BDK Parfums is back with a new feel-good hit for the summer. BDK Parfums Impadia opens with a mirage of rose with a leading dance of fruity citrus sweetness from pear and mandarin with bergamot giving a slight soft woody undertone. The pear feels summery and sugary like candied pixie dust, with a powdery velvety texture that foreshadows the rose that’s slowly blooming. You feel the soft, spiced citruses of Impadia’s rose here, its scent luring you in, with soft honeyed tones dancing out. As the pear ripens, it is complemented by a soft, plump orange blossom haze that rolls in like the warmth of summer. This adds a delicate musky charm, allowing the sweetness of the opening to recede slightly letting the florals take hold.

Some facets feel green like stems are spouting up giving guidance to how the rose will bloom as bright citruses conjure a sunny feel. It’s a nice counterpoint to the sweetness of the opening, a little green and freshness giving a delightful contrast to the fruity the sweetness keeping Impadia balanced. The fruity pear slowly transforms into a litchi sweetness giving Impadia a summery feel, it’s joined by flourishes of blackcurrant giving the rose here a playful feel. Impadia reminds me of those summer pop songs, happy familiar melodies sung a little differently that get lodged in your head and keep you smiling. Its happy mood lingers around you all day.

The rose blossoms into soft honeyed raspberry petaled elegance, it’s lightly accented by a  lightly spiced cinnamon sparkle feeling light sunrays. More subtle greener notes sketch leaves at the edges as vanilla weaves its way into petals giving them a silky smooth feel. The sweetness is dialed back here letting the rose take centre stage it’s feels soft like clean smooth skin, light pink tones reminiscent of the bottles own pink and yellow tones. Orange blossom works more as an atmosphere here, bringing a gentle density that hangs around the rose like warm air on a summers day while the rose feels light and fresh flowing like silk.

Impadia’s dry down has a soft gourmand twist as the woody vanilla becomes tangy and rich with the orange blossom and sandalwood evoking a delicate rose financier pastry. The sandalwood adds a subtle nuttiness that enhances this cake like facet, while a soft, powdery clean patchouli introduces a light woody element to Impadia.

Imagine rose petals on a delicate cake with the scent of rose in the air on a warm summers day in the Tuileries in Paris. Akigalawood gives playful winks of spice but feels restrained here letting sandalwood get soft and hazy creating the feeling of you’re skin, only better.  It’s got buttery facets that melt into the vanilla rose petals feeling luxurious on your skin and in the air, letting its vanilla pastry gourmand side shine on my skin.

Perfumer Jordi Fernández sketches just enough for it’s to feel like your catching these soft beautiful scents in the air as you stroll through Paris. The bottle design perfectly embodies the scent, that soft pink gradient feeling translucent and light. Impadia has a very nonchalant breeziness, it’s easy and fun like a pop song that brings joy on a summer’s day. A delicious airy vanilla rose for the summer.
