État Libre d’Orange Experimentum Crucis Review (Quentin Bisch) + Cosmic Rose Draw

It's not often that in the middle of a busy week, with dozens of deadlines closing in on me, I find myself spending hours creating my own artwork for a fragrance review. Such was the case with Experimentum Crucis, the latest perfume release by État Libre d'Orange; from the very first spray I was overwhelmed by genuine enthusiasm for what is a seriously addictive, extraordinarily diffusive, rightdown stunning honeyed-rose scent.

“Experimentum Crucis" refers to an experiment capable of decisively determining whether or not a particular hypothesis is superior to all others. A notable example of a scientist using this method was Isaac Newton, who proved this way the validity of his theories about the motion of the planets, and light. Etienne de Swardt (founder and creative director of État Libre d'Orange) took inspiration from Newton's world-changing theories to create a fragrance that would release “the poetry of rainbows and gravity in a natural spray". The essence of his newest fragrant story is that “love and the trail of a scent are stronger than gravity and time”.

“What if Newton was hit by a rose?” (Digital Collage by Despina Veneti)©

To convey this message Etienne de Swardt chose an appropriately imaginative perfumer, Quentin Bisch, who has always shown great flair for realizing Etienne’s most abstract or complicated ideas (see La Fin Du MondeHermann À Mes Côtés Me Paraissait Une Ombre and Attaquer Le Soleil Marquis de Sade). The young perfumer's intelligence, culture and perception often lead to refreshingly unexpected creative paths; popular legend has that Newton conceived the Law of Universal Gravitation after he got hit on the head by an apple that fell off a tree, but Quentin playfully wondered what would have happened if the great scientist had been hit by a gigantic, fully scented rose instead!

Quentin Bisch of Givaudan and Etienne de Swardt of État Libre d'Orange

When I asked him about Experimentum Crucis, Quentin told me: “I wanted a magnetically attractive fragrance, powerful enough to mesmerize. Both rose and apple have the damascones as common facets, and I enhanced the apple essence with a Givaudan captive, Pomarose (the apple is of course a “clin d'oeil” to Sir Newton; and you're right, it's indeed the same upcycled essence used in État Libre d'Orange I Am Trash/Les Fleurs du Déchet). I added a burst of lychee, as well as cumin, my favorite spice, to electrify the opening notes. The rose absolute is special: animalic with castoreum and oud facets, deep and dark. I didn't use a honey base accord, because it wouldn't translate the fluidity I like in honey; I found my own way of achieving the desired effect. Honey creates two addictions: an edible one, and an animalic, almost sexual one: in the end the scent is all about attraction! Experimentum Crucis is bold. Every facet is overdosed. No compromise. After all, it is État Libre d'Orange!”

A limited edition hosted in a grey/blue bottle with a bronze embossed label, État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis opens with a blast of mouth-watering sweetness: the rose, shining star of the composition, is at once present, in the company of delicious, delicately rosy apple and lychee, lightly sprinkled with cumin. The rose soon transcends the initial fruitiness: jammy, velvety and voluptuous, it takes over like an enveloping cloud, absorbing the top notes as facets of its own complex aromatic identity. After the first twenty minutes, the rose becomes increasingly carnal and animalic, moving into the sphere of deep sensuality.

Cosmic Sillage” (Digital Collage by Despina Veneti)©

The edible character is magnified by a seductive honey accord. Both among nature’s most precious and ancient gifts, rose and honey appeal as much to primal instincts, as they do to modern sophistication. Here the perfumer has achieved a honey note so realistic, that one is unsure whether to inhale or to devour. The base prevents the fragrance from ever becoming sticky or cloying: Akigalawood warms the composition, patchouli deepens it and musk uplifts it, while all three together lay the foundation for the scent's fantastic performance (longevity reaches the next day, as for projection 2-3 sprays fill up a room).

État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis (Photo/Digital Effects by Despina Veneti)©

Just like fine wine, État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis is euphoric, but not heady. Erotic but also reassuring, it radiates unabashed sensuality and touching optimism, forming a sort of an aphrodisiac atmosphere around the wearer. Any slight gesture, like arranging a rebellious lock of hair, is enough to activate the fragrance’s tremendous trail. Like attraction at first sight turning into deep love, État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis explodes, collides with you at “hello" – only to become one with you. If you accept that there can be poetry in a scent's sillage, then look no further than this “Cosmic Rose”.

Notes: Apple, Cumin, Lychee; Honey, Jasmine Absolute, Rose NeoAbsolute; Akigalawood, MuskPatchouli.

Disclaimer: I'd like to thank Etienne de Swardt for my tester bottle of État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis. The opinions are my own. Special thanks to Quentin Bisch for answering my questions on very short notice.

  • Beautiful review and photos, Despina!  I like the way you contrast the fragrance notes between them being edible or wanting to inhale them.  🙂  I have never smelled any Etat Libre d'Orange fragrances but have read so much about this house lately.  Seems like a very forward thinking house.  Much respect to them. I would love to try Experimentum Crucis.  Thank you for the giveaway.  In the USA

  • saadfragrance says:

I love how despina talks about the honey, how it provides for an amazing sweet gooey like accord but is sexy and sensual at the same time. Absolutely gorgeous review and i would love to be able to get my hands on it. I have and love rien intense incense from the house. From the u.s

  • twiggy3634 says:

I enjoy Despina's perception of the honey and rose being a juxtaposition of primal instinct and sophistication. There's something erotic about that balance, like toeing the line between pain and pleasure. Speaking of, I've yet to have the pleasure of smelling a fragrance from this house, maybe this one shall be my first. Cheers fron Indiana, USA.

  • fleurdetilleul says:

Honestly, my favourite part about Despina's review here are the illustrations: What if Newton was hit by a rose and Cosmic sillage. They make for some very interesting metaphors that describe the fragrance very well! I haven't have the chance to try many of their house, but among those I tried, my favourite is Divin Enfant. EU

  • Just the bottle design itself is completely mesmerizing. It looks like something you would find hidden away in an alchemist's workshop or maybe the object of some immense, hidden power sought after in a sci-fi movie. I really liked how you described the quality and essence of the rose used in this composition, Despina. Rose is a favorite component of mine in a perfume and this sounds like one phenomenal composition. Aside from Rien Intense Incense, I've not tried anything else from this house. It would be a pleasure to win this giveaway. Thanks so much for your generosity! I'm in Oregon, USA

  • andalabanda says:

Newton hit by a big, juicy and, maybe green and thorny rose! Beautiful review, strong imagery both by the ELDO house and by Despina. I like the idea of a rose/honey combo that is both edible and inhalable in a perfume that, according to the reviewer, is both sensual and reassuring. I am also intrigued by the claim that this perfume has great longevity. I am a bif fan of the house, and I have few favorites, including Hermann (bith my hsuband and I use it) Noel au Balcon (another unique edible/inhalable fragrance). I am in Pennsylvania, US.

  • Symbian Pandora says:

This sounds fantastic! Leave it to Mr. Bisch to create another masterpiece! I own a fee of his creations and I feel he is one of the best young perfumeurs in the world!!! Would love to enter the draw, win or not, I am getting this baby!!!

     I am in the USA

  • I like the bottle a lot, and the notes are really nice. I have experienced a few ELDO offerings and i must admit they are kinda strange or particular, but in a good way. For  me Hermann a mes cotes was the best in terms of smell, also Someone like you was kinda nice. I would love to try this one, so thanks for the chance, i am in the EU.

  • fazalcheema says:

État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis looks interesting. As the name is inspired by Newton. it is only fair to incorporate the note of apple in it. It seems like it will appeal to rose lovers as it is not heady. My  favorite from brand is Jasmin et Cigarette. US.

  • What an interesting-sounding scent. I particularly enjoyed the way Despina described the honey facet: ‘The edible character is magnified by a seductive honey accord. Both among nature’s most precious and ancient gifts, rose and honey appeal as much to primal instincts, as they do to modern sophistication.’ My favorite ELDO scent is Divin Enfant, another edible one. I’m in the US. Many thanks for the review and draw.

  • HiMyNameIsWaste says:

A thump on the head from a tremendous honeyed rose sounds delightful. My favorite Etat scent is either Rien Intense or Tom of Finland, hard to choose. I live in Nashville, TN, USA.

  • citizenkage says:

Isaac Newton is a high standard to live up to, but I do love the inspiration here. I really love the inspiration behind this entire line. Very unique and different. Not following the trend, creating your own path. This fragrance sounds fantastic and the bottle is beautiful. Would love to get my nose on this. I live in West Palm Beach, FL, USA.

  • This sounds amazing! One can never have too many rose perfumes! The part of Despina's review that I liked most was the interview with Quentin where he explained all about the inspiration behind the fragrance. I love learning things like that, it allows a more intimate connection with the scent. I love many ELdO perfumes, but my very favorite is Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection. I am in the U.S.

  • This new fragrance sounds luscious with the apple and lychee notes paired with a honeyed rose. I'll definitely be looking for a sample. Thanks for another fabulous draw! USA

  • You had me at honeyed Rose perfume. These days not many parfums call my name. I have a soft spot for this line and find many of their fragrances quite appealing. However this one really called my name. I love the Simplicity of their bottles and yet I love when they use different colored bottles. This is definitely on my radar and I would love the opportunity to try this. I am in the US. Thank you so much for the generosity.

  • Apple and lychee notes with the rose has me interested.  But Despina's digital artwork What If Newton  Was Hit By A Rose is dope.  It's what I find most interesting about this review.  USA

  • Elinor vasiliou says:

Beautifully written review. I get a strong sense of what it will be like and yet total intrigue! Lychee, honey, rose and that special apple from I  am trash – can't wait to try it. I'm from UK

  • Well, I loved the digital collages by Despina, and that she took us on a journey through the creation process of this fragrance.

I never even tried so far an Etat Libre d’Orange Fragrance!

I am living in the EU / Germany.

  • sanvean79 says:

Thanks Despina, I loved the vivid imagery you used, it made me want to get my hands on this one very badly. And since it's a ltd edition, I hate it too ha ha. I love this house, faves being Rien, Hermann, Amourette and Vierges et Toreros. I am in London, does it still count? No matter, thanks anyway! Much love

  • As always, the photos accompanying the reviews are stunning. I very much apreciate the story behind the perfume, the comparison with the experiments of Isaac Newton. Everything about it is very intriguing: from the stunning presentation to that lychee note (which i find is quite rare in perfumery). Thank you Despina for the awsome review!   I am living in the EU, Romania

  • crisstyyn1 says:

I liked a lot how Despina described this fragrance and she made me want to try it so much. I have never tried ELDO frageances, but i would be very interested in doing that, especially You or simeone like you. I live in Romania EU. Regards! ❤️

  • bigscoundrel says:

Despina brought me on a journey in her review from Quentin Busch’ inspiration to the rosy sweetness to the anchoring foundation. Her collages are amazing, and the bottle is beautiful. I’ve never tried an État Libre d'Orange fragrance, but I have been interested in the house for some time. I’m in the USA.

  • Ambrosium says:

Great stuff, would love to get a hand on this.

The description that Despina gave to this scent and the general note breakdown sounds so mouthwatering.

  • Loredana O says:

I'm very excited by this review…it sounds like it is something magical…rose and honey… rainbows and gravity…aphrodisiac.

I will love to try this!

    I am from EU.

  • I love the visual of the ad, and the bottle is gorgeous! Thank you Despina for the description of this fragrance. I think it's the first review of it ever! I loved Bisch's Attaquer Le Soleil, so I'm even more intrigued by this.

My favourite ELdO is Rien Intense Incense. Their last release, I Am Trash, is really disappointing to me. Hopefully this one will bring back the brand's glory of the past.

Thank you for the draw! I live in France.

  • Wow, this review is epic beautifully combining poetry and science just as the fragrance creator had envisioned. The review had me chuckling with visions of being chased by a crazed honey badger coz I smelt so delicious wearing État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis:). I haven't tried any of État Libre's perfumes though I've watched Sebastian's review of "I am Trash" (what a name! ). I'd love to try this and will strive to stay far away from the badgers whenever I wear it. I'm in TX USA

  •  Beautiful review. I have heard about État Libre d'Orange brand but I did't have a chance to smell their fragrances. I loved the inspiration and description of "scent    are stronger than gravity and time” for creating this scent.  I love Lychee note, I wonder if it's noticeable like in Delina from PDM. Thank you for the review and drew. Hadar from US.

  • My favourite ELDO scent is Eau de Protection, so I’m very excited to hear about another rose-centric scent from the brand! I particularly liked the artwork in the review more seriously, it’s always lovely to read a review that encompasses a perfumes inspiration, it’s maker’s journey and then reviewers thoughts on the scent.

  • LadyoftheOakenForest says:

Loved the review, really made me want to try it, a sI love rose in all shapes. There are quite a few from the line I really like, I love Like This and Noel au Balcon as well as Vraie Blonde with its aldehydes and peachy champagne notes. Would love to try the this one too!

I am based in the UK.

  • Beautiful review by Despina!  This new fragrance by Eldo sounds amazing.  I love so many of their fragrances but my favorite is Jasmin et Cigarette and Eau de Projection.  Thank you for the chance to win.  USA

  • Waldo favorite says:

Beautful, poetic, highly evocative review, full of intriguing touches and hints, leaving a decidedly sensual feel.

  • Wonderful and very enjoyable review. I have never tried anything from État Libre d'Orange, but I heard and read so much of this brand. Experimentum Crucis sounds amazing from the base of the review. Thank you for the chance. I live in the EU.

  • Great review. I love the history with Newton and thr background for the inoiration the perfumer came up with to create his new work. I love rose, cumin and honey so this sounds great. My favortite from the house is Fat Electrician. In the US and thanks for the draw.

  • I like Despina's style of description- vety rich, beautiful and not "hard".

I like hiney in perfumery and find just beautiful part in text about honey notes with rose: "Both among nature’s most precious and ancient gifts, rose and honey appeal as much to primal instincts, as they do to modern sophistication".

I like Etat Libre de Orange perfumes- mostly new I am trash.

    US

  • I was so intrigued by your quote "Here the perfumer has achieved a honey note so realistic, that one is unsure whether to inhale or to devour." Because, in my experience, I have never really found a fragrance that contains a honey note that smells fully authentic. So I'd be so eager to smell this perfume to finally experience a true honey note. It really sounds like a beautiful creation. I've never tried anything from Etat Libre so this would be a real treat to win this!

    I live in the USA.

  • What I loved about this review was the very carnal, detailed description of how this perfume opens and develops. I have the feeling that ELDO has more smart, energetic and unisex fragrances, than deep and seductive ones, so I would like to experience this journey of a delicate rose to a deep one. My favorite ELDO is Jasmin et cigarettes. From Romania.

  • Every facet is overdosed, no compromise! Beautiful and informative read, Despina.

  • I love this article! There are so many great tidbits beginning to end: Etienne de Swardt's quote about how love and the trail of a perfume can overcome gravity and time;  Quentin Bisch's idea of Newton being hit on the head with a giant rose; how rose and apple have damascones in common; Despina's description of how she's unsure whether she wants to inhale or devour the perfume.

There are so many ELDO fragrances that I love, among them Attaquer le Soleil, Eau de Protection, Like This, Remarkable People….

I live in the US and would be so thrilled and grateful to win the draw. Thank you Cafleurebon and Etienne de Sewart for your generosity.

  • You have to love ELDO sense of humour and mixing imaginining stories, and directing us to play with their rules. 🙂 Scentwise this must be unlike any other their scent. Was really happy about "I am trash" contrasting release, hoping that we'll get a another suprise yet again.

My favourite ELDO is the Fat Electrician, but this time I'm ready for something heavier.

Greetings from Switzerland and thanks a lot for the draw.

  • Ivan.napoleon says:

Im a.big fan of this house. My fav is Eldo. Great review my fav part is if she wants to devour  tha perfume. Id love to try this frag.  Miami Florida Thanks

  • Mmmmm a honeyed rose, sounds enticing! I've always been intrigued by this house as they really have a wide range of scent inspirations and seem to allow a wide range of interpretations for the perfumer to compose the scent. I haven't tried anything by this house before, but I really need to do so!

I live in the USA, thanks for the draw!

  • What a fantastic review that combines science, love , and perfume. I am an admirer of EDLO and recently bought Afternoon of the Faun and always loved Rossy de Palma. Quentin Bisch is the new perfumer I follow on Instagram. Thishoney rose can drop my way. You can see how much time and thought was put into the art and review. Incredible

  • NiceVULady says:

I really liked Despina's description of the fragrance as I thought it made it actually come through to the reader. Rose and honey sound marvelous.  I really don't have a favorite EDLO as I am not familiar with any of its fragrances.  Thanks for a great review and a most generous draw.  I'm in the USA

  • Bubeto_GG says:

from the very first spray I was overwhelmed by genuine enthusiasm for what is a seriously addictive, extraordinarily diffusive, rightdown stunning honeyed-rose scent.

    Strong statement !

Personally i do not fall easily into marketing traps like provocative campaigns , names , slogans or bottles.I will sample “Experimentum Crucis” because of the a) notes – result  intrigues me the most ,b) I like Quentin Bisch and c) then comes the nice job done by Despina Veneti .She hyped it up the right way with things like “blast of mouth-watering sweetness” , “delicious, delicately rosy apple and lychee, lightly sprinkled with cumin” , “seductive honey accord” and "scent's fantastic performance" .
When i was your my grandma was growing pumpkin and i’m so used to pumpkin pies , cakes , soups , cheesecakes and so on.I was looking for fragrances with pumpkin accord and then blind-bought Tilda Swinton Like and i love it.
    My husband owns Fat Electrician.
    Tnx for the giveaway.

Back and forth between USA and Scotland (EU) . 1 week in US -> 1 week in Scotland and so on..

I just loved this review. The descriptions of the dualities of this perfume were wonderful. I would really love to try it. My favorite of this house is Putains des Palaces. This one sounds like a beast that just envelopes the wearer with gorgeousness. Thank you for this giveaway. I am in the US.

  • d3m0lici0n says:

Awesome review! And another rose for ELdO! I tried the Rosy de Palma one and it was lovely.

Now this one paired with apple, a bit cumin and oud?  Oh and that honey base ? Yes please! I'd like to win the bottle!

    I live in the US.

    Thanks.

  • Interesting notes composition. Personally I like cumin in fragrances , but some guys perceive it a bit like body odor , so you should never overspay frags containing it.

Mouth watering sweetness , rosy apple , leachee with hints of cumin. And then jammy rose and Honey in the base . No doubt Despina Veneti review got my attention. Even though it is limited edition fragrance I'll try to get a sample.

Favorite Etat Libre d'Orange ? Remarkable People and You or Someone like you. Own the second one. I'm also curious about the pumpkin one Like This. It was not available last time I've checked local stores. Hope it's not discontinued.

Enjoyed the review , and thanks for the draw.

I got turned on just reading this review. I am feeling the need to wear something erotic and overdosed. I want to be noticed and devoured. Honey can be an iffy note for me, but here I think it sounds sexy with the rose and cumin.

I love Rien from this house. I live in the USA.

  • You had me at "honeyed rose." I own so many ELDOs but was disappointed by I Am Trash. I hope this is going back to what they do best: be un-maintstream. I'm in USA. I think my fave still is my first one I bought: Jasmin et Cigarette, though I do really love Rien. My second buy was Putain. Love her! And, I also adore Marquis de Sade and True Lust. Mmmmm. I must have this beauty.

  • Uncle1979 says:

Jammy rose , fruityness , patch  , musk , woody notes and cumin.. Shapeshifting a bit animalic base. Good job Quentin Bisch for creating such fragrance,  but also miss Veneti for her positive review. The performance is good too .

Almost forgot the litchi note. Quentin Bisch obviously like it a lot. Good perfumer  , and he's getting better imo.

Every time I think about Etat Libre d'Orange I think about Fat Electrician. Staple in my collection. ~1/3 left from my second bottle.

    Appreciate the giveaway campaign.

    USA almost all the time

  • This is what I enjoyed the most…’Just like fine wine, État Libre d'Orange Experimentum Crucis is euphoric, but not heady. Erotic but also reassuring, it radiates unabashed sensuality and touching optimism‘…

    i don’t have any favorites.

Really good review by Despina. Enjoyed the idea of honeyed rose scent with apple , lychee and patchouli . Add some spicy nuances into the mix and we got a winner.

Remarkable People is my favorite Etat Libre d'Orange.I should have got 100ml bottle , and not 50ml.

Thanks for the review and the generosity.

Like a good amuse bouche, Despina's review has really whet my appetite for Etat Libre's latest (thrilled to hear they're continuing to use upcycled materials, as I think such sustainable efforts are truly commendable). She makes it sound sensual, practically edible, intoxicating, and all around delicious. In particular, I must confess it's her art that wooed me with this review. That Cosmic Sillage collage is (pun shamelessly intended) out of this world!

Justin Vivian Bond's Afternoon of a Faun is without question my favorite of the ETdO perfumes, though I've a deep affection for Tilda Swinton's Like This, and Roland Mouret's Une Amourette is pretty great, too. Quite frankly, there are so many greats from the house that it's hard to choose!

Tickled pink just at a chance to be in the draw for this one. Live in NYC should the perfume gods smile upon me.

  • I live etat libre d'orange they are one of the most unique and challenging houses I have run across. I am a rose lover and anything with rose I need to try so a fruity, spicy, and animalic rose sign me up! That bottle is so gorgeous as well I love that shade of blue and the metal plaque is an amazing addition! The basis for this fragrance being the scientific method is awesome as I am a science geek so this peaks my interest more than the rose and using isaac newton as an example makes me even more curious! Thanks for the awesome review and giveaway! I am in the USA in AZ

  • Not sure what that all means in terms of small  but would like to try that  new Etat fragrance , my favourite are La Fin and Remarkable People .Thanks.Damian London

  • I really enjoyed the precise description of the different stages of the perfume. I'm beyond excited!! (From the EU)

  • I have to say from all the editors, contributors, reviewers… call it what you want to call it Despina Veneti is super good of hyping up fragrances, only second best after mr Jara . I have sampled I am Trash because of her review for Cafleurebon last September (I think?) , and bought it a week after. Honeyed rose , mouth watering sweetness, lychee, complex aromatic identity, patchouli and last but not least fantastic performance? Be gentle to me and my credit cards Despina . I do appreciate the performance- I do like my fragrances to loud, and long lasting. Thx to all involved in this giveaway. USA most of the year, and Germany from time to time

  • Dubaiscents says:

Honey rose… that’s all you had to say to catch my interest in this scent by an amazingly fun house! I recently purchased another scent by Mr Bisch, Attaquer Le Soleil Marquis de Sade which I love. I would love the chance to try this with the juicy lychee and apple mixed with dark and sexy rose! I am in the US.

  • Interesting sounding fragrance like most Etat Libre d’Orange. The only one I own is Remarkable People which I blind bought recently and really like it. Enjoyed the article and hope to get a chance to try this and more. Thanks, US

  • I simply adore rose perfumes and this Despina's review make me want to try this one for sure, rose and honey sounds very aphrodisiac.

True Lust is one of my very favorite smells from Etat Libre perfume House.

I love to try this one for sure!  I live in EU.

  • aurora_ru says:

Love to see this new direction of concepts the Etat Libre d'Orange is trying out – retro-scientific, but with contemporary urban twist. I think it fits so good with the popcultural style of the company. It gives place for different interpretations. Reading the article, I especially enjoyed the moment: "What would have happened if the great scientist had been hit by a gigantic, fully scented rose instead? .. (as) both rose and apple have the damascones as common facets". Science could sound erotic, too.

Thank you for the draw! My favorite from the ELDO line is Eau de Protection. I am in the EU.

  • My favourite is Rien Intense. Despina describing an "increasingly carnal and animalic" rose piqued my interest as I'm a rose addict. Somehow, I think, Experimentum Crucis will go quite nicely with Rien Intense. Thanks for draw. East Midlands, UK

  • Frederic Chevalier says:

This is a epical review like reading Odesseus. État Libre d'Orange is one of my most beloved brand and i've always a bottle of Putain des Palaces, Après-midi d'un Faune, Rien… in my closet. I'd love to try this. I'm in EU , Belgium.

  • damianachi says:

I enjoyed reading about how this unique rose is combined with honey and how the perfume becomes increasingly animalic. My favorite perfume from this house is You Or Someone Like You. I live in the USA. Thank you!

  • That's great Despina interviewd the perfumer for this review. It's so rare you get to hear directly from the perfumer's perspective.  My favorite ELDO is Afternoon of a Faun. I live in the USA.

  • I truly loved Despina's review of such an interest fragrance. The review hit a lot of areas that had me hooked such as Newton's gravity and science, sensuality and eroticism, love and animalistic rose/honey combo. I have not tried anything from État Libre d'Orange but I would be overwhelmed with JOY if I could try Experimentum Crucis. I live in CA, USA. One LOVE Despina!!!

  • Wow! I would like to got hit in the head by a gigantic, cosmic rose! Rose that is deep and dark, carnal and animalic, sensual and optimistic, erotic but reassuring. It looks like someone decided to create a list of my favorite adjectives. I can not wait to try this fragrance! I live in the EU.

  • WaltherP99 says:

Congrats Despina – top quality review and pictures complimenting it the right way. From mouth watering fruity sweetness to a bit animalic and sensual.

I will try to sample “Experimentum Crucis” when it’s out because i do own and love 3 fragrances composed by Quentin Bisch, Mystery Tobacco Carolina Herrera beeing my favorite , and i have a feeling it will be a pretty good one.
I do own 2 Etat Libre d’Orange frags- 100 ml’s of You Or Someone Like (gift) and Like This – extremely underated fragrance that always makes me happy … by far my favorite from the brand imo.
Virginia USA or London UK (and EU)  … at least 97/100 times.

  • What I enjoyed the most about Despina's review is the explanation of feeling sensuality and aphrodisiac atmosphere when wearing the fragrance! I also liked her note breakdown. I own the sample set of Etat Libre d'Orange and so far I liked all of them surprisingly! I live in Arizona United States! Thanks!

I loved Despina's article ! The digital collages are wonderful and compliment an already perfect review.

I can't get enough of rose in perfumery and this seems special .The opening fruity rose trancending into a more animalic and sensual sounds just perfect. I'm ready to "collide with this cosmic rose and let it become one with me"

Etat Libre d'Orange have some of the quirkiest and most  creative concepts in perfumery. I can't wait to try this new creation based on Experimentum Crucis.

My favorites from État Libre d'Orange are  Rien and Fat Electrician.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

Great review by Despina! Not only did I enjoy the pictures, but I also enjoyed the prose as it made long for this fragrance. I love the idea of a jammy rose and honey fragrance with awesome projection that only needs a few sprays. My favorite line is: "Honey creates two addictions: an edible one, and an animalic, almost sexual one: in the end the scent is all about attraction! Experimentum Crucis is bold. Every facet is overdosed. No compromise. After all, it is État Libre d'Orange!” Thanks for the draw and I live in the US!

  • Oh yes, I love patchouli and rose frags, and from this house I expect it will not be an ordinary one. I love this house and I already have 8 bottles on my shelf. My favourite one is Hermann A Mes Cotes Me Paraissait Une Ombre. I live in Poland.
