Chances are if you live in the Northern Hemisphere… it’s hot.  You may want to be by the sea, but aren’t a fan of aquatic fragrances. When you think of “fresh” fragrances do you think of salt? That is the translation of Carner Barelona Salado. What is uniquely lovely in this new scent is that the mix of cool crisp cucumber, wood and salt combine as an alternative to the typical perfumes that use calone, a synthetic note many find polarizing.  Carner Barcelona is the Spanish house started by Creative Director Sara Carner who once told me that her signature was wood… down to the ethically sourced flacon stoppers (you can read her Creative Director article here).  This is the second in the new Fresh Collection editor Sebastian Jara  reviews as in late May he was excited about Carner Barcelona Fig Man

    I like that Sebastian initially thought Salado was for salad, as in carrots and tomato (Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, anyone?) and I thought the same thing! I’m elated it means salt because I love salty fragrances. Could this be similar to Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt? Or even better, Heeley’s Sel Marin? I hope to find out. I’m in the USA.

    I loved his idea about using a salty fragrance in the summer instead of a more generic aquatic. Most summer everyone walks around smelling like fruit or shower gel but salt could be refreshing and new!

    I liked the way Sebastian explained some of the qualities of the cucumber note. I had never really thought about cucumber having a marine quality to it, but when he mentioned it I definitely agreed. I would love to get my nose on this one.

    I love a salty Aquatic scent, with the green cucumber note, sound like a great tasty recipe, carner Barcelona are good at recreating places and moods.

    This sounds really different. I love how descriptive Sebastian was in his video. My cousin and I used to eat cucumbers with salt all the time as kids so this sounds like it may bring me back there. Very interested. From CT USA. Thanks for the giveaway

    I love the note of salt in fragrances. The saltiest fragrance that I have smelled is Rassasi’s Chastity, and there’s just something very unique and alluring about the note of salt. This fragrance sounds like it has tons of it, and I love that. (Commenting from FL, USA)

    I love Carner Barcelona, El Born and Tardes are my favorite. Based on Sebastian’s review of the 3 I order samples, Salado and Fig Man are Great! I always love how Sebastian describes fragrances, he definitely hits the nail right on the head.

    I loved sebastian’s review of this salty aquatic and fresh fragrance. I liked his honesty with struggling with this kind of fragrance. I love fresh green fragrances and salt. I adore bvlgari, but if this performs better than marine I would be overjoyed. USA resident and registered.

    Time and again Sebastian brings up the fragrances which are masterpiece and Carner Barcelona Salado doesn’t seem to be different to me. Cucumber with salty notes, woody and musky; I mean What else you can expect from one scent. I would love to try this one and have in my collection as it has everything I want in my fragrance. I am from USA and thanks for considering me!

    In your face salty scared me. I smelled real ambergris once and wanted to vomit like a whale. Ugh. I never loved aquatics until I got Calvin Klein Reveal. The top notes sound great, and I love cucumber everything! I’m in USA.

    I loved how direct and to the point the review was! Also, without doing 30 minutes reviews, Sebastian can bring the scent to life better than long, drawn-out reviews. Nice work on an interesting sounding scent!

    It sounds interesting. Very summery and dry sounding. Cucumber is a great note, especially for summery fragrances. I’m curious what makes this smell so much more salty than other salt notes? Especially since he’s reviewed other salty scents before.

    The salt is cool, but what sold me is the cucumber note. I love that smell, and if done right the projection is amazing. However, even if I don’t win, I will grab a bottle. I have a major event coming up, and I love being different. Thanks for this new mix Carner

    I can’t think of a salt note that i’m familiar with, but i do love the smell of fresh cucumbers! i also love fresh aquatic scents, so this sounds lovely, including the petitgrain, and love the idea of the orange blossom. Loved all the notes that sebastian mentioned and i enjoy cucumber salad with sour cream and dill, but i should try it alone with salt. and i think the Carner Barcelona bottles are beautiful.     The name is interesting. I did not know the fragrance is salty but the addition of notes like cucumber kinda fulfill the expectations of non-Spanish speakers who thought the name hinted at abundance of vegetal notes. My fav. from Carner is D600. I am in US.

    This is a very good description of this fragrance by Sebastian, I want to know if it has that Jo Malone Wood and Sea salt vibe. I saw a review on Fig Man and it sounds interesting as well. I’d like to get my nose on them both.

    Loved Sebastian’s review! It sounds like such a fresh fragrance with a salty edge. The only fragrance that I’ve tried that is similar to this is Jo Malone’s Sea Salt & Sage (which I love). But this sounds even better with the orange blossom and cucumber notes. It really sounds like an even refreshing scent.

    I tried Salado as a sample from Twisted Lily and love it. The balance of cucumber and salt is really beautiful. Appreciate Sebastian’s review–here in California street vendors sell fruits (including cucumbers) sprinkled with salt.

    I love salty, ozonic aquatic scents! I have not sampled this yet, actually I have only sampled one from this house. I think it was BoBo, and it was way to sweet for my taste. This sounds interesting though, as BoBo was definitely strong as far as sillage goes and longevity. Thank you for the draw. US.

    Like Sebastian, I find some aquatic and ozonic fragrances difficult to wear. I wonder if the salt note in this one will be like Sel Marin by James Heeley, a fragrance that was quite bracing to me. I am interested in the wood and must notes along with the cucumber.

    I can say I like “salty” perfumes, but not in all variations. For example I like fresh salty, aquatic- salty perfumes, but not florale- salty. Oh.. cucumber?!! I wanna test this perfume.

    I find the idea of a fragrance with a mostly salty accord intriguing. I also like how Sebatian described the cucumber note. I also liked that he didn’t know whether to classify it as a fruit or vegetable. It’s technically both, botanically a fruit but cooking wise it is used a vegetable LOL

    As i said a couple of times Sebastian imo is the best fragrance reviewer – both on Youtube , and here on Cafleurebon. I follow him since the early days of his old channel called Man Loves Cologne .
    Salt , cucumbers and petitgrain – i’m not sure i do have experience with something similar . I’ll gladly add Salado to my collection.
    D600 is the best one from Carner Barcelona from the ones i know.To me of course . My girfriend loves it on me – bought me a bottle , but she said she does not want me to wear it if she is not around haha
    I do like a lot Palo Santo too – own a small 10ml decant .

    As usual, Sebastian describes the scent vividly and specifically. I like how he describes his personal tastes and preferences, but also speculates about how others with different orientations might like the fragrance. I like how, as described, this fragrance sounds very natural smelling. Some aquatics have a synthetic quality that I don’t care for. I am in the US.

    To me Carner Barcelona is a house every fragrance lover should explore. Pretty sure no matter what taste you got, you’ll find pleasing and unique fragrance suited for your needs. The one I found was Ambar Del Sur , and of course the reason was Sebastian and his review for Cafleurebon. I was intrigued because of his review, sampled it , and bought it soon after.
    Now again because of him my CC is in jeopardy again . I Love eating salted cucumbers, especially in the summer, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy Salado too .

    I think Sebastian did an excellent job reviewing this one, he put an image in my head already, just from looking at the bottle and Hearing his description I felt like was sniffing the bottle at first hand, a juicy cucumber over filled with salty delicious water as I take a first slice… but anyways he did make me very curious also maybe because I’ve never really smelled a cucumber fragrance so I’m really interested.I watch him all the team and tend to look at his videos when I look into niche fragrances, so if he loves it as a freshie I can definitely take his word for it, 3 thumbs up!

    I rarely like salt in perumery, but for example I like very much Sel Marin Heeley and Zeitgeist J.F. Schwarzlose- very nice aquatic-salty fragrances.

    If it’s just salt NO , but if it’s well composed cucumber, salt and bitter citruses sure I do.
    I was instantly reminded of lemon and cucumber cake I do quite often. Pastry Chef in the house.
    Salado is not one of those typical fresh fragrances , and after I saw Mr Jara review I just need to smell it .
    I was curious about Carner Barcelona mid 2018 . Saw a few YouTube videos mostly about Palo Santo and D600. I presume both bestsellers. To be honest I was not impressed. But there’s one Carner Barcelona fragrance that “Shook me all night long” called El Born. Usually I don’t like buying fragrances without proper testing, but El Born Shook me so hard, I was like “Get my money asap”. What a gorgeous scent !
    I’m so glad I got 100 , and not 50ml bottle.

    I knew the name Carner Barcelona for a while , and I watched a few YouTube reviews , and read some on Cafleurebon , but I never had a chance to smell their creations up until a few weeks ago. Because of Marianne Butler beautiful Cafleurebon review ordered a sample of Volcano , and I was so impressed that finally pulled the trigger last week. 10/10 fragrance .
    Volcano is way too heavy for the summer , but Salado sounds just about right for the hot weather. Salty cucumber, a bit oceanic , and woody too. I imagine myself laying on some distant beach reading Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels , end eating a Mediterranean salad.
    Sign me up please.

    Sebastian is always incredibly knowledgeable. I’m glad he found out Salado referred to salt and not salads! The fragrance sounds amazing! I enjoy the light and fresh cucumber scent so I would definitely like to sample this one.

    I knew the name Carner Barcelona because of Cafleurebon and Youtubers , but up util ~ 3 months ago i was not aware how great El Born is.Went to a team building and a guy was wearing in. It’s almost unreal king of smell , and i’m not a guy you could impress so easily . 1/4 of my bottle is already gone.

    According to Sebastian Solado is happy and uplifting fresh and green scent – exactly what i need right now.

    The only fragrance that i own from Carner Barcelona is 100ml of Palo Santo.My favorite CB , but i only know ~ 1/3 of their offerings.
    I’m also curious about the new Beso collaboration project .I wonder if Europerfumes will start caring it in the States ?!?
    Salado is fresh , woody , green , aquatic and salty like a family vacation in Santorini .
