On Thursday April 16, 2020 Editor Sebastian Jara spoke live on Instagram with perfumer Pierre Negrin in Amouage’s first” IN COVERSATION With”, a new Instagram Live Series, that featured Pierre Negrin.  He is the noted perfumer from Firmenich who composed 13 Amouage fragrances to date. One of the most popular of all the Amouage creations is Interlude (Man)–  composed by M. Negrin in 2012. During Sebastian’s public  conversation, Pierre Negrin alluded to a new fragrance that was to be released. He told Sebastian privately, it was a new riff on Interlude Man— Amouage Interlude Black Iris Man. It was sold on the Amouage.com site and literally was out of stock within days.

Amouage Interlude Black Iris Man presents an odour profile that is less aromatic than the original Interlude. I reduced the rosemary note and removed the oregano note. In the original Interlude there is a sweet citrus tone that I have rebalanced so as to not take away from the opulence of the iris. This makes Interlude Black Iris feel both richer and creamier, and in turn its evolution becomes fuller and more profound overtime. The buttery creaminess of the iris note lasts throughout the evolution of the fragrance. – Perfumer Pierre Negrin

Interlude Black Iris felt appropriate as a first creation at Amouage as it reflects the period of creative interlude of Amouage. I think that it takes time to understand the archives of a house like Amouage and be able to define a new direction that brings something new and interesting, while still true to the soul of the brand. That’s why Interlude Black Iris is not a totally new narrative.”-Renaud Salmon, Chief Experience Officer

Always was thinking : what if the dill
Note will be more toned down , more soft , would me amazing for me to try this perfume , new york , usa .

Sebastian’s review of Interlude Black Iris Man by Amouage seems to spotlight not only the essence of the fragrance but also its nooks and crannies. I love fragrances such as that which he described. Those that contain multiple notes en route to delivering multiple layers of satisfaction are my favorites. That said, I do want to buy a bottle of the new installment in the Amouage line – if I can find one. Meanwhile, the 5 ml decant would, frankly, make my day and week and month, should I win. As always, thank you for the opportunity to win.

  • Ahmed Hamoda says:

I love Amouage house . I Currently own five fragrances. Can’t wait to try this one since the original interlude is one of my favorite Amouage .

  • Love the amouage line. This fragrance specifically sounds right up my alley! Top notes sound really interesting from the way he explained it. I’ve never smelled the original either. Big fan of smokey fragrances and the fresh take sounds interesting.

    I’m in MI, USA.

  • Edward Julious says:

I think Sebastian did a great Job giving his honest opinion about the fragrance and the note break down.I really want to get a hold of it myself !!

  • MPfragrance says:

I like how Sebastian points out that unlike many other flankers this one stays true to the original. I probably will buy this one but have to sample it first.

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s review and liked how he explained that unlike so many flankers nowadays this one doesn’t disregard the original creation. I’ve only very briefly smelled Interlude Man but not actually been able to wear it. However the addition of iris/orris certainly makes it more attractive to me. My favorite Amouage as of now is Reflection Man which I believe I’d purchase before this but I’d need to sample this one first as I have sampled and worn Reflection Man. Thanks to Cafleurebon and Sebastian for generously providing the decant and for the draw.

  • First, I like that two of my favorite notes are included violet leaves and orris. Secondly Sebastian description is wonderful and makes me want it almost immediately. I do plan on buying it after I sample it. Hopefully it was beastly performance like the others in the line

  • wildevoodoo says:

I’m honestly glad it doesn’t smell like Fahrenheit or Dior Homme Intense. Both of those are amazing fragrances, of course, but the world doesn’t need another one of either of them! Unless it were to bring back the original formulation of Fahrenheit, of course. The smoky notes, powder from the orris, the greenish oregano tones, the leathery/woody drydown all sound fabulous. When this fragrance becomes widely available I will obtain a sample or decant before I buy! Or of course, if I win and enjoy the fragrance as much as Sebastian did, then I will buy a bottle. I am in the US! 🙂

  • wildevoodoo says:

Oops, I forgot to add my favorite Amouage fragrances! Portrayal Woman, Portrayal Man, Sunshine, Lyric Woman, Ubar are all my loves. I would love to try more from the men’s line, especially Interlude Black Iris of course!

  • When Sebastian reviews a fragrance I can almost smell it! There are so few reviewers who are able to capture this experience for me! I am a woman but his review makes me want a bottle for myself. If I am lucky enough to win the decant, I may share a taste with my husband.

  • drewdow01 says:

I enjoyed that even though he was gifted a bottle I feel like his comments are really his opinion about it and not swayed. Interlude is my favorite amouage but was never able to get a bottle I am so excited to get my nose on Black Iris! I’d like to get a bottle one day it’s just hard to find in Utah.

  • Shamrock1313 says:

As a fan of Amouage and Sebastian’s reviews it was such an informative video. I can’t wait to try Black Iris upon release. Such a unique combination of notes and Amouage has the best performance in the game.

  • NiceVULady says:

I always appreciate Sebastian’s reviews for their clarity and information. I like to sample before I commit to a full bottle, so this draw is perfect. Thank you for the review and the draw. I’m in the USA.

  • Jake Dauod says:

To start, I love how Sebastian makes his reviews honest because it lets me get a good grasp of what the fragrance will be without smelling it. I like that he explains the differences between Interlude Black Iris and the original Interlude. Also, I like that the fragrance itself doesn’t stray in the direction of some Dior fragrances that feature similar notes. Although I would love to purchase a bottle, I definitely need to get a decant first and thoroughly test the fragrance before I go after this one (only because the price tag is high). Warm regards from Illinois, USA.

  • Excellent review from Sebastian as always. I was very curious about this scent when it was announced. Very interested series of notes, and I’m glad it doesn’t smell like Dior Homme Intense. I prefer scents that are different, and I’m a big fan of iris/orris notes. I’d be very interested to check this one out. Keep up the great work everyone and stay safe.

  • Mark-Anthony Wright says:

From watching Sebastian’s fragrance reviews, his honesty always comes out very sincere and detailed. My favorite Amouage fragrances are Reflection Man, Interlude Man and Jubilation XXV.

  • Dubaiscents says:

Thanks for the wonderful review Sebastian! I can’t wait to smell this one (my bottle is making its way to me as we speak so, no need to enter me in the draw). Interlude Man is one of my top 10 favorite scents so I’m a little nervous to see where Amouage is taking this. It is good to hear that it is not totally different from the original. Overall, I think we can expect a lot of new things from Amouage with their new CEO and Creative Director and this is our first hint of that change. It is exciting yet sort of anxiety inducing to see a brand I love so much make such a change. Will it ever be the same without Christopher Chong? Maybe not the same but, change is a good thing too!

  • James L. Supkis says:

I am new to fragrance wardrobe collections. I do like to smell good and exotic. I always learn positive things watching this channel.

  • Fragramancer says:

Curious as to how the iris would be. I own interlude man so I would need to check it out first
    Very good honest review

  • sweetwilly88 says:

Love Sebastian’s reviews! It’s really not fair because he makes everything sound like I want it. I’m very intrigued by the rosemary or possibly oregano note he talks about. If I don’t win this decant I’m going to have to find somewhere I can smell it. I need to try it! It defiantly sounds like something I’d buy.

  • Bryant Worley says:

I always ♥ listening to Sebastian’s reviews, and this was no different. He really broke down the fragrance, and made it known that its a ‘standalone’ fragrance (although it doesn’t steer far from the original DNA). I can’t afford $340 fragrances but, after Sebastian’s review, I definitely have to get a sample. I live in Waldorf, MD, USA.

  • Sebastian’s reviews, background knowledge and interpretation are what brings me to his reviews repeatedly, and this one is no exception. The notes seemed to hint a big move away from the original Interlude Man, and it is reassuring to know it is a directional change – and this is also exciting to experience for oneself! I like to sample before purchase, and would love to win this sample! TX, USA

  • I like that Sebastian clarified that it still smells like the original, but in a less green and herbal way.

This version seems more appealing to me, with oregano paired down and rosemary giving the slight herbal twist. The oregano note really turned me off in the original.

I wouldn’t blind buy such an expensive fragrance but it does seem promising, so I’m looking forward to snagging a sample when it’s available.

  • I like that in Sebastian’s review he said the bergamot is really present and kicks the fragrance off, but that it’s still the original Interlude at heart and is opulent, smokey and has just gone slightly in a different direction. I would love to buy this when it’s available!

  • Amanda32828 says:

I would love to smell this beautiful scent. Currently I don’t own any Amouage yet but this one without a doubt could be the beginning of something wonderful. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this giveaway. Commenting from Orlando, Fl USA.

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Always been intrigued with trying an offering from Amouage but have not gotten my nose on anything as of yet. He dispelled a lot of the presuppositions and associations people had about how it would smell given the notes. Enjoyed how he characterized it as an Interlude remix. The notes sound very interesting…would def like to try this. Appreciate the opportunity for the giveaway! -Virginia, USA

  • I like the way Sebastian summed up the fragrance at the end as a brightened dark smokey fragrance, and how excited he was about it. I’m not sure if I would buy it, because it is quite expensive. But it sounds lovely.

  • Plamen Kirov says:

I enjoy Sebastian’s videos a lot, he’s always informative, honest and knowledgeable. In this particular video I liked how he addressed some of the comparisons other people have been making between this new Interlude Black Iris Man and other fragrances (such as Dior Homme and Fahrenheit) and how he doesn’t get that comparison. I like his breakdown, not too technical or boring, just right. I’m a fan of Reflection and Lyric Man from Amouage and I look forward to trying this new creation. Thanks

  • Love watching Sebastian’s video reviews – short, but full of good information, so you know what to expect. Oud and smokiness in the base, with the freshness of bergamot, rose and violet on top and the heart notes of frankincense, musk, amber, etc. – Interlude Black Iris Man seems to be a wonderful fragrance since I especially love oud (agarwood).

Haven’t tried Amouage fragrances, yet, so it will be fun to win this decant draw. Thanks for the review and the draw. Writing from USA.

  • Robert Muller says:

Thank you! I am really anticipating being able to acquire this fragrance. I am attracted to incense notes, primarily & am intrigued by this formulation.

  • Good to know that this does not smell like Fahrenheit or Dior Homme Intense, cause if I want those scents I would just get those two. I love dark, amber and smokey fragrances and the way Sebastian describes it makes this quite intriguing. I don’t blind buy fragrances anymore so will need to sample this first. Regards from the USA.

I enjoyed Sebastian’s comparison to the original Interlude. I am new to Amouage fragrances (so I don’t have a favorite), but I liked how Sebastian pointed out what the nuances of this new version would be. I felt like he gave insight into the creative process by which it was created. I am in the US, in NC. I don’t know if I will buy it because Amouage fragrances tend to be a little out of my price range, but I would love to smell (and wear) the decant.

  • doveskylark says:

The opening notes with the bergamot and the rosemary leading to the orris not sound very intriguing. I like Sebastian’s breakdown of notes and description of the journey of the fragrance. Yes, I would buy it for a man’s iris fragrance.
    I live in the USA.

    Hi,
Sebastian’s review on his channel really intrigued me and got me really curious about this latest offering from Amouage.
I’ve always loved how strong Amouage fragrances tend to be, and based on the scent profile of Interlude Black Iris, I would love a sample!

    Sincerely,
    Shy

What I enjoyed about the video was Sebastian’s generosity and opportunity to win a 5 ml decant. I’m a big fan of Amouage and I would definitely love to wear Interlude Black Iris Man. Yes, I do plan on purchasing this fragrance in the near future. El Paso TX USA

  • Sampled Interlude Man a few weeks ago and it was nice. I liked it. This one sounds good Like the original but with Iris. Enjoyed the review by Sebastian. Thanks, Ca

  • Michael Prince says:

Sebastian, great review of Amouage Interlude Black Iris Man. I like the fact of it keeping the original Interlude Man DNA but incorporates fresher notes of violet leaf and bergamot in the top and adds a large dose of Orris to add some additional freshness and powdery qualities to the fragrance. It sounds really good and I would be interested in sampling it and possibly buying it. I am from the USA.

  • I enjoyed that rosemary takes over for oregano which I don’t enjoy too much and which made me not really like the original Interlude. I’d love to sample this to determine if it would be bottle worthy and Sebastian’s review move me towards the ayes. Thank you Sebastian for the review and the opportunity you’ve given us to sample it. I’m in USA and registered to LFSG on Youtube

  • I really appreciate Sebastian honest review of this smokey fragrance. I am very interested. He really knows notes and how to describe a fragrance. My favorite Amouage is Reflection Man. Thanks for the draw. I live in CA, USA.
