Best Fragrances of 2024 Overview (Ermano and Michelyn) + Part 1 Giveaway

Best Fragrances of 2024

Best Fragrances of 2024 an overview Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief and Ermano Picco Editor

For as long as ÇaFleureBon has been giving end of year Best Fragrance awards (2010)(2011), (2012), (2013)(2014), (2015), (2016) (2017), (2018), (2019) (2020), (2021)  (2022) and 2023 there is always the question, “was this a good year for perfume”? We assure you despite living in an often challenging and  conflict-ridden year, politically, professionally and for many personally, it was a good year for perfume. There was something for everyone. It was a year of stark contrasts. Skin scents that were soft and subtle and bold statement making fragrances. In 2024, extrait versions of niche best sellers were everywhere. Some brands took the originals, reworked them and brought them to the next level, by adding a hero ingredient that elevated the fragrance. MATIERE PREMIERE founded by Aurelien Guichard was the best collection of Extraits for me, but more later- Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

   Premio Aromata awards

Best Fragrances of 2024 Best Trends: Immersive and multi-sensorial events, featuring fragrance linked with the arts. One example, The Premio Aromata awards founded by Laura Amato and held in Rome was dedicated to the connection between literature and perfume.  –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief @aromata2024

Worst Trends: TOO MANY perfumes. I read on one online database that over 2000 fragrances were released in 2024. I believe that is underrepresenting what actually was launched. Some new companies released 8-9 at a time. Where are they going to be sold? There may be some gems among them, but too much clutter -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Best Fragrances of 2024 Best Creative Director: Alessandro Brun of Masque Milano and Moe Khalaf of Kajal Perfumes Paris

Best Creative Director Alessandro Brun of Masque Milano 2024

Alessandro Brun of Masque Milano: The visionary creative director of Masque Milano, stands as the epitome of excellence in 2024. Renowned for his unwavering passion for quality and craftsmanship, Brun championed the philosophy of “slow perfumery,” meticulously guiding the creation of fragrances that resonate deeply with emotion and artistry. This year, his leadership brought us three extraordinary additions to the Le Donne di Masque line, Catherine (Caroline Dumur), Diana (Vanina Muracciole), and Vaiana (Mackenzie Reilly), along with the breathtaking Alcove in the Emerald Collection. Composed by Karine Chevallier, Alcove is a masterful ode to Mysore sandalwood, its profound beauty capable of moving the heart. Brun’s untimely passing in 2024 leaves a void in the perfume world, yet his legacy of artistic dedication and olfactory excellence will continue to inspire and enchant perfume lovers for generations to come. – Ermano Picco, Editor  @masquemilano @milanofragranze @gliemems

Moe Khalaf of Kajal best fragrances of 2024

Moe Khalaf of Kajal: Moe Khalaf celebrated 10 years as the creative director and founder of Kajal in 2024. I first met Moe in 2017 at Esxence and will tell you that I have not met a more humble, kind, respectful and generous man. He is incredibly detailed oriented, from the bottles (which should win best bottles every year) caps, which reflect his love of architectural design and of course in choosing the perfumers and working with them closely so they achieve his vision. Kajal IV was awarded an Art and Olfaction Award, and while Moe was attending the ceremony, with perfumer Kevin Mathys, he sent me a photo of the Golden Pear.  He also allows them space for input as we learned from Patrick Muller’s introduction to Lamar Noir. This year we were treated to Äican, (spoiler alert it is one of my top fragrances of the year), and Lamar Caviar (Mark Buxton). –Michelyn Camen @kajalperfumes

Black fades Ming4

Best Fragrances of 2024: Best Fragrance you never heard of: Black Fades Ming4
The best fragrance I never heard of was an amazing discovery I made in Pitti Fragranze; The Hong Kong based brand Black Fades that instantly won me with their aesthetic mixing Asian traditional minimalism, and industrial concrete replacing the classic black lacquer. Their offer includes beautifully crafted candles and incense boxes, as well as various eau de parfums that exude a genuine taste of the contemporary Chinese art of perfumery. The epitome of this refinement is Ming4, a woody chypre fragrance where myrrh, incense, and oud swirl around the best chrysanthemum bouquet I have smelled in years. – Ermano Picco @blackfades.co

Best Fragrances Of 2024 Best Perfumer: Meo Fusciuni (Guiseppe Imprezzabile)

A poet, a photographer, a world-traveler, an aromatic alchemist and true olfactive artist, Guiseppe Imprezzabile aka Meo Fusciuni creates liquid emotions for his brand Meo Fusciuni and this year for Astrophil & Stella’s In Extremis. Buio, Last Season and In Extremis couldn’t be more different, yet each are masterpieces that give us glimpses into his soul, and into our own. –Michelyn Camen @meofusciuni

Best Fragrances of 2024 Natural Perfume: Hiram Green Philtre

Drawing inspiration from the legendary love story of Tristan and Isolde, independent natural perfumer Hiram Green unveiled Philtre in 2024, a creation that instantly captivated me with its extraordinary and intricate interpretation of carnation—the most nuanced and unique we have encountered in decades. A true marvel for perfume aficionados, Philtre makes the heart race with its masterful craftsmanship and homage to Caron Bellodgia, the iconic 20th-century carnation masterpiece born from the love story of Ernest Daltroff and Félicie Wanpouille. The fragrance opens with a vibrant, peppery burst, unfolding into a mesmerizingly rich floral and balmy symphony that is nothing short of breathtaking. – Ermano and Michelyn @hiram_green

Best Fragrances of 2024 Best Discovery: Tayshaba and Badar Parfums

Tayshaba emerges as 2024’s most thrilling discovery in artistic perfumery, blending French craftsmanship with a deep homage to Sudanese heritage. Founded by the visionary Maiada El Khalifa, the brand seamlessly bridges cultures, creating fragrances that are as evocative as they are innovative. Under the guidance of renowned perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, El Khalifa honed her craft, weaving Sudanese traditions and raw materials into French olfactory precision. The result is a collection that feels entirely fresh yet deeply rooted in history, celebrating Sudan’s rich aromatic legacy—think smoky incense, desert blooms, and warm spices—through a refined, modern lens. Mrs. El Khalifa definitely delivers an exhilarating new voice in perfumery, expanding the map of cultural storytelling and artistry in scent creation. – Ermano Picco @tayshaba.paris

Badar Parfums: Badar Parfums is a new French house that combines the rich history of French haute perfumery with the complexity of Arabic perfumery. The owner chose to launch two perfumes in his inaugural collection, Estelle by Margaux Le Paih GUERIN and Sinai composed by Amelie Bourgeois. Badar Parfums should be on your radar, and is currently not sold in the USA. We hope that changes soon. -Michelyn Camen @badarparfums

Frederic Malle leaves Editions de Parfums

photo via FredericMalle.com

Frederic Malle

Pia is indeed a cornerstone of the perfume community and deserving of this honor. My MVPP is Frederic Malle who left his eponymous brand in June this year nearly 24 years after he launched Editions de Parfums. Before him, the names of perfumers were never known to the public. This is a quote former Contributor Tim Girvin included in his article about Malle. When I “came up with the term ‘Editeur de Parfums’ ten years ago I was determined to liberate perfumers from the kinds of restraints often imposed by marketers and focus groups. I work as an editor works with writers. I give these ‘fragrance authors’ complete freedom to explore and express their ideas.” We owe Monsieur Malle quite a debt. –Michelyn Camen

Fragrance Alliance Network

Best Fragrances Of 2024: Best Concept: Fragrance Alliance Network

I first learned about the Fragrance Alliance Network, founded by Gustavo Romero, through brand ambassador Hernando Courtright. From what I’ve seen, there’s nothing quite like it in NYC or even across the US. Opportunities to learn about perfume are surprisingly limited, but this network uniquely fills that gap. You can attend online classes or if you are in NYC special events. If you’ve ever been curious about perfume-making, the network offers classes where you can explore blending scents or delve into the science behind creating fragrances. These classes are great for anyone who is interested in fragrance- from beginners testing their creativity to enthusiasts expanding their expertise including navigating and understanding regulations. What makes the Fragrance Alliance Network stand out for me, is that it merges education with collaboration. It’s a space where fragrance lovers and industry professionals come together, sharing ideas and learning from one another, while helping brands and individuals turn their creative visions into reality. – Michelyn Camen @fragrancalliancenetwork

American Legends by Michael Edwards

American Legends by Michael Edwards photo Ermano

Best Fragrances of 2024: Best (fragrance) Book: American Legends – The evolution of American fragrances

Michael Edwards’ American Legends is undoubtedly the standout perfume book of 2024, a masterful tribute to the pioneers who shaped the American fragrance industry. Taking nearly five years to complete, this meticulously researched, and elegantly written work reflects Edwards’ unparalleled dedication to his craft. Known as the “Fragrance Bible” creator, and the Perfume Experts Expert Edwards delves deep into the stories of iconic figures, with a particularly heartfelt admiration for Estée Lauder, whose groundbreaking vision revolutionized modern perfumery. Through vivid storytelling and rare insights, Edwards explores Lauder’s transformative impact, celebrating her as a trailblazer who made luxury fragrances accessible while maintaining an uncompromising standard of quality. American Legends is enriched by stunning imagery and Edwards’ profound understanding of the art and business of fragrance. A true homage to the American perfume heritage, this book is essential reading for anyone who cherishes the artistry and history of scent. – Ermano and Michelyn @michael_edwards_official @fragrancesoftheworld

DSH Perfumes HOME LOVE

Best Fragrances of 2024 Best Home Fragrance: DSH Perfumes HOME LOVE

Award-Winning perfumer Dawn Spencer Hurwitz of DSH Perfumes, is known for her wide range of artistic perfumes and Heirloom Elixir Limited Editions, but not for candles or home fragrance…until recently. This autumn, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz invoked her olfactive magic to create a new collection of soy and beeswax candles and room / linen sprays bringing the same level of sophistication, elegance, and materials to her HOME LOVE fragrances as her award-winning perfumes.  And, not only are the fragrances gorgeous on their own, you can mix and ‘layer’ the fragrances to create your own unique atmospheres. One of the favorite pairings at Dawn’s studio is Baies & Zebra Wood with Bed of Roses for a luxuriously lush woody floral, but my favorite pairing is Plumeria Lei and ABEX series: Oranges which creates a sunny, uplifting tropical escape. Burn time 30 hours, 30 grams and $30, really !-Michelyn Camen @dshperfumes

Most Disappointing Perfume: It’s a category. I haven’t seen so many perfumes marketed as “Smells Like” since the 1980s. They are back and there is even a “brand” named Smells-A-Like. Don’t be duped-Michelyn Camen

You can’t make this up award fragrances of 2024

Miller Highlife recently released its own perfume, Bar-fume that “captures every familiar dive bar scent, from the satisfying crack of a freshly opened beer to the comforting savory taste of classic bar snacks.” Although I haven’t been to a dive bar in years, I remember the smell quite differently, not like cedarwood, patchouli and champaca, but like BARF-ume. (I was given a sample and I don’t drink beer, so I am not the target customer in all fairness) P.S. Walk of shame not included-Michelyn Camen

Best Fragrances of 2024 Best Designer Fragrance: Cartier La Panthère Elixir

Cartier La Panthère Elixir redefines the designer fragrance category with its striking complexity and artistry, elevating it to near-niche territory. Perfumer Mathilde Laurent drew inspiration from the mysterious allure of the panther, crafting an opulent elixir that exudes strength, sensuality, and elegance. Through a meticulous creative process, Laurent enriched the iconic chypre-floral DNA of La Panthère with velvety jasmine, intensified musky facets, and a captivating dark amber accord, resulting in a fragrance both bold and hypnotic. The packaging has also received a luxurious upgrade, with a redesigned faceted bottle that mimics the feline’s sculpted grace, enhanced by gold accents symbolizing its untamed spirit. This artistic synergy of scent and design solidifies La Panthère Elixir as the pinnacle of designer perfumery in 2024, and the price is less than $200 USD. – Ermano Picco @cartier @mathilde.laurent

Best Fragrances of 2024: Best Celebrity fragrance RS No.9: “A scent that evokes London’s Soho in 1962: a throbbing metropolis bustling with excitement as a new cultural era emerged; a time of discovery and freedom, when anything could — and did — happen, and the year The Rolling Stones played their first gig at the Marquee Club.  999 bottles were available for a short time only, for $99.99 and alas, “You can’t always get what you want, ” as R.S.9 sold out-Michelyn Camen

Rosy and Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royal

Best Fragrances of 2024 Best Perfume You Want to Drink Or Eat: Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royal and  Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection:

Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royal is a fragrance so delectably rich it feels almost edible. Its luscious blend of creamy vanilla and boozy notes creates an intoxicatingly sweet and indulgent aroma, evoking a sense of warmth and nostalgia. For me, it brings back fond memories of my dad, whose Sunday ritual involved savoring a slice of homemade pie dipped in Moscato wine — a guilty pleasure he proudly embraced. Perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer captures here that same comforting pleasure, masterfully balancing gourmand sweetness with the sophistication of Moscato grapes floralcy, making it a delicious scent to experience repeatedly. – Ermano Picco @rosyandearnest @nathaliefeisthauer

Nicolai Parfumeur Createur

Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection: Pavlova, Macaron Bourbon and St. Honore

I agree with Ermano regarding Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royal (and Pistachio Delight); they are standouts. I don’t have a middle name but if I did it would be gourmand. Gourmands were everywhere this year. Unfortunately, many smelled like something you would eat at an airport kiosk. The Gourmandises collection by Patricia de Nicolai elevates gourmands into haute Parisian patisserie, olfactive interpretations of iconic deserts –Michelyn Camen @nicolaiparfumeurcreateur

ÄICAN by Kajal

Best Fragrances of 2024 Best Fragrances of 2024: Best Fragrance Name: Äican from Kajal

Äican, pronounced “I can” is an Arabic term representing gold that has been purified of all imperfections. A piece can be hidden beneath layers of earth and stone, yet even through the darkness, its radiance is not lessened. Äican embodies the transformative power of optimism and renewal. Each bottle includes positive affirmation cards. It was a year where many of us needed to “radiate love.”  –Michelyn Camen @kajalperfumes

Although it was hush hush for a few months, it is official. Bertrand Duchaufour who is unarguably one of the world’s most revered perfumers has announced via Instagram he is starting his own brand L’ENTROPISTE Paris. His first fragrance is inspired by Dorian Gray, the amoral character in Oscar Wilde’s only novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray” who never ages (a painting of him in the attic grows old and shows his soul) “indulgent almost addictive gourmand notes with a stark contrasting austerity.” I am glad I was writing this the day I spotted it on Instagram 12/24/2024 @berttrand.duchaufour @lentropiste

Best Fragrances of 2024 Hall of Fame: Alessandro Brun of Masque Milano and Milano Fragranze

Alessandro Brun was much more than a creative director to me he brought a much-needed leadership to artistic perfumery. Not only hands on, but as Ermano wrote in his article dedicated to Alessandro after his passing on February 19, 2024, he saw and anticipated the profound changes niche perfumery was undergoing and was probably the first to speak about “Slow Perfumery”, extending the basic ideas of Slow Food. Taking time, for time is the greatest luxury, pursuing creativity, being transparent, optimizing costs where possible without compromising excellence and artistry.  Alessandro Brun always credited the perfumers who helped him shape his vision and a way of spotting talent like Julien Rasquinet, Luca Maffei, McKenzie Reilly, and Alexander Lee (to name a few). We miss you Alessandro and we ask our readers and viewers to help continue Masque Milano and Milano Fragranze by purchasing.  In that article, (please read it here) I wrote: “There is a saying you die twice, once when they bury you and finally when they stop thinking or saying your name. Alessandro Brun, you will live on for many, many years to come.”

  • Every fragrance mentioned in this blog is unique in its own way. The one that really stands out to me though, is Estelle by Badar Perfumes. Its notes look as if a defining elements have been taken from people’s gardens all around the world and intertwined with one another to form a spectacular fusion of scents with plum, vanilla, honey and labdanum being the standouts. I loved that no two fragrances overlapped or clashed in this list. They all had their own identities and niche properties that made it so interesting. I can’t wait to see more blogs like this in the future. Merry Christmas and happy new year.

    Greece, EU.

  • Ramses Perez says:

I’ll start by saying I want to try all the fragrances mentioned in the article as I haven’t had the chance to do so. Now, 2,000 fragrances released this year? At least half are clones I promise you. I recognize the houses and names of most of the fragrances as I have been pretty active this year and it was a busy year indeed overall. The Matiere Extraits look great, Margaux Le Paix Guerin is certainly a perfumer on the rise and with a gourmand touch like no other and the passing of Alessandro Brun was truly a shock to many. These are a few of the highlights but I do agree that less is more. I’d rather a house launched 2/3 fragrances and promotes them/explains the process than entire collections that get forgotten in the mix. Should I win, I’d love to try Badar Parfums Estelle to get the Arabic/French artistry behind it. I’m located in the USA.

  • Thank you for your fabulous and informative articles. I’ve learned so much throughout the years. I do enjoy reading about the brands and especially about the perfumers behind the fragrances. As a fan of Hiram Green I would love to try Philtre. I will be searching for American Legends. Happy Holidays! MI USA

  • Your best of is certainly a varied one. There is something for everyone. Mio Fusciuni, Philtre and Estelle are on my radar. I choose Philtre. I love heliotrope but not sweet scents. I am disappointed in the sweet gourmand trend. NY state USA.

  • All of these are so deserving and wonderful and remind me that there is greatness amid the sea of dupes, syrupy gourmands and “beast mode” screechwoods! There is ingenuity and uniqueness and cultural pride! And those shackles of the “good ol boy” network is loosening and the indie house will never die!!
Thank you for a well thought out list, and thank you for the generous giveaway. Since I havé philtre (and adore it) but do not have Badar it’s an easy pick for me. I am located in USA.

  • I was the most interested in the aican by kajal because I’m familiar with the house and they put out quality stuff.
RS No.9 looked like a cool bottle and gave off LV bottle vibes.
But I would love Badar Estelle because the notes sound very cozy.
    Woods,vanilla,caramel,honey and musks

  • PerfumesforLife says:

excellent year review. I did not know a lot about these colognes. The synopsis was great. I am definitely interested in trying Kajal IV and RS No. 9 bc I am fond of Soho retro. I am interested in trying Estelle by Badar as I find the notes intriguing at this level of perfumery.

  • Great fragrances, black fades sounds amazing and striking, rosy & earnest vanilla rhum royal sounds excitig, they all sound fantastic but Badar Parfums Estelle sounds delectable. The notes feel great and irresistable, i’d love to smell it, the honey, plum and vanilla all sound very captivating and alluring.

  • Wow, what an exciting and inspiring list! Several of these fragrances and achievements stand out to me. Margaux Le Paih Guerin’s impressive contributions to perfumery at such a young age are remarkable. Her work with BDK Parfums and Sora Dora piques my interest, especially since her creativity spans so many disciplines.

I also admire the recognition of Pia Long and Frederic Malle. Pia’s dedication to educating the perfume community and demystifying regulations is invaluable, and Frederic Malle’s legacy as a pioneer who brought perfumers into the spotlight truly changed the industry.

The Fragrance Alliance Network sounds like a fantastic initiative, especially for fostering collaboration and learning. I’d love to attend one of their classes someday. As for the scents themselves, Cartier La Panthère Elixir is calling my name with its opulent take on a classic chypre-floral.

Michael Edwards’ American Legends is another highlight I’m eager to delve into the stories of American fragrance history and the evolution of this art form.

Lastly, I’m intrigued by Hiram Green’s Philtre and would love to try it.

    I am from the EU

  • Quite an impressive list of 2024’s best fragrances and most of them I have yet to try. I will need to keep a list of my own with your suggestions here and try to track them and test them.
I would love to win Hiram Green’s Philtre as I know this house is very praised by the connoiseurs, but, alas, never tried anything from them.
    Thanks!

  • Interesting year with many great fragrances, to me aican from kajal sounds unique, both in name and scent, just like purified gold.
i’d like to try hiram green philtre
    I am from Serbia EU

  • I am glad that you paid tribute to Alessandro Brun, his brand Masque Milano brought innovation to perfumery just like Frédéric Malle before him. I am delighted to see Meo Fusciuni elected, I loved Viole Nere and I can’t wait to try In extremis. I don’t like gourmand perfumes so I am intrigued by Patricia de Nicolai’s collection because I love her work (Iris Medici intense/Riviera verbena) but also by Aican de Kajal. Congratulations to Hiram Green, what courage to have brought back the carnation, it is really the perfume that I would like to win (and also Tryst). I live in France, EU.

  • Such a great overview where do I start
I agree that Frederic Malle was the MVPP and that Bertrand Duchaufour new brand Entropiste is great news. Losing Alessandro Brun was a big loss as he was a true leader and visionary. I love Hiram Green so I would choose philtre which I really want to try as I know his take on carnation will be amazing. I live in the USA

  • I always look forward to the year-end lists! I think I let out an audible snort reading Michelyn’s comment about how many gourmands sadly “smelled like something you would eat at an airport kiosk.” LOL! Sad/funny. But I personally noticed, outside of the perfume enthusiast sphere, a shift in public perception of scent… less “fragrance free” talk and more maximalism in personal and home fragrance. You’ve got to take the “airport food” along with the fine dining, overall I’m glad to see there is more diversity in what I’m smelling and that’s reflected in the range of old and new faces, serious and light-hearted stars in today’s post. This giveaway rocks, I’d love to win either Philtre or Estelle, with a slight initial prefrence for Estelle because Badar is entirely new to me. I’m in the USA, thank you for the draw.

  • This was a great year for the fragrance aficionados. Lots and lots of interesting and unique releases. My favorite launch of 2024 was Amouage’s Outlands. Looking forward to try more from the list you provided here. I am in the EU and my pick if I were to win would be Hiram Green’s Philtre. Thanks

  • Absolutely love Michelyn and Ermanno’s ‘Best of Fragrance’ part 1 post! Their insightful and in-depth analysis provide a fantastic guide for fragrance enthusiasts. It’s clear they have a deep passion for perfumery, making this compilation a must-read for anyone looking to expand their fragrance collection. Looking forward to more from them today as well as the rest of the team.
I would be honored to win Estelle from Badar Parfums.

  • It’s great to catch up on a yea de in review. RS 9 and Miller Lite were quite. Surprise to me. I am a big fan of Hiram Green and have his Slow Dive. Would love to win Philtre

  • wonderscent.mari says:

What a list, for what I read, those are excellent choices. With so many brands appearing every day, these list help me know what to look for.. I am definitely interested in trying the new Lamar Noir by Kajal, which is my favourite perfume house and my goal for 2025 is to explore more the fragrances by Masque Milano & Badar Parfums, which are totally new to me!
Thank you for the beautiful ans amazing list with engaging writing!
Happy Holidays and wishing you a happy new year!

  • Fabulous collection of stars & stand-out scents! There are a few I still need to experience! Lovely words about Alessandro Brun ❤️

  • I love the whole list and I think Philtre is not only the best in the natural perfume category, but also the best perfume of 2024, so I would really like to win that one.

As always, one of the most favourite categories in these lists is the Best Fragrance you’ve never heard of, so I’ll definitely be looking to try Black Fades, although that’s always a particularly difficult task due to poor distribution and unavailability (so I haven’t been able to try Coquet and Vaudou by Alexx and Anton yet).

    EU

  • I have heard many names of many people and fragrances I have never heard of before. It makes me happy to know that there is more to learn about perfumes that are not exactly mainstream. A fragrance that caught my attention was Rhum Royale. The boozy gourmand is a field that I should really look into. If I were to win this draw, I would like to get Estelle as I love really sweet perfumes.

  • This time a year I look forward to reading the Best of .. and it’s always exhilarating to find one’s favorite amongst the winners, in my case Meo Fusciuni’s In Extremis, a perfume I bought a few times over the course of this year for myself and dearest friends.

What sparks my interest are all the fragrances linked with the arts. Well, In Extremis seems to win here, too.

Badar Perfumes’ Estelle would be my choice, if I were to win the draw- never heard of them till now.

    Warm greetings from Portugal

  • Thank you, Michelyn and Ermano, for your always informative, accurate and often amusing descriptions.
I agree- it was a whirlwind year!

Congratulations to Hiram Green, Rosy and Earnest, Masque Milano, Meo Fusciuni and Pia Long (Eau de Boujee) – we love your creativity and passion, which are revealed in your works of art. Also, special congratulations to Laura Amato and the Premio Aromata awards. I was honored to take part as a judge, which was fun and fascinating.

We can’t wait to see what 2025 brings!

I do love a best of list and I’m excited to read about so many new to me brands and fragrances of 2024. Estelle has piqued my interest, especially considering I cannot obtain this perfume in the US. I would love to read more about her and this is the one I would choose if I were to win the draw. I am also interested in the Cartier offering, trying it out may be one of the first things I do in 2025. I live in Oregon.

  • Finally, my favorite series of post to close out the year. I love reading these and discovering what everyone liked. But my favorite thing is hearing about new brands I don’t know about. For example the most exciting to me from this text are Badar Parfums (I hope they get to the US as soon as possible!) and L’ENTROPISTE Paris. I would also love to try Masque Milano’s Alcove. I generally really love the brand and have samples almost all of their fragrances. I am not sure if I’m supposed to pick a fragrances from the two that are offered in this post, but if that is the case I would love to get Badar Estelle. I researched the fragrance a bit and it sounds divine! I’m from Illinois, US. Happy holidays everyone!

  • I am particularly intrigued by the inclusion of Black Fades Ming4 in your list of best fragrances for 2024. The brand’s fusion of Asian heritage with modern perfumery, as highlighted in your overview, resonates deeply with my appreciation for culturally rich and innovative scents. Experiencing Ming4 would be a delightful journey into this unique olfactory blend. Thank you for the opportunity, and happy holidays to the ÇaFleureBon team!

  • I’m excited to hear about the Fragrance Alliance Network. The best way to learn about something is with a hands-on approach. The ability to take classes to explore blending scents and learning about the science behind creating fragrance is appealing. The emphasis on merging education with collaboration, sharing ideas and learning from one another is great. I’m a natural perfume aficionado and would love to Hiram Green’s Philtre, his modern day love potion. MD, USA

  • I love year-end “best-of” lists, and Ça Fleure Bon never, ever disappoints!

I just want to thank everyone at Ça Fleure Bon for upholding standards, and to nod emphatically along with the selection of the entire category of “Smells Like” fragrances as Most Disappointing.

Also, much applause for Michelyn’s identification of “Worst Trend” as the overproduction and oversaturation of the fragrance market, and a raised glass to Masque Milano’s Slow Perfumery. May Alessandro Brun’s memory be a blessing to us all.
    Happy Holidays!

  • 2024 was a year full of fragrances. Like Michelyn mentioned, many brand lineups became quite cluttered. Even attempting to sample the releases from your favorite houses could be quite daunting. Thankfully, though, we certainly got some winners. Aican by Kajal, Oud in White from Laboratorio Olfattivo, and Iris Palladium by Les Eaux Primordiales were among my faves of the year. There are still s many I have yet to try as well. Of the ones mentioned here, I’m most intrigued by the creations of Meo Fusciuni, as I keep reading so many great things but have not managed to snag any samples yet. Philtre by Hiram Green also sounds quite intoxicating. I love a peppery carnation and after experiencing Slowdive and Moon Bloom, I know that the quality will be impeccable. That said, Philtre would be my choice if I were to win. Best of luck to all. I live in NC, USA.

  • Ah, I enjoy Philtre’s review the most, cause it resonated with my own experience of it. At the first spray, it immediately evoked the image of a bouquet of flowers set ablaze—a striking and unforgettable impression. The white floral heart is beautifully contrasted by the smoky nuances of spices and resins, creating a vivid sense of something burning. What’s most fascinating is the subtle, almost tangible presence of honey—rich and realistic—despite it not being listed in the official notes. This interplay of elements makes it an undeniably intriguing fragrance, one that lingers both on the skin and in the mind. I enjoy this articles a lot!

    Greetings from Italy.

  • in these years many people are abandoning designer parfumery, searching for more originality in the niche industry. due most of all to the use of social medias, niche fragrances are becoming always more popular, bringing the industries to produce more references, maybe following the popular trends.
after this consideration, I think that all of the mentioned perfumes are really interesting, and based on what I have smelled, I think that Aican could be one of the best this year.
I would have the chance to win philtre by Hiram Green.
    cheers from Italy.

  • I love the whole list and I think Philtre is not only the best in the natural perfume category, but also the best perfume of 2024, so I would really like to win that one.

As always, one of the most popular categories in these lists is the Best Fragrance you’ve never heard of, so I’ll definitely be looking to try Black Fades, although that’s always a particularly difficult task due to poor distribution and unavailability (so I haven’t been able to try Coquet and Vaudou by Alexx and Anton yet).

  • Thank you for such a wonderful article. Hope to try all the fragrances. Love learning about the brands. My pick would be Hiram Green’s Philtre and would love to try it. Thank you for this chance USA

  • goknitintheocean says:

This is a beautiful year-end wrap up; what sticks with me is the large number of women in creative positions with the mentioned companies, as well as the sadness of the passing of Allessandro Brun. I was introduced to Masque Milano while on a business trip to Portland, Oregon several years ago, and I have such high regard for his formulations. Philtre did get a lot of buzz this year; so terrific for HG! I’m a bit puzzled by some of their blends, but it is always great to have fresh new “voices” of scent out there in the world. Good for them! Overall, I believe I’m most excited about the debut of L’ENTROPISTE fragrances, and look forward to their debut. I’d prefer Philtre if I am to win this drawing; I live in NYC/USA.

    Thank you! Happy New Year!

    Deborah

  • Thank you for the nice selection. I agree that there is a trend of too many perfumes. The reason could be the high profit margin that sounds appealing to new producers, as well as the increasing number of perfume enthusiasts. I like the choice of best perfumer Guiseppe Imprezzabile as he is very creative and uses high quality ingredients. I am very interested in Hiram Green Philtre and would like to win it. From EU.

  • wallygator88 says:

Thanks for the fun collation of these different fragrances. It’s really enjoyable to read this at this time of the year to figure out the highlights of the year.

I absolutely love the sound of both these fragrances. I was listening to Hiram Green talk about his journey on a podcast and his story is so fascinating. Carnation has been a note forever in perfumery and it’s cool to see someone who works with naturals take it into their perfume palette.

Also excited to read about BAdar and try them out.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • So many perfumes, so many great reviews. I adore Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection, especially Macaron Bourbon. I’d love to try Cartier La Panthère Elixir (love Cartier’s work) & Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royal.
Brands I’m dying to try are Masque Milano, Kajal & Badar Parfums.
Congratulations to every Rising Star and Most Valuable Perfume Person selected!
    I’d like Estelle by Badar.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

It was a full year, I see. Many, many releases, a lot of news – good and sad, a lot of work for the busy nosy bees 🙂
I noticed, also, the fusion between cultures – the point where ethnic influences meet elevated craftsmanship can only be the beginning of something very interesting.
A lot of great perfume people were mentioned in this post, along with shortly mentions of …well, some less pleasant aspects of the industry – it’s always good to hear about it, too, education is a must
Being a carnation lover, Philtre would be my choice, if I should be so incredibly lucky to win.

  • I love your year end roundups. I will have to keep coming back to this post because there are simply so many good references. I am so drawn to try Bertrand Duchaufours line, L’entropiste. I really can’t wait. I’ve been eagerly following their updates as well. In terms of your giveaway, I would love to try Estelle by Badar perfumes. I had never heard of this brand before but the notes sound beautiful and I love heliotrope, vanilla and labdanum. I live in the USA.

  • such an interesting read, i would love to smell them all, if i could. but Hiram Greenes Philtre would be my choice! i live in the EU

  • Thank you for this exhaustive part 1 of the best of 2024. As I am not a fashion lover, I love that it is a year of contrasts (something not so difficult with 2000 perfumes launched this year). I find it difficult to understand the economic profitability of so many launches. The saddest news was the death of Alessandro Brun: I have several perfumes from Masque Milano and Milano Fragranze and they are all interesting, some glorious. Another name that concerns me personally is Hiram Green: I have been his follower for years thanks to you and I never tire of his perfumes: I want to try Tryst and Philtre, which I see similarities with Dilettante. Another important name is Mr. Duchaufour and his new independent adventure. I am looking forward to trying Maiada El Khalifa’s perfumes and getting into the olfactory legacy of her country Sudan. I also hope that I have the guidance of the brilliant Mr. Corticchiato. I live in Spain, EU and I would like to win if I were lucky, Philtre and his interpretation of carnation, one of the flowers most associated with my country.

  • Impressive list of 2024’s best of. I need to get my nose on some of the fragrances mentioned here, as I haven’t had the chance to do so. I would be thrilled to win Hiram Green’s Philtre because I admire their fragrances, although I have never owned any of them.
    I’m from Italy, EU.

  • So many to try, despite all the releases that one wouldn’t want to. I would love to try Philtre for the carnation. Looking forward to your other best of year lists! I’m in the US.

  • Wow, so much content in this article! I can’t imagine how much work is involved in evaluating all the new releases in this industry, let alone all the people involved in making it happen. Such a privilege to glean from your insights, Michelyn. Kudos to Hernando of CaFleurBon for his huge part! I have been eying Philtre for some time now based on all the great reviews, and would love to win it if I’m drawn! Although Estelle is entirely new to my knowledge, I’m guessing I would probably love that too… thanks for this generous draw, I live in the US.

  • What a nice read and catch up on so many great perfumers. Hall of Fame for Alessandro Bruno well earned. I was not aware of the “slow perfumery” philosophy but it shows in the brand. One of the one that most intrigues me is Hiram Green, Philtre. And would be my choice if fortunate. I live in the US

  • I enjoy these end of the year lists as both a way to see what other people enjoy and to learn about new houses.
Over the past year I’ve become a big fan of American independent perfumes, jinx, clandestine laboratory, Yaaseen and recently Darren Alan. I’ve never owned a book about perfumes before but will be picking up American Legends by Michael Edward’s in the next few weeks.
I would be interested in Estelle

  • I have to agree that too many perfumes were released. Quality over quantity. Sad reminder that we lost Alessandro Brun, he always released quality fragrances. I wish Bader will come to the USA soon. That is so exciting that Bertrand is starting his own brand, he’s a favorite perfumer of mine. Nice to know Michelyn thinks highly of Nicolai’s new gourmands. I need to test those. These are my favorite articles of the year, such fun to see what everyone loves. I would love to win Estelle since I live in the U.S. and it’s not available here. Happy New Year!

  • I agree so completely that there were too many scents released this year. I’m amazed you could narrow your favorites down to ten, to be honest. It’s overwhelming, but that’s why I keep reading Cafleurebon’s articles: it helps to bring scent to my attention that I would otherwise miss and it’s always fun to hear someone’s take on a scent you have already tried, too! I think Aican sounds like a house I might need to explore coming up, though I have sampled some Masque Milano and HIram Green scents. I live in the US and would select Estelle if picked.

  • Too many perfumes is indeed an issue, also some brands are really hard to get in US, people living Europe in feel the same way about most of American brands .

  • I read all the awards in the article but what really stopped me on my tracks was what I’ve been thinking for way too long – too many new releases. When a House or perfumer cranks them out at a breakneck pace, I wonder, “How good can they be?” The special moment of a carefully curated perfume has been dampened by what? Greed? Ego? Poor self control? The sheer mass of products leads to ennui, loss of trust, loss of excitement. That said, I’d love to try the Philtre! Been hankering for an exciting carnation since Malmaison. I live in NY.

  • Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year Cafleurebon, I’m glad I found you
I’m very picky about fragrances I’m wearing, the huge amounts of new releases i believe is actually a good thing since people could pick from dozens if not even hundreds of options from the genres they like.
Masque Milano and Kajal are both great brands , good to know after Alessandro Brun unfortunate demise the brand is not in a turmoil but in contrary releasing extraordinary new editions . I also love how the things worked out for Moe Khalaf , knowledgeable and humble guy who founded Kajal. Through a lot of hard work and dedication , believe in positivity he was able to expand and develop so much , truly remarkable.
Badar Parfums is on my radar after all the praises Estelle received from Cafleurebon and Instagram.
Margaux Le Paih GUERIN is a future star in perfumery , I don’t know Sora Dora Red and Badar Estelle, but she’s is the author of one fragrance i love – BORNTOSTANDOUD Happy Nuts.
I was not expecting gourmand releases by Parfums de Nikolai, Pavlova, Macaron Bourbon and St Honore are all tempting
Kajal Äikan is pure gold fragrance radiating love according to Michelyn Camen.
    Badar Estelle is my choice
    Thanks a bunch

From Best Fragrances of 2024 ,the overview of Ermano Picco and Michelyn Camen the trends and fragrances I’m drawn to are
“There was something for everyone. It was a year of stark contrasts. Skin scents that were soft and subtle and bold statement making fragrances.”
Contrasts are good for the whole industry i believe, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone.
“Moe Khalaf of Kajal: Moe Khalaf celebrated 10 years as the creative director and founder of Kajal in 2024.”
Well deserved , a mondain surely with its own inimitable style. His affection for art , craftsmanship and business is hard to replicate.
“Badar Parfums: Badar Parfums is a new French house that combines the rich history of French haute perfumery with the complexity of Arabic perfumery.”
    Win-win game
“Best Fragrances of 2024 Rising Star: Margaux Le Paih GUERIN of Flair Paris”
She already achieved so much at her young age.
“Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection: Pavlova, Macaron Bourbon and St. Honore”
Haute Parisian patisserie I’d like to visit.
“Best Fragrance Name: Äican from Kajal”
I agree, my girlfriend is half Indian (from India) , half Arabic and when I asked her she said ÄICAN in Arabic means “perfect gold” whatever that means . If I have to guess that is 24k gold but it could very well have some different, more spiritual meaning.
Badar Parfums Estelle I’d chose if I win
Thank you for the draw EU

  • I only had the chance to try Philtre From Hiram Green from all the scents listed. Philtre is a gorgeous carnation-centered fragrance beautifully executed by the talented Hiram Green.
So many scents were released this year, yet I always look forward to reading Cafleurebon’s best fragrances to know what I should be tracking.
Pia Long has been under my radar for a while and I should be sampling her fragrances very soon. A brand from the legend Bertrand Duchaufour is music to our ears, he’s created many fragrances that I love.
Kajal has been sparking my interest for a long time and I’m eager to try this brand’s fragrances.
Most definitely I should finally get American Legends – The evolution of American fragrances.
Many thanks for this draw. I’d love to get Philtre by Hiram Green. I live in France.

  • Respect for the fine Best of the year overview picks.Reading Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco mini reviews makes me want to smell most , and fragrances by 4 brands asap , Badar Parfums Estelle , Nikolai Parfemeur Createur Gourmandises collection including Pavlova, Macaron Bourbon and St Honore and Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royale
Estelle because of mixture of French haute perfumery with the complexity of Arabic perfumery
Gourmandises collection because of elevated by Patricia de Nicolai to haute Parisian patisserie level not one but three gourmands.
Vanilla Rhum Royale because of creamy vanilla and boozy notes .
The purified of all imperfections gold suits Äikan very well , I sampled the fragrance and it’s magical
Badar Parfums Estelle would be nice

I want to try Estelle because its name alone sparks a sense of elegance and mystery. I imagine it as a fragrance that captures the essence of timeless beauty, blending sophistication with an intriguing depth. The promise of a scent that tells a story—perhaps of starlit nights, quiet strength, or a radiant muse—makes me incredibly curious to experience it.
I’m drawn to perfumes that evoke emotions and create memorable impressions, and Estelle seems like it could be one of those rare gems. Winning this giveaway would give me the chance to discover its artistry and see if it resonates with my personal style and sensibilities.

Thank you for this wonderful list! I’m especially curious about Hiram Green’s Philtre—it sounds so unique with its take on carnation. I am from EU and I’d love the chance to explore these beautiful creations. Thanks for the giveaway!l

  • I’m already liking these best of the year lists. Lots of new releases , 2000 is quite a lot to be fair.
I live how even without Alessandro Brun Masque Milano are bringing extraordinary new fragrance. Moe Khalaf and Kajal success is not a surprise to anyone who knows the house, the amount sophisticated fragrances they have is not overly big but every single one is original and made with quality ingredients. ÄICAN and Lamar Noir are latest editions I can’t wait to try.
Both Badar Parfums and Margaux Le Paih GUERIN future is bright, Estelle is gourmand they created together and I’m intrigued.
Frederic Malle leaving the brand is not a good sign for the future of the house.
I haven’t been to dive bars is a long time too , experimental fragrance i believe. Other than Estelle and the representing purified gold Kajal Perfumes Äikan I’m also intrigued by Nicolai Parfumeur-Createur Gourmandises collection.
Should I win I’d love to receive Estelle

  • I had the chance to meet Hiram Green and experience his work last year at Esxence. I found his perfumes to be exceptional, taking me on a magical imaginary journey to a fairytale England—elegant and exquisitely retro. It’s almost unbelievable that they are crafted from natural raw materials. These are powerful, dreamlike fragrances that truly transport the mind.
I would be thrilled to receive Hiram Green’s Philtre.
Thank you to ÇaFleureBon for the exquisite reviews and these opportunities.

  • 2024 was a big year for fragrances and I must say my favorite part was getting into Kajal Fragrances. Seeing that Moe Khalaf got to share the award for best creative director is refreshing. I love everything about the brand and will be exploring them more heavily in the upcoming year. This article and site has opened my eyes to a lot of what is out there and I appreciate you guys very much.

Of the two offered I would love to win the 50 ml flacon of Hiram Green Philtre. I have yet to try any all natural fragrances so I am sure this would be a great start.

As to what I would like to try….definitely Aican. It’s at the top of my wishlist. Maybe for my birthday here on the 4th

  • Thank you for your fantastic and very informative articles.

2024 was a year of extrait versions, stark contrasts with way too many new fragrances, yet there was a little bit of everything according to Michelyn Camen . Both she and Ermano Picco seem excited for releases by established brands and like Kajal , Masque Milano , Nikolai Parfemeur Createur , renowned perfumers like Bertrand Duchaufour and Patricia de Nicolai , but also for newcomers like Tayshaba and Badar Parfums and Margaux Le Paih GUERIN of Flair Paris.
Thanks to you I’ll sample Badar Parfums Estelle, Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royale, the 3 new Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur gourmands ,Kajal Äikan and Hiram Green Philtre.

  • I am overwhelmed by all of the fantastic fragrances that were highlighted in Best Scent 2024. Each of them were so appealing in their own way, but the one that stands out for me is Badar Parfums Estelle. The mention of honeyed plum has given me that familiar itch of, “I need to smell this NOW.” I’m in the US and thank you for this opportunity to own this one.

  • These end of year lists are always an interesting profile of what’s en vogue and a reminder of how many new fragrances are worth trying. I agree with Micheyln that I’d prefer some brands slowed down and eliminated the “clutter”. Michelyn pointed out the “extract versions of niche best sellers” trend; I like a potent ratio, especially in the cooler months that have finally arrived. From your list, I’m struck by the originality of Black Fades Ming4, am intrigued by Tayshaba’s nod to Sudanese culture, and still need to read Michael Edwards’ American Legends.

I’m in the USA. If I were to win, I’d choose Hiram Green Philtre. Thanks and happy new year!

  • I greatly admire the passion and effort you pour into your perfume reviews. Each one feels like a beautifully crafted story, full of imagery and detail, that takes the reader on a journey. Your descriptions are so vivid that they bring the fragrance to life, making it easy to imagine its essence even without having the chance to experience it personally.
I’m really excited to try the new Lamar Noir by Kajal, which happens to be one or my favorite perfume brands.

I would like to win Hiram Green Philtre.

  • This was such a lovely read. I totally agree with Michelyn about the crazy amount of perfumes being released and the “smells like” perfume trend. It is hard to see the wood through the trees and I appreciate Michelyn and Ermano have done the work for us.
Lovely to see Pia Long and Dawn Spencer Hurwitz highlighted and a tribute to Alessandro Brun.
To try for 2025 must be l’Entropiste and Meo Fiosciuni which I still haven’t tried (and can’t spell).
I have tried Philtre by Hiram Green in the Perfume Lounge in Amsterdam and loved it, so would love a chance to win that. Marit in the Netherlands

  • I was excited about the Best Fragrances of 2024 series! I’ve enjoyed reading through them in the past. 2024 is the first year I haven’t tried many of the new releases in a very long time. It has been a hectic year, so I’m glad I can read through everyone’s favorite fragrances of the year.

I was surprised to read that over 2,000 fragrances were released this year! I agree that that’s far too many.

I love chrysanthemums, so I’m very intrigued by Black Fades Ming4. Philtre is one of my favorite fragrances of the year (out of the ones I did try), so I’m not surprised to see it on the list. I haven’t tried anything from Badar Parfums, but I’m interested in Estelle. It sounds like a beautiful fragrance.

I had no idea a perfume was released based on Miller Highlife, but I can imagine it’s disappointing.

Sadly, I have not tried the Gourmandises collection from Nicolai yet, but I’ve been very interested in them since their release. St. Honore sounds especially beautiful.

I would love the opportunity to own a bottle of Hiram Green Philtre. It’s such a beautiful fragrance! I am located in the USA.

Thank you to everyone for this amazing article on the best fragrances of 2024, and thank you to the perfumers for their giveaways.

  • I cherish the classic forms thinking as Hard work pays off, that’s I’m happy for Kajal and Moe Khalaf worldwide success and also for Margaux Le Paih GUERIN. Moe look on the first picture is impeccable my the way. Alessandro Brun was a gentleman with “slow perfumery” philosophy, his legacy lives on.
One alchemist like Meo Fusciuni, natural perfumer like Hiram Green and new brands Tayshaba and Badar Parfums impressed Ermano and Michelyn.
Frederic Malle leaving his own brand was one of the saddest fragrance news I’ve ever heard. The Gourmandises collection i must try soon .
I have high hopes for Margaux Le Paih GUERIN, I remember from the original Cafleurebon article she’s not only a perfumer but also design clothing? Wow such a talented lady, I’m impressed by her life journeys , I truly am.
Badar Parfums Estelle would be great
Thank you Ermano, Michelyn, Hiram Green, Badar Parfums

  • Once again all the Cafleurebon information made me wonder, and think for a while

    – Michelyn Camen

Where I should even start with this time ?!? Should I start with all the stark contrasts, the staggering amount of new releases, extraits or the in general good year for perfume. Or maybe how Moe Khalaf celebrated 10 years as the creative director and founder of Kajal, Masque Milano path after Alessandro Brun passing in 2024 , natural perfumes like Hiram Green, thrilling new brands like Tayshaba and Badar Parfums, rising star like Margaux Le Paih GUERIN, American Legends fragrance books , dive bar fragrance, edible gourmands like Rosy &Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royale , Estelle and Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection, Äikan pronounced “I can” and meaning in Arabic purified of all imperfections gold ?
I do prefer Badar Parfums Estelle

  • Let the Top 10 of 2024 games … begin
Round 1 : Michelyn Camen (New York) vs Ermano Picco (Milan) trends + fragrances
No one can deny what the names of Moe Khalaf and Alessandro Brun mean for the fragrance industry , both achievements are noteworthy. I hope Alessandro Brun is in a better place now
Chinese arts , natural perfumery , newcomers like Badar Parfums and Tayshaba, young and talented Margaux Le Paih Guérin, master perfumers like Frédéric Malle and Bertrand Duchaufour, fragrance books, hardworking perfume people like Hernando Courtright, mouthwatering gourmands like Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises line , Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royale and the best name for 2024 for Äikan purified of all imperfections gold.
My pick is 50ml of Badar Parfums Estelle
    Thank you, and fingers crossed

  • What a read
The amount of new releases is unheard of , I wonder if 2025 will pass 3k . Contrast of skin scents and bold statement making fragrances i actually like , different situations require different types of scents i believe.
Alessandro Brun passing left a void, at least his legacy lives on with the new Masque Milano releases.
Moe Khalaf I’d like to meet in person, “purified gold” still wondering where all the creative energy comes from.. Äikan and Lamar Noir because instant hits.
Meo Fusciuni, Hiram Green Tayshaba, Badar Parfums, Margaux Le Paih GUERIN, Pia Long, Hernando Courtright all did well in 2024 .
What I was not expecting is Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection, great surprise by the way and Frederick Malle leaving his own brand like … ?!?
    I’d prefer Badar Parfums Estelle
    Exciting giveaway, USA

I already look forward to all other best of the year lists. Michelyn Camen and other Cafleurebon contributors do have a taste for perfumes , and I enjoyed reading their articles , and of course watching Redolessence videos during the year.
Wow! What an impressive roundup of the year – tsunami of new fragrances, both bold and subtle .
It seems like not just Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco but all Cafleurebon contributors do have a lot of past memories with Masque Milano and Kajal Perfumes, the latter I know well but from Masque Milano I only know Russian Tea.
Not aware of Meo Fusciuni ,Hiram Green , Pia Long, DHS Perfumes, Miller, RS No.9 .
I like delectable and edible gourmands and I’ll sample Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royale and Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection.
Kajal Äikan radiates love and gold the bottle and the name.
If i happens to be the winner I’d like to experience Badar Parfums Estelle
Thank you very much Hiram Green and Badar Parfums, and special thanks to Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco for the hard work . Looking forward to Part 2 of best of the year list

  • I’ll start by saying I’m eager to try all the fragrances mentioned in the article, as I haven’t had the chance yet. Can you believe 2,000 fragrances were released this year? I’d guess at least half are clones. I recognize many of the houses and names, having been quite active in the fragrance world this year! The Matiere Extraits look fantastic, and Margaux Le Paix Guerin is undoubtedly a rising star with an unparalleled gourmand touch. The passing of Alessandro Brun was a significant loss for many in the community. These are just a few highlights, but I agree that less is more. I’d prefer to see houses focus on releasing two or three fragrances and truly promoting and explaining their creation, rather than flooding the market with collections that risk being overlooked. If I win, I’d love Hiram Green Philtre—it would be incredible to experience the artistry behind it. Greetings from NY 😉

There’s a saying that good ideas start with brainstorming, but great ideas start with coffee ☕
I have a feeling for all those years Michelyn Camen and Cafleurebon team had hundreds of such brainstorming moments, and thousands cups of coffee in between , I wonder who came up with the idea of best of the year lists?
My takeaway about Part 1 with Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco is the sense of tradition and heritage that Moe Khalaf , Alessandro Brun , Meo Fusciuni and Hiram Green infuses into their brands , and overall pursuit of perfection and originality .
Badar Parfums, Tayshaba share similar values and I like how successful Margaux Le Paih GUERIN is despite her young age
In light of Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco lists and reviews I have no doubts Badar Parfums Estelle is awesome , i’ll be happy to win a bottle
    Many thanks, EU

  • It’s almost January , perfect time for bold statement making fragrances flankers or not.
As a Master Barber myself I’d like to say Moe Khalaf beard is always on point, i noticed again the nice cut on the picture with the black suit.
After Alessandro Brun passing and the void he left i was worried about what would happen with Masque Milano and Milano Fragranze, thankfully thanks to Ermano Picco I know his philosophy lives .
Kajal is a great brand, big fan of Homme I and II ,the latest editions , III , IV Äikan and Lamar Noir I must try soon .
Because of Tayshaba Sudanese heritage and Badar Parfums mixed French and Arabic DNA both brands are on my radar .
How exactly a dive bar fragrance smells? Pavlova, Macaron Bourbon and St Honore from Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur are also on my radar now.
Optimism, renewal, purified gold.. Moe Khalaf can’t and won’t stop thinking outside of the box.
My choice is Badar Parfums Estelle
    Thanks to all involved

  • The idea of speaking with all contributors to share their best of the year adds another layer of enjoyment to the whole ballgame
I can emphasize to Cafleurebon founder words , the year was challenging to me also ,but was a good one for perfumery.
Good to know Masque Milano move forward inspired by Alessandro Brun legacy.
What Moe Khalaf did for the past 10 years is nothing short of remarkable, winning awards for Kajal IV, releasing sophisticated fragrances, long lasting, unique and with beautiful presentations.
Tayshaba and Badar Parfums are two new brands that impressed Ermano greatly, the young perfumer Margaux Le Paih GUERIN did the same thing with her work.
Thank you Hernando Courtright for the dedication and hard work. Already tried but wasn’t able to find samples of Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur Gourmandises collection.
We know you can Moe , we know.
My preference would be Badar Parfums Estelle
Thank you Michelyn Camen, Ermano Picco for your 2024 observations, and the generosity

  • All in all the two adepts Michelyn Camen and Ermano Picco are found of the new fragrances they discovered in 2024 , the trends , new and master perfumers, newbie and renowned brands. Extraits , too much releases are also important for the overall impression
Out of all the best choices , they made i have smelled only one Kajal Äikan, the best 24′ name
I’m curious about Frédéric Malle future after leaving his old , come on it’s Frédéric Malle after all and I presume he’ll start a new niche brand.
I’m also curious about Parfums de Nikolai Gourmandises collection, Rosy & Earnest Vanilla Rhum Royale and Badar Parfums Estelle made by the talented and charming Margaux Le Paih GUERIN
Badar Parfums Estelle I’d enjoy the most
    Much obliged
