Parfums de Marly Haltane Review (2021) + Avant Premier Giveaway

Parfums de Marly Haltane review

Until recently, Parfums de Marly Haltane was a Harrods exclusive. Let’s face it anything new from the brand creates a buzz in the fragrance community.  Parfums de Marly Haltane is a potent fragrance that is both traditional and modern contrasting the brightness of bergamot with the depth of leather and oud, the herbaceous quality of clary sage and lavender with a well-rounded praline accord which along with saffron are particularly prominent.  The sillage is powerful and the scent lingers for over 24 hours. The flacon paints Haltane’s olfactive story in colors of green and gold.

Notes: Bergamot, Lavender, Clary Sage, Saffron, Cedarwood, Praline, Elder Wood, Patchouli, Vetiver, Musk, Leather, Natural Agarwood

Before we watch Steven Gavrielatos, Contributing Video Journalist’s review we have a special invitation to join Parfums de Marly Managing Director of Americas Yvan Jaqueline and team Parfums de Marly on Friday May 6, 2022 at 5:00 PM EDT at the Parfums de Marly boutique on 805 Washington St, New York, NY 10014

Disclosure: I have not smelled Haltane yet, but Steven thinks it leans masculine, (although to quote Maitre Parfumeur Jean Claude Ellena in an interview I did  awhile back, “I do not use words like unisex, I prefer to say to be shared perfumes are for everybody and for each of us)Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I think parfums de Marley fragrances are top notch. They have quality ingredients that lasts all day on my skin. Pegasus is my favorite and signature scent. I plan on getting more

  • Love the house of Marley! I’ve smelled Carlisle and actually have Layton. I would love to get my hands on this fragrance.

  • baker1128 says:

Steven gave a great review as always the presentation and the notes and since this is a PDM I’m already interested and have to have one Steven from redolesence just made me want it more would love to win it and add it to my collection and start wearing it thanks again

  • I really enjoyed the complete breakdown of the fragrance. The note breakdown sounds interesting to me. My current fav PDM is Herod but I’ve only smelled a couple of them.

  • Donald Yelvington says:

As always, loved the detailed description by Steven. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Parfums de Marly Haltane employs saffrom and leather and praline makes a noticeable appearance in the fragrance. like Steven, I have also smelled Black Excess from Paco Rabanne that has praline note. Steven adds that Parfums de Marly Haltane strikes a delicate balance between spices and woods. My fav. from Parfums de Marly is Herod. I am in US.

  • As always, loved the detailed description by Steven. Thanks for the giveaway. Followed cafleurebonofficial on Instagram

  • Tony Aiello says:

Haltane sounds like a winner, right up my alley. The way Steven describes it , it’s like I can almost smell it. I have Herod, Percival and my favorite, Oajan. LOOK foward to sampling this one and thanks for doing giveaway.

  • Anant Masih says:

Steven you have a very unique way to speak about the perfumes. Over the years Ive blind-bought at least 20+ fragrances based on your reviews! And loved each and every one of them!
    Keep it up buddy!

  • Donnie white says:

The thing I love about your review is the picture you paint of the fragrances. I literally close my eyes and let you talk and incision the fragrance and all the ingredients almost like I can smell it already. I would love to try a parfums de marly fragrance and add it to my collection , and this one sounds like a great start.

  • Derick Louis says:

I’ve been a follower since the mid summer and just recently got into new fragrances. With all the knowledge Steven has I’m excited to try and find more scents that I’m in love with

  • Versacegame says:

Thank you Steven. Thank you Parfums de Marly. I appreciated Steven’s review of Haltane. I could tell he was genuinely excited about this new fragrance and also I think Steven was dressed up nicely because maybe that’s how this fragrance makes you feel. I can’t wait to try it !

  • Aditya Ponnapalli says:

Steven gave a great review as always. Super interested to smell that praline.

  • Scott Lovell says:

Incredible videos and content, came across this recently and loved every video so now have gone and watched the back catalogue. Appreciate all the great work that goes Into each episode fantastic viewing

  • Justin Padilla says:

I’m excited for this release as I am with almost all Parfums de Marly fragrances as they are enjoyable and still unique, can’t wait to get my nose on it.

  • Saad Rouineb says:

Oh man Oh man Parfums de Marly, the best niche perfumery house in the world, why ? The use of expensive super quality raw materials, creates amazing scents ! My personal favorite from the house is Herod and would still be Herod from now till the end, an absolute sweetened tobacco bomb it’s just so addictive… you cannot stop smelling yourself when you put it on … shout-out from Morocco, africa

  • Edward Saler says:

As always, Steven gives an excellent breakdown of a new fragrance. This sounds like it is right up my alley. I dig the PDM brand but I’ve haven’t been that jazzed up with their other releases to warrant buying a full bottle at retail price. But I really like the sound of this one, and since I have similar tastes to Steven I am dying to give this one a sniff. Thanks for the consideration. I’ve always been a fan of this site. Cheers, Edward

  • touchofgenius2 says:

been waiting for this to be available in the USA for so long i have purchased samples multiple times finally saw stephen review it

  • Christian Brewerton says:

I think the note breakdown on this looks amazing. Loved how he described it

  • I LOVE Parfums de Marly! I remember when I first discovered the fragrance house in February of 2019. While purchasing a bottle of Montale, the associate gave me a sample of Percival. I smelled it and was HOOKED! One year later, I got my hands on a bottle. This newly released fragrance sounds like a hit! Love the way that Steven breaks down the notes.

  • Steven’s review mentions the praline accord. I’m a huge fan of that accord and cannot WAIT for another PdM scent for my collection!

  • I like how Steven constructs his review as an academic essay with an introduction, a body and a conclusion. Also, I enjoy how he described the fragrance with poetic word choices. Very professional and sophisticated review from an English instructor!

  • I have wanted to smell this one for a good while now! Glad to see it’s available in more places

  • twiggy3634 says:

What I like about what Steven said is that the agarwood is accessible and easy to wear and not the animalic kind. I like ouds when they are used to accentuate the other notes and not the barnyard type that dominates. Also curious about the praline, I don’t have a fragrance with this note. Thanks for the giveaway. From IN, USA.

  • Love PDM and was eager to hear what direction this release would take. Also really appreciated the note breakdown on this review. I’ve ordered samples on several fragrances that surprised me as leaning very leathery without having it listed as one of the notes, and after this review I’m now realizing that it was likely the saffron that I was picking up on. Thank you for continuing to deepen my understanding and love of fragrances with these reviews!

  • I really like how Steven says the fragrance is a beast mode middle eastern style fragrance and that praline note sounds very alluring to me. I’d love to get a shot at premium beast mode fragrance like this since I can’t really afford to buy it.

  • Lee Hinojosa says:

PDM is a awesome house and Haltane seems like a fantastic addition to their fragrance line up! I look forward to getting my nose on it in the future while looking on picking up my first bottle!

  • I always enjoy Steven’s deep dive reviews, this sounds like a lovely audition to MP’s already impressive entourage. I haven’t personally smelled all of their collection but from the few that I have I can’t dismiss Layton.

  • First of all, PDM is by far my favorite fragrance house whether it’s niche or designer! Layton, Herod, Habdan & Pegasus Exclusif are my top 4 frags from the house in that exact order. Steven has always been one of THE best YouTube fragrance reviewers when it comes to breaking down a fragrance and giving you the true essence of how that scent will come off and because of that I have bought a few frags that were blind buys cuz of how well Steven breaks down a fragrances scent Profile/DNA which obviously makes you feel that you have to have that particular fragrance right away! So in regards to the Harrod’s release of HALTANE, I do enjoy frags with praline in them especially when they’re accompanied by woody notes such as Cedar and then that Saffron with the Oud to top it off, really sounds up my alley and again it is PDM I mean come on. Being that this is a PDM fragrance, I would definitely get a decant of it either way cuz there’s really only been 2 frags from that house that I just didn’t like. They just put out such amazing smelling fragrances and based on the notes and the fact that Steven said that the longevity & projection for HALTANE was Beast Mode definitely intrigues me even more. Whether I win this giveaway or not, like I said I will definitely be buying a decant of it anyways. I’m always eager to try any new releases from PDM and since this one was an exclusive release to Harrod’s definitely has me wanting it even more, so to say that I’m intrigued would be an understatement actually! Big Shoutout to Steven with Redolessence on yet another stellar review and also to Cafleurebon for giving us the opportunity to win a free bottle, on I’m sure another superb fragrance from the one & only Parfums de Marly….my fave!! Thank you!!!

  • Darren Donahue says:

I generally match up with Steven’s fragrance likes to the point of several expensive blind buys based on his reviews.
I am a big fan of PDM and I need to get a bottle of this to match me smile’in Irish Eyes

  • Great review! I love Steven’s ability to describe the notes. I feel like I’m getting a little tour of the fragrance each time. Cheers from NC, USA!

    Also, I follow the Instagram!

  • I always appreciate Steven’s reviews, always thoroughly informative. His description along with the notes sounds right for me, unique , strong and long-lasting. Looking forward to trying this one.

  • NotesOfShpilkus says:

As with many of Steven’s reviews, I appreciate how he differentiated how the same notes will show up in different fragrances. He said that Haltane’s praline note is similar to the prailine in Paco Rabbane’s Black XS. That’s super helpful because I love the praline note there! Keep making great content, Steven and Michelyn! My favorite Parfums de Marly is easily Layton Exclusif. That was my first exposure to oud and now I can’t get enough of it!

Parfums de Marley is my favorite house. I am excited to get my nose on this fragrance! Great video by Steven as always. I love how he describes fragrances and now, I’m even more excited to try it!

  • Brandon Meeks says:

Oajan fam in the house !! Would love to get my nose on this one ..also a fam of a Layton

  • Dimitri R, says:

I am a huge fan of PDM fragrances and I already own Carlisle , Herod and Percival. All three are beast mode and crazy compliment getters. I actually wanted to buy this fragrance and was willing to pay whatever the price may be, but it was sold out everywhere for a while since first released. I heard that the smell is somewhat similar to Oud for Greatness by Initio , but I am a PDM die heart fan, so was willing to wait till it’s available to buy it.

  • LZDfresh says:

What an impeccable review by Steve at Redolessense, always a delight to hear his point of view and hear his passion come through. I could almost smell this fragrance through his description. With that said, I don’t think I have a favorite PDM since they’re all so great. I do however enjoy Pegasus, Layton, Herod and Godolphin Great collaboration and good luck to all readers!

  • Eli Chisley III says:

Sounds like another hit from PDM. Can’t wait to sample it And get a whiff of this praline thats been talked about.

  • Steven has always been my go-to youtuber for honest fragrance reviews. Haltane sounds fabulous! The fact he mentions how the darkness mixes with the sweetness in a great way is what I really like in fragrances. I’ve tried almost every Parfums de Marly except this one as it was kinda hard to come by. Anyway, I’m sure its a fantastic fragrance like every other PdM. Thank you so much, Parfums de Marly, for holding this generous giveaway, and good luck to everyone!

Excellent review Steven & Michelyn!!! ❤️❤️ I really appreciate Steven’s note descriptions & framing within the fragrance world! I feel like I can “place” Haltane. ❤️ I really like the JCE quote from Michelyn’s interview!!! My favorite PDM scent is probably Delina La Rosee (that I discovered from a brilliant set of recommendations by Nir at Perfumology – everyone should check them out, great shop!) ❤️ Thank you for this opportunity! USA

  • Michael I Morgan says:

Great video with attention to detail and vivid description of the fine quality of Parfums De Marly. My favorite De Marly is Layton and Greenly it’s just too hard to name one. I am the greatest promoter of fine scents.

  • roblexky says:

Another great review from Steven. I love how he breaks down the notes to help you imagine the actual smell of the fragrance. Praline sounds like an interesting addition. My favorite from the house is Layton. Thanks for the giveaway. USA

  • Johan Ventura says:

I love parfums de Marly Fragrances, I own pegasus and Layton. Great fragrances.

  • Great review! Can’t wait to get a sample of that. As for favorite PDM, I’m torn between Herod & Carlisle. Expecting a bottle of Percival on Saturday to deploy as my Spring go to.

  • Michele Benedict says:

This fragrance sounds DIVINE! The longevity and projection sound fantastic. So far everything I’ve sampled from Parfums de Marly has been nothing short of AHHHMazing. This bottle is very classy and elegant.

  • Ty Funchess says:

This note breakdown looks interesting, I’ve heard this is similar to OFG in some ways. Would love to see how similar they actually are!

  • Jason Steckley says:

PDM makes some top notch scents. I love Herod, Sedley, Godolphin, Galloway, and a few others. I got a sample of Haltane from Buck at BBB and it’s by far my favorite!

  • Michael K says:

I’ve been super excited about this release! Thank you Steven for reviewing Haltane. I’ve read about the similarities to Oud for greatness and I’m glad you clarified that it can distinguish itself from it. Also I have added a follow on Instagram.

  • Dwayne Bell says:

Great review iv always loved fragrances, but now im starting to get deeper into them and learning more understanding there are levels to the fragrance world im interested to see how this smells

  • hshinkoda says:

I simply love Parfums de Marly!!!! After watching Steven’s review I was sold!!!! Haltane is unique, long lasting and I love saffron in fragrances… I do own Herod and Oriana… I agree that there’s no gender for perfumes… Haltane is right up my alley!!!! I’m from Massachusetts, US.

  • Dean Thanos says:

    Lovely review.
    Thanks for providing great content.
Not having smelled this offering, naturally I live to win a free bottle.
    Fingers crossed.

  • As a long-time PARFUM de MARLY & Redolessence subscriber. I must admit that this presentation for HALTANE was well executed from the amazing note break down to the description. So much so that I would highly recommend this fragrance to family and friends based on my personal experience with this fragrance. I do appreciate this opportunity for this special giveaway as much as I appreciate PARFUM de MARLY. Thank you much love from NYC!

  • I love the sound of this fragrance! And I’m very intrigued by the praline note. Love how Steven describes it as having a good balance sweet and spicy… Definitely sounds like my kind of scent. I love so many of Parfums De Marly’s fragrances but my favorite has to be Herrod. I look forward to trying Haltane.

  • Glad that this new exclusive scent is now more widely available. I really want to try the saffron-praline notes in here. Never had the chance to try PDM fragrances and this would be a great introduction! Would love to enter the giveaway drawings!

  • Mario Ortiz says:

PDM is my favorite house Carlisle, Layton, and Pegasus are my big three, would love to know how this one smells. Awesome review.

  • John Capicchioni says:

I have never been able to try your fragrances but owning almost a hundred I’m hoping to win this fragrance to celebrate leaving the military. Thank you for allowing me to have the opportunity to learn and experience this outstanding house

  • Jose Posadas says:

I really like the very unique and powerful fragrances that Parfums de Marley makes. I would really like to get a chance to smell this new Haltane fragrance in person because this new green and gold bottle looks awesome.

  • Kenneth Oh says:

The bottle and color look visually pleasing…
I would love to have one in my collection.

  • Steven was my introduction into fragrances. His reviews are always a go to where I can get quality information about a fragrance. Keep them coming!

  • Jorge Cervantes says:

I liked how Steven did compare it to Oud For Greatness but didn’t say that they are basically the same which a lot of reviewers have said. It definitely has its own take but it could also just be me defending it since PDM is my favorite fragrance house. Hope I win need it in collection.

  • I love Stevens reviews .Very honest and detailed in his descriptions as if you can almost imagine the smell of the Fragrance! He is my most reliable source when it comes to fragrances. My favorite is de Marley Layton. I get a lot of compliments and it’s just a very smooth , elegant and classy fragrance . Absolutely beautiful .

  • MonicaValenz says:

I’m really curious how this perfume smells, I liked how Redolessence review mentioned it’s sweet but dark, I love Delina and it’s sweet smell and longevity, I only own the travel size of Delina. But I also love dark and deep perfumes, and Redolessence said it’s long long lasting. I love to share my perfumes with my husband, unisex perfumes are not like your average Joe and I like perfumes that stand out. I love that’s it is exclusive to Harrods. I wish I lived in New York to see that launch party. Unfortunately I live in California. It would be awesome to win a bottle! 🙂

  • Matt Miller says:

I really want to try this fragrance! Steven always does a great job with his descriptions, and he has made me need to get this!

  • PDM has a great fragrence and lasts all day much better than any other fragrances I own and for that it is my top 1 favorite fragrance.

  • Theenzofdaworld says:

Lovely review Steven! The spices in this sound divine – Saffron and Lavender are my favorite and the woods in here sound like they tie it all together. Favorite PdM frag so far has been Oajan neck and neck with Layton, but this could be a contender!

  • Very interested in this fragrance, especially the sweet praline note! Excellent review by Steven, as always.

  • Omar Cortez says:

I really liked the note breakdown on Steven’s review on Haltane and the way it is described as nearly falling into its own lane, dark and sweet but not as dark as Herod or Carlisle, yes compared to Pegasus and more. There is no such thing as a favorite perfume from Parfumes de Marley for me, I rather love them all or none at all.

  • Omar Cortez says:

  • Spencer Mills says:

I would love to receive this fragrance, as I’m a huge fan of PDM. Great video!

  • Jonas Lee says:

I love those sweet woody scents and I always try something new from PD. I would love to try this.

  • Patrick Ellis says:

This is a house that I’ve been wanting to try since I’ve first heard about them. Parfums De Marly seems like an awesome entry way to niche fragrances/parfumerie.

  • IvanVelikov says:

When I think Parfums de Marly , I always think Pegasus . Sure PdM do have all kinds of quality fragrances like Oajan , Herod , Layton , Greenley , the Exclusif stars , and now Haltane, still I do not get how regular Pegasus is getting so little attention. As much as I like the other I’ve mentioned , my 125ml bottle of Pegasus I cherish most. Smells fantastic , lasts over 10 hours on skin , and projects beyond strong – fills up a room. Compliments galore too.
Being in tailoring business, I would wear Haltane while working with clients at the shop , and also going out clubbing.
Classy , dress to impress bespoke suit type of fragrance. Praline-saffron-oud accord is tickling my fancy even more
Two heads are better than one , if they are helping each other, i was looking for Michelyn opinion on Haltane.
Parfums de Marly created a special fragrance, I’m sure.
I so want to win a bottle, thank you Steven, Michelyn, Parfums de Marly

Great note breakdown as always. Gourmand and woody notes with excellent longevity? Right up my alley.

The only PDM I own currently is Habdan, and I have my eye on either Carlisle or Layton next.

Love Steven’s reviews. When he said “You don’t have to reapply it at lunch”. I felt that in the depths of my soul.

Layton is my favorite from the great house of Parfums de Marly.

  • Charlton Nguyen says:

I recently tried to buy a PDK Parfum fragrance from Maxaroma, I, unfortunately, got a fake fragrance where it smelled cheap and synthetic had to return it, and got disappointed with their company. I saw this and thought I’d leave a comment in hopes to win a free bottle. This fragrance seems sophisticated and I hope I win lol. Thanks for the review!

  • Scott Teague says:

PDM fragrances alway smell unique to me. I love their bottle designs and colors. The sillage is excellent on almost all of their fragrances. Can’t wait to try this one! Thanks for the giveaway!!

  • Great review by Steven, definitely appreciate his scent breakdown. I got a sample of Haltane from Lucky Scent in their spring sampler and it is my current favorite!

  • fcasimiro says:

Great note listing and lovely bottle. Sounds like another winner from PDM. Love the fact that Steven mentions that it’s long lasting and not too sweet. Definitely one to be put on my radar!

Steven is always very thorough with his review and always trust his opinion on fragrances. That praline note sounds interesting.

  • Luis Cedillo says:

Honestly I am a Fan of Parfums de Marly, I love the quality of the components, I am very curious to know this new fragrance. I hope I can win this giveaway.

  • Brian Braverman says:

Parfums De Marly is my favorite house. Very appealing to the masses, but unique enough for the experienced connoisseur. I agree with Michelyn Camen’s quote that fragrances are to shared by all. Hense, the reason why my wife gives me a look when I spray her fragrances on myself. I just enjoy all fragrances.

  • Steven kept mentioning the praline and saffron, which sounds like an amazing and unique fragrance. And I’m thrilled to hear this has incredible longevity. I have never been disappointed with any PdM fragrances. I was introduced to the line in 2019 when my boyfriend visited Harrods while in London and he brought back Layton Exclusif. I fell in love with the brand – the quality and longevity was nothing like I had ever experienced before. I now also own Delina Exclusif and plan to purchase Carlisle. Haltane may actually push Carlisle out of the way. I’m so happy it is now available in the US and no longer exclusive to Harrods. I just may have to make an impulse buy of Haltane without testing first. It sounds just that good!
    I live in the USA.

  • Navidnamadi says:

Really excited about this one, parfumes de marly always works with my taste, just yesterday I bought a bottle of shagya, hidden gem lime and oud really nice!!! Can’t wait for haltane

  • Parfums De Marly is the best brand on the market as all of their creations are opulent rich and beast mode, what else do we need… Despite i have not tried Haltane yet ,it cannot disappoint based on the notes i know it is gonna be one of their best.

  • theuntitled says:

I have a 20 ml decant of Carlisle. I save it for special occasions only. In his review, Steven mentioned that Haltane has notes of Saffron and Praline. I have never put my nose on either of these notes. I am also curious about the oud. I have extensively used oud attars from Abdul Karim al Faransi but I have never smelled Oud in a western fragrance. Hence, will be delighted to win a bottle of Haltane. Thank you, Steven for the review and this generous giveaway. Love from West Lafayette, USA.

  • anfeorji says:

Omg this fragance sounds stunning, i would love to put my no in this, what i enjoy the most from Steven’s review is that he assured at least 10 hours of performance and also the similarity with initio oud for greatness which i love…good luck to me……

I was so waiting for Haltane review on Cafleurebon
Just WOW at the level of complexity , sweet, spicy , woody . I like there’s nothing overbearing, but the blend is really smooth , future classic I would like to explore.
Love both of my Delina bottles , I mean i have the regular one for a long time, and Exclusif version for around a year now .
I also bought Byerley as a gift for dad’s birthday, and he absolutely loves it.
My favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance is Delina Exclusive
Haltane i believe is spontaneous , and unpredictable , fragrance i’d absolutely love to win

I feel like Parfums de Marly is a lot like Steven; they just don’t miss. Always solid, classy, and never let you down. I’ve never smelled this one but have enjoyed many PDM fragrances over my time within the fragrance community. Out of the ones I’ve tried, I would have to say that Layton is my favorite. Would love the opportunity to try Haltane so thanks, as always, for the opportunity!

I love how in depth Steven’s review was. In a time when blind buying fragrance has become the norm, it’s super helpful to hear expert reviews like Steven’s to help give an idea of how the fragrance smells when we can’t get our noses on it before buying.
PDM is one of my favorite fragrance houses with Sedbury being my favorite so far. Pegasus is a close second. I’m really excited that Haltane is getting a wide release and would absolutely love to win this fragrance!

  • I’ve been waiting to buy this fragrance. Perfumes de Marly never disappoints!

  • I am a Redolessence subscriber and enjoyed this review of Parfums de Marly Haltane by Steven. Wow – Parfums de Marly Haltane has all the notes that I love, starting with oud, of course, and then vetiver, musk, leather, patchouli, bergamot, clary sage, cedarwood, and saffron. Deep, dark, uplifting, and calming at the same time. My favorite Parfums de Marly perfume is Layton Exclusif and I would try more if the prices didn’t break the bank. So thank you for this very generous draw and excellent review by Steven – I like that Steven describes it so well from start to finish, and also which weather and on what occasions it would be most appropriate to wear. Would be lovely to be able to see these perfume launches online, for those who are not in New York, or wherever they are being launched from. I am in the USA.

  • Joseph Morell says:

    Love Redolessence …

    Been watching for years

Love how he breaks down the notes and I always go with his recommendations….

Perfumes de marly is my favorite fragrance

I have Layton Herod and Percival … this would make a great addition to my collection

    Thanks so much

  • According to the list of notes for this fragrance, I believe that I would like it. I still haven’t tried anything yet from this company, even though I’ve heard of them many times- I’d like to try their collected works. I enjoy hearing about a fragrance which I believe I would like and that it has good overall performance. I appreciate Steven’s fragrance reviews. I follow Cafleurebon on Instagram (@regismonkton). I live in the U.S.A.

  • Alexander Rozakis-Siu says:

PdM has quickly become my absolute favourite house in the entire fragrance world. The way they create unique yet mass pleasing scents that last is just astonishing. Due to Covid I wasn’t able to travel to the UK in the past year so I had no chance to try this fragrance. Winning in this give a way would make me a happy happy man especially after hearing Stevens review. Good luck to all participants!

  • Abdallahalhindi says:

I am a big fan of PDM , would love to try it, because I love ❤️ oud note perfumes , thank you for the video.

  • Parfums de Marly has beautiful collection! My favourites are Delina and aLayton !!
This sounds beautiful and with nice and interesting contrasts!
    Looking forward to test.

  • I love how Steven’s video describes this as a darker fragrance, more suited for special occasions. Now that things are starting to open up, I would enjoy a bottle of Haltane to accompany me in these events.

  • I just got into fragrances. I haven’t purchased any niche fragrances yet. I have my eye on a few parfumes de marly fragrances. I would love for this to be my first.

  • I’ve always enjoyed Steve’s style of fragrance note breakdowns in his reviews as well as the whole wearing experience. My current favorites from PDM are Herod, Layton and Carlisle in that order. Thank you for the review and kind giveaway. I’m following @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram as @sngashig and I’m in USA.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Haltane sounds like a winner, right up my alley. The way Steven describes it , it’s like I can almost smell it. I have Herod, Percival and my favorite, Oajan. LOOK foward to sampling this one and thanks for doing giveaway.

  • I have Black XS and the praline note has always intrigued me. I would love to see how it is applied in Haltane. As always a great review from Steven. Even if I don’t win the giveaway I definitely plan to get my hands on a decant.

    Best of luck everyone!

  • GennyLeigh says:

I’ve enjoyed almost all of the Parfums de Marly fragrances I’ve tried. Haltane sounds like a lovely woody gourmand with the herbs, saffron and praline notes. Great description, Steve! MD, USA.

  • PDM puts out some quality fragrances. First time hearing of Haltane. Sounds nice. When I first saw the bottle I assumed a green and citrus type fragrance. Enjoyed the review, Thanks

  • Dwayne J says:

What stood out from Steven’s review? I quote…” If you spray it on at 7 in the morning, it’s going to go strong until like 5 PM at night”

  • Honestly, I’m very excited about this launch. I love anything with saffron top notes, but I’m mostly excited about the crowd-pleasing agarwood. Although I’m no stranger to oud that leads more animalic, this being softer makes it a great gift for father’s day coming up. I can’t wait to smell it soon! Layton is my #1 favorite PDM fragrance, but reading these notes, this could be a close second or take the spot.

  • Frederick Schmidt says:

I have small samples of every PARFUMS de MARLY wide bottle fragrance. Haltane smells so rich and sophisticated. It also combines that PDM DNA that we all love. It’s definitely one of my favorites. I would love to own a full bottle to be enjoyed on the most special of occasions.

  • Andrew DiPaola says:

Hey Steven, great review per usual. Ever since Haltane released last year, I was very intrigued by it. The bottle color is gorgeous, and I love the brand of Parfums de Marly. I currently own eight of their offerings and would love to add this to my collection. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

  • DoBravery says:

I loved Steven’s review because I know Parfums de Marly’s fragrances very well, and was able to follow his journey of contrasts and comparisons. I own a sample of each–even the not so popular ones. I’ve smelled Haltane, and it’s MARVELOUS! Alas, my sample has but a few sprays left.
I own Herod. I consider it the best of the more popular tobacco rich fragrances. If I have trouble acquiring Haltane in the US, my next PDM will be Habdan. I think Habdan is masterful, and very under-appreciated.
    I’m an IG follower. @dobravery
    Cheers!

  • I like the consistency, structure, and overall quality, I started recently with fragrances, so I don’t have a favorite PDM, haven’t even smelled one yet, going by his description I’d like to try Haltane.

Based on his recommendations I’ve gotten a few bottles now and I love them

  • Johnmc500 says:

    Love the bergamot and oud.
Can’t wait to get my nose on this one.
    Sounds like another signature scent.

  • Liviu Dedes says:

Love the House of Marley. Always consistent reviews. My wife flipped when I picked up a bottle of Layton, until she experienced it. All was forgiven. Would love to experience Haltane!

  • As always Steven’s reviews are always detailed. Steven really liked this fragrance, dark and complex with a hint of sweetness but not as sweet as Carlisle and also long lasting. Praline accord doesn’t dominate the fragrance and the saffron gives it a leathery touch with a woody appeal in the base. My favorite Parfums de Marly thus far is Kalan.
    Greetings from Maryland, US.

  • Constantine says:

Never tried a parfums de Marley but this one def looks interesting! I like the presentation with the green and all, love sweet fragrances, and I personally like that it’s a special event type fragrance cause I only really wear fragrances on special events or else I’ll feel like it’s a waste sometimes. Lastly, love your channel and cw to see what the future holds!

  • Nazar Mandziuk says:

I was dragged into the Niche world with PdM Layton which was one of my first fragrance acquisitions and till now I liked mostly all PdM (except Kalan), so I’m definitely interested in try out of this new release, at least notes breakdown seems to be interesting.

  • Marcus Baumgardner says:

I think that Parfums de Marley are amazing. I’m just getting started adding them to my collection. Steven’s descriptions are on point. And he has me very curious about this one. It could end up being my favorite!

  • Brian Palmer says:

Stephen, I’ve been enjoying your reviews for years, but this is the first time that I’m leaving a comment. I was intrigued by this fragrance when you talked about its balance between fresh and dark. Thank you for the opportunity to win a bottle!

  • Theodore says:

The best Oud fragrance from the house. Also the colour of the bottle gives me a feeling of spirituality, growth and Christmas.

  • I loked Michelyn’s and Steven’s introductions!!
Sounds very interesting, more even I love leather notes.
And I love PDM very much- for example Oajan, Layton.
    US

  • I had the opportunity to try this out and Steven wonderfully described how Haltane smells, how long it lasts, and its versatility. He gave a good a comparison with other PDM fragrances to give a good idea on what you’ll get with this new one. Haltane not only smells good, but it will also last forever. I sprayed some on a test strip and a week later it still smelled strong. Can’t wait to pick one up and share the scent with everyone everywhere I go!

  • Steven always gives the best descriptions and reviews, and he makes Haltane sound so desirable. It sounds like it lasts a long time and enjoyed his comparison with other PDM fragrances to help describe what you’ll get with this one. Hope to win a bottle and try it myself!

  • Uncle1979 says:

Steven as a Classically trained in Paris Pastry Chef , i’d like to say “Praline” is an ambiguous term even in Europe’s more conservative culinary schools.
I won’t get into too much of a details, Cafleurebon is fragrance and not culinary blog , but to over simplify- for the most part for Europeans, pralines usually involve chocolate, specifically chocolate filled with a paste made of hazelnuts or other wonderful confectionery mixtures.
But for most of those , who’ve enjoyed Pralines from the U.S. , especially the state of Louisiana, and other southern states , this candy is primary a melted blend of sugars, butter and almost all the time pecans.
The taste and the flavor differs very much, and that’s exactly what stimulating my Pastry Chef imagination at the moment What kind of praline accord was blended into Haltane.
Parfums de Marly became a top notch brand in such a short period of time , one of the best out there, to my taste of course.
Steven take on Haltane made me think of, other than the different perceptions in Europe and US of praline , but also of Chocolate Praline and Saffron Crêpe Cake I do on private orders only. I imagined eating the cake, while on a picnic in the woods.
I have a really good feeling about Haltane
Personally I know Parfums de Marly for Herod first , Makes me feel like I’m THE king of the castle.
It’s a toss up for me between Herod and Oajan, for my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance.
Appreciate the review , and the giveaway campaign

Steven is a school teacher, and it shows when he reviews any fragrance. This one is no different. It is the note breakdown of this fragrance that is so intriguing to me! Agarwood, saffron, the citruses, everything I love in a scent. I’d be so grateful to be the proud winner of this new creation!

  • I have 2 fragrances of this brand ! It’s Layton and Herod absolutely love the scenes ! And of course looking forward to win this on guy ! Good luck to everyone! ))

  • Thanks Michelyn and Steven for your descriptions.
Love PdM and this perfume sounds beautiful. Very interesting ingredients. Only do not like clary sage not.
    Love Layton very much.

Being a vain man compliments are really important to me.
Haltane with its leather, spices, oud , and moderate sweetness , for sure will get me unsolicited compliments , smelling amazing.
Oajan is my favorite Parfums de Marly, it’s full , balsamic sweet , one of my favorites . Early spring I bought another 125ml bottle, it’s quite clear how much I love it.
Other than Haltane, I’ll make sure to sample Initio Oud for Greatness, I’m curious about the comparisons between the two
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

I love the presentation on this. The green and gold give me Kingsman vibes. I’ve heard nothing but great things about PDM. I haven’t been financially able to pick one up yet, but I can’t wait until I’m able to.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Steven’s YouTube review of Parfums de Marly Haltane. It sounds like it has that alluring sweetness with a dominant praline along with a spicy and leathery saffron and a woody base. It sounds very distinctive and unique with noteworthy performance. I am so happy to learn about this newer release and Harrod’s exclusive. My favorite fragrance from Parfums De Marly is Kalan. I am following @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram @michaelprincefragrance I am from the USA.

  • vichdeza says:

I have been interés in this fragrance since I learned it was being launched. Importing it would have been too expensive, however.
I loved how Steven described the fragrance, how it’s sweet, but not overwhelming. He convinced me to pass by the PDM boutique next time I’m downtown.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I really appreciated Steven’s review. He verbalized the notes he was able to smell in the fragrance, and had very good enthusiasm for this offering from Patfums de Marly, using such terms as, “dynamic, enigmatic, and exotic”. But he had my nose watering, when he spoke about the contrast between the darkness and sweetness , as I am anticipating nothing but olfactory goodness.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA, and my IG is: @Brygantor_1.

  • Great giveaway by a great channel! Thank you for the opportunity, the generosity is insane! Also, great breakdown in the video. Never owned a parfums de Marley, sounds pretty good though!

  • I liked how Steven described the praline note in this fragrance, which I find to be a unique note in perfumery. I love PDM fragrances, my favorite is Carlisle with Herod as a close second. I follow Cafleurbon on IG.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the great review Steven.

Love the presentation on this. I like how the praline and the saffron play together in this fragrance, expressing the leather nuances of the fragrance.

I also liked how you mentioned the versatility of this brand vs going back to its roots.

    Great positive review.

    My favourite PdM is Nisean.

    Cheers

  • The new Parfums de Marly Haltane is refined transitional weather fragrance ,
I own Oud for Greatness , considered by many the best one in Initio Parfums catalog , and I’m sure I’ll also enjoy Haltane . The first is formal occasions only fragrance , the way i wear it at least, but the Haltane relative with praline sweetness i think is more versatile, and easy to wear , from day time family gatherings , to going out with friends , or weddings .Long lasting fragrances are always welcome , and I think all Initio/Parfums de Marly fall in the same category , even fresher ones.
Parfums de Marly non-transparent, and transparent bottles look super classy , including Haltane . I like the deep green color, and the contrast with the golden cap.Call me perfectionist, but bottle design, looks and the way it feels, are all important to me.
Oajan is my favorite Parfums de Marly , but Delina Exclusif is breathing in Oajan neck all the time. Both are staples for me.
    Thanks for the draw

PDM was the first niche house I ever bought from. Layton is definitely my favorite. I can’t wait to smell haltane.

  • I always enjoy a Steven’s review and this one was so interesting, because of the notes and development of the fragrance. A sweet fragrance, with dark phases and praline being dominent sound really amazing. Would to smell it and have it my own as I love PDM scents, Oriana being my favorite one.
    USA here.

  • Just saw Steven’s (Redolessence) video about Haltane, sounds amazing. Aoud and Saffron are two of my favorite notes. As a black women its hard finding and affording niche fragrances but I’m fortunate to have Herod which is my current favorite. I would love to add Haltane to my collection!

  • jaysmells says:

Let me tell you I am SO excited for this fragrance, even if so many in the fragrance community are disappointed by the more mass-appealing nature of Haltane, or whether it is comparable to other fragrances or not. I appreciate Steven describing that Haltane is not necessarily the most versatile, but is surely for a standout personality, fancy event, winter day, yet could even pass in an office environment. I similarly love the presentation, the gold cap sets this bottle apart from so many other PDM releases. Importantly, I am so fascinated by the praline in this fragrance—a burst of sweetness swimming within a woody and even leathery/spicy body is very alluring. Steven does mention the darkness mixed with the sweetness of Haltane makes this somewhat comparable to Oud for Greatness, but I appreciate that he clarifies this to be a distinct fragrance. So excited for this release! My favorite Parfums de Marly fragrances are Layton, Carlisle, and Delina—I think Haltane would round out my PDM collection very nicely! Thank you for this giveaway and review!

Thank you CaFleureBon and Redolessence for another collaboration.

The thing that really stands out regarding this offering from Parfums de Marly is the complex sweetness, especially the praline. I was intrigued when Steven described the praline as “not overly sweet” as well as “dark and complex.” As a gourmand lover this drew me in and really makes me hungry for more, if you will. I also really love saffron as a note, not just in perfumery, but in cooking as well!

The longevity also stands out, as do all PDM compositions. It is nice when a perfume stays with you throughout the entire day! The note of agarwood is also interesting and the way it is described by Steven, it really seems to provide a backbone to this composition.

I really appreciate the versatility of this fragrance and am thankful that it is now more readily available for the “Average Joe”.

To answer the question, my favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance is “Pegasus.”

    Thanks again,

  • Just watched Steven’s PDM Haltane review. Always exiting to hear about another PDM. Sounds like a great one.

  • Jesus Lagos says:

Very informative review. I also agree with Michelyn Camen when it comes to labeling perfumes as unisex. I love Parfums de Marly and it’s my favorite niche line. My favorite Parfums de Marly is Layton with Kalan easily being my second favorite. I even have a backup bottle in case it’s ever scrapped.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Michelyn is on point saying that Parfums de Marly is one of the most beloved niche brands out there, and each and every new release creates a buzz into the fragrance community.

“I have not smelled Haltane yet, but Steven thinks it leans masculine, (although to quote Maitre Parfumeur Jean Claude Ellena in an interview I did awhile back, “I do not use words like unisex, I prefer to say to be shared perfumes are for everybody and for each of us)– Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief”

Awesome quote, but let’s not forget the way Parfums de Marly are promoting Haltane themselves:

“Haltane is a fragrance for a gentleman of today, inspired by the gentilhommes of the Chateau de Marly in the 18th century.”

I have sampled / smelled each and every fragrance from both Parfims De Marly , and Initio Parfums portfolios , two brands under the same umbrella, and my opinion of Haltane is both similar, but also in a way slightly different, compared to what Steven is getting.
No doubt complex , well composed dressed up occasions fragrance, but to me Haltane is more of a classically structured woody aromatic, with slightly sweet undertones. I don’t get any sweetness in the opening, but blast of lavender, sage and zesty bergamot .
The magic to me happens in the heart and base , when Haltane transforms into a gorgeous safran leather, cedar, resins and vetiver combination, with slightly sweet chocolaty patchouli lurking in the background.
Not the same fragrances of course, but if you’re familiar with Parfums de Marly and Initio Parfums fragrances, you’ll immediately get certain level of familiarity, especially the Oud for Greatness comparison.
Oud for Happiness comparison some people made , is a bit of a reach to me , but the vetiver in Haltane , the resins and cedar slightly reminded me of Byerley, the most masculine fragrance in my opinion, in Parfums de Marly catalog.
My favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance is by far Habdan – it’s UNREAL how good it is…to me at least.I’ll never get rid of it …no way.One of my all time favorite fragrances , and to me the the most underrated Parfums de Marly.

  • I’m still a rank novice when it comes to larger fragrance houses—most of my experience is with small American perfumers (shout-out to Dave at American Perfumer). I’ve been digging leathers lately, and I love clary sage as a note in other fragrances, so this one is very intriguing. Stephen, thanks for breaking down the praline note here a little bit—I didn’t know exactly what to expect based on the scent notes. I’m also happy to hear this one has endurance; I like a single pray in the morning and enjoy fragrances that endure long enough to evolve throughout the day. Thanks for the review!

Very compelling review Steven! What I enjoyed about Steven’s YouTube review is learning about how the praline note in Haltane compares with other niche fragrances with strong praline notes, such as BDK Velvet Tonka. I really appreciate Steven’s thorough breakdowns of notes and his almost encyclopedic knowledge of other comparable fragrances, as I am constantly wondering how different fragrances compare to the many I already have. And I was also intrigued to learn that the very commonly sweet and overpowering praline note is actually extremely well balanced here, not dominating and lifted up by green herbal notes and a smooth intense leathery saffron. It sounds like an absolutely stunning fragrance.

My favorite Parfums de Marly fragrance so far is Herod. I am following your new Instagram page @cafleruebonoffical and my Insta name is momo.liu.121. I am also a Redolessence subscriber. I live in the US.

  • durantsearcy says:

I’m already intrigued because I am a fan of Parfums De Marley. My favorites are Kalan and Delina, which both give me longevity. So, I’m definitely interested in a fragrance that claims to linger for 24 hours. That is right up my alley because I hate reapplying my fragrances. Praline is one of my favorite notes, but I don’t think I’ve experienced it in a niche fragrance. I have so many, but I’ve never smelled that note in my niche collection. I could be wrong. I like my fragrances to beat me in a room I’m about to walk in, and linger when I’m gone so I’m excited to try it because many I know will not have it. Steve described the fragrance in a way that would make any person interested in trying it. Subscribed.

It’s not cheap a 4.2 ml bottle for $420 and that’s why I’m hoping I win this free bottle here! They reminded us why they are a niche house with Haltane!
