condition. In open space. Thank you, writing from Romania

Parfums Dusita Pelagos is high grade reefined , and elegant fragrance i will try after the official release. The modern take on a classic with woody aromatic, spicy and aquatic nuances, keeping the elegant profile , and the velvety leather presence definitely sparked my interest.

La Rhapsodie Noire and Moonlight In Chiangmai and Issara in my opinion are the best Parfums Dusita perfumes

  • Personally I’m glad smaller brands like Parfums Dusita are still implementing more classical , and artisanal approaches , instead of futuristic technology.
Pelagos i find attractive because of how exquisite it is , Aegean Sea immersive adventure climate and the irresistible manner of the velvety leather, sandalwood and patchouli.
It’s been a pleasure learning about Pelagos, the way Ida Meister was treated at Esxence too
    Rosarine is my favorite
    Much obliged

  • True friendship and personal approach are hard to find nowadays … I always try to treat my customers at the barbershop the same way Pissara treated Ida Meister.
Modern, multilayered , classy not in a old fashion way , I’m eager to try Pelagos. I’m so interested in the organic partnership between of the sea breeze and the woody coastal notes.
The powdery, waxy iris Splendiris i wear quite often, my favorite from Parfums Dusita
    Thanks to all involved

  • Pelagos’ base may appear classic to the naked eye, but its elegance and deep feeling arise from carefully considered proportions – and the presence of ambrette, sandalwood, amyris, patchouli and vetiver remind one of the hulls of ancient seaworthy vessels and the undulating coast.
Loved it like the greek pelagos! From EU.

Thanks for the lovely review Ida.

I’ve read a lot about Parfums Dusita and have only had the chance to the Oudh Infini. I love what the brand does with the poetry of her late father and this scent is a really nice idea of the convergence of sky and sea.

I find the sea breeze accord to be interesting – filled with fresh pine and herbal notes.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • What an exquisite portrayal of Pelagos by Ida! Your poetic prose beautifully captures the essence of this fragrance, from the matchless herbal floralcy to the velvety leather presence that dances through William Blake’s cloths of heaven. Your profound connection to Pelagos, evoking both primal and deeply spiritual responses, speaks volumes about its timeless appeal and genderless allure. Thank you for sharing such an enchanting glimpse into this olfactory masterpiece.

Pelagos is like photorealistic image of Pissara love , and admiration for her father , going through the prisms of the human spirit , and modern day eponymous village by the sea , all made up , and bottled up in a scent .
I expect Pelagos to be partially vintage, partially contemporary and because of Ida’s lovely review, and the sea breeze nuances i’m intrigued .
Since i know all Parfums Dusita fragrances , except for Pelagos , I have to say this brand is unique , and Pissara is one of a kind extrovert.
If I have to rate my personal favorite Parfums Dusita fragrances:
    1. Erawan
    2. Issara
    3. La Rhapsodie Noire /Moonlight In Chiangmai
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg

  • I am in the US. I am a big fan of Dusita fragrances, mainly the earlier work. I am curious about the aquatic aspect of this work, as this is generally the genre I struggle with

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

I was lucky enough to sample a few of Pissara’s scents – loved them to bits. If I am forced to pick a favourite, that’d be Splendiris.
Aquatics are among my fav types of fragrances, I’m sure Pelagos is as exquisite as the other Dusita perfumes – they’ll never age, either 🙂

  • What makes me interested is that Ida has already included it in the list of the best perfumes for 2024 plus her struggle with the categorization of perfumes, which only means that the perfume is much more than the other representatives of its category and that it certainly carries novelty with it. I also like the description of Pissara as one of the few who reached out and specifically requested a meeting, well in advance, which only reaffirms her reputation as an extremely professional and hardworking person (in addition to being very generous). I own Oudh Infini and Erawan, but Erawan is without any competition Dusita’s favorite perfume and in the Top 5 best perfumes ever.

  • This sounds lovely! Not a simple aquatic, something grander, something deeper, something more fragrant. Wonderfully written by Ida, capturing my attention and intrigue almost immediately. Hopefully I get to try this upcoming masterpiece from Dusita, a house I sadly have not tried yet despite my intentions to.

I am new to the brand and I’ve enjoyed hearing about how poetry has inspired her fragrances. She also sounds like a lovely human being.

  • Aquatic fragrances generally aren’t my thing, so I was intrigued when Ida said “it is exceedingly rare for me to fall head-over-heels for an aquatic fragrance” but Pelagos is the exception to the rule. Like the seaside watercolor featured in Ida’s review, Pelagos is more than just the churning waves, suggesting hints of evergreen and herbal aspects of the coast. It sounds like the leathery woody-floral heart and base build that up into a perfume with presence and complexity. Great review.

I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried any Parfums Dusita fragrances.

  • IDA Your evocative description of Parfums Dusita Pelagos is simply captivating. The interplay of jasmine, white thyme, and tonka creates an enchanting herbal floralcy, reminiscent of William Blake’s celestial fabric, while subtly revealing a velvety leather undertone. The carefully balanced base notes, reminiscent of ancient seaworthy vessels, lend an air of timeless elegance and depth to this fragrance. Your personal connection to Pelagos, transcending gender boundaries and invoking both primal and spiritual responses, underscores its profound impact and enduring allure. Thank you for sharing such a mesmerizing exploration of this scent.

  • Thanks to Ida Meister review i started thinking about vacation to a small island, getting up early in the morning , still windy and rather cold watching the horizon, and breathing the breathing the fresh air from the ocean.
I’m now curious about Parfums Dusita Pelagos and the way it evolves. The contrast between the citruses, pine and woods , day and night, the profound sense of reverence Ida spoke of is to die for.
I love the idea of focusing on the best materials possible too. My favorite Parfums Dusita is Rosarine
    Thank you, and fingers crossed

  • Ida Meister observations on Parfums Dusita Pelagos are based on nostalgia, tranquility, elegance and reinterpretations of the classics.
She was also able to capture my interest with the hidden depth of the fragrance , velvety leather and the exquisite materials used.
I’m in possession of Issara, super quality tobacco
Thank you Ida Meister for your observations, and of course the generosity

    Hello from UK
In Parfums Dusita Pelagos I really like the blend of upscale and serene moments, posh yet cozy fragrance i’d love to win. I’m intrigued by the medley of florals , sea breeze, pine , sandalwood, and the meditative charm in the base.
It’s obvious that Ida Meister is so impressed by the sophistication of the fragrance, the balance between ingredients and the whole “overwhelmingly visceral” experience.
La Rhapsodie Noire is i believe the very best Parfums Dusita
    Thank you

  • foreverscents says:

Pelagos sounds like an arresting and truly breathtaking fragrance. I find it very touching that Pissara was again inspired by one of her father’s poems in the creation of the fragrance. An island in the Aegean Sea sounds like another powerful inspiration. I, like Ida, am not often thrilled by marine or aquatic fragrances, but Pelagos sounds like something too special to pass up. I love Oudh Infini from Parfums Dusita.
    I live in the USA.

  • Such a soothing high class review ! Ida Meister took me the Pelagos island at the Aegean Sea , white linen dresses, slippers, exploring the area, eating fresh organic fruits, looking how the waves are crushing into rocky shore and enjoying the strength of the sea . Tranquil experience made out of fresh citruses , jasmine, tonka , velvety leather and sense of refinery. I’m also intrigued by Pelagos because the Spring just started, and Ida Meister already planned to include Pelagos in her finest releases of 2024.
La Rhapsodie Noire is just great
    Thank you kindly, from EU

Exciting to delve into the enchanting world of Parfums Dusita Pelagos through Ida Meister’s evocative review! Pelagos seems to transcend traditional fragrance categorizations, offering an immersive journey reminiscent of the convergence of sea and sky. The blend of citrus, herbal floralcy, and deep base notes promises a multi-dimensional olfactory experience that captures the essence of nature’s grandeur.

Thank you Ida, your review is personal, emotional and informative at the same time, and I loved the poetry of Pissara’s father. I like the way she had invited you to meet her and made you feel at home. This speaks to the approachability of the amazingly talented creator and the gift that spending some time together can be. The way you describe Pelagos as a perfume instilling a sense of infinite possibility and view it as a modern classic despite sitting within the aquatic genre, my curiosity is really piqued. I am a fan of citrus and aquatic, as much as I deplore the usually short lived nature of that type of scents. My fave from Dusita is Issara. Thank you from the EU

Hello! Super fan of Dusita here- I suppose that Moonlight is my favorite but I love them all. Ida‘s description is always so enticing. Love her description of a matchless herbal floralcy. Thanks for the opportunity, in the US.

    Salutations
I don’t speak Greek, and I was not aware Pelagos means sea , but I’m definitely interested into refined woody aromatic fragrances mixed with sea breeze nuances. The fragrance feels classy, and also modern and a bit avanturistic.
I find the Pelagos tempting for the a) sensual components b) elegance c) original , inspired by one of Pissara late father’s poems narrative d) overwhelmingly visceral description by Ida Meister
No arguing here , the best Parfums Dusita is La Rhapsodie Noire
    It’s been a pleasure

I tried the tobacco fragrance Issara from Parfums Dusita. I loved it a lot. From reading about this Pelagos it sounds like a beautiful fresh yet sophisticated professional cologne if that makes sense. I love how it sounds aquatic fresh yet unique and challenging. I am in PA, USA.

  • Not sure where to begin, Ida Meister kind of changed my mind because prior to this article I never fell head-over-heals for aquatic fragrance, but i have a feeling it will most likely happen with Parfums Dusita Pelagos.
Powerful and novelty aquatic fragrance, with dark woody and herbal layers , I don’t think I’ve smelled anything like that before.
I now know Pelagos exudes profound sense of reverence, irresistible fragrance that will never age , the part of Ida Meister review i like the most
I’m a fan of La Rhapsodie Noire

I so want to visit Esxence in person, and especially Parfums Dusita booth , where I’ll be treated just as good as Ida Meister was I’m sure. I say that because I’ve been to Ms Umavijani own cozy boutique at 11 rue de la Sourdière in Paris and i was treated in the same manner.
I’m curious about Pelagos because of all sophisticated touches added to an aquatic fragrance, the natural sea breeze, the feeling of Haute perfumery , and as a whole the irresistible manner of the fragrance.
La Rhapsodie Noire is kind of sweet, and smoky, with little bit of tobacco , and coffee. 100ml for €220 was a great deal
Thank you, American living in EU

  • Impressive job from Ida . I’ve learned a lot of new things today , about her experience at Esxence, the name of the Pelagos meaning – “sea”, how the fragrance was inspired by one of Pissara late father’s poem , and most importantly how the fragrance smells and how it made Ida feel.
The rousing the senses citruses, followed by the sea breeze accord ,jasmine ,velvety leather and the profound sense of reverence surrounding Pelagos, all charmed Ida , posh fragrance no doubt.
The newest editions I don’t know , I have ~ 2020 (I think) Parfums Dusita discovery set is in my possession, and my favorite is Erawan , closely followed by Splendiris , and then comes Issara.
    Thank you for the opportunity
