Max Casacci Xerjoff Groove Xcape

Xerjoff Groove Xcape Blends is a collaboration between Xerjoff founder Sergio Momo and visionary Italian musician Max Casacci who explores music through the sound of our environment- from nature to urban cityscapes. Max Casacci is also the co-founder of Subsonica, an Italian band founded in Turin in 1996, the same city Sergio Momo was born (it is another collaboration between Sergio Momo and a musician; last year with Black Sabbath Tony Iommi).

After researching, I learned that the perfumer is the talented  young Robertet Perfumer Karine Vinchon Spehner who composed some wonderful perfumes for L’Artisan Parfumeur, Amouage and Casamorati to name a few-Michelyn Camen, Editor-In-Chief

Notes: cardamom, pepper, ginger, elemi, incense, rose, mimosa, myrrh, patchouli, labdanum, cedarwood, benzoin

I love the way that he always goes in depth of the notes of all of the fragrances that he reviews.

  • ramsesperez52 says:

I own Tommy Iommi myself so I have been looking forward to learning more about this one. The blue electric bottle is just magnificent (blue is my favorite color). I knew this was a continuation after the success of Tommy Iommi but thanks to Michelyn I learned more about the band itself and where they’re from. I like how Steve described it as resinous and spicy, I don’t currently have any fragrances like this one. I’d love to win a bottle. Cheers from NJ, US.

  • Dannon C Vick says:

    Looking forward to this one!

I enjoyed the descriptions of the notes (especially the opening) from the review and the art from the interview was quite nice.

    Central Florida here.

  • I’m excited to hear about this new offering from Xerjoff. The notes seem right up my alley. As always, Steven was very thorough in his review. I’ve been a long-time fan of Karine Vinchon Spehner as well.

  • Yay, another awesome Xerjoff frag!! They simply are the best. If Steven recommends it it must be great. I am interested in trying to win this baby. Thank you

Beautiful presentation! I can’t wait to give it a try. I’m getting sick off at the freshies of the summer. I enjoy dark, rich, warm resinous fragrances.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

The cardamom in this sounds delightful. I love how thorough Steven is in his review of all aspects of the perfume. Michelyn was nice to describe the band. I’d love to win and live in Indiana

  • I love most fragrances from the house of Xerjoff. They can’t go wrong with anything they put out. This one I would love to have and own. Great review as always!

  • I’ve tried Sergio’s last collab with Tony Iommi and it was a smash hit. I am hoping the same magic comes through in this new collaboration. Michelyn commented on the perfumer, Vinchon Spehner, so I looked her up and she has done some great stuff. Of particular note were Amouage’s Boundless and Overture, as well as Brioni EDP Intense – all excellent works. The blurb I read also says she has a penchant for woody and amber notes created from high doses of naturals.— I’m in!

Groove Xcape has a laundry list of notes and accords that I tend to seek out. I love incense and resins like elemi, myrrh and benzoin, especially when they lean balsamic. Steven said this one gives you a spicy balsamic experience right from the start, before enshrouding you in its depth like a cozy blanket. Wow! I was already starting to drool, but then when he talked about how dark, daring, and potentially mature it is, I was hooked. I’m certainly going to order a sample or decant of this now, but would be ecstatic if I were to win. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA and am a Redolessence subscriber.

  • Chester A Baskerville says:

I love Steven’s enthusiasm in this review. His love for this fragrance truly shines through in his descriptions and zeal.

  • I got into fragrances because the art of perfumery and the art of music are parallel. From composition to blending notes to make a complete song. Being a music producer this is perfect. Incense and rose are two of my favorite note, also trusting Steven’s nose and knowing Xerjoff’s quality I know this is a must have…

  • I love Xerjoff scents, so many are amazing. My personal favorite is bouquet ideale. But I’m also a HUGE fan of incense and with winter on its way I am looking forward to spicy, warm scents. In mayrland.

  • I have to agree. Monkey was a pleasant surprise last year and I am sure this one won’t disappoint either.

  • Kevin L Terry says:

Beautiful bottle and such a quality brand. Stephen does such a magnificent job of explaining the notes and fragrance as always.
Love the name of the fragrance.

  • Blaine Conti says:

Really loved the video as always this seems like such a cool resinous fragrance would love to win been eyeing it since it’s release!

  • It is nice to see this spoken so highly of as the best discovery of the year. As a lover of music, I have had my eye on this one since it was announced. I love to see the resins highlighted with the elemi as Steven states, excited to get my nose on this!

  • I’m always excited to hear about Karine’s creations. I’m a big fan of this perfumer. To hear that she created this, as well as hearing that this is the holy grail of amber and spice is really something because Karine made Overture and Boundless, which are two of my all-time favorite creations overall, and Steven seems confident about that! This fragrance does sound lovely from what Steven mentions. I’m really interested about the black pepper in here. I love the smell of black pepper so I wonder how it comes up in here without reminding me of food. I want to feel cozy with an amber fragrance, so it’s good to hear that this fits the bill. It’s also good to hear that this is a bit more daring. Cheers from Illinois, USA.

  • I just recently purchased a handful of Xerjoff samples from Twisted Lily, and they are quickly becoming one of my favorite fragrance houses. I enjoyed Steven’s description of the spices and resins in Groove Xcape. It sounds like a great addition to the Xerjoff lineup. Michelyn’s introduction gave some really interesting information on the musical connections of this collaboration. I will definitely be checking out Subsonica and diving into Max Casacci’s music. Thank you both!

  • Very excited to sample this fragrance
Price point may be somewhat excessive, but may very well be worth the price.
Notes seem perfect for the fall and winter

  • From the opening I enjoyed reading the name Tony Iommi. I sense how much the video reviewer loves this fragrance. US

  • Matthew Keilwitz says:

Steven’s breakdown of Myrrh was interesting. I’ve never heard it stated that way until now.

And thank you Michelyn for providing the background to the collaboration. It’s interesting to note how many musicians also love the world of scent as much as that of sound.

  • Steven has always been my go to for fragrance reviews especially if I’m in the market for something new with an upcoming season. I love his knowledge on the notes and his descriptions that are simple to understand!

  • Ariel N Hampton says:

I love the enthusiasm he puts in his descriptions. I’m sure this fragrance is a banger.

  • Steve explains the perfume in such an easy to understand manner. Look forward to personally trying this one out!

  • StackinGreene says:

Love the videos this seems like a amazing scent and beautiful bootle and presentation don’t own a xerjoff fragrance yet hopefully this is 1st one!

  • Wow very high praise from Steven on this one. I know their first musician collab has been very popular. Sounds like a beautiful note breakdown and the packaging is stellar as always from this house.

  • Great presentation and looking forward to try this Xerjoff and review it for this Hispanic community in my YouTube channel
    Blessings,
    Gabriel from San Bernardino California

  • I had no idea this was being released this year… how exciting. I enjoyed Michelyn’s expanation of the union of a fragrance creator and a visionary musician. Steven’s note breakdown was lifelike and has sparked my curiosity. Thanks for the giveaway. KY/USA.

  • I have been on a massive Xerjoff run lately; so much so that I’ve been wearing all my favorite colder weather Xerjoffs this summer, and just as it passes us, viola – we have a new Xerjoff to accompany me this coming season! I am super stoked to see this being unleashed just as fall approches. By the name and bottle design, it seems to me that Xerjoff is creating a “music” themed line, and to my eyes, this follows the stuff of legend that is the Tony Iommi Monkey Special – I could be wrong, but that was my first thought when I looked at it (silver bottle with beautiful detailing and the black cap!). Steven mentioned that it’s a resinous, warm, rich, meditative and perfect, perfect perfect for winters – that’s all I need to hear because I was sold 10 seconds before you said it! I’m sure this is another fall/winter banger in the making – and I truly, truly cannot wait to get my hands on a yet another stunning piece of art that is a Xerjoff fragrance. Thanks Steven for introducing this to us – your insights are second to none, and thanks to the people at Cafleurebon for the giveaway – much appreciated. I am an NYC resident, thank you!

  • Steven is so knowledgeable, I enjoyed hearing about all the components he thinks are in the scent. Groove xcape, with the amber, black pepper, elemi sound like something I would enjoy, either on me or my partner. I’m not familiar with Karine Vinchon Spehner, but o will look up more of their scents, as this sounds so interesting. Thank you for the draw and the lovely reviews. In the US.

  • I knew this was gonna be unique and perfect for the upcoming months of fall and winter, especially when Steven started his review with the words “sweater weather”. That’s a review I can absolutely trust and groove xcape seems like a fantastic addition to my staple of fall-winter fragrances. I’m right here in New York.

  • I think redolessence is such an amazing guy and truly a gem in the fragrance community. If it wasn’t for him and his knowledge I wouldn’t have found fragrances such as groove xcape and the way he describes it as a fall winter fragrance got me very excited to try it I hope I win !

  • “..it is the second collaboration between Sergio Momo and a musician last year with Black Sabbath Tony Iommi”

It’s actually not the second, but the third of such collaborations , the first one was back in 2021 with Save Me and Queen’s Brian May , another legendary guitarist .
Honestly I’ve never heard of Max Casacci , and Subsonica , but undeniably Sergio Momo loves guitar players, rock , and metal music.
I’ve sampled Groove Xcape, and fully agree with Steven about basically everything in terms of opening, development, longevity and aroma. The fragrance opens up with a blast of elemi , cardamom and ginger, in the base it turns smoky. To me the best part is the drydown , when the benzoin gives Groove Xcape a nice vanilic twist , must try if you like resinous fragrances.
What actually surprised me, is the comparisons Steven made , not sure why ,but he never mentioned Zefiro , another Xerjoff fragrance composed by Mathieu Nardin. The two share the elemi , cardamom, incense, woody and ambery base, Groove Xcape and Zefiro are close relatives in my opinion.
    My favorite Xerjoff is Mamluk
I’ll check Max Casacci profile, the other profiles I already follow Let’s not forget the man himself @joffmomo , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • I liked reading about Perfumer Karine Vinchon Spehner and the musician Max Casacci. Steven mentioned resins and spice, which caught my attention. On my wishlist it goes. Thanks for another awesome review and draw. Mich USA

  • Reigndelroi says:

I love the analysis of the longevity and also discussion of the appropriate seasons for wearing this scent. I hate when I buy a new scent and it only lasts 2 hours before dissipating. It’s also helpful that he breaks down the notes, I’ve learned so much watching his videos!

  • Fun collaboration—with an electric bottle to match! I’m not familiar to Subsonica but listened to a bit while I was reading Michelyn’s introduction. And it sounds like Groove Xcape Blends was in capable hands with Karine Vinchon Spehner perfuming.

Regarding Steven’s video, I am a fan of “resins and spice,” and calling it a “holy grail” is quite the compliment. I love black pepper in my fragrances as well as amber bases. I’m also glad to hear the ginger and cardamom take a back seat to the pepper. I’m particularly interested in the cozy ratio of elemi and myrrh to labdanum. Great review, Steven. Would love to try this one.

I’m in the USA. I follow @Cafleurebonofficial on Instagram. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • redwheelbarrow says:

Michelyn’s intro about the musician Max Casacci was really interesting. What great inspiration for this fragrance with a musician from Mr. Momo’s home town. I like the way Steven describes this fragrance as being meditative. As he was describing it I was thinking it sounded cozy and then that’s exactly how he described it. I love the notes and I’m a huge cardamom fan. Thank you for the draw. From the US.

  • johnmadison says:

Thank you for the review of Xerjoff Groove Xcape, Steven! And for the introduction Michelyn!
I got my nose on this recently and I would be so excited to have the opportunity to own a bottle of this amazing juice! This fragrance makes me feel so sexy and confident!
    John, Minnesota – USA

  • I would love to experience Xerjoff Groove Excape. Unfortunately, living in a smaller town we are limited to our access of exceptional fragrances. I love watching Stevens videos because it gives me a gateway to the fragrance world and depending on his review I can get a very good idea if I will like the particular fragrance in review or not. This sounds like something special and would go well with our extremely bitter winter temps

  • I really enjoy Steven’s rewiews as usual when it comes to any and new fragrances. balsamic myhrre, meditative style fragrances seem popular for 2023 and this one sounds sumptuous and exciting! Xerjoff always does it best with presentation, a story behind the fragrance and the juice itself. I love their citrus fragrances and the coveted use of Mysore Sandalwood in Richwood. Also the rebranding of their Kemi line is soooo cool. I would love to try this out for sure!

  • Xerjoff is a perfume house that has such interesting offerings. The collaboration with Max Cascani of Subsonic is a fascinating juxtaposition of music with scent. I love the range of spices used. Steven is thorough in his review as always. I’m in the US.

  • MeanderMike says:

Looks like a perfect fragrance for winter Lately I’ve had opportunity to buy Xerjoff Monkey Special and it is just amazing. I wonder if this one is as good as collaboration with Tony Iommi.

  • Xerjoff Groove Xscape sings to my very being. I love a unique, bold and long lasting fragrance that exudes quality and stands out from the crowd of popular mass produced fragrances. I will definitely provide a warm, caring and loving home for this beautiful example of boldness in a fragrance. I look forward to welcoming my first ever Xerjoff into my collection. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Regis Monkton says:

I found Steven’s review to be helpful. I’d like to try Xerjoff Groove Xcape Blends. I’m intrigued to try it because I can like a prominent pepper aspect in fragrances, and I want to see what the resins in it are like. I appreciate knowing that Perfumer Karine Vinchon Spehner made this fragrance. I truly am fond of some of the fragrances she made for Amouage, e.g. Memoir Man, Fate Man, Bracken Woman, Interlude Woman. The only Xerjoff fragrance I’ve tried so far is Naxos (which I like and own), so I’d like to try a lot more from them. I think it’s interesting that Steven considers Xerjoff Groove Xcape Blends to be one of the best releases of this year. I hope to win a bottle of it. I live in the U.S.A.

  • I enjoy how professional Redolessence’s presentation always is. I get the sense that we have similar tastes in fragrances too.

  • Through Groove Xcape people worldwide could learn about the Italy , and its rich culture , historical sightseeings , but also and the importance of Max Casacci , and Subsonica for the rock scene.
Michelyn and Steven takes on the fragrance made me think of being in Torino (Turin) , making the classical Cardamom Spiced Ginger Cookies, and eating them while on Max Casacci concert. Juggling by Steven enthusiasm , on top of his review I believe Groove Xcape is a very special fragrance.
The best Casamorati, the best Xerjoff , and one of the best gourmands ever is called … Italica. Smells very, and I mean very similar to Toffee Almond Cake (traditional recipe) , famous Italian Cake. I’m 99% sure the cake was the inspiration behind Italica.
Appreciate Michelyn musical introduction, Steven’s review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Learning about Xerjoff Groove Xcape Blends was such a delight , Steven and Michelyn are such a great duo ! The different facets set up by the perfumer are impressive , it’s not just a linear resinous fragrance like i was expecting, it’s way more , including connections to Italian band.
In the new Xerjoff fragranse i also like the spices , and incense. Posh fragrance at its best , I need such perfumes in my collection.
I’d wear Groove Xcape Blens on a date , or going out to a bar. I’ll look for samples , my expectations are beyond high
Out of all Xerjoff lines, my favorites are Casamorati Lira , Opera , Italica and Amabile. Instagram follower
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA

  • Anticipation is mounting for the debut of this new fragrance gem!

The portrayal of its notes, particularly the enchanting top notes, in the review was an absolute delight. The artistic visual journey shared during the interview added an extra layer of allure. It’s worth noting that Steven’s review was an embodiment of thoroughness, unraveling the fragrance’s intricacies with finesse. Can hardly wait to experience this olfactory marvel firsthand! • IvanVelikov says:

The new hype train is coming i believe .Groove Xcape feels Italian to me, it represents the beauty , passion, love for music, and sensuality of Italian man, and women.
Ideally balanced, smooth fragrance with lots of spices, resins , hint of sweetness, and it’s made by Xerjoff ? I believe I’d feel in good spirits wearing it.
Ermenegildo Zegna Cloth tailored Baby Blue Slim Fit Single-Breasted , Notch lapel Flap pocket Center Vent , with sharp tailored lines , light gray dress shirt, and tobacco leather Oxford shoes is the extra sharp outfit I’d pair Groove Xcape with.
Like Michelyn told us once , it’s all about craftsmanship for Sergio Momo, and for me too , I’m a tailor after all.
My favorite Xerjoff is Lira .
Thank you Michelyn, Steven and TwistedLily

I’ve never owned a xerjoff. This sounds like something exceptional and I would love to experience it for myself. Thank you for your passionate work and authentic perspective.

  • I own 2 Xerjoff fragrance and they are amazing (1861 Renaissance, and Mefisto Gentiluomo)

Xerjoff Groove Xcape Blends sounds like another great fragrance from the house.

The bottle looks stunning. I hope to win this giveaway.

    From Massachusetts, cheers

  • Can’t go wrong with any Xerjoff fragrances! Steven’s description seemed right up my alley – I don’t have many warm and spicy fragrances, so this sounds very appealing! Also enjoyed the additional context on the fragrance collaboration by Michelyn.

    Redolessence subscriber. USA.

  • Oh boy, what an amazing new fragrance from Xerjoff. I am a huge Xerjoff fan, being Naxos my favorite one so far. I think that Groove Xcape is surely a fantastic fall and winter fragrance. I love that the longevity is amazing and the cardamom, the elemi and the resins are widely present here. I would love to win this one.
Steven and Michelyn surely did a great review here.
    USA here.

  • Groove Xcape is a fragrance with a character, that has a lot of layers, resinous, spicy ,floral with nice sweet undertones .
I like such non-linear , artistic creations , something to be expected of all Xerjoff fragrances of course. Since I don’t know much of the rock music , I like the way Michelyn filled us in . I now know not only about the Groove Xcape, but how big of a name Max Casacci actually is.
Naxos and La Capitale are my favorite Xerjoff beauties , and I’d love to compare them with Groove Xcape
Yes I follow Cafleurebon on social media
    Thanks for the draw

  • Not just Sergio Momo, but all Italians truly love their country , cherish Italian culture, and are proud of their heritage, and home town , I love it.
I grew up in a family of old-school hip-hop lovers, it’s still the music I listen to, so Michelyn introduction was helpful to me, to sort of feel better the Italian Rock spirit of “Groove Xcape”.
When I think of it , I like everything about the fragrance, the spices , incense and especially the plethora of resins and spectacular looking bottle. I need to know “Groove Xcape” , I’m expecting greatness.
Karine Vinchon Spehner I know for the fragrances she created for Amouage Boundless, Interlude Woman , Overture Man and Santal Sohar from the Attars line .
The best Xerjoff fragrances in my opinion are Cruz del Sur II , followed by Golden Dallah , and then comes my old love Lira.
I follow Cafleurebon on both Facebook and Instagram
    Thank you the opportunity

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Steven’s Youtube review if Xerjoff Groove Xcape and Michelyn’s introduction. Steven is one of the best reviewers on Youtube with his detailed and well spoken reviews. This sounds like something I would truly love with rose, resinous incense, and warm spicy notes that sound truly divine. The talented young perfumer Karine Vinchon Spehner has collaborated with Sergio Momo and has created something really special. I am from the USA.

  • Great review by Steven and introduction by Michelyn. The Tony Iommi perfume was soooo good, and I bet this collaboration with a musician is just as good (judging from Steven’s review, it must be).

I have an address in the USA.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the wonderful review Steven.

I love how resinous and ambery this fragrance. The use of the spices in this totally elevates it, especially the black pepper! If you call this the hoy grail, then this is a holy incense fragrance.

This sounds like a fun collaboration and the presentation is really cool.

  • Edwin Ornelas says:

I have many pleasant experiences with Xerjoff from Tony iommi to commandante as my personal favorites and really I believe Xerjoff is one of if not the best niche houses there is on the market! I hope to win but good luck to everyone!

  • Ibrahim Alsayad says:

I love rich fragrances, this fragrance seems to be very high quality, i hope to win it.

  • I love the description that Steven gives of this fragrance. I like to groove, so this sounds great!
