In 2007 the fragrance company Mane released a fragrance under their own imprimatur called Yu (Mandarin Chinese for rain). It was a limited edition of 500 bottles for an eye-popping $5,000. I finally was able to get a small sample of Mane Yu to try for myself. What I found was a fragrance more interesting for the pieces instead of the whole.
Certainly, the physical grace and nuanced performances of Berenice Bejo and Jean Dujardin, in the 2012 Academy Award winner for best picture ‘The Artist’, made it easy to imagine a signature fragrance for their characters. As Peppy and George moved across the screen effortlessly, I felt as if I could almost smell their sillage. The two have sweetly left an impression on my fragrance subconscious.
Eau Rose lasts from morning until evening and has average sillage.
Eau Rose is a study in simplicity which reminds me of a lesson from my youth in the rose garden. Sometimes you just need to stop and smell the roses. In lieu of a rose garden Eau Rose will do just fine.
Spring is greeted in many ways around the world. One of the most joyous and definitely the most colorful is the Hindu celebration of HOLI. KENZO house released a limited edition flanker of their scent Amour. Created jointly by Olivier Cresp and Daphne Bugey, Indian Holi was timed to be released with that year’s celebration worldwide.

I wanted to talk to the creative director of Tommi Sooni, Steven Broadhurst, to find out what it’s like to create perfume Down Under.
As many parfumistas know, Bond No.9 is a company dedicated to immortalizing all parts of New York City in perfumes. Many of the perfumes released by Bond concentrate on more upscale neighborhoods and midtown locations but some of my personal favorites are from locations that pay tribute to places “downtown”.
