The idea for the Lucid Dreams perfumes began after a real dream…I was standing on the edge of a field surrounded by trees. Meteors were raining down from the sky like tears of fire. One meteor crashed into a tree in an explosion of smoke and cinders. When the smoke cleared, I walked closer. This was no meteor. Where the tree once stood was now a tall, human-like woman wrapped in a gold shroud. She began to speak. She said she was part of a small race of perfumers that had come to earth to share their knowledge of perfumery. Each one of them a master who creates all of their perfumes around a specific ingredient. From this dream, I awoke and wrote down what would become Lucid Dreams. Each perfume centered around an ingredient in a dreamy light using the finest materials, with 30 percent parfum concentration.Michael Schrammel, perfumer For the Scent of It, and Contributor.

I like the idea of using a single note to center a theme with for a fragrance. Tonka is a wonderful fragrance note to center a fragrance around. I like the idea of an irresistible aromatic trail wafting behind me as well. I live in Maryland USA.

  • My interest was sparked by the description and review of all three. I was hoping at the end to find some sort of discovery set for the draw. If chosen I pick the Incense. US

  • I have been a big fan of Michael’s works for years but I have not had a chance to try his Lucid Dreaming series. They all sound so amazing to me. This was a tough choice but I think I will go with Tonka if I’m so lucky to win. Fingers crossed in California.

  • This is so fitting because the other night I was listening to a subliminal to encourage lucid dreaming and what would you know, I had some wild lucid dreams. I enjoyed the imagery used in the review to compare the tonka fragrance to a transparent lame with metallic threads. The sarsaparilla c02 also really intrigues me as I have yet to try it as a note in perfumery. I am from New England, USA.

  • All of these fragrances sound amazing! They had me contemplating which one sounds better. If I were to win this giveaway, I would choose Dreaming in Tonka. I like sweet fragrances a ton and most of my collection consists of sweeter fragrances. The sound of cinnamon and almonds with the sweet tonka and vanilla combo sound ethereal, though the others look amazing as well. Maybe I should sample these ones sometime in the future.

  • Well, the reviews make these all seem so wonderful it would be hard to choose. The warm hug of the Tonka is probably my comfort zone, and the Incense is where my interest traditionally lies, with the described sense of contemplation and spirituality, but if my name is drawn, I will pick the Santal version. The bran note is just too darn intruiguing and the mental get-away described in the review is something I think I will be needing as this year wears on! I do indeed live in the contiguous US.

Plot twist: Michael dreamt the same dream from 3 different POVs (in this case notes). That’s how I’m sort of reading the Dreaming In series.the name of each of the fragrances is the focal point of the scent but told from a different perspective based on the note. Santal is a more mysterious and action-packed scenario. Incense is ethereal and comforting at the same time while Tonka touches on the sweet and lightly spiced aspect. This once again reinforces the idea that inspiration can come from anywhere for a fragrance, even a dream. I’m located in the USA.

  • I loved reading about the inspiration behind Michael’s Lucid Dreams perfumes. It sounds like quite the profound dream he had! I love iris, so Lucid Dreams Santal sounds especially amazing. As a daily meditation practitioner, I really loved Sandi’s comment about the fragrance evoking a sacred meditation retreat. I also enjoy incense, so Lucid Dreaming in Incense sounds quite nice. Sandi’s comment about it possessing a serene and ethereal aura makes me want to try it even more. Lastly, as a lover of tonka and spices, Dreaming in Tonka sounds like a must-try as well. It sounds very comforting with its creamy sweetness.

Although all three fragrances sound amazing, I would love the opportunity to own a bottle of Dreaming in Santal. The combination of iris, bran, and sandalwood just sounds wonderful.

Thank you, Sandi, for the beautiful reviews, and thank you to Michael Schrammel for the giveaway. I am located in the contiguous USA.

They all sound AMAZING! I’m torn between lucid dreams santal and dreaming in tonka . The sandalwood and iris seem like a unique blend that I haven’t yet experienced. I’m a fan of everything in dreaming in tonka…. bourbon, vetiver, amber, sandalwood, and tonka nothing left to say but wow. I am a US resident ready to explore these new scents!

  • All three of the fragrances in Michael’s Lucid Dreams collection sound like odes to relaxation and dreamy contemplation. It’s difficult to choose but I’m gravitating towards Dreaming in Incense. The zesty spicy opening has me intrigued along with that toasted vanilla note. It doesn’t seem like a church incense fragrance. I appreciate the 30% perfume concentration. MD, USA

  • Very interesting dream. I love that this line is expanding. Dreaming in Oud is so wonderful to wear in the winter. If I am the lucky person I would pick Dreaming in Santal because I’m obsessed with that note lately and it’s a top pick of Sandi. Interesting that there are 2 sources of sandalwood. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • I’m not 100% onboard with the Lucid Dream theme of these fragrances, but I love the clarity of concept—”each perfume centered around an ingredient in a dreamy light using the finest materials, with 30 percent parfum concentration”. That “dreamy light” framing is particularly intriguing. Dreaming in Tonka is the only one of these I’ve tried, and its combination of cinnamon and tonka is really effective, the dryness of the spice playing off the rest of the fragrance’s sweet-creamy texture. I’m curious about that twist of iris in Dreaming in Santal and hope to try it soon.

  • I ordered a sample of each of these after reading this. I’ve shied away from warmer and spicier perfumes, but Sandi’s descriptions of these sparked my interest, particularly the description of Dreaming of Incense as enveloping the wearer in “a serene, ethereal aura, comforting warmth, and an air of mystery.” I have fallen in love with a few perfumes by For the Scent of It this year, and this sounds like it will be another. Serenity and mystery is such an interesting descriptor. I’m US-based and hoping I’m lucky enough to win a bottle of Incense, though I’m excited to smell them all regardless when my samples come.

I’ve been a fan of Michael & his brand for a while. Got Dreaming in Oud for my wedding anniversary so that we can both enjoy this beautiful creation.

I would pick Dreaming in Incense. Love the notes of frankincense, vanilla & incense.

    Los Angeles Ca. USA

  • I love so many of the notes Sandi lists in Dreaming In Incense that at first, it was my pick. But after going to the perfumer’s website, I am intrigued with Dreaming In Tonka. I like the way it sounds as if it surrounds you, but doesn’t overpower.

  • Eris.can.swatch.kaos says:

I absolutely love the inspiration for Lucid Dreams, aliens or angels from heaven raining down to perform acts of artistic perfumery. How bizarre and beautiful at the same time. I’m very interested in Lucid Dreams Dreaming In Incense by For The Scent Of It. This mysterious fragrance has a scent profile I adore and the breakdown has my heart. However, Santal sounds just as perfect and is making me add it to my list. I’ve been intrigued by For The Scent Of It for some time and wanting to add one or two (or three) to my collection. I choose Incense for the draw. I live in Oregon.

  • I really enjoyed reading Michael’s dream which inspired this line of perfume. As someoe who forgets most of her dreams, I’m impressed the amount of detail he was able to retain from this dream and his willingness to let it inspire his artistry.
Sandi’s review of these three fragrances illuminates their dreamy essence and uniqueness. I own a bottle of Grand Soleil and a sample of Lovin’ Spoonful, and both are excellent fragrances with plenty of personality. Should I win this draw, I would most like to receive Dreaming in Tonka, as it sounds most fabulous to twirl around enveloped in a transparent lame cloak! Thanks for the generous draw. I do live in the contiguous USA.

  • As an avid dreamer, I am sure a dream inspired perfume will be amazing! I am most drawn to Dreaming of Incense and I live in Seattle.

  • I love that you shared the dream that started the series, it really sets the tone for this project. They sound very meditative and relaxing based on the reviews.

All of the scents sound gorgeous but I think for the giveaway I would select Dreaming In Santal, I love lactonic sandalwood but I’m also curious about the roasted bran note. I live in the US. Thank you.

  • Cerek Loutsch says:

Sandi’s review on Dreaming in Santal makes me want to try it! I love Iris and I love sandalwood, so I’m sure I’d enjoy the fragrance.

  • I’m especially drawn to Santal—although I feel like it’s no longer a trendy ingredient after we all got fatigued by Le Labo dupes, sandalwood will forever be a favorite. I’m especially intrigued by the bran note, and could really use something that makes me feel like I’m at “a sacred meditation retreat.” I live in the US.

  • foreverscents says:

Wow! Michael’s dream sounds fascinating and certainly inspiring. It’s wonderful to have a lucid dream from which creativity springs.
I would choose Dreaming in In Incense if I were the winner of the draw. I absolutely love mandarin and ginger notes. I also love mystical and serene fragrances, ones that envelope me in warmth.
    I live in the USA.

  • All 3 of these sound great and I’m torn but Incense wins as it is a key note in one of my all time favorites. Thank you Sandi for the reviews and Michael Schrammel for the kind giveaway. I’m in USA

For The Scent Of It – Lucid Dreams

Lucid Dreams is an ethereal, contemplative scent. It opens with a bright yet intriguing blend of citrus, pink pepper and green violet leaves. Tea adds an airy, calming quality that’s truly unique. This transitions to an elegant drydown with cashmere and white musks that create a lasting softness. It’s a quiet, sophisticated experience that evokes a feeling of calm.

For The Scent Of It – Santal

Santal is centered around a sophisticated sandalwood. The tonka bean gives it a warm and creamy texture, while leather adds unique smoothness and textures. It’s a smooth, inviting scent, showcasing a refined sandalwood experience. The experience is inviting and warm and leaves an almost addictive experience of comfort.

For The Scent Of It – Incense

Incense is a modern take on a classic smoky fragrance. It begins with resins and frankincense, creating a slightly aromatic yet smoky feel. Cedarwood and guaiac wood create more complex and intriguing layers. This leads to a grounding quality with all these aromas combined to create an experience that is both bold, yet very mysterious.

I would love to try For The Scent Of It Lucid Dreaming in Incense

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • i’ve been looking for something airy and meditative to use during yoga at home, and the Santal fragrance sounds really in tune for that usage. i am of course intrigued by the Silk Vine and Roasted Bran notes as well. I’m in the US.

  • I think these all sound delightfully beautiful! I would absolutely love Tonka, as I adore vanilla and the cinnamon and lavender notes sounds so lovely!! I am in Colorado USA
