Hedione was originally used by fragrance company Firmenich© in the early 1960s as an alternative to jasmine absolute and was first used in perfumery by the great Edmond Roudnitska in 1966 when he created  Dior’s Eau Sauvage. The science journal NeuroImage published a study in which Hedione was found to stimulate the limbic areas of the brain in women which are responsible for the release of pheromones. In other words, the scent of Hedione might drive women crazy. Maybe that’s why Initio Parfums Privés Narcotic Delight is in the Carnal Blends collection?-Michelyn

    I’ve been absolutely excited about this release. It had me at Cognac because I’m a sucker for boozy fragrances. I love Side Effect so I’m glad this was is similar but different, according to Steven. Mr. Jaqueline mentioned “intoxicating” so I already know I need this one.

    I do remember when I first heard of Initio Privés fragrances back in 2017.

    I was obsessed about acquiring Absolute Aphrodisiac.

    Nowadays I have more than one, and more than two Initio fragrances.

    Steven mentioned in his review that this is similar, or at least in the same lane of Side Effect; and I love that specific fragrance.

    And now that a new one from Initio privés is coming out, I cant wait to put my hands, and my nose on it.

    This sounds like an amazing fragrance. I’m curious how the notes of cognac, cherry and tobacco (my favorite) bring this scent to life. I also really enjoy how the note of hedione draws in the opposite sex. Both Steven and Mr. Jacqueline did an amazing job of putting this one on everyone’s radar.     OMG, it’s finally out. The hedione note is truly what sets this series apart from the rest. Cherry is having a moment in fragrances and Initio didn’t want to be left behind. Love the name as well. This sounds like a flirty, night out type of fragrance and perfect for the current weather here (winter). I was discussing how Initio hadn’t launched anything recently and here it is. Vanilla is my favorite note still so I’m happy it’s also present here with the cognac. This sounds like a hit already.     Steven stated this offering might eclipse Side Effect in impact and appeal. The description Monsieur Jacqueline added to this article was quite heady…definitely has me intrigued. I’ve always been intersted in Initio Parfums fragrances but have only tried Atomic Rose, which was a little too feminine for my tastes.     Notes of tobacco, cherry, and cognac overdosed with Hedione? Wow! Sounds good to me. I’ve been blessed to have met Yvan Jacqueline at the PDM boutique in Beverly Hills. I like what Yvan says “Each note is a provocative caress, an invitation to indulge in the euphoria of the senses.”

    I like Steven’s description of Hedione. Never know the affects this has in the brain. I’m glad Steven said that the cherry note is in the background and not upfront. Will this be a a rival to Side Affect? I guess we’ll see.

    The review was very thorough. It painted a good picture of the journey that this fragrance takes you on. I love what initio brings and can hopefully win the giveaway to test this one out. It sounds like it’s right up my alley. Sweet fragrances with depth are some of my favorite. Mr Jacqueline’s intro makes this fragrance sound even more interesting. He did a fantastic job describing the fragrance. I know it made me want it even more! I feel like this one is going to be a stunning fragrance. The cognac note excites me because boozy notes are in my top 3 fragrance notes. I live in the US

    I had no idea hedione had such an effect! If the NeuroImage study found hedione liable to “stimulate the limbic areas of the brain in women which are responsible for the release of pheromones”, might not it be the men, then, who would be driven crazy?     From the written introduction I now have high expectations should I ever smell this fragrance. From the video I learned the hedione is supposed to trigger the pleasure centers of the brain. US

    Mr. Jaqueline’s intro – What stands out to me, and why I appreciate this intro is his use of the phrase “ignites the imagination.” I have not had the chance to smell this particular fragrance yet; however, I love side effect, and while I do not believe those two fragrances will be alike, I do believe this description works for side effect as well and makes me want Narcotic Delight even more.

    Steven’s video – the description of the notes, the intro of vanilla and cognac with the peppers – these sound incredible. Again, as with my comments above, I want to try Narcotic Delight even more. But I find the description of the cherry interesting as well, it being described as a background that seems to stay there in support of the rest of the notes.

    A cherry that isn’t front and center sounds good to me. Cherry can be too medicinal and sweet, but this sounds expertly done. I don’t own anything from this house, yet. In maryland.

    Both reviewers sparked my interest and mentioned how the hedione note is apparently a pleasure arousal note. The blend of notes sounds fantastic and would be very hypnotic to anyone who smells you. A great cold weather scent. I’m from the USA .

    Steven’s review of this fragrance has me excited for what might be a more masculine/unisex expression of a cherry nuance to the scent. I am a fan of cherry and own several cherry dominant fragrances, but none resemble the descriptions of this particular experience. Very promising stuff.

    As someone who has always loved perfume from a Young age and only being able to get intio perfumes privé in small decants and falling in love with the brand. Its really nice to see this line expand and really chaging the fragrance community one fragrance at a time. Its because of steven @redolessence on youtube i descovered the Initio Parfums Privés brand. Being able to only buy decants at the moment but falling in love with the wonderful unique scents.     This sounds yummy! I’m a big fan of Side Effect which does marvelously here in the cold winters in Wisconsin. Steve always does an excellent job introducing fragrances. Today was no exception. It was he and Carlos from Brooklyn Fragrance Lover that introduced me to Initio Fragrances. Side Effect was my first. Followed by Rehab, Mystic Experience, Oud for Greatness and Paragon. There are not too many people in my circle who collect and appreciate fragrances like I do. I trace my love back to my father who would never leave the house without a splash of Hai Karate, Old Spice, Aqua Velva or Skin Bracer by Mennen . Needless to say whenever I’m out and about, people are always asking what I’m wearing and looking it up on their phones. Mr. Jaqueline’s introduction of Narcotic Delight for me created an olfactory vision of being enveloped in a delicious cloud of sexy vanilla,cognac, and cherry tobacco. Sounds delightful!

    As a psychologist by trade, I think it was very interesting to learn about Hedione and it’s reported ties to the limbic system. I love nerdy little tidbits like that. As Michelyn stated, it makes sense that it is in the Carnal Blends collection. I’ve heard from others that this one is a “better” or “more potent” version of Side Effect. Steven said that it has similarities, but the spices, cherry, and cognac really make it stand out on it’s own. Either way, I think it sounds like a gorgeous offering from Initio.     I am new to the ‘niche’ fragrance world, but review channels like Redolessence have helped tremendously! I don’t live in a large city, so I don’t have anywhere to test out many niche colognes, so I have to rely on reviews like this. I have Rehab and Musk Therapy from the house already, they were pretty safe blind buys, but I am really intrigued with Narcotic Delight, I’d love to win this giveaway as I am really interested in the cherry hint you spoke about.     Commenting from Maryland and owning 6 Initio fragrances, I think my current favorite is Atomic Rose. As I listened to Steven’s review I could imagine the smell of cognac, vanilla, pink pepper and cherry and I think Mr. Jacqueline painted a beautiful picture in saying, Narcotic Delight “transcended the ordinary”. I can’t wait to try this one.

    I own six of Initio’s fragrances; Atomic Rose, Side Effect, High Frequency, Absolute Aphrodisiac, Oud for Happiness and Paragon. Some of these I tried after seeing Steven review them. Steven makes very detailed and fair review of fragrances. I found this particular fragrance (Narcotic Delight) review very interesting and exciting! The notes sound promising.

    I fully agree with Yvan Jacqueline, Narcotic Delight tantalizes the senses , it’s boozy , smoky and seductive. The fragrance is available at Neiman Markus but I was impatient and ordered a sample from UK , I guess the fragrance was officially released a bit earlier over there. Paid a bit too much $45 in total but It was worth it. Honestly I don’t believe in hedione seductive properties but Narcotic Delight definitely smells fantastic, and I’m sure it will become a bestseller , maybe even Initio Parfums N1 in terms of sales.
    I can see the parallel Steven made with Side Effect , but I wouldn’t say the two are “quite different” , there are way more similarities than differences in my opinion. If I have to make such parallel of my own i’d say Narcotic Delight to me smells like a love child of Side Effect and Paragon. It’s boozy tobacco , rich and full fragrance , with well blended spicy and fruity undertones.
    To me the fruity nuances are definitely not in the background , at least on my skin, but on the front row , easily detectable from the first spray until the shower time. The reason I said fruity and not cherries is that I smell mostly plum and not sorely cherries, one of the reasons Narcotic Delight reminds me also of Paragon.
    And lastly Narcotic Delight not only lasts for a long time, but it also projects beyond strong, it fills up a room easily.
    I’m well familiar with all Initio Parfums fragrances , and if I have to rate my favorite ones , depending on the mood I’m in:
    1. Side Effect/Narcotic Delight
    2. Oud for Happiness
    3. Oud for Greatness/ Blessed Baraka

Cigar smoke paired with cherry sounds so sexy. Cognac and spicy, sensual and flirtatious are all words I love to hear in a description. I love that cherry has been trailblazing the fragrance community as of late as I think it’s a really interesting note that can show a lot of complexities when paired with other notes.     Narcotic Delight is right up my alley fragrance, not overly aggressive, sexy , woody, slightly sweet and boozy, with really round up characteristics.
    I like how Yvan Jacqueline spoke of cognac, cigar smoke and whispers of vanilla beans. The ambery, spicy and boozy feel in Narcotic Delight I find attractive, the hedione, cherry and Side Effect parallel adds even more to the picture.
    Because of Yvan Jacqueline, Michelyn and Steven I saw myself wearing the fragrance, with dark Burgundy , custom tailored suit , crafted from an Zegna fabrics . The striking color is equivalent to Narcotic Delight , and makes it special , the suit and the fragrance are perfect for going out in colder weather.
    I know 4 Initio Parfums fragrances Side Effect , Oud for Greatness , Atomic Rose and Psychedelic Love , and also in my possession is 7.5ml travel sprayer of Side Effect , my favorite. Now all Initio travel sprays are 10ml , previously they were 7.5ml .

    Steven always makes amazing in depth reviews and this one was no exception. It was good to discover this new release from Initio from the Carnal Blends collection. I wondered if owning Narcotic Delight would be redundant since I already own Side Effect – apparently not; this new release has it’s own character although sharing the same boozy accords as his “cousin”. I love this brand, plus Side Effect was actually my first ever niche purchase! Redolessence has a way with words and is a master connoisseur of ‘haute parfumerie’, it is always a Delight to hear him!

    Regarding Yvan Jacqueline’s introduction of the fragrance – I think it describes in perfection what this release embodies: a sensual cherry where each bite is a sin. A dark night out where the cognac and tobacco make love. A forbidden room where pleasure is indulged with Vanilla and Pink Pepper. I really like Yvan’s energy – I remember a great video with him and the great Brooklyn Fragrance Lover (Rest in PEACE)!

    Steven’s description/review was very good. I like that he clarified the cherry note as being more of a background player. My immediate thoughts went to Lost Cherry by Tom Ford. He indicated it is not at all like that. And to hear he thinks this may rival Side Effect has me absolutely intrigued! I know how much he adores that scent.

    The video and that article paint a portrait of a fragrance that will be a perfect addition to the range of fragrances offered by Initio Parfums Prives. The combination of cognac, vanilla, and tobacco with black and pink pepper seems very intriguing. The fragrance will clearly standout as a unique fragrance in a market that has so many fragrances that are very similar.

    I’m a huge fan of Initio and love Oud for Greatness. I have yet to try the Carnal Blend, but I do know I really enjoy Paragon. I could just imagine how beautiful this is with the hedione. I own the raw ingredient and love it as is. I can’t begin to imagine how this smells.

Now this is why I buy niche perfume. Fascinating and is absolutely having the intended effect on me, compounded but the fact that this has all my favorite notes. I would TREASURE a full bottle.

    To be honest I’m a bit unsure about hedione stimulating effects on my brain , Yvan Jacqueline and Steven on the other hand moved me , and now I feel uber enthusiastic about Narcotic Delight. The new Initio Parfums is so addictive, gently spicy ,very boozy , cherry fruity and sexy vanilla. I imagined a splendid aroma , and a future hit in the fragrance community.
    Rehab was my scent of the day, smells similar to Lavender French Hard Candy from L’Ami Provencal i purchase regularly for many,many years from Amazon. The other two Initio Parfums fragrances I love are Side Effect and Blessed Baraka
    Inspired by Yvan Jacqueline and Steven I’ll treat myself now with De Kuyper XO Cherry Brandy, cheers and thank you for the opportunity

    I am follower of redolessence YouTube channel and I am very excited of this new release by Initio. Steve made a big statement by saying that I will give a good run for its money with Side Effect. Making Narcotic Delight into the Top 3, it is must buy IMO.

    US resident and so glad I just happened upon this sitee!Mr. Jaqueline’s introduction does well with linking the notes/accords with emotional components of this new scent: erogenous, intoxicating, tantalizing and provocative. Oftentimes this could be construed as hyperbole; however, Initio seems to deliver on these sentiments consistently!

    Steven’s video is quite well-done. I love the display of bottles (incredible collection!!) and his more relaxed review style. Well-spoken and relevant in contrast to some other reviewers who can be a bit manic in their presentations. Great outline of the scent profile, experience wearing it and comparison to other Initio scents. Liked his review so much i would have subscribed without any contest!

Steven’s review has me much more excited because Side Effect is also my favorite from this house. Between this and Paragon, I’m excited to own both!     To me Narcotic Delight comes across more masculine, and like steven said although it may share notes with side effect but they are different in many ways. I’ve been looking for a good cherry scent for forever and I think this should be it, since in many scents cherry isnt dont nicely and often has that medicinal smell to it. Thanks for the opportunity. Michelyn’s introduction to Hedione was very interesting, especially learning that it was found to stimulate the limbic areas of the brain in women which are responsible for the release of pheromones. I am a big fan of vanilla and boozy notes in perfume so I feel like Narcotic delight will be a great fragrance for me.
    As for Steven’s video review, I liked how he painted a picture about how Narcotic Delight is deliciously sexy and sweet but not syrupy sweet.

    Reading Yvan Jaqueline’s introduction and seeing the “overdose of Hedione” graphic suggests a fragrance that really goes all in on rich, heady scents. Sultry stuff. Steven discussed how the spices here play off the resinous, sappy qualities of cognac and aged spirits, which all resolve into a ambery, spicy, boozy smell in Narcotic Delight. The “supporting role” cherry also sounds surprisingly restrained, flirty, but not overly sweet or outright carnal. Like Steven said, I think this one will be really at home on cold winter evenings out.

    Great in depth review by Steven and introduction by Jaqueline. Vanilla and Cognac sounds like an incredible combination for the winter cold. Longevity is a must for the temperature and this seems to check all the boxes for uniqueness, wearability, and sweetness for a signature winter scent. Will definitely be looking to try this in person.

    It could be the hedione, or the quality ingredients, or maybe the perfumers ,but as a vain man i can say one thing for certain, Initio Parfums Prives fragrances are highly seductive and appreciated by the ladies, clubs , concerts, dates they just work.
    We have one modern, with slight hints to the classics multifaceted brand new fragrance , and I believe with more than high compliment factor ,with Initio Parfums Prives Narcotic Delight i’ll get a lot of positive attention, smelling amazing.The vanilla , peppery and ambery aspects are all so appealing to me,and the cherry will give the fragrance the modern feel i’m looking for, making it more enigmatic.
    Side Effect is my favorite Initio Parfums Prives fragrance, compliment magnet.

    What strikes me the most is the balance and cohesion of the fragrance. All of the notes here seem to be working together, be it vanilla, hedione, pepper, tobacco. The whole blend in itself looks mesmerizing and now with the added creativity from Initio im sure this is a masterpiece of a scent.

    An apt name for a fragrance that is heavily based on vanilla and hedione. I like that there is a nice amount of booziness and spice in this fragrance to counter things. The use of Cherry as a supporting role, which is not sweet and in the bacground is a nice touch.

    The presentation is pretty as well.

    It was nice to read Yvan’s introduction of the fragrance.

    Definitely not an expert on stimulating the brain substances like Hedione, but my senses are tantalized already by what Yvan Jacqueline and Steven said about Initio Parfums Prives Narcotic Delight , I’d embrace the vanilla, pink pepper, and rum right away.
    Steven’s take on Narcotic Delight , Yvan Jacqueline intro , and Michelyn hedione information altogether made me think of Paris , going on a date with my girlfriend, and eating Marquise Au Chocolat , drizzled with Cognac and with Black Cherries on top , while smelling swirls of Cohiba cigar coming from someone smoking near us , the mixture is how I imagined Narcotic Delight
    There are two Initio Parfums I know now , own and love , Oud for Happiness, and Side Effect.
    ☆Oud for Happiness to me smells like Space Cake , with lots of ginger, you can get in most coffee shops in Netherlands , and now in some states in US.
    ☆ Side Effect, smells similar to Vanilla Bean Bundt Cake , drizzled with Rum. Early December I ordered my second bottle from Twisted Lily.

    Thanks for the giveaway! I liked the breakdown, and it’s interesting that Narcotic Delight has cherry and cognac instead of rum. It might have a bit of a similar smell compared to Side Effect, but I think they’ll be pretty different. I’m not completely sold on it being purple, maybe because this one should be its own colorway? but if gives off a similar vibe to what Side Effect does with hedione, then I see why its purple. Anyway, I’m excited to give it a sniff.

    I would have to say that initio side effect is my favorite but I have yet to smell this new release so maybe this one takes the crown? anyway thanks again for the chance!

    Steven’s detailed reviews are great, and I like how he doesn’t just go off first impressions. Though I only tested it once at the mall, not as thoroughly as him, I agree that cherry is a subtle note. His comparison to Side Effect is pretty spot-on. Yvan’s mention of the tobacco note resonates with me too. On the sample card, tobacco was noticeable, but on my skin, it initially blended with cognac and vanilla. After a bit, it transformed into a warm, sweet vanilla-tobacco aroma with a touch of cherry, feeling quite unisex.
