Xerjoff Via Cavour 1 Review (Chris Maurice) + Gourmand with a Twist Giveaway

Xerjoff Via Cavour 1 via the brand

Xerjoff Via Cavour 1 is named for the street in Torino where Xerjoff’s flagship boutique is located and is a gourmand with a twist added by the Moroccan rose. The quince note is intoxicating and adds its unique floral-fruity aroma which is enhanced by the white peach accord. Dark chocolate and (perceived) patchouli add depth to the caramel and vanilla at the drydown, which balances the sweetness. I also perceive a hint of oud, which is not listed in the notes given by the brand. -Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

Listed Notes: Quince, White Peach, Rose Absolute from Morocco, Dark Chocolate, Caramel, and Vanilla from Madagascar.

I remember Eau D’Erica specifically raving about this fragrance quite a bit and I’m glad is now available worldwide. I have Symphonium myself but I can already tell this is quite different from it. I like the earthy touch mentioned (probably due to the patchouli) and of course the dark chocolate accord. I’ve been dying to try this one. The red berries and peach will probably mix well with the chocolate adding a juicy chocolatey touch. I follow Cafleurebon on IG. Cheers from USA.

Xerjoff is one of my top fragrance houses. I love the note of quince, so this sounds amazing. I follow Cafleurebon on Instagram, and am located in the USA.

  • I loved the breakdown of opening. I saw Eau De Erica talking about this one on Fragmentals channel just this morning. Glad to hear it’s chocolatey without being a gourmand. Sounds like it would be a versatile Xerjoff I could wear all year but would really shine this fall and winter. I follow @cafleurbonofficial on IG.

  • Excelent review for what it looks like an excellent perfume, sweet chocolaty oud sounds amazing, love chocolate. i do follow you n IG (gabrielchacon__) and would love to win the givway, fan of th brand

I am a fan of Xerjoff and the description of Via Cavour is up my alley. Chocolate, rose, caramel. I’m curious how the quince note works but it sounds fantastic. I follow Cafleurebon on Instagram and I am located in USA.

  • Ryan Apostolo says:

This sounds like a very interesting fragrance. I’ve yet to experience a xerjoff fragrance, but Steven did a great job describing Via Cavour.

  • Steven’s review was very timely. I just became familiar with this fragrance this morning. The notes made my mouth water. I’m intrigued by the Patchouli being “perceived.” I could see myself donning this interesting blend at a reception abs being devoured.

  • FragranceIsMe says:

My journey with Xerjoff fragrances started a few years back when I first got my nose on “More Than Words”. Since then my wife and I have added another 10 Xerjoff creations to our collection. We always take something of value from Steven’s videos…especially, when it comes to Xerjoff fragrances.
The notes in Via Cavour have caught our attention. Looking forward to getting my nose on this one.

Absolutely love Xerjoff and the craftsmanship and seeing the notes has me very interested in getting my nose on it!

  • Brandon Peralta says:

Absolutely love Xerjoff and love every video done by Steven! He has me very interested in trying this for myself! This comment has been redone because my previous did not include my location (USA) and that I follow on instagram !

  • Renato Carotti says:

Steven really brings out his genuine joy in reviewing great fragrances, anything from Xerjoff is no exception here!! This rich chocolate goodness sounds so interesting, it’s almost edible through the screen! I can’t wait to try this one out!!

  • French Desk says:

I appreciated Steven’s description of this fragrance-strikes me as decadent. It would probably complete my Xerjoff collection… until the next great release! I do follow @cafleurebonofficial on Instagram.

  • Hello! I do follow @cafleurebonofficial on instagram, and I did love this review video. It was the perfect breakdown for this fragrance! I’ve been interested in blind buying this and adding it to my collection of other xerjoff fragrances. So I think this would be perfect being in my situation of “blind buying” but the descriptions you gave of this only makes me crave it more! Thanks for what you do for the fragrance community!

  • Redoessence had me at roses and chocolate. What a decadent sounding combination. I enjoyed how he described each of the notes.

  • Matt Freelie says:

The review was excellent as it showcased what the fragrance was about and gave me an idea about its personality and where it stands in the Xerjoff line. Additionally, while I haven’t yet gotten the chance to get my nose on many Xerjoff fragrances as I’m relatively new to the hobby, Xerjoff has always stood out as a grail house within the fragrance industry and even among niche houses.

  • This sounds really beautiful. I’m excited about the quince and peach notes that Michelyn talked about. Quince is such a unique fruit and I thoroughly I enjoy quince jams (especially with brie or a mild goat cheese), but I don’t think I have ever experienced it in a fragrance. Steven also praised the sweet and tart facets of the quince, but he also heralded the salty caramel and chocolate that emerges in the dry down. The fact he referred to it as “jaw dropping” also caught my attention as Steven doesn’t typically just throw those descriptors around. I would love to make this my first Xerjoff fragrance as they are a brand that I do not yet have in my collection. I follow Cafleurebon on Instagram (user: thearronq). Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • Xerjoff Via Cavour 1 Sounds quite delightful from Steve’s review. I’m a fan of sweet notes especially in combination with some dark notes. • Michael Day says:

These reviews are always to the point, no extra chitchat. Makes you want to go out and obtain the fragrance

  • Marsiesmoon says:

The review from Redolessence provided such a detailed description of the fragrance. I am intrigued by the patchouli note as it is described as not smelling like soil !

    I follow Cafleurbon on IG.

  • I absolutely love Xerjoff! I feel like this 50ml bottle is too small and that they should make 100ml bottle in the future. Xerjoff does not disappoint and can do no wrong. I have my eyes on this and La Captiale. From USA

  • donovanreich says:

Enjoyed Steven’s take on YouTube, especially that this is a well balanced gourmand – not too sweet or cloying. The patchouli is what got me and that peach in the opening. Look forward to trying out this one. I am a follower of the cafleurbonofficial Instagram page. I reside in Arizona, USA. Thanks!

  • Funny that I’m wearing Noir De Noir today so of course this would be a love for me. It doesn’t sound redundant and even if it was I wouldn’t care lol. Sign me up.

Steven kicks off the video by saying that this fragrance is Fruity, Sweet & Sensual. Sold! haha. Dark chocolate mixed with patchouli & caramel sounds amazing. Love the presentation as well. This would be my 1st bottle of Xerjoff in my humble collection.

  • Ghislaine Lesmes says:

Steven’s review of Xerjoff’s Via Cavour I made me run to order a sample. I loved the breakdown of the opening notes. The quince sounds interesting though I don’t believe I have ever owned a fragrance with quince. I like sweet scent yet not foodie gourmand, so I was ecstatic to hear it’s sweet & chocolatey without being a full gourmand. I blind bought my first Xerjoff (Bouquet Ideale) 2 months ago and fell in love with the scent & the house. Looking forward to adding more to my scent collection.

I love how Steven describes everything too to bottom. Presentation to performance. Michyln makes this sounds chocolaty and delightful. I’d love to win and live in Indiana.

  • A peach fragrance with quince? I’m intrigued. The Dark chocolate and caramel notes sound delicious. Steven describes it as “sweet and sensual.” The drydown seems salty. I follow on IG, thanks for the fantastic review and draw. MI USA

  • I follow everyone and i would love a bottle of this. I have been on the hunt for it for maybe 6 months or so

  • Thanks for the lovely opportunity. Chocolate, Patchouli and Caramel, there cant be a better combination than this, Steven just like always did a wonderful job at explaining all the nuances of this fragrance. USA

  • Glad they finally started selling this one outside of Italy as I’ve always wanted to get my nose on it. Steven mentioned the quince giving it a sourness along with the sweetness and the dry down being salty and yet he says it’s not full on gourmand. A fragrance description that makes me salivate. NYC USA I also follow @Cafleurebonofficial on instagram.

  • Following @lill_daffodill on IG
This one is seems simply beautiful. Quince and peach in the opening, and the drydown is a great combination of rose and chocolate. Would love to own one and try it on myself.

  • Gourmand with a twist got my attention straight away. I like that the patchouli is “perceived” so may not be too heavy of a note in the profile. I like that Steve perceives the patchouli as sweet. LOve that it has longevity (not uncommon with this brand). Steve makes this sound like a solid release. Thanks for the chance. USA.

  • I am most intrigued by the quince note on it and the Oud note which although isnt mentioned but I preceived by many. I have previously tried Xerjoff Dolce amalfi with similar Quince note and since then I’v been a fan of it. Good job Steven

  • Looks like a very well blended gourmand. My favorite aspect is the oud which seems to be smooth yet rich. Xerjoff like always is known for the quality of their ingredients, really would love to try it.

  • Great video by Steven …this fragrance sounds like a delicious mix of chocolate, caramel with fruity quince. I would love to add this Fragrance to my collection. Thank you for the opportunity.

  • chocoshelo says:

Such an amazing chocolate, Rose, and oud fragrance, that does a great job portraying a clean oud and not the animalic oud. I’ve been dying to try this one and after Steven’s review I want to even more.

  • David Furman says:

This sounds like a delicious delight. Caramel, vanilla, and an oudy and earthy undertone. Where do I sign up, oh here. LOL. I dont own any xerjoff but I know its first class from the creations themselves all the way through the presentation. The sensual sweetness is what intrigues me and makes me want his. Would love to win, from Jacksonville, NC.

  • I picked up a decant of it recently. It’s got a unique smell to it for sure. Nothing I can say it smells like at all. It’s got a sour berry smell from that quince mix with like a mild chocolate touch to it. Kind of like a purée in a chocolate tart feel to it with almost a faint light oud and musky accord. Unique for sure and surely bottle worthy. I hope to be the lucky one. @hollymollygrail

  • Steven is a “master” reviewer for sure ! He explains everything in such great detail. He is honest and sincere always.
I am really enjoying chocolate and oud based scents and want to explore more of them, especially a brilliant house such as Xerjoff.

Steven’s video offered a comprehensive review of Via Cavour 1. I enjoyed how he provided all details about this fragrance from the presentation to the notes and ingredients, including the level of quality associated with each characteristic. The quince with earthy patchouli while caramel in drydown is a treat for me. I do own Xerjoff fragrances but not this one.
I highly value the opinions of both Steven and Michelyn. Going to have to add this one to my collection….maybe through this giveaway. Thanks.

  • Fragrance collector says:

I enjoyed learning from Steven how this is not just any chocolate fragrance. Michelyn’s intro was nice in that it explains that other facets of the perfume especially about oud. I’d love to try Cavour as I have enjoyed chocolate in fragrances like Kemi Aurum. Thanks for the generous draw.

  • Swetrosysillage says:

Review mentions that its a nice chocolate sweet scent yet with caramel saltiness and red berrries which I love being a gourmand love. Projection and longevity seems good as well. Hoping to win.

  • Lophoflora336 says:

What I like about review of Xerjoff Via Cavour 1 is how he described the opening and how well the patchouli has been done where it doesnt have its usual earthy character. I also love the longevity of it. I most definitely would love to try this. (@sassyydora)

  • Without being a full gourmand, this sounds delicious. Chocolate, sweet, sour, caramel. Steven sure seems to like it! In maryland.

  • A few years ago, my exploration of Xerjoff fragrances began with “40 Knots,” sparking my fascination with their creations. Since then, I’ve delved deeper into the enchanting world of Xerjoff, expanding my collection along the way. Steven’s insightful videos always provide valuable insights, particularly when it comes to esteemed brands like Xerjoff.
The intriguing notes of Dark chocolate, patchouli-red berries, and the interplay between sour and salty in Via Cavour have captured my interest. Knowing Xerjoff’s reputation for excellence, I eagerly anticipate experiencing this fragrance firsthand. I’m already a Redolessence subscriber and following you on Instagram as ealiyahia. USA

  • This sounds AH-MAZING! It’s a gourmand but with those added fruit notes of quince and peach but then add a rose note – OMG, it really sounds so good! That drydown blend sounds good enough to eat! I am swooning just imagining what this must smell like. It is absolutely on my Wish List!

  • Jeremy Upshaw says:

Something about Xerjoff’s sultry gourmand offerings, with their inherent, citrus, fruity roots – just tickles the senses with anticipation when they wrap these two worlds together – Quince and white peach, sound like an amazing, sunny spring day – while the rosy, ambery, chocolate accords, seem like the perfect transition into a beautiful cool spring night. Thank you Steven for your expertise and insight once again! Oklahoma, USA

  • Fruit and floral and sweet gourmand notes, oh my! I’ve never encountered a quince note in a fragrance before and I would be interested to see how it complements the peach. The ingredient list sounds scrumptious. I’ve tried. few Xerjoffs and they are exceptionally well composed.

I believe I tried a small sample of this from a friend and enjoyed it. Thanks for the generous giveaway from the U.S. and I do follow @cafleurebonofficial

  • I like how Via Cavour 1 is not just a great composition , but it’s made to honor the street where Sergio Momo opened his flagship boutique , and show his love for the city of Turin .
Clearly fragrance with a character, that has a lot of layers, fresh, floral , sweet , spicy and woody. I love such non-linear artistic perfumes , something to be expected of Xerjoff of course.

“The quince note is intoxicating and adds its unique …. ”

I felt the same way when I smelled thr tobacco in Naxos for the first time . Also enjoyed the way Steven filled us in about how Via Cavour I bursts with a tart , red berry ,quincy and peachy vibrancy, and the dark chocolate drydown . So uplifting , so vibrant … happy fragrance with a beautiful bottle.
Naxos and La Capitale are my favorite Xerjoff beauties , and I’d love to compare them with Via Cavour I , all 3 are close enough to gourmand sweet , but not quite.

  • Scent bear says:

Chocolate fragrances are a opportunity to really show a perfumers mastery and skill. Steve ALWAYS covers all the bases in his reviews and that is what I love about him the most. Also it has chocolate, vanilla with caramel yet its not a full blown gourmand which intrigues me.

Just saw Steven’s vid yesterday on this and I am very much inetrested in it.Very glad to hear that patchouli is not earthy type and there is no over sweetness. Quince note is an added bonus for sure. Haven’t tried it yet, but it’s top of the list on my Xerjoffs to sample. USA

  • Wow, this scent sounds phenomenal. I love chocolates based frags and he notes in Via Cavour especially peach and moroccon rose have caught our attention Steven’s description of the perfume is also great. Thank you and greetings from Germany.

Such a nice description of the fragrance, steven keeps it classy as usual. I’ve never owned a chocolate fragrance so fingers crossed for this one. The saltiness and caramel in the dry down is what I love the most as it balances out the sweetness.

  • The way steven breaks down fragrances is extraordinary and has played a vital role in me purchasing many fragrances. Xerjoff is one of my favorite houses. • Michelyn pointed out that there are a number of interesting ideas in Cavour 1, especially the quince and rose interaction. She also perceived some unlisted oud, which is important, since I’m guessing some darker notes ground the whole gourmand composition. Steven described Cavour 1 as “sweet and sensual”, but the citrusy-sour element is more compelling to me, especially paired with a patchouli that avoids too much earthiness; I hope it’s more “mysterious” than it is “delicious.”

I’m in the USA and I follow @Cafleurebonofficial.

  • I don’t think there’s too many high-quality chocolate, caramel and fruity aromas out there, the review highlighted these very facts and I thought it was very well done, can’t wait to try this out

What I like about Steven’s review is that he compared the Via Cavour with by Aurum, because I have it and I love it, so I am pretty sure I would like Via Cavour.

  • Steven explained that is not a sweet and cloying gourmand rather a very balanced one which can even be used throughout the year.
I liked the comparisons to other fragrances he mentioned and this one sounds phenomenal. I hope I can get my nose on it, especially caramel with patchouli is a perfect combination in my opinion.

  • I’m aware Via Cavour I is praised by so many gourmand lovers online , I see Michelyn and Steven are big fans too . I also really like Kemi Aurum – the fragrance Steven compared Via Cavour I with, i guess I have to finally order a sample.
Through Via Cavour I people worldwide could imagine Italy , and its rich culture , historical sightseeings , but also its seductive and sensual nature.
The hint of oud and patchouli are balancing the sweetness according to Michelyn, still Steven’s take on Via Cavour I made me think of of being in Torino (Turin) , making Spiced Upside-down Quince and Ginger Cake, with Caramel Custard, and just hanging out in the city , Pastry Chef can’t stay still 😉
The best Casamorati, the best Xerjoff , and one of the best gourmands ever is called … Italica. Smells very, and I mean very similar to Toffee Almond Cake (traditional recipe) , famous Italian Cake.
Appreciate Michael introduction and letting us know where the name of Via Cavour I came from, the review, and the giveaway campaign

  • I always love a gourmand with a dark chocolate note. I think the Moroccan rose would be a good twist and interesting complimentary note. Xerjoff always has the quality base notes especially for these cooler weather fragrances. I follow @cefleurbonofficial! Cheers from New York

  • Oh My God! Via Cavour I is on my wishlist for more than a year now. Quince, red berries, peach, dark chocolate, rose, caramel, pachouli…what else do I need? I am a huge gourmand lover and ever since I looked at the notes, I knew I have to smell this. Xerjoff is my favorite house and will always be held at high regards for their contributions to the art of perfumery. I am a long time Redolessence subscriber and I know Steven’s reviews are always spot on. His review of Via Cavour I is exactly what I imagined this fragrance to be! I am a long time follower of Cafleurebon on instagram as well (my IG is suvadip.mandal). Thank you so much to Twisted Lilly, Cafleurebon and Redolessence for organizing this giveaway! Would love to be considered in the giveaway. Stay blessed everyone! Love from USA!

Hi! I really enjoy fragrance and just getting into Niche fragrances. I have a birthday coming up and this would be perfect.

  • Michael Prince says:

I loved Steven’s YouTube video review of Xerjoff Via Cavour 1 with an enticing chocolate, patchouli, and rose combo with a hint of citrusy quince along with sweet gourmand touches of Caramel and Vanilla without being overly gourmand. Steven is my all time favorite reviewer and influencer. He is so well spoken and is very knowledgeable about everything fragrance. I follow @Cafleurebonofficial my instagram name is @michaelprincefragrances I am from Ohio, USA.

  • Enjoyed the breakdown of the notes in the review. Sounds like a great fragrance, and hope I can get my nose on it sometime soon.
As a gourmand lover, I am really excited about the combination of chocolate, vanilla, and oud, although I havent smelled it yet, I think I already agree to Steven that this is definitely one of the best unisex gourmand out there.
    Cheers from USA

  • This fragrance might be the one I am looking for!
I really love the note on this one, especially rose and patchouli which adds depth to caramel.
Thanks to Michelyn and Steven! Also to Twisted lily!
Have a fragrant day to all!

Ive been wanting a great chocolate fragrance and this sounds like it. I am intrigued by the patchouli note as well which would be interesting to see how it smells like in conjunction with chocolates notes on this. I follow @cafleurbonofficial on IG

Really interested in the Quince and dark chocolate! Would love to have this in my Collection! I appreciate Stevens reviews, probably more than others. Every time he reviews a fragrance that’s in my wheelhouse im tempted to blind buy. Im super interested to smell a chocolate fragrance with oud. USA

Steven is simply one of the best fragrance journalists in the entire industry! His reviews are always honest, full with details and very precise. Rose, chocolate, peach, caramel, what a decadent sounding combination. I enjoyed how he described each of the notes. I am following on instagram – homestylequeenn

The intoxicating quince note with dark chocolate and white peach accord, I dont think so it can be better than this.Love how you both describe the experience using Via Cavour 1.
    Hope to get lucky.

  • I adore Xerjoff and recently added Dama Bianca to my collection. I would love to try Via Cavour 1 because of how it’s described as more of a gourmand scent. Great all year round, but I imagine this being a good date night fragrance or for the colder months! New York, USA. Redolessence subscriber and following cafleurebonofficial on Instagram. Thank you for the giveaway!

I have recently become enamored with gourmand-leaning fragrances. I especially love when chocolate notes are featured. I think the peach and quince notes must surely add a sweetness–and possibly a bit of sourness–to Via Cavour 1.

The fragrance is already caught in the hype on social media, Via Cavour I is not only is inspired by Torino , one of the most beautiful cities in Italy , and the place where Xerjoff boutique is , but also has its own elaborate gourmand and rose tales to tell.
Ideally balanced , multifaceted sweet, slightly floral warm spicy fragrance , and it’s made by Xerjoff? Not to mention Steven genuinely loves the way it smells Wow … Via Cavour I is special , there’s patchouli and balance, I believe I’d feel in good spirits wearing it.
Michelyn told us once , it’s all about craftsmanship for Sergio Momo, everything in Via Cavour I is top notch
My favorite Xerjoff is Lira , Instagram follower
Thank you Michelyn, Steven, Twisted Lilly

  • Sergio Momo, like almost all Italians i met truly love his country , cherish Italian culture, and is proud of his heritage, I love it. Michelyn introduction was helpful to me, to sort of feel better the spirit of Via Cavour I .
When I think of it , I like everything about the fragrance, the fruits, the caramel , chocolate and the oud. No questions asked , provocative, flirtatious perfumery at best.
I really like the two , or three way reviews , when often I can detect some differences in the opinions of the contributors.
Michelyn -> more emphasis on the Moroccan rose , calling Via Cavour I “floral-fruity” , and dark chocolate, no berries at all .
Steven -> red berries , sour earthy and salty touches , chocolate not as dark ,
The best Xerjoff fragrances in my opinion are Cruz del Sur II , followed by Golden Dallah , and then comes my old love Lira.
Cafleurebon i follow on both Facebook and Instagram
Michelyn and Steven almost made me do it 😉 , I’ll treat myself with Salted Caramel Chocolate Martini now
Cheers and thank you the opportunity

  • Learning about Via Cavour I was such a delight , Steven and Michelyn are such a great duo ! The different facets set up by the perfumer are impressive , it’s not just a linear gourmand fragrance like i was expecting, it’s way more and it’s also inspired by the brand boutique street in Torino.
There are some earthy undertones , oud , quince – posh fragrance at its best , I need such perfumes in my collection.
I’d wear Via Cavour I going out to a date ,i’ll look for a sample , my expectations are beyond high
Out of all Xerjoff lines, my favorites are Casamorati Lira , Opera , Italica and Amabile. IG follower
    Exciting giveaway, USA

  • I have a soft spot for Italy ,marketing geniuses like Sergio Momo , Xerjoff and also as historian myself I’m not surprised I can learn something new every day:

“Xerjoff Via Cavour 1 is named for the street in Torino where Xerjoff’s flagship boutique is located”

I was under the impression Via Cavour I was named by Camillo Paolo Filippo Giulio Benso, most commonly known as Count of Cavour or just Cavour, one of the main figures in Italian Risorgimento aka Italian Unification, one of the “Father’s of the Nation” . There are streets in Napoli, Florence, Rome named after him , and I guess in Torino too.
The rose in Via Cavour I is in the background on my skin, it is there for personally I wouldn’t call the fragrance floral. Patchouli I also get , and lots of red berries from the first spray until the drydown. The first comparison Steven mentioned, with Noir De Noir i find strange, i find nothing in common between the two , but on the other hand there are undoubtedly a lot of similarities between Via Cavour I and Aurum by Kemi , both composed by Christian Carbonnel or if you prefer Chris Maurice , both sweet fruity ambers , with chocolate , red fruits and rose.
Like Michelyn I can also perceive oud ,and also musk too. Definitely not as sweet as Italica still full time delicious gourmand in my opinion. Performance is also really good.
I love a lot of Xerjoff fragrances, so it’s really hard for me to pick my top 3 , depending on my mood:
    1. Mamluk
    2. Alexandria II / Empiryan
    3. Tony Iommi Monkey Special
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

Thanks for the nice review Steven!

Really interesting to read about his fragrance. The combination of bright citrus with all the dark chocolatey patchouli notes, with the rose absolute really making the transition happen. The use of quince to add acidity, really does lift this fragrance.

It seems like Michelyn has also written similarly.

I would love to sample this.
