Welton London Talisman Collection Welton London L'Amor Absolu, Lucky Charm and Narcotic Elixir

Welton London L’Amor Absolu, Lucky Charm and Narcotic Elixir

A talisman is typically represented as a precious object which brings one good luck and strength. For Welton London’s newest Talisman Collection (2022) brand founders John-Paul Welton and Aline Perlade sought out perfumers with the ability to compose liquid “amulets” in a unique olfactory dialogue. The collection premiers three Extrait De Parfums – L’Amour Absolu (Christian Provenzano), Lucky Charm (Julie Pluchet), Narcotic Elixir (Vincent Ricord) made at the Welton Laboratory in Grasse, France. I was fortunate enough to experience these deep and velvety creations at Esxence in Milan earlier this year where they received Cafleurebon Best of Show.

Welton London L’Amour Absolu (Christian Provenzano) L’Amour Absolu is an incredibly rich blend, which captures the feeling of love in a range of emotions. This perfume is truly decadent and full-bodied opening with notes of cinnamon, plum and coffee. These intertwine with a heart consisting of Kashmir Fusion, Oak Fusion, and Rum. The base of Sandalwood, Musk, Tonka Bean, Amber, and Vanilla adds an addictive and sweet finish. Gourmand lovers could fall head over heels with L’Amor Absolu, this is a fiery, boozy, slightly bitter scent which reveals a soft heart. As some of you will know, Christian Provenzano is an expert in creating amber perfumes with an eastern twist and L’Amour Absolu is a wonderful demonstration of his exquisite skills. Notes: Cinnamon, Plum, Coffee, Kashmir Fusion, Oak Fusion, Rum, Sandalwood, Musk, Tonka Bean, Amber, Vanilla.

Welton London Lucky Charm (Julie Pluchet) is a fragrance inspired by joy. A cocooning mix of hypnotic notes, Julie Pluchet takes us on an olfactive trip to dreamland mingling fresh accords, spices, and woods in a mystical and bedazzling way. Elemi, Cardamom, and  Olibanum capture one in a vibrant sensuality whilst Shisha Tobacco, Nutmeg and Kashmir Fusion provide a cocktail which whisks us away from daily cares and routine and off into wonderland. The base is a soft landing of Cedarwood, Cistus Labdanum and Sandalwood. This is a sojourn away from the mundane and is a scent which surprised and enraptured me. Notes: Elemi, Cardamom, Olibanum, Shisha Tobacco, Nutmeg, Kashmir Fusion, Cedarwood, Cistus Labdanum, Sandalwood.

Welton London Narcotic Elixir (Vincent Ricord) brings across passion and desire in a seductive but classy fragrance. This amber / leather perfume is directed front and centre by a rich Davana note opening one up to its boozy and dark fruity tonality. This is offset by Pink Pepper and Cardamom, which ignite the senses with fire and brimstone. The heart of Rose, Saffron and Leather beautifully compliment the opening and we slink down into the depth of the scent in a haze of immersive richness. Patchouli, Kashmir Fusion and Musk round off the experience and one is left with a super smooth trail which captures attention. Perfumer Vincent Ricord has really achieved the brief here by creating an extremely specific sensorial scene with a devilish result. Notes: Pink Pepper, Davana, Cardamom, Rose, Saffron, Leather, Patchouli, Kashmir Fusion, Musk.

The exclusive Talisman range is a luxury collection of Extrait De Parfums with a concentration ranging from 20-25%. The simple and elegant transparent black and gold presentation belies the complexity and voluptuousness of the scents the flacons hold and will launch next month.

  • How beautiful the reviews were and the unique and fascinating notes of these fragrances interest me. Lucky Charm appeals to me the most, I’m sure it must be a very special and stunning fragrance. I live in Poland, EU.

  • These all sound amazing Karl, and the one that I think would suit me best is Welton London Narcotic Elixir for the rose, cardamom and saffron. I live in Berlin Germany

  • The one that appeals to me the most is the L’Amor Absolu is it’s described as something gourmand lovers would like. US

  • These perfumes look like they are ideally suited to the upcoming winter season. I think Narcotic Elixir may appeal to me the most due to notes like saffron and musk. Thanks for the draw. I am in US.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

Fascinating notes of all these fragrances! I am curious abbot all of them.
Narcotic Elixir is first choice for me because brings across passion and desire in a seductive but classy fragrance with davana, rose and saffron. I am from Bucharest Romania Europe

A that I have heard of but I have not tried anything by as of yet. I am in love with the notes especially Coffee, Cinnamon and Plum. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

A beautiful description by Karl I am intrigued by Narcotic Elixir because I am a sucker for Rose and Patchouli. A house that I need to explore further. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Nice review Karl! it is a great idea launching a collection called Talisman. Thinking about perfumes like an amulet, like a way to protect us against evil aiding the wearer is great. 3 deep an velvety scents in the form of Extrait De Parfums (20-25% oil concentration)!! : a gourmand, an amber-leather and a spice-resin woods one make a great trio. I love the boozy bitter touch of L’Amor Absolu with its sweet final touch, the davana opening and the richness of Narcotic Elixir is great, but the “hypnotics” notes of Lucky Charm make this one the best of the trio: Elemi, Cardamom, and Olibanum is a wonderful way to travel to , as you say, wonderland. I live in Spain, EU.

  • Thank you for reviewing this scrumptious set! I was interested by your description of a fiery and boozy scent for L’Amor Absolu; by your description of Lucky Charm as a wonderland; and by your description of Davana in Narcotic Elixir. Of the three, I think Lucky Charm speaks to me most. Thank you for the review, writing from Ireland.

  • Love, Joy, Passion and Desire- these amulet perfumes sound gorgeous. I have always loved amber perfumes and would like to explore more eastern style perfumes. I love the amulet concept! In US

  • Karl!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Fabulous descriptions!!! They are rich and inviting! I’m drawn to all three scents, especially as the weather is just starting to turn cool. Thank you for discovering Welton London! I’m excited to get to know the house! ❤️ USA

  • All three sound very intriguing. I think Narcotic Elixir may be the most interesting of the trio. NV, USA.

  • All three sound perfect for fall weather and with recieving “Best of Show” at Esxences is high praise. Would love to samples all. Truthfully could not decide between the 3. Coffe , rum, tobacco and leather are all notes I love. Would see how these scents could be described as velvety. Fingers crossed they have a US distributer. I reside in the US and would love to sample these.

  • “Lucky Charm” for a lucky girl…

Nevertheless all three seem to whisk one away from the mundane.

    I live in Portugal

  • The W elton London L’Amor Absolu sounds simply stunning. Maybe it is the winter approaching but the notes sing to me. I’d love to experience any of these scents as they all sound beautiful. In maryland.

  • Thank you Karl for the succinct review! Each of these sounds like they are quite powerful fragrances! L’Amor Absolu seems to be the most appealing to me. I have not heard of this house before, so thank you for bringing it to my attention.
    Thanks again from Canada!

  • Great review Karl! These look lovely; very luxe compositions with 20-25% perfume concentrations and the bottle is stunning. I had to look up Kashmir Fusion since it’s present in all three fragrances and I’ve never heard of it before (blend of musk and amber notes). If I had to choose one it would be Narcotic Elixir because of the davana note. I’m rediscovering my cooler weather fragrances and a spicy, boozy amber/leather scent would be perfect. I’m in MD, USA.

  • John McDonald says:

    What an interesting new house.
I think the narcotic elixir appeals to me most, but they all sound interesting.
    Thanks for the giveaways.

  • Oh these all sound divine!! I think Welton London Narcotic Elixir is the one I am most interested in initially… the cardamon and pink pepper and rose combination and what will Davana do? The other two sound truly intriguing as well. The first with the cinnamon and wood fusions and the 2nd with the Shisha Tobacco and cardamon . So curious to know!
    I’m in California, USA.

  • I love Karl’s descriptions of these deep, heady, “voluptuous” scents, they all sound divine! Especially Lucky Charm as I love amber perfumes. I’m in MN, USA.

  • Welton London L’Amor Absolu is my fave, as a plum note addict! Thank you for writing about these beauties, love finding new houses. i live in Croatia

  • I love the idea of perfume as a talisman: something precious to guard against ill and give one power to face down the day…even if your day is mundane and you’re mostly facing down small children and dirty dishes. Maybe you especially need a talisman if you’re facing down the mundane! Anyway, while these perfumes all sound lovely (and empowering!) I think I would be especially excited to try Lucky Charm, with its notes of tobacco and labdanum, which I especially love. Thank you! I’m in the US.

  • Great review by Karl. I have to admit that this is the first time that I read about Welton London, but these 3 fragrances look fantastic! The one that appealed me the most is Lamour Absolu, because of the decadence of it. I love the plum the rum and how everything blends together and make it a super interesting fragrance. Would love to smell the 3.

What interests me about Karl’s reviews of Welton London L’Amor Absolu, Lucky Charm and Narcotic Elixir is learning about a new brand and line from Welton London’s newest Talisman Collection (2022) brand founders John-Paul Welton and Aline Perlade sought out perfumers with the ability to compose liquid “amulets” at Esxence 2022 in Milan earlier this year where they received Cafleurebon Best of Show. All these fragrances L’Amor Absolu, Lucky Charm and Narcotic Elixir sound incredible. My top favorite would be L’Amor Absolute since I am a gourmand lover with the Rum, Cinnamon, Plum, Coffee, and Vanilla combo sounds truly divine. I am from the USA.

  • Thanks for the fun review Karl.

This scents that this brand has put out are quite interesting in that they are all deep and heavy scents that can easily linger for a whole day (which I guess is the point of an amulet fragrance).

I’m quite intrigued by the use of Kashmir Fusion accord in all these scents.

In particular, the Shisha note brings back a lot of memories. I would love to smell Lucky Charm.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Nom de Guerre says:

From Karl’s writeup, all three sound quite opulent and majestic – my pick would be L’Amor Absolu. Greetings from Riga, Latvia.

  • First off, I love the sleek design and color of the bottles. All 3 of these sound great, based on the notes. Lucky Charm based on the notes, would appeal to me most, but L’Amor Absolu also sounds grat with coffee and plum notes! Thanks for the draw! US.

  • These “liquid amulets” sound like a wonderful package. The cinnamon and boozy elements in L’Amor Absolu jump out—a boozy, spiced amber gourmand is tailor made for fall and winter. Lucky Charm sounds complex and varied, and while I recognize many of the notes, I can’t quite imagine what this one smells like. It’s the one of these three that intrigues me the most. Finally, Narcotic Elixir offers a variant on rose and leather amber, spicing and sweetening it with fruity Davana, and that archetype is a reliable one. At Extrait De Parfum strength, I’d assume all three fragrances have a strong impact and last through a full day of wear. Thanks for the revies, Karl.

    I’m in the midwest, USA.

  • Shibuichi2000 says:

wow, best in show, that says something. obviously, that makes me curious enough to try all of them out, but if I were to pick a first, that would be Narcotic Elixir . or should I say “the devilish result”? 🙂
    I am living in EU.

  • From Karl’s review I have the feeling that all of Talisman Collection are heavenly concentrate juices that awakens our deepest emotions and mysterious aspects of ourselves… Description of L’ amor Absolu is mouthwatering and I guess this appeal to me the most without rejecting the rest. I live in Greece, EU.

  • I’m so intrigued by this perfume house. I’ve never heard of them before. Each of these scents have such great blends that include spices in every one. All 3 would be perfect for the colder weather that is approaching. I love that they are made with up to 25% concentrations. They must have really terrific longevity.
    I live in the USA.

  • When I read about fragrances I feel as though I am reading poetry or a romance novel. It feels so seductive and passionate, I absolutely love it! That’s how a great review should make you feel and this one does just that. I am a gourmand lover so obviously L’Amor Absolu makes my brain tingle. Thanks you!

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’m very interested in trying all three fragrances. I’m especially interested in trying “Lucky Charm” because I like its list of notes. I’m also very interested in trying “L’Amor Absolu” because it seems like a good gourmand fragrance and I’m interested to see what Provenzano’s ambers are like. I live in the U.S.A.

  • wandering_nose says:

I love Karl’s reviews! They are clear and concise but at the same time full of personality and poetic feel. Thank you Karl! The Talisman Collection sounds simply amazing and I am finding it hard to choose between two out of the three… I feel I would be the happiest with L’Amor Absolu as the concoction feels like a gourmand heaven! I am based in the EU

  • Gorgeous review Karl! What interests me about Karl’s reviews of Welton London L’Amor Absolu, Lucky Charm and Narcotic Elixir is the idea of a fragrance inspired by joy combining fresh vibrancy with deep spices woods and warmth. I think this contrast between the comforting warmth of the base and lifting and light fresh notes sounds perfectly lovely and more importantly uplifting to the spirit!

Of the 3 fragrances in the Talisman collection the one that appeals to me the most is definitely Narcotic Elixir. I live in continental the US.
