Recently Curbed Magazine did a feature about the rise of Elizabeth Street as the go -to- destination for all things scented in New York City, an area I dubbed “The Fragrance District” (and a good starting off point if you love niche and artistic perfumery). There are so many more great places for perfume shopping in New York City, especially now as tourism returns and boutiques are open for business. In the two years since my last update in 2020 much has changed in our city. While we still live with the specter of COVID and its variants we have found a way to go about our daily routines that we took for granted prior to March 2020. We are still seeing the ebb and flow of the fragrance business settling into how the consumer will take in their scent fix. Curated “Pop Ups” are a new trend as real estate prices go up and will add to the overall New York City perfume shopping experience.

With closings there are new openings. Fragrant spots worthy of attention, A Perfume Goldmine, The Maker, Olfactory Art Keller, Olfactory NYC (Bleecker Street) and The RUBIN MUSEUM SCENT EXPERIENCES WITH CHRISTOPHE LAUDAMIEL to name a few, with some re-openings on the horizon.
While fragrance buying migrated online during the pandemic, there is nothing like the experience of going into a brick-and-mortar shop so you can browse and sniff to your nose’s content.
