Thameen London Blue Heart Review (2022) + A Gem of a Giveaway

Thameen London Blue Heart

Thameen London Blue Heart by Olya Bar

Experiencing Blue Heart by Thameen London is like pushing the door open into the royal universe of opulent and timeless elegance. A blast of fragrant saffron, an ingredient as precious perhaps as the famous gem that inspired its creation, greets us with all its glory from the start. Thameen London Blue Heart is one of the most unique coconut spins I have ever laid my nose on. A spicy lactonic opening leads to a rich buttery heart of orris spun with warm vanilla and nutty tonka bean. Sounds gourmand, right? Not so fast there. Quite an unusual cocktail if you ask me. There is a fruit-like heart that gives off a feeling of a creamy mango smoothie, fleshy, sweet, and quite a gourmand; however, it’s mostly an imaginary note as it is not listed anywhere. The lactonic lushness wrestles with the intense fragrant decadence of saffron which brings a touch of pepper-like spiciness, and the balsamic smokiness of the cypriol oil adds an incredible dose of depth to the structure.

Considering the inspiration Thameen London draws for many of their works and the mesmerizing deep blue color of the Thameen bottles, my mind went immediately to the famous Blue Heart diamond. Its story began in 1908 when it was discovered in South Africa. When it was found, the diamond weighed a whopping 100.5 carats and made quite a splash in the media worldwide. Over the years, Blue Heart Diamond has fallen under the ownership of many entities, socialites, and famous jewel houses like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Henry Winston and graced many necks with its presence as it was continuously reset into new designs before finding its permanent home at the National Gem Collection in the Smithsonian Institute where it remains until this day. Thameen London Blue Heart celebrates its glory in all the right facets, bringing to the forefront the aromatic saffron that takes one of the leading roles in the overall composition. Framed by the iris, which adds a buttery thickness to the heart, amplifying the nuttiness of the coconut, it mimics the platinum setting framing the diamond within, highlighting and magnifying all its beauty but never outshining it.

Thameen Blue Heart review

Thameen London Blue Heart Lifestyle by Olya Bar

Let’s dive deeper into one of the notes used to build the base of the fragrance, and it happens to be among some of my favorites, Nagarmotha. Its aroma is rich and persistent, with a strong woody, earthy, and deep characteristic. It can easily replace the patchouli so often used in the base of fragrances these days. Nagarmotha brings a lot more richness to the aroma and is incredibly complex as an accord. It is somewhat peppery even with smoky notes of leather, displays great tenacity, and boasts rich, sweet-woody undertones, especially when blended with vanilla, amber, and tonka bean.

Thameen London Blue Heart is a devilishly lavish release, warm and enveloping. It is worth mentioning that despite its sumptuous structure, it may not necessarily wow every single person as the gem that perhaps inspired it, but it will sure make you stop in your tracks as I promise you, it is not quite like anything you have smelled before

Saffron, Coconut, Orris, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Cypriol Oil, Nagarmotha, Amber, White Musk.

The bottle was kindly gifted by Twisted Lily but opinions are always my own. I am a digital strategist for the company.

  • Damn, I would have loved to win this. Sadly, I am not eligible. Good luck to everyone that is.

  • First of all, I have to say the bottle looks incredible. My mind first went to a fresh aquatic scent but am pleasantly surprised to know that it’s a woody and earthy fragrance. Really enjoyed the short story on the Blue Heart diamond by Olya and the detailed description of this fragrance. From TX, USA.

  • ScentedKnits says:

The Nagarmotha addition makes it sound like an intriguing twist on a coconut fragrance. I would love the chance to have a bottle of Blue Heart. I live in the US.

  • A smoky coconut fragrance? Count me in. I am a fan of Thameen. Sceptre being my favorite. I liked the mention of the Blue Heart diamond and will be researching it soon. Saffron, along with Cypriol Oil and Nagarmotha are notes that I do enjoy. Thanks for another wonderful review and draw. Mich USA

  • Thameen London Blue sounds very nice. Love the notes. The blue bottle had always been a favorite of mine. Wonderful review Olya. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • I have not tried anything from Thameen London yet so the only familiarity I have with the brand is the hype I have heard over their incredibly popular Carved Oud. That said, I have been interested in getting my nose on their scents and this one sounds really nice. Olya mentioned several times that Blue Heart has unique qualities and a twist on cocnut that she has never experienced before. I love things that area bit out of the ordinary, so this intrigues me. I love saffron as well and Olya was quite pleased with its use within this one as it offered both its softeness and its peppery edge. Overall, this sonds like a very interesting fragrance with common ingredients used in not-so-common ways. Sign me up! Reading from North Carolina, USA.

  • BoogieDaddy says:

Oooooh, a smoked out coconut fragrance sounds enticing. Love Olya’s description of the saffrom hit followed by a fantasy fruit experience not listed in the notes. I love mysterious combos like that. Sounds like a delicious fragrance for sure. Love Thameen’s blue bottles, so pretty. I have yet to try anything from them yet, but have heard good things. I live in the USA.

  • Olya!! ❤️❤️ Excellent review!! I’m a fan of Thameen Royal Saphire and am quite curious about what Chong will do with the house. Thank you for the wonderful description! Sounds quite interesting! USA ❤️

  • I was sold on Blue Heart by Olya’s description of the buttery thickness of the iris heart and how it compliments the coconut. Of the few Thameen fragrances I’ve tried so far, I really like Royal Sapphire (for me) and Riviere (on my partner). However, this scent sounds like my ideal profile so I am very eager to try it! From Illinois, US. Thanks!

  • Omg, this sounds so good based on Olyas description. I love tonka, lactonic notes.

  • A saffron fragrance framed by iris and coconut?! Sign me up. I have really never seen the pairing of coconut and saffron. I have never tried Thameen but would be happy to have this as an introduction. I live in the US.

  • This sounds unique and scrumptious. Since it’s not actually listed, Olya’s impression of an imaginary “mango smoothie” feeling really intrigues me. Even though the description is vivid I have a hard time really guessing how the combination with saffron, coconut, orris, nagarmotha will really play out! This would be my first intro to Thameen fragrances, if I would be so lucky as to win. 😉 I’m in the USA, thank you for the draw!

  • Each and every time I hear about diamonds and jewelry , I do start thinking about one particular song:

    Men grow cold
    As girls grow old
And we all lose our charms in the end
    But square-cut or pear-shaped
These rocks don’t lose their shape
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend
    —–‘
Carol Channing – Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best

It happened again when I read how Thameen took inspiration from sime of the most precious jewels in the world.
I’ve been as a adult to Tower of London, of course the public areas and I saw the Crown Jewels exhibit, and also to Smithsonian Institute as a teen , both experiences I’ll never forget .
There are two Thameen fragrances I’ve sampled , and Royal Sapphire is one of them , the other one is Carved Oud.
I’m pleased by the history lesson , and Olya approach to Blue Heart.
With her review Olya transported me to a old wooden cabin in the woods, getaway vacation with my husband , and overall cozy, and warm experience.
Of course being Olya, my fellow cocktail lover , and with the help of the bottles and the empty glasses on the 3th picture , plus the notes of Blue Heart, I think one Mango Coconut Daiquiri sprinkled with saffron will only add to the whole picture 😉
Royal Sapphire and Carved Oud are awesome to the same extent
I’ll now actually treat myself with Mango Coconut Daiquiri , cheers
    Thank you for the opportunity

  • Eric Enzman says:

Excellent description Oliya – I only ever hear about Carved Oud from this house, so I am intrigued by this new offering. In my head I am smelling something akin to a Xerjoff Cruz Del Sur II -Knut imagining an added powderiness from the orris and nose catching saffron opening. Would love to be entered to win and will be crossing my fingers! I live in Pittsburgh, PA.

  • Olya says Thameen London Blue Heart opens with saffron and has a coconut twist she has never experienced before. Nagarmotha also adds richness to the composition though Olya feels this perfume may not appeal to everyone but to certain tastes. I am in US.

  • I happen to love Cypriol and I know it can be a polarizing scent. I just love how it uplifts without being naive or screechy. And to have a warming Orris, vanilla and amber to balance is beautiful. But what intrigues me the most is how coconut is being used?! I’m very interested in how this all comes together.
In California, USA. Thank you for the opportunity.

  • I rarely get this excited after just reading the first paragraph. This sounds like my dream scent. Coconut…ok I’m in. Coconut with laconic nuances and tonka been…even better. But then I read it is also not really a gourmand and it has peppery and spicy notes too. There is nothing I love more than an original spin on coconut, which is in my opinion very rare. This is the first Thameen I am truly excited to try! I did try a few and they were pretty good, so I like the brand, but so far none of them truly resonated with me enough to get a bottle. This one might! I’m from Illinois, US.

  • Interesting twist on the notes used, sounds both elegant and delicious. The nagarmotha is a unique note that isn’t often represented in perfumes which also sets this scent apart. I’m in the USA.

  • Love Olya’s description, this is why:
“Thameen London Blue Heart is a devilishly lavish release, warm and enveloping. It is worth mentioning that despite its sumptuous structure, it may not necessarily wow every single person as the gem that perhaps inspired it, but it will sure make you stop in your tracks as I promise you, it is not quite like anything you have smelled before

Saffron, Coconut, Orris, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Cypriol Oil, Nagarmotha, Amber, White Musk.”
It’s will be amazing to try Blue Heart , thank you for opportunity Cafleurebon and Twisted lily , following all mentioned accounts and liked all you great posts

  • Ooh it looks delicious! I have never had the chance to smell nagarmotha but I am fascinated by the profile. I wish perfumers would be more distinctive about describing “white musk” in notes since it hardly tells me much. Very curious about this one. In Hawaii.

  • Johnmichael02302 says:

I absolutely love the house of Thameen. Royal Sapphire & Riviere are two of my all time favorites… Olya is just as amazing too. Whenever I see her name i can’t help but be reminded of our dearly departed Carlos @ BFL. They were the perfect team & I miss that so much. Thank you guys for the hard work & opportunity to win this gem!

  • I love how Olya described the mix of smoky leather and sweeter notes! Blue Heart sounds like a unique perfume that I would love to try. Thanks for the opportunity to win a bottle! I’m in MN, USA and my favorite perfume from Thameen that I’ve tried is Carved Oud.

  • Thameen London Blue Heart sounds like it took a very unique approach to coconut. From the notes it doesn’t sound terribly gourmand which is intriguing. The saffron and orris seems like they would add interesting peppery, earthy facets. I’ve also never encountered Nagarmotha. It sounds like a great patchouli alternative. I have not tried anything from this house yet. MD, USA.

  • I’m familiar with more than half of Thameen fragrances, and if I have to rate my favorite ones:
    1.Nassak / Carved Oud
    2. Amber Room
    3. Cullinan Diamond
Nagarmotha also known as Cypriol do have a distinct mixture of cedar, oud , and smoky-earthy characteristics.
I don’t know Blue Heart , but I’ll definitely sample the fragrance. I wonder if I would relate more to the cedar like , and smoky-woody facets of the fragrance, or more to gourmand once? Creamy mango smoothly sounds great too.
Hopefully I’ll get the best of both worlds , a bit more vanilla, saffron and coconut, but iris and cypriol should be present too .
All profiles I already follow, @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

  • Thameen has been one of the fragrance houses that has caught my eye recently. Knew nothing about the house until a month ago and I have been very intrigued. Blue Heart coming with this vanilla and tonka bean is one of my favorite combos but to add some coconut on there is just setting my radar off. Olya mentions this note of nagarmotha and I am not familiar with and will definitely have to do some more research on but the way it’s described I can see it’ll be something that i’ll need to be adding to the collection soon.

I do not have any fragrances from the house at all but I have ordered some decants so we will see how they go.

  • Classy and refined woody-ambery fragrance , with playful sweetness , i think I can make a statement wearing Blue Heart.
I like the the buttery iris, the sweet and woody undertones, and great performance – modern and bold fragrance at its best.
Precious jewels is rather uncommon inspiration for a niche house , I’ll have to look for a sample set . I’ll also appreciate more Thameen reviews on Cafleurebon , especially Carved Oud , the most popular Thameen fragrance , at least on social media .
    Thanks for the draw

  • Olya did a fantastic review here. To me, Thameen London is a top notch niche fragrance house, being Carvead Oud my favorite so far.
Blue Heart seems like a great fragrance for warm weather and special ocassions. I love that the inspiration behind is the gem discovered in South Africa.
I love saffron and nargamotha, so I think this one I would love it.
    USA here.

  • What a beautiful review by Olya. I loved the comparison to the Blue Heart – this will certainly remain in my mind now every time I hear about this fragrance. Like many other commenters, the Nagarmotha note makes this fragrance especially interesting to me. I enjoy patchouli in small doses and think the similarities would lead me to enjoy this scent. I don’t think I have smelled anything from this house so I have no favorite! Based in the US.

  • I enjoyed reading about the history of Blue Heart Diamond in Olya’s review of Thameen London Blue Heart. The bottle is beautiful and I am intrigued by the notes, especially nagarmotha!! Unfortunately I have not tried this brand so no favorites, yet. Like the diamond it represents, Thameen London Blue Heart does seem to be a unique perfume. Thanks for the review and dra. I am from the USA.

  • Thanks for the review, Olya. Thameen London Blue Heart sounds like a must-try. There’s a lot going on with this fragrance—bold saffron, coconut, fruity aspects, woody Nagarmotha, orris, smoky cypriol, that comfortable pairing of vanilla and tonka. The interplay of saffron, iris, and coconut is an interesting focus, and I’m curious how they interact, especially next to Nagarmotha (which I don’t believe I’ve encountered before now). I’d love to try this one.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I haven’t tried any Thameen London fragrances.

  • The notes sound really nice. I very much appreciated Olya’s explaination of the inspiration, and her description of the scent of nagarmotha as well, it was interesting and helpful. Also I like how she said it smells different from most anything else. The iris especially and the combination Olya mentioned of nagarmotha with vanilla amber and Tonka really grab my attention. I’ve yet to try anything from the brand. Thanks for the generous draw, from CT USA.

What appealed to me about Olya’s review of Thameen London Blue Heart is learning about the Blue Heart Diamond in 1908 that was discovered in South Africa. When it was found, the diamond weighed a whopping 100.5 carats. I loved learning about the spicy saffron combining with that sweet lactonic coconut nuance along with a buttery orris and creamy vanilla. Olya makes this fragrance sound truly divine. My favorite from the brand is Royal Sapphire. I am from the USA.

  • Thameen London Blue Heart.
What a beautiful bottle, and the coconut, saffron, and thanks to Olya for the description of Nagarmotha, I would like to try this fragrance.

    Thanks to all.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I am truly interested in trying this fragrance. I appreciate Olya sharing her insight regarding nagarmotha, and I’d like to see what the nagarmotha is like in this fragrance. Also, it seems like it is a unique fragrance, and I’d like to try it for that reason too. I’ve only tried one fragrance release from Thameen and it is “Regent Leather” and I liked its scent. I live in the U.S.A.

  • Smithsonian is not just one museum or institute, but large group of different museums, research centers. I few years ago I had the honor of being invited to be part of a team of Chefs, who cooked the diversified menu for Copper Hewitt, the Historic and Contemporary Design Museum Gala Event.
Copper Hewitt is not part of the DC Headquarters, but part of the Museum Mile in Upper East Side , in the beautiful ex Andrew Carnegie Manhattan mansion. If I have to guess the National Gem Collection is in DC
Olya Bar take on Blue Heart made me think of making
Mango Phirni for a Smithsonian Gala Event , somewhere in the open.
The smell of the Mango Phirni, the greenness and the soil in the garden, all combined is how I would imagine Blue Heart.
For those who don’t know, Phirni is delicious rice pudding with desiccated coconut, dried fruits, cardamom, saffron and various nuts. The addition of mango and/or mango puree only enhances the sweetness, richness and creamy texture of the Phirni.
I’m not yet familiar with Thameen

  • The woods and saffron in Blue Heart sound like a gorgeous blend! Cypriol oil is not a note that I can pick out easily in fragrances. I would love to smell how it differs from patchouli. I loved learning about the Blue Heart Diamond and how it was owned by so many different entities. I haven’t yet smelled any from Thameen London but the bottles certainly draw my attention.

Thanks for the review and giveaway. In the USA.

  • FragranceIsMe says:

I truly enjoy how Olya brings my olfactive imagination to life through her reviews. This creations has really piqued my interest. The notes of saffron, coconut, and iris…along with the warmth of vanilla and depth/richness of nagarmotha. Oh my goodness! This one is calling my name. This sounds uniquely exquisite.

I enjoy Carved Oud (which many liken to Oud Wood with better performance) and Royal Sapphire from this house. I find Thameen to be a quality fragrance house for sure.
    From PA, USA

  • I love the time spent describing the Nagarmotha scent.
It sounds like a note that will be used more.
I have never smelled a scent from this house.

Thanks for the great review Olya! This is such an unusual scent – saffron mixed with lactonic notes is note something I’ve heard before.

I also love the use of Nagarmontha and Cypriol in this to create a wonderful richness and balsamic quality.

    The presentation is fantastic.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • If possible, in the future Thameen London reviews, do you mind letting us know is there a difference between the blue , and red bottles from the brand? I’ve seen reviews, and pictures of the same fragrances, and some bottles are blue, sone are red?!? Are they the same , or the red ones are with higher concentrated.
Blue Heart is appealing to me because the juicy mango , and coconut gourmand part, and woody , smoky and spicy dry down.
Potential compliment getter of the highest quality possible.
I have no experience with Thameen London , i’ll look for samples

    -Crockett & Jones shoemaker.
-I had the pleasure of meeting Angela Kelly once , the ex-personal assistant, dresser and milliner of the late Queen Elizabeth II .
From Blue Heart I’m expecting premium expirience , and craftsmanship on pair with Gieves & Hawkes , and Crockett & Jones work , that would remind me of the obviously famous Blue Heart diamond.
In Olya review I like the extra information about the diamond, and the balance between the sweeter, and more earthy green part of Blue Heart.
My favorite Thameen fragrance is Carved Oud

Great revew Olya! What appealed to me about Olya’s review is her description of how Nagarmotha is used to build the base of the fragrance how it can take the place of patchouli but adds more richness and complexity with peppery and smoky notes of leather in addition to the deep, woody, earthiness. As someone who finds patchouli overused and a little boring, that sounds much more interesting!

My favorite from the brand is Royal Sapphire. I live in the US.
