The Best Rose Perfumes for Valentine’s Day 2022 + A Dozen Roses Draw

Best Rose Perfumes for Valentine's day 2022

Roses have been used for perfumery for thousands of years and is the flower most associated with romance and seduction. Cleopatra famously carpeted her boudoir with rose petals while entertaining Marc Antony, so he would always think of the Egyptian Queen anytime, anywhere he smelled a rose. Our fragrant world is scented with roses…they grow and are cultivated across the globe: cabbage roses, musk roses, Rose de Mai, Centiflora, Damask roses, roses from Bulgaria, Turkey, Morocco and in our backyards.

There is a rose fragrance for everyone…vintage, gourmand, photorealistic, soliflore, aromatic, fruity, modern, sophisticated, jammy, chypre, ambery, attar, powdery, green, fresh, laced with oud or incense, paired with patchouli and downright dirty. Video Journalist Steven Gavrielatos curated a dozen rose perfumes for Valentine’s Day 2022 (there are many, many more he loves so it was VERY difficult) that were closest to his heart. –Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief

What are the Best rose Perfumes for Valentine's Day 2022

The Best Rose Perfumes for Valentine’s Day 2022 photo by Steven

Parfums de Marly Delina Exclusif – Quentin Bisch – 2018: Quentin told Michelyn “that the idea for Delina in the Exclusif concentration was to be richer and more of a liqueur de rose like a Mille et Une Nuit rose with loukoum, litchi and amber.”

Initio Parfums Atomic Rose – Givaudan –2019: From the Carnal collection, an explosion of roses, Bulgarian and Damask brightened by bergamot and sweetened by vanilla.

Etat Libre d’Orange Spice Must FlowMathilde Bijaoui – 2019: Spicy, smoky with incense, and resinous, The Spice Must Flow was inspired by both the famous line from the Frank Herbert book Dune and the ancient Silk and Spice Route.  An opulent Turkish rose, laden with cardamom and ginger. Mystical.

Amouage Lyric Man – Daniel Visentin – 2008: A fresh take on rose, citrusy, quite green with a hint of incense. Complex and multi-faceted.

Le Jardin Retrouvé Rose Trocadéro (Yuri Gutsatz, 1976 /adapted by Maxence Moutte for its 2016 re-release): Graceful, elegant rose with black currant and musk which makes you feel as if you were surrounded by a thousand roses blooming in a summer garden.

Milano Fragranze Brera – Violaine Collas – 2021: Romantic, spiced just right with saffron, This is a velvety, heady rose made for lovers.

Le Labo Rose 31 – Daphne Bugey – 2006: A dark spicy take on rose with cumin.

Kajal Lamar – Mark Buxton – 2020: A rich fruity full out rose, dipped in gold amber, with hints of spices (coriander and cardamom), a touch of toffee and honey. Steven says it one of the best fragrances, rose or otherwise he has ever smelled.

Tom Ford Noir de Noir – Harry Fremont & Jacques Cavallier – 2007: A sensual rose paired with cacao sprinkled patchouli.

Les Parfums de Rosine Bulle de Rose – Serge de Oliveira – 2021:  A soapy photo-realistic rose.

Bvlgari Garanat – Jacques Cavallier – 2016:  Garanat is a take on rose and incense that was inspired by the garnet gemstone- it is smooth and spiritual.

Montale Rose Night – Pierre Montale – 2014: An earthy rose paired with its perfect partner —patchouli.

For a Baker’s Dozen, one of Steven’s favorite rose/oud perfumes: Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle The Night (Dominique Ropion) 2014

  • I am most curious about Kajal. I know this house is a permanent on this blog, but I never got the chance to try any from them.
Thank you and good luck to everyone!

  • Good evening,

Thank you very much for your wonderful content.

I’m happy to say I learned something new from you article introduction… I’d never heard of a cabbage rose before so I’m now learning more about it.

Also, I always enjoy Stephen‘s video contact and I never miss a new installment.

He certainly made Lamar from Kaja sound very interesting.

Even so, it’s probably too sweet for me. So, if I win, I’d choose Lyric Man by Amouage.

    Finally, my Instagram is @anti0grav.

    Thank you again.

  • I enjoyed Stephen’s enthusiasm, and Michelyn’s tour of the many facets of rose. I would love to try the Kajal if I win.

  • Jacob Smith says:

Loved Steven’s video for covering all the different styles of rose fragrances out there! And Michelyn’s introduction really hammered that point home with more specifics!

I’m in Birmingham, AL and I’ve got to get my nose on Initio’s Atomic Rose!

  • Michelyn & Steven!!! ❤️❤️❤️ What a fantastic idea for the season of Valentine’s! ❤️ I love how Michelyn connects the rose to a historic romance & also provides important technical details for each scent (i.e. how Quentin told Michelyn that the concentration for Exclusif was to be richer and more of a liqueur de rose like a Mille et Une Nuit rose with loukoumi, litchi and amber). Steven always does such great videos! I really enjoy how he breaks down the notes & how different each rose can be in the 12 fragrances, providing such a variety for us! What amazing timing! I’ve been waiting to purchase a bottle of Kajal Lamar (as soon as Perfumology gets it back in stock)! Perhaps luck will allow me to gift a bottle to my best friend? Love this fragrance!
If I were a lucky winner, I would be so thankful for the chance to own: Kajal Lamar, Delina Exclusif, or Rose Trocadero. ❤️❤️❤️ USA

  • Andrew DiPaola says:

    Loved this video Steven!
I’m very pleased by the smell of rose.
Atomic Rose is the one that grasps my taste the most. Appreciate the opportunity.

  • ThatMulattoDude says:

Enjoyed Michelyn’s brief descriptions of each scent which Steven expounded upon with his lengthier reviews. Kajal is a brand I’ve been intrigued by and I’m hoping to sample some of their offerings soon. I prefer rose in a masculine fragrance in an understated way…i.e. YSL Ultime and Zaharoff Signature Rose. If I were to win, I would choose Lamar. Appreciate the opportunity of this giveaway! Many blessings from Virginia, USA!

  • I enjoyed the amazing details and the quality of Steven’s video on the best rose perfumes for Valentine’s Day 2022, I enjoyed the fascinating photos in Michelyn’s introduction, I live in Poland, EU. I would like to win État Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow. Kajal LAMAR is one of my favorites from Steven’s dozen.

  • Marc Guimarães says:

Well, I’d love to try Amouage fragrance.
It is one that I like❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
    Thank you,
    Marc Guimarães

  • Michelyn reminds us of the power of fragrance over memories through the tale of Cleopatra and Anthony. Steven’s list includes both relatively transparent rose compositions like Bvlgari Garanat and darker rose compositions like Ford Noir de Noir. He also mentions he has had some fragrances for years but others are recent releases. My choice is Parfums de Marly Delina Exclusif. USA.

  • I enjoyed Michelyn introduction and Steven’s review of his rose based fragrances. I liked the fact that Steven highlighted different types of roses combination whether modern, powdery, green, gourmand, etc.
if I win, I would like Kajal Lamar.
    Greetings from Maryland, US.

  • Hello there,
Steven never ceases to amaze me on this knowledge and memory about every single fragrance. His ability to compare and contrast the different types of notes in each rose perfume, which helps viewers figure out which scent would be most appealing to them. I admire Michelyns verbiage in describing all the ways a rose can be portrayed in a fragrance.
I live in Ohio, USA and I would love to win Delina Exclusif.
    My Instagram is s0fiyka.

    Merci for the opportunity.

  • I enjoyed Mychelins introduction because I didn´t know that Cleopatra did that to Marc Anthony and the list of rose based fragrances is just on point.
I have always loved rose fragrances and from Stevens list my favorite is Amouage Lyric Man, but I haven´t tried everything from the list.
Steven is always very pleasant to hear and his description of fragrances is just flawless.
I would love to win Atomic Rose by Initio.
    I live in the U.S.

  • As Michelyn nicely lists there are many types of roses, all with their own twist and flavor. I’ve always loved drinking rose sirup juice and eating rose preserves. Rose was always an amazing flower that I loved smelling as well as eating. My husband dreams of having his own huge rose bushes and big fragrant garden. I hope we’ll make this dream of his come true eventually. On the other side rose based fragrances are not very numerous in my collection. I rarely find rose based perfume that I like enough to buy a full bottle. Stevens list is amazing because it covers many different combinations and styles of rose based fragrances, from spicy to fresh and clean and even those that seem desert like and chocolaty. I have always wanted to add Lyric Man to my collection as well as Spice Must Flow. I adore ELDO as a brand and Spice Must Flow was always one of my favorites (not only because I adore Dune novels). So I’d definitely love to win Spice Must Flow. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • Artus Ricumstrict says:

I would like to get Intio Atomic Rose I have Amouage Lyric Man which is an amazing fragrance

  • Hello, guys

What I liked on Steven’s video is that he included some of non common brands that I didn’t know, that is good because now I can investigate about those brands like Kajal and know more of their fragrances.
What I liked about Michelyn’s introduction is the fact that Cleopatra took roses baths, that is really interesting and I didn’t know it.
I would like to win Atomic Rose from Initio and I am from Miami, Florida.

    Regards,

  • Jaime Perez says:

Excellent video with quality content from Steven.
Love that he always keeps it fresh and finding gems he had stashed on his collection and mentioning new ones.
    I live in Puerto Rico
Proud owner of Lyric Man and really really enjoy it.
Time to cross fingers and hope I get to win Spice Must Flow from Etat Libre d’Orange. Been wanting it for quite some time.

Good luck to everyone and happy v-day.

  • Roses! Yes! My mother’s garden was filled with their gorgeous fragrance. Each scent was unique. Steve mentioned Noir de Noir, which I enjoy also. If lucky: Lamar, Spice Must Flow, Delina Exclusif, Atomic Rose. Thanks for another wonderful draw. Happy Valentines Day ❤️ Mich USA @mary_luvs_flwrs

  • I like the concept of 12 rose frags in theme of Valentines day I do have Lyric Man by Amouage which is an amazing fragrance however if selected as a winne, I would like to add Initio Atomic Rose to the collection. Steven has a great selection of Rose fragrances in addition Fredric Malle Portrait of a Lady and Bond#9 New York Oud I live in Michigan and my Instagram name is ricorenzel keep providing great content and Happy Valentine’s Day.

  • Such a wide variety of roses out there…and I love that both Michelyn and Steven emphasized the many ways in which this note can be used in perfumery. I don’t have a favorite from Steven’s list. My favorite rose fragrance in my collection is probably Czech & Speake No. 88. I’d love to be entered in the draws for Atomic Rose, Spice Must Flow, and Lamar, all of which Steven’s review made me curious about! I’m in Oklahoma, USA. Thanks, as always, for the draw!

  • I really love rose fragrances, when they are combined with Oud even more, but rose is really sexy and very opulent, great article congratulations everyone involved

  • I always enjoy Stephen’s content and absolutely loved his description of État Libre d’Orange spice must flow with the Beautiful and elegant natural smelling Turkish rose which is spicy with cardamom and ginger nuances. Superb! Would definitely like to win if I’m so lucky! Based in MN, USA

  • I always laugh inside when someone tells me they don’t like rose fragrances. With sooooo many variations and combinations there will always be a rose out there for you, you just haven’t found it yet. I love rose scents but I was surprised by some of Steven’s choices because I would not have immediately thought of them as rose. A wonderful mix of something for everyone here! Great video and wonderful summary introduction. Thanks for the wonderfully generous draw. I’d love to try Lamar because I haven’t had the chance to try any from this house yet and I love the bottles! US and I follow on IG at dubaiscents.

  • Rose is one of my favorite notes in fragrance and I am looking forward to wearing some of my favorites for Valentine’s Day. As Michelyn points out, there are various types of rose fragrances and I also believe there is a rose fragrance for everyone. The chosen rose fragrances for this article represent a wide range of fragrances featuring the note. Some of my favorites of those mentioned include PDM Delina Exclusif, Tom Ford Noir de Noir, and I love Amouage Lyric for Women (I have not yet tried Lyric Man). The other rose fragrances sound perfect for Valentine’s Day. I really appreciated Steven’s review of Les Parfums de Rosine Bulle de Rose, as the combination of soap and rose is intriguing. Also, I completely agree with him regarding Noir de Noir and the chocolately aspects of the fragrance. There really is a prominent “chocolate” note which goes so well with the rose. Thank you for the article and the giveaway! I would love to win Parfums de Marly Delina Exclusif (first choice) or Initio Atomic Rose. I am located in the USA.

  • Such a beautiful Post. Steven’s review and Michelyn’s Post so enjoyable about Rose Fragrances. So many wonderful picks. My choice would be PDM Delina Exclusif, Intito Parfums Atomic Rose, Le Jardin Retrouve. Thank you for the chance. USA

  • I love the diversity of the way the rose is done in Steven’s picks for best rose perfumes for Valentine’s Day. I also really enjoyed Michelyn’s introduction, particularly the history on roses and how Cleopatra used them. I live in the USA and I would like to win Kajal Lamar. So far I’ve tried and really enjoy Initio Atomic Rose. I follow the instagram and my page name is wrm_01.

  • I really liked that Steven really did put forward a large variety of rose scents, a rose scent for everyone. His descriptions as always were great as well. And in Michelyn’s intro I enjoyed how she listed so many different types of rose perfumes and what rose is often paired with, as well as different types of roses themselves. I havent tried any of the fragrances from Steven’s list and don’t really own any rose centric perfumes though I do have perfumes with rose in them such as Montale Sensual Instinct which i enjoy. Thanks for the generous draw as always, from CT USA. If I was to win I’d be happy with most any of them but I’d select in order of preference:
    1. Lamar
    2. Atomic Rose
    3. Delina Exclusif
    4. Spice Must Flow
    5. Rose Trocadero

Following @cafleurebonofficial on ig from @goldenish19.

  • Always love the insight Steven provides on fragrances. Most of these I’ve never heard of but definitely sound appealing after watching the video. Enjoyed the intro provided by Michelyn. The additional detail provided makes me want to try another rose fragrance since I don’t have any. I’d be interested in trying Kajal as this sounds like a scent that appeals to my chemistry. I’m in Orlando, FL.

  • Perfume_Madness says:

Michael did great and Steven is great as always! I’m most interested in État Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow. It sounds amazing.

  • To be honest I wanted to see if Steven would talk about any masculine rose fragrances. He mentioned Amouage Epic Man, but I can’t remember how it smelled, its been awhile. The articles mentions all the rose scents there are, I had no idea. As far as the give away, if would be interested in Kajal LAMAR.

  • What’s not to love about watching Steven absolutely CRUSH reviews? He’s such a master at his craft and is one of my absolute favorite content creators. I love that Michelyn said “There is a rose fragrance for everyone…” because she is absolutely right. When I started my fragrance journey I never would have envisioned myself agreeing with this statement but after exploring the note I have come to agree wholeheartedly. Kajal’s Lamar is a huge like for me and I powered through the decant that I had of it. Same with Milano Fragranze’s Brera. If I were to be chosen I would love to be able to gift my wife Delina Exclusif by Parfums de Marly as it is such a beautiful bottle and I know she would treasure it as well as the gorgeous juice inside. Thanks, as always, for the opportunity and cheers from Illinois!

  • Most interested in noir tom ford. Can’t go wrong with chocolate and roses for valentines day, would be a great addition for a different type of smell for my collection

  • Such a beautiful selection of rose based fragrances,Steven’s 12 different style roses enchanted my imagination,my first choice is Mark Buxton’s Kajal Lamar , followed by Spice Must Flow and Rose Trocadero. Thanks for this review and the draw, from Romania with love!

  • It is so easy to enjoy the smell of rose but so difficult to tame it so that other notes can shine through. Hence I have found that in most fragrances containing rose, the rose eclipses other elements. Steven’s review was so enjoyable, his enthusiasm is infectious. I also loved the anecdote about Cleopatra, such a master seductress! I’ve been curious about trying Lamar for some time now, it’s difficult to imagine which direction it will take with so many mouthwatering listed notes. Thanks for the draw! Greetings from Greece.

  • I’m still tipping my toes into this amazing perfume world and rose is one of those challenging notes to pull off as a man. I really enjoyed how Stephen made all this perfumes sound, yet if I am lucky enough to win I would love to get the Kajal Lamar.

  • supermike02 says:

Great content for the upcoming Valentine’s Day! I would like to win Initio Parfums Atomic Roses. Live in Los Angeles..

  • Spicy, smoky with incense, and resinous, The Spice Must Flow was inspired by both the famous line from the Frank Herbert book Dune and the ancient Silk and Spice Route. An opulent Turkish rose, laden with cardamom and ginger. Mystical. I love rose in perfumery just a beautiful seductive and mysterious note. Great choices by Steven and love Steven’s enthusiasm and passion for fragrances. If I am lucky to win I would love to win Etat libre d’orange spice must flow. My instagram name is amnaaziz5296@gmail.com. Thanks a million from the United Kingdom

  • Cleopatra famously carpeted her boudoir with rose petals while entertaining Marc Antony, so he would always think of the Egyptian Queen anytime, anywhere he smelled a rose. Our fragrant world is scented with roses…they grow and are cultivated across the globe: cabbage roses, musk roses, Rose de Mai, Centiflora, Damask roses, roses from Bulgaria, Turkey, Morocco and in our backyards. Interested by Rose in perfumery and just one of my favourite notes in perfumery. If I am successful I would love to win Etat libre d’orange spice must flow because of the notes in particular. Steven is always describes each fragrance with passion and love. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

I feel in the middle of summer reading this review surrounded by roses of all colors. It’s hard to choose from all the roses but I stop at Kajal LAMAR which I want to win.

  • bjorktaiwan says:

I always love Steve’s videos and follow his YouTube channel for years — loved the 12 picks for valentine’s day and Noir de Noir is one I’ve worn for years. Always wanted to try Kajal Lamar but need to get my nose on it! Love that ÇaFleurBon is prevalent on many fragrance channels I watch!! I live in Taiwan so I’m REALLY hoping to win the beautiful Rose Trocadero! What a valentine’s treat that would be! Thanks!

  • As always, Steven’s list was amazing, insightful, full of surprises and with a wide array of different choices, loved the video and his enthusiasm which just shines through! Michelyn’s introduction was also great, setting the scene for the video!

I love Noir de Noir by Tom Ford, that would probably be my pick for valentine’s day!

As for my pick – I would like to win Kajal – Lamar, since i absolutely love the house and even more so, I love Mark Buxton, so that would be a perfect fragrance for me!

I live in Croatia, EU and I follow cafleurebon on instagram – my handle is @il.dolce.papi

  • Rose is a favorite of mine, so I enjoyed seeing the variety of rose fragrances that Steven presented (Noir de Noir is a personal favorite). I also enjoyed Michelyn’s list of the different types of roses in her introduction. Thanks for the giveaway, please send the bottle of Kajal Lamar to me in sunny Florida if everything comes up roses and I happen to win! My IG is @markieballa

  • I know only Lyric Man from Steven’s list, but I am very curious about Kajal Lamar and also Rose Trocadero. I never tried anything from them, but wouldn’t mind starting with either of these two rose based creations.
Thank you! I am in Romania, Europe.

  • The rose, queen of all flowers.
Today in perfumery it is often combined with spices and oud, so it is even more fascinating.
I would love to win KAJAL LAMAR and ETAT LIBRE D’ORANGER SPICE MUST FLOW, certainly from your description two splendid perfumes.
    Linda (EU)

  • Interesting choices. I liked about the video that he just spent the right amount on each scent – long enough for some opinion and getting some idea of the smell, but not overdoing it.

Would like to win: État Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow

    Living in Ge rmany, EU

  • Thanks for this great article, Michelyn and the great video, Steven! I am a huge fan of rose fragrances and I’m very excited about this draw! I agree with Michelyn that there’s a rose fragrance for everyone. I’ve been a subscriber of Steven for a long time now and with his huge collection, I’m impressed on how he was able to pick his favorites. I haven’t tried some of the scents he mentioned and I hope I get to win.

I’d love to win Spice Must Flow by Etat Libre d’orange, Initio Parfums Atomic Rose or Kajal Lamar.

Thanks for this opportunity. – CA, USA

  • What a great time of year to celebrate the rose! Where I live, there are already some roses starting to bloom. I enjoyed your description of Cleopatra harnessing the scent of rose to torment Antony, Michelyn. I’m sure many of us have done something similar with fragrances 😉

Steven, I so appreciated the care you took in curating the list of rose fragrances. They are all different and really highlight how versatile rose is! The character of each fragrance and your respect for them really shines through in your review.

To be honest, I could not chose between these fragrances- if I were to win, please surprise me! Writing from the EU.

  • There is a rose for everyone, Michelyn says, and it is so true, not just in perfumes but smelling the real flower: anyone is different from the other, but as an spanish song says :” I wanted to cut the most tender flower of the rosebush thinking that of love couldn’t prick me and while he pricked me , taught me one thing, that a rose is a rose”. So a rose is a rose and romance and seduction are always part of its history. Steven presents us a great list. I love the rose and chocolate and patchouli (one of the best partners with the rose) of Tom Ford Noir de Noir by Jacques Cavallier, who made 2 perfumes in the list with Bvlgari Garanat being the other. Brera is my last bought with rose in it and I love it. As Steven say the resinous side with chilly paper and saffron make Brera a beautiful spy and dry scent. If Steven has bought 8 or 9 times the bottle of Etat Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow must be a gem as the fruity romantic rose of Kajal Lamar. I live in Spain, EU. If I win, I’d choose État Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow OR Kajal Lamar.

  • bigscoundrel says:

I’m really interested in Lamar. Steve is very descriptive and I can almost smell the fragrances as he describes them. Rose has been in fragrances longer than I knew. I’m in NJ.

  • I truly love rose fragrances. I really enjoyed the variety that Steven and Michelyn presented on their list, and the descriptions were easy to connect with as usual. I’ve only smelled Tom Ford from this list, which I love, I’ve yet to experience any others. I would love to win Kajal Lamar. I live in Indiana USA.

  • Michelyn is right, there is a rose for everyone. I haven’t found the perfect rose for myself yet. Stephen has curated a great and diverse bunch here. I would love to win ANY of them. The list, order from seems most perfect for me to maybe not perfect, but definitely intriguing, I”d like to win:
Etat Libre D’Orange Spice Must Flow
    Kajal Lamar
    Parfums de Marly Delina
    Le Jardin Retrouve Rose Trocadero
    Initio Parfums Atomic Rose

Thanks for this! And Happy VD.
    I am in the US.

  • Great list by Steven it covers so many rose perfumes. I loved the history of cleopatra bathing in roses by Michelyn and the different type of rose perfumes. Nice summary
I own Delina exclusif and really want to get my nose on etat Libre d Orange the spice must flow and le Jardin Retrouve rose trocadero
    I live in the Eu
    Happy Valentine’s Day

  • If love were a baseball game, Michelyn leads by pitching a nice tale of Cleopatras and Marc Anthony’s romance. She’s goes a full 13 innings, pitching concise details of these heart-warming scents. Steven then steps up to bat and runs the bases on these romantic rose fragrances—sliding in for another “home-run” fragrance review.

Of the 13 fragrances featured, I own Rose 31, Noir de Noir, and Lyric Man. It’s hard to pick one as my favorite since they all have their place in our warm Texas climate.

Of the five fragrances for giveaway, the one that peaks my interest most is Initio Parfums Atomic Rose.

  • One perfume more beautiful than the other.
I choose Kajal. LAMAR means light, therefore beauty, charm and even love.
It is a perfume that makes you dream.
    HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY EVERYONE !!!!!

  • bennybennyta says:

Love rose based fragrance. I will be wearing La fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens on Valentine’s Day. I am from US, hopefully I can win the giveaway.

  • As always Steven gave a very thorough review of the different rose based fragrances. Michelyn gave an interesting historical introduction to the note. I would love to win Initio Parfums Atomic Rose. I’m in MD, USA. @blinkydog1999

  • Congrats for such a nice video, as usual, and great content by ÇaFleureBon. I was quite interested in the description of some fragrances that I don’t yet know, such as ELDO Spice Must Flow, Kajal Lamar and Rose Trocadero by Le Jardin Retrouve. I am a fan of roses in fragrances and the 3 of them seem like quite rich compositions, according to Steven’s and Michelyn’s descriptions. They truly got my attention. Such a visual description, thanks for that Steven 🙂 And I hadn’t heard much of Frederic Malle The Night, so thanks for the extra suggestion Michelyn! If I could chose one, I’d go for Spice Must Flow, followed by Lamar and Rose Trocadero. As for scents I already know, TF Noir de Noir is my favourite rose fragrance so far, with Montale Black Aoud being a close second.
    Kudos from Belgium! 🙂

  • I loved Steven’s list of rose fragrances. I adore Delina Exclusif and was so glad to see it made his list. And Le Labo Rose 31 is another favorite of mine. It’s so different from Delina Exclusif. It’s such a “dirty” rose fragrance that is so polarizing If I had to choose from the 5 that are available for this giveaway, it would definitely be Intito Parfums Atomic Rose. I’ve never tried it but enjoyed how Steven described it. Plus, I love several others from Initio that I only have small samples of. So I’d love to own a full both of an Initio perfume.

    I live in the USA.

I really liked Michelyn’s intro, which was very informative – who knew there was such a thing as cabbage rose? And Steven’s review was done quite well, with just enough enthusiasm/not over the top.

Unfortunately, I am only familiar Lyric Man on this list, but that will change now.

Of the five listed, I would like to win:

    1) Kajal Lamar
    2) Etat Libre d’Orange The Spice Must Flow
    3) Le Jardin Retrouve Rose Trocadero
    4) Initio Parfums Atomic Rose

I don’t have favorites from Steven’s list, except gor the one I’m familiar with (Lyric Man), but the ones not on my I’d like to try from his list are Le Labo Rose 31, Milano Fragrenze Brera, and Montale Rose Night.

I live in Waldorf, Maryland, USA.

  • What I enjoyed about Steve’s video is the fact that rose fragrances comes in so many variations. I’ve been wanting to try a rose scent for so long. Rose scents for men wasn’t always an option.Nowadays, that has changed. I think that you have to be a very confident man to carry such a fragrance.I’m that man.

  • What I enjoyed about Steve’s video is the fact there are not only so many variations of roses, but there are various ways and combinations of how the roses are used on fragrances.Rose fragrances for a man hasn’t always been an option. I believe that you have to be very confident in who you are to be able to carry that kind of scent. I want to try Lyric Man so bad. I’m really ready to try some rose scents now. Steve’s videos are not just about reviews, he also educates you on notes, the creators of these fragrances and their previous collaborations and the successes of any of their fragrances.

  • Thanks for this wonderful article Michelyn!

Valentine certainly is all about Roses. It is the one flower I recognise more than anything in perfumery. My mum and my sisters all love the smell of Rose and our house was always filled with their most beautiful perfumes.

I appreciate Steven gives me a list of fragrances that suit Valentine’s Day. There are so many fragrances out there that I sometimes do not know where to start, but Steven’t meticulously curated list brings my sample list down to a only a couple that I simply HAVE to try. I trust his experience and his nose as I’ve purchased many fragrances of his recommendations that I absolutely love and adore. Thank you Steven!

I love sharing fragrances with my partner and we both would love to win Kajal Lamar. We love Fruity fragrances and Lamar we would both enjoy wearing.

    Greetings from the UK!

  • Like many lists on Cafleurebon, this is great and timely. I am a Redolessence subscriber and enjoy Stephen’s passion for perfumes, and Michelyn’s olfactory journey of the many facets of rose. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried any of the reviewed perfumes, yet. I would love to try the Kajal Lamar were I to win this generous draw. Second choice would be Atomic Rose. I am in the USA.

I love themed compilations like this one – thank you Michelyn, Steven and the team! Rose is a perfumery note I only grew to appreciate over time, and it can still be challenging to me but then, I appreciate it even more for that :). Steven’s review was pure delight to listen to and watch. Substantial, concise and so appealing. I would love to try Brera, Atomic Rose and Rose 31 based on his recommendations. I own and adore Noir de Noir and was very happy to see it among Steven’s dozen. It is one of the fragrances that changed my way of perceiving perfume in general. Never received more compliments on any other scent than I did on NdN.
Should I win, my choice would be Kajal Lamar, it sounds beyond beautiful. Love the idea of a ripe, fruity sensual rose with a woody and spicy dry down.

Another awesome review. Thank you for continuing to bring us great content and awesome reviews. I have had the pleasure of smelling many of the fragrances being showcased in this review and I have to say that they are all very precious and perfect Valentine fragrances. From this group of fragrances, one of my favorites is from Initio Perfume Atomic Rose, I hope I can win this one. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the draw, commenting from Orlando, Fl. USA.

Michelyn’s introduction was great I need to read up on the cabbage rose mentioned, sounds really interesting. As always Steven had a great list many I want to try! He made Kajal Lamar sound so great and I definitely would love to own it very nice bottle as well. Im from Texas

  • Kajal Lamar sounds like a to-go fragrance to me. Rose, amber, and various spices make for an interesting combination. Also, if Steven says that this is one of the best perfumes he has tried, speaks volumes.
I am in Europe. Thank you.

  • Enjoyed this excellent video with quality content from Steven!
Always interesting to listen his opinion!
I like Delina, Delina Exclusif, liked descriptions of Atomic Rose and Lamar.
I would like to win Delina Exclusif, Atomic Rose, Kajal Lamar or Spuce must Flow ELDO.

  • I love rose centric fragrances and this is a great selection! Thanks to Steve for going into such great detail and thanks to Michelyn for an intro to the use of rose on fragrance, I am going with Steve and would love to win Kajal Lamar. MD, USA.

  • Great selection of rose perfumes by Steven. Delina Exclusif is one of my favorite of all times. Le Labo’s Rose 31 with cumin notes sound super interesting to me. Never heard about Rose Trocadéro by Le Jardin Retrouvé but after watching Steven’s video it goes to my ‘to try’ list, right next to Atomic Rose by Initio. Nevertheless, should I win, I’d chose Spice Must Flow by Etat Libre d’Orange. As Michelyn mentioned, it’s inspired by Dune by Frank Herbert and if is as mysterious and intriguing as the book, then it must be amazing. My instagram account is @agakawecka, I live in EU, Poland.

I used to have a hard time with rose but have come to adore it, especially when paired with darker, richer notes like one ones here. I’ll bet it was indeed a challenge to winnow down this list, and I appreciate how Steven notes the general longevity of these styles, if ever a flower was meant to take center stage it’s the grand rose.

I’m in the USA, thanks for the drawing, État Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow would be my selection.

  • Sandro Mateush says:

Great topic, guys! Noir de Noir – one of my all time favorite fragrances ever.

  • Very nice selection of rose fragrances for Valentine’s Day, I would have added Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin in the list, it is my favorite rose fragrance and I see it is similar to Rose Trocadéro of Le Jardin Retrouvé, so I would love win it.
Thank you very much for the opportunity.
    Regards from Mexico.

I enjoyed Steven’s video explaining all of the different Rose fragrances that he enjoys and your article was helpful making a decision. In a world where we have so many different rose based fragrances, it’s nice to have some people breaking down the differences. The fragrance that interests me the most is DeLuna Exclusive.

  • I love the variety of rose scents that Steven presented. There’s truly something for everyone on this list. I loved the bit of information about Cleopatra sprinkling rose petals in her boudoir. How luxurious! I would love to win any of the scents on the list as a rose lover but I must say that Delina Exclusif, Spice Must Flow, and Atomic Rose all sound especially beautiful (I’d love to win any though!). I am located in the USA and follow you on Instagram @cashley7

  • Steven’s enthusiasm for rose-focused scents is charming: I love the flower in all its forms. That said, I’m not big on gourmand roses (with an exception of Tocade), but I appreciate the greenish Rose Trocadero and Lyric Man. Michelyn is right: there is a rose fragrance for everyone, and I’m happy to see more new releases (coming up roses, indeed) every year: it’s a fascinating flower that has so many facets and aromas, no wonders perfumers can’t resist 🙂

I’d love to win Rose Trocadero. I’m from Russia

  • Michelyn short descriptions are so beautiful and informative.
I enjoyed this video! Love Steven detailed description.
Rose notes gives perfume sensuality and depth.
I am familiar with some of this perfumes, especially love Noir de Noir TF, Rose 31.
Would like to test Garanat and Brera.

  • Hi Michelyn and Steven,
Thank you for such a wonderful content! Perfect Rose theme for Valentine’s season and my Birthday month! I really enjoyed it. I totally agree that there is a rose fragrance for everyone, rose in combination with other notes can be so different.
Delina Exclusif and Atomic Rose are my two absolute dream perfumes, I would be over the moon if I won either, but unfortunately I’m in the UK, so not able to apply for them.
I would love to get Kajal LAMAR if I won. I have never tried any perfumes from that house, Steven made it sound very interesting though and it sounds right up my street!
Spices must flow sounds very interesting as well, I bet it is amazing! So would be happy to try this one as well.
Thank you for all your work and such an amazing opportunity!

  • Hi thanks for the great opportunity to win some fabulous prizes, I really loved Steven’s video, such a great selection of 12 Rose perfumes.
My absolute favourite is Atomic Rose.
Michelyin’s short descriptions of each perfume, were great and very informative.
If I win I would like to get Kajal LAMAR or Spice Must Flow.
I have not tried either, but both of these perfumes sound really amazing.

  • Rose is the flower for Valentines Day. I appreciate Michelyn’s discussion of types of roses in fragrances and Steven’s great reviews. I would love to win Initio Parfums Atomic Rose. I’m from Maryland,

  • Thanks to you all. Michelyn simply said “there is a rose fragrance for everyone” and Steven proved it in his video.
I`ve been watching Steven`s videos for a long time. He is always right on the point and I do enjoy his well-managed background as well. From his list, I tried Delina, Noir de Noir, Lyric Man, Atomic Rose before.
If there is any chance I would like to win Initio Atomic Rose. Thanks again for the draw. I live in the USA.

I have recently started to experiment a bit more and decided to stop uying flowery fragrances, especially rose-based or jasmine-based. But when I smell a rose-based perfume….I cannot resist!! Thank you very much for the article Michelyn and thanks to Steven for his review, I enjoyed it very much. Of the 12, I only know Brera and Spice must Flow, and I love both. I would love to win Spice must flow or Kajal, since I have heard so much about it and am dying to try it. Greetings from Italy

  • These are some nice picks. I’ve only tried Kajal Lamar and it’s a great scent. I’d like to check out
Atomic Rose (been wanting to try this one for a while now) and Delina Exclusif. Thanks, Ca

    Good Evening,

When Steven started speaking about Rose Fragrances, I happen to reach over to my bottle of Tabac Rose by BDK Parfums. So this fragrance didn’t make his list. It’s a beautiful, beast mode smell. The way I get compliments is women turn their heads as soon as I walk by. I stop to see the reactions and it is always a thumbs up. Rose fragrances can be mixed into anything.

The first time I smelled Initio Atomic Rose was at ScentXplore 2019. It’s a beautiful smelling, beast mode fragrance. That’s a fragrance that I can’t get out of my mind. The Turkish and Bulgarian Rose in it gives me joy and a sense of peace. It’s indescribable.

Michelyn Camen, Editor-in-Chief: your introduction to rose in Cleopatra’s time is something I did not know, but then again, rose had to exist in the earlier times of humanity. The different kinds of roses is mind boggling to know that the different variations has a unique smell. I own several bottles of rose fragrances. They are niche, designer and clone/dupes. It doesn’t matter to me, as long as I enjoy the smell.

I want to win Kajal Perfumes Lamar. I live in East Elmhurst, New York

  • Wow, what a generous draw! So many beautiful options, hard to choose just one… but thank you, Steven, for sharing such detailed descriptions, as well as where to find samples (you mentioned Perfumology, haven’t tried them!). A great breadth of rose options for a variety of moods and tastes. We forget, sometimes, that there is such variation with the fragrance of pure cultivated roses themselves and how greatly it can influence the character of a perfume. Thank you, Michelyn, for the reminder of this, and for teaching me a new one! I had never heard of the musk rose…. Perhaps Rose Trocodero would suit me best. I live in the US.

  • Enjoyed learning about some of the different varieties of roses in Michelyn’s introduction, some I’ve never heard of before. Steven’s description of the fragrances and the variety of rose combinations in these fragrances. Whether it’d be a soapy, fruity, citrusy, musky, chocolatey, or a spicy rose. Would love to win Delina Exclusif or Lamar. Thank you for the giveaway. USA

  • Michelyn introduction made me think of the rose fragrances I like the most. From all different types of roses she mentioned all i love , with the exception of “downright dirty”.
    * When I think Parfums de Marly , I always think Pegasus . Delina Exclusive feels like a happy and cheerful floral
    * In my possession right now is Oud for Happiness travel sprayer in 10ml . Atomic Rose i like because of the darker, sweeter twist
    * Etat Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow backstory is catchy, Dune is a classic scifi movie everyone should see. I know the fragrance, velvety rose, dry spiciness, and some non-gourmand sweetness.
    * I had a good feeling about Milano Fragranze after all the praises , so I ordered the sample set , and I have to say I’m impressed.Classic Patchouli and Rose fragrance , a bit sweet, and definitely spicy , it’s Italy after all.Brera is a beauty .
    * Big fan of Interlude Man . Stunning fragrance , Lyric Man I’ve never smelled.
    * Noir de Noir Tom Ford is one of the first expensive fragrances that I bought.
    * From all of Steven recommendations , Lamar is the one I’m interested the most , maybe it’s because I haven’t tried it, I’m not sure. The pineapple, cranberries, rose and sophisticated base tipped the scale i guess . No wonder Lamar means liquid gold in Arabic
    Thank you Michelyn, and Steven

I loved Michelyn’s introduction on Rose in fragrances which is one of the first ingredients used in perfumery. I loved learning about the history of Rose including with Cleopatra. There is definitely a Rose fragrance out there for everyone with it fitting into every type and genre of fragrances. Steven once again made a very comprehensive 12 best rose fragrance’s list for Valentine’s Day. I haven’t tried anything on his list as of yet. However; I have been dying to try the fruity rose masterpiece Kajal Lamar, Etat D Libre Orange Spice Must Flow…the way Steven describes the amazing quality of the Rose in this one plus I also enjoy Spicy Rose fragrances. I have also been wanting to try Initio Atomic Rose: the way he described it being a combination of Delina and Intense Cafe definitely caught my attention. If I win I would pick État Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow. I am from the USA.

  • I liked everything I have tried so far from Etat Libre d’Orange. I think I will like Spice Must Flow as well. Please count me in for that one. Europe.

  • I loved how Michelyn brought up roses as Cleopatra’s tool of romantic conquest and once again reminded us just how deeply seductive these flowers (and their scent) are.
Steven once again delighted us with a lovely, varied seduction fit to appease any taste and described each fragrance with his characteristic energy and knowledgeability.
My choice would be Rose Trocadero or Spice Must Flow, which I have been curious about for a long time.
    Thanks from the EU!

Worldclass perfumes are created by people gifted with the true meaning of Love ,,, everlasting sensuality

  • I had to laugh at Michelyn’s story of Cleopatra rose imprinting her signature. I always appreciate the juxtaposition of that type of history and background with Steven’s more emotion driven description, here of various rose treatments in perfume. I’m wearing Delina Exclusif now. I’m in USA and would choose Atomic Rose if I won. I’m a Redolessence subscriber and follow you on Insta – @frw60

  • I like the image of Cleopatra’s rose petal carpeted bedroom, a luxury fit for a ruler! All of these rose descriptions sound great as I love rose perfumes. Hearing the description from Steven of Kajal Lamar, it would have to be first on my try list. He makes it sound wonderful! I have tried Rose Trocadero and can attest that it is a beautiful rose. I like the different nuances Steven highlighted in each rose, the spices in Spice Must Flow, and the richness of Atomic Rose and Delina Exculisif. They all sound wonderful! I am in the USA.

  • Steven’s video was very helpful because I love rose fragrances. Some of these I’ve never heard of and I’d be pretty excited to try Atomic Rose. These would all make great gifts for Valentine’s Day. Michelyn, I had no idea Roses came from so many places all over the world. Definitely ties into the video and the Valentine’s Day theme. I’m in Orlando, FL.

  • Steven imho is the best channel and I have learned so much from the intro too
Atomic rose and Lamar are my choices

  • Yes I do agree there’s a rose for everyone, i prefer more gourmand , fruity, and ambery rose fragrances.
I relate all fragrances to some sort of food, so:
Delina Exclusive Rhubarb Pie , drinking litchi juice and having a walk with my girlfriend right next to the beach, when she’s holding a big bouquet of roses
The only Initio Parfums I know is Side Effect, smells very similar to Vanilla Bean Bundt Cake , drizzled with Rum i do 3-4 times a week at my bakery. I’ll try Atomic Rose too
I smell a lot of ginger in État Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow , to me smells like traditional Turkish Ginger and Rose Cake with cardamom. Traditionally it should be made with freshly chopped ginger, but it the States people prefer it with glaced ginger
Lyric Man is floral, woody and musky – elegant , formal occasions fragrance
Brera reminds me of making, and later eating Dark Chocolate Ganache with Saffron , and Candied Bergamot on top , having bouquet of roses right next to me
Tom Ford Noir de Noir i have never smelled before
Lamar, the best Kajal in my opinion, smells like Vanilla Cake with Strawberries and Pineapple , I do it almost every day at my bakery .
My favorites here are Lamar, Brera, Spice Must Flow, and Delina Exclusive.
    I’d love to win Lamar
Appreciate the introduction, and the giveaway campaign

  • I am happy that Steven chose Rose 31 for this top list. This is a favourite of mine as well though I have to agree that some people can have hard relationship with cumin, which is a very prominent note here. As for myself, I love cumin (for example in Lost in heaven by Franchesca Bianchi).
Lyric by Amouage is also superb – zesty, elegant and complex.
I would love to win Spice Must Flow, Lamar or Rose Trocadero.

Once again a beautiful and full of knowledge introduction by Michelyn! I always love to read your intros as you always include something to learn. I greatly agree to everything, rose is very iconic and is used for a very long time until now as a symbol for such romance and or love. I love the brief descriptions of each fragrances mentioned, they are all on points!
Also, as always, great in depth review and experiences shared by Steven. The fragrances mentioned truly deserves to be in the list.
As a man and on my very first journey with fragrances, rose is one of my most hated note, but now I fell in love with every rose fragrance I smelled! I even wear them eventhough it is feminine sometimes! My girlfriend’s favorite is Delina, and I would love to win Delina Exclusif and give it to her this valentines as a gift!
Thankyou to all the sponsors for sharing us these blessings!
    Cheers from USA

  • If I win the draw, then I’d choose E.L.D.O.’s “Spice must flow” since that one seemed the best to me out of the ones available for the draw (my second choice would be “Rose Trocadero”). I own and enjoy Milano Fragranze’s “Brera”. Currently, my favorite rose-prominent fragrance is “Cap D’Antibes” by Veronique Gabai, but it wasn’t mentioned in this review/article. I haven’t tried most of the fragrances which are mentioned in this review, so I appreciate Michelyn and Steven’s insight concerning these fragrances. I live in the U.S.A. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  • Cleopatra and Marc Antony rose story is well suited for the 2022 Valentines Day theme.
Delina Exclusive, jammy rose , tartness, and fruity ambery fragrance.
Initio Parfums Atomic Rose , modern, multifaceted fragrance with a high compliment factor
    Etat Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow i have , 10/10 fragrance .
Amouage Lyric Man I never smelled . Inviting , first date fragrance. I do admit I’m interested.
You can call Brera sensual, and romantic, but I have a feeling there’s some level of unpredictably and chaos in it too. It’s Italy we’re talking about .
Lamar “gold experience” surprised me, juicy fruity rose, with gourmand base. I don’t know why, but I smell marigolds in Lamar. I have a sample.
Tom Ford Noir de Noir is the second fragrance from Steven choices i have.
Since I have Spice Must Flow, Delina Exclusive, Atomic Rose and Lamar are the most impressive ones in the theme.
It was not easy to pick one of the three, after some hesitation… Lamar
    Overly exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • I live in Duluth, Georgia (USA) and I would love to win Atomic Rose from Initio. Rose is my favorite note in a fragrance. I would love to own this.

Michelyn’s introduction was just perfect and I really liked how Steven described each fragrances. Every description was very accurate.

    Thank you 🙂

  • Rose fragrances always have a story to tell, some are sad, some joyful, some playful , just on a rose train that suits you, and enjoy the ride
Unlike Delina La Rosée , which is fresher rose, Delina Exclusive is thicker, sweeter and overall a better fragrance.
I own Oud for Greatness , considered by many the best Initio Parfums fragrance , and I’m sure I’ll enjoy Atomic Rose just as much. The first one is formal occasions, day time fragrance only, Atomic Rose I think was made for the night, going out with friends for example .
Spice Must Flow Is like a warm pashmina scarf you wear around the neck in late Fall.
Sunshine Man I’m a fan of, Lyric Man I don’t know. Fresh rose
Milano Fragranze Brera is romantic , and cozy sensual rose .
Back in 2019 , on our anniversary my husband brought me to Paris. On the exact day we went to Montmartre, and I ate the best eclair in my life, speculoos eclair with red fruits and pineapple. The name of the place was “Pain Pain” . Steven and Michelyn combined take on Lamar was so vivid , i felt like I’m in Paris eating eclairs again, smelling the crimson roses hubby bought for me . I almost started drooling .
Liquid gold called Lamar I’d love to win.
    Thanks for the draw

  • As a man I’ve found rose to be a challenging note in fragrances I wear. So, it was interesting to have Steven cover a wide range of rose focused perfumes with other accents. I know from his notes and Michelyn’s above, that my focus would be one that was blended with spices. I narrowed it to two, and in the end Michelyn’s use of mystical tipped the scales. I’d like the Spice Must Flow if I win.

Thanks for the great review Steven. It’s cool to see that some of these fragrances have been in your collection for a long time. I appreciate the different nuances that you’ve given us about these roses. With a note like rose, it takes experience to spot the differences between the different presentations.

It was nice to read Michelyns introduction because I learnt a little bit of history and about all the different kinds of roses.

I would love to win any of the US offerings. My rankings would be
    1. Rose Trocadero
    2. Spice Must Flow
    3. Atomic Rose

I have followed Steven on YouTube for a while now, probably before I registered here and with a slightly different username (if I need to provide this, let me know). I’m on IG as @ theprintedword. I imagined him being the perfume “sommelier” at a spa and explaining each of these perfumes to the clients all lined up with their feet up. Specifically with these rose perfumes, I love the fact that “rose” cannot be defined in a single way or form. Michelyn made the excellent point in her intro that it can be used in so many ways, in jammy form (apparently my preference these days), in a gourmand fragrance, photorealistic, etc. but I didn’t realize until she listed so many options what is possible! How appropriate that the queen of all the flowers in the perfume kingdom is the flower we associate with Valentine’s Day. I live in the US / Maryland. Thanks for the draw. If I win one of these, I’d prefer:
    1. Initio – Atomic Rose – as I heard this is a great adjunct fragrance to make Van Cleef and Arpels Rose Rouge (which I love) last longer. I don’t like Delina on its own so Steven’s description of Atomic Rose being a cross between Delina and Intense Cafe sounds delicious.
    2. Le Jardin Retrouve – Rose Trocadero – I discovered some weeks ago that I love black currant in fragrances. I guess there’s not as many of them out there b/c it’s not popular? In any event, this sounds lovely.
    3. Kajal Lamar – you had me at fruit + rose.

  • I so wonder why some English speaking countries , mostly US, are changing the names of historical figures, just so people can pronounced them easily? Marcus Antonius
Back to the original topic, as usual I’ll share my thoughts on the fragrances I know, or want to try starting with the way Steven showed them in the video.
-Bvlgari Garanat I’d like to try, from all Le Gemme premium line, the only one I know is Tygar
    -Noir de Noir, I can’t get enough of it , i just can’t. I have 250ml decanter.
-Lyric Man is beautiful, but kind of tamed. I wish it was stronger.
-Delina Exclusive is sweeter, louder and woody-er older Delina sister
-Brera is a special fragrance . To me smells like if Masque Milano Love Kills , and Tango had a kid , it also amps up the dustiness by a lot. The chocolate coming from the patchouli, is so pleasantly dusty , it reminds me of smelling up close Nesquik Powder. On top of all its beauty , Brera is also quite loud .
As far as i can remember , it was also Michelyn favorite Milano Fragranze perfume.
    – Spice Must Flow by Etat Libre d’Orange to me smells like a hand made lokum, I believe most people know as Turkish delight.
    – Atomic Rose by Initio, I like how Steven compared it to Delina and Intense Cafe. Something in Atomic Rose also reminds me of Baccarat Rouge 540 , especially in the base.
    – I had high expectations for Lamar from the very beginning, jammy rose, juicy fruity ambery gourmand , the best Kajal in my opinion.
    – “For a Baker’s Dozen, one of Steven’s favorite rose/oud perfumes: Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle The Night (Dominique Ropion) 2014”
The one Michelyn added, The Night i can’t stand, I’m sorry. It’s so dirty and skanky, it’s unbearable.
If I have to rate Steven’s list:
    1. Lamar/Noir de Noir
    2. Atomic Rose
    3. Brera
    I’d prefer Lamar
    @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • I enjoyed both the video and Michelyn’s introduction– I’d especially like to hear more about “green rose” scents in the future. Of all things, I used to have a liquid hand soap that was the epitome of green-rose to me, but it got discontinued, and I’ve been on a mission to find others ever since. Steven’s video, like the others of his I’ve seen, is helpful for giving details of his personal experiences with the scents. I haven’t tried any of the ones mentioned, except a Rose 31 body lotion, which actually wasn’t rosy enough for me! If I win, I’d most like to have Rose Trocadero, Spice Must Flow, or Lamar.

  • My clear favorites from the 22′ Valentines Day list are as follows:
    1. Tom Ford Noir de Noir, simply gorgeous. I always wear it on New Years Eve
    2. Kajal Lamar , fruits with vanillic dessert , and rich voluptuous rose
    3. Brera Milano Fragranze. I’m a fan of spicy , slightly sweet rose-patch fragrances, with sophisticated touch.
    4. Initio Atomic Rose I know Rehab , it’s part of the Hedonist collection. One of my husband’s favorite fragrances. Atomic Rose sounds just as good
Lamar would make me really happy

Wonderful review and intro! What I enjoyed about Steven’s video is how he compares the specific notes and differences in some of the similar fragrances, such as when he compares Amouage Lyric to Bvlgari Garanat, both being incensey roses, but with Lyric being brighter and fresher up top with a lime citrus character and also more complex with many different incense ingredients in the base. Also when he compares Noir de Noir to Mancera’s Roses and Chocolate. As someone who has tried and loves Amouage Lyric, I really appreciate that comparison as it really piques my interest to try Bvlgari Garanat!

What I enjoyed about Michelyn’s introduction is how she enumerated all those different types of rose fragrances – so many! I definitely agree that roses have so many facets, and I have many rose fragrances that are so completely different from each other. I also don’t know that other flowers, such as jasmine and orange flower, are quite so versatile. She also put ideas into my head about new categories of rose I have yet to try – I don’t really have any aromatic, fruity, or gourmand roses and clearly that is something that needs to be remedied!

Of Steven’s dozen, Amouage Lyric Man is definitely one of my favorites – it’s probably in my top 5 rose fragrances. I live in the US. If were to win, I would like to win these fragrances in the following order of preference:

    1) Atomic Rose
    2) Delina Exclusif
    3) Kajal Lamar
    4) Spice Must Flow

  • Great review- comparison yet again! I really appreciate Steven comparing and unpacking different facets and iterations of rose perfumes.
I’d like to win Kajal Lamar and I’m in EU
