One of the fragrances at the NY Elements Showcase that Managing Editor Mark Behnke thought was noteworthy was Bond No. 9 Manhattan. My first thought was since the Company is famous for creating fragrant homages to NYC neighborhoods I would be interested in how they would interpret the whole city.
As a follow-up to my experience at Robertet with their raw materials and my review of Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme and Vetiver Fatal I wanted to close the loop so to speak. To do this I went Behind the Bottle with Robertet Senior Perfumer Jerome Epinette and asked him about the raw materials he used to create these fragrances.
It becomes harder and harder for me to recommend mainstream fragrances as they all seem to coalesce into a fruity floral mass of similarity. I think Edition manages to stand out from that crowd
Detaille offers a wide range of fragrances in both Eau de Toilette and classic cologne concentrations. I was fortunate to experience many of the EDTs which comprise the full collection of five feminine fragrances and five masculines.
One of my favorite discontinued fragrances is Absinthe by Slatkin & Co. by Christophe Laudamiel (given to me by Chandler Burr) before Harry and Laura Slatkin sold the company to Limited Brands in 2005. Nest debuts Amazon Lily, Passiflora and Midnight Fleur
