Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta Review (Margaux Le Paih-Guérin) 2025 + here comes trouble giveaway

Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta review

It’s no secret that I binge-wear my favourite perfumes from the cinematic universe of Sarah Baker. From Twin Peaks nostalgia to smoky film noirs and from glossy rom-coms to sun-drenched road movies, she’s got it all, and I wouldn’t miss a premiere for the world.

It’s hard to play favourites here, as every single one deserves a click on the “add to test wishlist” button, but I have to mention the recent peachy-hued romantic comedy of Pastel Rumours that played on repeat on my skin all summer long – a.k.a. the Vespa ride in slow motion, under skies filtered through a pink milkshake, and the Technicolor fruit thriller Peach’s Revenge – a sugar-rush crime of passion with a side of guava mystery that is NOT as light-hearted as one might think. My olfactive roleplaying wardrobe is richer because of my beloved autumnal James Bond-esque Tartan Cask, all smoke, leather, and brooding highlands an my life-long tuberose love affair has gained a new spark thanks to Flame and Fortune, the Thelma & Louise-esque speed chase, all wild hair, dust clouds, car keys still in the ignition, mescal bottle rolling somewhere under the passenger seat.

Unboxing a Sarah Baker fragrance is always a treat. From the perforated pull-tab on the outer sleeve that makes my Pavlovian reflexes wag their tail, to the tactile weight of that glossy orange cap, it’s a full-on sensory experience. It makes me wish I had long, pointy aesthetic nails just to do an ASMR tap-open for the delicious drama of it all. But this autumn a new vanilla chapter begins (that is anything BUT… vanilla, ahem!). Saddle up for a new take on some delicious cinematic drama, because we’re stepping into the western chapter of the saga and the air smells like gun powder and trouble. Someone just kicked open the saloon doors… and enter Velvet Vendetta – the most seductive outlaw to ever ride the vanilla plains. And she’s smooookin’ hot!

Margaux LE PAIH-GUÉRIN perfumer

And who better than Margaux Le Paih-Guérin of Flair Paris to cast the best ingredients in this new showdown? A visual thinker with a painter’s instinct, she infuses texture and light into her art, making her creations fluid, instinctive and deliciously unpredictable. Her love for contrasts and raw sensuality runs deep, and you can feel it here in full untamed & dangerous glory.

The idea behind Velvet Vendetta was to dive deep into a dark, sensual, animalic vanilla, as if it were born in the Nevada desert at the end ofthe 19th century. The goal was to take people on a journey through a haze of tobacco ,bourbon, and smoke. Raw, untamed, and yet undeniably sexy. Go wild!” (Perfumer’s Notes)

Smoke& silence: Gunsmoke, Pink Pepper, Nutmeg, Dried Fruits

There’s a certain silence that belongs only to Western opening scenes: zooming in on those leather boots that lift the dust into the air, the wind sweeping across the empty road, the lonely tumbleweed drifting by, the half-broken sign creaking as it hits the pole as our hero enters the city. He raises the gun to the sky and fires, just to see if anything stirs around. The air thickens, smoky and tense, as the saloon doors swing open. Pull up a high chair, lean over the bar, grab a handful of honeyed dried fruits. The hat comes off, and a cascade of copper-red hair spills over her shoulders.

What does a girl need to do – shoot somebody? – to get a drink and some snacks?” she smirks.

The Showdown: Forbidden Vanilla, Bourbon, Black Olive

The bartender pours without a word. A bowl of black olives and some salty crackers slide across the counter. She smiles “uuu, fancy, fancy” baring her teeth as she laughs. “Did I scare you, old boy?” She takes her bourbon neat, double – the kind that burns going down and doesn’t numb you, just makes you feel more alive for the pain.

She shrugs off her jacket, and her perfume slowly claims the room. She smells a bit sweet – but not the kind of sweet you bring home to meet your mother and bake cookies together. Forbidden vanilla. The shadow twin of everything you think you know: dark, narcotic, sensual, with the kind of subversive sweetness that makes respectable people confess their sins. And then sin again. And again. Think of a vanilla that’s been aged in old barrels, steeped in smoke, and hidden in dark places beneath dusty floors, with a feral, salty edge that keeps everything tense.

A cigarette’s red light burns in the darkness of the corner, and a long shadow comes to greet her, drawing near.

You know, I’m not just passing through your town” she says. “I’m here for someone… something I encountered many years ago, in the desert. And I’ve got all the time in the world to wait.”

Roll credits: Tobacco, deadwood, molasses, resins, black vanilla

Days later – or maybe weeks; for as we know, time moves differently in westerns – she’s out on the balcony, and the sun is setting. Tobacco smoke curls lazily from her hand-rolled cigarette, contemplative and thick. The night’s blue begins to slowly swallow the red line of the horizon, right where the desert ends and the air is thick with the scent of sun-bleached wood, the bones of trees that once stood tall, now markers of time’s indifferent march. Somewhere down the road, a church bell tolls once, and incense rises into the cooling air, resinous, amber-warm, like the promise of redemption you never asked for, but that somehow found its way back to you.

That’s when she feels it: that familiar weight in the air, heavier than smoke. He’s here, growing out of the shadows of the room behind her. The same presence she felt in the desert – the one she’s been chasing ever since. The one that left its mark on her skin and grew in her memory, with claws and teeth, until there was no other escape but to return and look for it again.

She doesn’t turn. She just exhales his scent wrapping around her. Black vanilla. The incense of a desert church. Warm molasses. Strange resins. Animalic and feral, yet so deeply human.

“Took you long enough” she whispers.

I love vanillas. I love them in all the forms they come, from the sweet and fluffy to the dark and smoky. The syrupy, the toasted, the leathery, the indecent – they’re all on my shelves, all fighting for attention. This autumn, though, Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta has them all silent, trembling in the corner of my shelf. Because this is one vanilla you don’t mess with! This is complex, weathered, touched by smoke and time and maybe by something a little dangerous, too. This is vanilla that’s seen things. Done things. Survived to tell the tale.

Margaux Le Paih-Guérin has composed a full cinematic arc – with character development, plot twists, and an architecture that feels alive on the skin, on each wear. There’s humor, danger, sensuality and that unmistakable Sarah Baker touch running through it all: playful, bold, sleek, artistic, self-aware, a little wicked, and always dressed & picture perfect for the close-up.

Did I mention I love it? I do. I do, do, do, do!

Warning: May cause sudden urges to kick open doors dramatically, speak in gravelly one-liners, and dramatically raise your eyebrow when you flirt.

In three words: Rugged, gunslinger, velveteen

Top: Gunsmoke, pink pepper, nutmeg, dried fruits; Heart: Forbidden vanilla, Bourbon, black olive; Base: Tobacco, deadwood, molasses, resins, black vanilla

  • Gunpowder is one of my favourite notes!
It can shine in so many ways…
This new release is top 3 on my wishlist.
Best luck to everyone from Germany!

  • Velvet Vendetta stands out from other Interpretations of vanilla scents. It is a distinct, timeworn, dark, sensual, an animalic vanilla that has been aged in old, smoky barrels hidden away to be discovered by chance but it still smooth.
It evokes a seductive, saloon femme fatale gunslinger, whose sweetness is tinged with a little danger—who wades through a mysterious haze of smoky tobacco and bourbon while packing heat. Velvet Vendetta gives vibes of the O.K. carrel with its western kick and twang. At its heart, it is raw, a little bit dangerous, wild and untamed like the wild west.

  • The melange of notes in Velvet Vendetta really dots the “i” in “i need this” 😀 I love vanilla in all shapes and forms, and gunpoeder, tobacco, bourbon and raisins are promise land material to my senses. The way in which Nicoleta has weaved this review only amplifies my desire to indulge in this fine piece of olfactive artistry.

Thanks for the giveaway ! Based in Romania

  • Brad Woolslayer says:

This one sounds like a vanilla based fragrance that will bring out the inner gunslinger inside of me. I have never tried a Sarah Baker fragrance, but this seems like a house that will really get me excited this fall and winter. I live in Maryland USA.

  • The whole vibe of a rough smoky vanilla with bourbon and tobacco sounds amazing. I love vanillas that aren’t soft or sugary, like Lune Feline, and this one seems like it has a real attitude to it. I’m really curious to smell how that darker vanilla mixes with the smoke and dried fruits. I’m in the EU, Croatia.

  • Sorohan Adriana says:

From Sarah Baker I love tuberose from Flame & Fortune and from Charade. I love vanilla in perfums too. I am from EU

  • I have a major crush on Margaux, and have to smell everything she makes.

“May cause sudden urges to kick open doors dramatically” is what I want my perfume to do for me. Kidding. I already do that but can at least blame it on VV.

    I’m in the US.

  • Ramses Perez says:

Vanilla is my favorite note in fragrances.like Nicoleta I have an array of different ones (sweet, fluffy, airy, deep) but Velvet Vendetta seems to be the newcomer to end them all. I particularly like it going in the smoky direction since we don’t have many of those. Vanilla is one of those notes I feel goes well with everything so a smoky take on it gives that western, dry feel to the fragrance. Sarah Baker has delved into new territory with the last few releases trying on styles that have never been done by the house and I hope it continues going that way. I know Sarah loves her animalics bur we love our sweet fruity ones too. I’m located in the USA,

  • This one sounds extremely good, i love a good “different” vanilla perfume with that pyramid notes and Nicoleta got me with the perfect description, especially here “This is vanilla that’s seen things. Done things.”. Also if she’s loving it, then i can pretty much see it’s some top notch perfume. Thanks for the chance, i’m in the EU.

  • quixoticcynic says:

The cinematic breakdown of the olfactory evolution here was a delight to read, but I was already on board with ‘smoke’ + vanilla, so I’m now doubly (triply?) intrigued. I live in the US and would love to be entered into the drawing.

  • What instantly sparks my interest is how vividly Nicoleta paints perfume as cinema—you can almost smell the story unfolding frame by frame. The idea of a “dark, sensual, animalic vanilla” born in the Nevada desert feels irresistible, especially when paired with notes of tobacco, bourbon, and resin. I’m drawn to that tension between sweetness and smoke, beauty and grit—it sounds like a fragrance with a real narrative arc, not just a scent but a character entering the scene in slow motion.

  • Wow, Black Olive? I’ve never seen that as a note in perfumer, ever! But this sounds like such an adventure and I do also love vanillas. The smoky dangerous elements in this make it right up my ally and sound like they would cut through the current world of cotton candy vanilla scents so well! I live in the US.

  • GoodBookAndTea says:

Awesome niche style of review on Cafleurebon as usual , this time by Nicoleta Tomsa . She was able to trick my imagination into thinking of watching a western movie , and wearing vanilla fragrance where the sweetness and boldness are perfectly dosed and compounded to alluring leather , tobacco smoke and nutmeg .
Sarah Baker Pastel Velvet Vendetta is dark and moody , dreamy and leathery , mouthwatering and bold, playful and cute – all at once.

Because this is one vanilla you don’t mess with! This is complex, weathered, touched by smoke and time and maybe by something a little dangerous, too.
    – Nicoleta Tomsa
By all means YES to what Nicoleta Tomsa stated , zealous review and one spectacular fragrance like Velvet Vendetta.
Warm thanks to Sarah Baker, Cafleurebon and Nicoleta Tomsa. EU

  • I find the article very informative and i also appreciate learning about Sarah Baker vivid nature and love for everything artistic plus the extra reviews. Well structured fragrance episode by Nicoleta Tomsa, I like the more thoughtful overall experience I just had.
I am a vanilla , leather and tobacco fragrances lover and Velvet Vendetta appeals to me the greatly .I learned about the kinetic pairing of gun smoke , molasses and resins , Velvet Vendetta possesses such a distinct bold essence.
My personal final flourish is the harmony Sarah Baker was able to achieve with the help of perfumer like Margaux Le Paih-Guérin. Nicoleta article appealed to me greatly.
Thank you very much Nicoleta Tomsa, Sarah Baker, Margaux Le Paih-Guérin, Cafleurebon EU

  • Wow, love the visuals on the wild west descriptions. I’m so intrigued by this vanilla, especially the addition of the black olive note (a favorite of mine!). USA

  • fresh_and_clean says:

    Howdies from Germany
I’m very much picky in terms of vanilla and tobacco fragrances , and especially those that combine the two genres.
Nicoleta Tomsa assessment of Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta brought me back to my childhood when grandma used to bake different vanilla desserts , with grandpa’s smoking pipe and drinking bourbon, great times I miss a lot.
I became instantly attracted to the both comforting and untamed smell of Velvet Vendetta , together with carefully selected by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin other deeper and comforting shades like the molasses and smoke. I really like the dance between delicious and daring.
When I buy new niche fragrance the quality should be outstanding, and the with certain level of uniqueness , I’m definitely impressed.
Sum total i love the whole Nicoleta Tomsa read , and I’d also love to win a bottle of Velvet Vendetta
    Thank you

  • Vintage_watches_45 says:

What I just read was not just a refined and detailed read , but some unique 19th century bar in Nevada stories with guilty bourbon , vanilla and molasses pleasures . Now I have the chance of winning on of Sarah Baker cowboy and cowgirl dreams turned into reality , and I’m loving it.
What I enjoyed overall are the different tones of the “Here comes trouble” giveaway since Nicoleta also spoke of Peach’s Revenge, Pastel Rumours , Tartan and Flame and Fortune other than the introduction to Velvet Vendetta, all both grabbed my attention right away .
I love good and adventurous fragrances , finest quality ingredients , and having butterflies in my stomach by riding a motorcycle with leather boots and jacket , Velvet Vendetta is like a medley of all.

    Thanks

  • crownroyale47 says:

What sparks my interest in this fragrance is how the review turns it into a full cinematic moment instead of a typical vanilla scent. Since I already love Sarah Baker Peach Revenge, anything with that same bold personality and storytelling instantly pulls me in. Peach Revenge showed me how she can blend sweetness with drama, so hearing that Velvet Vendetta leans into darker, smoky, lived in vanilla really gets my attention.
I like that it is described as a character with history, confidence, and a little danger. The mix of bourbon warmth, tobacco, dried fruits and that raw, sensual vanilla sounds addictive. I also love the idea of a scent that evolves on the skin the same way Peach Revenge does, always shifting and surprising you.
The whole outlaw vibe, the mood, the grit, the attitude, it all makes me feel like this would fit perfectly next to the Sarah Baker fragrances I already enjoy. I live in the United States – New Jersey.

  • your.solar.engeneer says:

Thank you Nicoleta on describing both Velvet Vendetta
and the other fragrances you chose to present to us , the Cafleurebon readers.
I currently own Gold Spot , another Sarah Baker fragrance made by Chris Maurice , and find Nicoleta’s olfactive description of Margaux Le Paih-Guérin Velvet Vendetta just as delicious and thrilling.
I know I will enjoy the sweetness and tobacco layers , but even more the leather and resins , and the nod to 19th century raw comfort . To celebrate Velvet Vendetta now , I’ll grab a bourbon and a Cuban cigar and sit on my leather couch , as I anxiously await to see if I’m lucky enough to win this dangerous vanilla giveaway
I had a great time, thank you

  • This quote “the goal was to take people on a journey through a haze of tobacco ,bourbon, and smoke. Raw, untamed, and yet undeniably sexy,” wow! I have been on the hunt for a complex, vanilla scent.

As I am a Kentucky girl, I also have soft spot for bourbon and tobacco accords. I used to live very close to the Buffalo Trace Distillery. I could always smell the sour mash in the morning breeze.

The description of this perfume evokes badass female gunslinger to me, think Sharon Stone in the film The Quick and The Dead (1995). I thought her character was so cool in that movie, and i always wondered what perfume a woman like that would wear. I can see where this scent would make you feel confident and capable.

  • Nicoleta’s review is a whole mood. I’m absolutely captivated by the “dark, sensual, animalic vanilla” concept. The idea of a vanilla that’s “forbidden” and not the safe, cookie-baking kind is exactly what I’m searching for. That smoky, western gunslinger vibe combined with the feral, salty edge? Sign me up. I can almost smell the bourbon, tobacco, and that hint of black olive from her description. This sounds like a fragrance with a real story to tell on your skin.

As a huge fan of both vanillas and cinematic perfumery, Velvet Vendetta sounds like a masterpiece. Nicoleta’s storytelling completely sold me I want to experience that entire narrative arc, from the tense opening with gunsmoke and dried fruits to the final, resinous base of “black vanilla” and deadwood. The collaboration with Margaux Le Paih-Guérin is also a huge draw; her love for raw sensuality and contrast seems like a perfect match for Sarah Baker’s bold vision. I’m so intrigued by the “molasses” and “black olive” notes this is anything but a simple vanilla! I am from the EU

  • I am a certified vanilla love. Im always looking for an unusual, New take and I trust Sarah Baker completely with this, the one brand to try on my wish list not available in my country. I want to know all of the plot twists! Review is really intriguing. Im from eu.

  • FragranceFrenzyS says:

I’ll be honest, the “black olive” note made me pause for a second, but the way it’s described here salty, feral, with the bourbon has me so curious. I love a fragrance that tells a story, and this one sounds like a whole movie. Need to smell this!

Nicoleta’s review makes Velvet Vendetta sound like the kind of dangerous, cinematic vanilla that completely rewrites the category—smoky, bourbon-laced, animalic, and alive with outlaw energy. The black-olive twist and that shadowy “forbidden vanilla” have me genuinely intrigued. I live in the Bay Area, USA.

  • hide_and_seek says:

Velvet Vendetta sounds great, I’m fascinated by the love affair between the delicious molasses, resins and vanilla from one angle, and the more daring tobacco and the leather , gun smoke and spices on another. Nicoleta Tomsa pointed out that all facets do clash in a perfect way with other ingredients, leading to a brilliant smoky , sweet and leathery cloud , there’s a theory that opposites attract and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin work is the evidence.
The intricate layering of palatable and edgy notes , plus the beautiful melody with “19th century Nevada desert” narrative do make Velvet Vendetta enchanting and multifaceted.
    Thanks a lot EU

  • Captivating thing to read by Nicoleta no mistake
I can’t help but to be impressed by Sarah Baker since she’s eager to acquire knowledge and to improve, to become better and better. When it comes to modern vanilla fragrances Margaux Le Paih-Guérin is one of the best i believe .
I’m exposed to niche perfumery but not yet to Sarah Baker , and i can’t help but to be impressed how she gave Margaux Le Paih-Guérin a platform to create very special cowboy and cowgirl vanilla with tobacco and smoke.
Other than wanting to win the throwback to the 19th century Velvet Vendetta fragrance , I’d like to explore all Sarah Baker fragrances. Reading the article was so much fun
EU , thank you very much

  • Just by reading the article I visualized the exact same moment when Nicoleta sprayed every single fragrance from Sarah Baker Vanilla trilogy on skin for the first time , I can almost see the delightfulness in her eyes . She loves the Peach trilogy, Tartan Cask and Flame and Fortune as well.
Personally I’ve never smelled vanilla fragrance with gun power accord , leather and tobacco , kudos to Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin for the idea. What differentiates her from a lot of other even more accomplished perfumers is that she’s focusing on the whole package, and not just on one or two aspects , performance is always on point with her fragrances too.
I like all kinds of vanilla fragrances , but especially the more creative ones. . I’m so excited about Velvet Vendetta, the fragrance is so adventurous in a comforting manner.
Peach’s Revenge I ordered in August. EU
    Thank you for the effort

  • The magnitude of Sarah Baker potential is massive , even though Peach’s Revenge is a trendy fragrance , i believe the brand is quite underrated considering there’s also remarkable creations like Loudo , Jungle Jezebel and Bascule.
Since Jungle Jezebel and Bascule i own ,i believe Sarah Baker path is based on ambition , creative approach , love for perfumes and and working with artists like Margaux Le Paih-Guérin
Like everything in real life some components of the new Velvet Vendetta are comforting like the small amount of resins and molasses , some delicious like the vanilla, others serene like the woods , and the bold ones like the leather and gun smoke. The balance between smooth and daring Margaux Le Paih-Guérin created is what I’m looking for the most. Even Nicoleta Tomsa is as thrilled as she’s ever been thinking about full cinematic vanilla arc
    From EU. Many thanks

  • Velvet Vendetta sounds like the kind of vanilla I’ve been waiting for.. not fluffy or “cute,” but rough around the edges, smoked, and a little dangerous. What really grabs me in Nicoleta’s review is the full western “film” arc built into the structure, from that quiet gunsmoke-and-dried-fruit opener, to the barroom bourbon and forbidden vanilla in the heart, all the way to the final scene of tobacco, dead wood, resins, and black vanilla settling like dusk over the desert.

I’m especially intrigued by the contrast of black olive and bourbon with this darker vanilla.. it suggests something salty, bitter, and grown-up that keeps the sweetness from ever feeling safe or predictable. The idea of a vanilla that feels weathered and cinematic, like it has a story to tell every time you wear it, makes Velvet Vendetta jump straight to the top of my must-try list.

    I live in the USA.

  • Phillip_Barkley says:

I can say, with confidence that every fragrance lover should already know Margaux Le Paih-Guérin for her compositions , she’s one of the best when it comes to novelty perfumes. All those people also need to try Sarah Baker fragrances , unique and alluring creations , long lasting on top of that.
I no longer live in Paris but I still visit once a month and I always try to find some time to visit and try something new , Sarah Baker fragrances I discovered at at Odorare Parfumerie , charming boutique in Villepinte , Saint-Saint-Denis a superb of Paris , the place I bought Peach’s Revenge and Loudo.
I like Nicoleta Tomsa detailed and free spirited explanations of Velvet Vendetta . I love the balance between the different gourmand elements , and the more spicy and kind of wild ones like the incense, leather and tobacco.
It’s excellent to know there are such fragrances produced, with black vanilla haze that flows all day , Velvet Vendetta checks all the boxes.
Like I said Peach’s Revenge and Loudo i own and I’ll be happy to win Velvet Vendetta
Thank you, American living in EU

Velvet Vendetta sounds so intoxicating! Bold, dangerous magnetic, a femme fatale of modern vanillas! As a vanilla lover, my hunt for an edgy vanilla never stops, i consider this new release a must to my collection! What strikes me the most is the journey that you dive into Velvet Vendetta. The layer upon layer of this cinematic bold, dark, mysterious, a bit syrupy and animalic vanilla sound absolutely astounding. A perfect description that caught my attention is this: “this is one vanilla you don’t mess with! This is complex, weathered, touched by smoke and time and maybe by something a little dangerous, too. This is vanilla that’s seen things. Done things. Survived to tell the tale.” A daring vanilla that sparks with pink pepper and leaving a smoky trail of gunsmoke while gourmandy dried fruits add a tempting heat and the note of black olive giving a daring twist, sounding a vanilla that is unforgettable.
Definitely makes me want to try it out!
Thanks for the draw and review. I’m in EU.

  • I love the way Sébastien Cresp weaves together bright, crunchy Granny Smith apple and citrus with voluptuous florals: rose, tuberose, magnolia, then lets them settle into a warm, smoky heart of oud, benzoin, and tonka bean. I’m from Romania, EU.

    Howdies people
I’m found of how Nicoleta Tomsa decided to combine her deep understanding of Sarah Baker different collections with one main , and 3 mini reviews in a singular experience for Cafleurebon readers , magnificent idea.
The right way to start is with her thoughts on Peach’s Revenge, Tartan Cask and Flame and Fortune , all original creations and quite complex . Peach’s Revenge and Tartan Cask are appealing to me.
The intro to Velvet Vendetta was beautiful, it invoked a sense of a western movie in different forms , smell and taste , more daring than edible vanilla , less comfortable and more hedonistic, opulent and leathery.
By Nicoleta words alone I can tell she’s found of how Velvet Vendetta smells and the troublesome vanillaic message behind . You bet I’d love to win a bottle
    Million thanks EU

As usual there’s no basic information with Cafleurebon , Nicoleta review is multidimensional as well .
I wish I hadn’t sold my cowboy boots last year , I wonder if I should buy another pair ? 🙂 What I do know for sure is that I need to sample Sarah Baker fragrances, starting with Pastel Rumours, Peach’s Revenge and Velvet Vendetta.
I know niche fragrances and with the brutal competitiveness on the market i need something big to really grab my attention, and Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta high quality raw materials, mouthwatering molasses ,dried fruits and vanilla , nutmeg connections, tobacco aroma melding with the leather did the trick for me.
Through Velvet Vendetta I can go back to 19th century
, whiteout having a time machine . You can’t beat that
    Cheers EU

  • I like how you tie scene-setting to materials: opening smoke as atmosphere, a vanilla shaped by barrel cues (bourbon, deadwood), and a base that moves from tobacco to resin without losing clarity. “Vanilla that’s seen things” captures that arc well: dark, lived-in, not polished sweet. I am in France EU.

  • I believe it’s easy to say Nicoleta Tomsa enjoyed exploring Sarah Baker fragrances way more than usual.
The idea of adding gun smoke to dried fruits vanilla , and then again to leather base, with pinch of kink running through the composition , only comes to show the creative part of Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin characters.
Powerful and novelty fragrance with lots of twists , starting with vanilla and ending with riding a horse , no wonder Nicoleta finds Velvet Vendetta is a vanilla you don’t mess with

    Thank you for the generosity

  • I’m very picky about brands and fragrances I’m wearing, especially when it comes to vanilla, Sarah Baker fragrances are on my radar after all the praises Peach’s Revenge received from Cafleurebon and Instagram last year . Thanks to Nicoleta i’m aware how dark and smoky Velvet Vendetta is.
Margaux Le Paih-Guérin is already a true star in perfumery , she’s is the author of multiple fragrance i love. When I saw her name listed as the perfumer i was expecting he’d create a dense and unique vanilla and she did. Velvet Vendetta is a contemporary scent , and I’m particularly interested in the of its provocative aura .

  • Admirations for people like Nicoleta Tomsa who have high standards for all kinds of perfumes and especially for vanillas . She’s not just looking for nice smelling , but also for for creative and sophisticated fragrances.
《 This autumn, though, Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta has them all silent, trembling in the corner of my shelf. Because this is one vanilla you don’t mess with!.》
Reading the essay made me think of how cheeky , yet emotionally extra dramatic of a vanilla Pastel Rumours must be if Nicoleta is enjoying it so much. Keeping in mind her zealous examination of Velvet Vendetta i know Margaux Le Paih-Guérin did a splendid work once again . Vivid atmosphere of smoke , tobacco and leather stepping on foundation of depth and ruff edges vanilla , Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta is a fragrance I’d really like to win.
    Thank you kindly, from EU

  • 19th century and people on a journey through a haze of tobacco ,bourbon, and smoke? An excellent inspiration for a fearless cold weather vanilla fragrance . The gun smoke and pink pepper, combined with a bottle of bourbon and vanilla-amber -leather base sounds adventurous . The vanilla and the molasses seem to temper the overall boldness.
I haven’t tried any Sarah Baker perfumes, but Velvet Vendetta sounds like a fun wear , and OMG that bottle is absolutely gorgeous! EU

There’s humor, danger, sensuality and that unmistakable Sarah Baker touch running through it all: playful, bold, sleek, artistic, self-aware, a little wicked, and always dressed & picture perfect for the close-up.” it’s everything I could ask for in a perfume – to be pulled into a different world even for just a few hours. Based on the review, Velvet Vendetta evokes the Sharon Stone character in The Quick and The Dead. You guys are picking so many good perfumes, it will take years to get through my to-smell list!
    I live in the US.

  • What captures my imagination most about Velvet Vendetta is how Nicoleta has masterfully woven a complete narrative arc into the fragrance itself. The idea of a dark, animalic vanilla—one that’s been aged in smoky barrels and touched by time—feels like exactly the kind of complexity I’ve been searching for in modern vanilla fragrances.
The western saloon setting is brilliantly evoked through the note composition: gunsmoke and dried fruits create that tense opening, the forbidden vanilla and bourbon form the heart of the story, and then tobacco, deadwood, and molasses bring the entire cinematic journey home. What really intrigues me is that balance between sensuality and danger—a vanilla that doesn’t apologize for being bold, raw, and a little untamed.
I’m particularly drawn to the description of black olive lending that feral, salty edge. It’s such an unconventional choice that keeps the sweetness from ever feeling safe or predictable. This isn’t a fragrance you wear to blend in; it’s one that demands attention and tells a story with every wear.
The craftsmanship of Margaux Le Paih-Guérin combined with Sarah Baker’s bold artistic vision feels like a perfect match. Thank you for this beautifully written review and the opportunity to win.

Great review! I love the way Nicoleta compared Pastel Rumours to a ride on a Vespa and milkshake, Peach’s Revenge to edible addiction , Tartan Cask to smoke , leather and tuberose, Flame and Fortune to speed chase with mescal
All Sarah Baker fragrance, Velvet Vendetta too are true juxtaposition of classic and modern , daring comforting and playful . I really love a good smoke and tobacco notes and
Velvet Vendetta , the dusty and vanilla nuances … sounds so interesting, mixing current and past. The notes also sound wonderful!

    Hello from UK
Jovoy UK boutique in Mayfair is where I discovered Sarah Baker fragrances , and bought Loudo and Gold Spot.
I like learning about the essence of Velvet Vendetta, and how the fragrance was made to encapsulate 19th century lifestyle in Nevada dessert.
Nicoleta Tomsa do have a point when she implied Margaux Le Paih-Guérin was one of the best out there to “cast the best ingredients” , with Velvet Vendetta they are thick, sweet, smoky and with a bowl of honeyed dried fruits. Nothing short of soothing but dark vanilla adventures are of my liking, especially if there’s tobacco and leather .
Based on Nicoleta’s sterling work and my experience with Loudo and Gold Spot , with Velvet Vendetta i’m envisioning excellence once again
    Thank you so much

  • I absolutely love the article, once again Cafleurebon information made me wonder, and think for a while

This is complex, weathered, touched by smoke and time and maybe by something a little dangerous, too.
    – Nicoleta Tomsa
Since I enjoyed everything I read I’m not sure where should even start with. Should I start with Nicoleta’s affection for art and beauty , her passion for creative fragrances , or the unique vanilla and tobacco haze with the dark smoke and bourbon , or maybe the importance of the leather and the bold nature of the fragrance ? All are equally as important for the forming of Velvet Vendetta identity .
Thanks to Nicoleta I know Velvet Vendetta is just great , showing up the provocative nature of true niche perfumery .

i loved this read- i love when you can literally live in the moment of the words & not only do you get the fragrance breakdown, you get a whole cinematic experience! this fragrance sounds so enticing & the review just makes it that much more appealing. who doesn’t love an old western flick?… & the perfect perfume to match? a fragrance that makes you feel like you are in a western, too, all the same- when you wear it you feel bold & untamable. i love when these reviews bring the fragrance to life & that is exactly what nicoleta does here. thank you for the experience! :). i am in the united states.

  • The blog is moving in its own tranquil pace which I love. Now to today’s read and pictures , both vivid and full of unremorseful energy. From all the articles I read on Cafleurebon and video I’ve watched on YouTube I can tell Sarah Baker is not only built differently, happy with modest personality but she also likes to surround herself with people who have the same or similar values. That’s why she collaborated with Margaux Le Paih-Guérin, the female master of exquisite vanillas .
I am familiar with one Sarah Baker fragrance Jungle Jezebel , and Nicoleta article made me think Velvet Vendetta is just as good in terms of quality, just as bold as well even though the scent profiles are nothing alike.
Velvet Vendetta is but dark , spicy and leathery and in general to my taste soulful fragrance , I’m hooked
Thank you for the whole experience.

There’s a saying that good ideas start with brainstorming, I have a feeling for past few years Margaux Le Paih-Guérin had hundreds of such brainstorming moments, and thousands trials and errors in between . She created so many successful fragrances still I wonder who came up with the idea of mixing gun smoke , tobacco , black olive , molasses and tobacco ? Her , Sarah Baker or they both had interesting ideas that Margaux Le Paih-Guérin brought to life.
My takeaway about Nicoleta Tomsa article is the overall sense of both heritage and novelty approach blended together to perfection. It appears to me that Margaux Le Paih-Guérin infused into Velvet Vendetta her love for the different dark aspects of vanilla .
As a result of Margaux Le Paih-Guérin work I’d like to know how Velvet Vendetta smells, In light of Nicoleta Tomsa review I have no doubt it’s stunning.
    Many thanks , EU

  • There’s humor, danger, sensuality and that unmistakable Sarah Baker touch running through it all: playful, bold, sleek, artistic, self-aware, a little wicked, and always dressed & picture perfect for the close-up.

So that’s how a connoisseur sounds when she is greatly impressed , Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta had such an impact on Nicoleta she almost forgot the the milky peachy dreamland on a Vespa from Peach’s Revenge, and went to a 19th century bar in Nevada Lol
It has been a pleasure learning about Velvet Vendetta being made by the super talented young perfumer Margaux Le Paih-Guérin , she did wonders with multiple brands during last two years, and once again with the fragrances she made for Sarah Baker.
I’m a fan of adventurous things, opulent aura, passionate fragrances , creativity , vanilla and tobacco , and I’ll be happy to win Velvet Vendetta .
    Much obliged

Everything about this sounds irresistible! The blend of tobacco and leather over vanilla feels like a dream pairing, and the addition of bourbon, olive and resinous notion is such a fascinating twist—I don’t recall seeing it used elsewhere. The bottle itself is stunning, and I’ve been eyeing Sarah Baker fragrances for a while,so this might just be the perfect first purchase.I really appreciate how Nicoleta Tomsa detailed each layer of Velvet Vendetta so beautifully.Sending thanks from the EU

  • I’m already a fan of Sarah Baker — Peach’s Revenge and Velvet Vendetta looks like another winner. I’ve been leaning into unique and sweet scents lately, and their dark vanilla and bourbon is something I’d love to try.
Nicoleta Tomsa review does a great job explaining the journey of the fragrance, from spicy and leathery , to boozy and woody , even tad salty + tobacco. Such a nice sense of balance.
I live in the EU . And thanks to Nicoleta Tomsa and Sarah Baker for making this drawing possible!

  • “Here comes trouble,” ha that takes me back to my grandfather saying that as I walked in the door of their house growing up. This perfume sounds fun; I love the old west vibe. While I’m a fan of smoky vanillas, that black olive note is particularly intriguing to me, as there is a DSH perfume with an olive that I quite enjoy. I am from New England, USA.

  • Nicoleta’s cinematic Western storytelling hooked me instantly – a dark, smoky, animalic vanilla with bourbon, tobacco, black olive, and gunsmoke that feels dangerous, lived-in, and utterly seductive. This isn’t sweet bakery vanilla; it’s the outlaw femme fatale of the genre, and I need that rugged, velveteen trouble on my skin! I live in Poland, EU

From the very first moment, Velvet Vendetta from Sarah Baker draws you in with dark goodness of the molasses , while tobacco, vanilla and resins are adding warmth to the heart of the fragrance . I imagined living and breathing the whole dreamy, 19th century landscape , Velvet Vendetta
almost sounds like like the beginning of adventurous trip . But there’s more beneath the surface , as it develops, rich layers of leather unfolds offering both comfort and artistic touch.
Created by perfumer Margaux Le Paih-Guérin Velvet Vendetta is a fragrance with so much depth. To me It really captures the intimacy of the moments with someone you don’t mess with. From EU

  • I love a vanilla perfume actually more like obsessed. I don’t love over sweet basic sugar cookie vanillas but perfumes like guerlains vanilla planifolia or Aylan. Velvet Vendetta really intrigues me because it’s doesn’t sound basic. The notes tell me it’s spicy and a little smokey along with a beautiful vanilla. It also intrigues me that Velvet Vendetta is described as “dangerous” another clue that it’s not your basic run of the mill vanilla. I’m fascinated by the inspiration of the old west desert in Nevada. Definitely a time of lawlessness saloons and fascinating characters. I picture the beautiful woman from out of town who can hang with the boys smelling like this perfume. I would love a bottle of this. I’m in Pennsylvania USA

  • In three words: Rugged, gunslinger, velveteen

Top: Gunsmoke, pink pepper, nutmeg, dried fruits; Heart: Forbidden vanilla, Bourbon, black olive; Base: Tobacco, deadwood, molasses, resins, black vanilla. I am really intrigued the notes of gunsmoke, tobacco and bourbon. Thanks a million from the UK

The senior editor Nicoleta Tomsa theme in every sense of the way confirmed my beliefs that I need both love , passion , comfort , a bottle of bourbon , dried fruits and sophisticated fragrances .
To me quality niche perfumery is a must, but I like to know the background of the brand and particular fragrances, that’s where Nicoleta grabbed me with the links to the older themes with reviews of Pastel Rumours, Peach’s Revenge, Tartan Cask, Flame and Fortune , I read them all one by one.
Where Nicoleta always shines is her passionate and artistic reviews, and movies knowledge , she knows westerns well too I see.
There’s a saying “There’s no such thing as too much vanilla” , I’d take delight in testing that theory with eating a couple of vanilla cookies right now. Later on I’ll look for Velvet Vendetta, Peach’s Revenge and Pastel Rumours samples since I’m on board with all of them.
Velvet Vendetta in particular is a fragrance that speaks in a language of the person who doesn’t take no for an answer, always takes his time and do enjoy life
    Warm hugs

  • love vanillas. A beautiful vanilla with tobacco, bourbon and gun smoke really fascinated to try this on skin. Thanks a lot from the UK

  • Margaux Le Paih-Guérin I discovered on Cafleurebon thanks to Redolessence inviting me to subscribe. With the assistance of different contributors and their reviews on the blog I ordered three fragrances she made , and based on what I learned about Velvet Vendetta i’m intrigued once again.
“She doesn’t turn. She just exhales his scent wrapping around her. Black vanilla. The incense of a desert church. Warm molasses. Strange resins. Animalic and feral, yet so deeply human”
Nicoleta really paints a picture of this intricate fragrance . What really grabbed me in her review was Velvet Vendetta extensive journey of the composition. Margaux Le Paih-Guérin was able to achieve the perfect balance between sweet and playful on one part, and audacity and frivolous on another.
Depending on Nicoleta experience with the fragrance I’m convinced Velvet Vendetta is a very special vanilla with lots of depth, and decadent character.

  • Howdy everyone !
I’ve the way Nicoleta Tomsa invites us to embody the untamed energy of riding a horse in the 19th century , drinking bourbon and smoking Dominican cigars ….. while our tummies are full of candied fruits
The dreamy darkness of Velvet Vendetta you don’t see everyday, considering the levels of sophistication, bold characteristics i tend to believe , with Nicoleta’s help that Margaux Le Paih-Guérin fragrance no doubt transcends the ordinary vanilla experiences.
Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin were able to put different bold traits, and top quality ingredients in one unique basket , i’m intrigued.
Chris Maurice did really well with my Loudo mixing tasty cherries , white chocolate and sexy oud affects i just had to buy it , now it’s Margaux Le Paih Guérin turn with Velvet Vendetta.

Playful, sensual and adventurous nectar with a touch of leather and tobacco that keep it from being overly saccharine , Velvet Vendetta is so special. All the notes coming together to creating a rich dark ,woody , sweet and spicy fragrance leaning on vanilla . Both fearless and seductive elements has me sold.
I don’t own any Sarah Baker fragrances but Velvet Vendetta is definitely going on my list now. Thanks

  • Thanks to Nicoleta Tomsa review i started thinking about vacation on a wild island, getting up early in the morning , eating roasted on an open fire pan fruits , with molasses and vanilla .
I’m now curious about Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta and the way it evolves. The contrast between the dark and smoky and the joyous gourmand elements , day and night, the profound sense of freedom all grabbed my attention.
I love the idea of focusing not sorely on Velvet Vendetta, but sharing some light on Peach’s Revenge , Pastel Rumours, Tartan Cask and Flame and Fortune too.

Velvet Vendetta sounds absolutely wonderful and to me at least quite tranquil — that vanilla mix with added incense , candied fruits and spices is just raw comfort in a bottle. I’ve always been a fan of such fragrances and it seems like Velvet Vendetta carries that Margaux Le Paih Guérin emotional core.

I love the leather note, I’m positive Margaux Le Paih Guérin work is splendid, Velvet Vendetta has everything a good fragrance should have , it’s complex, original and long lasting. The aroma is not just sweet and boozy, it’s also woody and leathery , with a touch of tobacco .
I feel like Margaux Le Paih Guérin took the less playful and sweet version of vanilla , added molasses, tobacco and leather resulting in a perfect scent for a party .

this is like a whole experience! i have never experienced gun powder in a perfume, but, always been intrigued by the note of it & now, i am even more intrigued by this entire fragrance. nicoleta does an amazing job at creating the perfect cinematic experience to match the perfume- & it definitely makes me want to try it now. who doesn’t want to feel like they are in an old western movie? i am used to vanilla being gourmand & cozy- but, here, it’s something different… dangerous, dusty, & wild. the contrast between sweet forbidden vanilla & gritty tension of tobacco & deadwood made me want to smell every twist of the perfume’s plot. this kind of perfume always grabs my attention- like a literal story unfolding on your skin. loved the review & the perfume sounds so beautiful & interesting. i am in the united states.

Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta is a marvelous fragrance, i was so not expecting such level of complexity. I love vanilla, tobacco and bourbon , such perfums just as much and I’m more than happy to know that Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin made not one distinct vanilla based fragrance by the name of Velvet Vendetta
The vanilla, tobacco and bourbon opulence mixed with pleasure-seeking seduction on top with molasses and dried fruits ? I’m captivated by Nicoleta Tomsa thoughts .
I’ve always been into splendid fragrances and now the 19th century vanilla ideas turned into reality by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin are stuck in my mind. I understood the assignment , i own a bottle of Tartan Cask , but I need to sample the whole range of available fragrances.

  • “Margaux Le Paih-Guérin has composed a full cinematic arc – with character development, plot twists, and an architecture that feels alive on the skin, on each wear.” Nicoleta had me closing my eyes to interpret what that could be , bold , romantic and delicious thoughts crossed my mind , and I started thinking of western movies as well.
The looks of Velvet Vendetta bottle, the cap , the scent profile and the comment “Did I mention I love it? I do. I do, do, do, do!” sold it for me.

  • It’s about time that vanilla got the cinematic treatment from Sarah Baker. As Nicoleta mentioned, the note can sometimes be too one-dimensional veering towards bakery or smoky. Velvet Vendetta takes vanilla seriously telling a story of the gunslinger moll in a haze of tobacco, smoke and bourbon. MD, USA

  • Tobacco? Molasses? Vanilla? This sounds like a dream for me and just perfect for the cold that’s coming. And this note of gunpowder I have never scene in a scent before so its piqued my interest. The way Nicoleta was able to make this into a cinematic event I can just tell the development is a roller coaster that I would love to experience so let me buckle up!!

    I live in Allen, TX

  • This sounds like something I would be into but I’m most interested due to the black olives note which at first struck me as not just unusual but bizarre. I’m very interested in trying this just to see how prominent and complimentary this note is to the rest of the composition. Pastel Rumours was delightful so I’m curious to try more Sarah Baker scents. I’m in the USA.

  • I love Nicoleta’s use of androgyny and subversion of the cowboy narrative in this fanciful writeup! Not only does it take us evocatively through the development of the fragrance, but it gives me a perfect image of what I’d wear to pair with it if I were so lucky as to win a bottle! I’m in the US and thanks as always for the opportunity.

  • This one is in my alley.
Vanilla, leather, bourbon…. You got me right there. And gun smoke?

    This is intriguing, and artistic.
The fact the perfume picture the smell of the 19th century Nevada desert, that’s art.

I don’t own anything from Sarah Baker but I have read she is creative and also with an edge on some of her creations.
Velvet Vendetta, seems it’s not an exception.

    Good luck to everyone.

In her own way she intertwined two peach fragrances by Sarah Baker Peach’s Revenge and Pastel Rumours fruity , the all smoke and leather Tartan Cask and speed chase mescal Flame and Fortune…… with the new showdown made by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin called Velvet Vendetta . The new forbidden dark and sensual vanilla journey is like a woman with leather jacket and boots straight from a western movie.

Such a lovely way to celebrate Sarah Baker , not just a review of Velvet Vendetta there’s details on Pastel Rumours, Peach’s Revenge, Tartan Cask and Flame and Fortune ! I found Nicoleta Tomsa introduction to Velvet Vendetta intriguing, highlighting the originality of the composition and how realistic it is. The scent profile is blend of appreciation for organic vanilla and spices , vibrant tobacco , candied fruits in a glass of bourbon, everything smoothen up to perfection by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin.
Sarah Baker seems to have a lot of variety in what they offer , Velvet Vendetta is a nice way to start exploring

Since Peach’s Revenge, Loudo and Flame and Fortune are of my favorites , and Nicoleta Tomsa complex and very picky nature is very much similar to mine , I’d like to say I’m thankful for the chance of winning Velvet Vendetta.
Nicoleta did a great job painting a colorful picture with a wild vacation, bourbon, attractive lady , gun smoke , tobacco and vanilla accords
I’m thrilled by the article and Velvet Vendetta, no remorse type of composition
    Many thanks , UK

Not just Velvet Vendetta but the whole Peach trilogy captivated my interest. With the assistance of Nicoleta Tomsa i can tell the use of incense and black olive notes are expertly applied byMargaux Le Paih-Guérin , giving Velvet Vendetta some different edges . I’m keen on candied fruits and leather too, and the way the fragrance genuinely impressed Nicoleta.
I’m down with the idea of smooth and alluring ,but also daring fragrances that smell like a real adventure .I acknowledge Nicoleta Tomsa fine work and I’d like to say I’m thankful for the chance. EU

  • I decided to share my takeaway about Sarah Baker Pastel Rumours first , since it’s important to me because i actually ordered the fragrance thanks to Nicoleta essay in the Summer

“It’s hard to play favourites here, as every single one deserves a click on the “add to test wishlist” button, but I have to mention the recent peachy-hued romantic comedy of Pastel Rumours that played on repeat on my skin all summer long – a.k.a. the Vespa ride in slow motion”

Thank you Nicoleta , I love the fragrance … and my 2005 Vespa PX 150 .

    The current essay takeaway

“The goal was to take people on a journey through a haze of tobacco ,bourbon, and smoke. Raw, untamed, and yet undeniably sexy. Go wild!” (Perfumer’s Notes)”

Crafting always brings joy to the artist no questions asked. We share a lot of common objectives and principles, Sarah Baker , Margaux Le Paih-Guérin, Nicoleta Tomsa and I.
In comparison to Pastel Rumours, Velvet Vendetta is bolder, darker, like Nicoleta said “a little wicked” , but still has fun and comforting sides , directly influenced by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin perspective on 19th century lifestyle in Nevada dessert.
Not just the great smelling aroma with added molasses and gun smoke , there’s also different temptations , it’s almost like Velvet Vendetta is part of a western movie.
    Much appreciated, EU

They say “Every empty bottle is filled with stories” and Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta is a fragrance with a lot of stories to tell… on top of bottle of bourbon 😉
In the vibrant landscape of 2025 fragrance launches Velvet Vendetta emerges as a compelling olfactory interpretation of a bold fragrance- pleasing, indulgent, and unashamedly boozy and emotional. True to the symbolism of its namesake , this unisex fragrance i believe evokes passion and warmth through a decadent boozy , smoky, sweet and woody structure that leans both playful and sophisticated.
From the very first spray, Velvet Vendetta announces its character with a burst of bourbon, vanilla and dried fruits nuances.Comfortable and vivid fragrance with smoke, spices and well dosed sweetness on top of the amber in the base.Thank you kindly EU

  • Summed up by Nicoleta Tomsa introduction , perfumer Margaux Le Paih-Guérin thoughts , I’d say Velvet Vendetta by Sarah Baker is boldly provocative fragrance that captures the sweetness, depth, and sensuality of modern not so sugary vanilla , strive for originality and comfort .
Velvet Vendetta turns warm and sensual with swirls of candied fruits and vanilla sweetness, then the smoke , bourbon and tobacco nuances create a dreamy center. It is both comforting and luxurious, but also definitely provocative, evoking memories of shared sweetness , perhaps a romantic gesture or a close-up.
As it settles, Home for the Holidays deepens into a warm and sensual base of incense, resins and leather.
I don’t have Sarah Baker fragrances in my possession ,and I’d love to experience the quality of Margaux Le Paih-Guérin work once again , she’s an absolutely spectacular perfumer (BDK Rouge Smoking Extrait , Sora Dora Jany) .Kudos to all ,I’m located in EU

    Hi there,

I am intrigued by the bourbon-barreled vanilla and also a black olive note sounds great…Was loving some of the Sarah Baker sweeter-and-fruitier scents, so this one will be a departure but I think I’m up for it. Thank you for this lovely offer; I am in NYC/USA.

  • I have known of Sarah Baker’s fragrances for sometime. Sadly for me, the big stores in town still don’t carry any of her offerings limiting my chances of learning more about the brand.
Based of what I read, I believe I’d love ths fragrance, not only because I’m a
vanilla lover, but because the idea of gun smoke and forbidden vanilla seems sort of intriguing and hard to resist.
Also, as Nicoleta’s mentioned unboxing a Sarah Baker’s fragrance is always a treat, and I want to have that experience too. Commenting from Orlando, Fl. USA

Thanks for the bold and fun write-up! Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta strikes me as a confident night-out statement—there’s sultry red velvet glamour in the plum and black cherry top notes, velvet orchid and cashmere wood mid-notes that drape themselves over the skin, then a deep base of leather, patchouli, and smoked vanilla that lingers like a mischievous whisper. I love how it walks the line between opulence and edge without tipping into gimmick; it feels like dressing for intrigue. I’d love to try Velvet Vendetta!
    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Ooh I just know a smoky sexy vanilla will be magic in Sarah’s hands! This is exciting. I am sure it’s just gawjus dahling. “ Rugged, gunslinger, velveteen.” Perfect!!! Love it.

Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin are such a great duo , both are on a roll. I’m aware of the already famous perfumer for the different fragrances she made , Sarah Baker i know by name only thanks to your blog and the Best of 2024 awards , and Peach’s Revenge praises by the different contributors.
Thanks to Nicoleta Tomsa I’m enthusiastic about Velvet Vendetta, and Sarah Baker fragrances as a whole. The fragrance is leather , tobacco and vanilla bouquet done right. I’ve always been favorable to candied fruits in fragrances, although never experienced olive as a note . I also like the nutmeg in Velvet Vendetta, here It gives the fragrance beautiful spicy spin , nice work . From EU

My impressions only get better with every entry, the senior editor Nicoleta Tomsa review is so sophisticated. Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin team work in noteworthy .I’m also impressed by the way Nicoleta bonded with all perfumes “from the cinematic universe of Sarah Baker”.
Velvet Vendetta grabbed me with high quality ingredients , mouthwatering candied fruits and vanilla ,with the sweetness toned down the incense, leather and tobacco .
Velvet Vendetta and Nicoleta brought me to a cinema, watching a western movie , sounds awesome. Thanks EU

  • Fun introduction to Sarah Baker’s lineup and the vibe folks can expect from her brand. Velvet Vendetta—”the most seductive outlaw to ever ride the vanilla plains” sounds great! The black olive note really stands out here; it’s not only unusual, it’s a clever way to add a savory quality to the vanilla, bourbon, and tobacco. And it sounds like this is a dynamic wear that really sings in the base, highlighting the animalic vanilla, resins, and an invitingly complex sweetness “warm molasses”. Great review! Would love to try this.

I’m in the USA. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • I’m glad Sarah Baker didn’t miss her chances of working with Margaux Le Paih-Guérin , Nicoleta do have a point when she said the young perfumer is a visual thinker with a painter’s instinct .
I’m hardly ever super impressed by a vanilla fragrances , but the non-gourmand spin with bourbon , tobacco , glamorous darkness is spectacular , Nicoleta description of Velvet Vendetta grabbed my attention right away. I’m impressed by how she , as a fragrance journalist was able to merge courageous fragrance like Velvet Vendetta with cinematic arc , and also made a parallel with a western movie.
Top quality and artistry , say no more. Thanks for the review , and the giveaway

  • The blog is moving in its own tranquil pace which I love.Today’s read and pictures are both vivid and full of bold energy. From all the articles I read on Cafleurebon and video I’ve watched on YouTube I can tell Sarah Baker is not only built differently, happy with artistic personality but he also likes to surround herself with people who have the same or similar values. That’s why she’s most likely delighted by her collaborations with Margaux Le Paih-Guérin, the master of vanillas of different kinds .
I am familiar with one Sarah Baker fragrance Jungle Jezebel , and Nicoleta article made me think Velvet Vendetta is just as good in terms of quality, even though the scent profiles are nothing alike.
Velvet Vendetta is smoky , sweet, fun, flirtatious, tad boozy and in general soulful fragrance , I’m hooked
Thank you for the whole experience.

  • I like how Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta glows with the brightness of the future. Made by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin fragrance is letting its playful dark side shine bright , with gun smoke , tobacco and bourbon facets that thicken up the feeling of being in the 19th century Wild West , dried fruits and molasses undertones are a welcomed bonus .
…Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta has them all silent, trembling in the corner…. Love that! EU

  • Gunsmoke reminds me of the series but fireworks commemorate a celebration. That was a descriptive narration detailing everything plus it’s possible persona. Pink pepper and dry fruits go well with each other. This time of year vanilla, nutmeg, bourbon, and tobacco go great with changing seasons. Lastly, gunsmoke, deadwood, and black olives seems solely IMHO to be more challenging than chic. Dry run or the sweet flint like solders and doesn’t leave much for the after thought. That’s most likely the aim for Velvet Vendetta’s namesake but maybe not a simple as stated. I like simplicity in packaging but complexity truly wears moreso with confidence. Sounds like the Marlboro man all mellowed out and materialized within it’s environment. Entering the draw, but not always enevitably quick to, LOL, from USA.

Even though Nicoleta Tomsa spoke of all the different bold aspects of Velvet Vendetta like the leather, gun smoke, incense , actually the candied fruits , the decent amount of tobacco , the woman in the story, and the bourbon bolstered my excitement even more

The rains are pouring , yellow leaves are falling , and suddenly i feel like watching Yellowstone series with a cozy blanket and bowl of candied fruits , burning incense cons with a glass of bourbon, even if it’s not that cold outside. The truth? No , winter isn’t fully here yet, but some fragrances already capture that wild, slightly nostalgic vibe.
Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta perfectly captures the transition from the last warm autumn days to the first hints of winter . Imagined myself in the countryside in an old farm house at sunset, with the sweet smell of sun-warmed candied fruits , a glass…or two of bourbon, watching Yellowstone while the world outside turns golden with fallen leaves. Main notes of Velvet Vendetta are blend of genuine comfort ,sensuality , danger and that Sarah Baker touch Nicoleta loves so much.

  • I’m intrigued,a very unquie vanilla fragrance. I would love to try this. What really peaked my interest from the article is this
“She doesn’t turn. She just exhales his scent wrapping around her. Black vanilla. The incense of a desert church. Warm molasses. Strange resins. Animalic and feral, yet so deeply human.”

  • I’m so excited to join! Thank you for the chance to win the Sarah Baker Perfumes “Velvet Vendetta” by Margaux Le Paih‑Guérin — it sounds like a beautifully bold and seductive fragrance. I’d be honoured to add it to my collection and experience its smoky-vanilla magic. Thanks again and best of luck to everyone! I am in EU, Greece

  • My takeaway about Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin work process with a quote from the Nicoleta Tomsa opening

“This autumn, though, Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta has them all silent, trembling in the corner of my shelf. Because this is one vanilla you don’t mess with!”

With so many successful fragrances behind her back last 2-3 years expectations are unbelievably high for Margaux Le Paih-Guérin , I know she did great job since her ethics are noteworthy.
Judging by the detailed introduction , Nicoleta Tomsa adventurous opinion, and how ecstatic she is describing Velvet Vendetta all makes me feel the future two of the Vanilla trilogy of free will playful fragrances with unique appeal will soon hit the market . I like the way Velvet Vendetta evolves from a lively burst of tobacco , to spicy nutmeg , and a smoky and vanilla i just need to try. Thank you

  • All fragrances can tell a story, some are passionate, some are sad and other do have a happy ending . I think in Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta there’s not sad parts , and everything is leading to good and delicious boozy-smoky memories , tobacco, smiles and a tad seductive wink. Nicoleta Tomsa even said the aroma is touched by smoke and time and maybe by something a little dangerous too.
I have a keen interest in Velvet Vendetta because of Nicoleta cosmopolitan personality , and how special the fragrance is . I find the blend unique because the decent amount of tobacco , but also both mouthwatering, smoky and sexy. The dried fruits and bourbon are more than welcomed too

  • Hey there Is it just me or Margaux Le Paih-Guérinmade fragrances are not just exquisite , but he’s also making hits one after another. A perfumer who already signed dozens of successful releases , the latest of which Velvet Vendetta she made for Sarah Baker . Undoubtedly the best is still to come for both Margaux Le Paih-Guérin and Sarah Baker .
Velvet Vendetta is well blended fragrance , an unique merging of vanilla , a bowl of sweet fruits , tobacco density and the pink pepper are the most appealing sides of the fragrance. I’m expecting a delicious and dark haze that came as a result of the merging.
Gold Spot is a fragrance by Sarah Baker i own and love.

  • It’s safe to say Velvet Vendetta stands out from other interpretations of vanilla perfumes . It is a distinct, bold lifestyle suited , sensual, a naughty vanilla that has been aged in barrels .
It evokes a seductive vibe of 19th century Nevada saloon based female gun for hire , sweet on the outside but very much dangerous on the inside , who’s sitting through a haze of leather, smoky tobacco and bourbon while waiting for a task.Velvet Vendetta unique character shines through . Thanks to Nicoleta Tomsa and Sarah Baker , may fortune favor me UK

  • Hello Cafleurebon
I really like how Nicoleta is moving all the pieces with ease on the chessboard , I learned a lot today. In the Velvet Vendetta Sarah Baker and perfumer Margaux Le Paih-Guérin are the most powerful piece in the chess game , moving any numbers of squares horizontally, vertically and diagonally.
The way Margaux Le Paih-Guérin winnings games after another by creating well received successful fragrances shows how the famous perfumer is not really bothered by what other perfumers are doing, igniting the interest of fragrance enthusiasts worldwide by her own style and methods , and with Velvet Vendetta adding gun smoke , molasses, and nice amounts of tobacco accords to the traditional vanilla game . The other important pieces on the board to me are the bourbon , leather and resins .
Margaux Le Paih-Guérin made Pastel Rumours so addictive , absolutely I’d like to win a bottle

Optimal course to start is with Margaux Le Paih-Guérin notes , since turning 19th century Nevada dessert lifestyle emotions into dark and sensual vanilla scent with tobacco, bourbon and smoke I imagine is very hard, especially when there are two people involved, Sarah Baker creative person on its own, and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin the perfumer who made Velvet Vendetta .
Nicoleta Tomsa love for Sarah Baker , art , design, western movies and spectacular fragrances they intertwined with naughty and adventurous experiences and heartstrings when reviewing Velvet Vendetta . Sarah Baker is unique brand I need to explore deeper since I’ve only smelled Gold Spot.
Velvet Vendetta is an exquisite semi-sweet fragrance , where candied fruits , tobacco and vanilla are more prominent , gun smoke accord as well , i can sense the adventurous nature right away . Spectacular fragrance i’d love to win.

  • The whole Sarah Baker Velvet Vendetta presentation i like a lot, I know it’s mostly about the juice and not the bottle , but the 1st , 4th and 5th images of the bottle and the matching cap immediately caught my eye.
This deep leathery vanilla essence with tobacco and no overly sugary gimmicks , well brushed with bourbon and dark finesse by Margaux Le Paih-Guérin sounds wonderful . Comforting and tranquil , dark and edgy at the same time maybe ? Absolutely I’d love to try this , and get a chance to check out the aroma and the bottle in person.
This is complex, weathered, touched by smoke and time and maybe by something a little dangerous too

I love the intersection of film and perfume, especially when the film is a gritty western and the perfume is a take-no-prisoners Sarah Baker creation. I love gun smoke and Nicoleta’s review made me think of the classic TV series Gunsmoke and the red-haired saloon owner on the show, Miss Kitty. You did not mess with her, just like you don’t mess with the vanilla in Velvet Vendetta. I have seen and done things, and Id like to see and do a whole lot more wearing this perfume.

I absolutely love the tobacco and vanilla quality of the fragrance , and i find interesting molasses, and the saltiness that comes from black olives accords. I like the classical style of the bottle too , the bronze top and I’m excited for Sarah Baker in general.

I enjoy greatly Nicoleta Tomsa objectivity , dedication , tenderness for art in perfumery , and the approach towards every single Cafleurebon article she worked on , no matter the genre – sweet, dark or something in between. I wish I was there with her when she sprayed the Velvet Vendetta , Pastel Rumours , Peach’s Revenge, Tartan Cask and Flame and Fortune on skin for the first time , just to see her facial expression.
Everything in the five fragrances is on its own place, the milkshake and and the Vespa ride in Pastel Rumours, the sugar-rush crime of passion with guava in Peach’s Revenge, the James Bind-esque Tartan Cask, the speed chase and mescal in Flame and Fortune.
I think out of the five Velvet Vendetta, Pastel Rumours and Peach’s Revenge I’d enjoy most highly.

  • I’m keen on Cafleurebon not sorely because of the multiple sophisticated fragrances and reviews I can find here , that’s the bonus but not the main reason. To me what actually matters to me is the individuality of every single author including Nicoleta Tomsa of course.
She’s is keen on Velvet Vendetta not sorely because of the smell, but because of the ingredients and the brazen characteristics. Dark smoky and boozy vanilla with tobacco and fruity essence, skilfully crafted ingredients , and as a whole evocative blend I’m drawn to. The images she also painted so well is so evocative , the Wild West , the woman with an attitude , I’m impressed. Not that I’m a cowboy , but I absolutely NEED to know how a journey through 19th century Nevada dessert smells according to Margaux Le Paih-Guérin

“Pastel Rumours” , “Peach’s Revenge” , “Tartan Cask” and “Flame and Fortune” , Sarah Baker fragrances are in my to-try-list now . The fact that the senior editor Nicoleta Tomsa said “Did I mention I love it? I do. I do, do, do, do!” sounds promising.
Velvet Vendetta is very much decadent vanilla with its own distinct character, it’s sweet, smoky, there’s tobacco as well as hedonistic nuances .
Margaux Le Paih-Guérin fragrance offers variety of encounters for people who like to communicate with passion.EU
    Be well

Vanilla is arguably my favorite note , exactly like Nicoleta I have all kind of different ones subtle and loud , moist and dry ,easy to wear and more complex , but Velvet Vendetta seems to be the ballsiest of them all.
I particularly like how Margaux Le Paih-Guérin decided to go into smoky and tobacco direction since i don’t have such vanilla. The smoky incense , tobacco and bourbon take on it gives that little to no rules wild-wild west feel to the fragrance. Sarah Baker has delved into new territory with Velvet Vendetta ,big respect for the final result.
I love Peach’s Revenge and I’m glad Sarah went into vanilla direction, based to the Peach trilogy i presume two move vanilla fragrances will be released in the upcoming months.
    I’m thrilled by the chance

I love Nicoleta Tomsa review and the way Velvet Vendetta is based around authenticity and different bold accords . I guess Nicoleta do have a good point when she said “Unboxing a Sarah Baker fragrance is always a treat” because i definitely want to do it myself
I love what Nicoleta did here , she certainly seems to have a huge love for the Sarah Baker and Margaux Le Paih-Guérin work , the leather , tobacco and bourbon nature of Velvet Vendetta is right up my alley . Seems like it would be an attractive scent for the autumn and winter evenings and going out when I’d like to grab a glass of bourbon and smoke a Dominican cigar .
I would love to win this amazing vanilla release. I am from the EU

It’s not just impressions only I guess, because like Nicoleta Tomsa I too believe Margaux Le Paih-Guérin is one of the best when it comes casting new ingredients in a dark vanilla fragrance for Sarah Baker fragrances.
It’s so nice knowing that Margaux Le Paih-Guérin is perfumer behind Velvet Vendetta, and of course I very much enjoyed Nicoleta review of the fragrance .
What grabbed me the most today in no particular order a) There nothing like Velvet Vendetta on the market b) Margaux Le Paih-Guérin as expected was able to create unique atmosphere c) how balzy , smoky and sexy at the same time Velvet Vendetta is is f) Margaux Le Paih-Guérin 19th century ideas g) the tobacco scent and the spicy warmth of the nutmeg
    It’s been a pleasure

  • Hmm why I’m not aware of Sarah Baker , Velvet Vendetta, Peach’s Revenge ,Pastel Rumours , Tartan Cask and Flame and Fortune are all wonderful.
I have a penchant for high grade vanilla fragrances , from spice and bourbon coated, to incense and decent amount of tobacco used , i love them all nuances Margaux Le Paih-Guérin added to the picture.
Nicoleta Tomsa vivid examination of Velvet Vendetta fascinated me , fragrance is fun and a bit adventurous . It’s so well suited for my character, I’m super intrigued
