Strada Parfumerie Via Veneto

Strada Parfumerie – Via Veneto at night via Instagram

Inside each bottle there’s history, style and pleasure. Setting foot on Via Veneto is being a witness to grandiosity; one who wishes to replicate that infatuation must smell Via Veneto” –– A note from the brand.

Strada parfumerie Via veneto review

Still from La Dolce Vita Directed by Federico Fellini

Via Veneto is the famously chic and high-end shopping street in Rome. You may recognise it in scenes from Fellini’s Dolce Vita. You may have been there already, or you may, like me, simply wish with your eyes closed that you could be there in happier, more carefree times. Enter stage left, Strada Parfumerie Via Veneto. Step onto this olfactory magic carpet and you’ll find yourself whisked to Rome in a heartbeat. There is a unique smell to wealth, in the same way as there is a unique smell to expensive car showrooms. It is the scent of the unsullied, the unstained and the unruffled. Living a life that is the antithesis of this, makes Via Veneto the scent of my fantasies.  Strada Parfumerie Via Veneto is the hushed presence of luxury. It is the scent of a woman who looks as if she could model Dior’s New Look. A woman in a bubble of privilege, yet so elegant you cannot help but gaze at her, as she glides past, like an urban angel, leaving a scent so beautiful in her wake, that you want to follow her and ask for its name.

Strada Parfumerie Via veneto review

Anouk Aimee in La Dolce Vita

The very first time I sprayed Via Veneto; I knew there was iris here. It is the perfect introduction to Via Veneto. Why? Because iris is elegant. My olfactory mnemonic for iris is the scent of unaffordable dove grey suede. It may be custom made car seats, it may be hand stitched gloves, but it is the scent of understated luxury.  Alongside a classy touch of musk, it also adds the faintest dusting of powdery notes and somehow, the scent of pearls too.  The huge and welcome wave of tuberose that follows is music to my nose and brings to mind the almost exaggerated femininity of Anouk Aimee and Anita Ekberg, rocking cats eye sunglasses or dancing in fountains.

Anita Ekberg in La Dolce Vita Trevi Fountain scene and colorized by Michelyn

La Dolce Vita was a 1960 hit film and the classicism of the florals in Strada Parfumerie Via Veneto harks back to a time when perfume lived in crystal atomisers on dressing tables. The chorus of white flowers has glamorous backing singers with the addition of jasmine and neroli, now an unbeatably harmonious trio that dances in your wake.  As afternoon turns to dusk, a dustier, more enigmatic version emerges into the gloaming. Patchouli gives a provocative nod whilst myrrh, ginger and amber cast their alluring spell on all who swoon in your wake. Via Veneto, both literally and metaphorically, is a mixture of the old and the new. Grand buildings and pillars look down upon the modern whisper of wealth in the street below, whilst the fountains that once saw Anita Ekberg strut her stuff remind us that respectability is a coin with a playful side too.  It’s a long time since a fragrance has made me feel this glamorous, but with Strada Parfumerie Via Veneto, I can play dress up and, in my dreams, can frolic in fountains like Anita and pose in bars like Anouk. Via Veneto is not just a dressing up box, but a magic wand.  Oh, for La Dolce Vita…especially now. Especially as summer 2020 kisses us good night.

Notes: Iris, jasmine, neroli, rose, ginger, musk, tuberose, myrrh, clary sage, amber, woody notes, patchouli, nagarmotha

  • Samantha says Via Veneto reminds her of La Dolce Vita movie. It has a great iris perfume and later reveals its grey suedy side. USA

  • Samantha’s review of this fragrance was quite intriguing and very informative. I really enjoyed hearing about the creative process and the beautiful notes that went into this amazing sounding fragrance. I’ve never tried anything from this house before but I’d love to. Thanks for the great review and the great giveaway. Commenting from Kentucky USA.

  • I have been scoping this brand out as if love to purchase the 5th ave scent. I love the review and the idea of scents resembling streets/locations and that aura
Please update point of sale for the US if available

  • Via Veneto smells of luxury, as Samantha so elegantly put it via pictures and words. The collection of notes says it all: Iris, jasmine, neroli, rose, ginger, musk, tuberose, myrrh, clary sage, amber, woody notes, patchouli, nagarmotha. Except for the unfamiliar last note, everything else seems so delightful – maybe nagarmotha is too – I am just not familiar with it. The vivid imagery created of Rome through the movie La Dolce Vita was very effective. Thanks for the draw and the review. Writing from the USA.

  • Liked the details and history of the movie dolce vita which was very cool. Also liked the parallel drawn to the magic wand. Who doesn’t need a magic wand or what it symbolizes! I hadn’t heard of this brand before. Definitely on my radar now. Based in the US

  • Who would not love to wear a perfume that screams “sweet life”?
I saw the movie many years ago, but I still remember the posh actors and that luxurious lifestyle. Surely they would have enjoyed this perfume.
    Thanks for the draw! EU

  • I enjoyed the description and imagery. I didn’t hear of this particular house until this article. I look forward to experiencing both the old and the new. US

  • What a review. It transported me to Italy in an instance. Old and glamorous or new, Italy will always be beautiful and amazing. I was reading the review almost feeling the perfume that was described but also yearning for my next trip to Italy. I currently live in Illinois.

  • The comparison to the La Dolce Vita movie is a great comparison. I’m interested in this fragrance as I am not familiar with nagarmotha and would love to observe how it smells and how it builds upon the other notes of the scent. USA

  • Via Veneto sounds like a luxurious classic perfume. I adore myrrh in fragrances and am curious about the nagarmotha note. Thanks for introducing this brand to me. Mich USA

  • I’m a collector of vintage perfume and love to see a return to elegance in fragrance. Iris, powder and pearls with a touch of white flowers and patchouli sound like a wonderful nod to La Dolce Vita. The bottle is gorgeous too! Commenting from USA.

  • Alejandra Guevara says:

Iris painted in dove grey to start, with an explosion of vintagy white flowers- H E A V E N. Heaven in a bottle. Smells like the epitome of glamour- I AM WOMAN.

  • Alejandra Guevara says:

Anything that bears the words “exagerated femininity” and that contains iris and tuberose sounds like a pool I’s be ok drowning in!! USA

  • Thank you for the review! I enjoyed the comparisons to old classic films. I am a fan of Christian Carbonnel, so this should be a great fragrance. From Canada

  • Veneto is not just a dressing up box, but a magic wand. Oh, for La Dolce Vita…especially now. Especially as summer 2020 kisses us good night.

Notes: Iris, jasmine, neroli, rose, ginger, musk, tuberose, myrrh, clary sage, amber, woody notes, patchouli, nagarmotha. A, beautiful description by Samantha intrigued by the notes especially Rose, Patchouli, iris, tuberose and musk. This sounds like an opulent and regal fragrance fit for a queen. Thanks a lot from the UK

I love how in-depth Samantha’s review is. Every note listed covered me from head to toe. I live in Boston Massachusetts USA and I would be beyond honored to have a chance at winning this gem. Good luck all!

  • I loves her description of the perfume as it changes throughout and the pictures she painted of glamor and wealth. I also found the concept of creating these perfumes after famous luxury destinations really different and intriguing. I live in the U.S. Thanks so much for this wonderful and generous draw.

  • What I enjoyed most about Samantha’s review was the parallels drawn to old Hollywood and how her language and expressions while writing the review echoed that , it was an engaging and immersive experience.

    I’m from Ireland

  • I love how Samantha describes what the notes make her think about; I find it very intriguing and I like that this fragrance has the power to envoke memories of La Dolce Vida. Kind regards from Illinois, USA.

  • Reading about the iris note has hooked me in plus it’s so miserable right now some dolce vita lift would be welcomed. I am in U.K.

  • Having been on the Via Veneto many years ago, this description brings me back as do the references to La Dolce Vita. Samantha says it all, ” It’s a long time since a fragrance has made me feel this glamorous, but with Strada Parfumerie Via Veneto, I can play dress up and, in my dreams, can frolic in fountains like Anita and pose in bars like Anouk. Via Veneto is not just a dressing up box, but a magic wand.” Who wouldn’t want that. Thank you for this lovely review and thanks to Strada Parfumerie for this awesome draw. I’m in the USA

  • My, this sounds like a treat. Such a sumptuous and self assured white flowers, touched by the sparkly elegance of iris and drying down in myrrh and patchouli…and ginger? I feel ginger is quite an underrated note and I am so happy to see it included in perfumes more and more nowadays.
I loved Samantha’s description, as well as the inspiration this article and the perfume itself drew from Rome. Roma, città eterna…
    I’m in the EU.

  • …This review push me back in the ’90 s, when CD – Dolce Vita was on everybody’s lips and 1 of 5 women wore it…love the way Samantha describes the conection between Fellini’s movie and the perfume composition…combine with feelings and attitude of the bearer…regards from UE

  • Bring on the ginger, sage and woods, this sounds like a delight. I was impressed by the verbiage of Samantha’s quip: “My olfactory mnemonic for iris is the scent of unaffordable dove grey suede” – wow, I could almost feel that in my soul. Yes please sign me up.

  • So much resonated with me when after reading about this fragrance, but especially the Via Veneto inspiration and iris as a protagonist note. I enjoyed Samantha’s comparison of iris to dove grey suede as understated luxury and the references to La Dolce Vita. Writing from the USA.

  • doveskylark says:

I haven’t felt glamorous in many, many months. Just reading Samantha’s review brought back all my memories of visiting Rome and feeling so alive (and, yes, glamorous) walking the Roman streets without any worries. Samantha’s review also reminded me of how much I like Italian cinema. It’s time to watch “La Dolce Vita.” Oh, the sweet life….

I love reading about your olfactory mnemonic for iris as the scent of unaffordable dove grey suede. Something about that is so relatable. This fragrance sounds like the antithesis of 2020, beautiful, classy, luxurious. All of the notes sounds beautiful to me and I’d love to try this one. Thank you for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • I’ve always wanted to be Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast in Tiffany’s while being more like her in Holiday in Rome… so Samantha makes this fragrance sound like a dream: feeling like a Femme Fatale on the Via Veneto while actually riding a white Vespa with a quirky little neck scarve.
    Wonderful… Marit in the UK

I liked Samantha’s evocation of Fellini and the era of LA DOLCE VITA. It’s listed as unisex, so I am hoping it will make me smell like Marcello Mastroianni. I live in the US, in North Carolina.

  • I like the cool and elegant smell of iris, but not when the powdery aspect is amped up. So the rest of the florals and how they open up in this review really make this perfume sound so fabulous to me. I live in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • I like the film and cultural references in her review. I live in the United states. Thank you for the drawing

  • This review brought back wonderful memories of a trip to Rome, when I strolled down this same street. I definitely agree that there is a juxtaposition between old world beauty and modern luxury in Rome. I personally find it breathtaking. Would love to try this fragrance, and am especially interested in how the myrrh and ginger notes contribute. From NJ, USA.

  • It features some great notes and I would definitely love to try it since it has connections with La Dolce Vita.
    I am in EU, thanks!

  • I enjoyed Samantha’s comparison to the Trevi fountain scene in La Dolce Vita – it made it easy to envisage the time, place and person that this scent conjours up. I am in the UK. Thanks for the giveaway!

Oh glorious glamour – thank you Samantha for such a wonderful review and transporting me – for just a few moments – to a time to which I belong. A time of powdered necklines, truly feminine fragrances, gorgeous gowns…and romance. La Dolce Vita is a feeling, not just a film. And thank you Strada Parfumerie for an incredibly generous prize – Via Veneto suits my need for that intensely womanly style of a wonderful era! I live in Australia.
