LÔR Paris Oud Latte (Nathalie Feisthauer) + “olfactive language” giveaway

LÔR Paris is a relatively new niche fragrance brand that debuted in Paris in 2019 and exhibited at Esxence the same year. Born in Europe, but bearing an adventurer soul, with influences that span all across the globe, like a golden arc that connects, on an imaginary map, Paris, Dubai, and Tokyo.

We have the classical, instantly recognizable, and timeless French chic in all the olfactive creations – thanks to the talent of Master Perfumer Natalie Feisthauer (Michelyn’s Perfumer of the Years 2022 and 2021). Then we zoom in on details and observe the intricate tapestry of exotic spices with all the sensory richness and sense of abundance that can only be experienced in Dubai.  And, on top of it all, add a Tokyo minimalist, sleek, urban, and contemporary feel.

The founder, Rola Haddad, has infused much of her personality into the brand. Her experiences living in Paris, Riyadh, Dubai, and Geneva, and traveling the globe provided the inspiration and fervor she channeled into LÔR Paris. Before pursuing her passion for the world of fragrances, Rola worked for leading international advertising agencies. In 2017, she returned to Paris to create the brand and it was at this time that she connected with Nathalie Feisthauer.

A short introduction to the lineup, before we go on to sip our Oud Latte:

Dark Mimosa: a seemingly innocent powdery floral with some sensual musky curves. Veers into the cosmetic press powder smell that is my absolute catnip. The name makes me see it worn by a film noir heroine, a redhead with freckles and perfectly cut straight bangs, powdering her nose, all proper and poised, after just firing her gun.

Musc Fruite: fresh mouthwatering ripe berries, sparkling amber backdrop, and a fuzzy playful musk. Delicious joie du vivre, the juicy fruit carefree edition. It conjured up the last seconds of the movie  “Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain”, where Amélie and Nino are riding their bike through the streets of Paris.

Animal Doux: leathery, powdery, with a woody powerful texture infused with a resinous sweetness that very quickly becomes quite addictive.  Hot & cold, yes and no, the kind of fragrance that growls at you until it grows on you.

Petale de Oud: an interpretation of the classical oud–rose combo, build upon a come-hither musk that makes it airy, elegant, and easy to wear.

I must admit, I was attracted to the LÔR Paris stand at Esxcence 2023, even before smelling anything. Like Pepe le Pew, floating in mid-air, eyes open wide, I was called in by the awesome sleek visual appeal of the stand. The combination of white, black, mint green, and gold, the cool fonts, the symbols on the bottles, the proportions, everything was so spot on it brought out my inner Patrick Bateman, the wall street advertising agency edition. “Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark!”

LÔR Paris Fragrance Symbols, collage made by Nicoleta using official brand materials

A very cool idea is that Rola invented a new “perfume language”, decoding the very abstract language of scent description into a new visual form, so people would know what to expect just by looking at the bottle. Ten symbols represent the olfactive families found in the fragrances, and each bottle and sample has three symbols written on them. I also liked the fresh way of presenting the scents on the website, with no rabbit-out-of-the-hat storytelling, no olfactive pyramids, just focusing on the mood of the fragrance, and a couple of keywords, to set your expectations on the right track.

The bottles are sleek, heavy, and very tactile, almost like some sort of sensory fidget toy for perfume lovers, with symbols embedded on the side. When I saw them the first time my mind made an association I can’t shake off now  – as from afar they made me think of Reiki symbols. Reiki, the same as perfumery, deals with an invisible yet powerful impact on our senses. An ancient healing practice that believes energy can be transferred through touch, and with symbols that allow the practitioners to use focus on specific purposes. And whilst in most cases symbols only affect the subconscious, Reiki symbols harness and trigger specific energies, with intent playing a crucial role.  Fondling my bottle of Oud Latte and watching its symbols, it was pretty clear what path it was putting me on. The brand’s description short description sums it up perfectly: “Delicious, spicy, sweet, yet balanced. Charming with a strong presence and sharp character. Limitless, adventurous, and tender. You can’t help but want to get closer. Very versatile and adaptable.” LÔR Paris Oud Latte is all these things. A clean fluffy musk – elevated skin – smell that is soft and tender and blurs the edges of the spices. My mind jumps to the association of cardamom coffee here, but I just smell the hot white steam of the frothy milk and the spices sprinkled on top, not the bitterness of the coffee. The sweetness behind the milk is slightly toasted, so a tonka might be involved, next to a smooth vanilla. The oud is felt as a woody smooth base on which the whole airy construction stands, creamy, comforting, like a fluffy cashmere sweater that wears like a second skin.

Oud Latte LÔR Paris

AI-generated image & photoshop edit by Nicoleta

LÔR Paris Oud Latte is the kind of scent that keeps me anchored in reality, and dare I say, makes me romanticize it in a very laid-back and effortless way (like a layer of genZ-urban- zen that is quite a foreign concept to an overanalytical tormented old millennial soul like myself).

Strolling down a bustling city street, headphones with Tame Impala’s Borderline loud in my ears (yes, hipster core vibes) surrounded by a deliciously addictive robust blend of spicy and milky sweet aura. Feels like the first sip of a strong, perfectly brewed latte on a Monday morning – a jolt to your senses, followed by a relaxing hum.  Made my mind wander again, thinking of “brown noise”  also known as Brownian noise, a type of signal or noise that has higher energy at lower frequencies, resulting in a deep, bass sound that some people find calming or soothing.  This fragrance delves deeper into lower frequencies, exploring profound notes that are still soothing and grounding, despite their stronger repertoire. What we are left with is a personal, sensory bubble amidst a chaotic world that feels both comforting as a soft blanket and sleek and fashionable to be worn out proudly, with the stiffest upper lip.

Category: No pyramid communicated by the brand, just the olfactive categories: Ambery, Woody, Spicy

Notes perceived: sweet vanilla, roasted tonka, creamy woods, barista-level milk froth, iris ivory powderiness, fuzzy cashmere sweater, jazz background, and very clean, delicate, and fluffy musk with an airy presence

Thank you for the review, Nicoleta!
Not only does LÔR Paris Oud Latté’s vessel captivate me with its sleek original design, the juice inside really has my mind stirring and my nose so curious to explore this olfactive nectar!
Everything about this fragrance sounds so comforting yet chic. I love the idea of these beautiful notes creating an illustration that I would love to wear on myself.
The milky froth of a late paired with creamy woods, tonka and vanilla sounds so divine to me.

Nicoleta’s review of LÔR Paris Oud Latte has definitely sparked my interest! The combination of sweet vanilla, roasted tonka, creamy woods, and barista-level milk froth sounds incredibly inviting and comforting. The mention of a clean, delicate, and fluffy musk with an airy presence adds an intriguing twist. I’m also intrigued by the brand’s visual language and the symbolism embedded in their bottles. Overall, this fragrance seems like a unique and sensory experience that I would love to explore.

Thank you Nicoleta for a wonderful review. Before reading your article, I did not know much at all about LORS. From your introduction, you’ve piqued my attention about this brand. I like the presentation, the symbols for quick reference to the scents, and the notes (perceived). I’m ready for the olfactive journey that lies ahead with Oud Latte – sounds relaxing and fun, at the same time.

  • The notes of this outstanding fragrance spark my interest, also the bottle looks like a masterpiece. I’m a huge fan of latte coffee and it’s smell is just mesmerizing so this perfume must be addictive and delightful. I live in Trzebnica, Poland, EU.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Nicoleta said about this perfume: “it makes me romanticize it in a very relaxed and effortless way” as such it sparked my curiosity to investigate how romantic oud can be in this perfume.

  • What an interesting brand! Like Nicoleta, I am enthralled with their aesthetic. The bottle shape, the logo, and the “language” they created are all so unique, modern, and captivating. Oud Latte sounds really lovely. I have a “thing” with coffee in fragrances where I like the coffee to be a supporting note and sometimes even barely noticeable. I’m happy to hear Nicoleta state that this is much more focused on the frothed milk rather than the coffee itself. I like the sound of the oud in this one too, not too overpowering but still present. Definitely sounds like a winner. I live in NC, USA.

Innovative and evocative. I like it.Very interesting conceptual perfume house that I now look forward to spend time with the on skin sipping a latte burning oud chips!! Michigan USA

  • Nathalie Feisthauer + Oud + Latte? Call me intrigued! I also love this idea of a new language, or alphabet to talk about fragrance. Thanks for the great review and the draw! I’m in the US!

Hello from Florida, and thanks to Nicoleta for the review!

I loved the comparison to Brownian noise — I find it very comforting, and would hopefully experience this fragrance the same way.

  • Oh boy, Nicoleta is surely a great reviewer and this review is a true gem.
LOR Paris really made a gem in Oud Latte. I am really curious to try this one. I think that the mix of spices and the coffee note makes it so appealing to me. I really need to try this one since I am a huge coffee lover, both in perfumery and in the drink. I also love the bottles they use.
I hope I win this one, USA here

  • LÔR Paris Oud Latté looks like a cosmopolitan creation with inspiration from Middle Eastern exotic spices and Japanese minimalism. I am in US.

  • minteacup says:

LOR Paris Oud Latte sounds fun, it all adds up to something that’s not quite in my usual wheelhouse but has enough inviting familiarity to pique my interest. Fun review from my perspective as a tormented old millennial that relies on brown noise to get to sleep, haha. I appreciate that LOR takes the sleek minimalist branding/packaging trend but goes beyond “basic” by adding textural heft, intentional design, and a thoughtful visual language to it. I’m actually on the hunt for a soft background noise kind of scent that brings in iris powder but has enough flavor to perk me up when I tune in. I’m in the USA, thank you for the draw!

  • Laurentiu says:

The notes are really interesting here. Tonka, vanilla, iris and milk – they all sound yummy! Thanks!

  • As usual, Nicoleta’s review of LÔR Paris Oud Latte has sparked my interest in this fragrance. The blend sounds enticing and comforting. The incorporation of iris ivory powderiness and fuzzy cashmere sweaters creates a sense of luxury and softness. The mention of a jazz background adds sophistication and enhances the overall experience. The inclusion of a clean, delicate, and fluffy musk with an airy presence adds freshness and balance. LÔR Paris pays attention to the sensory experience, from the fragrance to the aesthetics and symbolism of their bottles. Overall, the combination of these elements makes LÔR Paris Oud Latte a unique and indulgent fragrance worth exploring.
    Sunny regards from the US

  • I like how LÔR simplified the concept of olfactive pyramid a little. Most of us who are not specialized noses can’t really decompose a pyramid to such a degree that we identify most of the noses and their sequence, and many times, reading an extensive list of notes just creates more confusion and expectations that aren’t fulfilled upon smelling the actual thing. On the other hand, we often hear people saying they would like a floral, musky or woody perfume, and it’s much easier for them to get oriented when the house itself presents its releases like that.
That being said, Oud Latté sounds like a beautiful fragrance, with its cozy musk, frothy milk foam and spices.

Thank you for this insightful review!
I enjoyed reading this piece so much. Diving into the world of perfumes is new, but being from South Asia, Oud is something we smelled amongst visitors at mosques. The smell would overwhlem the room in the most hypnotic way possible.
Also, being a latte lover, the combination sounds mesmerizing. A unique idea indeed.

  • Patricia R. says:

I’m captivated. Its good to see there is still true innovation in perfumery, as for the notes. Although I’m a different generation too, I’m intrigued by the genZ urban zen minimalistic tastes or the perception of it from the outside perhaps.
I like the sleek and slightly mysterious design of the bottle.
What I love most in the review is the “stiffest upper lip” phrase, which puts a smile on my face.

  • Nice review Nicoleta! Thanks for introducing us LÔR Paris, never heard of the brand neither smelled. Love the ida of linking Paris, Dubai, and Tokyo in the scents. Of course, having Mme. Feisthauer in the making is great as she is a genius. As you I liked the branding and the visual form of describing the perfume: no piramide, no endless bla-bla-bla stories, no list of components : couple of words to pick your attention and let your imagination fly free. Oud Latte would suggest the presence of loud oud and coffee and milk accord, but it is more and nothing like that. Spicy sweet but balanced…. balance seems to be at the center of the fragrance: the latte turns more to a frothy milk with spices on top. Soothing, comforting, grounding and close to the skin. Feeling embraced by the scent. I live in Spain, EU.

Another amazing review by Nicoleta and a great introduction into all LOR fragrances. What I liked about Oud Latté the most is that it “feels like the first sip of a strong, perfectly brewed latte on a Monday morning – a jolt to your senses, followed by a relaxing hum” and that “we are left with is a personal, sensory bubble amidst a chaotic world that feels both comforting as a soft blanket and sleek and fashionable to be worn out proudly, with the stiffest upper lip.”

I went straight to the LÔR Paros website and enjoyed so much looking at the bottles and reading about the moods of each fragrance. Oud latte sounds so cozy and comforting. I love what Nicoleta wrote about the scent anchoring her in reality, yet also allowing her to romanticize it in a laid back way. I have been deeply thinking about that quote, wondering how many fragrances that I own allow me to do that.
    I live in the USA.

  • Presentation is awesome. Bottles are beautiful. Oud Latte blend of spicy and milky sweet aura make me want to drink the fragrance. Sound like a great way to start the day with this one.

Thanks for the giveaway from the USA

  • Trinity33 says:

I agree with Nicoleta. I love the aesthetic of the LOR Paris line. The bottles are striking and the font and the glyphs representing the fragrance attributes (woody, powdery etc) are unique and visually appealing, The Oud Latte perfume in the ambery, woody, spicy category with its barista inspired coziness sounds like a perfect scent to cuddle up with. Really interesting new line and Natalie Feisthauer is a great perfumer to help launch it. MD, USA

  • Dubaiscents says:

I adore the presentation! And the fragrances all sound unique and right up my alley. Another brand to add to me to try list. It’s always interesting to me when someone has lived in such diverse places around the world. I’m sure Rola has incorporated her experiences into these scents with so much love. US

  • I am getting an idea of this being airy musky and milky, which really interest me as I have never own a milky fragrance, this perfume just sounds delicious.
Also the perfume language idea is so cool!

  • A toasted sweet kind of fragrance is what I really want to add to my collection. Thank you for the visual description, Nicoleta – hot white steam of the frothy milk and the spices sprinkled on top! I would love to drink my latte while wearing LÔR Paris Oud Latte!

I live in EU and I want to thank you for this chance!

  • cynthmarie says:

Wow, I love the way this is described. As a fan of musk, warm notes and coolness, this sounds incredible. Sometime you just want to be in your own comforting cloud and that bottle is very chic. In Texas.

  • I have been curious about LÔR Paris after learning of them from the Esxence articles earlier this year. I’m really intrigued by Dark Mimosa and Oud Latte. I also appreciate the aesthetic of the house; it is very sleek and modern. I love that the bottles have three symbols on them representing the olfactive families. It’s interesting that Nicoleta mentions the association with Reiki; I have actually been wanting to try Reiki recently! Anyway, I love Nicoleta’s description of Oud Latte. Her comments about clean, fluffy musk and cardamom coffee instantly make me want to try it. A spicy and sweet milky aura sounds so comforting and cozy right now. Nicoleta’s final paragraph about Oud Latte really speaks to me. I would love to own such a calming and grounding fragrance that’s still sleek. The perceived notes are all some of my most loved: vanilla, tonka, creamy woods, milk, powderiness, cashmere, and fluffy musk sounds incredible.

Thank you, Nicoleta, for the fantastic review, and thank you to LÔR Paris for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

  • Really enjoyed Nicoleta’s review along with the references. The thing that really caught my eye was first the symbols described in the review, and I have to say that these bottles are incredibly appealing aesthetically. The beginning comparable to a strong latte that develops into a warm of that like a cozy blanket has definitely caught my attention and I would love to try this fragrance. From US, TX.

  • AromaDulce73 says:

  • Nicoleta characterises LÔR Paris Oud Latté as a clean fluffy musk – elevated skin – smell that is soft and tender, comforting, like a fluffy cashmere sweater that wears like a second skin. That sounds so perfect!

  • LÔR Paris Oud Latte is not your usual coffee fragrance ,more sweet milk and steam than coffee actually. I like the woods , the right amount of spices and sweetness, and the “fluffy cashmere sweater” comforting properties of the fragrance.
With or without bass heavy music, Oud Latte is well suited for the rainy Spring days. More LÔR Paris please

  • Outstanding review by Nicoleta of LÔR Paris Oud Latté and what sparked my interest of Oud Latte is the delicious blend of spices and frothy milky aroma. A perfectly blended latte on a Monday morning to awaken me for the day. I am so interested in this fragrance. Thank you for this amazing giveaway. Greetings and gratitude from the USA!

  • Looking at the product images in this review, LÔR Paris really knows what they’re doing with branding and packaging. It’s a polished lineup. And while I’m not sure the perfume language symbols are going to take off, they’re a nice touch, and match the overall aesthetic well. Nicoleta’s description doesn’t make Oud Latte sound like a particularly coffee-focused perfume, but it’s take on frothy, sweet-spicy balance and the restrained oud both sound very easy to wear. I’m curious how this compares to For The Scent of It Oud Café, which I’d guess emphasizes the coffee more. Thanks for the detailed review.

    I’m in the USA.

  • wandering_nose says:

Thank you Nicoleta, for introducing us to the brand and its philosophy. There is nothing I do not like about LÔR Paris – love how it was born from the brilliant idea a wandering soul had, an idea to combine very different influences from various corners of the world in a marriage of classic, oriental and modern. The names of LÔR Paris fragrances, the bottles, the symbols meant to streamline the user’s understanding of what’s inside the flacons. Oud Latte managed to seduce me straight away with its fluffy frothy powderiness and the ‘elevated skin’ muskiness. Thank you from Dublin, Republic of Ireland, EU

  • Like Nicoleta’s review, I am incredibly drawn to the presentation. The bottle is very zen-like. It makes me think of the perfume bottle of Zen by Shiseido. Even the notes of the fragrance invoke a meditative like feel – comforting, relaxing and cleansing. I’m quite intrigued by this review, having never experienced anything before from this perfume house. I’d love to try this scent.

Rola Haddad withe her multicultural experience combined the exotic experiences of Dubai , Tokio minimalistic feel and the adventurous Paris in a brand , superb idea.

I’m intrigued to try Lor Paris “Oud Latte” for multiple reasons. I can like a lot of the coffee and/or latte fragrances on the market. I’d like to become familiar with a lot of the fragrances made by perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer. I think it’s interesting that it won an award and when Nicoleta described the wearing of it as: “surrounded by a deliciously addictive robust blend of spicy and milky sweet aura. Feels like the first sip of a strong, perfectly brewed latte”. I live in the U.S.A.

What sparks my interest based on Nicoleta’s review of LÔR Paris Oud Latté is discovering a new brand and the fact that brilliant Master Perfumer Natalie Feisthauer created the fragrance. I am very intrigued by the gourmand facets to it to include vanilla, roasted tonka, frothed milk, and I am assuming coffee since there is no official note breakdown. I am from the USA and would love the opportunity to try this fragrance.

I’m not a hipster, not into Reiki , and I had to Google “Tame Impala’s Borderline” … not my thing to be honest, but I’m a fan of Nathalie Feisthauer , and I’m into jazz music ,deep bass and coffee/Latte fragrances.
Even though I’m a fragrance nurd, LÔR Paris i was not aware of. The coffee/Latte in Oud Latte could be more in the background, and steamed milk on the front row, still I believe I’d enjoy the fragrance a lot.
Speaking of which , I’ll keep Oud Latte with some jazz flair , but I’d swap Tame Impala’s Borderline for the classic US3 Cantaloop .

Wonderful review! What sparks my interest based on Nicoleta’s review is learning that the fragrance combines a clean fluffy musk with the spicy yet steamy and frothy slightly toasted milk of cardamom coffee. I am not a huge fan of gourmand fragrances in general but coffee and milky fragrances that are not sweet are the exception to that rule particularly when they incorporate spices. So this sounds like a lovely “alternative” for me! I live in the US.

    1. Not a fan of this brand still using Oriental.
    2. I like the three word olfactory scheme, but the symbols don’t make sense to me at first glance.
    3. I love Natalie Feisthauer’s work (Aramis Havana) and the Poudre line and this fragrance sounds like a very nice take on an oud and coffee fragrance. I know that she specializes in musks and the addition of clean/fluffy musks in this fragrance is quite intriguing.

I’m excited about this house and what it is doing.
