Kajal LAMAR Review (Mark Buxton) 2020 + Liquid Gold DRAW

KAJAL LAMAR REVIEW

Liquid gold, known as “lamar” in Arabic, was used in many aspects of decorating artworks: in architecture, jewelry, and manuscript illumination. In the creation process of Kajal LAMAR, the brand engaged the versatile and renowned master perfumer Mark Buxton, (whose fragrances include Comme des garcons EDP , Le Labo Vetiver 46 and his own line of eponymous fragrances    to name a few). “My inspiration for Kajal LAMAR, was to create a rich, natural, warm, long lasting fragrance, by using high quality natural products.

Best fruit fragrances for men

 Fulfillment Gustav Klimt 1905 wiki

Journey from the self to the Self and find the mine of gold. Leave behind what is sour and bitter and move toward the sweet.”-RUMI

Before we get to Sebastian’s review, straight out this is a fruit-centric fragrance. It’s not Carmen Miranda fruity-much more urbane and sophisticated, with hints of spices (coriander and cardamom), a touch of toffee and rich rose. If you think these ingredients are for women perfumes only, perhaps you need to rethink your ideas of “gender” in fragrance. Mark Buxton was a great choice for perfumer as he’s able to balance the explosion of tart fruit (pineapple, bergamot, berries) with an ambery vanillic, honeyed base. And, as everything with Mr. Buxton -it is a true original. –Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

Wow there is a lot going on here! I love Sebastian’s reviews. Cardamom and coriander balancing out those fruits at the top sounds wonderful. “Fruits drizzled with vanilic dessert”?! Yes, please! Also, I love that bottle. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • Always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews. He’s so through and clear in depicting the scents. Cardamom is one of his favorite notes and this scent has it along with tart fruity notes and vanilla honeyed goodness! The name is appropriate! The bottle looks like liquid gold. I’m quite familiar with this house and really enjoy Kajal Jihaan. Based in the US

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

interesting vanilla spicy fruity and rich roses combination looks sophisticated and gourmet at the same time. I like the combination. I am from Eu Bucharest Romania

  • Superb bottle! I would be happy just to have an empty bottle for display, but I am sure that the liquid inside equals the bottle which holds it.
    Thank you!

  • What I enjoyed most about sebastian’s review was his detailed and informative insight into the fragrance , he is one of the reviewers who’s opinion I hold in the highest regard and he made it sound divine , so my curiosity is piqued!

I also really appreciated michelyns introduction as it is always so great and helpful to have another opinion and perspective on anything.

I’m only familiar with jihan from the house but I have several more samples that I need to try.

    I’m from Ireland.

  • I like Sebastian reviews! Michelyn opinion about Mark Baxton make me to try to find more perfume created by Baxton.
Oh..overdose of fruits, as Sebastian said with fruity rose!!! an with a touch of vanillic-woody touch sounds very interesting.
Unfortunately, I have not tested Kajal pefume.

Just picked up a decant of Lamar and Sebastian’s review was spot on.
It really is a fruity and fun fragrance that can be worn in many seasons imo.
The presentation is gorgeous as well.
Would love to be lucky enough to win the giveaway.

  • I always love these reviews from Sebastian. I have learned so much and always have the opportunity to participate in giveaways like this. It would be awesome if I got it because I have heard so many good things about this fragrance from TLTG reviews, but I have no experience with any Kajal Perfumes fragrances because I just don’t have the money to spend on it. I’m currently living in Ohio so let’s hope this fragrance loving college student wins this giveaway!

  • Thank you Michelyn for the intro and Sebastian for the review. I have a friend named Lamar and didn’t know it meant gold in Arabic, we learn everyday 🙂 Sebastian’s description as an explosion of fruits, vanilla and flowers piqued my curiosity and interest. I’ve watched a couple of reviews for Kajal fragrances but haven’t tried any yet. I’m in USA

  • Nouraldinho says:

Sebastian’s review definitely made me want to try out this fragrance and this brand in general. The name itself liquid gold is very intriguing. Michelyn mentioned the originality of this fragrance makes it worth the wait because everybody wants to smell unique. I am from Ontario, Canada. And I have never heard of Kajal before always a first for everything. Thank you

  • I’ve been following Sebastian for a few years now and his reviews never disappoint. He paints a vivid image of the note cycle and this particular fragrance sounds perfect. “Honeyed” suggests a comfort and warmth for those cold nights to come.
    From Scotland UK.

  • Sebastian is a very knowledgeable fragrance reviewer and you always learn something new from his reviews. I particularly like the depth of his review of Lamar and i kind of have an idea of what to expect if i wore the perfume.
Michelyn’s introduction was also great, showcasing the many wonderful creations of the perfumer.
I live in Shrewsbury in the UK, and i am familiar with some of Kajal’s fragrances as i recently ordered a fiddah discovery set.

  • worldofme92 says:

I have heard about this fragrance house, mainly because of Sebastian, but have been hesitant to try them out because of the unavailability of samples. Whenever I go on the site to buy the discovery kits they are always sold out. This fragrance and WAREK, which is the fragrance that peeked my interest, are the parfums that I would be most interested to try out. I love a nice fruity oriental or a seductive amber oud. With Michelyn describing Lamar as a fruit tart with a honey base explosion, who wouldn’t want to try it. Living in Texas, I think this would be a really good fragrance either towards the end of winter or summer, for me! I think I would thoroughly enjoy Lamer or Warek. Hopefully, I will get to opportunity to experience both!

  • MrPetrichor says:

Thanks for the review I sampled Kajal fragrances in Puerto Banus like Sebastián suggested and that paid off!

  • Henrik Biedenkopf says:

I loved how many facets the fragrance has, all those stages I goes through sound amazing and the presentation is a dream. I am a huge rose lover, so especially the heart sounds perfect.
I already tried my luck in another giveaway, when this fragrance launched, but wasn’t successful. I am familiar with the amazing Kajal Homme.
    Greetings from Germany!

  • MrPetrichor says:

  • Andre Merritt says:

Awesome review. This sounds like an excellent fragrance, totally up my alley.
Would love to win this bottle.

  • ok this seems strong enough for a man but the notes would indicate it’s for a woman! I love the masculine side of a boutique of flowers…i love when a Perfumer can turn flowers into a men’s style scent that won’t offend his or her friends!

  • Never enjoyed citrusy fragrances very much but this one sounds interesting as it contains the musk and amber that i like. Would love to see how well blended it is. As always love Sebastian’s review, his words bring the fragrance to life and it feels as if i could smell it.

  • Great review from Sebastian, as always. He really intrigued me as Michelyn did with the introduction. I never smelled Kajal’s perfumes. I hope this will be the first time. I’m from Italy.
    Thank you

  • I enjoy listening to Sebastian. He is an expert fragrance reviewer and I always learn something from his in-depth reviews.
This was a great review of Kajal Lamar. Now I have a good idea what to expect from the fragrance.

Michelyn’s introduction was also great, showcasing the many wonderful creations of the perfumer.

I own the legendary Kajal Homme and I would love to try Lamar.

  • impromptu1992 says:

Sebastian does a nice job of describing the fragrance as it evolves and he’s a nose I really trust. Gendered fragrance is so 1999. I’m not familiar with Kajal but it sounds intriguing and the bottle is stunning.
    From Texas with love
    Xoxo

  • It sounds like a wonderful concoction! Seb always does fragrances full justice with how in depth he goes with the creation and it shows how much he loves it and does a great job of describing the scent!

  • Itziar Fernández Goicoechea says:

What is there not to like!!! Starting with the name of the fragrance and the gorgeous bottle… I enjoyed Sebastian’s review as usual. Personally the fact that he really likes a fragrance is enough for me. But this time the breakdown of the notes and the description of the transition from top-heart-base sounded heavenly. Remarkable how similar his and Michelyn’s descriptions are. Both focus on the balance between the tart fruity aspect and the ambery vanillic. Both use the word original to describe this scent. The final impression of a golden, glowing and warm experience makes me so want to try this fragrance. Sadly I’ve never tried any from this house, and this would be a great chance. Please count me in for the giveaway. From Spain

  • I enjoyed how in Sebastians review when he mentioned the fruit notes he actually broke down what fruits he was perceiving such as passion fruit and pineapple along with the bergamot and orange. I always enjoy Sebastian breaking down the perfumes to make them more real to me before smelling them. I loved how Michelyn mentioned if people perceive the notes as feminine to reexamine their idea of gender in fragrances. I definitely agree I really enjoy unisex or gender neutral scents even that some may say lean feminine but if I love it I’m gonna wear it. They both mentioned they thought Mark Buxton was a great choice for Kajal to work with on Lamar and that he did a great job so it sounds like a hit to me! I don’t own any Kajal perfumes yet but have smelled Jihan which I enjoyed a lot. Thanks so much for the generous giveaway, from CT USA.

  • Both Sebastian’s Review and Michelyn’s Introduction afforded us the opportunity to truly visualise and experience the fragrance without actually holding it in our hands and smelling it ourselves. From Sebastian’s description and breakdown of the individual notes and description of how they all play & dance with each other in this concoction to Michelyn’s unique description of not just the notes, but the back story in relation to the use of liquid gold “Lamar” in telling and painting a picture of the whole experience was enjoyable and very informative of what to expect of the fragrance especially as I am not familiar with any of the Kajal Fragrances. I live in the United Kingdom.

  • Sebastian’s review was as quality as always, sufficient information that is made succinct and easy to imagine. The introduction by Michelyn is straightforward but interesting at the same time. I stay in Singapore and this is my first time hearing about Kajal Perfumes.

  • Sebastians review on this fragrance was pretty precise, he always makes sure to get straight to business and give you blunt opinions which I Love. Seeing the introduction mention the perfumer Max Buxton who worked on other brands that I love, I’m very ecstatic to try this. I love fruity and vanilla scented fragrances. I never tried this house before, but this bottle is the one I want to be aquatinted with going off of the notes ! Thank you for the detailed information on Lamar.

    I’m from NYC

  • Timothy Segal says:

Very nice video and intro. Sounds so delicious with the tart fruits, honey, flowers… Thank you for opening up minds for unisex fragrances that require an open mind! I love it how Sebastian can give a vivid impression of how the fragrances is experienced. Greetings from Belgium! I know of the house but have not smelled any of their offerings. I would love to get my nose on Kajal Homme!

  • Jason Beddoe says:

    From Canada.
Have heard of the Kajal brand but not yet tried any of the fragrances.

    Interesting combination of notes.
Don’t have anything remotely similar in my collection.

Sebastian has lead me to discover some of my favourite fragrances.
Will Kajal LAMAR become a new favourite? Fingers crossed for the draw.

  • Good evening I always enjoy Sebastian’s videos and I really like the time he gives to really talk about the fragrances and all the explanation very appreciated for me I think he is really cool
I hear a lot about the House of KAJAL on the fragrance community always good things but unfortunately I haven’t had a chance the smell any of Their fragrances
    I’m from Agadir Morocco ✌
    Thank you for the chance

  • babycristy456 says:

Sebastian’s description of Lamar really intrigued me, as you don’t normally hear of a rose-fruity combo. There are rose perfumes that take a sweet-rich approach (“jammy”), but I haven’t come across a rose fragrance that is heavy on the syrupy fruits and honey. That vanilla-toffee dry down makes me all the more excited.

  • sergetheexplorer says:

Great Review! I really like how he describes the fruity notes, cardamom. coriander, rose, magnolia, amber and vanilla. It sounds like an awesome combination and I cant wait to get to smell it.
I really like the whole presentation of the bottle.
I live in the US Virgin Islands. This is the first time hearing about this brand.

  • I didn’t know about Kajal’s house before watching Sebastian’s review. I loved that he compared it to “an after dinner treat”. He speaks my language, perfumes are for me a pure delight of life. I can’t wait to smell Lamar, it’s apparently a mix of fruitiness, rose and spices, such an exotic journey!
I’m French but I leave in California with my husband. Of course, I love and collect perfumes, and can’t wait to be able to travel again to see new places and smell new creations.

  • Mahmoudreza Taghizadeh says:

As a Middle Eastern who missed home everything bout this brand keep me following the new perfumes all tho my favorite is kajal homme,Hopefully i pick it up one day, the bottle design is eye catxhin n sebastian always give enough infos

  • Sebastian’s review of Kajal “Lamar” caused me to think that the fragrance is original, and that it doesn’t disappoint. Both Michelyn’s intro. and S.’s review caused me to be interested in trying perfumer Mark Buxton’s work. S’s review made me interested in trying a fruity, floral oriental and the “fruity rose.” I’m also interested in smelling how it settles to a vanillic/woody/toffee/ambery smell. I live in MD.,U.S.A. I became familiar with Kajal just this year when a certain fragrance reviewer said that Kajal’s “Lamar” “smells expensive and it is expensive.” Since I first heard about it I’ve thought that it would be excellent and interesting to own it, use it, and to see what it’s like but at this time in my life I cannot afford it.

  • Thank you for the introduction to this stunning fragrance. From Michelyn I learned the origin of the word Lamar, which alone gives an insight to what inspired Mr. Buxton to create this scent. I appreciated Sebastian’s detailed breakdown of Lamar’s top, heart, and base notes while also describing the feeling of the composition as a whole. This confection-drizzled fruit and floral sounds absolutely luxe. Not to mention that bottle, wow. I am in the US and new to Kajal. Thank you for the generous draw.

  • I had a friend in college named Lamar who said his name meant “the sea.” Michelyn’s information in the introduction has helped me learn something new today about the name, Lamar. Based on Sebastian’s excellent description (as always) this fragrance sounds very nice, especially for this time of year. Thanks for offering the giveaway. Watching from Pennsylvania, USA.

  • Hi everyone! My name is Saeed now I’m studying in Russia and I don’t that is already enough to miss my comment and go further but I would ask u to read it till the end cause it is important for me, but it is not just because of the giveaway but I am really thinking about to give up everything else my education work and to dive into the world of scents. About a year ago got the fragmental infection and now the only thing that I’m doing is walking through fragrance stores reading articles and watching reviews and I decided to dedicate my life to develop the industry I have certain strategy to make it during all the time of ideas I was afraid to talk to anyone about it But now I’m on the level when I am accumulating energy from support of my friends and like-minded people. So please if u read it till the end Thank you and remember my name cause if you are really into the game you will definitely hear about

  • I really agree with Michelyn. Fruity and floral can be beautifully crafted for both sexes.

I already had a sample of Dahab which is simply one of my favorite fruits, even though I don’t really like passion fruit lol

I love fruity fragrances precisely because they are so versatile on my skin. They always make me happy and energized

I’ve been watching Sebastian’s channel for many years. In that review he said that the fragrance is unique. This is definitely my favorite part. Coming from someone I have followed for years and has so many fragrances it means a lot.

This is a fragrance that is definitely on my radar. I really hope I can win

  • Kajal Homme has gotten quite a bit of talk already, but this one is sure to steal the limelight very soon. Absolutely love the blingy bottle. Interesting that Sebastian gets tropical fruits in the opening, although like Michelyn intimates, the spices very well make this unisex. Just like every other scent! And what’s this about being drizzled with a vanillic dessert? Sounds like an exquisite fruity concoction. Delicious indeed and like Seb says, wonderful for this time of year. Incidentally, I did play Lamar in a production of Godspell in highschool so….I suppose that makes me fruity too. Canada

  • Jay Jay Olano says:

I always watch Sebastian reviews and talking about an Oriental-Floral Fragrance which i like it makes me more excited to try.
These combinations of roses and fruit is fantastic.
I’m also surprise about the toffee note that i never smelled in a fragrance before.
Like Michelyn said, we have to rethink the idea that fragrance have “gender” based on the notes.
I had the chance to have a bottle of “Dahab” that i have finish, it was a fantastic oriental floral that last the whole day. And i’m sure this will be great too.
Hope to try this amazing Perfume.

    Saluti da Milano, Italia.

  • Btw I also wore dehab and our homme nice ones
But I think this one will be the best. According to review and even the presentation is also gorgeous.
Unfortunately I think it will not be available in Russia for so long period (

  • Again one more new house to me. But Mark Buxton is pretty much my main theme of olfactory exploration recently. The bottle reminds me of an installation I saw in a museum recently, and I’m surprised it’s a fruity. I haven’t had a Mark Buxton that’s fruit-centric yet or anything tart at all. It’s also intriguing how the spicy parts are going to blend with the fruitiness. Hope to have the chance. (USA)

  • Love rose and cardamom love vanilla notes and very surprised how these notes will fit together. In Texas and this is my first intro to Kajal.

  • I enjoyed how to the point both Sebastian’s and Michelyn’s reviews are. The introduction of the perfumer and what other prominent works he has done before really helped give me an idea of what kind of scent and fragrance DNA I should expect. I am not too familiar with Kajal but am hearing lots of great things about this brand! I am from Singapore.

  • This is great, since i tried to get involve into niche fragrances I discover Sebastian`s chanel and that was all i need to know what i want as a scent. Thank you Sebastian for the draw and for the review of this Interesting fragrance. Ufff that bottle design is Crazy! I`m from Argentina, please excuse my English!

  • Viviana Mudd says:

The bottle alone is a work of art. I have the one that’s just “Kajal” and I love it and people always ask me about it and have to write it down lol.

  • The introduction from Michelyn with the beautiful gold bottle of this fragrance was so nice I had to go look at the video right away. I like Sebastian’s videos a lot. He really does note breakdown so well. I love the fruity spicy aspect of this fragrance. And the bottle is stunning. I do know about Kajal Perfumes, but I haven tried any of them yet. Hope that will change soon! I’m form Illinois, US.

  • I loved the review very much, Sebastian explains everything very well about the perfume. I learned a lot from him about perfumes. I was not very familiar with the Kajal brand but after watching the review from Sebastian I learned a lot more about the brand and this new perfume ”Lamar”. And I would like to add it to my collection.

    Greetings from Holland.

  • Smelling Great Fragrance is the only channel that I subscribe with loads of channels on Youtube. Because his way of developing scents really fits me.
Winter is coming but ironically I’d like to swim on the fruit-full pool and feel touch of spicy ones. It makes me really curious that how those contrary to each other matches. Thanks Kajal for participating good chance. I’m in South Korea.

  • Kiet Truong says:

It’s great that Michelyn mentioned that, guy can wear this as well. But nonetheless, as a guy, I also wear fragrances that targeted women since I only care about the smell rather than the gender.
I have heard of this house but none of the fragrances has peaked my interest. Sebastian mentioned vanillic desert and I immediately intrigued, aside from other notes that are some of my favorites like Ambroxan, Saffron and Fruity. Toffee also sounds nice as well. Sebastian also very thorough as well, wished he also includes longevity and projection too. Howdy from Texas, US

  • Quotation from a Sufi like Mevlana gives a clue of how sophisticated the perfume is. In this manner, I must say that I found the introduction quite sensational. Apart from that, the youtube channel of sebastian is the most reliable channel although it is not the funniest one:) Lastly, I have been hearing the name of the brand a lot lately, but I cannot say that I am very familiar because I am not able to afford the fragrances. Greetings from Germany.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the great review Sebastian. I appreciate the on the fly take on the notes,

I’ve heard about this house but it’s way outside my budget

Michelyn – I love your take on fruit centric fragrances being gendered. I love fragrances that use fruits in fun way and fragrances should never be gendered.

The Cardamom in the top is a sell for me. I love the thought of having passion fruit and the other tart notes.

I don’t know if this is my type of fragrance, but an interesting one nevertheless.

    Cheers form WI, USA

  • Are the citrus gourmand the new unknown territory to explore? Widely blended in Eastern attars and Mukhallats fruity citric in combination with gourmand notes and sweet flowers are a succesful marriage and inverting the pyramide to allow them to become the base notes instead of the top middle notes is even more interesting. Some succesful examples are Bond N9 New Haarlem and Frapin’s Paradis Perdu.
Sebastian Jara’s review is like seeing Carmen Miranda’s colorful fruit turban with the Chiquita banana costume passing by.
We love exotism and tropicalia lifestyle and Kajal LAMAR by Sebastian it just inspires all those clichés and the desire to smell all those fruty accords blended with moth watering edible notes.
The bottle desig deserves also to be mention;luxurious, sumptuos, epicurean, dimensional, architectonicatly Islamic and covered in Gold symbolizing presige and luxury and is associated with the wisdom of aging and justice. From Ireland,EU.

  • Zachary Ari says:

Hello! I love watching Sebastian’s videos. He knows and understands first and foremost that fragrances are a subjective experience. His breakdowns of my two favorite fragrances really drew me into his channel, and since then I have grown to respect and trust his nose.
His description of Lamar got me excited, as I have been wanting to broaden my horizons with a fruity fragrance next.
I’m not familiar with Kajal, other than reviews from Sebastian.
I live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

  • Great review by Sebastian! I’m a fan of Mark Buxton’s fragrances and was excited to learn he created Lamar for Kajal. Marigold is one of my favorite notes! Thanks for another great draw! Mich USA

  • Mohamed Serour says:

I thoroughly enjoyed how passionate he is about Lamar, as an Egyptian the notes he described bring me back to the fields of luscious roses by the nile basin. I am getting married in 2 months and I would love to have this on I’m sure my wife would love it and I would have a piece of home with me here in the states.

  • judesis ilangilang says:

I enjoyed the most in Sebastian’s review is the knowledge about the fragrance at hand.
It is always a learning but yet exciting experience every time. The way he picked every notes in the composition. I can feel the passion Sebastian has in the perfumery world.
In Michelyn Camen introduction, what I really like about it is to know about the word LAMAR in Arabic, and the use of it in different aspects in life.
I live in Long Beach, California USA.
I am only familiar with DAHAB from this house and acquired a decant which I enjoyed. In my opinion this is a bottle worthy.
    Thank you

  • Great review Sebastian. The fruit, vanilla and rose in an interesting starting point for a Mark Buxton fragrance. I have Le labo Vetiver and would love to try his take on this palette of notes. Love the bottle! I’m not familiar with Kajal Perfumes. Commenting from MD, USA.

  • Lamar sounds wonderful. I liked Sebastian’s take. Although I heard it had woody aspects. Fruity tart with my favorite note pineapple in addition to passsion fruit, some floral with a base of amber and honeyed vanilla sounds awesome. I love these type of scents. Thank you Kajal for bringing this composition. USA

  • Sebastian reviews are great, most of his recommendations ended up my favourite too. Michelyn inputs are good to know. I have heard about the brand, yet to try them, especially this one since oriental floral is my favourite. I live in Sweden.

  • Well first of all, the bottle looks absolutely gorgeous. Second of all, Sebastian has a really good nose for ambery oriental fragrances so I trust him already describing this as an ambery honeyed blast of tropical fruits. Michelyn taught me an arabic word and most importantly seconds Sebastians opinion so I’m all in! I have not had the chance to try any of the Kajal perfumes but I’m definitely interested in them. I live in The Netherlands.

  • Hello,
I really enjoy the in-depth reviews done by Sebastian on YouTube. I picked up a bottle of Dior’s Feve Delicieuse on his recommendation and enjoy it a lot. I am Indian cardamom is very close to my heart. I absolutely look forward to this spicy and friuty fragrance. In Massachusetts.

  • Kajal fragrance house is amazing, from the presentation to the scent itself.
Saw Sebastian’s review and made me interested to win or actually own my first Kajal fragrance.

  • Kajal house is amazing, from the presentation to the scent itself.

  • isaaclopedia says:

I’ve never heard of Kajal before, but that bottle is beautiful! The Klimt was a great addition to the intro for this fragrance. And I appreciated seeing the perfumer’s previous works, I love vetiver by le labo. Sebastian’s review was great as always, when he said it smelled like tropical fruits and flowers drizzled with honey I was sold! Would love to smell this one.

    California, USA

  • Lamar sound great! I don’t think I’ve gotten to try a fragrance with lots of fruit and rose, so I’m interested. I always like how Sebastian gives you an idea of what kind of rose to expect and how sweet or, in this case, juicy it may be. I appreciated how Michelyn said to rethink gender, because most of my favorite scents are totally unisex. I hadn’t heard of this house before this and will definitely look into Kajal in the future. Thanks for the chance to win. From Idaho, USA

  • Monica Beaton says:

Beautifully written Michelyn, and another great informative review from Sebastian. There is so little in today’s life that feels as decadent as a wonderful fragrance and one laced with spice, sweetness and richness is so pampering. I believe the days of masculine and feminine fragrances is over – wear what you love, what makes you feel beautiful, and enjoy! Life is short! I live in Australia.

  • I love that Sébastien is so thorough with his reviews and honest. He breaks down the true notes but also explains what he personally can pick up. I’m so excited for this launch and liquid gold noone can go wrong.

  • Lamar seems like a gourmand fruity floral. I am aware of Mark Buxton’s creations and he is particularly good at abstract compositions. This seems like a different style from his usual creations for Comme des Garcons and even his own brand. I must say I have yet to smell a relatively warm oriental composition from Buxton so excited for this one. Thanks for draw. USA

  • I enjoyed the introduction on liquid gold as well as the description of this luscious, genderfluid fragrance. I always love roses with touches of spices. I haven’t tried this brand but I am very curious about it. In the USA.

  • Andrei Artimon says:

Never got the opportunnity to smell something from this house , from wjat Sebastien says this would be right uo my alley , new york , usa .

  • I’ve been wanted to smell on this particular fragrance, Lamar by Kajal for the last few weeks. And Sebastian did really good reviews on it, and makes me want to smell it even more.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I always appreciate Sebastian’s reviews, as he always lays out the nuances of each fragrance so nicely. And so did, Michelyn.

As Sebastian and Michelyn laid out the fragrance, I could only think of a super-fruity version of By Kilian Back to Black (even though comparison is the thief of enjoying the fragrance on its own merits). Definitely want to get my nose on this.

From reviewers, I am familiar with, and desire to try, several Kajals – – Sawlaj, Homme, Dahab, Jihan and Yasmina.

I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • I m so happy Kajal came up with another fruity wonder. I ve used dahab for years which is up to this date one of the most beautiful fruity fragrances that I have ever smelled and because of Sebastian s review I bought jihan as well, a really good rose composition.
If it is as sweet and fruity as Sebastian described it , Lamar would deffinetly be right down my alley, I can t wait to give this fragrance a sniff. In terms of sillage I trust Kajal as they make quite some monsters and if it s bordering the gourmand territory with that toffy in the base i bet it s amazing.

I love the House of Kajal. Being an Indian, I can connect to your floral blends particularly. They are extremely high quality and I have 4 till date including Pour homme, Dahab, Joorie and Jihan. Would love to own this one and it is on top of my wishlist. Sebastian’s stamp of approval is an added bonus. Thanks

  • I like how Sebastian describes notes and the fragrance itself. After this review, I guess that everyone would want to try Lamar.
And I love Michelyn’s statement, that ‘If you think these ingredients are for women perfumes only, perhaps you need to rethink your ideas of “gender” in fragrance’. I don’t believe in gender in perfume and always tell this to everyone.
I am familiar with wonderful bottles of Kajal, but haven’t tried the juices yet.
    I live in Lithuania, EU.

  • I have followed Sebastian on YouTube for a while and absolutely enjoy his review . He is such a genuine gentleman. I have watched his other kajal house reviews. I am a big fan and enjoy fruity notes and those spices specially the cardamom.I have never had anything toffee. I would love to give this go and that presentation is pure class !
Thanks for the draw and I am from England. Stay safe

  • First of all, thank you Sebastian and Michelyn for the opportunity to win this gorgeous bottle. I found Sebastian’s review to be vivid, yet concise. Michelyn, the artwork you used in the introduction is very neat. The fragrance sounds like a real treat, quite literally. I am not familiar with the brand outside of this scent. Michigan, USA

  • theronmwilliams says:

I really enjoyed the how Sebastian was able to describe how the fruity, floral, and spice notes come together creating the perfect fall fragrance. I am from the US and I am unfamiliar with Kajal fragrances.

  • Maria Gialouri says:

What a gorgeous bottle, suits perfectly the name of the fragrance! The perfume from Sebastian’s review sounds mouthwatering!! blasts of fruits with base of vanilla and toffee? Would love to have a bottle of this gem, seems right up my alley!!! I’m in Greece

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always so detailed! He is so knowledgeable when it comes to notes and descriptions of fragrances! I like how Michelyn’s Introduction gave a little backstory on the name chosen for the fragrance. Michelyn description of the fragrance definitely makes me want to get my hands on it! All I can think of now is someone sitting next to a vase of fresh roses while eating a fruit parfait with vanilla flavored yogurt and honey drizzled on top…YUMMY!! “Michigan”

  • not Carmen Miranda fruity-much more urbane and sophisticated, with hints of spices (coriander and cardamom), a touch of toffee and rich rose. Intrigued by the notes that Sebastian describes Coriander, Cardamom and intrigued by the basenotes especially honey and vanilla adds to feeling of liquid gold just as the bottle and juice alike. A house that I am familiar with. Thanks a million from United Kingdom

  • Liquid gold, known as “lamar” in Arabic, was used in many aspects of decorating artworks: in architecture, jewelry, and manuscript illumination. I am intrigued by Sebastian description of the base vanillic frut dessert. I am by the fruity, spicy and vanilla and honey in the base. A house that I am familiar with and Mark Buxton one of my favourite perfumers does this justice by the gorgeous juice. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • I do not think I have tried something done by Mark Buxton, but from the reviews I saw and read, I noticed that he does no concessions when it comes to keeping the fragrance at a high artistry level. Lamar has some interesting notes and I think I will like it. Thank you kindly! Europe

  • Jtscheepers says:

Lovely review as usual from Sebastian. Definitely my favorite fragrance Youtuber. I love how he explains the fragrance as a fruity, honeyed dessert. Sounds like an awesome fragrance.

Michelyn, what a lovely explanation, you painted such a lovely fragrance. I’m male but this fragrance definitely does not scare me away. Doesn’t matter who the perfume is marketed for, if it smells good then I’ll wear it.

I’ve seen Kajal all over YouTube and Instagram, they seem very intriguing, however; they are not available where I am to sample really
    Would love to try them.

I’m from Cape Town, South Africa.

  • 傑西卡TW says:

The first time I heard Kajal on Sebastian’s channel, I had a review about Jihan. My first impression was the beautiful bottle. I received MAXAROMA’s email a few days ago and I got information about the new launch that is LAMAR. When I saw it Only the quantity 1 is left, and it is sold out after a few minutes of consideration. I hope I can have good luck to get it, I am in Taiwan

  • I love the way Sebastian goes into his reviews with relevant information, everything you need to know and more while keeping the viewers interested in what he has to say. The best reviewers are the ones that are informative and entertaining and I believe that Sebastian fits that very well!

  • Hashim Madani says:

From Sebastian’s description, what’s most appealing about Lamar are the delicious-sounding vanillic honeyed fruit facets. Michelyn’s reassurance that Lamar is ‘a true original’ is a relief. Our noses are getting tired of copies of copies of copies in the fragrance world. Jihan, Yasmina and Dahab are on my must sample list. VA, USA.

  • Iuno Feronia says:

A sophisticated and urban fruity, this sounds to be a real Beauty for me. Cardamom ist cool, coriander as well, mixed with Pineapple and berries, I would like to taste this. Thanks for the draw.

  • Andrei-Cristian Radescu says:

I’m really glad that Sebastian made a review about this one since I’ve heard about it lately and I wanted to find out more about it. Like most of his reviews, I really enjoyed the way he describes the notes combination and the smell that they evoke.
As for the introductions, the insights and the symbolism are quite interesting and I loved finding out about them and the meaning behind a fragrance in general.
I know some Kajal frangrances since they are present here in Bucharest, Romania, and I’m quite impressed with their work.

  • Sebastian is on point again and this one really sounds very interesting!! A beautiful bottle and I love the combination of vanilla and spicy fruity and roses with cardamom and coriander. Would really love to win this. Living in the EU

  • Santiago Rodríguez says:

Sebastian’s review has been incredible, as always. I haven’t had a chance to try Lamar, but with all those delicious notes I’m sure I’m going to love it. Thanks for the gift. Greetings from spain

  • This perfume sounds delicious! I love Sebastian’s video reviews, keep them coming!
    Many thanks!

  • I love Sebastian’s reviews, I like how descriptive he is without being pushy. I love the bottle of this fragrance, and as I am from Bulgaria, I am really curious about otherworldly interpretations of the Bulgarian rose.

  • It looks very interesting complex scent, I binge watching sebastian review because I feel I need a new scent in my collection.

And this one pretty much tinged my curiosity, especially since I live in Indonesia, and always love try a niche perfumes, and also like the review said, the smell is delicious like a dessert after dinner

I am wondering how it’s turn out if you wear this perfume in a tropical country.

  • Ajith Shenoy says:

I have never tied a Kajal. Not seen them much around here in india. I really enjoy sebastians reviews and videos . His passion for perfumes shows in each of his videos. Kajal is a brand I am would love to start exploring and smell and wear. Especially After this great review and note break down. Fruity Oriential!! Sounds so good.

  • Interesting combination of Vanille and cardamon. Sebastian gave an details yet interesting review. I haven’t had a chance to try Kajal’s yet. I’m from Vietnam

  • I’m not familiar with this brand, but Kajal LAMAR sounds very great from the base of Sebastian’s review. I very like the notes and the description. I love the bottle, looks so luxurious. The review is also nice. I would be so glad if I would be the lucky winner. Thank you for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • I trust Sebastian’s review a lot, I watched the review to learn different types of smell and names. It’s quite unique fragrance as a fruity & rosy smell. I will purchase one for my mom’s present for Christmas. I think she would love this fragrance, and I hope it will pleased her with her new perfume. I’m From United Kingdom

  • Amanda32828 says:

Omg what a beautiful bottle! I don’t have anything in my small collection this beautiful. Truly this is an enchanting bottle. I’m loving Sebastian review and Michelyn’s introduction like always, although this bottle is the perfect summary to a magnificent perfume. Can’t wait to try this. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this draw. Commenting from Orlando, Fl USA

  • What I love about Sebastian is that he introduces a vast range of fragrances instead of just focusing on a certain type of brand or olfactive group. Michelyn’s introduction brings another wonderful perspective to this fragrance and brings out the urge in me to want to own one bottle of this “liquid gold”. Although I cannot imagine the smell of Lamar but I’m sure it will be exceptional as it was created by Mark Buxton, who also created the most amazing vetiver 46. I am based in Australia and I am very unfamiliar with Kajal Perfumes as there aren’t many channels here to get access to Kajal Perfumes; however, I would really love to try all of the fragrances from this house as I have heard Sebastian mention Kajal Perfumes in his video many many times!

  • Fruit bomb! With coriander and cardamom, heart made of roses, and a dry down of toffee. It’s bomb of jolly and good vibes.
I love Rumi’s thought about sweetness of life 🙂 and Sebastian explained very well how the scent transforms.
I am not familiar with Kajal Perfumes. I live in Romania.

  • flosolentia says:

I love how simpl Sebastian describes a complex scent. His reviews help me, a person with a good imagination, without smelling perfume, to say whether I like this thing or not. I have already tried Kajal – pour Homme and Dahab. They seemed to me very bright, powerful, oriental. The fact that one of my favorite perfumers had a hand in this fragrance makes this fragrance even more desirable. I am from Russia, Moscow.

  • fragrance.kifestyle says:

As always a stunning new perfume realise brought to my attention by the lovely Sebastian over at smelling great. That toffee note paired with cardamom sounds delightful. A subscriber from the uk. No stockist of kajal anywhere near me very excited !

  • As always, Sebastian has a distinct way of speaking about perfummes in a way that a viewer can almost smell it themselves. This was also one of his better reviews, peppered with enthusiasm about the perfumme which is contagious! As for the Kajal, I had a decant of Kajal Homme which I gave to father who was enamored with it and asked me the price of the perfumme when he finished the decant. Being a person who grew up in different conditions, mainly in a communist country, he can’t put himself to spend that much money on a perfumme. That is why I’m participating in this giveaway since his birthday is in beginning of december and this would be an amazing present, at least I think so! 🙂 And seeing Kajal on the box would be an unforgettable present for him!

  • Thanks for the detailed review from Sebastian. I like that there are so many different ingredients: rose, flowers, fruits, and spices. Knowing the minimalist style of Mark Buxton, it would be interesting to try this fragrance too.

    UK, Wisbech

  • Pineapple, vanilla and rose? Yes, I’d like to see what Mr. Buxton does including those notes. I wasn’t familiar with the brand until now. Michelyn’s last line, “And, as everything with Mr. Buxton -it is a true original”, has me wanting to try. US

  • Cardomom, vanilla, and spices sound wonderful on this rainy cool morning in North Texas. And that bottle! Thanks for a clear review, Sebastian. USA

  • This sounds so interesting and it isn’t something that would normally catch my eye. I loved when Sebastian said “where’d the toffee come from?!?” during the list of notes–you could tell he was really happy with this fragrance. I think Michelyn’s comment about rethinking “gender” in fragrance applies to all fragrances these days. I’m not sure gendered terms are useful for scent. Thank you for the review & the draw. I’m in the US and I’ve never tried this house. Those bottles!! So beautiful!

  • Fruity Floral Oriental. Count me in? Sebastian and I both love cardamom and his description really is tantalizing. I also appreciate that he follows the same structure in each of his videos. That makes it easy to follow. Sebastian’s review combined with Michelyn’s introduction and the name liquid gold all have me drooling. I am in the U.S.

  • Thanks for this! The intro was great since I learned what the term Lamar means. I enjoyed Sebastian’s review and his description of the rose. I love Bulgarian rose! I’m not very familiar with this house! I live in Canada.

  • Hey you’re on my turf now 🙂
Being a Pastry Chef i absolutely love gourmands . After watching Sebastian video I was instantly reminded of me making, and eating Vanilla Cake with strawberries and pineapple. I do it almost every day at my bakery.
Don’t want to advertise my bakery, but if you Google “Vanilla Cake with strawberries and pineapple” one of the first pictures is of my cake 😉
I so want to win Lamar
Appreciate Sebastian review, and the giveaway campaign
    USA

  • Sebastian’s review made me want to try it – fruit, vanilla an cardamon sound lovely. I agree qith Michelle’s remark about Mark Baxton being the right nose for this perfume. I haven’t tried any Kajal perfumes yet.
    I’m in Slovenia.

  • I really enjoyed from Sebastian’s review of how as the fragrance progresses, the base becomes very honeyed, ambery and vanillic which are notes I really love. From the introduction, I also really love the connection of Kajal Lamar to that of liquid gold and also to Gustav Klimt’s paintings who would use gold leaf to a brilliant and dazzling effect. I expect this fragrance to do just that but olfactorily rather than visually. I am not very familiar with Kajal fragrances so this would be something I am very interested in trying in the future.
    I live in Florida, US.

  • Sebastian is not only a reviewer to me he’s also an educator… I’ve learned so much from him over the years about perfumery, fragrance and brands. Michelyn Camen, brilliantly mixes the history of the name of the fragrance with the backstory of the perfumer… Like Sebastian giving more than a simple overview and I appreciate that. .. I live in Tennessee… And I’ve sample just about everything for the house of Kajal including Lamar which I just received a few days ago. The house never disappoints…

  • Loved the intro by Michelyns and found out the meaning of Lamar. Then Sebastian review was a great one and to the point, as I am also his subscriber as well and used to visit his channel frequently to decide about any fragrance purchase.
I love notes of Lamar pineapple and bergamot and love to get giveaway to enjoy this amazing fragrance as in Pakistan it’s difficult to get hands-on this brand although there is a buzz out here regarding kajal.

  • Kajal is underrated house imo . I’ve smelled or sampled all prior Lamar . If i have to rate my favorite 3:
1.Kajal Homme , versatile fragrance, pleasing and elegant .
2.Dahab , mouthwatering juicy fragrance. Very different compared to Homme , way more playful.
3.Fiddah, changeling one depending on the weather. When it’s hot it’s sweeter Leather with jelly ranchers , but when it’s cold or raining I get also prominent mix of burning tobacco and ashtray.
If you big on performance, Dahab is significantly stronger than Homme are Fiddah.
I have really high expectations for Lamar, juicy fruity ambery gourmand. I need to get a sample as soon as possible
    Thanks a lot.
Virginia USA , or London UK/EU … at least 97/100 times.

  • The only Kajal fragrances I knew were Jihan and Dahab, but I have never smelled any of them. After seeing Sebastian’s review, I’m drooling for Lamar, it sounds so delicious like a fruity turkish delight.
I learned Lamar means liquid gold. And as Michelyn stated on the gender in fragrances, I think like her, I don’t care about if this fragrance sounds feminine, I’m a man and I would love to wear this liquid gold scent.
    Kind regards from Mexico.

  • Zoran Loncarevic says:

I love Sebastian’s reviews. This fragrance seems to be a real star. The ingredients sound wonderful and the bottle looks fantastic. Great giveaway .
    Greetings from Germany.

  • Awesome description by Sebastian about this perfume starting out as a fruity blast balanced by spices. progressing on rosey territory and fading to a vanillic / honeyed fruit accord. I also very much appreciated Michelyn explaining the meaning of the word “lamar” to us. I live in Europe and would love to try this fragrance from a house I am still unfamiliar with. Thanks.

  • fruity floral oriental as Sebastian defined is my cup of tea. Some sweetness with citrus with a fruity rose heart. i wish the saffron to be more prominent.I really want to try this one out.Amazing looking bottle as well

My Name is Cyril from South Africa , Johannesburg, Meredale suburb, always a fan to Sebastian videos, great product and presentation pity these good products are not accessible to Africa or South Africa but that doesn’t stop me keeping informed with fragrance knowledge, style , and trend. Good product would appreciate to own one and smell niche

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Appreciate Michelyn’s background on the inspiration behind this fragrance and, of course, Sebastian’s in-depth review of the scent journey. Ross from TLTG reviews also highlighted this fragrance and the positive appeal seems to be unanimous. This house has burst on the scene with some highly hyped juices which I’d love to get my nose on. Thanks for the opportunity of the giveaway! Best from Virginia, USA.

  • Last year on our anniversary my husband brought me to Paris. On the exact day we went to Montmartre, and I ate the best eclair in my life, speculoos eclair with red fruits and pineapple. The name of the place was “Pain Pain” .
Sebastian take on Lamar was so vivid , felt like I’m in Paris eating eclairs again, with the rose hubby bought on the table, almost started drooling Liquid gold called Lamar I need to try
    Thanks for the giveaway
USA most of the year, and Germany from time to time

  • I liked how in Michelyn’s introduction of Kajal LAMAR she discribed Lamar “more urbane and sophisticated, with hints of spices (coriander and cardamom), a touch of toffee and rich rose”. This creation of Mark Buxton so heavenly beautiful, the KAJAL LAMAR golden Bottle so Perfectly artistically splendid and, I’m pretty sure I would love this fragragrance because what I heard from Sebastian’s YouTube review: “an after dinner treat” , unique fruity Rose -pure divine Olfactive enjoyment to my taste! Thank you, greetings from Florida USA

  • Enjoyed the video by Sebastian. I’m liking this one so far. I mainly get a cotton candy pineapple scent with the spices being quiet in the background. Kajal has some really nice looking bottles too. Thanks for the draw, Ca

  • I have been dying to try a Kajal perfume. To be honest, almost every review from Sebastian makes me want to own every perfume, however Lamar ticks all the boxes with the honey, fruity gourmandness! I love perfumers who use natural scents, I’m often anosmic to the molecule based ones. We’re getting a bit of a frag community going here in New Zealand and this would be fabulous to share!

  • Fruits drizzled with vanillic dessert?
Come on Sebastian, I’m on a diet 🙂
Sounds completely unisex, 100% . About what Michelyn said about “gender” in perfumery, I don’t think such thing exists. To me you should wear what you like .
Lamar bottle design is fantastic, sounds delicious, sure I want it .
My sample of Dahab is all I’ve smelled from Kajal
    Thank you
Non-stop back and forth between USA and Scotland, one week in US -> one week in Scotland, basically both USA and EU/UK at the same time

  • Sebastian describes the fragrances in a vivid way. I get excited to try the fragrances he reviews.I started my collection journey 6 months ago. I find his reviews take me deeper into my journey of discovery. I have purchased several fragrances just from his reviews.

  • I liked how Michelyn provided the context for Sebastian’s review by describing how Kajal Lamar has its fruitiness balanced in a masterful way by other ingredients. Haven’t tried anything by this house, yet. From Sebastian’s video review, we learned that rose is not a sharp rose explosion, but modulated by other floral and fruity notes. Overall it seems to be a very well balanced perfume. Also, the bottle is beautiful. Thanks for the review and the draw. Writing from the USA.

  • I love oriental scents and the additional floral-fruity notes here sound absolutely delicious. I loved the description “vanilla/ honey drizzled all over fruits”. Many thanks for this draw, I live in France.

  • Love Sebastian’s reviews. Always gives so much information. This sounds like a winner. Thanks for a great review and thanks to Kajal Perfumes Paris for making this draw possible. I’m in the USA

  • I always enjoy Sebastians reviews. Most scents I can imagine in my “mind eye” but this one’s notes are too foreign to me to wrap my head around. Tart fruits in the opening with a rose mid isn’t too off but toffee and amber in the base throws me off. It’s intriguing to say the least.
I live in Canada and have never smelled a Kajal Scent.

  • What is not to like in Lamar?! As a huge lover of fruity floral fragrances, and as Sebastian’s proud fan,I need to have this beauty in my life. Passion fruit, pineapple and berries counterbalanced by coriander and cardamom, roses and magnolias with hints of jasmine on a honeyed toffee vanilla base.Ambroxan enhances the power of Lamar, and makes it even more desirable.Never smelled anything from Kamal, and i would really love to. Thank you so much for the draw,i live in Romania,EU.

  • So yummy description – fruits, vanilcic dessert and honey!! I am little fat, and maybe this perfume will make me not eat dessert
    So luxury bottle.
I am not familiar with Kajal perfumes.
    Armenia.

  • Being a vain guy i was so impressed by Sebastian review of Kajal Homme here , on Cafleurebon, and also his claims it’s one of the best masculine fragrances on the market .
Sampled it , and bought it a few days after. Spectacular fragrance.
If Sebastian is describing Lamar it in such a way, “like a major orange glow” , and also claimed it has “gold experience” I’m certain it smells amazing.
I would wear it on a date with a classy lady.
    Great giveaway , USA
    Regards

  • Spacehunter says:

I love Sebastians review’s cause he seems so genuine in actually representing how something smells to him. I’m intrigued by the tart / sophisticated fruit + rose. That’s something I don’t think I’ve experienced before; it’s usually sweet fruity rose or dirt rose/oud, without anything in between. Not familiar with Kajal, but have heard of them. New Zealand.

  • I really enjoy how honest and thorough Sebastian reviews are, and no I’m not very familiar with the brand, but this perfume sounds quite nice.
    From Denmark

  • Great review from Sebastian. I enjoyed the detailed description of the notes and how the fragrance develops from a fruity opening to a vanilla toffee drydown. Seems like a really pleasant and unique fragrance. Also nice to discover more of the history of the fragrance in the introduction. I’ve never tried fragrances from Kajal but i´m looking forward to. I’m from Brazil.

  • After your review, I am excited to check out this fragrance. I love Mark Buxton’s work with CdG–I wear the original parfum to bed on winter nights. It’s like sleeping in cashmere pajamas. I am so curious to smell Kajal’s take on “liquid gold.” It it anything like CdG’s take on gold (8 88)? Fruit-saturated perfumes are really tough to pull off successfully. And honey: is it anything like Ulrich Lang’s Nightscape? I am so curious. Your review was great, Sebastian. I love how you added images to accompany the scent profile; it makes it so much easier to grokk. It’d also be interesting to get your take on the packaging. Thanks! Ronnie

  • MrAndersson77 says:

His desceiption really made me qurious. I have not tried any Kajal fragrances yet unfortunately but this one I really want to try. I live in Sweden.

  • I loved Sebastian’s vivid portrayals of the scent – its lush, honeyed notes would be divine for the upcoming winter! I think the tartness would work really well to balance the fruitiness, which I enjoy in moderation. I love rose too, so it sounds great! Additionally, this was created by Mark Buxton, which is always a bonus 🙂 I am not familiar with Kajal Perfumes, and I would love to try this. I live in the UK!

  • Hello, my name is Stepan and I am from Moscow, Russia. I liked Sebastian’s video on Kajal Lamar because of his sharp note description and also because I am not familiar with the house of Kajal and I was very pleased to learn about such a great house. Of course I am very excited to try and wear this perfume via giveaway or just by trying it in store.

  • Such attention to detail is uncommon for $210 fragrance. Smells like a fruity dessert good, presentation is second to none, I’m really eager to try it.
I’m in tailoring business , and i already wear Kajal Homme while working with clients. $185 well spent. Lamar is different, nightlife fragrance.
About when Michelyn said , why would anyone consider rose and toffee not appropriate for men ? It’s late 2020, not 1980.
    Exquisite giveaway, thanks.

  • Michael Prince says:

Michelyn, great intro on Mark Buxton. I enjoyed his quote “My inspiration for Kajal LAMAR, was to create a rich, natural, warm, long lasting fragrance, by using high quality natural products.” I think he has succeeded on Lamar. It’s also cool to discover Lamar means liquid gold in Arabic. Sebastian once again came through with an amazing review of Lamar. I love everything about Lamar from the beautiful presentation to Sebastian’s description of how this fruity/floral concoction is enveloped in a syrupy/honeyed experience with some added spice from cardamom and cumin along with some creamy vanilla in the base. I would love the opportunity to try this fragrance. I have seen many reviews on Kajal fragrances, but I haven’t tried any of their offerings. I am from Ohio, USA.

  • statikstepz says:

I live in Florida, USA… what I loved about Sebastians review is how he break down the fragrance itself… I am a subscriber to his channel and love his videos. He really breaks down the fragrance in a way you can u sweat and and in a way that you can almost know it’s smell without even putting your nose to it. I love how this is a fruit heavy powerhouse. I love fruity fresh scents, being that I live in South Florida, so we mainly have hot summer weather here 75% of the year haha. Also how this has a slight rise to it with a little bit of spice. Makes it sound like a must have in the collection. As always, love Sebastian’s videos, he has helped me with a lot of my purchases based on his reviews and puts them in a way you can really understand the fragrance and get to know it before even buying!! I love the part of Michelyns introduction describing the history of the word (Lamar) and where it comes from so you can get a sense of its inspiration. I have heard of the brand before but not too much about any individual scents until this review and now I am 100% interested in what they have to offer! Thanks again for the opportunity!!

  • As always, love how informative Sebastian’s review is. I love fruit-centric fragrances, and the bottle design is also fabulous. I hope it will be my first Kajal perfume.
    Hong Kong

  • Great review as always by Sebastian. Great description of how the notes were blending together. I also liked how Michelyn mentioned how although the notes are usually “feminime”, it would challenge the idea of gender. Haven’t had much experience with Kajal, but have heard nothing but good things. Keep up the great work, from Vancouver Canada.

  • He had me at Mark Buxton :), I have a few fragrances composed by said perfumer and love love love them.
The bottle is gorgeus, I was picturing more yellow flowers, and not roses.
If Sebastian likes the perfumer and the house, Lamar should be a very beautiful “gold experience”.
    I am in EU.

  • wandering_nose says:

I like that Sebastian lists all the notes used by Mark Buxton in this fragrance, and then goes on to sum up the most prominent accords. Woody, fruity and vanillic composition on a honeyed base sounds absolutely delightful to me. I am happy about how Michelyn emphasizes the balanced nature of the fragrance ensured by the choice of the talented perfumer, as well as the genderless character of this perfume. I live in Ireland and am not familiar with Kajal fragrances but would be happy to try them out. Thank you for this generous draw.

  • Majed Putrus says:

I enjoyed Sebastian review a lot, what intrigued me the most about this perfume is “the floral- fruity bomb with drizzled Vanilla honey” as Sebastian put it so eloquently he also describes it as a golden scent.
Finland and yes I have heard a lot about Kajal perfumes but never tried any of their creations

  • IvanVelikov says:

Whoever designer Kajal hired for Jihan bottle, he, or she did astonishing work. If I have to rate the bottle I’ll give it 100/100. No wonder Lamar means liquid gold in Arabic
I have sample of Dahab I received in a FB group swap. Sweet juicy gourmand done really well. I’m not sure why Sebastian called it “dry” . Smells natural to me, which is rare for gourmands.
Lamar dessert feel is appealing to me, we all need some quality sweetness in our lives.
Almost forgot , to me there’s no such thing as ” “gender” in fragrance”
Thank you, such a great draw.
    USA , rarely Paris France

  • I think Sebastian said it without really saying it that maybe this smells like a glazed fruit tarte dessert. From Kajal, I most want to check out Alujain and Sawlaj soon enough! And I don’t think the notes sound particularly feminine, just par for the course for arabian perfumery.

    Thanks

Although I have yet to try any of Kajal’s fragrances, they are HIGH on my list. I have heard so many great things about several of the lines scents. One of my very next purchases is Kajal Homme as that has had so much praise in the fragrance community, and it is one that has really piqued my interest. That will be picked up in the near future. Like the other fruity fragrance from Kajal that Sebastian mentioned, Dahab, that is another one that really holds my interest and one I would love to get my nose on. Yasmina is the other one in the collection I have my eye on. I will be sampling these for sure someday soon with Kajal Homme probably being a blind buy. I love how Sebastian is picking up passionfruit, red berries, and pineapple most in the opening as this sounds like such s wonderful combination of fruity notes. I also like how he is detecting the spices in here to tame the fruitiness as well. I have really been in to rose fragrances here as of late so the rose, although a fruity rose, being prominent in the heart is a big yes for me! Mark Buxton is just a fabulous perfumer and has some amazing creations so this is only a plus that he is the perfumer here. I always appreciate Michelyn’s introductions with little tidbits of info for us… it is always interesting to find out something I did not know before, especially when it somehow relates to fragrances! Thank you Sebastian, for yet another great review of a great scent, and for giving us your thoughts on Lamar. I value your opinion and really use it when looking for my next fragrance purchases. A huge thanks to Kajal for your generosity and for this wonderful opportunity! It is appreciated more than you know. As always, thank you Michelyn, for everything you do and for making this all possible. I, like so many others, greatly appreciate you! Sending warm wishes and gratitude from Delaware, US. Good luck all and stay safe my fragrant friends!

I am always looking for something unique in Fragrances. This definitely seems unique in terms of its composition fruity notes with vanilla and base note of saffron….. I can imagine the smell.

Sebastian is back! My favourite reviewer. I don;t need THE fragrance to smell it, just need to listen to Sebastian. Great review as always. The bottle is just outsatnding, one of the most beautiful i’ve ever seen, so luxurious and sophisticated. What I am most curious about is the toffee note:) Never had a chance to smell one before, hope I will get the chance. Greetings from Poland, EU.

  • I would like to discover what a fruity floral perfume smells like as I have never owned one. Sebastian arose my curiosity for the scent. Through this video, I’ve also discovered both the house and the nose which is a bonus to my list of niche perfumes.
I would like to experience this rose bomb vanilla and honey drizzled with fruits on my cocoa bean skin. As a lover of gourmand perfumes, Sebastian made this fruit-centric perfume, sound like the perfect autumn-winter entremet which awoke and grew my curiosity about it. Additionally, I would like to find out if it actually lives up to its name (which I learned through Mychelin’s’ introduction), and is indeed liquid gold! I live in Paris, France!

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always spot on. He really knows his stuff and is able to break everything down and still keep your interest. I love how Michelyn wrote about rethinking genders in fragrance. I would love to win this and the notes sound fantastic. But getting to why I found Michelyn’s statement so interesting – my typical fragrance definitely pushes more feminine than masculine – but I have been wearing more unisex/masculine scents lately and am really enjoying them. Something I never would have done several years ago!
I’m in the US, thanks for this opportunity.

I’ve seen Kajal quite a bit on Instagram, but have not tried anything from this house yet. This sounds like a very delicious fragrance. I appreciated that Sebastian broke down each note, and how strong or present the note is. I also appreciate learning the background of the fragrance name here in this article. I would love to try this one! Located in the US.

Its almost like it was faith, just a few days ago I recently found out about this specific perfume, so glad that he did a review. Especially since ive watched his videos before and know they are good quality.
But what I liked about his video is how in depth he went, he painted up this feeling almost that you get from smelling it, or the way he descibred the perfume was almost a bit mouth watering. Starting with a burst of fruity notes and who dosent love that, then the flowery notes starting to come trough, specifically rose which I am a fan of especially when it comes to oriental florals. Then the base being warm, toffee syrupy. All that mixed together is like a dessert, just sounded amazing. He also talked about how the bottle is a very good representation of how it smells like, and the bottle is just absolutely gorgeous. You almost want to get the perfume just from looking at the bottle.

I currently live in Canada, I am not very familiar with Kajal, I saw it on fragrentica and got intrigued.

  • Thanks to Michelyn and Sebastian to introduce us to Mr Buxtons new creation and the chance to win a full bottle of this awesome looking fragrance. I have already experienced some samples and a bottle of kajal perfumes and its quality of ingredients and designs really shines out. I’m from Germany and it’s really hard to find any of the kajals so I thought I will give this giveaway a chance. Even if I don’t win I will try to get a sample of it asap. I have an eye on Lamar since tltg made a review and now that Sebastian loves it too I need to get my hands on it. Thanks guys for this offer and stay healthy during this pandemic. Best Tim

  • I ALWAYS enjoy Sebastian’s videos, he really knows how to seduce, i mean, in olfactory way! The bottle looks fantastic, so do the description and notes. Sign me up for this amazing draw, thanks for generousity!

I enjoyed Sebastian’s YouTube review as it really went over the breakdown of the scent and makes me very interested in getting my hands on it. Also Michelyn’s introduction was very informative and made me further interested in this parfum.
I live in Honolulu, Hawaii and I am not very familiar with Kajal Perfumes but have heard of several of their lines.

  • Hey! I love the sound of how the rose and the fruits are blended in this fragrance with the deep balsamic and oriental notes described seem right up my street. I would really like to get my nose on this. I struggle a lot with these richer niche fragrances as I in a location where it isn’t easy to try them out. I would love to be considered for the draw. I loved when sabastian was describing the fragrance as bieng kind of like honey and syrup in the dry down which I love as I like sweet fragrances. I also always enjoy how imformative sabastians videos are and that they are short videos aswell. Thx for the opportunity hopefully I get my first kajal fragrance❤️❤️❤️

  • What I loved about this vid was the way sabastian described the fragrance and how quickly he covered the whole structure of it. This is why I always live his videos. I would love to try and wear a kajal fragrance and hopefully this is my first. ❤️❤️

  • I love how Sebastian describes the delicious notes of this perfume, I am a huge fan of his channel and the vanilla/honeyed vibe seem very appealing to me. I appreciate how Michelyn mentions that we should rethink how we see gender in fragrance. It would be a shame if some people would feel put off from trying certain products just because of how it is marketed or if they feel it wouldn’t be masculine or feminine enough! I live in California, USA and have never heard of Kajal Perfumes before this video.

  • Manuel Diez says:

The review by Sebastian was very comprehensive, I am not familiar with the brand, but trusting Sebastian’s good judgement, I believe this is a fragrance well worth owning.

  • I love this kind of fruity, oriental vanilla fragrances and can’t wait to try this one as well. Hope to try it soon and hope to get a bottle. The bottle is amazing as well.
    I’m from Macedonia.

  • Hi. I hope to be able to get in on this….I am from Canada! I enjoyed Sébastien’s review (as I always do). I am a female (Sue). I agree with Michelyn’s remarks – fragrances should be genderless. I personally prefer the ones MARKETED for unisex or male audiences, anyhow. I love sophisticated and luxury fragrances with quality raw materials which this clearly is. Anyway, I would love a chance to win “Lamar” I see it means “Liquid Gold” in Arabic. I love complex fragrances. I love a well combined “honeyed” drizzled food quality….with an explosion of fruits, flowers & syrup-like vanilla. This totally looks like up my alley. I love delicious fragrances, just like Sébastien, as well! What a stunning bottle too! I am brand new to the house of Kajal. I am very interested in exploring this house further. Please add this entry to the draw 🙂

  • really a good description of the product from Sebastian, I imagine what the fragrance is like but I hope if I am not the winner I can buy it.
I am from Lima – Peru, greetings!

  • I love the smell of red berries in perfumes. I can’t wait to try a sample of this and find out what ‘liquid gold’ smells like. I just read about Kajal on Fragrantica and I’m so curious! I love Sebastian’s reviews for the great breakdown he gives of the scents and how matter of fact he is. I envy how many fragrances he’s been able to try out! Now I’m just left wondering how cardamom will blend with the fruits.

  • I forgot to add that I’m from Montana. Not a lot of chances to try perfume here but I love reading about them for some reason, especially during the winter. I try all the perfumes I can!
