Teo Cabanel Peau Salée Review (Patrice Revillard) 2022 + summer fashion meets fragrance giveaway

Teo Cabanel Peau Salée

Teo Cabanel Peau Salée by Olya Bar

Uncomplicated. Summer. Cool.  That’s  how I describe Teo Cabanel Peau Salée, a new fragrance created in collaboration with MODETROTTER and composed by Patrice Revillard. The partnership is a union of approachable and modern fragrances with a Parisian fashion brand that breaks from traditional style codes, creating clothes that fit the contemporary lifestyle without limits and misconceptions. Teo Cabanel Peau Salée was born from the desire of Marie Courroy, founder of MODETROTTER, to capture the sun, the salt, the sea, and holiday memories in a bottle. I have written about Teo Cabanel perfumes over the past few years because I adore the relaxed, free-spirited approach the house takes when creating fragrances. Every new release is effortless to wear and always captures the most memorable moments that are universally easy to relate to. Easy. Modern. Well-tailored.

Like a simple summer dress silhouette made out of naturally breathable fabric, Teo Cabanel’s Peau Salée reflects the careless “feel good” summer memory. It’s the run through the sandy dunes as soon as you step into the summer house and throw your shoes off. It’s a feeling of the ocean waves gently washing away the worries of busy city life. It’s salt on your skin in the sun, wet hair full of sand. A comforting scent of the beach house you have been coming to every summer in the Hamptons since you were a kid. The sunscreen’s familiar trajectory of coconut warmth on bronzed skin, a touch of saltiness from spending all day splashing in the ocean, and a soft floral bouquet lingering nearby.

When I think of summer in New York, I always crave the soft mineral whiff of Long Island, the anticipation of getting out of town and driving towards the lighthouses Montauk is populated with. I think of a small beach house filled with light, perched high above the sand dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The proximity to the salty ocean makes the whole house smell of driftwood. That’s where Peau Salee by Teo Cabanel transports me to, capturing the  longing for summer you can dip into amid gray days of winter, the idea of fragrance for “salty skin” all year round.

perfumes that smell like the beach

Peau Salée starts off with a splash of coconut with salty undertones. You won’t get a fleshy, creamy coconut here. This is a refreshing sip of cold coconut water to quench your thirst on the beach. The floral creaminess and warmth unfold as you get to the heart of frangipani and jasmine. This tropical union is toned down with the minerality of the base and the composition isn’t overwhelmed by frangipani, which usually tend to take over. It retains an airy attitude throughout without ever weighing down on you. The base is structured with a slightly nutty cream of tonka and smells like skin after a long summer day with a trace of suntan lotion. Transparency. Modernity. Simplicity. These three words come to mind when it comes to Peau Salée.

Notes: Coconut water, Fleur de sel, Frangipani, Jasmine, Driftwood, Tonka cream, Mineral notes

The perfume was kindly gifted to me but opinions are always my own.

  • Love all Teo Cabanel Fragrances. I do have CA BOUM such a wonderful Summertime Fragrance. Peau Salee sounds just as beautiful. Lovely review by Olya. Thank you for this Chance USA

  • How beautiful the review is and how unique it is really appealed to me about Olya’s review. This review is something magical. I love it. I live in Poland, EU. I don’t have a favorite Teo Cabonel perfume because I never tried this brand but I would really love to.

  • This sounds so charming! I love it when tropical / coconut fragrances manage to steer away from super sweet, cloying, sunscreen overload territory. The fact Peau Salee manages to stay supple and airy truly makes it sound like a winner for me.

Coconut, driftwood and mineral notes all jumped out at me. I can imagine they play nicely off of one another.

  • I love coconut and I am curious about this perfume. I have not tried anything from Teo Cabanel but Peau Salée looks like a great starting point.
    Thank you! Europe

  • What I found appealing was the listed notes of Fleur de sel, mineral notes and driftwood. I don’t have a favorite Teo Cabonel. US

  • I love a salty summer fragrance and the combination with airy florals just seems perfect! I haven’t had a chance to try any Teo Cabanel fragrances yet but I’d love to try this one. I’m in the US.

  • Interesting how Olya mentioned this fragrance as therapeutic “It’s a feeling of the ocean waves gently washing away the worries of busy city life”

Love the brand Cabanel, here in Italy I haven’t yet found this new creation to try but I’m very interested in the mixed notes which usually I don’t like. Salty Fragrances are not my jam but everyone is raving about this, so it must be good. Love also the collaboration with the fashion brand modetrotter, love that two of my favorite passions collide in this creation. Greetings from Italy

what a beautifully written review! the fact that olya describes this fragrance as having a note of “cold coconut water” rather than fleshy, creamy coconut intrigues me and appeals to me as someone who loves coconut water much more than its flesh or milk (as food, and so i suspect as scent as well). i’m located in CA, USA.

  • I love Olya’s New York vibe of the review. I recently visited NYC, but didn’t have a change to go to Hamptons yet. Too Cabanel is one of my favorite houses and I love several of their fragrances. I was very happy to read more about Peau Salee because this is right up my alley. I love coconut, salty, vacation in a bottle fragrances. They were a soft spot for me my whole life. I also like that Olya mentioned mineral notes in this one as well as nutty tonka base. I’m from Illinois, US.

  • Constancesuze says:

I’m a big fan of the summer season and trips to the beach. I’ve never been to the Hamptons but I do love a day trip to Rockaway, washing the sand out of my hair, playing in the waves and lounging on a towel. This sounds gorgeous, summery, and like an easy to reach for pleasure.
    I’m in the US.

  • “Transparency. Modernity. Simplicity.” Sounds great, great review. I have not tried anything from Teo Cabanel. NV, USA.

  • For those of us born near the ocean but now land-locked, ocean in a bottle is an absolute necessity! I need a sea whiff on a regular basis. Olya’s words transport me right back to the beach! The sight and sound of which always soothes my soul. I’m in the USA, thank you!

  • Love all the photos in this review! Summer is my favorite season and I can’t help but crave a good coconut scent. My favorite part of the review was the part about the smell of the beach house, with the smell of the saltiness from the ocean and the sunscreen lingering from skin. I am from the coast of New England, USA.

  • Nice review Olya! Thank you for introducing to us a careless “feel good” summer memory in the form of a perfume! Teo Cabanel’s Peau Salée seems a perfect match for this torrid summer we are suffering in south Europe. Capturing capture the sun, the salt, the sea and putting in a flaçon in the way Patrice Revillard does it is so great! the use of the coconut water on its savory side is a great idea, not the typical sweet and creamy one. Frangipani for me is the summer beach flower so I love it, specially when doesn´t overwhelm the composition as in here. Your three final words “Transparency, Modernity and Simplicity” are the best compliment this scent could get. I tried “Je Ne Sais Quoi” and I loved the green side of it with mate and matcha. I live in Spain, EU.

  • Olya Bar’s review of Teo Cabanel Peau Salée makes me want to go to the beach – the pictures in this review as well as description of relaxing summer days at the beach, with ozonic, mineral, coconut, driftwood smells and the feel; of warm, moist air on the beach are very tempting indeed. If a perfume can create that feeling for a vicarious trip to the beach, I would love to try that especially if physically going to the beach is not possible. I haven’t tried this brand, so no favorites, yet. Thanks for a lovely review and draw. From USA.

  • Peau Salée
Now this sound perfect for the heat here and this weekend I am going to the Jersey shore. I can’t wait
Cafe cabanel is my favorite but this sounds awesome

  • patrick_348 says:

I liked the distinction Olya made between the aroma of coconut water and that of the fleshy, fatty part. She describes Peau Salee in a way that makes it sound like a perfect balance of lightness countered with the weight of some saltiness and moisturizing creaminess (not to mention the driftwood note). I live in the US, in North Carolina.

  • lavienrose13 says:

Everything I read on Peau Salée is quite intriguing … I really wonder if the skin effect is there. And not too much coconut …
Thanks for the review, from France

  • GennyLeigh says:

I find salty beach scents invigorating. The fleur de sel, driftwood and mineral notes get a tropical flair with the coconut water, jasmine and frangipani. I’ve not encountered tonka cream before but it sounds like it would be great in a frozen drink. Unfortunately, I’ve not had the opportunity to try any Teo Cabanel scents. MD, USA.

  • I think everyone who loves the sea needs to have a fragrance that captures the sun, the sea with its salt and the long summer days in their collection. I know I do!
I am in the EU. Thanks for the review and the giveaway.

  • Olya’s description of the image Peau Salée renders in her mind is an absolute summer dream. I’m a big fan of salty, sea & ocean inspired fragrances, and this one makes me even more curious to ‘taste’ it, since it comes from the Cabanel brand, which I think it produces exquisiteness in bottles. so far, my favourite is Oha, although I thing it is way too elegant for me :).
    living in EU.

  • Yum! I have loved all of Patrice Revillards’ fragrances that I have tried, and I can’t wait to try this one! I was especially intrigued by your description of cold, refreshing coconut water. Thank you for the review, writing from the EU.

  • So many great effortless summer perfumes lately on the Cafleurebon page! This one sounds especially delightful to throw on after a day at the sea with the still salty hair for a barefoot evening drink!
    I’m in eu

  • NituNicolae says:

I own Et Voila from Teo Cabanel, and I have to admit, they do astounding clean bright fragrances. This is no exception! excited for the giveaway, great review. EU

  • goldenswan says:

what appealed to you about Olya’s review and where you live. Do you have a favorite Teo Cabonel fragrance?

Olya’s review describes a great summer scent, like I’m already at the beach and breathing in the summer. I’m in the USA. I haven’t tried her fragrances, but Café Cabanel sounds very nice.

  • Liberation says:

Coconut water and salty skin sound like a nice combination and a way to transport yourself to a sandy summer beach with green-blue color of the sea. I don’t have a favorite Teo Cabanel fragrance, but I hope to get a chance to experience this one. Greetings from Austria, EU

  • Everything about the review appealed to me: a scent that gives you nostalgia for the carefree feeling you get at the beach sounds so good. I have realized lately that I really enjoy a salt note in perfume. I live in Tx and I have not tried Teo Cabanel yet.

  • wandering_nose says:

Thank you for this relaxed breath of salty air Olya! There are some amazing summery and beachy perfumes in the niche world but Peau Salée steals my heart with its simplicity. I like that the coconut here is not of the fleshy, creamy kind and that the frangipani does not take over. I haven’t tried any of Teo Cabanel perfumes but need to say the brand’s concept of capturing universally relatable experiences in an approachable and easy-going way appeals to me big time. I am based in the EU

  • There’s something uniquely delightful about a perfume that smells like time sunning on the beach, gazing out over hot sand and endless blue horizon, colorful and a bit faded like childhood vacation photos. Peau Salée sounds like that kind of fragrance, with an emphasis on the salty skin and mineral air of seaside leisure. The coconut and floral layers are a smart counter to driftwood and mineral notes, and I’m very curious how they all smell together. Thanks for the fun review Olya! Your sandy photos of the bottle and presentation are terrific.

I’m in the midwest, USA. Cheers! I haven’t tried any Teo Cabonel fragrances.

  • Michael Prince says:

What interests me about Olya’s review of Teo Cabanel Peau Salée is learning how this fragrance was inspired by Marie Courroy, founder of MODETROTTER, to capture the sun, the salt, the sea, and holiday memories in a bottle who collaborated with perfumer Patrice Revillard. This was a free spirited and summer inspired fragrance that sounds wonderful. My favorite Teo Cabanel fragrance is Cafe Cabanel. I am from the USA.

  • pau.nguyen says:

What appealed to me is the idea of salty skin year round. While this summer screams fragrance to me, I’m someone who likes to smell sunnery things during the winter and this fragrance sounds right up my wheelhouse. I have not tried any Teo Cabonel fragrances yet but this seems like a good opportunity to try. I’m located in Colorado

  • I’m really loving the salty aspect of many newer summer scents. Teo Cabal has been on my list of houses I wish to try. This sounds like the perfect introduction. In maryland.

  • foreverscents says:

I love wearing uncomplicated summer fragrances all year long, especially if they have coconut and jasmine. I enjoyed reading Olya’s description of a beach day at Montauk out on Long Island. What a refreshing relief from the sweltering city.
I haven’t tried anything from Teo Cabonel, but I like the effortless wearability of the brand.
    I live in the USA.

  • Regis Monkton says:

I’ve heard of Teo Cabanel but I haven’t tried anything from them yet. I’d like to try this fragrance because I want to see if it reminds me of the sensation I get when I’m about to enter a beach. I live in the U.S.A.

  • According to Olya, this reflects the careless feel good summer memory. Peau Salee sounds like it captures true summer vibes with notes of coconut, white florals and salty undertones. Seems like a light fragrance that doesn’t weigh you down.
    Maryland, US.
