Manos Gerakinis of Manos Gerakinis Parfums whose fragrance Omen was an Art and Olfaction Finalist 2022 met with Video Content Editor Steven Gavrielatos while Steven was in Athens. Steven had a personal tour of his beautiful showroom and was introduced to the newest in the collection, Manos Gerakinis METHEXIS. I asked Manos for his inspiration.

“I believe in creating memories through fragrances and gourmands tend to do so by including their invisible taste. Ever since we launched Immortelle, I was longing for the next gourmand fragrance to add to my collection. I was fascinated by fig-based fragrances for quite some time but I found it a difficult ingredient to master.  In Ancient Greece, fig was amongst the three most important seeds along with olives and grapes. It comes at no surprise that the cultivation was only allowed to the state, in order to ensure its wealth, forbidding individuals to make any personal gain from it.” Manos Gerakinis

Manos Gerakinis METHEXIS is a unique fig-based fragrance, one that becomes a delicious temptation. Honey, cocoa, vetiver, dried fruits are amongst the ingredients that make it a memorable fragrance.’-Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

I would definitely love to try the fig and honey fragrance thank you for sharing

  • Lactonic gourmands are delightful! I like that fig, rather than chocolate, stands out most. I had the chance to try Immortelle last weekend at Indigo and fell in love. I’m excited to smell Meoexis next. ~ Indiana

Meoexis really sparks my interest because I love the warmth & animalic tones that honey notes give off in a fragrance. It really sounds wonderful but so do the other ones in this house, like Immortel & Omen.

  • Chuck Frazier says:

Wow that sounds spectacular. Fig is not a scent I’ve used before but with the combinations of all of those scents, it’s sounds special. I would love to try it out.

  • While I have only tested Immortelle from Manos Gerakinis, I was immediately intrigued by MEOEXIS when it was released. I’m so happy that Manos decided to make another gourmand to add to his collection; however, many of his other fragrances appeal to me, as well.

The fig, honey, and cocoa sound delicious. Since Steven mentioned it has a lactonic and chocolaty aspect, I want to try it even more! It sounds perfect for fall and winter, but since Steven said he would wear it during summer I am guessing it must work as a year-round gourmand. I would love to try MEOEXIS and the other fragrances in the discovery set. Thank you, Steven, for the video, and thank you to Manos Gerakinis for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

  • Carrie Young says:

I Love fig fragrances and this one with honey and cacao is very intriguing! And the fact it could be a summer gourmand fragrance puts the icing on the cake!! I would love to add this to my collection and winning the discovery set would be awesome!!

  • I am a Redolessence subscriber and enjoy watching Steven’s video reviews. I have enjoyed eating figs but have never experienced a perfume based on figs. It seems METHEXIS is sweet but also very wearable, which is a quality gourmand perfumes sometimes don’t have, and it is a turn off. But with Chris Maurice as the perfumer, and woody and honey notes, it’s likely a lovely perfume. I wish there were more draws of samples and discovery sets along with full bottles so more people can try before spending a lot of money on full bottles. Appreciate this draw of samples – I am from the USA.

  • Steven’s description of the milky creaminess of the fig in Methexis made my mouth water! All of the Manos Gerakinis scents sound very intriguing and I would love to try the discovery set. I am in the US.

  • GennyLeigh says:

I love discovery sets! You really get a feel for the creativity of the perfumer when you can try a collated collection, much like a wine flight. Methexis sounds yummy with the fig, cocoa, honey and dried fruit on a bed of grassy vetiver. MD, USA.

  • I am a gouramand fragrances lover and this one, with the prominent fig seems something that I would adore.
Redolesence really delivers great reviews, prompts to him.
    USA here.

  • Southirina says:

I didn’t know that figs were considered so important in Ancient Greece and that private cultivation was forbidden. So that makes it a forbidden fruit 🙂 Among with honey and cocoa must be a heavenly scent to wear. If other fragrances are interesting or intriguing, METHEXIS seems addictive like pure pleasure.
    Hugs from Romania

  • patrick_348 says:

What interests me most is the idea of a gourmand fragrance that I could wear all year round. I was also intrigued by Steven’s talking about the memories of childhood that he said the fragrance evoked. I am in the US in North Carolina.

  • ianbradleyandrews says:

  • ajraccounts says:

i’ve tried/smelled several fresh-fig perfumes but i’m intrigued to try one that has notes of honey and dried fruit, ie. one that sounds like it plays up the ripe aspects of the fig. i live in the US.

  • A unique fig based fragrance with notes of honey, cocoa, vetiver, dried fruits are amongst the ingredients that makes it a memorable fragrance. It is a sweet, woody, rich, full and creamy. Even though it is a gourmand fragrance, it can be worn in the summer. This fragrance was inspired by a Greek vacation as one is enjoying some fig under a fig tree.
    Maryland, US

  • I would be so interested to try based on your description of a summer gourmand! Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • peppermoon says:

I’m loving all of these ancient and historic perfume inspirations. Figs and honey are such a classic pairing in food and I would love to smell like it. Any honey notes in a notes list always pique my interest. Please enter me for the drawing. I live in the US

  • CristalliF says:

I love fig note in parfums!!! I grew up in Cyprus and all summers of my childhood was full of yummie figs and the smell of fig trees and fig leaves….The description of this lactonic gourmandish creaminess makes me melt! I live in Athens, Greece and I’m looking forward to met Manos Gerakinis and smell his creations.

  • Love fig, it sounds luxurious and delicious! A night out fragrance. Based in the UK.

  • I really like perfumes that are strongly scented of fig. Some are among my favorites (Barrister and Mann Clusterfig, an aftershave) and others are challenging to wear, but endlessly intriguing (Fig My Love). Surprisingly, I don’t think I’ve tried a sweet, milky fig fragrance, and certainly not one that’s richly blended with honey or cocoa. Watching Steven’s video, I laughed when he took a sniff of the blotter and gasped; that seems like a very positive review! Thank you for the interesting interview and the detailed introduction to METHEXIS. I’d love to try it.

    I’m in the midwest, USA.

  • Methexis is a beautiful word with an even more beautiful meaning. It’s an ancient Greek word meaning the participation of all senses into an abstract idea or an artistic expression…as if you become one with a musical piece or a philosophical concept. Cosmic stuff really. I have huge respect for Manos and the vision he brings into his work. Methexis sounds delightful and elegant at the same time. I’d be thrilled to give it a try. Greetings from Greece!

  • This fragrance sounds wonderfully indulgent and rich! My interest is definitely sparked. I live in the US.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the great review Steven!

I love fig in fragrances, both in its green leafy form and it’s sweet milky lactonic beauty. It’s super neat to hear about this fragrance combined with the sweetness of honey.

    Cheers from WI, USA
