Everyone is looking for that bit of luxury without the worry of something harmful lurking unknown within. In March of 2023, in order to alleviate this, two friends and recent mothers, Marilou Hamer and Caroline Gelineaut founded Rosy & Earnest, a women-owned perfume house dedicated to luxurious fine fragrances with 100% transparent, non-toxic, and worry-free ingredients. The duo engaged master Perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer who creates the brand’s  perfumes that are both clean and safe, and has already received recognition with awards such as the Consider Beyond Conscious Brand Award (2024) and the Global Green Best Ethical Fragrance Award (2023). Housed in minimalistic packaging, all of Rosy & Earnest’s formulations are cruelty-free and environmentally friendly too.

Rosy & Earnest are way ahead of the game when it comes to transparency as the 1st Canadian perfume house to have an EWG Verified certification, with only one other perfume house in the world having another. Meaning their perfumes are highly tested and free of any known chemicals of concern, having been created and composed in France by the talented perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer at LAB Scent. They’re not willing to settle for less when it comes to perfumery either, seeking to give the best experience what they love, while ensuring that what we apply on our skin is both safe as well as smelling great.

Rosy and Earnest Be Rosy bursts with a cool chilled pear and sweet orange fruitiness that feels like a bright summer’s breeze. These sweet drops of fruity dew feel like sun is reflecting off an iris making an array of its subtle facets shimmer. Soft silky petals get their gentle texture from the pear and iris; while more dry, rooty earthy aromas give you this carrot dry feel. Iris really gets explored in Be Rosy throughout the wear, with hints of its musky powdery makeup aroma and texture gathering at the edges of the composition.

Osmanthus and Iris botanical drawings common use

More fruity florals are summoned from a sunlit osmanthus, glowing with soft sweet peachy undertones that meld with other delicious fruits giving you this clean feel that has a watery (almost aquatic vibe, but not like Calone©). Be Rosy feels like fresh water has been sprayed over fruits and flowers, wrapping them in a fresh crystalline way and the combined aromas are rising up in a cosy soft embrace. Nathalie Feisthauer has this really amazing ability to give you this deep feeling yet transparent airy perfume and she does it again here in Rosy & Earnest Be Rosy.

More of the orris reveals itself as it plays with the osmanthus, teasing out warmer floral aspects along with a smooth rich suede, one as if it was made with delicate flower petals. There’s a fun tea note too that when combined with the fresh watery fruits, conjures a cooling fruity iced tea. This gives Be Rosy a very flowing carefree feel, with the ambroxan giving it a cosiness and delightful trail as you move. The orris’ makeup powderiness is backed up with cedar giving it a smooth woody body to be powdered onto as soft musks continue to give that fresh airy feel that’s been flowing from the opening. Osmanthus with a whisper of sweet violet as well as the tea gives the musks in Be Rosy this rather comforting floral haze sensation, like its wrapping you in a soft cashmere, leaving feeling like you have breezed through a day and can feel the warmth of the sun gently radiating from you with a delicious floral fresh musky body heat.

Notes: Clementine oil Italy, Carrot oil France, Pear accords, Osmanthus absolute, Orris butter, Black tea CO2, Cedarwood, Ambrox, Musk.

This is the second time I read about Rosy & Earnest and it’s truly an accomplishment for them to be one of only 2 companies in the world to be EWG verified. Having experienced some issues with chemicals once they had their respective children really set them out on a mission to create the cleanest/most non-harmful fragrances in the market. Be Rosy is just what they name says, a rosy, cozy floral fragrance that envelops you in a cashmere-like bubble. Perfect for everyday wear. Cheers from the USA.

J’s review of Rosy & Earnest Be Rosy truly captivated my interest with its vivid and poetic descriptions. The way he detailed the fragrance’s opening with chilled pear and sweet orange fruitiness instantly painted a bright and refreshing summer scene in my mind. His nuanced portrayal of how the iris and osmanthus interact, creating a shimmering, sunlit effect, was both informative and enchanting. The mention of Nathalie Feisthauer’s ability to craft a deep yet airy perfume added a layer of appreciation for the perfumer’s skill. I also loved the comparison to a fruity iced tea, which gave a tangible sense of the scent’s cooling and carefree vibe. Overall, J’s ability to translate the complexities of Be Rosy into a sensory experience through words was incredibly engaging and made me eager to try this fragrance for myself.

What a fresh summery breeze this seems to be, a sweet delight. Beautiful review and note breakdown, as a reader I’m entwined in this scent’s embrace. I live in Oregon.

Be Rosy sounds like a beautiful scent, and I am excited that it is by a women-owned perfume house that uses clean and safe ingredients. I love that iris is one of the main notes, with tea and cedar supporting. I am in the US.

Be rosey. Be happy is what I’m feeling from reading the article. This sounds like is opens beautifully with clementine and a dry brightness. I love orris butter and in the mid it takes a good fragrance and makes it a head turner. Also it’s a great fixative that lasts and slowly fades. The cedarwood and musk make this a solid choice and it has top tier ingredients. Would love to win, from Jacksonville, NC.

There’s not one note in Be Rosy that I don’t love. I love the surprise of tea and Ambroxan. I like that it’s a non-toxic choice; I currently have none in my collection. :::Christine is filled with chemicals::: J’s review captured the love that went into creating this fragrance. I’d love to try it; thanks so much for the opportunity. It sounds utterly feminine.

  • J really captures a beautiful floral here. Between the sweet orange and pear with peachy osmanthus and iris I am going to seek this out. I don’t know where to buy in USA but from their website if shipping isn’t too expensive.the clean ingredients and Nathalie Feisthauer makes this a winner. The Vanilla and Rum Royal sounds delicious.

  • I absolutely love the notes in this fragrance!! And so appreciative of the commitment to non-toxic ingredients. I have recently found myself sensitive to things that never bothered me before, and value more and more the effort to provide safer options for those of us who adore fragrance but find ourselves limited. I had never heard of this company until your article. Thank you for this generous draw! I live in NH, USA.

  • Kudos to Marilou Hamer and Caroline Gelineaut for creating a luxury line of perfumes that meet ethical targets and use non-toxic ingredients. It seems their high standards have been met with Be Rosy. I love the combination of orris and osmanthus and it seems to work well over the cedarwood, musk and ambrox base. The tea note sounds refreshing. MD, USA.

  • Personally I love the story of how these two friends started the company and how dedicated they are to keeping it safe and clean. Very brave. Thank you.

From reading about this brand on this site, I purchased the entire sample set. I was nor disappointed. I love how J describes Be Rosy: “Be Rosy feels like fresh water has been sprayed over fruits and flowers, wrapping them in a fresh crystalline way and the combined aromas are rising up in a cosy soft embrace.” I found the scent to be a refreshing fruity floral. I smell it, and it instantly reminded me of a nice, high-end girls brunch with sparkling citrus mixed drinks and fresh floral arrangement centerpieces. It’s just light and airy, and an all-around fun scent. I love that this fragrance house makes wonderful scents without sacrificing their commitment to clean fragrance. This is a brand I want to support. I would love to win a full size of Be Rosy. I live in Louisville, Kentucky. Thank you for this giveaway!

I hope more perfume houses will practice transparency in their ingredients and sustainability. Rosy & Earnest will, I hope, inspire other houses. I loved reading J’s review. I loved the description of the airiness and warmth found in Be Rosy. All the notes, particularly the pear, osmanthus, and tea sound like warm rays of sun.
    I live in the US.

  • I’m intrigued to hear Be Rosy plays up some earthy notes along with those reminiscent of soft petals. Combined with the watery, fresh spray on fruit and flowers feel, I’d expect those textures to bring realism to this composition. Feisthauer’s work is also notable; impressive that she’s working at her usual level with EWG Verified materials.

    I’m in the USA.

  • Really appreciate the dedication to transparency, and using safe ingredients. The floral aspect sounds just incredible and what especially caught my eye was the “floral haze sensation” in J’s review from the Osmanthus and tea, which sounds very delightful and comforting to wear.

  • Oh dear a lot of my favorite notes in this! Black Tea, Orris, Osthmanthus and Carrot seed with a whisper of violet! Always love a violet. I was just thinking a few days ago – someone please make a violet tea perfume!!
Thank you for the generosity. I am in US.

  • I would love to win Putain de Palaces, as as Nathalie Feisthauer is a wonder and I love EDLO especially Like This. “Etat Libre D’Orange Putain des Palaces evokes the traces of dark vampy lipstick, the rustling of a heavy brocade dress, leather gloves, a light dusting of powder, and there she is- a sophisticated, take-no-prisoners-seductive woman who is nonchalantly wearing her beauty like a weapon, in plain sight. I would like to be that woman 🙂 USA

I love that we don’t have to give up quality scents for toxins! I adore iris and that this is multi faceted. A fruity iced tea sounds perfect for summer. I’ve not heard of the recommended Vanilla Rum Royal, that will be something to look into for the fall (although I shall stay in my endless summer moment for now). Thanks for the chance, this sounds like a beauty. USA.

Thanks for the writeup. Really fun to read about the founders and this brand.

The combination of citrus and pear, osmanthis and iris along with the black tea and the ambroxan really make this scent a wonderfully fresh and clean scent for summer. I would love to get my nose on it.

    Cheers from WI, USA

  • Be Rosy feels like fresh water has been sprayed over fruits and flowers, wrapping them in a fresh crystalline way and the combined aromas are rising up in a cosy soft embrace – what a lovely description. As the heat has been tough this year I have looked to cooling fragrances such as this to lighten the burden so to speak. In maryland.
