Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal Review + opulent giveaway

Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal

collage by Nicoleta and Michelyn of Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal

Rose and Oud is a popular combination in perfumery and there have been dozens (hundreds?) launched over the past decade. Do you really need another “Rose Oud perfume”? If it smells as great, is as unique as and is as opulent and complex as Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal then the answer is yes, because it so much more.  Originally created as his personal bespoke fragrance in 2014, it took nine months to complete and was the first perfume under his eponymous brand. I asked Manos Gerakinis about its creation, “Sillage Royal it has a special place in my heart. The inspiration is my hometown, Kavala, a city in Northern Greece that used to be part of the Egyptian-Ottoman empire for hundreds of years. Its wealth came from the cultivation of tobacco, which is no longer produced but the scent is prominent in the area.

The editors of ÇaFleureBon have written about most of the collection. I bring this to your attention, because each review also gives tremendous insight into Manos’ life, ethos, aesthetic, and Greek heritage. Senior Editor Nicoleta Tomsa wrote about Anthem and Omen, (which was an Art and Olfaction finalist in 2022), Senior Editor Lauryn Beer about Immortelle, Former Senior Editor Despina Veneti about Rose Poetique. Editor Emeritus Robert Herrmann stunning review of Pivoine  (he passed away October1, 2019; just a few months later).  Video Editor Steven Gavrielatos has a ÇaFleureBon video review of Quintessence and also reviewed the new METHEXIS, this past July of 2022 (Steven met Manos in Athens  for an exclusive). And so we come full circle. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

  • I’m an avid lover of rose perfume and own many. The sexiest rose fragrance I currently own is Frederic Malle’s Portrait of a Lady. Now, if Sillage Royale is the “sexiest” rose by Steven’s nose; I definitely would like to own it. Thank you for taking the time to read this message and best of luck to all who will enter the drawing! Happy sniffing. My residence is in the state of Georgia.

Never enough Oud and Rose fragrances for me! While I cherish my Oud Maximus and Onyx extreme (with natural oud), I love to sample this combination again and again, especially the atypical rose and oud fragrances.

Thanks to this blog my list of newly discovered houses and fragrances I want to sample (I’d love to sample them all, but realistically need to narrow it down) is continously growing. I’ve read all of the Manos Gerakinis perfume reviews and Sillage Royal and METHEXIS caught my eye immediately. Really really want to know what the turmeric top note smells like, since I’ve never smelled it before. Greetings from Croatia, EU!

  • I really want to have this fragrance!! Hebdaid about that its more woody that rose poetic, so probably I’ll love sillage royal!

  • The fascinating notes of the fragrance spark my interest based on Steven’s review. I live in Poland, EU. I loved the unique notes mentioned in The written Çafleurebon review. I love reading these reviews and watching Steven’s video reviews. It’s really something very helpful and beautiful.

  • Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal was inspired by Manos’ hometown Kavala and has a special place in his heart, also due to being the first fragrance. Steven says it is a charming oud and rose fragrance with earthy undertones. I am in US.

  • Oud and rose, while they may be common together, are still a great combo and I love different variations on this theme. So based on Steven’s video review and looking at the notes, it is bound to be a fabulous perfume. Like how the patchouli and spices are used in Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal. I am very familiar with turmeric but not as a perfume note so that wouldbe interesting to try in Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal.

Quote that I like (from Nicoleta’s review of Anthem – https://cafleurebon.com/manos-gerakinis-anthem-review-chris-maurice-2021-the-air-of-greece-draw/): “Manos’s task is not a simple one. Still, we are given a fully immersive experience that speaks to the mind, heart, and soul with equal strength, and Anthem does what the name promises: strikes a universal chord that resonates with the most intimate parts of one’s soul.”

Thanks for the draw and review. I am a Redolessence subscriber and am from the USA.

Thank you Steven , for sharing your review on this one. It sounds like a really nice fragrance

Rose oud combo is one of the most used combos in perfumery. Yet, each perfumer’s signature on this combo makes each perfume different. I saw Steven’s review and I believe Gerakinis‘s signature makes this a lot different from others. I also like the image of the Greek background mixing west with east.

Oh woah. I’m really intrigued by those top notes and how they’d play against the rose and oud combo. Kind of dark and spicy and alluring? I imagine it would be the sexiest rose perfume, I’d love to be able to try it. I live in Missouri, US

  • Steven says Spillage Royale it’s the “sexiest Rose”
Roses have been dear to Manos since childhood, when he started to paint them in his grandmother’s garden. For Rose Poétique he wanted an uplifting, jovial floriental built around the “queen of flowers”. Written by Despina Veneti for Rose Poetique. I’m a big fan of Rose Fragrances and would love to own this one. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • Cristina Percoco says:

Another great review by Steven. I fell in love with Pivoine by Manos Gerakinis and am excited to try the bolder fragrances from this house, like Sillage Royal. It seems like a lot of heart and soul went into making this fragrance, with quality ingredients and a unique interpretation on rose-oud combo. Thanks for the chance to win a bottle! Pennsylvania, USA.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

The rose is the most popular note in perfumery and it is the flower that I like as much as the tuberose.
The name rose (trandafir in romanian and other language too) comes from the Neo-Greek τριαντάfyllο (triantáfyllo, “thirty leaves”, close, by popular etymology. Each rose, regardless of species and size, has 30 petals between them, each petal signifying a love story. I am from EU

  • Just the fact that this was a bespoke fragrance Manos Gerakinis made for himself says it all.
From the pyramid it is clear that this is more then the usual rose and oud combo.
Love it, as I would like to try some of the brand’s perfumes, always so well described by Steven.

A quote from Lauryn Beer review about Immortelle:

“Recorded by Pliny the Elder in the 1st century and alluded to by Homer, immortelle was said to be sacred to the gods and adorned temples across the classical world. Today, it grows wild in Greece, its vivid yellow blooms believed to bring luck”.

I love fragrances with a personal story behind, and it makes me curious to maybe even find those tobacco notes Manos mentioned. EU

  • Never tried anything from Manos Gerakinis, but would love to start with this one. Sillage Royal sounds very good!
    Europe. Thanks!

  • Love cardamom fragrances they always have something wuite unique and smooth in their composition. This brand it’s super hard to find here in Italy and I’m very curios about it. Also love the bottle and the aesthetic of the brand and from the reviews sound quite powerful.
    Greetings from Italy

  • Thanks Steven for the review of “another” rose and oud perfume! I think that is the same for any kind of fragrance, everything has done before but if it smells great, welcoming the addition. I didn´t know it was the first scent of Manos Gerakinis brand! My preferred rose oud one is The Night by Ferederic Malle, a very animalic approach. It must to be an experience to go to the atelier of a perfumer, as Steven went to Gerakinis one! It seems is not just rose and oud in the scent. I love the spiciness and smokiness of the opening of Sillage Royal (cardamom & saffron) and the resinous of the base. Regarding other reviews of Manos Gerakinis in Cafleurebon, I fall in love with Immortelle that has the same approach to patchouli than Sillage Royal: a chocolate warm patchouli. Lauryn introduces us to a “summer gourmand” with the sweetness of the Immortalle but not heavy, a light and smoky touch mad it a great summer fragrance. I live in Spain, EU.

  • Thank you Steve for another wonderful review and for giving us a reference point for the smell – and it was catching that you compared it to MFK’s Oud Silk Mood which is one of my favorites from that house in addition to Oud Satin Mood. In addition, it was nice of Steve to describe his meeting with Manos Gerakinis and let us know the kind of man he is. Sillage Royale sounds very beautiful, opulent and regal.

I also looked at Nicoleta Tomsa’s review of Manos Gerakinis Omen of which I found seems to have a similar profile to Sillage Royale without the oud. On that review there were many memorable lines but the one that caught my attention again were “Pythia’s prophetic powers were linked to vapors, raising from a chasm in the ground” and “A chemical analysis of these hydrocarbon gases is ethylene, which has a sweet smell and produces a narcotic effect described as a floating or disembodied euphoria.” – It always helps to have a logical explanation for seemingly illogical occurrences :).

Thank you Manos Gerakinis for the kind giveaway. I am in USA

  • Would like to participate in this giveaway for this lovely fragrance. Thanks Manos and Steven. From Greece.

  • My interest was sparked when the reviewer said this fragrance was, “unique” in the world of rose/oud fragrances. US

  • Do we need another rose oud perfume? Was the question posed above. Yes, because it’s also about the notes blended with them and how they are presented. Do we need a 9th flanker of aqua do Gia? A harder question lol. Thank you for the draw. USA.

  • I love how Steven described this fragrance as being totally unisex, targeted or fit to a more mature and sophisticated person and as having very good longevity and sillage. I personally love rose-oud combos and I also got intrigued by the fact this particular perfume has a smokey quality and a chocolatey, rich and delicious component of patchouli.
For my comment to count as a double entry, I shall paste this bit of the review for Pivoine, which I know and love: “this apple is elegant and peeled by a favorite European uncle, panama-hatted, silver engraved penknife in hand, the peel a perfect spiral”. Such an inspired image by the late Robert Herrmann, who is dearly missed.
    I live in the EU.

  • A woodsy rose Oud combo? sign me up! Loved Steven’s review and would be thrilled to get my nose on this as I love Oud Satin Mood and others in this vein.

  • It’s my first time hearing about Manos Gerakinis. I love rose perfume and Sillage Royal sounds amazing- I would love to try it.
    Greetings from Gdańsk, Poland.

  • The “sexiest rose” according to Steven?
In my opinion there are not enough Rose and Oud perfumes. They all have room on my skin. So I would love to own a bottle of Sillage Royal, as well.

Kavala.. I used to spend summers there, in love

    I live in Portugal now.

  • Oud, rose, and patchouli is my favorite heart note fragrance combination to smell. Individually or combined, niche brands seem to get them right. That is why I cannot wait to smell this fragrance. The note breakdown looks interesting, so I believe this could be one of my favorites to own and, most importantly, wear during date night with my spouse.

  • Thanks for this interesting article Michelyn!

I admit that I am a person that occasionally judges a book by its cover too quickly. Whenever I see Rose and Oud it doesn’t pique my interest right away and feel like it’s another brand jumping on the bandwagon.

I felt that with my current collection and prodominantly my bottle of MFK Oud Silk Wood, I would have the enough fragrances to cover my needs but Steven’s recommendation of Sillage Royal makes me feel like I need to try this. I am running a bit low on Oud Silk Wood so it looks like he made my choice of the next perfume a little easier!

Nicoleta’s review of Omen was the fragrance that put Manos Gerakinis on my radar. I love Amber fragrances and the Fruity/Spicey notes spoke most to me. I have never tried a Manuel Matos either and hope to be able to try one of his fragrances soon.

    Greetings from in the EU!

  • Rose and oud are a classic combination for a reason. It’s always a joy to find a fragrance featuring those two notes that is well executed. The smoke and spice speaks of a cooler weather fragrance. The patchouli, musk and amber ramp up the sexiness. I remember Nicoleta’s review of Anthem, another rose-oud fragrance that seems bright with the opening citrus notes. Another ode to Grecian history from Manos Gerakinis! MD, USA.

  • I love the fact that Steven points out this isn’t your typical “Rose/Oud” combo. I really appreciate that because once you’ve smelled on, you have smelled about 95% of the other rose/oud fragrances out there. (Ombre Nomade is the absolute BEST by the way 😉 !) I love fragrances that have character about them, and those are Steven’s exact words that this fragrance has character. Unfortunately, Robert was before my time here on Cefluerbon. Going back and reading his article of Pivoine Robert really had the talent of painting a picture with his words. Robert had asked Mr. Gerakinis what the tarot cards in which he replied with it was his gentle way of “reminding people that positive things happen to people with positive attitudes.” How true this statement rings in todays world. Thank you so much for the article, Steven for his video, and most of all thank you Manos Gerakinis for providing a bottle for somebody to win!

  • What sparks my interest is the note breakdown. Rose and oud is a classic combination but the added notes are really interesting. Live in the US.

  • As far as this fragrance goes, I was sold when Steven described the patchouli as “chocolatey”. The complexity of the notes sounds wonderful! As far as previous reviews of this house, I loved the line from Robert Herrmann on Pivoine: “Manos Gerakinis Pivoine opens with a slight taste of apple, but not eaten out of hand, this apple is elegant and peeled by a favorite European uncle, panama-hatted, silver engraved penknife in hand, the peel a perfect spiral. This is an apple of anticipation awaiting a first tart bite. ” Thanks for the great reviews and this giveaway!

  • Great review by the one and only Redolessence. He is one of the best, if not the best, reviewer in youtube.
I think that this rose-oud based fragrance is not like every other creation that is released on the market everyday, but something unique and better.
METHEXIS review is one I loved reading here.

  • Deaspina mentioned that Rose Poétique has touches of sharp rhubarb and tangy raspberry which appeals to me. Omen speaks to me, thanks to Nicoleta, with its notes of saffron, buchu and ambergris. I also enjoyed reading about Pythia’s prophetic powers. I always enjoy a rose/oud/saffron fragrance. Steven describes Sillage Royale as charming. I do enjoy a smoky perfume. Thanks for another awesome review and draw. Mich USA

  • I love rose in my fragrances. Trying a new perfume with rose is always a different experience, although it has been done and interpreted as a main note in many perfumes, there is still something new to discover about rose.
    Thank you! Europe

  • The smoke and turmeric notes that Steven described in his review definitely piqued my interest! Rose and patchouli is one of my favorite combos and I’d love to try this one. It would be also interesting to contrast Sillage Royale with Rose Poetique, which Despina reviewed as a fruitier, more ambery rose. I’m in MN, USA.

  • “I love to add a philosophical question to my fragrance collection and here is what would the ultimate element of the world smell like? And we came up with Manos Gerakinis Quintessence, a fragrance that combines flowers, woods, spices, herbs and plants and in some way all four elements in one”. -A Note from the Brand.”

    And

“Manos Gerakinis Quintessence is a thoughtfully crafted ambery balsamic oud fragrance. There have been many takes on amber-vanillas, but Quintessence is, in my opinion, one of the most artistic and versatile. – Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief”

The two quotes from Michelyn are the main reasons why I sampled Quintessence, and Immortelle. Saffron Vanilla Cake, with prunes and pistachios is how the fragrance smells in my Pastry Chef mind
Steven take on Sillage Royal made me think of making Kayk-e Eshgh (traditional recipe) , more people know it as Persian Love Cake , or Persian Pavlova cake.
Both Quintessence and Immortelle are very good fragrances, but I slightly prefer Immortelle and do have plans to buy a bottle for the Fall.
Appreciate Michelyn introduction, Steven review, and the giveaway campaign

  • Steven never fails to bless us with clear, concise, professional style reviews, and he lived up to the task at hand reviewing Sillage Royal. What intrigued me was how Steven described this one as a unique rose/oud fragrance that stands out from the others. I also really loved how he used a “royal court” to describe the note breakdown: the dominant rose and oud being the King and Queen, with the supporting notes being the courtesans. Love it! He also described the patchouli as rich, earthy and chocolatey, which sounds very nice. With all that being said, the best part of Steven’s review was his gratitude and respect to Manos as not only a perfumer, but as a person. I also read the late Robert Herrmann’s review on Pivoine and this excerpt he wrote on Manos’ creations is what stood out to me most:
Manos has created perfumes that could be classified as “From Greece to west”; perfectly composed fragrances with just a touch of unrestrained Aegean wildness.
Thank you for the reviews and for the chance to experience this fragrance!

  • I like how Sillage Royal is made , saffron, rose woods and well balanced smokiness. Sophisticated , elegant fragrance for dressed up, predominantly formal occasions.
I’ve heard about Manos Gerakinis before , but never had a chance to smell his fragrances.
“Talking with Manos one discovers a refreshingly candid, soft-spoken, genuinely kind man with a great sense of humour. As a creative director he submits his briefs to French-based perfume manufacturing companies, and (if needed) takes his time until he finds the scent he dreamt of”
I’m quoting Despina Veneti from her Rose Poetique review. I was wondering where she is, i was not aware she’s retired
Thank you Michelyn , Steven, and Despina too , since I just read her review for the first time.

Thank you Steven, your reviews are so unbeatably approachable, informative and comprehensive! Smoke, saffron, a good dollop of mostly warm, chocolate-y patchouli and warming resins plus some alluring woodiness! if this is what a good, well mixed and complex rose – oud centered fragrance incorporates (and I own a few) then I am happy to settle for Sillage Royal.

I was really struck by the ever worth quoting words of Manos “The only real luxury is time, make yours memorable” from Nicoleta’s review of Anthem. It emphasizes the importance of living with purpose as our time visiting this planet is ever so limited.

Big thanks for the draw. I am based in the EU

  • I need to explore the whole line of Manos Gerakinis fragrances.
Other than reading about the sexy, playful and inviting fragrance called Sillage Royal, I also enjoyed learning about how it was inspired by Kavala , the hometown of Manos Gerakinis , and how much it means to him.
From Despina Veneti review of Rose Poetique
‘Roses have been dear to Manos since childhood, when he started to paint them in his grandmother’s garden. For Rose Poétique he wanted an uplifting, jovial floriental built around the “queen of flowers”. After almost a year, Rose Poétique was born – a composition of admirable balance and beauty, as well as a fragrance that celebrates the origins of the brand’s owner.’
From Steven and Michelyn review of Quintessence
‘Quintessence is, in my opinion, one of the most artistic and versatile. – Michelyn Camen’
From Lauryn Beer review of Immortelle
‘But where Sables plays with the astringency of black tea and black pepper for contrast, Gerakinis embraces the rich, maple syrup quality of immortelle by flanking it with nursery sweets.’
    Thanks for the draw

  • Thank you for your thoughtful review, I love following along as you open the box, spray the perfume, and describe it as it settles down! I also was intrigued by your description of rose and oud on thrones, with other notes in the court around them. Thank you for the video and giveaway, writing from the EU.

  • Yes, I really need another Rose Oud Perfume! Its never enough! Despina Veneti reviewed about Rose Poetique, another great rose perfume : “composition of admirable balance and beauty, as well as a fragrance that celebrates the origins of the brand’s owner”. Couldn’t agree more, as my country is Greece!!!

  • I always enjoy Steven’s reviews. And I have such similar tastes as him. I adore Rose and Oud fragrances. I have several. One of my most favorite is Jo Malone Velvet Rose Oud. But Sillage Royal sounds like it’s darker and spicier, which sounds incredible!
    I live in the US.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I really appreciated Steven highlighting the opulence, and expensive-smelling nature of the fragrance. Whenever I hear that, that just means that the fragrance, not only, uses the highest quality ingredients, but that it is very well-blended. Coupled with that was his highlight of the notes, and how they all work together, with good balance. DefInitely want to get my nose on this, as I love me a good Rose-Oud combo.

And since I love Rose fragrances, I will include “a line or two” from Despina”s review of Rose Poetique in order to: be counted twice: “More than a geographic bridge between East and West, Greece has always been a melting pot of various cultures, traditions, and mentalities. Manos Gerakinis Rose Poétique evokes that reality, as a stunning aromatic crossroad between Oriental and Occidental olfactory approaches. ”

  • I have read a lot about Manos Gerakinis and am really intrigued by his work, I would love to have the possibility to taste it thanks to this giveaway! Being a total fan of Greece, I had read with great interest Nicoleta’s review of Omen, a lovely journey down Greek Epic and I so enjoy Steven’s reviews because he perfectly pronounces Manos’ surname! 😀 (jokes aside, I always enjoy Steven’s reviews!).
Can one have enough of rose-oud? I thought so, but when Steven said “it smells expensive”, he convinced me I definitely need another one! Sillage Royale seems really complex and interesting, with the spices and resins…I am sure I’d love it!. Greetings from Italy

  • Phillip_Barkley says:

    Greetings everyone
I like Sillage Royal because of the modernized approach to oud , rose and saffron. I wonder how the chocolate patchouli will change the classical setting It smells expensive , i like the plot and the realization.
It took me a while to read all Manos Gerakinis reviews, some of the lines I liked the most
August 9, 2019 Lauryn Beer review of Immortelle
“A smoky, dark chocolate patchouli comes right up behind the dessert aromas, tamping down the sweetness with some loaminess.
Moments later, sandalwood comes forward, and the two notes together bring a counterpoise of bitter and smooth woodiness that complements and contrasts with the more toothsome aspects.”
March 5, 2022 Nicoleta Tomsa review of Omen
“Sometimes circling around your skin, heady and sweet, dreamlike and deeply sensual with the sweetness of delicious fruits and smoke”
    Thanks

  • Steven recommends this unique rose-oud combination inspired by perfumer’s hometown Kavala in Greece. From EU.

  • Do you really need another “Rose Oud perfume”?
The answer is yes. Rose and Oud has slowly become one of my favorite combos in fragrance. Steven mentions that it does have a way of seperating itself from all the other rose oud fragrances that’s something that excites me. A fragrance prioritizing uniqueness is hard to do nowadays like he says and I like fragrances that stand out.

    I live in Dallas, Tx

I do remember Lauryn’s review on Immortale. She wrote “Gerakinis embraces the rich, maple syrup quality of immortelle by flanking it with nursery sweets. Brown sugar and cinnamon is noticeable right off the top; a realistic milk note travels through the middle, taking me back to Sunday breakfast at my childhood home, the smells of French toast and cold cereal permeating the kitchen.” and since then I have purchased it and she was absolutely right. Spot on

  • Being the first one produced usually means a lot of sweat, blood and tears went into this creation, taking 9 months to complete. Based on that, you know it has to be beautiful! Thanks for the draw! US.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal was inspired by Manos’ hometown Kavala and has a special place in his heart, also due to being the first fragrance. Steven says it is a charming oud and rose fragrance with earthy undertones. I am in US. NYC

  • Stephen pointed out in his review that this takes the spiced rose oud archetype in an unusual direction. I like the idea of a twist on that genre, and a rich, chocolaty patchouli under those two notes sounds wonderful, as does a spiced opening of cardamon, saffron, and turmeric hit with a bit of smoke. Also, this label and bottling reminds me a lot of Acca Kappa’s Black Pepper & Sandalwood, which is a good thing; bold red and simple geometry combined to classy effect. Thanks for the review Stephen.

Also, thank you for linking to some other reviews of Manos Gerakinis perfumes. These beautiful lines from Robert Herrmann’s review of Pivoine jumped out:

    > Manos Gerakinis Pivoine opens with a slight taste of apple, but not eaten out of hand, this apple is elegant and peeled by a favorite European uncle, panama-hatted, silver engraved penknife in hand, the peel a perfect spiral. This is an apple of anticipation awaiting a first tart bite.

  • Sillage Royal i find interesting for a few reasons, it’s Manos Gerakinis first rose fragrance, it has charm , personality and last , but not least the perfumer love for Kavala, his hometown.
The two lines I’d like to include
“There have been many takes on amber-vanillas, but Quintessence is, in my opinion, one of the most artistic and versatile. – Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief”
“Manos Gerakinis Immortelle may have just invented the summer gourmand. And I’d call that good fortune indeed.-Lauryn Beer, Senior Editor”
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • Michael Prince says:

What interests me about Steven’s review of Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal is how Steven describes it as not being your typical oud rose fragrance, but something so much more complex and beautiful with spicy and smoky accents of Saffron, woody elements, and a deep, rich, and chocolate patchouli. I loved Lauryn Beers review of Immortelle and ir’s one of my favorite fragrances as well as Quintessence. I am from the USA.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I have about a couple of rose/oud fragrances in my collection, but I’m not opposed to adding more to it, especially if it’s unique and high-quality like this fragrance seems to be. According to Steven, this fragrance has a lot of charm and personality, and that is a reason why I’d like to try it. I live in the U.S.A.

Here are lines from Despina’s review:
“Manos Gerakinis and his perfumes were among the nicest discoveries at Esxence 2019 for many fragrance lovers.”
“More than a geographic bridge between East and West, Greece has always been a melting pot of various cultures, traditions, and mentalities. Manos Gerakinis Rose Poétique evokes that reality, as a stunning aromatic crossroad between Oriental and Occidental olfactory approaches.”

  • Thanks for the great reviews Steven, Michelyn

It was good to read about the life of the perfumer through all the CFB reviews.

It was also interesting to hear about this fragrance as an expression of rose instead of being called a Rose-Oud fragrance. Also cool to see turmeric and the warm chocolatey patchouli.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Fantastic review Steven! What sparks my interest based on Steven’s review of Manos Gerakinis Sillage Royal is the way he describes it as not the typical oud rose with just those two main notes, but rather having a “court” surround the king and queen with notes of spice, warmth, and other woodsy characteristics. I also love how he compares it to other popular niche fragrances such as Oud Silk Mood because I love having reference points to other fragrances I’m familiar with and have smelled before.

I also really enjoyed reading Nicoleta Tomsa’s review on Omen and how it was inspired by the fragrances of the journey to see the Oracle of Delphi foreign – both foreign and mysterious yet also fresh and full of the fruits of the earth, a stunning juxtaposition. I live in the US.
