In the enchanting realm of perfumery, where olfactory artistry meets the creative imagination, Thameen Bohemian Infusion composed by the esteemed Master Perfumer Maurice Roucel and Senior Perfumer Alexandra Carlin of Symrise, in collaboration with Christopher Chong, Creative Director at Thameen (the second in Thameen’s Britologne series) mesmerizes the senses with its blend of aromatic and herbaceous nuances, and its exceptional longevity and projection. Let us embark on a fragrant journey that unveils the captivating story behind Thameen Bohemian Infusion.

Cafe Royal, Park Street, London. Where Oscar Wilde And George Bernard Shaw Dined, (1912) William Orpen via wikiart

Thameen Bohemian Infusion pays homage to the dandyism of the early 20th century, a period renowned for its sophistication and elegance. London, a city steeped in history, culture, and creativity, serves as the backdrop for this olfactory narrative. During this era, London was a vibrant hub of artistic expression and intellectual pursuits, with a rich tapestry of avant-garde movements and flamboyant individuals who dared to defy conventions.

The opening of Thameen Bohemian Infusion is a symphony of vibrant notes. Blackcurrant and grapefruit combine to create a sparkling and invigorating introduction, setting the stage for the olfactory journey to come. As the fragrance unfolds, ginger and cardamom add a touch of heat, infusing the composition with an alluring warmth. The base notes of amber, labdanum, and ambroxan cocoon the scent with a cozy and inviting embrace, leaving an impression on the wearer and those around them.

Thameen Bohemian Infusion is a harmonious composition that celebrates the delightful fusion of aromatic and herbaceous notes. At its heart lie two distinctive botanicals: myrtle and artemisia. Myrtle, with its fresh and invigorating aroma, evokes a sense of vitality, while artemisia lends a herbaceous and green nuance, adding depth and complexity to the fragrance.

In the art of perfumery, sometimes the subtlest ingredients create the most remarkable impact. Thameen Bohemian Infusion pairs the citrus of grapefruit with petitgrain, resulting in a verdant nuance that dances on the skin. The vibrant grapefruit brings a zesty sparkle to the opening, while petitgrain contributes a touch of green freshness, enhancing the fragrance’s overall character.

Bohemian Infusion embodies the duality of warm and cool tones, creating a harmonious blend that entices and intrigues, weaving together contrasting elements, evoking a play of opposites. The warmth of the composition is accentuated by the use of patchouli, which takes centre stage in the base, lending a sophisticated and confident allure. Meanwhile, cool tones and aromatic facets bring a refreshing balance to the overall experience.

Thameen Bohemian Infusion has a distinct sense of style and free-spirited individuality. With its robust patchouli note, this fragrance embraces its retro charm, evoking a sense of nostalgia. It carries a certain masculine energy, reminiscent of the confident, yet sensitive men of that era.

Notes: Grapefruit, Pettigrain, Blackcurrant, Cardamom, Artemesia, Longoza, Cinnamon, Myrtle, Ambrostar, Labdanum, Ambre 83 de Laire, Patchouli.

Thank you for the review of Thameen London’s Bohemian Infusion, Karl! I am such a big fan of this fragrance line, and to be honest there isn’t a fragrance that they produced that I haven’t loved or appreciated. Carved Oud and Insignia have been favorites of mine from the line for some time now, and I would just love to get my nose on Bohemian Infusion as I’m sure the DNA that’s in Thameen would create another lovely creation to my liking.

The vibrant opening of Bohemian Infusion creates something I really love in top notes of fragrance, which is sparkling fruit accords. Blackcurrant and grapefruit sound like a fabulous pair to introduce the olfactory experience of this one.
As the warmer notes of ginger and cardamom are introduced it sounds like a really interesting transition, and I would imagine that the grapefruit note would fade beautifully into the ginger.
And as always, I love a cozy dry down in the base of amber, labdanum, and ambroxan.
I would love to see how the petitgrain paired with the grapefruit creates that green freshness in which I love.
This is a fragrance where I feel that opposites really do attract when the meeting of its bright and warm notes join together to create a beautiful scent to the skin.
I would really love to see how cinnamon plays a role in Bohemian Infusion as well. Sounds delightful.
I always appreciate with Thameen that their line creates scents that last and have longevity even in the warmer months.

  • Sounds like an especially intriguing fragrance! It’s always so interesting when a perfume is able to wake up your other senses, like the way Karl describes the interplay of warm and cold in this scent.

  • Thank you Karl for introducing another banger. Maurice Roucel as creator caught my attention since one of my all-time favorites is one of his creations (Musc Ravageur that he did for Frederic Malle). I’ve only experienced Regent Leather from Thameen London and Bohemian Infusion Cologne Elixir sounds pretty impressive. I’m in Texas USA

  • I love grapefruit in a scent and the green touches of the peri grain is a note I’m really starting to enjoy. I would love to experience this bohemian scent. I have not tried anything from this house. In maryland.

The notes in this composition hit the bullseye for me. My favorite from this house is Royal Sapphire & Carved
    Oud.

The description of Thameen Bohemian Infusion perfume in Karl’s review paints a vivid and enticing picture of a fragrance that embodies a unique blend of aromatic and herbaceous notes. It seems like a fragrance that I would appreciate. From CA, USA

  • Wow, this sounds fantastic! Karl’s review certainly has me intrigued, especially with all the talk of duality within the composition. I love fragrances that combine warm and cool tones. There’s just something about the juxtaposition of fresh aromatics up against an ambery base. Scents such as Maitre Parfumeur Et Gantier Ambre Precieux and Paloma Picasso Minotaure have pulled this off with great success. Karl mentioned this one being an homage to dandyism and that sense of excessive refinement really excites me. I can imagine wearing this to a formal cocktail party with colleagues or while relaxing in my smoking jacket, sipping on a sidecar. Either way, I’m sure to be the best smelling gent in the room. All jokes aside, this sounds like a real winner and would love to get my nose on it. I have yet to try anything Thameen has released since Mr. Chong joined the company and I’m eager to experience some of his new visions. Carved Oud and Cullinan Diamond were probably my favorites from the pre-Chong era. Best of luck to everyone. I live in NC, USA.

  • I love that Karl sees this fragrance as something that a confident yet sensitive man would wear. That’s basically me and I’m not afraid of it, particularly because I’m not afraid of feeling the way I do. I love that this is invigorating. I’m a big fan of black currant and the warm spices, such as clove, ginger, and cardamom. This one sounds really yummy. Big fan of the stuff Christopher Chong has worked on, and I’m sure this one is fantastic too. My favorite from Thameen so far is Regenet leather.
    Cheers from Illinois, USA!

  • This one is exciting, coming off recently smelling Fanfare which is my brand fav. I often enjoy scents that tap into retro charm as Karl said and no doubt this one lives up to that.

  • I absolutely love an earthy fragrance. The artemesia and myrtle notes caught my attention. I liked the mention of “cool tones and aromatic facets.” Thanks for another wonderful review and draw. Mich USA

One of the main reasons why Bohemian Infusion is so appealing to me , is because of Christopher Chong coming to Thameen, and changing the brand with his creative genius.
The fragrance falls into the elegant herbal aromatic , and spicy category, and the base of amber , labdanum and ambroxan is making it more suave .
Everybody knows Maurice Roucel , and the upcoming talanted perfumer Alexandra Carlin i know because of Velvet Tonka from BDK.
I have no experience with Thameen , I need to find a sample set
    Exciting giveaway, USA
    Regards

  • Thameen Bohemian Infusion sounds like a beautiful aromatic fragrance. The combination of blackcurrant with spices and cozy amber seems perfect for autumn and winter. However, the myrtle and artemisia make it seem just as fitting for warmer weather. I love how Karl mentions that Bohemian Infusion embodies warm and cool tones. The warmth of the patchouli combined with the coolness of the aromatic facets really appeals to me. My favorites from Thameen include Peregrina and The Cora. Thank you, Karl, for the review, and thank you Twisted Lily for the giveaway. I am located in the USA.

I love Maurice Roucel and this sounds delightful. The labdanum and ambroxan sound dreamy. I’d love to win and live in Indiana.

  • Thameen Bohemian Infusion seems inspired by the early 20th century London when avant-garde art was thriving in the city. It starts on a fruity notes and concludes the journey with warm basenotes. It seems under Chong, Thameen is solely focused on Britain as the inspiration for fragrances. My fav. from the brand is Carved Oud. I am in US.

  • What appealed to me was the promise that “Bohemian Infusion embodies the duality of warm and cool tones…”. I have no favorite from the brand.

  • PerfumesforLife says:

I am a fan of free-spirited fragrances that are in the intersection of art and history and this seems to be one if them. Patchouli has always been associated with the bohemian scene and I am glad there us a new take on it here. Blackcurrant and grapefruit then ginger and cardamom adds the intertwined effect of heat and cold then adding amber and labdanum at the base. The sense of nostalgia/free-spirit and artistic expression is something that I think would result and that’s beautiful. would love to be entered for the giveaway.

Great review Karl. This is one of the fragrance houses that have held me captive since discovering them late last year. Green Pearl, Blue Heart, and Fanfare have all won their way into my olfactive heart. Stunning fragrances from a quality house. I look forward to getting my nose on this latest release.

Karl review is spot on, at least I believe so. Often we’re not on the same page , but as far as Bohemian Infusion is concerned , he took the words out of my mouth.
Maybe the idea behind the fragrance was indeed to pay homage to the early 20th century dandyism , yet to me it smells like it’s made to mimic the lifestyle of Miami in the early and mid 80s.
I can easily see Don Johnson as detective Sonny Crockett in Miami Vice wearing Bohemian Infusion, with white suit , and driving his white Ferrari Testarossa …
The fragrance like Karl said, is herbal , green and aromatic. It’s also dry , with quite interesting opening , where I can clearly smell hefty dose of eucalyptus.
Again I agree with Carl about the base , it’s leaning on the more earthy patchouli, it is old-school, and even though I believe that everyone should wear what they like , I too believe it leans more on the masculine side.
If I have to rate my favorite Thameen London fragrances:
    1. Nassak / Carved Oud
    2. Amber Room
    3. Cullinan Diamond
Nassak and Carved Oud are in my possession
    All profiles I already follow , @waltherp99bg
    Thanks a lot

I am an ardent Thameen fan ever since I first became aware of this brand. Some of my personal Thameen favourites are Regent Leather and Sceptre.
I love notes of blackcurrent in a perfume. Another favourite with blackcurrent is Tonkazure by Gallagher Fragrances.
I love how the fruity notes of grapefruit and blackcurrent eventually give way to warmer notes of ginger and cardamom. It’s interesting to note that it was inspired by the higher society in 20th century London and the sophistication of the era. I also love how this fragrance is touted to have exceptional longevity. The chemistry between this fragrance is something I would love to experience!
Thanks for another fantastic in depth review!

I have been a big fan of Maurice Roucel for quite some time now. So, I am surprised that this one flew under the radar for me.
I like how Karl’s review highlighted the simplicity of the ingredients of the composition, but how the perfume is greater than the sum of its parts and how it has quite the alluring impact. Being from the former territory of Bohemia, I would love to see how the perfume interprets that time and place as well as the wider concept. I also like how Karl’s review talked about the kind of person who would wear this. I would like to consider myself sophisticated yet mysterious and alluring and I would love a scent that could help with that and perhaps even become a signature scent!

I love the story behind this and the note breakdown sounds very interesting. “The warmth of the composition is accentuated by the use of patchouli, which takes centre stage in the base, lending a sophisticated and confident allure. Thanks for the review, Karl.
The duality of its warm and cool tones makes Bohemian Infusion sound quite interesting. The names of Chong, Roucel and Carlin simply lift it to a must-try!
    Greetings from California.

  • 2 1/2 years into collecting fragrances I still consider myself a newbie but I see myself going more towards artistic fragrances that smell great rather than ones that just smell great. I really appreciate the fact that this uses simple notes but the creativity shines through. The article mentions a “duality between warm and cool notes” and how it “dances off the skin”. I love artistry and creativity so this would be right in my wheelhouse. I haven’t tried any from this house as of yet but looking forward to exploring it soon.

Hello from Florida, and thank you to Karl for the review! Bohemian Infusion sounds refreshing and dreamy — I’m especially intrigued by the notes of longoza and Ambrostar (which seems to be a captive molecule). Would love to give it a try.

  • The only Thameen London I’ve smelled is Carved Oud , and it’s just great. To my knowledge the house most popular fragrance , at least on social media . Of course I know Christopher Chong for his previous work with Amouage.
Bohemian Infusion feels so upscale , and refined. I like the grapefruit , ginger and cardamom cozy and inviting embrace, and the retro charm. Judging by Christopher Chong work with Amouage, Alexandra Carlin creativity, and affirmed by Karl Topham review , sure enough Bohemian Infusion is special , I’m thrilled
    Thanks for the draw

  • Thameen Bohemian Infusion sounds like an interesting composition with its focus on the duality between warm and cool tones and the interplay between opposites. The fruits and warm spices are complemented by the herbs and supported by amber, ambroxan and labdanum. It sounds exceptionally well blended. I’m in the US.

  • I’m really impressed! Karl’s review has piqued my interest, especially with the emphasis on the contrasting elements in the fragrance. I have a fondness for scents that combine warm and cool tones, as it creates a captivating dynamic. Fragrances like Maitre Parfumeur Et Gantier Ambre Precieux and Paloma Picasso Minotaure have successfully achieved this effect. Karl mentioned that this fragrance pays homage to dandyism, and the idea of refined excess truly excites me. I can envision wearing it to a formal cocktail party with colleagues or while leisurely relaxing in a smoking jacket, savoring a sidecar. Either way, I’m confident I would be the best-smelling gentleman in the room. All jokes aside, this fragrance seems like a definite winner, and I’m eager to experience it firsthand. I haven’t had the opportunity to try any of Thameen’s releases since Mr. Chong joined the company, so I’m particularly excited to explore his new creations. Among the fragrances from the pre-Chong era, Carved Oud and Cullinan Diamond were probably my favorites. Wishing everyone the best of luck.

  • I am a huge fan of Thameen London, being Carved Oud my favorite one yet.
Karl did a fantastic job here showing Bohemian Infusion Cologne Elixir, which totally looks like a bomb.
I love that it has herbaceous notes and the patchouli is always amazing to have in a perfume. I also love the duality of warm and cool notes, just mind blowing.

  • I would love to try this dandy creation from the house of Thameen London which includes the duality of warm and cool tones with a sparkling yet retro feel per the description included. My favorite from the house is currently Carved Oud. USA/KY.

  • Great review, Karl. As you initially described the structure of Thameen Bohemian Infusion I thought this sounds like a fragrance that uses some tried-and-true notes everyone will enjoy. However, the myrtle and aremisia accord is a surprise; I’m curious how strong their herbaceous qualities are tuned relative to the rest of the structure. Bohemian Infusion’s balance of warm and cool tones sound like a really compelling wear.

I’m in the midwest, USA. I haven’t tried any Thameen London fragrances and would love to try this one. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Outstanding review by Karl for ***Thameen Bohemian Infusion***. I love the appeal and ideal of a fragrance that has the duality of warm and cool tones that entices and intrigues. This sounds like a year round fragrance and possibly a signature scent. Thanks for the giveaway. Greetings and gratitude from the USA.

In my Pastry Chef mind after reading Karl take on Bohemian Infusion, I imagined eating Grapefruit Custard Tarts with Cassis Jam, drinking freshly squeezed grapefruit juice , while on a posh , dress code required luxury picnic in Hyde Park.
I’m not yet familiar with Thameen London fragrances

Thanks for the fun review Karl. Christopher Chong has been doing some interesting things with Thameem.

I love the duality of this fragrance, embodied by the cool and warm aspects. The use of refreshing citruses, paired with aromatic greens and the use of a patchouli not to create a semblance of warmth in the base makes for a really cool fragrance.

THere are some super interesting notes here like logonza and Ambre 83 de Laire, which I have no idea about.

I would certainly love to get a nose on this.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Thameen London is one of the fragrance houses that I am excited to start exploring. I had an opportunity to smell Carved Oud and instantly fell in love and instantly put it on the wishlist.

Now with Bohemian Infusion Karl mentions it embodies the duality of warm and cool tones. That’s something that intrigues me because I love when a fragrance can bring a duality like that. Brings forth a sense of individuality that’s hard to duplicate and when pulled off it can help you stand out yourself. That play on opposites as the fragrance progresses will definitely have heads turning as you are in public.

  • foreverscents says:

Bohemian Infusion sounds like it evokes an interesting period of time and place, that of the dandyism of the early 20th century in London. I like that this fragrance explores duality, the play of opposites. The grapefruit and pettigrain notes sound zesty while the patchouli brings a feeling of warmt.
I haven’t tried anything from Thameen London.
    I live in the USA.

I’m very fond of a lot of the Amouage fragrances which were released when Christopher Chong was their creative director, so I’m interested in trying all of Thameen’s fragrance releases. So far, my favorite from them is “Regent Leather”, but that’s the only one I’ve tried. Karl’s review of Thameen Bohemian Infusion caused me to be very interested in trying it and it gave me a good idea of what the fragrance is like, e.g. when he says: “Thameen Bohemian Infusion is a harmonious composition that celebrates the delightful fusion of aromatic and herbaceous notes. At its heart lie two distinctive botanicals: myrtle and artemisia. Myrtle, with its fresh and invigorating aroma, evokes a sense of vitality, while artemisia lends a herbaceous and green nuance, adding depth and complexity to the fragrance.” I live in the U.S.A.

  • IvanVelikov says:

Quite a surprise to learn about a fragrance inspired by dandyism !! Even though I’m a tailor, I have to say the term is difficult to define, since it depends on the time period, and the country it was popular in. Despite the common belief a dandy is not necessarily someone who’s always dressed up sharp , well groomed and so on , sure it was important, but more importantly it was how you behave, and how much you’re able to leave some unexpected impressions in others with your look, the way you talk and/or act.
Thameen London i usually relate to Royalties , and maybe because I’m a tailor, the way they dress. From Bohemian Infusion i’m expecting craftsmanship , and a classy aroma. The balance between the grapefruit, spices and patchouli i find stylish.
My favorite Thameen fragrance is Carved Oud

Since I’ve sampled the fragrance, I can say Karl Topham did a fine job depicting Bohemian Infusion ,te nostalgic feel , masculine energy , and retro charm are all there
I believe it’s a stunning composition, quite courageous too. In the opening, and through the whole time I perceive .. not sure if it’s a hidden note, but something like camphor , which blends very well with the grapefruit and the cardamom. Karl called the patchouli used by Maurice Roucel and Alexandra Carlin robust , I would call it earthy and rooty. Bohemian Infusion is so well done , I’m thrilled .
Royal Sapphire I’m a fan , my favorite Thameen London
